I thought Wolves were deservedly beaten by Watford but should have got something at Brighton.
Chances were created before and after the Seagulls took the lead in a game the visitors were controlling. We also registered 25 shots on goal, so it’s disappointing to come away with another blank.

My personal thought is our wide players aren’t getting into those dangerous inside positions they so often occupied last season and they need to get closer to Jimenez in open play instead of always hugging the touchline.
Brighton were happy for Wolves to have the ball and lay in wait for the opening, which they eventually got.
Spurs definitely won’t be as passive tomorrow and it could very well be a case of roles reversed with us sitting back and looking to break. We’ve raised our game against the top brass so far and hopefully it’s the same again tomorrow.
Tottenham
As good as they evidently are, I think Spurs have got a job on their hands to get into the top four. Both Chelsea and Arsenal look to have improved over the summer and the margins between those sides look thin.

Man City and Liverpool are another step up from what I’ve seen and the former saw off Mauricio Pochettino’s side on Monday to underline the point.
Still, you look down their squad and see a lot of quality and decent depth, so it’s not immediately obvious where they can improve.
Having lost to Man City on Monday night they then went and beat West Ham in the cup on Wednesday with a much changed side that still included Son Heung-Min and the returning Deli Alli and Christian Eriksen.
November is a big month for them with some tricky Premier League games against Palace and Chelsea after tomorrow as well as the uphill battle to qualify from their group in the Champions League with decisive fixtures against PSV and Inter Milan.
The away end
I lifted the following from the match thread on a popular Spurs forum.
Looking forward to it though, should be a good open game, they play some decent stuff! Very encouraging to see Alli, Eriksen and Son back and firing.. I think we can really push on now. Going 3-1 win.
This won’t be easy at all. Absolutely frightened at the prospect of Traore vs Davies. But I think we SHOULD have enough to beat them. They’re very well organised, play good football and more important want to play football so should hopefully be good for us. Think we’ll sneak with a 0-1.
Good team wolves. They play good football . I think this gonna be a really good game . 3-3
Going to be a really difficult game, Wolves are showing themselves to be a very competent PL team. Regarding our line-up, I would rather play with ten men than have Davies in the team.
Another tough match. Although Wolves lost to Brighton, they had 20+ shots, they were hit by a sucker punch. They have a talented team, and we need to be at our best. Traore, Neves and Mourinho can all cause problems.
Wolves
I would consider playing Traore and Cav to see if they can offer more punch in the final third. We’ve got options there so why not use them?

Equally though, I definitely subscribe to the ‘we shouldn’t panic after two defeats’ school of thought so if it’s Jota and Costa, I have no qualms. They both played well against the last ‘Big 6’ team to visit Molineux.
I’m still not sure anyone else in that team has done enough wrong to warrant the chop, but there are a few players who must feel they’re owed a chance to prove themselves at some point.
The poll
Prediction
Well done to Stu, Brompton, Peterobbo, AshK, Andrew hadley, Paulcooksleftpeg, jazzwolf54, Brizzie, Adrian, Looneytune and BARDWolf who all collected points in the PL last weekend (apologies if I missed anyone).
It’s getting tight at the top of the table but vicsmith still leads the way with just over a quarter of the season gone.
If you want to take part, simply leave your prediction in the comment section below, which is where you’ll also find my forecast for the game.
Up The Wolves!

I haven’t got a clue as to the result here.
Spurs should be able to get a result against us with their squad, yet if we fire (for once) in front of goal we could a great night. I see goals in this one, and I’ve got to go for a Wolves win.
It would be disappointing to end up with four straight defeats, but we’ll have to play very well in at least one of these next two games to avoid that being the case.
Spurs are a very good side and it’s annoying that many of their best players are just now coming back from injury. But they are using their squad a bit and that could give us a sniff.
I’m hoping for a similarly gutsy and adventurous showing as Man City/Utd so will go for the same end result.
Loathe. Detest. Hate. Despise. Abhor. Deplore. Can’t stand. Really don’t like. Revile. Execrate.
Enter the words ‘Tottenham Hotspur’ in the Bedford Wolf Thesaurus and those are the synonyms you will find. If you look at the unexpurgated version of said tome you will find many more colourful words!
Yes I know I’m supposed to hate that lot from The Hawthorns and I do but let’s put it this way – if they were playing Spurs I’d rather the Sandwell Shadow Dwellers won.
Why? I shall explain as it is something that even those who know me well do not really understand.
As a small child we moved to Enfield in North London. Just five miles or so from White Hart Lane this is very much Spurs territory. When I was 4 they won the league and FA Cup double. The next year they won the FA Cup again. Then the European Cup Winners Cup. When I was 10 they won the FA Cup again. Everyone I knew supported Spurs – even people who knew nothing about football and who had no interest in it (yes apparently there are such people in the world!) were Spurs ‘supporters’.
On my walk to my junior school I’d go past the house of Jimmy Robertson the Spurs outside right who scored in that 1967 Cup Final. His wife was a teacher at my school. A short distance away was Spurs striker Alan Gilzean’s house. Our small parade of local shops where I used to buy my sweets and comics as a boy and my booze and fags as a young man included a launderette which was owned by Mike England the Spurs centre half. At my senior school was Spurs legend Dave Mackay’s son. So when I say this was Spurs territory I am not joking.
When I got into my junior school football team (two years early I might add, I was only 9 and they were all 11) the captain was a lad called Roger Gibbins whose Dad had played for Spurs and who himself went on to play for Spurs although he enjoyed greater success at Norwich, Cambridge and Cardiff. By the time I was 11 and captaining the same school team our first XI consisted of me, one Chelsea fan and 9 Spurs fans. I was quite good back then and a Spurs scout came to watch me for a few weeks. Now I probably wasn’t good enough ultimately but even if I had have been I’d already told my Dad that I wasn’t going to go to Spurs.
Unfortunately for me much of these formative years coincided with us being in a lull and then getting relegated in 1965 and though we bounced back in 1967 we always seemed to lose to Spurs. Being the only Wolves supporter anyone – including me – knew I was the butt of constant ‘banter’ every time we lost. If we lost to Spurs then my life almost wasn’t worth living. N.b. This might seem odd to many of you but I didn’t actually know any other Wolves fans till I was 35 and moved to Bedford where there are loads.
But then came 1971-72 and the mighty Wolves took Europe by storm even beating Italian giants Juventus en-route to the final. By a cruel twist of fate we had to play Spurs in the final despite my most earnest nightly praying that AC Milan would beat them in the semi-finals (cue Basil Fawlty-like fist shaking at the heavens “Thank you God, thank you so bloody much!”). I went to the first leg at Molineux with three Spurs mates and as I was only 15 the only way of getting there was on a coach. A Spurs supporters coach. Can you imagine the journey back after that bastard Chivers had scored that freak long range second goal? I wanted the road to open up and swallow the bloody coach. Never mind we’d do them in the 2nd leg.
I went to the game with the same 3 mates – no segregation in those days of course so I was up in an area of White Hart Lane called The Shelf and was probably the only Wolves fan up there. I had to stand and take it when they scored to go 3-1 up on aggregate but went suitably bananas when Waggy’s Exocet missile flew past Pat Jennings before he’d even seen it. I think it was the fact that I was all on my own celebrating and that I was only little that saved me from getting my head kicked in to be honest. Sadly despite playing them off the park we couldn’t get the equaliser and so at the end I had to witness their players getting the Cup (should’ve been OUR Cup) and doing a lap of honour. School was hell for several weeks afterwards.
Around 7 months later came the time for revenge when we got drawn against Spurs in the League Cup semi-final. Again the first leg was at Molineux and again I went up on a Spurs supporters coach this time with 5 Spurs mates. As if history was cruelly repeating itself we lost 1-2 and the journey home was hell on Earth made worse by the fact it was 20th December and there was a lot of fog which added about an hour or so to our journey. Never mind we’d do them in the 2nd leg.
Again I was in The Shelf. Again I was the only Wolves fan in sight. This time we took the lead. This time I nearly did get my head kicked in as I celebrated but was saved by my mates. Despite their equaliser we played them off the park again and when Johnny Richards’ goal came – in the 88th minute was it? – I was out of control with joy. Up yours Spurs! Stick the UEFA Cup up your arse! We had to move after that for my safety! Sadly, and unfairly I felt at the time, our 2-1 win only cancelled out their 2-1 win at ours and so they somehow got the advantage of 30 minutes extra time at their place during which they scored some rubbish goal to win 4-3 on aggregate. So again those miserable, lucky, nasty, horrible, jammy Spurs had beaten us even though we were far, far better than them. More misery at school for several more weeks.
From that came a feeling. A feeling of hatred towards Spurs. A feeling that admittedly was probably helped by the fact that all my family were Arsenal so me hating Spurs was really just following the family tradition. Years later I married my wife – an Arsenal supporter from an Arsenal supporting family. My best man, Paul Clarkson was a Spurs fan of course. My fate was sealed. I HATE Spurs. They are similar to the Sandwell Shadow Dwellers too in that they are the inferior club in a local rivalry as Arsenal have all the class and history and tradition and are the real ‘big’ club just like us and the Hawthorns rabble.
Of course there have been highlights. Hughie Curran’s header to give us a 1-0 win at WHL in 1969 was a magical moment, right in front of me at the Park Lane end of the ground. My first ever visit to Molineux in February 1970 as a 13 year old was against them (2-2 draw). The brilliant 3-1 away win in November 1973 during the power cuts when the game had to kick off early and I took my then girlfriend Linda Stickley (have a guess who she supported?) was another. The 2-2 draw in 1980 when Kenny Hibbitt had to go in goal to replace the injured Paul Bradshaw also sticks in the mind. Doing the double over them in the 2009/10 season was brilliant and especially the 1-0 at WHL just a few weeks after they’d put 9 past Wigan and all my Spurs’ mates’ were predicting they’d get 10 against us. The most recent highlight was meeting Martin Chivers and Alan Mullery at a corporate hospitality thing at Wembley before an England game and me telling them both how much I hated them and how they’d ruined my life as a teenager. They both laughed (both lovely people to be fair) but they also apologised!
To this day I always of course look for Wolves score first, then Arsenal’s and then Spurs – to see if they have lost. Despite participating in the Barclays Fantasy Football and The Sun Fantasy Football each year for donkey’s years I have never once picked a Spurs player and I never will. I will never win Sky’s Super Six either as if Spurs is one of the results to predict I have to put them to lose regardless. Even if they were playing at home to St Hildas Blind Cub Scouts Reserve team in the FA Cup I would have to predict them to lose.
So there you have it your honour. A fully rational and reasoned argument explaining my detestation of that lot from London N.17.
Mind you I do have a softer side and I did allow my wonderful and beautiful daughter to marry a Spurs fan. Can’t remember his name offhand.
I won’t be at the game on Saturday partly as it is on a Saturday night at 7.45pm, which is an outrageous slap in the face for all those of us who have to travel long distances to Molineux, and partly because it will have been my 62nd birthday 2 days earlier and my family want to do something to celebrate. The stress and nerves involved in watching us play ‘them’ might also be too much for my heart if truth be told! The current Spurs side are to my mind a bunch of overrated divers and cheats. Dele Alli? Diver. Harry Kane? Diver. Danny Rose? Diver. Eric Lamela? Diver. Eric Dier? Dire. Their goalkeeper is a drunk driver and their manager comes from a country that spawned the odious, cheating liar Maradona and who tried to take The Falkland Isles off of us not that long ago.
Prediction? My good friend Clive from Houston has it right as it will be 5-1 to Wolves. Why? Well for one it will be 170 hours and 45 minutes since we last played so we will be nicely rested and prepared whereas they, or most of them, have played twice since then and for another – because WE ARE WOLVES and they, well, they just aren’t!
OODCL
Brilliant post this mate! 62-0 or ‘just’ 5-1 would do nicely!
Where in Bedford are you based? I live over in Great Denham. I was in touch with Mike a few backs about meeting up with the Bedford Wolves lot for a drink, but haven’t sorted anything yet. I’ll drop him a message. Would be good to meet you all!
My mother-in-law, brother-in-law and all their family are Spurs fans, so hopefully I’ll have the bragging rights over them after Saturday!
Happy 62nd birthday! Hope you have a good done. Funnily enough it’s also my Dad’s 62nd on Monday!
Hi Paddy – I am in Brickhill. Mike (BOG) is in Putnoe. We are always on the look out for more members of the Bedford Wolves pack so we should definitely try to get together. Thanks for the birthday wishes. OODCL
Ah I know Brickhill and Putnoe well.
I used to go to school at Thomas More and lived just down from Putnoe on Norse Road.
Sounds good to me. Like I say, I’ll get in touch with Mike.
Jeez Bedders I didn’t really want your life story you hate spurs was enough.
Ruben – some things have to be said and in this case it just had to be said! Don’t worry though I don’t and won’t post often (fair warning – I will be posting ahead of the Arsenal game next weekend so just turn a blind eye if you prefer). OODCL
P.S. I hope you score against them on Saturday especially as you are in my Dream Team.
Nice to read a post from you again Dave. Hope to catch up with you somewhere tomorrow.
He ain’t goin’ Brompto.
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant, It was like being engrossed in a good book. I will be at the match and when we score the 61st goal, I will be thinking of your prediction. Can’t wait now, you have really wetted my appetite for the game. Shame your gonna miss it though. Can you imagine how long MOTD would be on TV for if your prediction became a reality.
Oh, sorry forgot to say “HAPPY BIRTHDAY”
Bill – thank you. It was a bit of a cathartic exercise to be honest but glad you enjoyed it.
OODCL
P.S. Got a birthday card from Ian & Sue (Newark Wolves) – with a picture of a group of Spurs players from the 1970’s lining up to face a free kick. Thanks Newarks!
If this is ….. I Hate Spurs … Part 1… when’s the sequel?
Crikey Bedders …. this is a catch up of all of your posts when in self exile… good to see you’re back mate… just a few more to go now .. Newark Wolf…
So you don’t like spurs much then !
Blimey Bedford, even bog can’t write a post that big, change every ‘spurs’ to ‘ blues ‘ and it’s very similar to much of my experiences so I here ya
Welcome back btw
Utw
Happy 62nd Bedders!
I too watched the ‘mighty’ Spurs beat us at Molineux in the Euro Final and, although I hate to badmouth an ex Wolves ‘keeper, if Patricio, or Ikeme, or Ruddy, or any of our recent ‘keepers had been in goal that night we would have won the game.
Phil Parkes was horribly at fault for both goals. caught in no man’s land for the first and beaten on his near post for the second.
Still, it’s all water under the bridge now isn’t it. All forgotten and forgiven.
Is it buggery!
Happy birthday Dave. Champions League in our time, sound familiar, peace in our time.
Great Post Bedders took me back down memory lane, not White Heart Lane.
I’ve never really been able to pin any logic to why people love or hate a particular team. But suddenly, your post has opened my eyes and I can see exactly why this hatred has festered within your very soul over the years.
You know Dave, I think our heroes are going to put right all the wrongs them b*$£a%d$ have done you, and therefore us all, and put them back in their rightful place. Also rans.
Epic post.
Happy 66nd, Dave! It’s great to see you back on here.
I too was at Molineux for the first leg of the UEFA final against Spurs. We did everything but score that day. That said, I have to admit to having a sneaking regard for them over the years, perhaps because of the Peter/Cyril Knowles connection.
should be a good game with 2 teams who play good football. difficult to see how we are going to win it but won’t predict against us so 1-1 for me
Agreed with Cav and Traore both starting, Costa and Jota simply haven’t done enough this season for me. Whilst it was good to see them run with the ball more and take their man on at Brighton, their end product still wasn’t up to scratch.
Cav has had an impact every time he’s come on since injury, while I’d like to see Traore given a run of games.
Haven’t a clue how the match will go tomorrow. Tottenham will enjoy more of the possession, but I think we’ll enjoy plenty of the ball too.
Davies looks like he can be got at, so hopefully that’s an area we will exploit.
Depends what team turns up blazing
I would not be surprised at all if we beatt them but I just think they will have too much for us
I just hope we attack them though nothing to be afraid of,
Troure jimenez cav up front I’d start with.
Himley Bonfire and fireworks or a night supporting my beloved Wolves. Needless to say the match takes priority . Wife will have to take kids to Himley, I’m off down Molineux.
Just hope we produce and get a result. All the pundits are set against us . Merson , Lauro and every betting site I have looked at says were are going to lose.
Ever the optimist I am gonna stick my neck out and say we might nick three points (fingers crossed)
The fireworks will be better at Molineux anyway!
We need a win and the way for that to happen is predict a loss, so
I have no real clue as to what the outcome of this game will be; hopefully a good performance and points for us! Surely, some time we are going to reap the benefit of such attacking play as was apparent last weekend, but, maybe, not against such a good team as Spurs, barring an awful day for them; we can hope.
I am still in seventh heaven when we are on song and fully appreciative of the beautiful game we can play after nearly thirty years of mainly failure… I will go for a draw but know anything can happen. The Leicester and Glenn Hoddle events do put things into real perspective and all football lovers will be thinking sadly of the losses along with those lost in the armed conflicts, so we need good entertainment to lift us and in respect to all…
Bad form continues
All the games in this league are hard, some are harder than others, this being one of them. If we can muster the same determination and grit then we should take a point from this. Of course we can beat them but I am not that optimistic.
I was thinking about how effective Doc is going forward the other night. Then I thought what if we brought Vin in at left back, switch Jonny to right back and put Doc in place of Costa? Would like to see that happen at some point in the season, maybe an FA Cup game, just to see if it would work or I am talking bollocks and it’s a rubbish idea? 🙂
A draw it is but I would be absolutely chuffed if we beat them.
Onward’s & Upwards
Mike
your spot on mate i said this a few weeks ago when i had a dream about how we could score more goals
Agreed on most of what you say Sevlow.
Draw for me too.
COMBs!
Well done Bedford Wolf for highlighting the animosity a lot of us Southern dwelling Wolves fans feel towards the white harts (athletico mince reference there…!) . Spurs are my least favourite London club (Charlton/QPR my faves)
would love us to win but am predicting a draw
i am with bedford on this one. I am with him all the way in hating spurs as much as sandwell.
Reason… that eufa cup season and a few more around that time.
They were our bogey side , their fans always wanted a punch up and always got one.
I went to the eufa final home and away . At their place some spurs lads got in amongst us and all hell let loose i remember the temple street boys went into their end and had a right set too ,what a night that was Oh the good old days.
But many years on and here we are again, they have some cracking players but are not such a good team as their individuals would warrant.
We on the other hand dont have as many quality players but we are i think a better team and with that in mind i predict us to turn them over ….just
this time round i shall watch from the safety of my settee
I hate spurs more than that pile of crap at the end of Lozells road.
The amount of dismay, disappointment and sundry other dis-words those spawny, Chaz n Dave loving toss-pieces have shovelled over my/our beloved Wolves during the last half-century doesn’t bear thinking about…and I want a win, Nuno! Nothing less.
UTW
We are overdue the good fortune we need in front of goal Jimeniz is a good link up forward and deserves a goal along with Neves and Boly.
Wolves 2 Spurs 0 – this will keep Bedford Wolf in clover for weeks and weeks.
I ain’t got a clue where the goals will come from ’cause we couldn’t score in a brothel at the mo…
Maybe two “og’s”. Yes that will do nicely.
Whilst I do not have such animosity towards Tottenham as those born in the Smoke, since moving to Bedford and making acquaintances with football supporters from across the spectrum – particularly London clubs due to the close proximity of Bedford to the capital, I can say without fear of contradiction I will take a large amount of shit from a number of Spurs supporters especially the postman and his ‘oppo, at least three lads from the local pool/gym and probably my nephews wife in Dunstable whose family are a mixture of Spurs/Chelsea.
Please win Wolves……………
Thank you
We will be eating at Nero and Rosso -the Italian restaurant in Darlington Street – prior to kick off if anybody wants to pop in. Table booked for 5.00.
BOG
See you there BOG.
Sadly, I do not have as much faith in Wolves winning tomorrow. Hopefully I am wrong.
I doubt that Nuno will accept three consecutive defeats so will have had the squad working overtime this week. For me last week Traore showed exactly why he should be used as an impact sub and not a starter, so I’d go with Cav and Costa alongside Raul. This is another club that has been dining at the top table a lot longer than us so to expect a win is asking a lot, but no reason why we can’t take a point as we did against the Manchester ‘giants’.
Oops, forgot me score…
Time has allowed the dust to settle after the Brighton match..so some reflections
1 My 1-1 forecast was correct…that effin defender that just nudged Neves’ free kick over the bar wasn’t there
2 General comments around are that we need a ‘clinical’ striker, but floating hopeful crosses into the box will never work against a competent PL defence. Our goals usually come from cutbacks and layoffs so if in doubt we need to cross low and hard like Ferguson’s teams used to. Its clinical creativity we need.
3 that said, I read that we have had 145 attempts on goal,,,so that means one goal for every 16 attempts…does that mean we need a clinical striker or players who can shoot straight?
4 Based on Brighton, bring Traore on for last 30 mins…full stop,
5 Doherty is a glass half full…but I can see the case for a glass half empty. He gets into great positions but he’s not a 50Milllion quid half back
Next two games will show whether we have got the hang of the PL…suffocating defence and efficient finishing. 0 points would not be the end of the season but more than 0 will be encouraging.
I too have scars from the Chivers long range shot..I was right behind the goal..hope Neves can pay back tomorrow
Here’s another reason or two to dislike Martin Chivers.
In his autobiography, “Chiv”, he says he could never forgive Bill Nicholson for popping into the Wolves dressing room immediately after the Uefa Cup win to congratulate our lads on the way they had played and console them a little by telling them that they were the better team over the two games.
Chivers believed Bill Nick should instead have been celebrating the lucky win with his Spurs team. Chivers felt this even at Nicholson’s funeral in 2004!
Bill Nick was a gentleman.
I was also in the South Bank behind the goal when the second one flew in. My heart sank. Chivers says that he miss-kicked it; he was playing for time by booting it up into the stand, as he would have been happy to leave Molineux with a draw. Somehow he caught it wrong (or right?).
What could have been.
Fix it for us today, Wolves 2018.
Bedders,
In the words of the immoral Peters and Lee. (He was never right that bloke)
Welcome home.
Welcome home.
Come on in and close the door.
And get your Southern arse back on this blog.
Well I was going to go for a 0-2 Spurs win, but FFS, I daren’t now after Bedders’s post,
So tongue in cheek :-
Wolves 1
Spurs 0
Neck stuck well and truly out on this one, but got to get behind Bedders.
Double botox.
Sorry Bedders.
Happy Birthday old man, hope you have a great day. Spurs are laying on coaches for £10, as the last train is 17 minutes after the final whistle.
Bloody Sky
Now that I’ve straightened out DJ’s issues, the goals should start flowing.
Wolves 2-1 Spurs.
Did you really have to injure him though Tim?
It’s heartwarming to read opposition fans’ blogs refer to Wolves with respect and associating us with good football. What a long way we’ve come!
I know we’re all still reeling from the 2 Ls on the trot, but this will be a much tougher encounter. Spurs are probably going to be the 2nd best team we’d have played this season. I’m afraid I only see one outcome. W!
Go Wolves!
Don’t ya just love a night game at home when everyone outside wolves are predicting an away win !
We haven’t had a villa, Bristol City, Cardiff , Boro type game so farthis season ………..yet
I’m getting headaches trying to work out our best wingers now tbh so I’ll just trust our bearded philosopher to make the right call
I fancy a few goals and a brilliant game, poppies and fireworks, enjoy the game If your lucky enough to have a ticket, this maybe the first game this season that I watch slightly delayed as it’s a 3 45 am kickoff, but chances are I’ll wake around 5 mins before start and stick the kettle on just in time for the fun
Neves , Jota and Jiminez

WELCOME HOME, BEDDERS, YOU OLD TOSSER!!
And Happy 85th for yesterday, or whenever it was.
Is there a sequel, or is it a Lord of the Rings thing?
I too have vivid memories of that second leg EUFA Cup Final.
I won’t bore you with the whole day, but the end proved what a bunch of cowardly twats spurm fans are.
Around midnight, a bus load of us, well oiled, were waiting for the coach in Trafalgar Square.
We were up the top, looking down on the lions and fountains and all the other stuff, and a load of spurm fans started dancing in the fountain.
Being drunk, I was not standing for that, and proceeded to start down the steps to have a polite discussion.
Right at my side was Ada.
He had no last name, ginger hair and always wore the same dark turquoise suit.
(If anyone knows him, let me know, he was a nutter, but we loved him)
We sallied forth to battle, with the knowledge that the rest of the busload would be right behind us.
Wrong.
They all stayed up top, ready to witness a massacre.
Wrong again. The spurm cowards all ran off, thinking the two of us couldn’t be stupid enough to try and take them on.
Proves the adage about suvern softies.
And, the bastards stole my hat after the 74 win over City, when Big Mark and I were innocently looking for fish n chips somewhere in North London.
Bastards.
Third on my no love lost list, below the shit and Leeds.
On to tomorrow.
The posers,(have you seen how Ali minces over the pitch?) have “played” twice already this week, so will be ripe for plucking (Cockerel, get it?) and we’ll stuff ’em.
5 – 1
Don’t care who scores.
Have I written more than Bedders yet?
FOwb
Dim Tim Spiers has said, “Jota not playing tomorrow”
Nuno gave no reason.
Mmmmmm.
Conspiracy theory begins.
We are overdue a bit of luck ,having a referee with average sight to see and a heart big enough to give us the penalties we should be given would be a start. Kane is off to Real Madrid for £200 mill in January so he wont be pushing himself, for the rest, nothing to fear if we play to our capabilities.
We still cannot score though – I would love to know why Nuno will not start Cav and Adama together.
Be happy with the one goal which seems about our level at present ,hopefully that will be enough.
I’m another who can’t call this; then, can anyone in this great game and with the team we follow?
I’m up for Costa to have one last go before moving to the bench. I’ll also put Cav alongside him and have the ‘steam train’ revert to once again be the impact sub with 30 minutes to go. Spurs, 4 games in 8 days, big squad ok, but still asking a lot, especially with that must win game to follow on Tuesday.
We didn’t like another record under NUS being broken last week in back to back losses, and we’d rather not make it 3 in a row, so what with the atmosphere there will be tomorrow evening, I’m going for the whole 3 points.
I think they might just pip us with this one.
This will need a tough tough game .
Heart says draw head says we’ll lose.
So it’s 2 – 2 for me.
Cav & Traore, Cav & Costa, either will do for me. I have one wish for tomorrow. If that bloody mincer Alli dives in our box and gets yet another undeserved penalty then Big Willy should be unleashed to absolutely and completely blitz the cheating bastard.
Aside from that I see a pleasant little game of footy with us getting a bit of well deserved revenge.
Agree with a lot of you saying we should have more points on the board as we have been unlucky on numerous occasions and our finishing has let us down a number of times as well. We are too good for this bad run to continue but I am joining everyone else in calling for an experienced and proven goal scorer in the transfer window. Unfortunately, I think Spurs will have too much about them for us Saturday Knight, so three defeats on the trot it is. COYW.
AT LEAST THE KNIGHT IS A WOLVES FAN…
Good to see Bedders back.
I see the Wolfaholics Anonymous sessions didn’t work then.
It doesn’t matter how much you say you’ll never blog again, if it’s in yer blood, you can’t give it up. I’ve tried it and it’s just not possible.
Well, I haven’t tried it actually because there’d be no point. So you’re all doomed to put up with my maundering on until the great Doog in the sky calls me to don the number 1 jersey in paradise.
Me and the PMDG’er have been in London for a couple of days getting a fix of culture. This afternoon we visited The Tate to see the Burne-Jones exhibition. Didn’t he play on the wing for Spurs and Wales?
Well, whoever he played for he could certainly paint a cracking nude!
That’s what I call culture!
As far as tomorrow is concerned, I have just got a funny feeling that we might turn them over. They’ve played a lot of games in a short time and they’ve got a ‘make or break’ European match coming up.
Nuno will have our lot fired up and it’s about time we gave them a spanking.
Talking of which…
We need to get them back for lumbering us with Stefan Iversen all those years ago!
Shame about the kick off time.
Start Cav sure but I would keep Traore for the last half hour; and keep Raul on the pitch for the full 90 if possible because the guy can head the ball and a lot of our desperate last-minute crosses last weekend really needed a target man on the end of them.
Portugal versus England, it’s going to be a draw!!!
We’ll create chances and I think we’ll get a goal in this one. Im hoping for a really good end to end sort of game between two teams who play football the right way.
I do think that Spurs’ extra touch of quality will help them nudge this one.
I think a point would be good. Two would be a miracle. Don’t understand the comments about Davies. Strong, quick, decent player but hope he has an off day tomozzer.
Two points would indeed be a miracle Steppenwolfe.
After the 62-0 prediction, the very least I would predict is a 1-0 victory.
Apart from the UEFA Cup Final … another smug memory of a Spurs encounter was in the FA Cup replay at Highbury following the 2v2 at Hillsborough.
I mean Highbury and an evening kick off … on Spurs’ feckin doorstep….well at least the Arsenal fans shouted for us.
Heading home out of Highbury in our transit van we pass a crowd of Spurs fans in a bus stop giving it large with three fingers … “3 Nil to the Tottenham…” and thinking they were in a safe place..
Then suddenly the doors on the back of the transit unleashed and out sprang 8 of us and gave the bastids a bashing…. cool as you like jumping back in the transit so as not to hold up the traffic…. yo gotta loff…
Back to tomorrow and they won’t fancy this …with us noisy lot bellowing out the songs. Three games in 6 days can wreck any athlete and I’m hoping that Traore, Costa, Cav or Jota will be leaving the Spurs defenders with twisted blood…. Not ignoring Harry …our Coady will tuck him up nicely …zzzzz
I’m predicting an open game with a high score by our standards…. Raul, Neves and Cavaleiro on the scoresheet…
Oh btw …happy birthday BEDDERS…
Come on Twixxers, yow gorra be jokin’
You couldn’t punch yer way out of a wet paper bag.
Bloody hell, Twix. I was on that bus. Didn’t we think about kidnapping one of the twats?
Like it Sea Pigeon …..I was happy just to get back in the van.. job done … the gits weren’t loffing after that ….. the queue was snail pace until the start of the M1….
This is surreal SP… now you mention it my memory has been jogged … and yes … that was the topic of conversation….
My memory is a bit lacking though but the event will not be forgotten…
That will serve them right …… feking bus wankers.
Hope to catch up with you sometime tomorrow Mike.
Hard game tomorrow but I fancy us to bounce back and get a big win.
1-0 Wolves, Cavaleiro
This is the first year that I have participated in the Wolves Blog – even though I have read it previously. I am a passionate Wolves supporter – having followed them since those glorious days of the 50’s – but this week’s blog makes me realise why it is so enjoyable. I am now 73 years old, retired and have moved close to my grandsons in Kent – so my visits to the hollowed ground are rare. Television provides a wonderful opportunity to see how the team is progressing – so I truly welcome it.
However given that my wife was born in West Bromwich (but fortunately has no interest in football) and my daughter married a South African who is a Spurs supporter (and hence has persuaded my two grandsons (aged 9 and 7) to also become Spurs supporters) – I struggle to find kindred spirits who share my passion for Wolves.
What this blog trail has helped define is the background to my hate of three football teams – WBA, Leeds and Spurs. The first two are obvious – the Baggies because of who they are, Leeds because of the period when Revie, Bremner, Hunter were there. The Spurs, I think, is for all the reasons described here. They definitely seem like a bogey team – that always had a habit of destroying our dreams. I recall Martin Chivers as being a particular hate of mine – probably because he was so good!
So now I have to contend with the challenge of how to handle the grandsons. I have recently started collecting the Match Attack cards in order to create a small bond with them about football – we now trade cards although my two grandsons have 285 and 266 respectively against my 83!
They keep crowing about the fact that the highest Spurs score was 9 goals against Watford whereas Wolves highest is 4 ( I presume only Premier League scores count).
So I have a lot at stake. I would desperately love a Wolves win – but I am hoping that, at least, we will get a draw.
Everything is crossed – and it is great that it is on TV.
Welcome to our beloved blog, Dr. Phil.
I hope you ain’t the Dr. Phil tosser who is on the tv over here!!
Wish I had his money Clive – I gather he is a BIG hit over there!
You missed the S off the front of that descriptive word!!
I was born in West Bromwich; with one of the largest maternity hospitals in the area, I had little choice!
But, with decent parents, and a good bath, I soon shook off the stench.
I was born in West Bromwich, but I was made (literally and figuratively) in Darlaston.
They have quality all over the pitch. Lloris has been a bit shaky lately and I know we up our performances but I can’t see us getting anything out of this.
Can’t see us losing another , can’t see us winning it either
Cmon you wolves
Statistically, Tottenham really should win this one four times out of five but I think this is going to be the one in five that they don’t.
All we have to do is convert a couple of our chances and, God knows, we create enough of those.
Bollocks to the Prediction League, Wolves to win . . . . . . . . . . . . . EVERY time!
I expect our boys to up their game after the two defeats, and given that Spurs seem to have their off days, not as reliable as, say Man City or Liverpool, I’m looking for a 2-0 win for us.
We always bounced back after a defeat in the championship. Now we will have to bounce back from two. Fair enough, it’s the big league, it’s tough at the top.
I have a theory that we play better against the big teams. Clearly Watford and Brighton are too crap for us to win against! I think we can prove this by beating Spurs and it could 2-1.
Thomas, is it me or is the EDIT function not working as it should? I’ve edited my comments two weeks running but the comments weren’t updated.
Ok kids it’s my first night game of the season and I’m pretty excited. I hate Spurs after years working in London without doubt the sort of fans who believe someone owes them something. Can’t see us winning but think we will put in a performance one all.
Spurs have been our bogeyman from when I started going to the Mol in early 50s and it would be good to give them a good stuffing. Unfortunately I can’t see us doing that at the moment.
Law of averages say’s we must get one in the back of the net soon surely.
Wolves 1-Divers 2
Whatever happens over the next couple of games there is no need to panic there is at least 8 teams worse than us. We do however need to score more goals but i think there had been a slight tweet in our play this season the wide forwards are stopping wide and the wing backs are driving in hence the reason why Jota and Costa are low on goals. Still feel we have goals in the team though
If we can draw with Man City then we can beat spurs..
But who will score?
You can write pages about what we might refine and who we should switch but the bare facts are we need two strikers and yesterday ..
My call for mendes to the rescue hasn’t worked yet..
So let’s ask again..
Mendes has to wait until January like the rest of us.
We’re in a rut at the moment and the next 2 games are tougher still.
Spurs might well have too much for us I think. So 2-1 to Spurs for me.
Still positive after all this time.
As has been said, we play better against the better teams. Not that Spurs are a better team than us, they just happen to have some better players. The same, of course, applied to Citeh and Manure and it didn’t get them the three points.
We can beat them. In fact we will beat them. No question. No doubt. As long as the ref has the balls to stand up and call out their divers and fakers, and we get the odd slice of fortune around the box, the three points will be ours.
What a night it’s going to be.
Oh, and happy birthday Bedders. 🙂
Lack of goals is worrying now and I can’t see that changing anytime soon.
Jota injury could be a blessing, but we should start with Cavaleiro rather than Traore.
The big bosses of FOSUN are in town for this match, so expect a good show before the game. Let’s hope we can do the same on the pitch too.
After 2 disappointing results this is the sort of game we will get something out of. COYW
We need a result here, but Spurs maybe a step too far
Is your name related to Edgar Broughton, by any chance?
Oh yes!
Used to watch them in the late 60s, especially at Wake Arms Epping!
A rather uncompromising style his band had, that’s for sure.
After last weeks Alamo ,
We must get something out of the next two games.
So on that basis I’m going for a win tomorrow night,God please,
Tottenham are a very good side as we well know, but I really think we can beat them if only we take our chances.
It should be be a great night what ever happens, this’s what it’s all about playing in the best league in the world and the world will be watching..
UTW FOWB.
So this poor girl is crying in the police station.
“I’ve been raped by a Spurs fan”
” How do you know he was a Spurs fan?”
” I had to help him”
Rape is NOT a subject to joke about in any way, shape or form. No exceptions.
It’s a joke.
Jokes are meant to be funny, to someone.
ALL jokes can be offensive to somebody, that’s the point.
It is not joking about rape, or making light of it.
If you cannot see that, then you miss the point entirely.
Unfortunately mate that DOESN’T seem to be the point.
I’ve had a post on here deleted because, I assume, it was accompanied by a picture painted by one of Britain’s greatest artists. It was a nude and it obviously offended someone. It hasn’t, as far as I know, offended any of the thousands who have attended the exhibition so far.
Although most of them would probably be offended by the language which is allowed on this blog.
I’m not criticising anybody in particular. None of what goes on here has offended me in the slightest. it just shows how difficult it is to police social media.
I posted quite a long comment earlier and included a picture of an Edward Burne-Jones nude that the present Mrs DG’er and I saw at The Tate Gallery this afternoon.
I’ve just noticed that it’s been deleted.
I apologise if I’ve transgressed the decency laws on the blog.
Unfortunately all my words of wisdom have gone too and I’m really to tired to write them again so I’ll just do my prediction.
This is the kind of game where my heart and my mind completely disagree with each other. Heart wants a win – mind says no chance! I think my mind has a point here as we have not been scoring against lower teams. Trying to hold on to my lofty position in this prediction league, I have to go with my mind. Will not be sorry to get it completely wrong though.
While not perhaps being as venomous as some other contributors, I have to confess that I too have had a longstanding dislike of Spurs. For me it started with Cliff Jones who seemed to make a habit of running at top speed down the wing and then, when an opponent came close, throwing himself into the penalty area. Diving was not unknown of course even in 1960, but he – literally – threw himself into it. The refs were wise to him and I can’t recall him ever winning a penalty against us. Later of course my feelings were compounded by the events mentioned above.
Having said that, they were- and still are – well supplied with good players and normally provided stiff opposition. I remember Dave MacKay playing at inside forward instead of wing half on one occasion and he was awesome.
What about Saturday then? Sadly my prediction – with others – was correct last week, but I do think we have a good chance this time round, for one thing it’s about time RN popped up again with one of his specials, and so I’m going for a narrow win. COYW
I can see us breaking the goal drought, but it may just not be enough to snare a point or more
It’s 30 degrees in the shade here in Bali, so I’II be brief.
It would be nice to pick up a point (or three) here as next week’s fixture (Arsenal away) looks even more daunting. Let’s go for a win.
Looking forward to some coldish weather back home on Monday…..
We bought a fridge the other day.
It’s an AEG ‘Santo’. We couldn’t resist that.
It’s sitting humming in a corner.
The wife is very worried that this Saturday it’ll be jumping around the kitchen making a hell of a racket, after we’ve got our first big 6 scalp.
ho ho ho!
We’re still waiting for that well overdue 2-1 victory.
Bonkers!
Good decision mate.
It’ll certainly be the coolest thing in your house.
Going for a draw.
I fancy us finding our shooting boots and hitting the back of the net at home under the floodlights. With a cracking atmosphere at home I hope we supply fireworks on the pitch as well as off.
I can see another good performance coming up here but we’re just not getting the rub of the green at the moment. I think we’ll score tonight but spurs will as well.
Another tough game but no reason why we can’t win this. Most likely a draw but heart says a win.
On paper and according to all the so-called experts Wolves are going to lose. But I have two reasons for predicting a win.
I cannot ever go against us and Spurs are playing their third game in six days.
I once took two Spurs supporting mates to The Molineux and all the way they discussed, seriously, by how many Spurs would win. Would it be by 3 or 4 etc? Anyway we won 1-0. They were surprised Wolves fans weren’t excited. I told them cos it’s no big deal beating Spurs. And it won’t be a big deal tonight.
Not sure their midweek outing will affect things too much HW. It was two reserve teams, by all accounts.
Would love a win but I’ll take a point. Would love to see Cav start.
Please please Uncle Jeff can we have somebody in January who can find the back of the net!!!! Thank you.
COYW
Head says we have no chance, heart says we are due a win.
Difficult to be too optimistic about this one but we might just sneak a draw.
I was so positive that we would beat Watford the other week that my confidence has still not recovered. Last week, for all our attempts to score against Brighton, we remained unconvincing in front of goal.
I’ m hoping that against Spurs the team will be uplifted by the night time atmosphere of the home support and manage to score a goal. However, I can’t get a score line of Wolves 1 Spurs 2 out of my head.
Other than the enforced absence of Jota I don’t expect to see many changes in personnel unless Nuno decides to shuffle the pack into different positions.
A place on the bench for Bonatini seems a waste and I would like someone else to be given a chance if the situation should arise.
All I want for Christmas is a goalscorer.
Disappointed with the performance v Watford. Much better v Brighton but no points. Ever hopeful (can’t be any other way as a Wolves supporter). Stick my neck out for a Wolves win.
This is a hard one to predict as both sides want to play football the right way and both create chances. I do think Spurs have got a bit more than us though………
I remember as a kid being so disappointed, when I found out Spurs and Tottenham Hotspur were the same club.
We are overdue for a couple of goals! I’ll settle for one and hope that Boly and co.
can hold the fort!
Feeling not quite at one: I’m in a bar in bali (23:30 local time, 15.30 UK time) listening to a band, with Everton v Brighton in the background. The question is do I stay awake until 3:45 to catch the Wolves game? Flying back tomorrow……
Have a safe fight pal, and savour the 3 points on the journey home!
Cheers mate.
Still awake, with 20 mins to match start. Still searching for that live tv feed.
Under the lights and with Tottenham’s brutal recent run, I back us to cause an upset tonight.
Really tricky one to predict this but I’ll give it a go…… And what a silly time for a KO?!
Last two games against top 6 sides have been 1-1 draws so predict the same.
Really hoping this could be a special night for us wanderers.
I’ve been totally shafted by the telly and the trains though, meaning that although I’ll spend 7 hours and nearly £40 travelling to and from this game I won’t get to watch the end of it.
One of my best mates is a spurs fan.
Today he’s no mate.
Heart says Wolves win.
Head says a draw would be brilliant.
I prefer Cardio to Psych
Another 1-1 prediction.
Wolves 7 spurs 5.bolloxed on mates stag do in Liverpool. FWAW.
Common sense says probable defeat, heart says possible draw. As ever common sense wins.
I’d be more than happy with a point so I’m going for a score draw
Lost the plot again this could be a disaster !
And to add insult to injury the linesman is a spurs fan ! Wanker
And the fffffffffin ref !
I give in I’m going to bed fffffffin disaster before I kick the dog and I love the dog
Sorry but we played Like a championship side tonight
Ok I didn’t go to bed but why did it take us till that long to wake up!
BLOODY he’ll I’m pissed off and now I hate those cockney twats even more ….. and I didn’t think that was possible.
Oldest cliche there is – goal.s change games – but not when incompetent officials give them offside
What can you do when the officials are shit. Should have been 3-3 at least
On the bright side, Jimenez scored two tonight.
Am I being biased by saying this was the most one sided loss I’ve ever seen? Spurs were the better team… for roughly 15 mins otherwise they were ordinary.. no scrub that we made then look ordinary. The difference is as ever being clinical and also ffs if we go a goal down maintain composure.
Yeah agree u don’t normally see a team play so well and lose but yet again we have to put these chances away
Costa wastfull am I the only one who thinks he might just be a little out of depth, he hasn’t any composure in front of goal, no goals no assists, we need January to hurry up and buy 2 strikers yeah 2
Our build up play is excellent just don’t have someone to stick it in the net
Still very proud of wolves but we need to start picking up points
Mgw might get the vote over moutiniho now we will see.
