Wolves head into Sunday’s televised clash with Spurs looking for their 8th home win of the season.
And having already seen off Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd at Molineux, as well as routing Blackpool last weekend, confidence should be high against a Tottenham side with a hit and miss record on their travels.

With 6 wins, 3 draws and 5 defeats away from White Hart Lane, Harry Redknapp will know his side need to show greater consistency if they’re to challenge for a top four place and defeat against a side languishing in the bottom three would have to be seen as a major setback.
But with the distraction of a Champions League tie against AC Milan to contend with in midweek, perhaps this is a decent time to play the North Londoners. I wonder if Harry might even contemplate resting one or two of their brighter stars?
For Wolves, one player who will definitely be rested is Jamie O’Hara whose ineligible against his parent club. That’s a blow given impressive recent performances, but should see Nenad Milijas restored to the starting eleven. Not a bad replacement in my opinion.
Here’s the eleven I reckon we’ll see:
Hennessy
Zubar
Berra
Stearman
Elokobi
Foley
Henry
Milijas
Edwards
Jarvis
Doyle
I suspect Kevin Foley will keep Hammill out of the side, with Mick preferring extra defensive cover against a strong Spurs attack, but I’ll be pleasantly surprised if the tricky winger returns after injury.
I would also persevere with the 4-5-1, but bring Adam Hammill back into the side. I think we need to come out of the blocks quickly again and get at Spurs. They’re a great side coming forward but they’re suspect at the back, particularly with the injuries they have. To sit back and let them play would be a mistake so I hope we’re able to start on the front foot.
Prediction League
A whopping 15 people correctly predicted we’d beat Blackpool last weekend, but alas, nobody said 4-0, so everyone gets a point and nobody takes the glory.
I like to give a few individuals a mention every week though, so this time I’ll do something different and name those who didn’t predict the correct outcome. Unlucky Kowloon Wolf, Jed, Rob in Dubai, johnok, Rob and Putney Wolf, although I’m sure you were more than happy to receive nil-pwa and see Wolves pick up 3.
This weekend, I think I’ll go for a draw.
Spurs will have one eye on their Champions League tie, but even so, have good strength in depth and will no doubt cause us problems going forward. Wolves should push them hard though and I can us scoring a couple too.
2-2.
If you’re going to Molineux on Sunday, have a great time. It should be a pleasant occasion as both teams pay their respects to the late Dean Richards. Here’s to a good game, hopefully capped with another 3 points for the boys in old gold.
Up The Wolves!

I’ll go Wolves 0:2 Spurs – without O’Hara MM will undoubtedly find a way of bringing Ward back into the starting 11!!!!
Hope I’m wrong!
Don’t say that!! I got a cold shiver thinking of that selection. Right, I’m going for a 1-0 win, with Stearman scrambling home a late winner from a free kick.
Given the Zubar/Jones/Edwards injury situation, I’m afraid I’m going to echo Stourbridge here. I predict 2-0 to Spurs, although I hope we are totally wrong!
This game could really go either way, and i do think we’ve a good chance of winning it, but being as we don’t do draws, i’m going Wolves 1-2 Spurs.
There’s some positive negativity
Wolves 1 Spurs 1 (Doyler hitting the onion bag)
Read somewhere that Mick reckons we’re back to needing a point a game to stay up now, which I think is a bit optimistic. Need to get 40 to be sure of survival in my opinion. Nevertheless, I’m predicting a 1-1 draw on Sunday and I’d be happy with that
I am still feeling generally positive about our recent form and I reckon we could well get our first back to back wins of the season this weekend.
I’m going to go for Wolves 3-2 Spurs and this could be our West Ham game from last season that catapulted us onto a run that had playing good football and getting safe before the end of the season. Here’s hopin’!
UTW!
I predicted the other week that we’d lose this, but after last week my confidence has been boosted so I’m going to say a 1-1 draw. Maybe Dave Edwards to leg it the length of the pitch to tap in a Doyle cross on the break.
I think we’ve turned the corner now and am optimistic of some decent results rather than just performances in the upcoming games.
I think Spurs will have their mind on Inter this Sunday. 2-1 to Wolves with Doyle and Ebanks-Blake netting.
Yes Thomas, I was indeed one of the few who predicted we’d lose to Blackpool. Needless to say, I was absolutely delighted that the team proved me wrong. Let’s hope we can get at least a point against Spurs on Sunday. Manage that and I’ll be rather more optimistic about our survival chances. RIP Deano!
It really could go either way but I don’t think we’re consistent enough for back to back wins. Wolves 1 Spurs 3.
What is the deal with people not respecting Ward? How many teams have a player who is able to play in most positions?
Some Wolves fans really are deluded.
But moving on, I expect a another win, before we head in a run of 4 straight defeats, you can check this prediction out on 606.
Weekend Prediction
Bummingham 1 – 1 Tesco
Wolves 2 – 0 British Gas
Your right, not many teams have a player who can play anywhere. Wolves are one of them! Not doubting his effort, just his passing, positioning and overall intelligence….
I too feel positive about our chances but then went and completed the league predictions on the BBC Sport website, only to find we got relegated the only saving grace was Albion went down as bottom club.
Think he have to get at least a point from this one, but I fear we will fail Wolves 1-2 Spurs. Milijas to score from a poorly cleared corner. Crouch and the Russian to net for the Spurs.
Hope my predicitions are poor, though I did take us to beat United and won £60 of the bookie last time 🙁
I’ll be more than happy to be proved wrong again this week as long as its with a win for Wolves, but I see this as a 1-1 draw.
I think we can get a win from this game.
Wolves 2 – 1 Spurs
Just keep it tight for a well earned point….
Wolves 1 Yids 1
Anyone catch this on a Spurs blog….. what a crock of poorly written cack.
http://www.boysfromthelane.com/2011/03/who-cares-about-wolves.html
So many incorrect assumptions its scarey shit. I tried to comment but it day wairk…
I read that too, even thought about commenting on it but didn’t want to waste any more of my life.
Wow that’s an awful blog! It’s nice to hear we got Fletcher, Hunt, Mouyoloko, Hammil for free though.
Possibly the biggest load of bollocks I have read in a long time. Makes you realise how lucky we are to have this blog!!!
Wolves 2-1 Spurs.
Hopefully their mind will be on the Champs League. With a couple of key players likely to be missing, in Bale and Van Der Vaart is an added bonus. Those that do play may well hold back a little, desperate not to get injured and risk missing the Milan game! Hope so anyway!
Hmm, looks like Zubar out Sunday and Edwards/Jones both a doubt:

Assuming all three don’t play, what does Mick do?
Foley to right-back is the obvious. That would free Hammill to come back into the side.
But what about the middle of the park? We’ve only got Henry and Milijas available.
Maybe we revert to 442 and give SEB a deserved start? That might not be a bad shout.
Or maybe Ward will be given another run in the free role? I joke, but it’s got to be a possibility if Mick wants to retain the 451.
Here’s my revised predicted lineup:
Hennessy
Foley
Berra
Stearman
Elokobi
Hammill
Henry
Milijas
Jarvis
Doyle
SEB
I was trying to figure out this very conundrum earlier, racking my brain as to who will play in the 3 man midfield without edwards or jones available and with Foley playing RB when it his me like a cricket bat across the face – Ward. he will no doubt line up in the middle of a 451. I’d rather see the above 442 but won’t hold my breath.
Hey VistaWolf – I thought i`d reply before Clive from Houston does. If you are a member of Mr S Wards fan club, you could hold the fan club meetings in a phone box. The general consensus is on this blog and all others that he is not fit for purpose wherever he gets picked and plays.
I agree if players can operate in more than one position thats a bonus, and the modern day footballer probably has to be able to. I despair when Ward gets on at any time, he contributes almost nothing, there are far more talented players at the club but he gets picked in front of. these. Even if Ward is in the squad on Sunday we will still win 2-1, I hope.
Wolves to win by the odd goal, either 1-0 or 2-1. Would love SEB and Ned to score…
Mr Vista Wolf.
Respect does not come into the equation.
You should only show respect for someone you know well, and as I am sure most of us have never met Mr. Ward, we can neither respect him or disrespect him.
We can however offer opinions on his footballing abilities, or lack of.
You pose the question “how many teams have a player able to play in lots of different positions?”
Ward is not one of those. He is actually unable to play at the required standard and level in even one position, let alone several.
This of course includes substitute, where he makes the mistake of actually coming off the bench, and then tries to contribute to the team’s success, where, as usual he is an abject failure.
Other than that, I would think he’s a really nice chap, but should be nowhere near a Wolves shirt, ever.
FOMM
Just read your post after replying direct. I’m ashamed to admit that on this one occasion I agree with what you are saying….. God that hurt!!!
Played well when he came on last week; great pass to SEB.
Decent (if not the best) left winger and a good squad player.
That was actually a pretty poor pass, overhit and only turned into something by SEB’s expert control and wonderful finish. But i expect he’ll start today and SEB will have to watch him from the bench. 2-1 to Tottenham i fear.
Score draw and if i’m honest I would take that now, even when they are missing Bale and VDV. I’ll plump for 1-1.
On a separate note I can’t decide whether I want the Blues Albion game to finish a draw or an Albion defeat. With 2 games in hand are we going to catch Blues??? Would it be more beneficial for the shit to not get a point….
I’m going for a 2-1…Doyle + jarvis. Hope Thomas is wrong about the injuries
thou, The big problem now is that old big nose will be playing that for me
spells trouble.
Lets hope SEB gets a game ,he deserves it after last weeks brace.
On a sad note,It was nice to see wolves explayers at the funeral of DEANO.
Nice to see a good representation from wolves..All our thoughts with his
family.
Feels a little bit like it did before we played Liverpool at home – tough opponent but real optimism that we can get a result.
We know how badly wrong it went against Liverpool – but I’m optimistic we can get a result tomorrow.
Wolves 2-1 Spurs. Doyle and Milijas.
If we get a draw – that’s a good result. If we lose, it’ll be disappointing but no shame and our fixtures get so much better from here on in.
But you know what, I like the sound of back to back wins going into the game against Villa – c’mon lads we believe!
As I will be there, for the first time in year…I’ll go for Wolves 0 Spurs 3
Enjoy the game! Last season’s disaster at home to Arsenal (1-4) was my first visit to the Mol in 6 years. Plus I half froze to death (not helped by my bringing too light a jacket to the UK). And then after the game I had a curry while watching the boxing (Haye vs. that giant bloke) and by crikey the curry had its revenge for days afterwards …
Well, here’s hoping you have a better time than me on all fronts!
That should have said YEARS !!
