I believe I’m correct in saying this is the first ever meeting between Wolves and Stevenage.

They’ve enjoyed a meteoric rise through the leagues and this is the highest they’ve ever climbed the ladder.
In their first season in League One two years ago, they snuck into the play-offs and were only narrowly edged out by Sheffield United.
Last season was tougher though, with Boro only managing an 18th place finish and narrowly avoiding the drop.
Stevenage
This season looks like being another tough slog for them and they currently occupy 17th spot, just two points above the dotted line.
But they come into this game on the back of two wins, a 3-0 victory at Crewe and an impressive 2-0 at home to Crawley.
Manager Graham Westley is now into his third stint at the helm, having left the club briefly to manage Preston before returning when things went tits up.
Kenny Jackett is expecting a more direct threat, so it will be interesting to see how Wolves handle that at home, with most teams visiting Molineux opting to play through midfield.
Wolves
With so much talk about Jamie O’Hara’s return at Bradford last week, it’s entirely conceivable he won’t even make the bench tomorrow. Jack Price is one again fit and with Wolves almost certain to start with two strikers, at least one midfielder will bite the bullet.

All being well, I think that will be the team we see. Sigurdarson hasn’t been handed a start for quite some time, so if Griffiths doesn’t recover from his cold, he’ll hopefully be keen to impress.
On O’Hara, if he is fully fit I do think he’d improve our team. His ability in possession is superior to that of his midfield colleagues. Mobility is the issue, something that was woefully exposed last season.
Perhaps playing in this more physically capable, possession based team would allow him to remind us about the positive attributes he can bring to the fold. Many will disagree I’m sure.
The odds
Wolves are huge favourites to win this one at 1/2. Stevenage are 13/2 and the draw is 7/2.
You have to go a long way down the first goalscorer list to find a Stevenage player. When you do it’s Francois Zoko, whose 10/1 to get the opening goal. Leigh Griffiths is 3/1.
All odds are available from SoccerBase here.
Predictions
49 pundits correctly thought we’d score an impressive win at Bradford last week.
And an amazing 22 of them also got the 2-1 scoreline. Well done to all of them for doubling up.
I suspect everyone will predict a win in this one and I think it’s important we do pick up at least 4 points from this and our game in hand on Tuesday at Carlisle.
Peterborough host Leyton Orient tomorrow so whatever our result, we at least have the consolation of knowing at least one of our rivals will drop points.
I’ll go for an ambitious 4-1 tomorrow.
Up The Wolves

3-1 to Wolves and Posh and Orient draw would be nice!!
That’s my prediction at least.
I’m going for a conservative 2.1 to Wolves. Im a bit weary of predicting landslide victorys because in the past they’ve been the total oppersite so caution is the watch word. I also think they will up there game simply because of the experience of playing Wolves at Molinuex for the first. The history of Molinuex, they’ll be thinking only 2 years ago Rooney and Co: were playing on the same pitch along with Liverpool, Chelsea and my most loathed team of all Arsenal you might think why, well 2 F.A Cup semi final defeats for starters hate there arrogance and pompous ness, I know I need to let go I just carnt forgive or forget those 2 semi finals I was there for both at Villa park 1980 or 81 and then the one in the 90’s bars…ds. Got to go have to see my therapist
1979 not 1980/81 it’s still raw B…..DS !
I predicted a loss last week and was proved well and truly wrong. There is a banana skin waiting for us somewhere but I don’t think this is it. A confident 3-0 for me.
3-0 to the Wolves. Onwards and upwards.
I was in the States for the first time when a certain Mr. Bull scored 4 at Newcastle.
Back then, places like Stevenage hadn’t even been invented!
The thought that the famous Wolverhampton Wanderers would entertain the likes of them, and others, such as Crawley, would never have entered even the darkest recesses of my tiny mind, unless they had gone on long, extended cup runs.
These fixtures bring us back to earth with a bump, reminding us that although on a glorious run, we are still a third division team.
It is also these fixtures that should spur us on and give us the collective kick up the arse to get out of this division straight away.
I am predicting my normal 5 – 1 thrashing of the opposition, and as our clocks go back this weekend, looking forward to an extra hour savoring the sweet smell of another emphatic victory, with my moronic grin intact.
As ever, FOwb
We’ve gotta win this one surely? 2-0 the lads.
Not happy about the o’hara rehabilitation. Boy better put in some man of the match performances and score some screamers if he’s going to wear our shirt.
I have a suspicion KJ may rest McDonald for this one, in order to have someone sensible and reliable to play alongside O’Hara at Carlisle.
I’d like to see Lee Evans back in, if only to boost his confidence after the early subbing last week. In fact, playing at home against a direct team, I wouldn’t be completely surprised if we line up with a ‘4-3-3-honest-I-swear’ 4-5-1. Sako-Siggy-Henry with Doyler the impact sub again (assuming Griffiths is still sneezy).
That said, Evans-Davis-Price doesn’t look that incisive a midfield to me, but I’d be hard pushed to throw any of them out in favour of Edwards.
Great pic of Henry in the line-up, btw!
I’ll go for a solid if uninspiring 2-0.
Interesting thoughts Thomas. It’s a fair (32) bet that O’Hara wont make the bench .. personally I dont think physical games are his cup of tea. will probably see Price come back into midfield and I have to say I’ve been impressed with him the last couple of games. It’s a concern that Griffiths might not play but I also think he may have struggled with a burly back four of Stevenage, so Siggy or McAlinden might be his replacement.. then again Doyle up front and another midfielder (O’Hara ?) ..crikey the options are endless.
Enough of the theory Wolves 3 – 1 Stevenage.
Looking for a big win tomorrow to lay down a marker for the rest of the year. O’Hara should never be allowed to pull on the shirt again.
Wolves 4 Stevenage 0
We should be defeating teams like Stevenage handsomely…..
Wolves 5 Stevenage 0…
O’Hara hat trick!
Wolves 4 Stevenage 0. I think o’hara will be involved somehow tomorrow and we’ll run out clear winners. Welcome back jamie
Glad to say my strategy of trying to ‘spot the slip up’ is failing miserably. Back on the glory train, Wolves 3 Stevenage 1.
I’d prefer Price to Davis, otherwise the team more or less picks itself. 2 – 0 Wolves
For once, I guessed right against Bradford, 1-2 . I’ll go 2-0 against Stevenage. I figure we’re getting stronger and more confident, but not enough yet to be handing out hidings. It’s almost like, if we’re a couple of goals ahead, we’ll bite your hand off to stay that way, rather than pressing on and enhancing our goals difference. I could be wrong…
We do have plenty of options, just as well as there seem to be a few injury/illness problems.
I too am not convinced that O’Hara has the necessary mobility, but he seems to have done Ok in U21 games. I trust KJ’s selections and substitutions, so no worries there for me.
I’m taking my family, only the second time for the grandson -first was us beating West Ham 4-2, and first time for 6 year granddaughter, so I’m looking for another victory by 2 goals or more.
Wolves 4 Stevenage 0
So pleased to be proved wrong last week although I did have the correct scoreline for a little while. Saturday is going to be a goal-fest and an extremely rare Doyle hat-trick will see a 6-0 Wolves win.
Im hoping to see us go top following this game…and stay there! Wolves 3 – 0 Stevenage
UTW
Isn’t it wonderful that we haven’t heard a peep out of the fat chap for ages!
The only thing I get to see when I go on the Wolves Youtube site is Kaiser Kenny talking good sense.
Steve Morgan, however, has finally made the National Newspapers by inviting Sir Norman Bettison, the Rozzer who was accused of fudging eveidence in the Hillsborough disaster, to some Wolves matches.
That’s caused a bit of a stink on Merseyside.
Sheila Coleman, of the Hillsborough Justice Campaign, is quoted as saying: “Steve Morgan is entitled to invite whoever he likes to attend football matches with him, but it is said you can judge a man by the company he keeps.
“Liverpool fans will be able to make their own judgments on his decision to invite Norman Bettison.”
Doesn’t say much for either Jez Moxey… or Morgan’s chances of buying Liverpool in future.
3-0 to the lads.
Not bad that.
Only one spolling mistook!
Dont suppose there are any extra points for predicting 0-0 at half time. I will go 2-1 to Kenny’s heroes. Looking for a hatrick of double ups.
Price to start ahead of Davis, for me.
Wolves 2-0 Stevenage
Wolves 3 Stevenage 1
for my first double up of the season
Where is this? is it a local derby?
Anyways … Wolves 3-0 Stevenage
1-0 wolves nervy but solid
Goals a plenty for me
wolves 4 – 0 Stevenage
Wolves 3-0 Stevenage
Wolves to win 3 – 0. – If Price is fit he should play.
As for O’Hara, I suppose we have to trust KJ’s judgement but I just hope O’Hara’s return doesn’t cause any trouble among the rest of the squad.
My guess is that O’Hara will be on the bench again and perhaps come on for the last 15 mins with a view to a start on Tuesday.
It’s time we banged a few goals into the oppositions net – so with supreme confidence I am predicting Wolves 3 – 0 Stevenage.
Will we so O’Hara ? I don’t give a f*ck
Peace & Love to all
🙂
*see
Don’t know where so came from
I`ll be partying with my beautiful grand daughter, Caitlen, one year old tomorrow. Need to go to make sure my daughter in law doesn’t dress her in anything with Notts Florist colours. So I`ll give this game a miss as somethings are more important than football.
I`d be very surprised if wolves don`t win this one at a canter, and a comfortable 2-0 win, and defeats for billy davies` team, and the baggies losing too, and England beating the Aussies at rugby, would make this almost the perfect sporting Saturday. Oh and 0-0 at Peterborough too!
Wolves 4 – 0 Stevenage
I’m going for a handsome 3-0 win to us.
Cant make my mind up about JOH – I can see both sides of the argument. We will never know what has happened, and we can guess until Xmas and never know.
Should he be included? Depends what the motive is. if it is purely for football reasons, then I could see why he would be a good inclusion, but at the same time, feel sorry for the others who would be omitted. If it is to engineer a move in January, then again, why risk the balance of the team for a short term gain.
I am not sure, as was said earlier, if he is up to a physical battering. Just our luck to include him, then for him to be injured, and he remains on the books for another few months until he’s not crocked again.
Perhaps it shows while I am an armchair / footy terrace manager, and couldn’t do the job in real life!!
Maybe a slow start with Stevenage hoping to silence the home supporters. But my guess is that we will break them down and Sako will be the first to find the back of the net with a rip-roaring free-kick from 25 yards out. Then watch the floodgates open. Final score: Wolves 3 Stevenage 0
Stevenage have had a good couple of games with goals going in and clean sheets as well. I think our defence will be too much for them so going for a win.
Wolves 3 – Stevenage 1
UTW
I can assure you the plans are for O’Hara to play much of the game. Listening to Jackett, I think he is planning to make O’Hara a regular starter after he gets in game shape.
Of course, things change and so there is no guarantee.
Wolves to win 2-0
Come on me babies
Like most, if not all of the contributions above this, I think a home win should be on the cards.
And again, like others have commented, we should perhaps be punishing some sides more.
“At the end of the day” (as an old Landlord of my once local pub used to begin most of his sentences), goal difference could still prove pivotal in the race for the automatic promotion places.
I would love to see a no score, or low score draw at Peterborough, to further capitalize on a convincing win.
So what I would wish for, and therefore will predict :
Kenny Jackett’s Barmy Army 4, Stevenadge 0
Sorri, mi spelin went agayne four a mynit, eye ment Stevenage.
its them ‘merican kaybords, they cor spel nuttin rite!
Toetalie agree. The kids ay tort two wryte propa eiva.
The inevitable banana skin will happen eventually, but not tomorrow, I predict a comfortable win.
Wolves 3 Stevenage 0.
I’ll go for a 5-1 win to wolves Griffiths to get hat trick
I see nothing but a convincing win here (famous last words)!
Wolves 4 – 0 Steven’s Hedge
UTW!
Wolves 3 Stevenage 1
4-1 to the Wolves !!!
I think we will win comfortably so 3-0 wolves victory
Got to be a convincing win. 4-0 to the mighty Wolves.
I’d leave O’Hara on the bench. He should only get intoduced if needed. Not sure how I feel about him being back in the squad, but suppose everyone deserves a second chance.
Around 2 years ago we were in the Prem and I watched Stourbridge play Stevenage in the FA cup , never did I imagine tomorrow would ever take place. As others have said these games we should win and win well at least 3-0
History in making tomorrow – our first ever game against Stevenage.
Not sure we will see either Griffiths or O’hara in starting 11, but expect both to start on Tuesday night.
Expecting a comfortable win. Wolves 3 Stevenage 0
Everyone seems to be expecting a solid Wolves win – so am I really, but I think somebody should go the other way – so I’ll say Wolves 0 Stevenage 1. As an excuse I can reveal that I lived in Stevenage some years ago – although I didn’t know then that they had a football team!!
Wolves 3-0 Stevenage
Never know what team Kenny will pick as he likes to rotate a bit when midweek games involved but should easily have enough to win this comfortably
As for JO’H undecided but if he comes on will get my full backing as everyone in a gold shirt does.
An effortless victory:
Wolves 2-0 Stevenage
Wolves 3 – 0 Stevenage for me please
I think Wolves 3-0 Stevenage. I think someone is due a rout from us
4-1 Wolves! And – this place does demand long comments doesn’t it? 😛
3-1 Wolves win, and hopefully a Jamie Ohara appearance in the mid field.
2-1 ..they score first ..O Hara plays and scores..
Wolves 3 Stevenage Buried 0
Still very disappointed ohara is getting a second chance. He has done everything to get a move and nobody wants him. So he has 2 choices . Carry on playing for u21 or pretend he is sorry and plays well for a few games as we know he can when he is playing for a contract. This puts himself in the shop window for a jan move. Do all you deluded fans think that if another club comes in for him in jan, he will show an ounce of loyalty to wolves. He will be off like a shot. People like him dont change. When he leaves in jan, after playing himself into our first team, please no moaning from the “everyone deserves a second chance” brigade.
The thing is that if that gets him off the wage bill (possibly plus some transfer fee)it will be a good thing for the club. Anything is better than paying him for the rest of his contract for nowt.
I have total faith in King Kenny. If O’Hara has a negative effect on the squad, he’ll be straight back in the stiffs. He’s inferred that already.
We ain’t deluded fans.
I don’t give a toss what motivation O’Hara will have for playing well, as long as if and when he gets on the pitch he does it!
I’m with Martin here, better to have him earning his outrageously high wages than sat on his fat bottom deciding where to have his next tattoo inserted.
And as far as loyalty is concerned, as much as I would like to think differently, if a bigger club came after any of our players waving a fat wallet and promises of the Premiership or even Europe, over 90% of them would be off like a shot.
And, given the way football has become more about earning as much dosh as you can in the shortest possible time than staying loyal to one club, who could really blame them?
Oh for more of the Steve Bull ilk.
That was loyalty at its highest.
He had plenty of offers to move to Premiership clubs, and would probably had more England recognition if he had.
He said he wanted to play in the top flight, but he wanted to do it with Wolves.
It’s a crying shame he never got that chance.
Long live the King.
Amen to that!
There are a few in the so-called ‘modern’ era. Gerrard and Carragher spring to mind – and, I suppose, John Terry.
But they are a dying breed.
When I spent the day with Sir Steve a couple of years ago, he told me his answer to the question of was he disappointed he didn’t play at the highest level, was that he did.
He played for, and scored, for England, and for any true blooded Englishman, it don’t get no higher than that!!
I totally agree.
I was really meaning on a domestic level.
For any player to represent, and do well for their country should be the highest level any footballer could hope to attain, regardless of what league their team is playing in.
In some respects, it is almost a bigger acknowledgement of his ability to score goals that he was selected when we were still in the 3rd division.
I only met Sir Steve once, in my old local the Hartley Arms.
I raced home to grab his autobiography, and he signed it for me.
Great bloke.
To see him on the terraces at Shrewsbury the other week was fantastic.
5-2 to wolves. Theyll score the early goal. We will claw back and let the floodgates open. They get a late goal but alas it is of no use.
Wolves 1-0 Stevenage
Late sako goal!
Wolves 0 stevanage 0 for me
4-1 to Wolves! I’m hoping Siggy gets a goal.
A 3-0 win for the Wolves thank you! i hope to see JOH getting some time on the field to prove himself.
I am predicting that it stays scoreless for quite a while.
Then O’Hara is introduced and is instrumental in a goal (not sure whether that is a telling pass, or failure to track back)
Wolves 1 – Stevenage
I think it would be madness to play O’Hara at home in front of a potentially hostile crowd for his first game back. Especially when there’s a safe away game in 3 days where he can try to impress under less pressure, and then play his first home game with at least one decent performance under his belt.
If he plays today he’d better have a blinkin’ faultless game or I bet the boos won’t be long in coming.
Wolves 3-0 Stevenage
The JOH situation is perplexing to say the least.
We will never know the truth behind what happened the last few years (hush-hush just like 10 years ago under Dave Jones) because it would embarrass the pants off all concerned.
Chairman, managers, players are all transient -supporters are permanent (well mostly)
Wolves to win 3-0
Surely we’ve got too much in our locker for Stevenage?
I’ll say 2-0 to Wolves.
Well done Ade.
I know a Phil in China from the Nock (Cannock).
Big Wolves fan.
Wolves 3 Stevenage 0. As much as we’ve been playing well, I don’t feel that too many of our wins are convincing, and all too often we sneak them at the death – I’m not complaining, I’d just like a nice battering of a team so I can have a nerveless weekend!
Starting to feel uncomfortable with all these back to back wins. It does not feel right! I keep expecting it all to go horribly wrong. I guess that’s what 30 odd years of following the Wolves does to a guy. Wolves 2 Stevanage 0.
Another clean sheet at home. Wolves 3 Stevenage 0. No worries.
We`ll be too good 3-0 to us.
COME ON YOU WOLVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
According to Graham Westley
“Sides have gone to Molineux and lost 11-1 in the first 75 minutes of games and we know that in the last 15 minutes of games, sides have won 4-3. That’s fact.
So I predict
Wolves 2 Stevenage 0
I’ve a feeling it could be a tough afternoon. It’s one of those we’re expected to win. That being said, I’ll say 3-0 Wolves.
Briefly….3-1, Wolves win.
Missed last weeks predictions stupidly. Just remembered this week too lol. Can’t really see us losing this game.
Wolves 4 Stevenage 0
UTW/FOWB
4-0 wolves, fuck it. Sako to score first. That definitely needs a trip to the bookies.
Wolves 2 steve 0.
Wolves 3 Stevenage 0
For some reason I am seeing a nervous 2-1 win for me babies.
I really could care less about O’Hara, we know he is a flawed character, am OK with the second chance as long as it is entirley for the good of the Wolves. I trust KJ totally on this one.
Wolves 3 – Stevenage 0.
Damp and blustery day , so I’m a little concerned if Stevenage play the long game . Therefore I’m tempering my prediction …
Wolves 2 Borough 1 .
See nothing more than a comfortable 3 points here..not likely to concede many at home. Gonna stick my neck out and go with 5-0 to the Wolves please Thomas. (Griffiths, Griffiths, Sako, Batth, Doherty)
On the O’Hara issue. A fit, hungry O’Hara could be exactly what we need in our midfield. But if he’s not hungry, which he certainly wasn’t last season, then its a fat waste of time. Maybe KJ has inspired something in him to play for the shirt again…we shall see!
UTW
2-0…hang on, I already know the score…I missed it again!!!
Really impressed with what Kenny Jackett is doing at Wolves this year, I really thought they may struggle to adapt to the drop in to the 3rd tier but he seems to of got the players adjusted and playing for him. Big turn around from 1st time I saw them this year against Morecambe. Think Wolves will kick on and prove the team to beat in this league come what may. Good Luck
Lauren
