A two week break from Premier League football might seem like a hard slog, but if you’re a Spurs fan right now it couldn’t have come at a worse time.
Having had their first scheduled fixture postponed, they then suffered back-to-back pummelings from Manchester’s United and City, meaning they headed into international fortnight with zero points on the board.
That’s a bitter pill to swallow for a team that lit up last season’s Champion’s League.

But I think we can all accept that their stay inside the bottom three isn’t likely to last very long, given that they boast a squad packed with quality in most areas of the pitch.
And if they were a strong outfit before the transfer deadline, the signings of Parker and Adebayor have only served to reinforce their position as one of the Premiership’s heavyweights.
Wolves, as we know, have made a flying start to the season but this match represents the sternest test of how far the side have come. Questions will be asked, and I’m intrigued to see if Mick and the boys have the answers.
Can we defend as resolutely against one of the best attacking sides in the league?
Can we retain anywhere near as much possession as we did in the last home match against Fulham?
Can we create as much going forward?
Can we retain the same shape against a top side and still be successful?
The Team
If there is going to be a change to the team that drew with Villa last time out, it’s likely to be for Matt Jarvis who is reportedly struggling with an ankle injury. I haven’t heard Mick saying he’s out, so I have to assume he will play. So that would mean the following XI:

It goes without saying that I’m keen to see Jarvis start, but should the winger fail to make it, I’ll be intrigued to see what Mick does. Will he go like-for-like and bring in Hammill or Kightly? Will he push Ward up to left midfield and bring Elokobi in at the back? Perhaps he’ll play Hunt on the left and bring Foley in on the right?
Decisions, decisions.
Prediction League
Well done to the 21 people who correctly predicted we’d draw with Villa last time out. Only one pundit went for nil nil though, so a big pat on the back goes to Kowloon Wolf, who gets his season up and running with the maximum 3 points on offer. Bravo my friend.
A mention too for Andrew N, whose 1 point took him clear at the top of the Prediction League after the third round.
As regular readers will know, I have a strong suspicion that we’ll come a cropper in this one.
Spurs scare the life out of me as an attacking force and I feel certain they’ll score a few. The question is, can we cause them similar problems?
I’m going for 3-1 Spurs.
If you’re at Molineux for this one enjoy the match and get behind the lads. We’re back up to four stands so the atmosphere inside the ground should be even better than against Fulham.
Up The Wolves.

2-1 Wolves. Fletcher double
Lets keep the unbeaten start to the season going!
Wolves 2-2 Spurs. I’d take a point now if it was on offer. Unlike last season, I hope we continue to beat the teams who are going to be in the relegation mix and scrap the odd point or 3 against the big boys.
Im going for a 2-2 thriller but with us being ultimately dissapointed as spurs grab the late equaliser.
To be honest any points from this game would be an excellent result!
1-1 in a close and scruffy Stokesque encounter
1-0 wolves fletcher to score a nice simple finish
Wolves 2 Spurs 2. Hunt and Fletch.
My first game of the season, can’t wait!
Hoping for 3 points but don’t wanna jinx it.
COME ON ME BABBIES!!
After having the severe misfortune to play both money spending manchester clubs on back to back matches, spurs must feel that playing wolves is like going on holiday, a stroll in the park, easy peasy lemon squeezy. Lets hope they are over confident and undercooked for the first half and we nick a couple of goals.
Second half be grateful for my black wolves boxers and we scrape a 2-1 win somehow, despite Bale switching wings and running at Ward and creating absolute mayhem, they can`t get a second goal past our magnificent defence. I`m not betting any money though……
Wolves 3 spurs 1 I dreamt it
2-2, Fletcher, Doyle, AdeX2
1-1, and lucky to get a point. Despite the Manchester experiences Spurs will expect to beat us but we’ll hold ’em. Fletcher our scorer.
3-1 Wolves. Fletch 2 and O’Hara
Wish I could be a bit more optimistic, and I should be really after the starts each side have made but….. I can’t see us getting another win, well not from this game. I can however see us scrapping for a point, its not going to be pretty. 2-2 for me, Fletcher, Johnson.
Wolves 0 Spurs 1
I’m going with probability and it’s time we lost the toss. Naturally, I hope I’m wrong.
WOLVES 1 SPURS 0
A late O’Hara Goal..That will do for me.
2-1 Spurs, hope the outcome is reversed!
I can see us losing our unbeaten record, which will be gutting. They have a point to prove.
Wolves 1 : spurs 3
I would be happier to be wrong and lose my position as top predictor so far though!! If only my fantasy team was doing as well!
I remember going to White Hart lane when I worked in North London in the early seventies, to watch Spurms play United, Charlton, Best Law etc, and I was in their “choir’ end, cheering for United, like you do.
I think it was Gilzean who scored, Spurms won, and I nearly got the snot royally kicked out of me, so I have no love for Spurms at all.
Fuck ’em.
Plus ‘Arry twitches too much to be normal.
3 – 0 to Me Babbies.
Sadly, I think we are in some trouble here.
Wolves 0 – Spurs 2
Can I suggest that the prediction league table is run like the League table. When people are on even points, they should be in alphabetical order. That moves me well up the ladder of those on 1 point (sorry WAKESTAR – you go bottom)
I agree with Ash (on the 0-2 prediction, not the alphabetical thing – I’ve already endured enough mid-table mediocrity in my footballing endeavours!)
Mmmm, maybe I should change my name to Abstinence McStagger, or better still how about Aardvark Wolf?
I think Spurs are unstable at the moment. I agree with Mark Lawrenson on his BBC prediction that there might be a little rift between ‘Arry and Levy.
Form and stability considered I’m going 2-0 to us.
Like Thomas, part of me is convinced we will lose, as 10 points from the first three games was beyond my wildest dreams.
But let’s have faith in that Johnson led back four, to frustrate Spurs.
Fletcher and Doyle to score.
1-1
Fletcher scores early, but the offense of the Spurs is too much to shut out for an entire 90 minutes.
I’m gaining confidence in our back four and keeper. Hennessy, Berra and Ward all seem to be maturing and developing, partly from their international experience.
I think, with a bit of luck, we could restrict them to a single goal so i’m going for a 2-1 win.
Another cracker for me. 2-2
1-0 in favour of the Wolves of Wolverhampton.
I say… Wolves 1 – 0 Spurs
Hunty with the winner.
I am going for a draw at 1-1.
If we get a win against this team, top half of the league end of season for sure.
Wolves 1 Spurs 2. Again, if I keep predicting defeats, we might just keep picking up the points.
I do genuinely fear we’ll lose thos one though. A tough game and like Thomas’ blog earlier this week, could be at a bad time to play them!!
The general vibe I’m getting from the handful of Spurs fans I have heard from hasn’t been too great this season. They all seem a bit down on their team. With this in mind, but also the fact we didn’t create many chances against Villa, I’m opting for a 1-1. They’re still a decent side and a point certainly wouldn’t be a bad result.
O’Hara and Johnson
2-1
3-3 This is going to be a mental game.
Honestly I really would take a draw, I know I always seem to say that, but I think Spurs have a LOT of firepower. Can you imagine Lennon against Ward?
In fact the thought of their forward line is a bit scary – for that reason I’m going to say 1 – 2 to Spurs!
Desperately hope I’m wrong though and come on Norwich!
2- 0 to the wolves i think they are going to be a bag off nerves rj to score first
1 – 1
Braaaiiinnnnnssssssssss
2-2 i reckon. would b happy with a point. 3 points would b a dream tho especially as im watching it wiv a spurs fan!
Come on the Wolves!
1-2 Spurs. Bale Vs Stearman to be our undoing… (hopefully wrong, though)
Wolves 0:2 Spurs – but what do I know?
How to build a time machine pal.
Woiuld have prefered 3 (or 1!) points to be honest!
I could just see it coming!
Roll on 3 points against QPR next week (my first TPS game of the season too!)
Wolves 2-1
Ward & Doyle for Wolves
Adebayor pulls one back late for Spurs
I’d be glad with a point from this game. And if the Villa one is any indication, then MM possibly would be pleased with such outcome, too.
1-1 , Fletcher to score.
Thomas, not of real importance, but could you fix my points in the prediction league – had the correct score vs Fulham, not only the outcome,as the table indicates. Thanks.
Yeah, Thomas, stop fiddling the league table like wot you did last year so you could win.
Not only that, I’m sure he’s fixing the games as well! C’mon – Wolves keeping clean sheets…ha-ha.
Fixed my friend, thanks for letting me know.
🙂
2-2 with O’Hara and Johnson scoring.
UTW
Wolves at home playing well spurs struggling and away from home id like to think its a wolves win but they have a lot of quality and we may struggle im not looking forward to seeing Bale and Lennon running at our fullbacks but there is hope. As im not sure and find it difficult to decide im gonna go for a 2-1 win and be positive i havent got a result wrong so far so im hoping my luck will hold out. Itll be nice seeing the fans in the northbank again it just didnt look right without them.
To be honest I won’t be surprised if Wolves lose this one – Tottenham’s a great side!
That being said… I’m going for a 2-2 draw
2-2 all. both teams cancelling each other out in a another brilliant showcase for english football
0-2 Spurs finally getting to right and our full backs tormented to breaking point by their wingers and fullbacks. Hope I am wrong again.
1-2. Adebayor with a late winner. Ah, the pain.
1-1, Wolves with a late equalizer from Doyle.
By the way, good luck to anyone sitting in the new North Bank today. The club have, perhaps unwittingly, labelled today as a ‘live test’ of the stand before letting season ticket holders in next week. It might have them biting their nails before the game starts!
Wolves 0 Spurs 2
Going for an ambitious 1-0 to Wolves. Good luck lads!
For those who use Myp2p to watch the game live on-line, you will need to go to http://www.myp2p.bz, since the usual site (www.myp2pforum.eu) is still off-air
Kightly in for Jarvis….
Hmmm….
My initial optimism fades…
Kightly starts, greatest news ever!
Gonna say 2-0 wolves victory! Goals by O’Hara and Kightly 🙂
Kinda got that one wrong, didn’t you?
Kightly was crap.
