Over the last two and a bit Premier League seasons Wolves have definitely gone into games in worse positions, yet somehow I don’t think Mick McCarthy has ever needed a win more than he does on Saturday.

With the fans frustrated, the ability of every single player called into question and his own head firmly on the chopping block, nothing but three points will diminish the mounting pressure.
Should five defeats in a row become six ahead of a trip to Man City, both his and the team’s prospects would be decidedly bleak.
But if past experience is anything to go by we know that McCarthy and Wolves are often at their most dangerous when they’re firmly up against it.
And on paper at least, you couldn’t ask for better opponents than Swansea.
From four away fixtures thus far, they’ve registered four defeats. However, it should be noted they have already visited the Emirates, the Etihad Stadium and Stamford Bridge, losing out most recently at Carrow Road last weekend.
We know they’re a pacy, we know they like to get it down and pass so there shouldn’t be any surprises in that respect. The challenge for Wolves is to effectively combat this style and enforce our game onto them.
The Team
With Swansea almost certain to lineup 451, I’ll be amazed if Mick doesn’t match them like for like, particularly with Steven Fletcher ruled out.
The back four, the front one and two of the midfielders are almost certain to remain the same. Filling in the rest of the gaps isn’t quite so easy. This is the team I reckon we might see:

So that’s one change with Hunt in for Hammill. I just feel Mick might go with the experience and tenacity of Hunt for this one. If the Irishman has one of his big games it just lifts the whole team and we desperately need a vintage Hunt performance in this one.
Guedioura and Edwards are probably both in with a shout too and the former is definitely overdue a start in the Premier League. SEB is also available if Mick decides 442 is the way to go, which I hope he doesn’t.
Prediction League
Six people said we’d lose to Albion last time out. Two got the score spot on.
So well done to Kowloon Wolf and martin for picking up the maximum three points on offer.
The rest get a single point.
robin changed his prediction from a 2-0 loss to a 2-0 win ten minutes before kick-off after hearing Milijas and Hammill were playing. Sorry matey, have to take your final answer.
This weekend, I’m going for a home win.
There’s no logic, I just can’t bear to face the prospect of another home defeat so I’m burying my head in the sand.
It’s imperative they’re out of the blocks quickly and on the front foot. We need to be the team building momentum and asking questions.
3-1 Wolves.
If you’re at Molineux for this one have a great time and lets all roar the lads on from the first kick.
Up The Wolves.

2-0 win – c’mon Wolves, we can win this! For the sake of the fans’ sanity, win this!
3-1 loss and Mick to be gone by Monday.
ever the optimist.
I’ve predicted a win every week so far this season, it worked in the first couple of weeks and quite clearly hasn’t worked since.
I now don’t know whether to stick to my guns until we turn it round, or predict a loss in the hope of making the team win.
That said, what one guy writes on a message board should have no bearing whatsoever on the performance of the team, so I’m gonna go with an ugly 2-1 victory to the boys in gold (well, orange) and hope that it kick starts the season and we get back up to midtable.
We’re still yet to dip into the bottom 3 this term, hopefully we’ll keep this up till May!
Ever the optimist…
UTW, COMB!!!!
I’ll go for a 1-1 draw, stopping the rot but with not quite enough improvement.
Mick to survive scraping a 1-0 win…but wait, who’s that sliding into a seat for the second half? Steve McClaren? No it’s Martin O’Neil (wishful thinking)
Uninspiring 1-1 draw. Doyle to scuff one in from six yards on the hour mark when ‘breaking the net’ was a more viable option.
2-0. Gotta keep the faith.
As I’m trying to remain optimistic I’ll say 3-1 Home win. Wolves come flying out of the blocks with a Johnson header from a set piece, only to get pegged back before half time. SEB comes on at half time and bags one and a Jarvis tap in makes it three as Swansea chase the equaliser late on.
Enough to stop the rot, not quite enough to stop the boo boys as were hanging on close to the end. Hennessey ends up being man of the match with Wardy a close second after laying on two of the goals.
Clive finally caves at wardy’s defensive and attacking prowess and proclaims him to be Wolves saviour in disguise!
I can dream can’t I?
Maybe Clive should do that with Ward – Karl Henry’s proving to be much easier a scapegoat ATM! 😛
…Unless he enjoys the challenge?
4-0 to Wolves. It’ll be like Blackpool at home all over again……please
If Berra “plays” we will lose, simple.
The gaping hole he creates in our defense is comparable to the Grand Canyon.
Ward has improved, so I’ll lay off him for a while!
I’m going for a win, as always, coz that’s the only result that matters.
I don’t care what the score is, I don’t care who scores, I don’t care if it’s the most boring, ugly game ever seen at the Mol, as long as we score more than them.
But I don’t think we will.
McDickwadheadidiot to go by Monday….at the latest!!!
FOMM
I agree with you on Berra. I think a lot of the problems with our defense at the moment are due to us having no pace in the middle. Watching Johnson and Berra turn is like watching two super tankers attempt to do the tango! Berra compounds it though with pulling and pushing the opposition players, is only a matter of time before he gives away a cheap penalty. I’d be tempted to stick Stearman or Zubar in there instead with Foley/Doherty at right back.
Can’t agree with you on McCarthy yet though I understand everyone’s frustration. I just can’t get passed the image in my head of Wolves hiring a Mclaren/Dowie/Laws/Brown type manager citing their “experience of managing clubs in this situation” for which we can read “they were cheap and promised not to insult the chairman or chief executive”.
For all of his flaws I still think Mick the magician will get keep us up again and a mid table slot isn’t out of the question. Though a win on saturday would make me feel a whole lot happier and confident about the situation.
I agree with you Sheffield, as much as I want Mick to go I am also terrified by the Mclaren/Dowie/Laws/Brown type manager that you just know Moxey will inflict upon us. Altough at the moment I would include McCarthy in that bunch too!
Sheffield Wolf in agree with Clive shocker!
I thought it was only fair as Clive agreed to lay off Ward for a while. I imagine normal service will be resumed on Monday though, hopefully after a 3-1 wolves win so I (and wolves) can get some more points on the board!
Have to agree with you about everything but berra, who would you replace him with?
Up the wolves.
Prediction 1-0 in favor of wolves, but I’m not really optimistic. Ward will have to do it all, especially with Fletcher out for another month..
I’m going to say 1 – 1 draw
We can`t keep a clean sheet and we can`t score. The managers has put a team together not fit for purpose in the premiership. Not enough pace, mobility or ability individually or collectively.
Swansea have tremendous pace with small quick wingers, all of whom have severly embarrassed Ward in previous times. They will be too quick and mobile and I hate to say it, Swansea will probably win 2-0
I hope so Mark I really hope so !!!
I’ll admit I know next to nowt about Swansea, but if they ‘keep it on the deck’ and ‘play with pace’ as the blog suggests, then I foresee another QPR-like embarrassment … so I’ll hazard a “hope I’m wrong” guess at:
Wolves 1-2 Swansea.
BTW, Thomas, your predicted scoreline appears to be missing …
Good spot. Corrected now. 3-1 Wolves.
Well done on reaching the summit by the way.
You are the oracle (of doom for this weekend at least).
All hail.
goal goals gooooooooaalllls!
4-2 SEB to bang in a couple of late ones.
On a side note, did anyone else note that Kightly hobbled off after 20 minutes for Watford last night?
…how predictable.
Saw he was subbed, didn’t know it was an injury. Could he be finished?
As for prediction, 1-1.
Hamstring apparently Martin, so at least it wasn’t his knees! Going back to your Turner reference. That was another game…Oxford at home (wasn’t it Boxing Day or a Bank Holiday?) Anyway, yes, Cookie scored a pen. We must have sung Turner out more than I rememeber. poor bloke!!
Just can’t see us scoring so in a desperate attempt to be as positive as this situation allows – 0-0
Swansea will win a penalty after Berra does his usual impression of Len Fairclough (for those of you who are too young – Len Fairclough liked to get close to young boys for all the wrong reasons) but our one shining light SUPER Wayne will save McNumptys job for one more week.
I note Swansea have lost all their away games so far.
They have scored 2 and conceded 12.
On this basis I am going for a 2-0 on Saturday, please ignore any other predictions Thomas!
However, if we lose McDickhead must go.
lets go 2-0 jarvis and milijas to win it for us 😀
2-1 to Wolves. O’Hara and SEB score.
Also interesting: This game is on ESPN2 in the U.S. On my cable guide, the program listing reads “English Championship Soccer.” Gulp.
on a side note, just read this bit of transfer tittle tattle.
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,,11699_7252974,00.html
if true, we’re in for a new left back.
Would you all still say that’s our priority for new recruits?
Ward has been phenomenal, but Elokobi is not adequate cover. But we need a new Defensive midfielder and a 4th striker before a 2nd LB in my opinion…
On a different side was reading yahoo and apparently we have the best cross accuracy rate in the division at 30%. I’m sure they must think that Jarvis and Hunt have been crossing to the corner flag!
Don’t expect him to play straight away if he can’t speak English, or becomes homesick…
or if SEB fancies trying out that left back spot just for a change
3-0 Milijas,Doyle and Ohara
Would love to see a win. If Doyle and Seb can’t score against the Swans then we’ll really be in trouble-think it may be a high scoring game so my heart is going 3-2 and my head says 0-2. It all depends on a good start and getting the first goal. Remember the first 15 mins V QPR-if we go that route we’ll lose.
Nowt to do with Swansea, but has anyone seen this?

Basically the idea is to stage a coordinated protest against high ticket prices in the Prem. I know its something alot of people feel strongly about (£40 for Newcastle!!! Not to mention Cheslea away…) The organisers stress its a protest against prices in general, not specifically Wolves prices. The plan is for both sets of supporters to be completely silent for the first ten minutes, irregardless of goals/cards/horrendous errors by Wolves players. The infos all on the Facebook page.
It’s only been going a few days, but it’s already picked up quite a bit of momentum – £600 in donations to go towards banners and leaflets, and a article in the Sunderland fanzine. Could be the start of something big…But I know it’s going to create a real variety of opinions. What do we reckon?
Surely worth a post in its own right, Tom&Ben?
While we’d be like for like going 451, where are the goals going to come from? I think we should go 442 with SEB. We shouldn’t be forced to go 451, and though they’ll have the extra man in midfield, we should be good enough to beat any Swansea line up at home. And we need a goalscorer.
I fancy us. 2-1. SEB brace.
I’d go for the same team as you thomas but change o’hara for Guedioura. O’hara has really disappointed me the last few games. fluffed chances, and poor passing in my view. Guedioura surely needs a chance to prove his worth.
backs against the wall so a nervy 1-0 to wolves with Doyler finally putting away a chance. please god, lets get some more points.
2-0 Wolves win. Really hope he gives Adlene a start, he flipping deserves a chance, given how uninspiring our midfield has been over recent weeks.
Wolves 1:0 Swansea – unconvincing win (but I’ll take the points).
Muppet Mick on E&S saying the board are behind me – its like a broken record.
Draw 1-1, not good enough though.
I hope we win,but still think its time to say bye bye mick.
Should make for an interesting game. Two poor defences Vs two poor attacking line-ups. I have a horrible feeling we will struggle under the inevitable pressure… Wolves 1-2 Swansea.
As an aside, does anyone else feel the “pacy, free-flowing” Swansea tag is just a lazy media stereotype? They essentially play the same style Wolves did when we got promoted, two quick players out wide providing an outlet for defensively-minded central midfielders. Hardly ground-breaking…
2-2 draw
No reason, just such poor form, we need to go from 0 to 1 point before we can go to from 0 to 3, no matter the opponent
Wolves 1-3 Swansea
More of the same – Henry, O’Hara, hapless Wolves, McCarthy defiant, Moxey in denial
Bring on Championship football so I can see a decent run of form for the first time in three years
Are you genuinely calling for us to be relegated because ‘we’re shit and the Premier League’s a bit tough’? That is an impressive degree of negativity. Some times Wolves fans are a parody of themselves.
Is the ‘Wanderer’ being realistic here, ‘Super Kev’, rather than negative?
My head tells me his prediction may be correct.
The state of the club suggests we are in a terrible mess and unlikely to get out of it unless our manager falls on his sword!
That’s a matter of opinion, I’d say – my view on this is that we are not screwed yet and it is definitely not too late to turn things around because this team is strong enough to do that!
It was opinion of another that I was ‘deluded’ for saying this, but I’m sticking by it!
I believe it was me who labelled you deluded – a comment borne out of complete frustration following yet another poor defeat to our local rivals (how many defeats in the last 10 years is that now?) But I still don’t believe the team is strong enough to turn things around.
Remember, we were three minutes from relegation last season and have added just one outfield player since then. We were never going to be anything more than a poor side struggling to hang on to our Premier League status.
First time this season I’m actually going to be at the Mol for the match and bang up for it, so obviously I will be expecting the kind of slick performance, the likes of which have not been seen since Brazil in the 1970 World Cup.
Or maybe we’ll just scrape a 2-1 win. Got to keep the faith.
I am imagining that this is a Chamionship game – surely if we are serious about promotion, we should be able to win aganist Swansea at home? 3-1 to the Wolves.
Like we should have won against QPR?
3-1 Wolves
We get two in the first half, Swansea gets one back in the second, but we net a late goal to put it away
Three for Wolves, two for Swansea.
Tom
Wolves 1-2 Swansea i’m afraid.
We still haven’t won since I came back from Greece. I think this might be the reason of our poor form. Lets get a kitty together to send me back… then wolves will win 3-1!
Same. I was in France for the first two games of the season. I guess I’ll go back for the good of the team…
yeah, i was in, errr, Vegas! who’s paying for my flight back? I’ll need some spending money too please….
I’ve been here for 21 years………………….work that one out!!!!!!!!!!!!
We need to score early on or it could become a bit of a slog. Can see Swansea keeping the ball in large chunks of possession and frustrating our support. Patience will be the key but there aint a lot of that about at the moment and the fans dont need much (after last weekend) to turn making it a nasty afternoon. Whoever scores first will win imo and hoping that will be us.
OT – I’m not involved but there is a Silent Protest being organised on MolMix for the Sunderland game.
How on earth is there going to be a ten minute silence during a game, ridiculous. All for lower prices, but it just won’t happen.
That would require the whole stadium – ridiculous, I agree!
But, if enough protesters can agree to this then the atmosphere will be somewhat diminished…
Are we are going to score first? Let me see…
We’ve scored first once this season in the Premier League – not bad in 7 eh Mick
We’ll be 2-0 down before half-time.
Best protest will be to leave with 15 mins to go!
let’s use that logic in another way…
Will Swansea win this game? Let me see…
They’ve lost their last four away games – not bad eh Rodgers?
Makes me uncomfortable though – does that mean Swansea will draw or win? Nah – a 5-loss streak is unheard of, surely? 😛
[seriously though, that info should be comforting to me but it’s not!]
Fair play to all promoted clubs, they’re doing better than expected, don’t they? Let’s hope this doesn’t turn into another QPR styled fiasco… 2-1 Wolves.
I’ve mistakenly predicted wins in recent weeks, so I’m hoping forecasting a defeat will have the opposite effect. 2-0 Swansea to prolong the misery.
0-0. Swansea rubbish away and we’re rubbish at home at the moment.
C’MON THE WOLVES, FOR THE LOVE GOD
Lads, this is the one we are going to win. No luckk for finishing in the last 5 games. Swansea at home, yes they can play football., so can we.
3-0 to wolves, come on me babies.
Think I should sacrifice a swan for good luck on this game, guys? 😉
This isn’t going to be an easy one. Yes, they’ve conceeded 12, but they’ve met City, Arse, Chelsea. And they haven’t conceeded one goal at home. They’ve scored 7 and we 6. And with Fletch out, I don’t think Vorm will be too busy. Sure, we’ll control the game, cross the ball from one flag to the other, but I can’t really see who’s going to hammer it in. Guess the first team who scores will take it home. 1-0. CMON
i havent predicted for a while as ive been to gutted to even try but i think itll be a draw tomorrow 1-1, i think if we dont improve drastically the next 3 games we need a new manager. On a side note i see a few people still knocing Ward, for me hes been our best defender this season by some way and arguably our player of the season so far.
OMG – just seen this from McCarthy on the Wolves web-site, and I quote:
“We haven’t played the best football we’ve ever played, but we’ve played OK – we just keep getting beat.
“I’m not even trying to ‘big up’ our possession, but I’m not having anyone coming here and telling me we couldn’t keep the ball and they had better possession, because the stats tell the opposite story.
“I don’t have to say that – go and see Opta. Get the Opta Index and find out.”
Questions – Was Mick at the QPR game? Will we stay up because of our Opta stats? Is anyone really thinking anything is going to change?
Why has my ever present optimism of last season deserted me?
Another example of Mick’s bizarre ramblings. Should we take comfort from having more possession against Premier League sides if we’re plying our trade in the Championship next season?
1-1. We fall behind early and salvage a late one – thinking SEB like several others.
Haven’t done this for a while, lets hope it works. Wolves 1-0 (Ward 98)
Oh well what the heck. Wolves to win 4-2. Can’t keep a clean sheet, a couple from SEB at the other end. Here’s hoping (and dreaming), but it’s time to get back on track before getting thrashed 2 games in a row next week!
We’ve lost 5 on the run, I don’t remember when even we last achieved that ! The top clubs didn’t get where they are by allowing that to happen! The trouble is, we’ve allowed newly promoted clubs to nick quality players from under our noses, for example everybody needs a Joey Barton to get them out of the sh 1 t. Who cares if he’s got a temper, if he was suspended for half the season we’d still have a chance of finishing top half.
Decent stadium, good fan base, no serious debts, what’s the problem ? Why are we always down there with the Wigans & Blackburns ? Poor selection from a squad with a fair few internationals and not enough effort in the transfer market.
If we can’t beat Swansea we have to urgently implement a change of management. The tv pundits talk of MM as a character and a comic, we need someone who is taken seriously !
Oh dear. Can’t see Mick escaping this one. 50 minutes to turn it around – we need more of the first 15 mins!
It’s my half-term and I want to enjoy it so if you don’t see me around here for a week, that’s why…
My optimism’s completely shot, and I consider myself a very optimistic person!
Christ, we really are in trouble if your optimism is shot, Hamlet. Where has it all gone wrong?
Do I really need to answer that?
Forget my first comment – Doyle, O’Hara you beasts! 🙂
A draw’s better than a loss!
Given the circumstances, it certainly doesn’t feel much like it is. Hopefully though, this’ll be the start of a glorious turn-around.
It was a rhetorical question, so no you don’t. Awful performance today from a group of players lacking creativity and imagination. Can’t see Mick lasting much longer, despite Wolves picking up an undeserved point (Swansea switched off and should really have won comfortably).
While I’m no McCarthy fan, the treatment from the fans today was disgraceful. Hearing them sing ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’ to the manager was shameful.
You’re right about the way we played – like quite a few games we should have done better, and the defence was laughable – but given the circumstances I’m feeling much better than at half-time – 1 point’s better than no points!
As for the fans, maybe this game will change their attitudes – it’s certainly showed that you should never give up on the team!
I’ll admit that I had after the second game, so I apologise for that…
that was the swansea fans bird brain.
My mistake. I watched the game on the TV in Dubai and thought it was the Wolves fans chanting. Mick obviously came in for stick over the substitutions (which changed the game, funnily enough) but was there any other abuse directed at him throughout the match?
no the fans just sang you don’t know what you’re doing when he took his wingers off when he says he wants to play 442, the team is a complete mess. Time for a change badly. How can we stick with this guy, he is an absolute dinosaur.
Reports say some Wolves ‘fans’ were indeed chanting ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’ to Mick. Disgraceful if true.
So, we let QPR look like Barcelona; now, at HT, Swansea (great goals, BTW) look like Real Madrid.
Just WTF is going on?
Half time, 2 down again, utter utter shit
What defense, at least shit makes manure
@Kowloon Wolf, You’re right – we’re making Swansea look shit hot.
The thing is, again we started so positively. SEB looking trim and ready for it. Henry passing forwards and even getting a shot on target. O’hara passing the ball without walking in a circle first…
Then came the usual. Henry shoots off target from 15 yards when it would have been easier to pass. O’hara breaks our own attacking momentum with a pass back to the defence. Doyle slips over again and again. Johnson tries a spectacular bicycle kick and predictably fails in epic fashion.
Best part of the game for me was when Johnson and Berra ran into each other – it was the only time they weren’t leaving a gaping fucking hole right in the middle.
UTW
Trim? SEB, wow, then the BBC commentary teem must have been looking at another player – They implied he was overweight and unfit. It was all he was mentioned for more or less!
We have got no defense, we cannot score a goal.
Oh, Mick. What have you done. Your substitutions have not gone down well at all… I just hope Hammill and Jarvis know it wasn’t aimed at them.
And Adlene…poor fucker having to come into a game with that racket.
why is this guy the messiah, i just don’t get it. He was awful, running up blind alleys, id love to see his possession stats. As for that shot. Hammill was unlucky, he did 10 times more than jarvis did and shoul dnow be a shoe in, so should milijas who I think changed the game. Henry actually played better playing ahead of O’Hara, i don’t think we offer enough movement to offer him a confident pass forward. Johnson was pants, Stearman had his pulled down time and time again. We desparately need Foley and Fletcher back asap. Well played stephen ward AGAIN. Interesting comment on Sky blaming the fans for the 2nd goal, kind of agree but also don’t blame them. If the players didnt turn up until the 75th minute, the fans didnt turn up until the 85th! Shame. Oh and well done Mick for the subs, brave. Had his hands tied, couldnt take Henry off again, and didnt leave any other choices.
Good summary. Difficult to disagree with any of that. I would mention Hennessey also, though. He had a bloody busy afternoon, especially in the second half, and he came through it pretty well.
concur, whilst he’s only done what is to be expected he has arguably been our best (just for being consistent!) player of the season so far. When you’re saying that about your keeper its a bit of a worry. He reminds me of Paul Jones (91-96 and 04-06), i’ve always worried about keepers that look good but still concede goals. Anyway, he played well today, I wish we didn’t have to notice him.
These are the player ratings on sky and have to agree
Hennessey 7
Stearman 5
Johnson 5
Berra 5
Ward 6
Hammill 7
Henry 6
OHara 6
Jarvis 5
Doyle 5
SEB 6
Guedioura 5
Milijas 6
Vokes 5
Interesting criticism all over the web, from the live feeds to the match summaries. Poignant one on Guardian
“Swansea are a well-coached team of players picked for their ability on the ball. Wolves are a disorganised shower of players picked for brawn and getting stuck in. It’s past v future, and the future is 2-0 up.”
We must improve. Everyone is responsible, none more so than the fans, alot of those negative press comments about the wolves ‘faithful’, I dont remember much success in the last 30 years to warrant such arrogance (jeering, sarcastic cheering, LEAVING EARLY – can someone who does this explain please??? Grrrr!)
Geniuine question El Plim, do you ever go to the matches yourself?
???
I live 3000 miles away…. and theres no bus to wolverhampton.
Doesn’t mean you should doubt the credibility of my opinion. Just beacuse I offer a different view! Typical. Iv always gone to games, since 1988, been to 3 this season, but not today unfortunately.
I only asked mate. I only live one hundred odd miles away and you’ve been to 2 more than me. So good on ya. I admire all the Wolves fans who pay plenty to watch on a regular basis and, personally, i think they’re entitled to express their feelings about the quality of football they’re watching whether we’ve been poor for trhe last 30 years or not. I don’t call that arrogance.
apologies then, I shall retract.
egg on my face.
No need to apologise mate. We all just want the best for the team don’t we.
exactamundo!
UTW
I agree. I’m not saying Jarvis is the Messiah, i’m just saying that at that point in the game it did seem strange that he would take off two wingers in order to try and win the game. Fair play to Mick though. He managed to get enough out of the squad to take a draw, which, given the first half performance, was the best we could hope for.
The fans were nasty today, but it came from a place of passion and love for the club. I can’t say that I wasn’t raging in my seat today, and as much as we can reflect now on how bad the natural reaction was, it can’t be said it was completely unjustified. The last 20 mins of that first half would have had nuns cursing the heavens.
If the club wants to see a different reaction then they have to start showing that they are learning from the mistakes they are making time and time again. When did it become the fans responsibility to shoulder the blame for poor play. It doesn’t feel like a point well earned. A relief, yes. But it still feels like we’re moving backwards.
Sorry, I was referring to Guedioura
Wolves fans have always wanted a team support that had just as much heart and passion as they have. Under this regime weve had that. Sure they are faultering massively at the moment. But a team with heart and passion needs fans behind them, by definition theyre going to be a confidence team, theyre bringing it on themselves yes, but i dont think theyre choosing to play this badly. We got a break for sure today, so did Mick, his subs were risky to say the least, but they worked. Why were always having to recover is something Mick needs to take action against. He isn’t, it keeps happening, and he should eventually be taken to account for this. But the palyers need a more forgiving approach, they need the continued passion and supprot of the fans to spark their own. I dont agree it works the other way round. I think we have the players, and if things turn around, Mick will have ridden the storm. I dontg like this will of some fans for us to fail just to have his head on a spike.
Again, nobody was saying Guedioura is the Messiah either. But it must’ve been bloody scary coming on to that racket. And that was the only point I was making with that comment…
“but it came from a place of passion and love for the club.”
I’m sorry, I just can’t see that at all! The anger was understandable at half-time but it certainly didn’t help the team!
We all want the club to do well. We’re all pissed off with how it’s going. If you’re not pissed off when you’re down 2-0 at half time to a newly promoted team, then i’m not sure when you’re ever going to show passion. We can scream in joy when we beat a top team. We can scream at the ref when he bottles an important decision. But heaven forbid we criticize the guy in charge of the team. The fans were in the wrong, but it was a perfectly natural response to a diabolical 6 weeks.
And you said it didn’t help the team. Jesus, we got a couple of goals once the boot was stuck up their butts!
Or was the first goal just a coincidence and the second a result of confidence? I fully understand the frustration, I feel it myself, but the 90 minutes the team need our support, they should have it. There’s plenty of other time to call on mm’s head.
This is beyond pathetic… Wolves have sunk new lows, so much so, that there should be new adjectives in the language to explain the situation of this team….
Johnson = 50p head.
Good God, we were so lucky there. Well played the lads, if only for the last 10 minutes. Well played Swansea for the first 80. Work on the fitness though, boyos … you faded very badly.
Mick’s only gone and found the answer: drop the wingers (they add stuff-all value, as opposed to Sinclair / Dyer today, who tormented us), and play every bloody central midfielder we’ve got! Brilliant!
its when everton started to have some relative success in last 5 or 6 years….
Just leaving the game. Never felt so deflated after a come back. We got back into that game because Swansea stopped playing. Nothing to do with McCarthy’s awful tactics. I bet its not reported that way mind…
Papering over the cracks. It was another aweful performance both in defence and attack and the goals we got back were nothing to do with McDick’s substitutions as it was Swansea’s complacency. Mick trully has lost it and it shows. He took off hammill who was the best player on this pitch and jarvis (who had another terrible game tbf) then took SEB off to put vokes on. I for one was half hoping that we did lose so that MM would get the sack but i think he has bought himself a few more games. If Johnson is the answer christ knows what the question was but he’s no better than what we got atm. It’s sad that we were singing for Jody Craddock who’s 36 but it has to say something about the situation. Mick has to go.
craddock was playing when we were 3-0 down to blackburn at half time last season. He is never the answer to this, there needs a fresh start, new ideas and a manager who doesn’t have football principles from the 1980’s.
I was pretty happy in the immediate aftermath of the game… but now that’s worn off, we still need to play a lot better if we are to survive!
Roberto Mancini was at the game and he will be getting his tea ladies and the groundsmen ready for their matches next week, and how he stopped himself from laffin’ his head off, lord only knows.
How to describe today’s episode of Barmy Army?
Trash, shit, garbage, tripe and any other adjective for piss pottical poor you wanna use.
Swansea managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, and I actually felt sorry for them, coz they completely outplayed us, and should have had 4 or 5….more.
I don’t care what any happy clapper says on here, we did not deserve the sniff of a point, we were completely outplayed and out classed again, and our defense has to be the laughing stock of the entire football league.
As predicted by Mark G Davies on the blog earlier in the week, two pacy wingers, and we have no answers.
And to be calling for Craddock shows how utterly desperate we are.
Devoid of ideas, passion, commitment and totally clueless, like headless chickens and headlight struck deers.
Relegation is inevitable, only a matter of when.
And why the fuck was Blake playing? Totally unfit, and as useless as ever.
All three M’s have to go.
Am waiting for the Match report blog to comment.
But you sum it up well.
If we still have McCarthy as our manager against Wigan we are doomed.
The equaliser should not be allowed to paper over the very large cracks. Roger Johnson is fast becoming my least favourite Wolves player of all time. Big talk during the week, fuck all on the pitch. McCarthy says he’s delighted with a point and looking smug in his interview like he’s saved the day. Well we were 2-0 down for the sixth game running. Maybe Clive was right all along…
I think Mick was referring to a point when coming from 2-0 down, no one could have been happy with our overall performance…
Agree with Johnson though – he was supposed to strengthen our defence, not weaken it!
I second that about Johnson. And when i saw McCarthy he was full of sarcasm and seething with angry indignation at the fans. ‘Bluddy ‘ell we got away with that one’ would have been a more appropriate reaction.
Agreed – Johnson has played poorly, given goals away and had a go at the fans. Problem is that he is our captain (i.e. undroppable). Another great MM decision, before having seen him play in the Prem in a Wolves shirt!
Personally, I’d rather see Stearman at centre back right now with Berra – he was showing real signs of improvement in that position last season.
Also, I can’t remember a worse run of defensive performances since we returned to the Premier League – I’d love to see the stats around this.
How about a punt on Man City being 2-0 at half-time next week, courtesy of Messrs Johnson and Stearman (who isn’t a right back Mick McCarthy)
Only 2-0? Very optimistic! If you remember when we beat them last year, quite amazingly they didn’t bring Johnson on til right near the end and we just about hung on. I reckon they’ll use plenty of pace against us next week.
What the f..k was that, we were pathetic all over the park.never seen a wolves side play so bad for a very very long time it was embarassing to say the least,it seemed as though they could’nt be bothered that to me speaks volumes, to me that he’s lost the dressing room so the sooner he goes the better for all of us he’s got no plan b. so mr morgan the time is nigh befor its to late the only way we’er going is down. so please please get rid NOW.FOMM
Problem is there are two teams MM’S Team and the Fans Team-Mick won’t back down and neither will we-Its a battle of wills-We are there forever-its a no-brainer. Clubs in turmoil-We desperately need stability, better management and coaching and some new players,if we are to stay in this League-Are you listening Morgan?
McCarthy is now ‘delighted’ with a ‘brilliant’ point in a very lucky draw at HOME to Swansea. He is also ‘angry’, obviously with the fan’s criticism, although he can’t actually bring himself to say with whom.
It is now clear to me that he cannot accept criticism of any sort and he is not prepared to accept that there are serious weaknesse in his management that need to addressed. And, of course, if you don’t face a problem, you will never solve it.
Three years and counting.
Wow, a ‘brilliant’ point. Just think, if we keep picking them up at this rate then we’ll…be relegated
