Back in August, you’d have got good odds on this fixture being 5th vs 6th with a third of the season gone.
Both teams may have slid down a few places by the time it kicks off I suppose, but that shouldn’t take away from the achievement.

It’s worth remembering this was a League One contest in the not too distant past.
The teams have been put together in very different ways, but what they have in common is a progressive head coach who refuses to compromise their approach regardless of the opposition.
This should be a really good game.
Sheffield Utd
When we lost at Bramall Lane two years ago it was evident what Chris Wilder was building.
There was an intensity to their play that Nuno’s burgeoning team simply couldn’t contain and they ran out deserved winners.
It didn’t quite happen for them that season and they hardly coasted to promotion a year later, but they’ve developed their style in the Premier League and look as good as anyone outside the top four.

I watched their 3-3 draw with Man Utd last weekend and save for a 10-minute collapse were comfortably the better side.
They press high, win a lot of second balls and are very direct in attack. Even their centre backs maraud forward when the opportunity presents itself.
They’re undefeated in their 6 away fixtures thus far (and didn’t lose away for a long time in the Championship before that either) but have only won one of those games.

The away end
Some surprisingly pessimistic comments lifted from the match thread on a Blades forum.
Not confident for this one at all. I call these a bogey side for us. I’m even less confident now I’ve seen our stats for Molineux – 10 wins. The “hope” I have is that they pick up an injury tonight or they’re a bit fatigued. We’ve had the week off whereas they won’t have. I know they have a bit of a cushion points wise in their group so could rotate the squad slightly which wouldn’t help us. We’ll see. But as above, these are our biggest test so far for me.
played their full strength team and blown a 3-1 lead. hope they’re not fully physically and mentally there on sunday. honestly can’t see us getting anything from it if they are
Ive said early in the thread that I don’t like this one but the fact they’ve played last night, won’t be in training today and will be more tired than is gives us a slight advantage in that regard. Hopefully we can get something but I’m not backing us.
Think this will be an end to our unbeaten run. Wolves probably have one of the best squads on paper and are to some extent under achieving in the prem. I’m going 2-0 wolves but the Blades to bounce back with 3 wins on the bounce.
Hopefully catch em cold after a Thursday trip to Europe. Unbeaten run continues 1-2 Blades
Wolves
I believe Romain Saiss is suspended for this one, which gives Nuno a headache.

If Ryan Bennett is fit, which might be fanciful, I’d definitely be using him to fill the gap. I’d still put Vallejo above Kilman but that’s probably an unpopular call.
In isolation that enforced change shouldn’t be the decisive factor as long as everyone else is fit and firing.
The front three showed again last night that given the opportunity they will wreak havoc. Even in an open game, I now feel we can hope to outscore most teams, particularly at home.

Up The Wolves!

Thomas as ever an insightful summary and scene setter for this game. Curious as to your rationale for why you would put Vallejo ahead of Kilman though? I’ve never seen Kilman have a bad game in a wolves shirt whereas I don’t think I’ve ever seen Vallejo look solid in a game?
Nothing against Kilman and I wouldn’t be disappointed to see him in the team if he does play ahead of Vallejo (Bennett the obvious replacement if fit of course).
I just refuse to believe Vallejo is as bad as he looked in that game against Southampton. You don’t come through at Real Madrid if you’re total garbage. He’s got more to offer than he’s shown thus far.
Kilman has looked OK to me (and I mean OK) but has only played a few games in the Europa where Wolves were comfortably the better side. If he were to play Sunday I’d call it his first proper examination and one I’d watch with real interest.
Yes I can see your argument as to Vallejo and his pedigree would suggest he has got to be better than he has thus far appeared and that Kilman has not yet been put under PL scrutiny. However, given that Kilman has not failed the tests put to him but Vallejo has thus far , Kilman ( if Bennett not fit) should now be given a PL chance ahead of Vallejo in my opinion.
Thomas its not just the performance against Southampton – against Chelsea he was totally inept and has looked shaky on most other appearances. The problem with Vallejo in my opinion is he lacks the two basics for a PL centre back – height and pace. I could maybe see him as cover for Coady but not as one of the two centre backs either side.
Good points Bedford and don’t disagree with any of that.
I would add ‘strength’ to the attributes he lacks. If he was a unit, I could forgive a lack of pace, but he’s looked physically weak and doesn’t play with enough aggression to compensate.
I remember the Torino away game he looked decent though so wondering if he can just get through a game in a similar way to help us along.
You’re right about him playing centrally, but interestingly Nuno didn’t use him there against Villa in the League Cup which presumably was the ideal place to try that experiment. Surely our scouts saw him play on the right of a back three before signing him?
Anyway, I don’t want to get tarred with the brush of saying I think he’s great, when he clearly hasn’t been. He’s our sixth/seventh choice center back and deservedly so.
My point is I’m just not as convinced by Kilman as everyone else seems to be based on what I’ve seen thus far.
Would like too see us play Kilman even over Bennett for the balance of the side.
2-1 Wolves, Jota to get a goal.
Looking forward to this one there’s surely going to be goals. We’re in good form and playing well so I’ll go for a home win. Jimenez is on fire at the moment and is proving he’s one of the best strikers in the league. Jota to score at some point tomorrow!
Two teams playing very well. We’re at home and have greater quality but I do wonder if the combination of fatigue and having to change the team might tip things in their favour a bit. It would be great collect 4-6 points from these two home games, but I reckon this one might be a draw.
Really looking forward to this game should be a cracker. Going to go for a win but I think I might take a point after a Europa league game played on a ploughed field.
The first of the six league games Ruben Neves has to try and negotiate without getting yellow carded otherwise he will be hit with a one match ban.
Who will come in for the suspended and greatly under-rated Saiss? Will it be Kilman or will it be Bennett? I don’t mind too much either way just as long as it isn’t Vallejo.
Since the first meeting between the two clubs in 1893 we have played Sheffield United 111 times in all competitions. Thus far our record couldn’t be too much closer;
P 111 W 37 D 36 L 38 F 178 A 173
In recent times our home record against them has been good and since 1997 the past 11 league meetings at Molineux have seen us win 5, draw 5 and lose just the once – which was 17 years ago.
My personal favourite memory was a midweek game at Molineux in January 1995. A minute into stoppage time we trailed 0-2 thanks to two Nathan Blake goals. At least half the ground had emptied by the time we pulled one back – a John De Wolf penalty after Don Goodman was brought down – and by the time Neil Emblen made it 2-2 with a looping header it seemed like it was just me and my eldest lad Daryl left in the ground!
I think this game will be tight – like so many are these days – but I fancy us to even up the record books with a win.
OODCL
Great post Thomas, my mind goes back to when we played at the Mol 88-89 season and both got promotion shaking hands with the Blade’s fans after great game and atmosphere. Tough game tomorrow but we will win.
F— The Arsenal!!!!
Too close to call. Having known nothing for weeks, no years, I am still in the land of the unknowing.
Who would have thought that this would be a top six clash. Sheff Utd have really impressed me with their high energy and funky overlapping centre backs. We will have to match their incessant work rate which after our efforts in monsoon conditions in Braga could be tough. Only one change Kilman comes in for Saiss for me.
I would love to think we could field a fresh first eleven, but seeing the conditions at Braga I think it will take its toil on the forwards. Won’t be surprised to see a couple of changes in the 1st eleven.
Hoping for a win as always.
A couple of days resting up even after playing on a beach last night should see the superfit athletes we have being up for it .
Sheffield are having the rub of the green so far but things can change very quickly as we get to halfway and everyone has been sussed out by opposition coaches.
Saying that they are playing very well but so are we.
I am just a tad concerned that we are starting to be found out for a lack of height at the back from teams who play with big men arriving up front at set pieces.
They will chase us down on Sunday and we will need to be quick with the ball .
We can play some lovely sharp interchanging football at times but these periods need to be longer and end product has to be there as well.
Our front three superstars were taken off early last night and thats when the game changed so a full ninety will be required this time out.
So no silly fouls around the box , no corners and i believe we will have a comfortable game against a very good side.
Fabulous to see that two of the so called top six teams have sacked their managers after only one third of the season!
I firmly believe that Dr. Nuno and Co. are privately laughing their collective heads off at the bullshit speculation about the Arsenal job.
If the powers that be at Arsenal, who must be reasonably intelligent to hold those positions in the first place, hadn’t got someone lined up prior to Dick Emery’s sacking, and are just now starting the straw clutching exercise of manager hunting, then they deserve to be in the shit they find themselves.
I think, personally, me, myself, I, that a done and dusted deal is already in place, and some poor sucker has been recruited, and will be another to win the contract lottery in a couple of years when he inevitably gets sacked.
Anyway, bollocks to the Arsenal, onto Sunday’s game.
I remember a couple of years ago Sheffield were pretty good, and came to the Mol full of piss and wind about how they were going to steamroller us again, blah, blah, blah, and we stuffed ’em 3-0, with goals from Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota and Ivan Cavaleiro.
Don’t think we will have the same scoreline this time around, we will get more.
Once again, all the bollocks about being tired after a European game is just that, bollocks.
Most teams play some mid week games, be they in the cup, or replays or rearranged fixtures for what ever reason, and we don’t see the pre game excuses being trotted out for potentially bad performances, especially for the teams in the Champions league, so why all the nerves about us playing twice a week?
We aspire to be in Europe, not fear it, so why the panic?
Our beloved Dr. Nuno will once again have weaved his magic web over our footballing hero’s, and we will be well prepared for the Blades.
Bring ’em on!
I was looking forward to us picking up a load of points from the next few games, but I’m now worried that the Arsenal situation may become a distraction, whatever the outcome.
That said, it will take a lot to throw off our front three from their excellent form at the moment so I am sure we will bag at least a couple in this game. Do we have the legs after our midweek trip to keep them out with Saiss missing?
Wolves 1
Sheff Utd 0
Killman for me
Cutrone, Neto and Traore to start
Jiminez and Jota for the last 30
And a convincing win ….how good were those goals last night?
Slightly optimistic but I’m going with it
Heavy legs is a possibility after yesterday so a draw beckons I think.
That pitch was Div 1 quality at best, Jimenez was getting harried and kicked last night and got his hackles up, hence him being pulled from the game.
My theory and it’s mine only, with the 4 Portuguese guys on the field at 3-1 decided to put the other two on for experience in their homeland. Big mistake again, if your pulling Jimmy then Patrick has to play, fresh legs with no change of direction.
Hey we qualified and can still take top spot.
Sunday, different game different scenario. Front three rested a little more than the others.
I think our guys are up for everything now and as pointed out. They are super fit athlete’s who will recover in time.
Chris Wilder has done a great job with the team, but even he is wary of us for Sunday.
If we crack the playing both halves plan, I feel we can shave this, then move on to West Am.
Our 12th man will be up for it.
Wolves 2
Sheff U 0
Writing this from Porto; to be fair the Braga pitch stood up to the torrential downpour very well. Yes it was slippery, but it only cut up in a couple of places and generally stayed flat and smooth. I did get pissed off at HT when I saw that there were 10 guys working the half of the pitch Braga would be attacking and only one working the end we were kicking towards.
Oh, us to win Sunday.
I’m guessing the guys who played last night will get all kinds of physio to help them recover from the pitch.
Leg massages and engery drinks. Cold baths or hot baths – whichever are best.
They will be fine.
I’m going to predict a 2-1 victory for Wolves.
Just looking at the pitch last night, that was a hard match against Braga. I am concerned about the very short turn around for Sunday’s game.
On that basis, I’m going for a draw (but I would be happy to be proved wrong).
Yep, having seen how we gave away a 3-1 lead on Thursday and adding to that the inevitable travel fatigue, plus the Blades great performance so far this season, I’m drawn towards a home defeat I’m afraid. Wolves 1 Blades 2.
Would love to proved wrong though!
Molineux is going to be LOUD on Sunday.
The crowd and team will be up for it. Points to prove for all sorts of reasons.
Sheffield Utd are a good side who are more than a sum of their parts.
But I can’t think of any of their eleven who would get into the Wolves team.
We ooze class, and, as long as we start on the front foot, we should win.
I am REALLY looking forward to it.
Just received a FaceTime call from the reprobates still out in Porto.
Back tomorrow and off to Molineux on Sunday.
They, and the 6000 others who made the trip are the sort of fans that make this club so much more special than any prawn sandwich outfit from down south.
Did you know that Arsenal is an anagram of ARSE if you leave out three letters?
Cheers Mark and Sue… a pleasure sharing my Portuguese bottle of white wine and a couple of beers with you two over a FaceTime chat….
And that’s just from the Twixes….
Hope to see you Sunday…
Oh btw you’re on the next Euro jolleeeeee….
You remind me how much I enjoyed a question posed a few years ago by a colleague who sadly passed away recently – Question: Name the three football teams whose names contain rude words….. Answer: Arsenal, Scunthorpe and Manchester F…..g United.
Anal if you leave out another three.
Anxious about this one. Optimistically predicting a draw but expecting worse.
I’m surprised Sheff Unt are so high in the table – can’t name a single Blades player ! So what do I know !
We have enough depth to make any changes necessary due to the midweek match; fully expect us to win.
Still in Porto. An unforgettable few days. Great to meet Ben R in Braga yesterday, and what an atmosphere around the main square. Forget the ridiculous heavy handed tactics adopted by the Portuguese rozzers, each one of the 6000 Wolves fans did the club proud.
Looking forward to getting back to the Mol on Sunday.
Slightly worried about fatigue/tight turnaround, but if we attack like we did in the first half v Braga, we’ll have too much for Sheff U.
And Kilman has to start for me. Done nothing wrong in the Europa League and deserves his chance.
UTW!
Where are you paddy…
I think we’ll put these to the sword, just need to be sure that if we do get a good lead that we manage the game out…..
This is what will happen. The Portuguese contingent will be so upset by the ‘Nuno to Arsenal’ bollocks that they run about so much that their socks will set on fire. This will ensure that a sudden gust of wind will spread the flames to Chris Wilders hair. Mass panic will therefore spread through the Blades team. Unable to compose themselves as Wilder struggles to put his hair out with a fire extinguisher the Wolves team will capitalise and put the Blades to the sword. WWFC 3 Blades 0. After the match Chris Wilders said ” I have never been set fire to before. Where was VAR?”. Nuno said ” Fuck off Arsenal”
Was the cat involved?
The cat is down at the Emirates having a shit in the goalmouth.
I’m hoping the boys are out of the deep freeze chamber and thawed out ready to blunt the blades.
We’re still in Porto and flying back tomorrow to prepare for Sunday.
Believe me I shall be bushed come Sunday lunchtime… so I’m hoping that the boys can pull that extra 10% to secure victory and blunt the Arses chances of luring Dr Nuno….
I expect a high scoring affair! Hopefully jota can get on the scoresheet
For me I expect the Nuno-to-Arsenal nonsense to add an extra factor to the occasion and I can see the twelfth man having an even bigger input than usual. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a really outlandish result, but will temper my wilder – see what I did there 🙂 – flights of fancy and go for a relatively sober 4-2 win.
COYW
FOA
I can see them scoring, but I can see us scoring more 2-1/3-1.
To me Ryan Bennett if fit is a far safer bet than Romain ( let me hang on to your shoulders and get booked again. ) If not fit. the the kid Kilman looks a solid betfor the future. Vallejo is a rabbit in the headlights as nervous as can be and shouldn’t be anywhere near the first tea..
I recall in the game we lost 2-0 at Bramhall lane in our promotion year, Danny Baath and the Portugese lad we cant give away on loan were playing centre half and being bullied by Leon Clarke. plus Ruben Neves hit the post with an early penalty attempt.
How times have changed. Thought some of our football in Braga was exceptional.
There will never be an easy game to blood Kilman in the prem, but he is big, pacey and mobile, maybe blood him as a substitute in a few games if its too risky to start with him.
Driving over from Nottingham early and fully expect a Jota hatrick at last and a 4-1 scoreline for the three points and increase the gap over arsenal.
We seem to have changed from struggling in the first half and playing much better in the second, to the reverse!! The day we get a full 90 minutes of playing liquid football,
someone will get utterly destroyed– Clives’ prediction will be accurate! Big win for Wolves.
Heavy legs!
My wife gets heavy legs from shopping late on Thursday and still jumps up Saturday and Sunday morning for hours of Xmas shopping
Nah , the boys Will be fine come Sunday, I do like Sheff utd though and think they can score so,,, 3-2 in a cracker to show arsenal what they can’t have
Utw
I see this as two top form teams dueling out an excellent match. Hoping we pull it out, but likely a draw.
I Hope all the speculation about Arsenal results in a nice pay rise for Dr Nuno and his boys..and why not
Why the hell would he want to move to such a dysfunctional mob? But you only get one go at at this life and if he needs extra dosh to be content then fine
Meantime it’s weird that we are not rubbing our hands at the prospect of three home points from this game…but Manure showed for 10 minutes how they are undone.. fast liquid football… and we do that for a living… so no more queasy 1-1 predictions from me
Onwards and upwards
Hope Cutrone gets both
This will be a great match between two confident teams who believe they can win any game by playing the way they do.
The game on Thursday reminded me of my youth, when the Baseball Ground made a ploughed field look like a croquet lawn, but we came through it unscathed and the return to the Mol will make this match, physically, a breeze.
Bennett to come in if fit, for me. I’m a great admirer of young Kilman, but he’s very inexperienced and The Blades are a team who like to pressure high up the pitch and things could get pretty hairy back there. Bennett has vast experience and always seems calm despite other perceived shortcomings.
I would dearly love to be at this one as I feel it could be one of the games of the season.
Enjoy!
Fully agree on all counts, predict a draw in view of our exploits on Thursday and a nervy last 10 mins when they see how tired we are and throw the kitchen sink at us. Definitely a game for Ryan Bennett to show his grit. Hammer West Ham on Wednesday to wind up a good run of form. Happy with 4 points from 6 against the background of the heroics in Braga
The 12th man comes out in force and bestows a lovefest on the team and the good Doctor providing a spark to those supposedly tired legs.
Kilman has to start at left cb score 2-0 jota to score first.
Mmmmmmm. I don’t think Vallejo can be as bad as he’s sometimes looked but I’d be seriously concerned if he was selected. Kilman would slip in on the left. If Bennett was introduced you’d have to move the Donk across and that would be an additional change albeit positional.
I think this will be a real test but going for a close run win.
We all went out to the FC Porto ground yesterday, ( well, it has to be done).
Met up with Wayne from North Sydney in Australia. Talked for ages, and told him all about the Wolvesblog.com. So Wayne if your’e reading this, get your Avatar sorted and jump aboard this magnificent ride called Wolves.
I thought we’d travelled a fair way to watch the Wolves, but hats off to the International guys one and all.
What was that band called? Oh yes that’s it. Motley Crew.
OODCL
Bedders, wrong group. I think that ones calls No Direction
I am with Wolfstroker regarding Kilman. Like him a lot but S.U. are a big strong team and I would prefer the guile and maturity of Bennett.
Will we be knackered from Thursday? Time will tell but hopefully the cryochamber will have done the trick otherwise we might get stuffed.
Surprised there have not been more accolades for the cross by Ruiz and the run and header by the Doc -one of the best goals I have ever seen.
Deserves more praise!
Bennett in if fit otherwise go for Kilman
would be happy with a draw against these boys
Cometh the hour cometh the man – diogo to finally get an hat trick against a three man defence.
Like two fighters just standing and hitting the hell out of each other with Wolves quality shining through at the end.
After the exertions of Thursday achieving anything out of this game will be a real achievement. Bennett’s experience very important would expect Nuno to stick with him.
As we’ve been saying for weeks now someone is going to get a pasting soon. But I don’t think it will be tomorrow.
They don’t concede many and we’re currently unsettled at the back. Sheffield will see us as a benchmark as to their own progress so if they were to need extra motivation that could be it.
So we’ll lose then? Nah, 2-1 to us.
Just bumped into this FC Porto player at the airport on our way home, they were flying out to Madeira for a game.
He said,”he would love to play for Wolves right now”
Blimey. He’s getting on a bit to be playing for Porto.
Oh no. Sorry Stu. That’s you.
Either he’s a very big lad or you’ve shrunk Stu.
Who is he and what position does he play?
Which one is the Porto player..?
Are the two chaps standing in an ice rink?
Stu, y am ya standing on the equator?
PS r u sure he plays for Porto?? As he looks like my nieces partner….
Play like we did the first half at The quarry and I can see us running wild ! Bennett in Saiss please Dr Nuno and don’t even think of moving down south !
Pundits have us down to win this one and I agree
COYW
Jota to score – if I keep saying it perhaps he will – may even get 2
Thought Nuno taking off Traore was the turning point against Braga, gave them impetus
Wolves to win 2-1 or a 1-1 draw…decisions, decisions.
Ours for the taking
It’s kilman all day long for me . I agree with you Thomas that Valero can’t be a bad player but if you are going to suffer nerves don’t do it in a wolves shirt at home to Chelsea
I also agree with fuck the arsenal !
It’s got a draw written all over it, however, I’m in the frame of mind that we can win anything at the moment. I guess we’ll have to come back down to earth at some point, but why should this great ride that we are on stop yet.
Another 3 points to further cement our position in the top half.
I think Sheff U will catch us in our fatigue and the nuno nonsense. I predict an upset but hope I am wrong
I thought Bennett didn’t travel to Portugal because his leg was still having problems.
I’m assuming he won’t be ready for Sunday.
I have some fond memories of games against Sheffield United. I was at the game in 1995 that Bedders mentioned with a Blades fan who was well peeved. I was at their ground for a Zenith Data Systems cup game – what a name for a competition , I was there in League One with Sue who, after seeing games at Molineux commented on what a s**t ground it was (still is). Then there was the play-off final when I said to my late father at halftime “we are not going to lose now are we dad ?”. To which he replied “well, it IS Wolves son”. Haven’t got a single prediction right this season so I will go for a narrow Wolves win and hope for the best. All credit to you bloggers who made the trip to Portugal, hope you had a fab time and got home safely. As for Nuno, you are a legend already. Stay at our fabulous football club and you will have a statue and a stand named after you. I just forget who had the catchphrase “I’ve started so I’ll finish” but do it Nuno – make all our dreams come true because we love you.
Newark, I think it was Ron Jeremy
“I’ve started so I’ll finish”
I think that was either Magnus Magnusson on Mastermind or Diogo Jota when he began his run that left Luke Shaw on his backside the night that we knocked Man United out of the FA Cup.
Naw it was the bloke in front of me in the toilet at Braga, took a feckin age to finish. Prostate i’d say…
We’re home 23:45 Saturday, bring on the blades.
I think this could be a really difficult game if we are a little off our best. They are the best I’ve ever seen at pressure closing down high up the pitch. Another worry I have is that, due to our number of games, we tire for the last fifteen to twenty minutes. They, with fewer games, work hard to the last minute. I would, for the sake of balance, play Kilman, but I expect Nuno to pick Bennett: a safe option I suppose. I can never bet against this team and will go for a win.
It’s the Max Factor for me, Kilman.
As of this evening we are in 6th place behind Spurs. A win against the Blades will lift us back into 5th place, only four points off the top four.
There could be goals galore here as the teams are quite similar. Chris Wilder has done a magnificent job to bring his team up from League One to their rightful place in the PL. Respect. Go on Arsenal, he’s your man.
OK, we will be tired and they have had the week off but I reckon we will consign the Blades to a first away defeat.
Some great games over the years against the blades and with them having a very decent manager that doesn’t compromise his style and is obviously able to get the best out of his players, this could be tight.
Jota time!
To all the 6000 Wolves fans who travelled to Braga, Portugal in the worst weather Iv’e witnessed in 53 years as a fan.
You will know exactly what I mean, when I say, “hat’s off to these Wolves Disabled supporters”, who were in the lower tier, at the front by the pitch, in the elements, after being wheeled down that horrendous hill to the ground and then pushed back up afterwards.
Just like us, they were also pushed through the muddy field, had to endure being made to wait in the rain and had to be forcibly pushed through the turnstile barriers like cattle.
I saw Steve and his dad having to run the gauntlet with all other fans and be rescued and pushed through by attending Wolves officials.
Disgraceful treatment of our disabled and ambulant fans, just disgraceful.
Shame on you Braga Police and club officials. Shame on you.
Third World Country conditions and standards at best.
Well done you 2 Wolves disabled supporters, true fans in every sense of the word, credit to Steve Green and his dad, and Kevin Ward and his brother, (apologies, I don’t recognise the third guy).
Come on Wolves, recognise this huge effort from the 2 guys in wheelchairs, provide them a free long Wolves (waterproof winter jacket) for their Herculean efforts in supporting Wolves under those conditions.
Unbeaten runs always end sometime and we are due a “flat” performance where things just don’t go right for us
Tight game against a well organised Blades with an excellent manager and tired legs after that pudding of a pitch at Braga. The strength of the Wolf is the pack. UTW!
Big Statement today,on the pitch where we let the football do the talking.
Whitherspoons for breakfast, ten thirty promt. Going to be a fantastic day.
This game could be pivotal in deciding our direction of travel this sea and beyond.
Hate it that the arrogant presumption of Arsenal have let a shadow fall across us.These so called bigger clubs seriously get me going. Some idiot Man U supporter on 606 last night calling for them to buy Neves. They still don’t understand that this Wolves only sell players when it suits us. Nor will we allow, arguably the best manager we’ve ever had, to answer the siren calls of a dysfunctional one-time successful club. Not that anybody as smart and honourable as Nuno will abandon a project like Wolves.
I therefore expect the players to respond in a positive manner to make that clear and the twelfth man to lift them home.
Oh yes, my prediction – we’ll win obviously.
Yes HW. I find them quite annoying too.
Concerned about this one, thought they played well against Man Utd last week.
Kilman please if Bennett not fit.
If Nuno tells them in the dressing room he’ll stay if they win today, and they start like they did last week, then its a no brainer
It’s amazing what you see running past your hotel window on a Sunday morning!
There seems to be some apprehensive reviews about this one, I can understand why!
Going to be a very hard game, hope we have the stamina to compete for 90 minutes
after Thursdays exploits, got to put our chances away.
Another draw methinks 2-2
The blades are all about creating numerical overloads in wide areas. That’s what their overlapping centre halves Thing is all about. They will look to drag Doc/Jonny out of the action so they Can get a clear run at our back three.
That suggests that to get a clean sheet Coady needs to be at his best, marshalling the rest of the back five and being solid at marking, tackling and in the air.
Then we need to be pacy on the break – that I’m less worried about!
Up the wolves!
Got to admit there are at least 15 Prem teams i would rather be playing today than Sheff Utd. Some great memories of past Blades games, obviously including the play-off final. But my personal favourite is a wet miserable Sheffield night in the 96/97 season. Took my two sons the youngest of which was just getting old enough to pick up the Wolves bug. The look on his face when Sheff equalised with eight minutes to go was heatbreaking. But then with seconds remaining a Bully rocket wins the game. A moment shared that is absolutely priceless.
On a related football topic, if you haven’t seen it i would strongly recommend a viewing of ‘Brothers in Football’. You can currently find it on ITV player. It’s the magnificent story of Corinthians – now Corinthian Casuals who play in the Isthmian League. Always amateur in status this team once formed the full England team, were major players in introducing football to Brazil. Helped form the Brazilian Corinthian team and influenced Real Madrid to play in all white. They lost more players in the First World War than any other English club. Their status in Brazil is incredible, you could not make this up and it’s a story that should never be forgotten. I think Nuno is a Corinthian as well as a wolf.
Nothing to add to what’s been already said. A bit worried about this one.
Almost forgot my prediction.
Tough game expected but should win.
On a different note my heart goes out to Benik Afobe & his family. As Wolves have said, the Wolves family is with you. Very sad news.
Why do so many other teams insist on fouling Traore and Jota? Are they that much better than all of the other players in the league or what?
Only way they can stop them, just like to day.
Draw was fair. Blades were a good outfit and Rui had to make some good saves. We had a few chances as well. Nuno on the pitch after waving to the fans. He ay going nowhere.
