After tonking Brentford, I was probably a bit optimistic with my ‘we could win every home game’ assertion.
Forest soon put pay to that.
But there are nine matches still to contest at Molineux and a solid return will all but guarantee promotion.
This looks, on paper at least, like one of the tougher challenges but in this helter-skelter division, who knows?
We comfortably saw off Villa and Fulham, but toiled against Forest and Sunderland. There’s no second-guessing how these games will unfold.
Sheff Utd
I watched the Blades fall to defeat against Villa in midweek and felt they were desperately unlucky. They were the ones pushing for a winner before Snodgrass administered the last minute sucker punch.
Bristol City stitched them up in similar fashion earlier in the campaign and those two moments alone are the difference between chasing the top two and drifting outside the play-off places.
Chris Wilder has really got it going at Bramall Lane. They play on the front foot and press high, which sometimes leaves them exposed at the back. An away record of won six, lost six and drawn two underlines their ‘all or nothing’ approach.
They completely overwhelmed Wolves in the reverse fixture. Even before Coady was sent off they were swarming over our midfield and forcing mistakes.
Several new faces were brought in during the window to refresh their flagging promotion hopes including Lee Evans. He’s started well and will return with a point to prove.
Richard Stearman is another likely starter, along with Leon Clarke who scored twice against his former club back in September. It’s a right old reunion.
Wolves
Does he start? That’s the immediate dilemma facing Nuno. You would assume Benik Afobe hasn’t come to sit on the bench, but I reckon that’s where he’ll begin his second stint at the club.

We played so well against Ipswich, the same starting eleven seems the logical choice. And I think the power of N’Diaye will be important for winning the midfield battle and freeing up Neves to do his thing.
The more fluid, interchanging front three is better suited to away games, but if it’s not working there are now a couple of options at the head coach’s disposal.
Someone pointed out you can only have five loan signings in your matchday squad, so that means one of Afobe, Jota, N’Diaye, Boly, Bonatini and Vinagre will always miss out. That’s something else Nuno will have to contemplate on a game by game basis. Vinagre seems an obvious choice but he’s the only cover we have at wingback.
Predictions
I know I always predict a win these days, but this season you can’t question the logic. Wolves have won 20 out of 29 matches.
They’re going to push us hard and ask a lot of questions. If they do what they did at Bramall Lane and cancel out our midfield, it will be another long night.
But I think Wolves are more streetwise these days and the more cohesive unit.
2-1.
Up The Wolves!

Revenge
5-1
End of.
Ill be at the match on Sat and think this could be a cracker. I think we have the quality to beat anyone this season on our day but Wolves getting the first goal is vital.
Shef Utd will attack are are no monkeys so i think they will score at some point in the 90. 3-2 Wolves with Afobe netting the winner late on would suit me just fine.
Totally agree with Clive form Houston …..difficult game…. but I was not impressed with the Blades mid week, even if unlucky in defeat…. they don’t have enough to trouble us and we’ll be up for this one
Got to back us for a win this time and hopefully put the ex-player hoodoo to bed…for one game at least.
The other day Clive and I decided to make this season interesting (more interesting). So we decided to have a $200 wager on the final points total, Clive went for 106 Iv’e gone for 116. Iv’e based this on us winning all our remaining games this season. The purchase of Afobe has made me feel that bit more confident. See you at Sunderland Clive, in pounds please.
Below is a link from “the experts” who think we are going to be just shy of the Reading record, pity they would’nt answer my calls to offer them the wager too.

Fir tomorrow obviously a win for me.
Wolves 2-0Sheff Utd
You lie like a dawg, Stubaby, it was $500.00
Interesting as my latest computations, tabulations (and jubilations?) say 110 points.
We can live with that I’m sure.
Other teams are parking the bus, we’re a runaway bus.
I’m going for the 3~1 home win
I reckon 98 points for us stu
Going for a home win tomorrow would like to see graham in matchplay squad think afobe should be on bench let him see what we are like from side and give him last half hour and stretch Sheffield defence
Can you imagine Thomas’s team as above but, Bonatini and Costa on from the start with Cav and Afobe coming on together as impact players at 30 minutes to go.
FFS
COMBambinos
Wolverhampton Wanderers 1
Sheffield United 0
I am in the pub for this one.
Agree with others Afobe to come on as a sub and stretch their defence in the last half hour with his pace. I consider Afobe to be a great loan signing to be replaced by a better quality premier league standard striker which we’re going to need in the summer.
We just need a few more wins and as Thomas said if we win all our home games that’s probably going to be enough, but February has some tough games and we need to stay at the same level as Ipswich for the next few weeks to grow the gap and confirm our pedigree and title winning class.
Can see this being a narrow victory, with Sheff Utd getting a consolation
Be interesting to see the starting line up. Hopefully all fired up for the final push but need to be aware as Utd will be looking to atone for mid week loss. Home win 2-0
I watched the first half of Sheffield United in the week. Nice football but didn’t take their chances and were weighed down by the depressing, cheating Villa side that Steve Bruce has assembled.
Leon Clarke has stopped scoring of late, their loan guy (James Wilson?) has had a few chances to impress at this level and hasn’t taken them, and Clayton Donaldson thrives on pacy counter attacks – we don’t get hit on the break as much because our three at the back system works well in batting away danger.
Their biggest threat is Lee Evans curling one in from a distance, running over to the south bank and shushing the angry Home crowd.
No. I think we have what it takes. Bonatini to score from close range.
Was at the game at Bramble Lane earlier this season, and recall we missed a rather dubious penalty when only 1-0 down, and the biggest difference between our team that evening was Batth and Miranda were our centre halves and both struggled against the home attack.
Its clear Nuno does not rate Danny, while Miranda is probably the least effective signing of the Fosun era, and are nowhere near the quality of our regular centre halves.
We owe them one, and I hope the players feel the same and play accordingly, so for me a home win and other step on the pathway to the poem
Nuno cant rate Danny… who does though? Uncorordinated
Goal giveawayer…we have changed up a gear and we have
King Kong Boly..
I like the “Uncoordinated Goal Giveawayer”. It says it exactly as it is, even if the last word may not even be a word. Brilliant.
Brompton you ought to be a proofer reader…
I was being positive mate. I even noticed your additional e and r, so you are probably right.
Mark,
I am concerned over Batth. I do not rate him, as is known, but I am baffled. If Nuno does not rate him too, why is he still with us. I would certainly not miss him if he left. Like Stearman – He has not been missed either.
An abundance of riches for nuno to contemplate .
Benik at some point but not to start.
Soak up the early onslaught then systematically destroy them .
No mercy and ruthless revenge.
A potentially tricky game with Clarke, Evans and Stearo well up for it. Still reckon we’ll have too much. Afobe is an improvement on the others on current form. Useful to bring on if he doesn’t start.
Lately I have been tipping 1-0 because I thought we would be just happy to get the 3 points (helped me in the prediction league too). But now with Afobe’s addition our formidable forward line (including any subs) should not settle unless we are at least a couple ahead. I am going for a 3-1 (my first non clean sheet for ages).
Can’t wait should be a cracking game full house think we will edge it.
Wolves Aye We
Time to put this band of journeymen in their place and their pie eating fans.
They are a side unable to defend and their attacking philosophy is going to cost them big time. Having watched the game against Villa there was a total lack of quality from either side.
Boly
Cav
Bonatini
Afobe.
Tough game against a dangerous side.
However I think we are refreshed after Marbella as last week’s win at Ipswich showed when we could and probably should have won by 3 or even 4.
We also had the benefit of no midweek game whereas Sheffield United did have to play.
As Matt Doherty said this week someone is going to get a right thumping off us before too long and with the uplifting addition of Afobe to the squad I think it might just be tomorrow.
OODCL
Can’t really see us struggling here and was goibg for another 2-0.
Then I remembered the plethora of ex Wolves tallent available to chris Wilder and I began to consider a Clive score.
But I’m not gonna dis our ex players, even if there is an obvious reason they don’t ply their trade at Molineux any more, so….let’s see some goals!
UTW
I’m really looking forward to this one.
Full house, under floodlights, two teams who are hell bent on attack, a Twix nestling in my pocket for half time, the PMDG’er nestling on the seat next to me in the Steve Bull.
What more could a man ask for?
I fully expect this to be a thoroughly entertaining game with us winning by two clear goals.
I don’t know whether Afobe will be given a run out but it would be good to see him come on for the last ten minutes or so.
I think he’ll get a rousing welcome from the Molineux faithful.
On another point, the World continues to go mad at an ever increasing rate.
I’m not a fan of Formula I, I’d sooner watch…. well, anything really. But they have just announced the end of The Grid Girls. The ones who seem to just stand about and look pretty. The usual reason – “at odds with modern day values. Women being exploited etc etc”.
The thing that makes me shake my head in complete bemusement is that the people who think that they are being exploited aren’t, and never have been Grid Girls. The ones that have been and are, seem to be quite happy to do the job and are bitterly disappointed that they will now no longer have that job to do.
Who’s exploiting them?
It’s just another in the long list of ‘Politically Incorrect’ things that we can no longer do, say or have.
Why do we now have to be told when we’re offended?
It doesn’t make any sense to me.
I would be very interested to get other people’s views on this. Particularly, in this case, views of a female kind.
Doog, I think Stephen Fry summed it up
“It’s now very common to hear people say, ‘I’m rather offended by that.’ As if that gives them certain rights. It’s actually nothing more… than a whine. ‘I find that offensive.’ It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. ‘I am offended by that.’ Well, so fucking what.”
Stephen Fry, The Guardian, 5 June 2005”
Doog not a female perspective but along with the walk on darts girls as well this is ridiculous, they say they are in skimpy costumes but surely you see more flesh on any beach !
Think the world is going mad
If you look at a picture of a naked human being you are a pervert. If you look at a painting of a naked human being you are an art lover. Hell – Beats the shit out of me.
If you look at this are you a pervert or an art lover ?
Neither – Just gobsmacked.
This is just fith, pure obsene filth and it offends me.
Always hate the Hawthorns, always will.
Easy …about to throw up …
I’m afraid to say, that most people are led by the nose and appear pleased to be told their opinions so they don’t need to make the effort themselves.
it’s incredibly depressing.
This attack on men, specifically the heterosexual, able, idependent and strong willed types has been going on, drip fed for years now, in complete contrast to the celebration of feminism and ‘alternative’ lifestyles most of which lead to the eradication of the human race.
The beautiful girls, including Mildenhall’s babes, are therefore out of a job, to be replaced with what, I wonder; cos nature hates a void?
All I warn for anybody out there considering a tilt at the dark side, is there’s no such thing as chicks with dicks, all you’ll get are are blokes with tits!
A game Mrs BW and I like to play – no! wash your mouth out you naughty person! – is to spot the things that wouldn’t be allowed nowadays whilst watching classic programmes from the 1970’s. Most of the comedy shows that get repeated on Gold or similar channels have examples where you can score points. Anything that would nowadays be regarded as sexist or racist or homophonic – which let’s face it is just about everything. Last night I spotted Margot Leadbetter in The Good Life wearing an apron adorned with a ‘Golly’ character from Robinson’s jam – remember them? Actually I recall as a very young child my favourite toy for a while was a Golly soft toy so that must mean I was a racist. It’s a great game and you’d be amazed at what you see. Doctors doing their rounds in hospital smoking a pipe or cigar is a recurring one.
I wish they would make films like they used to. Blazing Saddles springs to mind. The PC brigade would have a field day with that.
Oh how I like your connotations… You can fit my Twix into your pocket anytime buddy ….
Are you coming to the game mate ?
We’ll be there alright. Wouldn’t miss Benik’s second coming!
I totally agree with you – the world has gone stark raving bloody mad.
One of the “grid girls” was interviewed on this issue. Under no circumstances was the lady forced into it – it was a job she loved and was paid handsomely. As she said she will be deprived of earning a living thanks to interfering busybodies who should be told to fuck off and mind their own business. Equally I blame the Formula one decision makers for cow towing to these nonentities. It’s a bloody disgrace that this country has degenerated into this “search the Internet and media for something to be offended about” culture which trolls take great delight in exploiting.
Why the BBC even cut out the scene in Fools and Horses episode “Dates” when Rodney was chased by some yobs while out “cruising” with Nervous Nerris in the Reliant Robin. He stuck his middle finger up and yelled “swivel on that camel breath”. Some brainless twat at the BBC thought listeners would take offence and banned the scene on the repeats!
It’s bollox – all bollox. Absolute bollox.
BOG
Revenge time, and I for one am pleased to see Benik back.
How much of what Morgan/Moxey said was fact and what was reality will come out in the wash.
But Afobe could do a job for us and ensure we get over the line.
Another statement of intent needed with an Afobe hattrick
even if he comes on second half..He needs a goal(s)
Vile to slip up with Burton ..Derby to draw with Brentford
Leon Clarke in this match to get sent off..

Watched Sheffield United a couple of times earlier in the season and was quite impressed with their style and ability. Saw them against Villa and was unimpressed with both teams but United were the team trying to play football. However it was clear why their results have dropped off (two wins in twelve) and see no reason for them reversing that trend tomorrow and expect Wolves to win 2-0. I will be there tomorrow and hope to see Afobe get a warm welcome.
I’m expecting a hard-fought 2-1 win against a very good team. We’re also up against three ex-Wolves and we know the ex-Wolves jinx. One is worrying enough, but three? I thought Sheffield were very unlucky against Villa. Afobe on the bench should give us added confidence.
My gut feeling on Afobe is not only that his form will return but also he will take that forward to the PL with us. But have I missed something as on another site someone remarked that Nuno has been silent so far on Afobe’s return? Is there something to this?
I agree about it being a hard fought game Dances.
Re your last para – Nuno has obviously been talking to me about Afobe’s last few sulking months at the Mol, before he left for the massive crowds and adulation at Bournemouth. I’ll put it down to immaturity and hope that he returns with a sackful of effort to make up for his petulant departure.
I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt for now and hope that he proves me wrong to doubt his attitude.
2-1 Wolves with Leo to score.
COMBs!
I get your meaning Wokingham. Nuno is playing it cool with Afobe because of the past? Sending him a message by silence? I’m all for that. Afobe has to earn Nuno’s attention.
One thing is clear to me. Afobe needs us more than we need him…! Ain’t that wonderful, we’re bringing him in from a position of strength rather than weakness. The (foot) ball is in Afobe’s court. Can you imagine how badly, how really badly, he will want to succeed? That can only be good for all of us.
Nuno’s press interview this afternoon will put your mind at rest Dances.
Certainly glad to have him and he mentions that everyone wanted him here.
Hey doog , I’m not a girl but I do have an opinion! Check out johnathon pie s latest post regards political correctness, funny as ,
As for tomorrow we are playing a team who can be dangerous but a tad maverick ( they have lost 11 already) so I think it will be pretty interesting for an hour and then we will stretch them, it’s a big game but fortunately we have a stack of guys who love the big game, enjoy your selves if you’re going you lucky people, I’ll be up at 2 30 am on the sofa with a cuppa

Oh and we will win btw
If we had all the old players who are going to come back and beat us, still playing for , we would be , well where Millwall are now !
Relax people this is the new wolves
Costa , Jota and Benny to score
will be the 1st match of the year I can get to and very much looking forward to this.
i think 3-1 with all goals scored by wolves players past, present and pending (what price OG from stearman anyone ?)
Hey doog , I’m well,ta
Hope you are too , I really wanted to add the link to make it easier but to be perfectly honest, I’m just not that clever, so thanks
Should be really up for this Coady and Big Wily to ensure they shall not pass and think Benik will come on at some stage to ensure that we get the deserved goals our last few games have not.
It’s on espn3 so will enjoy great picture on phone plus commentary
Assume Afobe’s arrival gives entire team a lift and he comes on when we’re up 2-1 and pops in the decisive third
Meantime am I right to assume bloggers ball is around last home game of season vs Sheffield Wednesday?
Hope so as I’ve booked flights ?
Usually is mate, but I do not know who is organising this year’s ballbash.
This years BallBash is taking place at the Hilton Garden Inn (Honours) Hotel in Sunderland … next to the ground I believe.
There are a number of Nationwide Wolves followers / Nutters (Sorry Bloggers) booked into the hotel for the Sat Night prior to the Sunderland Away game the following day … a fair few I’m told …. so there you have it guys…
I anyone wants anymore info …just ask me ….
I thought that was just a gathering. I thought there was one happening in Wolverhampton on the last home game.
I thought the same. Sunderland gathering – about 30 odd I believe (VERY odd in some cases) – Sheff Wed the ‘official’ Ball bash. Because of the possibility of the Sheff Wed game being moved to say 530pm arrangements not been possible thus far and it’s getting late to organise I guess though Newark Wolves have done some excellent work in sounding out the Novotel. Perhaps someone needs to step up to the plate and organise? I nominate Brompton, StuWolf and Newark.
P.S. Mrs BW will be upset if there’s no Ball Bash in Wolverhampton and she’s not coming to Sunderland.
Marin See next comment … if your over this neck of the woods …let me know and we’ll try to sort something …
OK…I can’t stay for both the last home game and the coup de grace for Sunderland
So I’m hoping that the local ( well UK- based) bloggers are up for a liquid session pre and post match even if its not the usual Bloggers’ bash as in previous years
APRIL 28 firmly circled on my calendar
Will hassle you all for meet up plan nearer the time
Marin
Sunderland might be a trip too far for some of us, there should be plenty of bloggers at the final home match mate. We’ll certainly meet up somewhere for a few jars.
Of course … I got the impression you were going to the Hilton …perhaps not … We’re happy to meet up with all the Bloggers at the last home game …
Yes Mike, we’re planning to make the Hilton as well, but it might be too far for some so the last home match would be ideal.
See you there mate.
I will be at both Mark. Makes sense to have one local
Agreed Steve. We’ll be at both too.
I don’t think Afobe will start but I fully expect to see him come on with 15-20 mins to go. Rest of the team at full throttle to give Nuno a headache of wondering who to play.
Home win.
COYW
Should be a great game and I’m definitely going for a home win again. Just to annoy everybody else I can’t get on the Afobe bandwagon yet and won’t be able to until I get that picture out of my head of him strolling round on our hallowed turf with a couldn’t give a shit attitude and a for sale to any premier league club sticker on his back.
Do I bear grudges – Hell yes.
Me too Wight re Afobe attitude – see above.
UTW!
I am also of that frame of mind. But …….. I hope he proves me wrong and delivers from the start.
Usual worries, ex players returning, on TV, all that crap which used to cause problems. However this is the new Wolves we can beat this lot standing on one leg. They are tailor made for us to give a spanking too.
Expect Afobe to start on bench and come on in 2nd half to petrify Stearman and run riot.
I too watched the blades verses Villa , I watched intently as to be honest , villa s momentum was starting to worry me . What I actually saw was a very good Sheffield display and an excellent display from Evans . How villa came away with 3 points was beyond me although the late winner was a top goal
In recent weeks we’ve looked fragile at times … dominating play without a shot on goal etc
So how do I see this panning out with all things considered…..
We are going to batter them old Yorkshire puddings
Revenge is sweet
Portuhampton 3
Puddings. 1
We are on telly again which is a pain 5:30 kick off but I suppose that’s the price of fame and success.
This has got a Afobe winning goal return all over it and of course with so many ex: Wolves players in there side one of them is bound to score but I’m going for a Wolves win this will be totally different game from the one at there place we are a juggernaut thundering through the Championship and anyone gets in our way will be crushed………where is all these positive vides coming from…….St Nuno of Molinuex even the wife says I’m more cheery these days…!
Can’t wait to watch Afobe in this team
They need to play this one patiently and smart. No early red cards. Should be a Wolves win.
Wolves v Sheffield United
If I had to guess at which of these teams had the better record vs each other it would be a “no brainer” as far as I am concerned. How wrong can I be – again!
We have played the Blades (or the Blunts as Wednesday supporters call ‘em and even less complimentary “The Pigs”) on 112 occasions – Wolves have won 37 compared to Sheffield United’s 39 victories.
Maybe not as aesthetically pleasing as Rome, Sheffield also stands on 7 hills (and 7 rivers). Apart from being the first city to have a football team (Sheffield FC formed in 1857), Sheffield is universally known as the steel city, hence the nickname of United. (Wednesday on the other hand are nicknamed “The Owls” after the area of Sheffield where the club plays its fixtures – Owlerton).
Large scale steel making mushroomed in the mid-19th century thanks to Henry Bessemer and his amazing creation and innovation for converting pig iron into steel known as the Bessemer Converter. During the pre and post war period Sheffield steel was synonymous with quality steel products particularly surgical equipment, cutlery and bicycles to much larger construction projects including ship building and automotive manufacturing. The population grew at an staggering rate from 60,000 in the mid 1860’s to over 550,000 by 1951 when steel production was going full pelt to meet the post war demand. It is difficult to assess how many Sheffield folk were employed in the industry at that time but from 75,000 in 1911 conservative estimates put the figure at over 130,000 in the early 1950’s. By 2016 this had reduced to 2,600 with steel being brought in from other plants like Port Talbot for re-processing. Having spent all my working life in the steel industry and loved it I do feel some affinity with the city. Even though the Black Country had three huge steel makers (Bilston Steel Works, Round Oak and Patent Shaft) and countless smaller processors and consumers, Sheffield is still regarded as the historic steel capital of the UK.
Sod all to with football I agree – sorry about that just off on one……………!
Sheffield United is another of the five teams with one top flight championship to its name which occurred in 1898 and 4 FA cup final victories the last being in 1925. I guess most of us have visited Bramall Lane over the years and I find it quite staggering that their record attendance is over 68,000 especially as for many years the stadium was also used for county cricket matches on a separate pitch with the one stand miles away from the football pitch.
Sheffield United come to Molineux after their blistering start to the season has somewhat faltered. At the end of October they led the table by a point from Wolves but then the wheel nuts started to come a little loose when they lost 5-4 at home to Fulham, another home defeat by Bolton then Villa on Tuesday and a draw against useless Bluenoses has seen them slip to 7th. Additionally Leon Clarke’s goal scoring exploits have dried up in a similar fashion to Bonatini. (Whilst welcoming some old faces, there no room for sentiment guys).
Frankly I cannot recall too many memorable Molineux battles v SU over the years. In February 1966 the Wolverhampton Saturday night must read publication Sporting Star –the fondly remembered “Pink” – published an iconic photograph taken from ground level of Hugh Mcllmoyle literally in mid-flight seemingly flying over the Molineux Street stand when heading home during a 3-0 FA cup victory v top flight Sheffield United in front of over 32,000.
Fast forward to May 1989 when the two clubs were battling for promotion from division three. Wolves were already promoted when Sheffield United arrived in town needing a point themselves. In front of over 24,000 (how did that many squeeze into a two sided Molineux is a mystery) the game ended 2-2 so both sets of fans celebrated after a breath-taking encounter.
I forecast another tight game on Saturday with Wolves edging it 2-1 and another three points in our quest to attain the Holy Grail.
Enjoy the game fellow Bloggers – we will be scoffing an Italian lunchtime special along Darlington Street about 3pm.

Another potential banana skin, but hoping our class will tell. It’s made for Afobe to come off the bench and add some gloss to the score line.
We all know that everyone can beat everyone in this league. We have been outstanding so far. As the season progresses legs get tired, fatigue is common. That break was perfectly timed to enable us to re-charge and continue to perform at levels others cannot compete with.
I like the set up of Jota/Cav/Costa and the way they interchange their roles.
Benik will probably be on the bench and get on at sometime.
Onwards we march, though a tight game I think.
Yet again age is having its toll – forgot to post the prediction….

Silly old F@@@@@R !!!
I’ve been telling him that for years but it don’t make any difference!
They looked like a useful outfit when we played at Bramall lane, but it seems something is amiss given their recent record. I also think that Neves’ penalty hitting the post was the turning point in that match as we had come out with 10 men after HT and set-about them good and proper. We might well have taken a point or 3 had that one gone in. They will be no pushovers as they play a similar system to us (which is one way of negating our strengths). But class will tell and a touch of revenge is in the air.
With so many ex-players on show and our dismal record against the species, it’s odds on that one of ’em will score. My wager is on Benik Afobe to be the ex-player to find the onion bag. As much as I’ve always felt he gave up on us for several games before his eventual departure, I also feel his skills are tailor made for this system and squad, and we may well see the very best of Benik in the three remaining months of the season. When he’s good, he’s very, very good.
Love that this one is on the tele’. It has the makings of a terrific match and, as much as I love a Balti Pie, a walk to my local is better than 400 miles on the motorway every time. Same starting eleven as Ipswich, please Nuno, and with the vociferous backing of a sellout crowd and everyone being good and staying on the pitch, we can glean another important three points.
Got to go for 3 points. On TV, former Wolves players in opposition, late afternoon game, whatever could go wrong? Maybe in the past, but not now – NES has put a stop to those histories. That then beckons, well this is the Championship we are playing in (at least for the next 4 months) and doesn’t anybody beat anybody in this league? Well, yes, but not tomorrow me babbies.
Think this will be close for an hour then we will over run them. If possible, give Benny a run out late on.
I reverted to my tried and trusted method against Ipshite and predicted a draw – thus guaranteeing a win.
Sticking to the same formula for tomorrow and will also be wearing my lucky underpants.
I refuse to give up any of my superstitions until we have amassed 90 points and thus confirmed promotion. We can then go to Cardiff in early April and destroy those bunch of knuckle scrapers in front of Colin Wanker – What a day that is going to be !!!!
OODCL
I think that Sheffield will come to try and win which will suit us 3-1 to Wolves
I don’t hear these people complaining about grid girls also complaining about the movie “Magic Mike”.
I don’t know the movie ”Magic Mike” Tim. What’s it about then??

3-1 Wolves.
Bonatini to score one.
Getting Jota is a bigger deal than loaning Afobe.
It’s magic you know Jota, Afobe,………
Welcome back Stears, Evans and Leon Clarke (only his mother loves him).
A win for the Wolves of course.
A Molineux masterclass in front of a full house, under the floodlights and live on Sky. The blades will be blunted and the watching millions will realise that we have stopped pressing the snooze button and the sleeping giant has finally awoken.
Onwards and upwards – this IS the year.
After reading all these posts and believing there will be an amazing atmosphere with a full ground I had a look at the site to see how many spares seats there were.
Not many. But I spotted one in the Billy Wright W6 A177 and ………….
See you all in the NBB guys – sod watching it on TV.
Hi Brompton,
Addictive isn’t it .
Yeah. It will take about 3.5 hrs from N Yorkshire. But have to come down lol
Fuckin’ good on yer. Bromptie, wish I was only 3 1/2 hours away.
Safe journey takes us about 3 hours.
Steve – I can’t go to the game so you could’ve had my season ticket for nothing. Remember for another time? Mind you I don’t intend missing any more home games!
I’m a big fan of Benik & pleased to see him back.
I don’t however see him being in the squad tomorrow. It ain’t like we’ve been struggling this season & surely we haven’t assessed his level of fitness after a couple of days & he ain’t had much match practise.
I am also 100% sure that in Nuno we trust, so if he’s in, he’s in. If not, then C’est la vie.
As far as Sheffield, well I think we’ve learnt a bit about our team since the last meeting in Bramall La. We’re at the Mol for a start, full house, on the TV and we no longer have to worry about hoo-doo’s as Nuno has bost em all.
Back to winning ways at home tomoz.
Good luck to Benik if he gets some minutes & here’s to a Clive.
I expect to see our regular players up their game with Afobe’s arrival.
Agree with Rickrack above on Afobe, he probably wont be on the bench. You have to earn a place in this Wolves side and nobody last week desevres to be dropped, so Benik will have to wait for Nunos selection, he knows best. The Blades to fold like they did in Cardiff at the Playoffs.
After all the hysteria of Afobe ‘coming home’ I expect him to start on the Bench tomorrow. I fully expect the same 11 that played against Ipswich to start tomorrow. Although a front 3 of Costa, Jota & Cav is probably suited better for away games and I would have started N’Diaye even if Saiss was fit.
Sheff Utd where unlucky to lose against Villa on Tuesday but they have been on a poor run for a few weeks now but I still expect them to come and try to win the game tomorrow and its they way Chris Wilder goes about things, Therefore I predict goals and a Wolves win and hopefully a goal from a Sub!!!
By all accounts Sheff U put on a gritty display last week only to lose to a sucker Snodgrass punch at the last knockings.
Well tomorrow you Ex Wolves’ players you’re going to be on the end of some more punches.. and not sucker ones ….
We’ve got some unfinished business with the Steel City guys and Afobe will be adding to their woe.
I’m not expecting any changes to last week but would be surprised if Afobe didn’t get some game time…. and a goal to kick off his return.
What’s not to like about all things Wolves …. enjoy the game lads …hope to see a few bloggers tomorrow…..
Predictions always help….
Hopefully another win against a useful side on their day,as we found out last time we met .
Hope Benik plays some part in the game and scores to shut up the doubters.
I’m glad he’s back to offer something a bit different up top to where we’ve been lacking of late, and shoot us to the premiership.
Another bumper crowd and hopefully 3 points in the bag.UTW.
been lacking of late.
Nuno had a dream.
To build a football team.
Chinese owners, a wonderkid from Porto.
Three at the back.
Afobe in attack.
We’re Wolverhampton, we’re on our way back.
Doo doo doop, doo doo doop
I always thought Sheffield was a gritty South Yorkshire city full of blokes with cloth caps telling you to fuck off for living to the south of Chesterfield. Then I saw The Human League on Top of the Pops featuring a lead singer with hair that resembled a cross between a pair of curtains and a draft excluder. I wondered how the local barber in Gornal would cope with a request for a cut ‘like that bloke out of The Human League’. I used to go in and request a ‘New Order’ which he could cope with because it was basically grade 1 short back and sides and some floppy stuff on top. Any way I mentioned the ‘League’ because they are from Sheffield and so are tomorrow’s opponents. We will win because it will be very cold and this means Leon will have so many pairs of gloves on that he will get wedged in the tunnel on the way to the pitch. The game goes on without him as the fire brigade attempt a rescue. Stears will forget who he is playing for and head in to his own net instead of clearing a corner and Lee Evans is just fucking shit any way. A torrid afternoon awaits the blades and a 3-1 walloping awaits. After the match Nuno said ‘our opponents are always difficult but especially so when they wear 17 pairs of gloves and get stuck in the tunnel. The fire brigade were getting on my nerves with all that fuckin drilling and stuff trying to free an opponent. The boys were not phased and did well. We thank the fans. I also managed to retrieve 15 pairs of Leo’s gloves left on the floor so that is good. I need Vitamin D’ WWFC 3-1 BLADES.
I’ll have a pint of what you’re on COD!
We have so moved on from the ex wolves in the Sheffield team. Thanks for your endeavours but with a bit of luck we will show we have now attained a new level of class..
Looking forward to watching this oxen in Aus – and welcoming Adobe back
* Not sure about the oxen, but will watch this one in Aus
Did anyone else have problems logging on to leave a prediction last week?
I was In France last week mate and managed it ok on my iPhone
UTW
Fuck France, I couldn’t get on all morning, from Wombourne! Took me ’til twenty to three. WTF Thomas?
I’d stick Danny B at CF and let him and Stears squabble over the same ball, causing chaos in their box for a change.
As for Afobe, well, you can’t always get what you want but sometimes you get what you need. He’ll get 110% of my support and I know he’ll give 100% back.
WAW 🙂 🙂 🙂
Cut these blades to pieces.
Three smiley faces means 3-0
Yes I couldn’t get logged on at all so wasn’t able to predict the score – hope this doesn’t stop me winning the league 😉
Yes Telford – I tried several times but kept getting an error message about logging on to the database and missed forecasting. Not too fussed, I got the result tight but not the score.
Given that some lapses are likely to happen (even in the best regulated teams), one day soon the missed chances are going to start going in … and today could be the day. Therefore am going for a decent win.

Yes, had problems logging on. Just got an error message after a long pause, with my posting lost. Happened a few times recently.
Cavaleiro, Jota, Costa upfront with Bonatini and Afobe on the bench champing at the bit.
Revenge for the loss earlier in the season.
Can’t see anything but a win but an ex-Wolves player is sure to score.
I had problems as well.
Gonna be a cracker. Bonatini hat trick.
Return of the Jedi
Welcome home to Ben Obi-Wan Afobe
May the force and the fans be with you, Ben
COYW
I’m going for 2-1 again.
Today will be a banquet . A banquet to welcome home our long lost son Benik.
Today Benik you shall feast at the table of Nuno.
You shall fill your belly at the deliveries to your table made by your exulted waiters Mr Jota, Mr Neves and Mr Costa and it will be a feast you have only dreamt of for perfection will be laid before you.
And when you have feasted enough and are weary you shall retire to sit and watch as Mr Cavaleiro , another hero, steps before you to finish off what you started .
Tonight you shall sleep deeply with a smile, knowing in your heart of hearts that you are truly back home where you belong.
WELCOME BACK BENIK AFOBE
Reluctantly I feel that Villa will take the second spot. Having applied the stunningly brilliant strategy of studying championship statistics and just financially hoovering up the likes of McCormack, Hourihane, Kodija, Hogan, Adome Snodgrass and Grabban. Then using old pal acts to land Johnstone and Tuanazebe from Utd. Fair enough, they have the brand, the connections and the clout so use it.
But then to look down their noses at the use we have made of both the Mendes connection and the loan system makes me sick. Pure arrogance and hypocrisy. The level of mismanagement at that club over the last ten years is beyond belief and I am totally convinced their collection of championship gallacticos will struggle in the prem. Financially too big for the championship but lacking the style and brains to make it at the next level. Rolling out the same old strategy with the same old managers and myopic owners on a cut price ego trip. Another Newcastle.
So where does that put us? Truth is we won’t really know until the end of next season. But it sure ain’t same old. Landing Afobe was just another excellent example of bright tenacious management. Touching wood but at the moment we are getting so many things right including the size and balance of the squad.
Wilder is doing a great job at Sheffield but unless there is an unforeseen disaster this should be a straightforward result. Costa to score today.
Quick word of praise for the job Paul Cook is doing at Wigan. He is building up an excellent CV.
Sounding a little like that other music great, Joe Cocker, from the Steel City after a laryngoscopy yesterday. I’ll try to confine myself to some restrained shouting tonight in front of the telly.
I’m really looking forward to seeing the lineup tonight and to how our forwards respond to the Afobe signing. Benik (if he’s fit) on the bench will certainly whet the appetite of many fans.
Not expecting Wolves to cocker this up [sorry, couldn’t resist it].
I love going to the dentist. I’m an extractor fan.
I once had a Scottish dentist. I used to call him McCavity. His response was that he knew a gay Scottish dentist called Phil McCavity.
My Mrs has forced me to sit in the away end for this one. So Sod’s law I’ll have to be the quiet smug git whilst wolves run riot. That said I’d settle for us evening the score a nice comfy 2-0 at home and basking in the gap on the way home would be fine.
Must have been impossible for you to restrain your emotions watching all that superb Wolves talent !
Goals galore at molineux today. That’ll teach them for beating us last time round
Wolves 2 Sheff United 1
Let’s do this for our Big Wily….

This is taken from the after match report by Chris Wilder
Sheffield United: No complaints from Chris Wilder as Blades are well beaten by Wolves Blades boss Chris Wilder ?
“ Chris Wilder admits he had no complaints after his side were beaten comfortably by Championship leaders Wolves at Molineux tonight. Two goals in the first half hour from Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota and a second-half free-kick from Ivan Cavaleiro ensured that Wolves opened up an 11-point lead at the top of the table. And United manager Wilder, whose side had to play the final 17 minutes with 10 men after goalkeeper Simon Moore was sent off for a challenge on Jota, admitted the visitors had been beaten by the better team. Wilder said: “We have got no complaints. They are a fantastic side and they have done it to other teams as much as they have done it to us. “We stuck as it and tried to find a way to get back but they had too much for us on the day. I take my hat off to the players that they have got and where they are going. “But I have got to say when we stepped into the division people talked about this happening to us every three or four games and it has taken until February 3 for someone to do that to us. “No-one has done that to us all season so credit to my players in terms of what they have done for the previous 25 games, and credit to the opposition and the way that they played. “No heads dropped out there, because if heads drop that turns into a four, five or six defeat if they did and they didn’t. “It was important that my players stuck in and they did that. It is no disgrace to lose to a team who are one of the best Championship teams there has been for a long, long time.”
We’re gonna smash the prem to pieces next season. We’re better at defending than at least 15 teams in that division, and we’re better going forward than nearly as many as that. And without whichever ridiculous signings we’ll make in the summer.
These are heady days indeed. Tell all your non-Wolves supporting mates that this is their last chance to switch allegiance without being called a glory hunter. Europe here we come!
watched the match – fantastic, you run out of words to describe what it is like to be a wolves supporter
see on wiki that big wily has a 45 mill euro buyout clause from porto, so that’s where some of our promotion funds should be invested
Last night drunk on the euphoria of seeing our side batter United, including two world class goals, I nipped over to nearby Bletchley Park and had a little dabble on their Enigma machine. Here are the results:
We will clinch promotion on 7th April in Cardiff.
We will clinch the title three days later at home to Derby.
We will get 108 points – a new record for the division.
We will finish 17 points ahead of 2nd places Derby.
We will finish 23 points ahead of 3rd place.
OODCL
Bedders, are you Mystic Meg as well by any chance ? Will need to get a ticket for Cardiff then, bring it on !!
Absolute filth, are we really watching this or is it a collective dream.
