The current 1.5 points per game average would, if maintained over a 38 game stretch, see Wolves finish on 57 points.
That would have placed us 7th last season, 6 points below Arsenal.
It’s impossible to know if this pace can realistically be sustained, but it’s certainly not beyond the realms of possibility based on what we’ve seen so far.

We’re not playing any of the big six until November now so there’s an opportunity to really make some headway over the next four games.
Southampton
Mark Hughes gets a bit of a raw deal in my opinion. Managers tend to be judged by their failures and not their successes but I think he’s had more of the latter.
OK, QPR won’t remember him fondly but I think that’s been his only definitive miss.
I remember being really impressed by the Fulham side he put together in his brief spell in charge at Craven Cottage. Blackburn were similarly strong in his four years there and he was the first Wales manager for years to extract anything close to a decent performance from his national side.

Despite how things ended at Stoke, he took on the unenviable job of trying to improve their style and was successful up until Arnautovic left and things went south.
He’s not really pulling up any trees at Southampton, but the bottom line is he kept them up last season and with a proven track record of building solid Premier League teams I wouldn’t back against him steadying the ship at St. Mary’s.
It’s been an indifferent start for the Saints this term, but a good 2-0 win at Crystal Palace shows they can get the job done. The 3-0 tonking at Anfield last weekend probably isn’t the barometer to judge them fairly.
Danny Ings is the main man these days, but both Charlie Austin and Shane Long have been thorns in our side previously. Nathan Redmond is the other obvious source of pain.

The away end
I lifted the following comments from the match thread on Saints Web.
We’ll score against them, the question is whether we’ll be able to keep them out at the other end. A draw I reckon.
Wolves are pretty much everything we’re not. We will concede at least 2, and are very unlikely to score 2 ourselves. I’m no Einstein but that combination leads me to believe we’ll lose.
A draw is the very best I can see, we are polar opposite teams. Their confidence is sky high whilst we are bereft of any confidence or leadership whatsoever. Wanted to go to this but tickets sold out, at least there will be a good following, time for the away fans to do their stuff again.
Going to this one, last went to Wolves when we won 6-0 despite them dominating the game. Weirdest game of football I’ve ever witnessed. Anyway onto this game, I can’t see us picking up points here, we are awful. 2-0 Wolves, we’ll hand them at least one of the goals with our awful defenders.
Should be a straightforward win. Ings to score a couple.
This is a much more important game than Liverpool as it is a game in which we have probably targeted to pick up points. Players should know how important it is. Lose this one and we are in big trouble.
Nailed on zero points at Wolves. We are not as bad as many think, but we sure as hell aren’t as good as Wolves. Figure it will be a sort of 1-0 or 2-0 maybe 2-1 game. As I have said many times, we will plod along as we are now on about a point a game under Hughes. He is the past and we need to look for an upcoming manager with new ideas. I throw into the ring Mr. Darren Moore at West Brom.
Wolves
I can only envisage the same starting lineup we’ve seen in every game so far, assuming no injuries to our best and brightest.

It’s probably more interesting to think about who might make the bench at present with Dendoncker and Cavaleiro set to make things even more competitive as they get properly up to speed.
Traore is still at the front of the queue for a start, but I just can’t see Nuno sacrificing Costa given his recent upturn in form.
Jota isn’t producing the goods in terms of goals and assists, but his performances are coming good so this might be his weekend.
The Poll
Predictions
There’s a new leader of the Prediction League table so a pat on the back for vicsmith with 11 points. Paddy is still flying along and now up to second with 10 points from just 4 predictions.
Well done to johnok, BARDWolf, Teddy Eley and Wokingham Welsh Wolf who are all tucked in with the chasing pack and are 9 from 6 just like the lads.
View the full table here. And of course join in by leaving a prediction in the comment section below, which is where you’ll find my forecast.
Up The Wolves!

I’ve seen a bit of Southampton this season and while they have individual players that can hurt us, the collective team aren’t as good as Wolves.
Our consistency of performance has also been very good, so not expecting an off day.
Do the basics right and we’ll win this one.
Hopefully our team ethic will win the day. Jota to score.
COMBs!
I think a tight game tomorrow will be spoiled (again) by one man..
Stuart f##*ing Attwell… he of Middlesbrough fame last year.
Why do we always get shit refs.
Putting aside the black kitted controller… I’ve been mightily impressed with the way we’ve adapted and got up to speed in the PL.
However as we all know there are no ‘easy’ games and this will be no exception.
I’m hoping that our energy, commitment and passion to win will, along with the 31000 vociferous Molineux faithful see us over the line.. with Jota and Boly on the scoresheet…
A prediction will no doubt help..
Looking forward to this game after the disappointment of the losing out to Leicester on penalties.
I hope Cav is on the bench because I can see him and Traore having a massive impact in the last 30 mins……
Play the way we have been playing in recent weeks and I see this as a comfortable win
2-0 to Wolves for me guys.
Southampton fans interviewed by the E&S comment on their lack of creativity and identity – safe to say Hughes isn’t a popular man down there.
Slightly concerned by the trickery of Redmond and Ings’ fine start to the season, but as long as we play like we did v Burnley, we’ll sweep the Saints aside. We’ll dominate possession and create our fair share of chances.
They seem a pretty stubborn team so this is all about the first goal. We get it we go on and win.
EXCITED!!!!!
1st home match I am able to attend this season . hopefully I don’t Jinx our impressive start
COYW
Just as Southampton are looking at this fixture to get planned points on the board, so are we, and to be honest should be licking our lips at dare I say an expected 3 points.
While Sparky sets his teams out in a solid and somewhat defensive formation I think we’ve got enough to cause them a few problems. Going for the win, come on me babbies!
This is one of them games we must win, and in the past it was a banker home defeat!
Not no more, Josephine!
Hughes was a good player, I remember seeing him sideways in the air scoring against somebody, but sad to say, now in the managerial dinosaur category.
Just as players get past their sell by date, so do managers, and yet they still seem to get jobs.
Fuckin’ weird, innit?
Anyrode, with ten million screaming fanatics behind us, we can do nothing but win.
This will be the first of many “creamers” where we declare at half time!
Jota to finally score, I feel, he’s due one.
Who else reckons the first Prem manager casualty of the season will be Maureen of Manure?
Wouldn’t that be fun?
Expect a shit eatin’ grin all weekend as we stuff the Saints 5-1.
I’m not sure it would be fun, Clive, as they might go after Nuno! Anyway,
Going after and ‘getting’ are two different things.
As long as we bring to the game all that we’ve shown this season this should be comfortable. But we must be aware of Ings and Austin who can produce from half chances Redmond has impressed me for a few years with, so far , no coach getting the best from him.
Looking forward to being in The Molineux tomorrow and, if can add to our conversion rate, feeling relaxed.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. So it’s the same starting 11 for me and a decent home win.
Looking forward to tomorrow Southampton at a low eb many Saints fans who live near me are bricking it, concerned about the ref who’s record with us is terrible.
l think we will rip them apart.
I think tomorrow will be the start of us getting more than one goal per game on a regular basis. We have a stronger squad than our opponents and it’s about time we put away these ‘almost ‘ chances. Bonatini needs to hit the back of the net pretty quickly or maybe, just maybe, MGW, might get a starter.
Same team, same determination to win. Southampton have not been great this season but they have players who are very capable on their day.
I think we will have too much for them to handle, hopefully we will have our shooting boots well and truly on. Saying that I can’t see many goals in this.
A win it is.
Onward’s & Upwards
🙂
Nuno leaves no stone unturned and will have had his staff analyze the shite out of Southampton as he does everyone .
I just dont see us being caught out or surprised by anyone least of all them.
We have the players now to carry out Nunos masterplans to the letter and they will.
It’s weird having the feeling of we should walk this. Being a wolves fan that doesn’t really come natural, at this level to me. If we play how we have been all season as I think we will then get the win. For me the biggest problem will be if a bit of complacency kicks in. I’m hoping it doesn’t.
3-0 to the superstars.
Going to be far too hot for Southampton to handle – 3pts to the Wolves.
Went to the cup match at Southampton last season where our reserves creamed them easily, and sat with my lad right next to Nuno – shook his hand and spoke with him before the game. Genuine and humble and with us for the long time – we are so lucky to get him.
I won’t be too disappointed with a draw member we are in the prem now, different class to last year, be nice to have both troure and cav on bench, two very forward thinking players with pace.
Won’t be too disappointed with a draw tomorrow, we are in the prem now, different class to championship, be nice to have troure and cav on bench if picked, two very quick forward thinking players.
Here’s quiz question for you all.
‘Quiz question’. Isn’t that tortology?
That wasn’t the question by the way.
The question is, which of our players will be sent off by the man in black (wasn’t that Johnny Cash? What’s he doing refereeing a football match?) and how many penalties will he refuse us?
Answers please on a fizzing cartoon bomb and sent to ‘Mr Stuart Atwell’ care of ‘Crap referees anonymous’.
All that aside, I’m looking for a convincing win tomorrow. We’ve got to start converting our chances sooner or later and I think that Southampton’s defence are there for the taking.
I reckon we might get three tomorrow. Jota, Jiminez and a Neves free kick.
And to top it all, we’ll keep a clean sheet.
theDOOGooder has spoken.
So let it be!
Fizzing cartoon bomb? I was going to ask why not a postcard, but I remembered that you tend to misplace them!
Double like that, Brompto!!!
“And I’d have gotten away with it too if it weren’t for you meddling kids!”
It’s actually hanging up next to the Titian in the Grand Dining Hall at DOOGooder Towers.
No time to chat – too busy watching the Ryder Cup !!
Just a prediction:
It’s the grand final in the funny football game in Australia tomorrow, you get 6 points for kicking a goal and 1 for just missing ( to keep the attention deficient focused)
If we used this scoring formula against Burnley in our last home game we would have won 35-3 ish
I can’t see anything other than a home win here, I’m sure I read somewhere that statistily we had the hardest first 6 games in the league based on last years placings, and with good players pushing for a place the starting 11 will be scrapping like dogs. Oops wolves
I don’t buy into the ‘no easy games in this league ‘ tbh , I actually think there are 6 to 8 bang average teams who are lucky to be in the league and who would struggle to beat some better teams in the championship,
Jota and costa to start and score

Ozzy rules final was a thrilling affair! Also a good excuse for a pint or two at 8:00 AM Bulgarian time :). Well done, Eagles!
If we stick with the same team, I’m expecting the same performance from the same side, coached by the same manager, who demands the same level of quality every game. Only change I see is on the bench, Dendonker did more than enough to show me why Nuno wanted him, but can’t see him unseating Bennett quite yet, also Cavalerio on the bench alongside Traore would certainly scare the shite out of me as a defender.
That makes for very interesting viewing as a Wolves fan, we are building a World class team with a quality bench to match.
“Ain’t life good”?
I’m going to put in my prediction, but with a wry smile on my face, as Iv’e predicted every single game this season, but according to the updated league, Iv’e only made 2.???
Wolves 3
Southampton 1
Hi Stu. Just letting you know I’ve been through all your predictions and feedback is as follows.
Everton – Correctly inputted.
Leicester – Incorrect email address inputted so not counted.
Man City – Commented with score in comment but no score inputted into boxes.
West Ham – Same as above.
Burnley – Same as above.
Man Utd – Correctly inputted.
Southampton – Correctly inputted.
Obviously annoying if you feel you’ve guessed the correct scores but if not inputted correctly it won’t work. I will attempt to manually put those right, but please make sure your score is inputted into the boxes after leaving your comment (it will show in the actual comment) and the correct email is used for all predictions.
THOMAS.
Can you take a look at the prediction league for me, Iv’e made a prediction for every single game this season, but it’s only showing 2.
I never miss, home or away, on holiday or not.
Have certainly seen your many predictions Stu – perhaps you got a red card and Thomas did not tell you LOL
Historically something of a bogey side for us and I can’t remember the last time we beat Southampton in the top flight, but I am not bothered about that tomorrow. The Rolls Royce will roll in to Molineux and purr around the pitch like a Lion pawing at its prey. Mick Channon will be choking in to his tea and Matt Le Tissier will be hiding behind the settee. The Skids (late 70’s New Wave band) used to sing ‘The Saints are coming’ (bloody good tune actually) but they will be sent packing in the Wolf Lair. Well I’m off to a jolly good tribute night tonight The Smiths/New Order/Joy Division triple bill…….. Can’t wait. Just like tomorrow. WWFC 3 Saints 1.
Have fun Dorset PIL
Cheers Dorset ‘AND WE’ LL ALL RISE WITH YOU’…
May the road rise with you. Bloody hell my brains going. Getting old ay it
Certainly is our kid .
Just starting on a so called run of “easier games” so I hope we don’t get complacent because it will bite us on the backside. If we turn up with the same attitude that we have all season I think it will be a convincing win 3-1 wolves
Extrapolation, at this stage of the season, to suggest a seventh place finish, is fanciful.
Back in August 2011, after three games, we were briefly top of the PL. Come the end of that season we were relegated. Of course, any similarity between the Wolves of then and now is entirely fictional, and light years apart. Light has come out of the darkness.
Mark Hughes is not a bad manager. One of my local teams, Fulham, valued him highly. He’s gone off the boil and is a bit out of fashion now, but he could come again. Nuno is part of a new generation of coaches to overtake the likes of Hughes and Allardyce.
I think we will build on the home record tomorrow. Start the same side again and it should be a comfortable 2-0.
I can feel a penalty coming and maybe another game against 10 men
I assume dear Nuno has factored those possibilities into the week’s training
Up at 7 am for best start possible to Saturday morning ( well almost the best) as the old golf and black overpower the visitors
Onwards and upwards
I’m tipping the boys to finally come good with their scoring boots. High confidence, home crowd behind us and everything will finally click.
Never really liked mark Hughes as a manager but I did as a player. Thought he was s great footballer
I think we will win this but I have a feeling it might tighter than we think
We seem to have improved each game so far this season, and I hope that we continue that trend. I expect us to beat a Southampton team lacking confidence who have a few quality players, but arent really at the races as a team.
The pack if we can start like we did against Man Utd should have more than enough quality, and I hope that Cav gets on for a few minutes off the bench for his first game time in the Premier League.
Can only be one winner and the home run continues………
I’m just hoping I can find a stream that is more steady than the one that comes from my urinary tract (I really should get that checked out).
I’m just curious about something else. Why can’t coaches like Hughes and McCarthy adapt to the new styles that are in vogue? Is it just that they don’t like it or what? It’s not like they have to actually play it, just instruct the team to play that way and select players who have the proper skills. I realize the last bit is not easy but they can try. I’m sure there is information somewhere explaining what training drills are good for that and there are videos all over the place that explain the basic philosophies.
If they want to stay relevant, they should try to adapt.
Release Sky as one word and the dot com of course.
Has us every week.
Enjoy it.
strikeout.nu generally works well for me.
I used hesgoal.com and it worked great.

Wolves v Southampton
An ex player well known to some on this blog made his debut v Southampton at Molineux in October 1971. This guy is probably a more accomplished after dinner speaker than he was a footballer (by his own admission) and he was eventually transferred to Manchester City for around £1.4 million in 1979 which funded Andy Gray‘s move to Molineux from Aston Villa for about the same price. Naturally I am referring to Steve Daley – I understands he still holds the record for the fastest ever goal in European Football club competition when he scored from quite an acute angle after about 30 seconds v Ferencvaros at Molineux during our run to the EUFA cup final in 1972. Daley moved to Seattle Sounders after little more than 12 months at Maine Road.
That match v Southampton was recorded for ITV “The Big Match” on Sunday afternoon with the inimitable Hugh Johns the commentator. ITV launched this regional programme covering games across the land from Tyne Tees to Granada, Yorkshire TV to London Weekend and Harlech to Westward TV plus of course our very own ABC as an rejoinder to the BBC Match Of The Day which at that time was drawing huge television audiences since the switch to BBC1 from BBC2. Hugh Johns was a likeable character who liked a drink or three and whilst he was no Wolstenholme or Davies or Motson I really liked his style of commentating.
Wolves won 4-2 in what was an exciting game, Mick Channon and Joe Kirkup scoring for Southampton (they led 2-1 after Doog gave Wolves an early lead) with The Doog (2), Daley and Derek Parkin (penalty) netting for Wanderers. Parkin scored from a twice taken penalty and after scoring from the second stuck his two fingers up to either a Southampton defender or to the whole defence – not too sure which frankly – after they had goaded him to miss. Wagstaffe and Hegan played out of their skins – Waggy smashed in a 30 yarder from a free kick only for the “goal” to be disallowed as it was indirect. John McAlle was fortunate to stay on the pitch after an absolutely dreadful foul in the area on Channon. The referee gave an indirect free kick (?) and McAlle was not even booked. Today that would surely qualify for a straight red without a doubt. Daley’s debut goal was a simple tap into an open net after Hegan squared the ball and wrong footed the Saints defence.
A similar scoreline would do very nicely thank you.
Incidentally if anyone is interested the aforementioned game is on YouTube – all sideburns and shaggy hair and questionable defending – with the Doog in his pomp.
Wolves have played Southampton 63 times with Saints winning on 26 occasions to Wolves 21.
Enjoy the game fellow bloggers, we arrive at (the soon to be revamped) decrepit and tired Wolverhampton railway station at 12.37 and straight into the Thai for lunch – thank the Lord for the occasional 3pm kick off!
BOG
Molineux here I come…….and some more fun in the sun.
Should be a routine win for Wolves – never thought I would be saying that! It is definitely one of those games where the team would expect to collect three points; and the resolve to do so should have been further strengthened by the midweek result.
Costa and Jota to get on the scoresheet.
Very tight game, not easy by any means.
This could be a draw or a tight win.
I’ll stick my neck out and say 2 – 1 to Wolves.
Forgot to forecast
Same as October 1971
4-2
No change of heart
3-0
Jota and Costa are going to get on the mark at some point, may as well be this game. Costa to Jota for the tap in. I think we’ll create a lot once again.
I agree with your comments about Hughes. A competent manager who has consistently overachieved apart from at QPR. His teams are always tidy.
Ings is a danger and he’s the sort of guy I would like to see on the end of some of the chances we create. That said I’m not certain that he wouldn’t fit in with our style of play. Then there’s Austin and Gabiadinni. I think they’ll nab one so we’ll need two.
Wolves will be dominant in this game, i’m going for four and predicting
Jiminez 2 – Costa 1 – Boly 1
In agreement with several previous bloggers, I believe this will be a competitive game and every point at this level has to be earned. The quality of finishing in the PL is high, as evidenced by Fred last week, against the run of play. We will need to be patient, Nuno will ensure we are focussed and with improving options from the bench in Cav, let’s hope for a comfortable win.
I think this is the game when it all finally comes together for our team and I am confidently predicting a 4-0 scoreline. Loved Mark Hughes as a player but think he is too long in the tooth to change how he manages, things change but I don’t think he can. Consequently, other managers know exactly how to nullify his teams. We are one of the most progressive teams in the league and I see us winning at a canter. (famous last words!)
Each of these Premier league games has a uniqueness.
A win tomorrow will build confidence and have us looking even further up the table.
A loss or a draw, will have us back with the mid pack.
Certainly, if we continue as we have done in the past 4 league games, we will win.
On the other hand, it’s a potential banana skin.
I’m predicting a loss.
But I am hoping for a 4-0 victory with a Jiminez hat trick.
Just watched the Europeans whitewash the USA in the foursomes 4-0, and I hope that inspires a Ryder Cup home win. Just need Hamilton to win the grand prix on Sunday, and another 4-0 for my black and gold heroes tomorrow for the perfect sporting weekend.
Hopefully these are the kind of games we’ll win and prove to people that we’re no flash in the pan.
I know its a long season/there’s no easy games etc etc but just look at where we are now. We’ve drawn with two Champions League clubs, both financially much stronger than us, in the Prem. Drawn with a third (Ajax) and beaten 2 further Champions League qualifiers (Young Boys and Basle) and a Europa League qualifier (Villarreal) in pre-season. Hammered another Europa League team (Burnley) and only lost one match all season (basically because of a fluke of an own goal).
This squad of players is definitely good enough to finish in 7th place, if not above. The real problem is that none of us actually believe that the plan won’t come crashing down around our ears, as it has done in the past.
Well said jack, I believe mate , in fact I’m so confident whoever we play ( haven’t been able to say that for about 40 years) in fact from what iv seen so far I think we can finish higher than 7 th but ssshhhhhhh
There’s at least half a dozen teams who would struggle in the championship, I also think all away allocations for wolves will be sold out this year, not because they want to get behind their teams as much as they want some real atmosphere and we’ve got truck loads at the mol
Utw
I’m angry with myself for wimping out on my Man U prediction. I allowed my head to swamp my inner feelings and put us down to lose.
This time I think we will win and the conservative approach would be by the odd goal
but “what the heck”
I feel it will be a resounding 3-1 win to Wolves.
Licking my lips for this one, must be a home win. I just feel we will be too strong for them.
If we keep creating a lot of chances the goals will start to flow! I believe we will win comfortably and score late in this game.
Can’t believe this is anything other than a home win.
UTW
Isn’t it great to be able to go into games these days with confidence in a solid system played by a team that are more than competent and who have shown week after week that they know what they are doing. It’s still a funny old game though – as someone said – and nothing surprises in any single game, but it’s hard to forecast anything but a win – and I’m hoping we can finish off more of our chances. COYW
Unchanged side, again, to face the saints. If we play like we did against Burnley we should have no problems. If we’re going to be finishing in the top half, like several pundits have suggested we might, then we need to be winning these games at home.
We should have enough to get the full 3 points here.
For once we have the extra quality to win against teams in the lower half.
I think we should have enough to win this one, confidence should be high & the home bonus of the crowd.
Lowves, I’m going to the match so if you still want your AA badge let me know where you want to meet (BW statue or something) and a time & I’ll happily met you pass it onto it’s new home.
COYW
Hi Border
Billy Wright statue is fine by me about 2.00 -2.15.? Or anytime to suit you.
Say around 2 then, I’ll be in a Wolves shirt & a red ski jacket Will meet you there.
Is it too early for complacency? I cannot see us losing this one on our current performances. A straightforward two nil win.
See you in the Thai fellow bloggers, prior to seeing us slap Soton.
The first Wolves game I went to was with my dad. Without looking it up, it must have been around 1979/80, we were playing them at The Dell, we won 2-1 or 3-1 , Andy Gray scored with a header. I was only about 13 years old, so didn’t realise I wasn’t supposed to cheer at the away end when we scored! Followed Wolves ever since. 3 points would be fantastic, as my daughters ex boyfriend supports them, and he is a prize Pratt!!
By the law of averages some of these chances we’re creating must find the back of the net soon so I think we’ll win this one………
This is a good opportunity for our forwards to get their shooting boots on and show that all the passing can lead to goals.
But I’ll stick with 2-0.
We should win this one. Will we? I think so.
Not very insightful, I’m afraid.
I just posted some wise words but they seem to have gone astray.Basically said much the same as Meole; time we tarted scoring more freely.
But satisfied with 2-0.
Gonna stick my neck out for this one.we’ve been knocking on the door to smash someone hoping Saturday will be the day.
It’ll be nice to have Cav on the bench for this one as another option.
After Tuesday nights defeat all be it albeit on peno’s I think we are in need of a couple of strikers and another midfielder if Mendes can do his magic we’ll be up there.
UTW FOWB.
I believe this will be the game when all the pieces, finally, come together: our defence keeps a clean sheet (again); the attacking flare continues; AND, a few people find the net.
Should be winnable. Let’s rack up some points!
Go Wolves
Not as easy as some, including the bookies, may be thinking.
We desperately need to start scoring some of the plethora of chances we are creating. The return of the Cav could well help in that department. Otherwise, all is looking good in Camp Nuno and I shall head north tomoz for my first game since Vilareal hopeful, but not over-confident. (I’ve learnt that over-confidence often leads to severe disappointment)
Got a feeling this won’t go well tomorrow.
Would not be surprised to see them nick a goal but we should have enough fire power to get the points.
Wolves 2-1
Can’t see us losing this tbh, I kind of agree with what you say about Hughes getting a bad rap, but I also feel he’s a Mick McCarthy, does well , overachieves, but has a definite ceiling.
We’re certainly looking stronger than a month ago, so it’s a home win for me, Bob
Whilst it’s a game we should win, we have to be wary of the unexpected. I believe we will win but would feel more confident if we showed more conviction with our finishing in front of goal. Time to turn chances into goals.
This game is some ways could be our hardest yet. We approach it full of confidence and expected to win. It’s probably a measure of how far we have come that we are favorites against an established premier league side. However if we produce anything like we have in our recent performances we should pick up 3 points which would set us up nicely for a run against teams we are probably expected to be in and around. Same 11 for me but would find a place on the bench for Cav and Dendoncker
Time for a good home victory!
I’m thinking 2-0.
UTW
As long as we continue to play as we have so far this season, we will win this one fairly comfortably. COMB!
I have fancied us to give someone a right drubbing after watching the fantastic start we’ve made in the prem. The performances recently certainly suggest we can mix it with the big boys . My footie senses are tingling with excitement, telling me we will find that killer instinct and put the saints to the sword. Football on a Saturday afternoon, it’ll never catch on…
Very disappointed with Tuesday night. A chance to progress in a Cup missed.
Expect the same starting 11 as previous league games. Cavaleiro to come from bench. Southampton will be difficult to break down, but expect a fairly comfortable win.
After the midweek cup exit im desperate to see some free flowing, attacking football again with Neves and Moutinho setting the rhythm.
I was very young when Southampton thumped us 4-1 at Molineux in the Premiership under Dave Jones. Utterly vile day and a reminder of how shit we were back then. Tomorrow we are probably favourites to win – a great sign of progress!
Need a lift after Tuesday night, surrounded by people I have never seen before that were so quiet, almost surreal for the South Bank, it just wasn’t the same as a league game. Thank dog for Saturday. Can’t wait.
We’re playing well a lot of the time, but we’re still struggling to score. This could end 1 – 1 I reckon, but I’m going to be optimistic and opt for 1 – 0.
Its such a pleasure that the pessimistic voice in my head is so easily quelled these days.

My two sons (early 20s) are desperate for tickets to Crystal Palace next week. Can anyone assist or advise how they can get them?
Context – Australian family, lifelong Wolves supporters, long time Blog member (including past Prediction League winner!). Have inculcated the way of the Wolves into my kids, who follow avidly. I can’t help with tickets but try Facebook – it has a ‘wolves f.c tickets buy / sell’ page. Also the competition over at ‘Molineux Mix’ has a similar page.
Thanks. Will get the boys on to it!
Again another game we should chalk up for some points (although their fans are saying the same about their team). I think we have the momentum to go on and win most games against teams outside of the big 6. (Wouldn’t it be nice to have the Big 7 in 2 years or so!!). Swaying between a 2-0 or a 2-1 win. Toss of the coin (and a full belief in our defence) makes it a 2-0 choice.
Expect to win this one
These are the games we must win and I think we will.
A clean sheet win on the way.
Would like to see us finish more of the opportunities we are creating.
Hope the goals will come today
More nervous than Manchester United as pundits and media are predicting a Wolves win.
Wolves are still to find their shooting boots so a low scoring game.
Southampton Bloggers reckon that big Willy on the ball is our weakest link so teams still haven’t sussed us out yet.
So predicting the same score as all our other wins in the premier, Adama to score in the last minute and Fortress Mol continues.
Big Willy to chest down a shot off the line, take the the ball upfield leaving Southampton in his wake, and pinging it into the top corner of the net for his second goal!
Weakest link my arse!
SAINTBOLY 2 SAINTLESS SOUTHAMPTON 0
As was commented above – it’s about time goals start coming in for Wolves. And I’m still pissed at this 6-0 thingy…
Mark Hughes is boring, Southampton are boring, Wished Shane Long was playing because he scores about 1 in 5 games, Ings much better.
Now Cav is fit what a subs bench we have. If I am to get up the prediction league then need to think outside the box – LOL
Missed the last couple of predictions. Must do better. If it was own funeral I could have been forgiven I suppose. But it wasn’t obviously. Home win
No doubt they can be a dangerous side, as they showed at Palace and I really rate Danny Ings but I think we should be too strong
We’re a very good organized consistant team and without arrogance creeping in from recent results I think we’ll turn the saints over. Every player is so well drilled it’s a joy to watch. Jota Jimenez neves with goals.
With Jota and Costa being star performers in recent weeks, I fancy each of the former to bag a goal today. Solid in defence. 2-0
Who will portvale as Nono Santa’s Wolfmen host Mark huge St hampton?
Wolfs are looking much more strongly after an iffy start, they holded Josie Marinos red devils to a draw at the old strafford recently. They’ve got a good side with a nice, tight backside, so win here and they can start to look uply rather than downly. Diego jogger to score 1 and helda costa coffee to score 1 and big WILLY bolley to score anuva
We’ll carry on where we left off, but start to convert more chances
Clean sheet – despite the ref.
First game of the season for me. Hope to god I am not a jinx.
We should win this despite having the worst ref in the country today I am surprised he is allowed any where near a PL ground he is so crap.
My only concern is Danny Ings, really good C/F in my opinion.
Same team as last week I hope just find your scoring boots lads.
No brainer for the result ..win take 3 points or sack Nuno ..
We have to win these sort of matches to insure our towards the top position..im sure he knows.
This should be a slaughter ..
How’s about a 2-1 victory. About due, I think.
BBC Football Focus coming from Molineux today. Hey, they are starting to believe in us.
Just realised that useless twat Atwell is the ref.
Well that’s my prediction of a Wolves 2 – 1 win up the spout.
I’ll guarantee he either sends one of our players off or awards a pen against us.
He’s a complete incompetent usless dick head.
I reckon a comfortable win with a controlled performance.
2-0 Wolves
Hope we control the game like we did when Burnley visited but nail a few more chances on goal.
Really pleased how the team is coming together and performing when required. As everyone saying should win and hopefully we do
COYW
Bout time we tonked sum one!
Could be today?
Cav back in squad , Dendonka on bench.
The team that just keeps giving.
🙂
COYW! Finish better and we challenge for 7th!
Two more different scorers.
But we still need a striker!!
May I be the first to say that we need to be more clinical in the final third?
Traore is something else. May not always make the right decisions but he either tries to put the ball in the net or into the box for someone else to get a shot on goal.
He just does it by sheer force of will and power.
