There were just the 16 goals in the two matches between Wolves and Rotherham last year.

10 of which came in arguably the most extraordinary game Molineux has ever witnessed.
But the chances of history repeating itself this season appear slim.
Both clubs have found goals hard to come by in the Championship and with both needing the points for different reasons, it promises to be another cagey afternoon.
We hope for better of course.
Rotherham
The turnover of players at The New York Stadium has been incredible this season.
14 new faces have arrived and 17 players have left as Steve Evans attempts to establish the Millers in the second tier.
I was staggered to see some of the names being ejected, not least Kieran Agard who ended up at Bristol City. He would have been an excellent addition for Wolves I thought.
They’re 20th in the table coming into this game and just four points outside the relegation places. I thought they’d do better than that.
Away form has been a major issue and they’ve won just twice on the road all season. That said, they’ll be buoyed by the fact that they (somehow) emerged victorious from the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign.
Wolves
A string of wins is needed if Wolves are to have any chance of reigniting a play-off push. Back to back home games against Rotherham and Fulham represents a good opportunity to kick things off.

I’ve got no idea what sort of eleven Kenny Jackett will send out tomorrow, but there will likely be changes after the disappointing show at Carrow Road.
We could really do with a performance from Bakary Sako. But the team need to do a better job of getting the ball into his feet in decent areas.
Far too many times of late he’s had to drop back into his own half to get possession and that’s not where he’s at his most effective.
The gaffer
Predictions
The home form has been disappointing for a long time now so I’m hoping Wolves can finally get it right.
We seem to start well and then splutter out at Molineux so the second half performance will really be under scrutiny tomorrow.
Rotherham have picked up some useful results of late and should have beaten Derby in midweek.
But I think Wolves will just about get the job done.
3-1
Up The Wolves.

Thomas, two teams with a desire to do well this week but as you say for different reasons. I watched Conor Hunte play on Tuesday in a freindly against Telford and the lad was something special, Kenny had him taken off in the second half after he had scored a James Henry (Millwall away) type of goal direct from the corner. I have a feeling we may see him get a run out at some point on Saturday and possibly Iorfa keep his place in place of Doherty, (no reason to rush him back) oh yes, please Kenny try Golbourne in place of Price, or even dare I say it, MacDonald.
COYW
🙂
This ones got draw written all over it certainly not going to be the high scoring game like last year, times have changed they are fighting for there lives and we,re well we’re fighting for consistency and oh yeah the play offs.
Anything less than 2 home wins ie Rotherham and Fulham and we can kiss the play offs goodbye it might be mathematically posible but I don’t think this sqaud will have the confidence and the stomach to deliver not that M and M will be bothered if there actions are anything to go buy promotions not on the agenda not now or in the foreseeable future.
Please, please, please, please, please, give us a performance and a win tomorrow lads.
Please Mr McDonald start playing like you were last season when I likened you to Beckenbauer.
Please Mr Sako get your ‘you can’t get the ball off me and I’m going to score a screamer’ head on.
Please Mr La Parra learn to run a direct line and cross the ball.
Please Mr Dicko and Mr Afobe fill your boots.
Pretty please?
More in hope than expectation.
We seem to be too up and down to mount a convincing bid for a promotion place, but hopefully these are the games we definitely can pick up points from. I’m backing Dicko and Afobe to take their chances, but I just they’re given plenty of chances to take.
Can’t see it as a high scoring game tomorrow. I look forward to seeing Steve Evans .. he was so gracious in defeat last year .. i’m hoping he’ll be doing some of the same at 4:55 tomorrow.
Come on the Wolves. A well needEd required
Definitely blowing hot and cold at the moment and I think we’re due a little warmth. I’m gonna miss the next few games ’cause I’m off for some winter sun so maybe that’ll bring ’em some luck.
Fingers crossed for a convincing win.
Hope you both enjoy your holiday. If you want to predict while your away ..put them in a reply …
This will be proved wrong if they score first as we can’t seem to mount any sort of comeback this season.
Agreed Woody, more in hope than expectation, but just wish I didn’t feel so negative at the moment.
COYW!
Not sure we have the ambition to reach the play offs.
The midfield is weak.
One can pray McDonald turns in a brilliant performance.
He won’t, on the evidence seen this season…
Please prove me wrong Wolves….
Ever the contrarian, I fancy us to turn our form round and give Rotherham a good pasting. I’m also looking forward to seeing Conor Hunte have a game as our blogging U21 scout rates him so highly.
You better believe it, he’s a breath of fresh air in the stale Wolves performances of late. Give him a go Kenny.
🙂
I think we’ll get the result we all want tomorrow, if not the performance. Although points make prizes, it’s performances that provide the hope and aspiration.
Once again, we are up against a team who struggle away from home, and we are likely to help them end their struggles.
Last season I made a change in my usual, boring prediction and forecast us to score 6.
I was right.
The fact that they were not supposed to get 4 is immaterial!
This season I don’t feel so confident, so only a 5 – 1 thumping tomorrow.
Y’all will be pleased to know that Houston Lobo and family from Sedgley are visiting the CFH Estate this weekend, and it will be great to have a dose of Black Country Speak!

That’s bostin for all of ya ….
A Pressure game obviously…I agree that our hope to keep in touch possibly lies on this and the Fulham game ..
.
KJ must have a diff decision to make ..do we attack full on and not have to defend so much or do we play it safe untill the second half and go forward on the break..
I theory it might come down to taking our chances and more so if we make enough of them..
I still look forward to seeing K Mac play and equally am perplexed why he looses his game.. he could be decisive here…
DB looks currently dodgy to me so I hope we don’t give it away at the back..
Sako must be due a goal so let’s keep our fingers crossed …we must bury the opposition in our remaining home games…
COYW
Investment, no investment or just a little investment i will take us to beat Rotherham at home.
I’m guaranteeing that we won’t win 2-1 by predicting that we will win 2-1.
In Afobe, Dicko, Sako and RVLP we have four forwards who, on their day, would cause most back lines a headache. Let’s hope at least one of them has such a day tomorrow.
At the other end we’ve not been as resolute as we were last season, but we’ve been playing better opponents and KJ has been tinkering with the line up fairly regularly. Since the 2 big lads have come in at FB we’ve looked less porous, hopefully we’ll see a continuation of this trend too.
I’ll be in London tomorrow with work, but will keep an eye on how we progress. If you’re going please shout yourself hoarse in support of our boys.
UTW
Goodbye Hoarse, goodbye hoarse, he was saying goodbye to his hoarse…..
Is that the one?
For once I’ll agree with Thomas’s prediction – I see goals here and lets face it we have to do that much better than the Norwich match if we are to have a hope of reaching the paly-offs.
anything less than a win just won’t be acceptable, regardless of the tough league/no easy matches argument. It’s this type of game that could springboard or torpedo the remainder of the season. has to go with form; so definitely: must win
It’s interesting that Rotherham are a team whose philosophy on gaining promotion was diametrically opposed to ours.
They went all out to recruit new players for the higher division – we stayed pretty much with the squad who got us up.
On that basis it seems that Fatman and Robin have got the right idea.
I just knew all along that Steve Morgan was a forward thinking owner and Jez Moxey was a top C.E.O!
You can make up your own words you think the initials stand for.
I bet Clive can come up with at least one!
Coconut……..
Close……………..
Nice home win please to put a smile on my face.
UTW
Sako and Afobe to net the goals.
For the prediction ranking I guessed the result of the Huddersfield game correctly and have still yet to receive the 2 points from it. Sorry for bugging you guys about it again.
COYW
An exceptional football week for me. Had the pleasure of a bitterly cold John Smiths stadium to see an amazing four goal victory – was it only last week?. Wasn`t that easy though, but it shows what we can do with our pace on the break given space.
Last Sunday thanks to my wonderful better half, we watched Barcelona destroy Levante at the Camp Nou. Interesting lesson in how to beat a team parked in depth. Well Neymar the Brazilian right footed striker stayed on the left touchline all game, never straying offside, and always there for the wide pass, and to take on the fullback.
Messi who scored a sublime hat trick, worked mainly on the right side, cutting in to work his left foot magic, a lesson for Sako perhaps. Then Suarez on as a substitute, scores a truly wonderful overhead kick sending a left wing cross back passed the keeper in to the far corner where the cross came from. Exceptional play from exceptional players, all working their buts off to make space and to pass and move. Don`t expect the same quality of play tomorrow somehow!!
I see even the wba owner says he would sell to a new investor, not a new owner, a new investor, football needs continual investment on the pitch otherwise you get stagnation or standing still or worse. N`est ce pas Mr Morgan and co.
No mugs the opposition, who are at least endeavouring to improve their side, one way or another. We should be too good for them, but it won`t be easy, and while I`m sure the game won`t hit the dizzy goal scoring exploits of my two previous games, we need a win and as all wolves fans become eternal optimists around 3pm on a Saturday, this game will be a good measure of where we are, and our real ambition this season, or not.
About time for a win. Come on lads!
1-0 ANIHILATION
They’re a poor side and we are mediocre, flat track bullies.
The ideal opportunity to improve GD.
Squeeze thru anyway we can.
Just got this mad feeling that we will win this one 6-4. Oh hang on a minute I have unfotunately put my time machine in reverse and it is April 2014. Bollocks.
let’s have em
come on me babbies
I hope for a better performance than we mustered at the canary’s.
Still think KJ not playing his best side,I would still give Golbourne a start and lorfa, and if it doesn’t work then change it..
No change in personnel I see, what’s the hold up,must be money, the 2Ms are quite content with where we are me thinks.
2 home games on the trot now, gotta get max points if we aspire for the play-offs.
Hope for some movement in the loan market next week, please a striker and midfield shorter.UTW.Fickle fan.
Is Sako not playing so well since Golbourne’s not been in the team ?
I think we’ll win this one anyway.
I hope I’m wrong but these are the type of teams we always seem to disappoint against.
I am a total fan of KJ and think our progression this year has been as good as we could expect after the depths we managed to plumb.
The play-offs would be great but not the end of the world if we fall short.
Could do with a performance which shows what we are capable of
UTW
We will win this one to keep playoff hopes viable … much more cruel to quash those hopes in the last few weeks / minutes of the season.
god I hope I’m wrong.
Looking forward to Clive of Houston’s hospitality on Sunday, and the opportunity to celebrate 3 points with fellow Wolves seems my parents have flown in.
My soon-to-be one year old daughter is particularly looking forward to meeting Santa Clive, now that he’s out of his busy season and has some time to relax… ;o)
Seems that I never do this Prediction League, feel free to disregard my guess…
Houston Lobo,
One time Honoured tradition (started back in the Park View last year actually) on meeting Clive you must give him a clip round the ear from Brompton Wolf please.
🙂
hope I’m wrong.
I think this could be the game that sinks any lingering thoughts of the play-offs.I really would like to be wrong. I just have the feeling that nice Steve Evans could be taking the points back to New York.
Got to get back to wining ways so going for a 2-0 win sako to score COYW
Simply must win.
10 goals last year both teams struggling for goals this year got 0 0 written all over it
We’ve really got to win this and I think we will………just.
I spun a coin to decide between 3-0 and 0-0 …. in other words I don’t have a clue because I don’t know which team – the good or the feeble – will turn out for us tomorrow.
It no longer matters, the 6 spots have been decided and we’ll be battling Brentford for 7th & 8th place. It’s what the management wanted and Jackett’s tinkering has ensured he keeps to the orders from above. Wins against Rotherham & Fulham may happen but we’ll get stuffed by Derby, Bournemouth, Middlesboro’ and Ipswich to ensure we stay in the Chumpionshit for another season. Very disappointed at the lack of ambition but I’ll still be there and am renewing my season ticket because fundamentally I love the Wolves.
Unfortunately I have to reluctantly agree, despite my usual upbeat predictions.
If I was living over there, I too would renew my season ticket every year, coz I’m Wolves through and through.
However, we are the few, the lucky few.
Who would want to watch a team that never loses, buys whomsoever it wants, and plays in the Champions league year after nauseous year.
Not me!
No, rather the fickle hand of fate that made my mother go to New Cross Hospital a hundred years ago to give birth to moi, when she could have gone to sandwell, or Birmingham.
So, bollocks to all those Premier top team’s “fans”, who change allegiance at the drop of a prawn sammitch, they aint worth monkey spit, we will soldier on as real fans and take what success we can.
Much more fun bitchin’ and moanin’ anyrode, aye it??
FOwb
I renewed my Wolves season ticket on Wednesday on the early bird scheme, fecking Danny Bhatt only goes and phones me up to thank me, Gobsmacked or what, well chuffed. I told him he should be replaced by Golbourne at the moment and he was ok with that. I don’t expect it will happen but hey ho.
Then on Tuesday I was in Tettenhall having a cakey thing with my 5 year old Grandson who had come from Footy training and was wearing his Wolves kit. James Henry pulls up in his car to do a spot of shopping so I knocked on the window and pointed to the little un and he gave my Grandson a great big thumbs up and made his day, Henry was beaming from ear to ear, he loved it. So I nodded my appreciation to him and he went completely the wrong way.
🙂
It’s true about Danny calling me and seeing Henry, they say it comes in threes so maybe I will get my 1-0 win.
Obviously a wrong number
True what you say about fans of the ‘top’ clubs Clive. They’ll never know the real joy of football ’cause they have enough of the hard times.
Please insert ‘don’t’ between they and have in the comment above. Duh!!!
jeez, lets just take it a game at a time
All the moaning negative rubbish talk on the ‘other site’ almost got me thinking the season was over. I’m sure Kenny will have the players up for this.
A struggle I think !!
An easy(ish) home win says my crystal balls
I’m sure we will not make it easy but we really should be able to win games like this if we hope have any play off hopes.
We don’t seem to have an effective game-plan at home.
We need much more positivity from midfield. More pace and urgency so that we can create more chances for the forwards.
Great forwards now, but few goals.
Time for change here Wolves!!!
The score will belie how tight a game it will be – and after scraping it, we’ll hear ‘there’s no easy games in this league’ drivel!
I think wolves will win one nil . Are you blogsters having a pint tomorrow ?
Looking forward to a strong home performance to kick off another mini run.
UTW
Going by the last six games both teams are equal on form, so should be a draw.
But wolves need wins if they are going to make the play offs.
KJ wants them to treat the next five games as a mini season, so five wins would get them in for sure.
Call me a fool and i wouldn’t argue, but something like that is needed for sure.
hard to get too excited after abject showing at Norwich
But we’re due another 3 pts … Somehow
Don’t panic, the season’s not over yet.
Rotherham 1 Wolves 0. Derby 5 Wolves 0. Rotherham 3 Wolves 3. Rotherham poor away from home. Wolves like helping teams come out of the doldrums. There’s a mathematical equation in all of that I don’t like much! So ***k mathematics. But probably still just a draw. And possibly even a turgid one. But not Euclidean. Well it is late on Friday (or early on Saturday) after a visit to a bloody good Italian wine bar in London.
Errrr…..Rotherham 3 Derby 3 that should read!
On the pessimistic/ realistic side.
No idea going for my default
A struggle, but we should come out on top.
Wolves must be the most difficult team to predict. For a short while I was at the top of the prediction league, then Wolves started doing own thing. Now I have no idea where to go. Let’s try again for a win – why not? 2-0 for me.
We need a convincing win but can’t see it happening at the moment. Hopefully 3 points though.
Thomas, I won’t be able to predict on Tuesday so can I do it now please.
Wolves 1-1 Fulham
Tablets playing up, hopefully I haven’t posted this 3 times!
Today, I am being unfaithful to the boys in old gold.
The PMDG’er is taking me to Twerton Park to watch her (second I hope) favourite team, Bath City attempt to win through to the final of the FA Trophy.
They have done really well getting this far, beating higher placed opposition nearly every round.
We’ll have to get there early because a bumper crowd is expected. Could be as many as 1,500.
I’ll see if I can pick up a few tips on battling it out against the odds.
I am on a scouting mission, there are a couple of decent youngsters down here – ‘Ones for the future’.
I’ll put my expenses in to JM when I get back.
What I’m really doing of course is hedging my bets.
If all else fails, it’s another chance of getting to Wembley this season.
I dont think we’ll roll rotherham over at all. We do however need a win so i’ll back the lads at home to get one. Any points dropped today is very bad news
Somehow can’t see a result anywhere near last season’s 10 goal belter, or for that matter a game of such intensity.
A cagey, close, home win for me.
a win, any win will do 🙂
Hoping Watford can do us a favour too.
And I’ve heard that Yanis Varoufakis is to join the Wolves board
Well Danny, with a name like that he sounds like a Greek banker to me. That would be about right for the M&M twins.
🙂
Can’t see Morgan helping with any bailouts Danny .. he’s too tight to use his own money …
Going against my usual predictions of a draw or 1-0 victory and hoping that the Wolves team that can play any team off the park turns up.
COYW
Can’t seem to get a prediction right at the moment so going out on a limb for a good performance and a well deserved win that pushes the side forward for the last few games. I for one would like to have another season in the Championship where our young team can further mature before pushing for a Champion’s League spot in 2017. You gotta have a dream!
I think we’ll nick this one.
As much as I would like to see us take revenge for our thouroughly undeserved defeat earlier in the season I suspect this one may end up a draw in light of our current patchy form. Hoping to be proved wrong!
Come on me babbies!
Showing some fight today
Should win this one. Right? 🙂
Back to normal and a deserved win
Let one in for Clive FH!
Five for Clive
Five for Clive
Yipee kai aye, mofo’s!!!
I blame Kuszczak as he made some fine saves… Replace him for the next game and let Clive get his prediction! Kuszczakakazsazak out! 🙂
Will we ever see a 5-1 again ? Clive’s Curse ?
Here’s a stat to mull over…
Prior to Afobe we’d hit 26 goals in 25 games… scraping “just” over 1 goal per game.
As it stands we have hit 14 goals in the last 7 games.
One eye on Fulham…
With the comfortable lead, taking off the front 2 was a masterstroke…
I bet Afobe would have wanted his hatrick, but tough… Fulham (in KJ’s mind) was the next important game.
5 games in 15 days… Good call Kenny… keep em fresh!
The top has condensed again with 2 of the top 3 losing, but we’re still 5 points adrift as those directly above us had good (or bad results depending which camp you are in).
Here’s hoping the Fulham game closes the gap to 2 points!
Well MacDonald got his shit together and look at the result, some amazing vision and splitting passes from him.
Still a scrappy game without finesse but,
Five for Clive and we’re having a laugh.
Five for Clive and we’re having a laugh.
Doyle got an amazing reception, good for the true Wolves fans, showed their class.
🙂
KJ’s after match report has to fill you with confidence…
We’d just won 5-0 and he’s talking about how we need to improve as we were too open.
Well keep improving…. We want a 1 goal extra advantage every game starting against Fulham. I’ll be reasonably happy with 20-0 by the last game of the season (at least we might catch up with some of the others on goal difference!)
Right, Let’s start a campaign after yesterdays pleasing Clive game may I suggest……..
Six for Twix
Six for Twix
COMB’s
:-)))) :-)))) :-))))
Two for Stu….!
But why do I get lose for Shrews?
Lots of 5 goal thrillers for Wolves Fulham never a six, so time to put that right. Wolves 6-0
Then on to Cardiff we beat them 7-1 on a Tuesday night at the Mol in 1966, God how I remember that game from the North Bank so 7-0 keeping the clean sheet.
Tuesday at Bournemouth, if there’s one team I want to spank because of those two red cards it’s Bournemouth. So an 8-0 there would be just Dandy.
Goals for………Sorted Stuey style.
Ok peeps
🙂
