As summers in the ever turbulent, never boring universe of Wolverhampton Wanderers go, this has been the quietest in recent history.

Too quiet for those with one nervous eye on the arrival gate, with Kenny so far only adding a pair of free transfers to his League One conquerors, one of whom has already absconded to the treatment table.
But panic we should not.
Last season’s triumph was built on the strength and cohesion of the team, not the brilliance of an individual. That team is very much intact and a capable challenger to the 23 opponents that await.
Consistent home form will be crucial and heading back to the Championship Wolves are yet to lose a league game at Molineux in 2014. This will of course be the sternest examination of that proud record.
Norwich City
Summers are seldom lazy when you drop out of the greed league and the Canaries haven’t bucked the trend.
High profile departures have thus far been kept to a minimum though, with only Snodgrass and van Wolfswinkel jumping ship. Others including Fer, Tettey and Hooper have reportedly attracted interest.
Sacking Chris Hughton last term and replacing him with a rookie in Neil Adams was a maverick move, particularly so late in the season. After failing to save their Premier League bacon, he’ll be under the spotlight from minute one and expected to deliver.
There’s no reason he shouldn’t either. He has some handy players throughout the team, many of whom are well versed in the rigours of England’s second tier.
That said, keeping the squad united and managing all the ins and outs that are bound to occur before the end of August will be a significant challenge, as we know ourselves from bitter recent experience.
Away form cost them dearly last season with just two wins (and a painful 14 defeats) to show for their exertions, so they’ll want to make positive inroads from the very start this time.
Wolves
I’m excited that the team likely to start on Sunday will mirror the eleven that finished against Carlisle in May. I said back then I thought they could challenge anyone in the Championship and I’m hoping to be proved correct.

Should that be the starting lineup, Leon Clarke will consider himself unlucky to miss out after a prolific pre-season. But I still think Dicko has the shirt. Dave Edwards would be another strong contender, but I think Kenny will opt for the balance of Henry and Sako (if fit) out wide with Jacobs in the pocket.
Lee Evans looks to have won the battle to partner McDonald in the middle, but Price and Rowe will be snapping at his heels in the weeks to come. I expect the latter to become a regular, but the competition will be interesting.
Overall, I still think Kenny is a player light at both ends of the pitch (a forward and a defender) but has interesting options and decent variation, particularly in midfield. He showed himself to be a strong tactician last season so with greater resources, it’s exciting to think what could be achieved.

Predictions

Given that the blog was fairly light on updates over the summer, you might have thought I was sunning it up abroad somewhere exotic. I was actually, but not the whole time.
No, I spent a good chunk of my holiday figuring out how to improve the Prediction League and with help from regular contributor Mike (aka Twixfix), I think I’ve been successful.
Most excitingly (for me anyway) the whole system is now automated. Just enter your score as instructed in the comment box below and everything else takes care of itself.
This season, it’s 2 points for predicting the correct outcome and 3 points for predicting the outcome with the correct score. With more points on offer, it should make the competition more compelling and the table more interesting.
Additionally, the number of predictions made by each person is being counted, so if players are locked on the same score, the pundit who has achieved the score with the fewer predictions will be higher.
So there you have it guys, enjoy. Hopefully we can entice more people than ever to take part and it can continue to be a great mechanism for getting everyone talking.
As for my prediction, I’m playing it cagey and going for a score draw.
2-2.
Up The Wolves!

Just entering my score into the system so my points are also calculated automatically. Nobody can accuse me of cheating this year, so I’ll actually try properly for a change… 🙂
can you predict the score on a phone as ive tried twice after commenting and it isnt posting them. Congrats on having a great site by the way.
Sorry mate, having an issue with the mobile site, but will hopefully be resolved today. Unfortunately with a new bit of software, you’re always going to get bugs in the system. If you can’t get to a computer and want to email me your prediction I can enter it on your behalf (tom@thomasbaughmedia.com) – same goes for anyone having problems early doors.
The mobile issue should now be fixed mate and hopefully that’s the last of any of the bugs.
Tough start but the 2014 unbeaten home record remains intact with a comeback point.
Going to be optimistic and say 2-1. If we can get them on the back foot I think we will cause them problems. They are an open team and the fact that Surman willl probably play for them shows they aren’t great all over.
Hopefully we can carry forward the momentum from the second half of last season, that will give us a good base to start from and opportunity for the younger players to breathe and perform without too much pressure
Id like to add my joy that the prediction league has been automated. I was cruelly robbed of at least three points last year due to miscalculations. I could have been as high as 33rd in the table but i was the victim of illegitimate actions.
( that’s the best Neil Warnock after Sheffield got relegated from the Prem and tried to sue West Ham impression i can do )
Getting off on the right foot – and looking forward to an occasional viewing of the Wolves on BeinSports over here in the states!
This will be a real benchmark as to how difficult (or comfortable) our season might be. Although relegated from the prem Norwich’ s squad is very strong and boasts a lot of quality from back to front. Ruddy,Martin,Hoolahan,Grabban and Fer to name a few. Apologies but I think they’ll just get the better if us this time. (Thanks for your kind words Thomas)
Thanks for helping him with the site mate! Hope you’re better at that than you are at predicting results anyway!!
If my predictions match up with my XL skills then look out everyblogger!!!
Unfortunately they wont but hey-ho as long as we get promoted…
Nice to hear from you .. see you soon …
Canaries get thrashed, all over in the first 30 mins.
Norwich couldn`t score away from home last year and with our mean defence we could win this one. Be a fantatic achievement but in Kenny we trust.
I don’t like predicting the score, some psychobabble going on inside my brain, so I’ll pick a score I don’t think it’ll be
Both teams in new surroundings and would like to think our momentum and continuity will ace their relegation shock. But equally it’s first game shadow boxing, hence the stalemate prediction.
A steady start to the season. Optimistic on the whole.
Start strong Wolves
Im pretty optimistic this season im hoping for the play offs where anything can happen so im going for a wolves full of confidence to win.
Difficult game to start with. Think we’ll both score in first half with Wolves snatching a late winner. UTW
Oh ……and for anyone living in Hongkong or travelling through, the match is being shown live in Bar 109, Lockhart Rd, Wanchai.
I’d see you there if I hadn’t already made other arrangements.
Well if u or orther Wolves fans are meeting up elsewhere to watch the match let me know where n I’ll be there.
Leone Clarke will grab the late winner!
Here’s hoping for successive promotions………..
Premiership hangover
I really don’t need to put a score up there, do I?
Y’all know what I’m going for!!
We didn’t win by this score all season, but came close, sort of, against Rotherham, where I correctly predicted we would score 6.
The Rotherham score was a typo!
Nice to see lots of bloggers back predicting, a warm Texas welcome to y’all.
Roll on Sunday, I’m gonna try to find that website, beinsports.
And for those who missed it recently, now footie is upon us,
Fuck Off w.b.
Been reading your American Odyssey blog and looking at the pics of the RV.
It was just a ruse to cover your blue meth cooking wasn’t it?
We’ve all seen Breaking Bad!
Argh!!
Rumbled at last!
Hoping the canaries have a relagation hangover…and our astute manager guides is through this first test on our return to the championship!
Come on me babies!!!!
one point is fine for now
Yep, that’s right, it’s gonna be another one of those!!
Hoping to watch from a pub in Perth. Anyone around or know if it will be on Setanta?
Yep, Its on Setanta – but delayed a bit (2.30am Melbourne time)
I will say we will just sneek in the play offs, starting the season with a bang.
Hope I’m wrong
Really glad you won’t have that tedious job every week anymore Thomas.
It wil be interesting to see how much difference the better quality of finishing at this level will make. But I’m hoping we’ll be tight enough at the back.
Hi all,
First time posting, long time reading.
Both teams want the win, so of course it will be a draw.
Oh and great blog Thomas!
Welcome to the mad house!
Here we go again.
Really looking forward to the game. Intrigued to see how Kenny’s men stand up to a stern test.
Having a unbeaten pre-season has to count for something… whoever we played. Confidence, Spirit and Hunger is all still there. I’m a bit worried about Stearman’s solidity in the Championship but we’ll still do fine. Off to a winning start.
UTW
A real baptism of fire for both teams.
Neither coach would have seen this as the ideal first fixture.
But you’ve got to back Kenny’s boys, haven’t you.
Gut feeling is a cagey game but with a late winner following some smart KJ subs
Very excited for the new season. Happy with a 1:1 draw
wolves to get off to a winning start
Having followed this blog for two seasons have decided to become active.
Hopefully Clive will be correct more times this season, in Kenny we trust
Well done on finding your voice mate! Keep it up!!
Peace has returned to the household ! The outlook is rosy. Wolves to win, win, win.
Realistically Norwich will be one of the strongest teams we face this season and I’d be happy with a draw to get us going
INMHO Norwich will be the strongest side we face in this division. They were unlucky to be relegated. A draw would be a great start for us. If I’m wrong about the result, I fear it may be 1-2.
Lets start off with an exciting win!
A solid defensive performance with a Dicko goal just before half time will do nicely.
here’s my prediction to follow my comment. technology… grrr
Happy new season everyone .
Looking forward to watching on Setanta from Sydney.
Go Wolves !!!!!
Gonna be a great day for those who go, should be a great atmosphere.
Let’s hope the boys get a win and make a statement of intent to the rest of the league
Jeez, anyone would think you have missed the football and Wolves winning over the last few months, never seen so many comments on a preview on a Friday morning.
I think any regulars could do Clive of Houstons predictions 5-1 Wolves. I think we all wish we could produce those results week in week out, along with the associated performances.
Back to reality.
Early doors last season we were second best in most games but somehow or other got a draw or a victory when our display didn’t deserve it, come the end of the season we had long since stopped looking down and were eagerly awaiting the anticipation today brings and the game on Sunday.
As for that I think from all I have read, and pundits predictions this will be a great barometer of our season, as Norwich are expected to finish in the top 6. I have great hopes for Wolves this season but ultimately I think we’re missing quality in the centre of the pitch, and I agree with Thomas we are a few players light.
We’re at home the crowd will bay for blood, we’re carrying confidence and momentum and have had a good pre-season I think it will be tight and if anyone wins it will be the odd goal. But I’ve gone for a steady start and a good point against tough opposition, we’ll get into our stride in the weeks to come, and I’m hoping we will be a force in the top half of this league and have an effect on who goes up and down at the end.
Clive from Houston, please!!
Neither team will want to lose this one, both have the ability to create. If I had to pick a winner I’d say us, as we are on the up and they are not, but I think it’ll be a point a piece
UTW!
Oh, and loving the new system Thomas. Pleased for you to no longer have that headache in your life!
Anyone in Bristol up for watching the game somewhere? It’s my birthday on Sunday, but if you’ve got a Wolves top on I won’t make you buy me a pint (although if you want to that’d be fine)
Happy birthday Sleachy. Hope it’s one you will remember for a long, long time, for lots of good reasons !!!
Well it’s gonna take a miracle for me to get laid, so I’ve got all my gratification eggs in the Wolves basket. 3 points please KJ!!!
After watching your chat up with the lovely barmaid last May I reckon you’ll score for the Wolves !!!
Get your arse over to the USA, Sleech, the English accent is a guaranteed knicker dropper!
Hope ‘er indoors dont read this!!
Ohhh yes its finally here. I think a score draw is on the cards. They have a good side so it’s a tough start but a point will be a nice steady start
Well…on Sunday I embark on my first season since 1996/97 as a non-season ticket holder. It’s going to be a very funny feeling.
I think we may just be caught out on Sunday. The quality will be a lot higher and I am not convinced by Stearman in defence – I think his errors will be punished at this level.
Ex League 1 with no additions v ex premier with few desertions. Higher class will tell
I think Norwich will be one of the strongest teams this year and unluckily we have to play them before the summers sales are over while they still have some of their better players. I think they’ll have the better of us but I’m looking forward to seeing how our young and rejuvenated side adapt to the championship.
UTW
I’m going for a late Wolves equalizer to send Molineux into raptures. Glad to be part of the Prediction League again, and you’ve got an impressive system set this time. UTW!
Opening draw will do nicely
A point in front of the camera will do nicely
I suspect a draw for the first match of the season but I’ll go for the old standby scoreline of the 2-1 as it did well for me last season. Doubt I’ll finish in the top 3 this year but will do my best.
Lets start as we mean to go on.
UTW
Expecting a tough game with the Canaries.
In Kenny we trust!
UTW!
Agree, this will be one of the toughest opponents this season, but it’s Derby I’d tip for top spot. If we can follow them in 2nd, great, but right now I think we’ll finish 7th.
I’ll go for a scrappy, undeserved win, but 3 points in the bag. Smile and move on.
Not enough departures have departed Norwich yet…
Sorry but cant see us beating them. Much stronger team than us.
Having followed the Wolves for over 60 years and enjoyed reading the blog for a while I thought it time to join in and make the odd comment from time to time.
I really enjoy the banter & comments between Clive and the Doogooder to name but a couple.
I heartily agree with Clive’s cry of FOWB
Welcome to the crazy gang, young man!
Thanks Clive. It would be great to be young again
Welcome to the Blog mate. Be prepared for a bumpy ride lol.
Yes, welcome.
They say you’re only as old as the woman (or man) you feel.
Well, I agree with that.
Just don’t tell the present Mrs DG’er!
Great to finally get back into a proper league game after the dangled carrot of pre-season that never really leaves you knowing what to think. I’ll be a bit cagey with my first prediction, but if you look at the side that started last season compared with the one that ended it, I’m sure there will be a few new faces added to the squad soon – even if the need isn’t quite as dire as at the start of last season. Here’s to another corker of a campaign.
Was going to go with your score Thomas but optimism took over…
Sako and his mate Dicko will be eating those Canaries wings by half time!
Got be as positive as I possibly can, so going for a win and keeping my fingers crossed. Always nervous at this time of the year.
Hoping for a good start. I’ll settle for a 1-0 win for Wolves.
Hi Everyone, great to be back for a new season. With televised games a limited commodity in League One I was pretty quiet last season but I’m really looking forward to a) watching the match (and hopefully many more) on Setanta Australia and b) getting back involved a bit more this season.
Thanks so much to those who help make this blog work, it is really helpful as a long distance fan.
And that’s all I’m gonna say about that…
Got a good feeling that we’re gonna get off to a flyer. Can’t wait – been missing my twixfix!
Can’t wait to give you one .. and Ben
…….. and me lol
Heart says a win head says a draw. In reality anything but a loss will be a good start.
Winning start good to be back on the blog from up here
COYW !!!!!!!!!!
COME ON YOU WOLVESSSSS!!!
No idea how this one will go, so going for the cautious, nervous start from both.
Good luck Wolves!
Here’s to another good season!
GW!
Don’t mind a slow start Sunday as long as they speed it up towards the end of The season. Got a feeling were going up via the play off’s and everyone knows that’s more fun than having the title sown up in April! Can’t wait for Wembley already.
It’s so important to get off to a good start and, unfortunately, the fixture gods have not been kind to us. Wolves on TV?.. the first game of the season?.. against a relegated Prem side? I’d love to think we’ve turned a corner but football loves to set you up to knock you down and there can be no club in the world with a better track record of doing that than Wolves. To paraphrase the Kaiser Chiefs: I predict a rout.
Got to say, I think you speak for many Wolves fans. I have a dreadful feeling in my gut, but then again, I always do at this time of year.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m overflowing with admiration for what was achieved last year and I think we’ve got some really good players. It’s just that experience of following Wolves for 40 years tells me that a year of success is followed by a slap in the face. In my lifetime Wolves have been relegated 8 times and promoted 7 times. So, on average a relegation/promotion roughly every 3 years. Included in those stats are 17 fruitless years in the second flight, during which we’ve suffered play-off defeats in four seasons and finished 7th (i.e. narrowly avoided the play-offs) in four of the others (so basically spent half of our time outside the top flight threatening success but failing and half just plain failing). If that’s not the footballing equivalent of a rollercoaster I don’t know what is. I’m sure some will put me down as a typically pessimistic Wolves fan but with what we’ve lived through it’s very hard not to be. And to quote The Audience: A pessimist is never disappointed.
A draw on opening day would suit me fine and id love to see us keep our good defensive record from last season.
Can see us starting strong against these muppets.
Tough start – home advantage will pull us through!
Think confidence could be a factor here, if we score first then we may be set! My prediction is based on last season optimism though, I think a draw/Norwich win is more likely…
Late on parade…this is Dicko’s season for me he’s got 1 of my 2 ,Sako the other if he plays ..and I reckon they will score first…
I agree with twxfix this fixture is a bench mark as I personally see Cardiff Norwich Fulham as the teams (almost lol) as good as us..
I think we will win against the run of play….. but we are just warming up..
COYW
Would like to predict a win but think it will be all square.
I’m going for a Wolves win to kick off what may turn out to be a momentous season. We shall see.
I’ll take a draw. It will be a tough day with Norwich having majority of possession and, lots of near misses. Somehow, we will hold on for a draw. I feel confident.
Great to see so many comments posted. I’d love to see us win of course, but……….. I wasn’t too convinced at our pre-season performances, but I know the team will fight hard, so we’ll get a draw at least.
I reckon we’ll improve after a few matches and go on a good unbeaten run. The Celta Vigo match and the opening fixtures are just what they need to get up into top gear.
Tough start but back Jackets boys to come through.
Heart to rule head, would have loved a couple of additions but think we may have to sell a few of the group 3 players first (if that’s possible). I trust Kenny though and think we’ll be hard to beat
Love the blog! Long time reader, first time poster…
Steady start to the season I reckon.
Let’s just be patient with king Kenny
Welcome to the fold, amazing how many newbies we got this season already.
Long may it continue.
great to be back, aint going to be easy this season but lets keep behind kenny , I agree we are still a couple of players light but I’m sure that will be sorted soon.
Come on me babbies. Sako brace and the mighty wanderers are on their way 🙂
Close game, fancy Jacobs to snatch a goal
I think the class of the prem will show for norwich. Not many chances will be wasted this season and we have to learn to convert ours, of league 1 was anything to go by.
there will be less free gifts from defences here.
Sorry all but think this going to be a reality check – yellows 2 – old gold 1
I’ve been reading the blog for two years and for whatever reason never predicted a score. Have always found it informative and bizarrely feel like I know a number of you personally – which is ridiculous but a tribute to the power of the internet. Have sworn predict and comment henceforth each match… So above was my first! I’ve been following the Wolves since seeing a one- one home draw against Stoke in 1973 (or possibly ’74). Anyway Shilton was in goal gor the visitors and Molineux resounded to chants of ‘Shilton is a womble’. Happy days.
Am nervous for the season. But I guess I always am when it comes to Wolves!
Predicting a loss, but hoping for a win!
Iceni…Welcome to the blog…….Parkes,Shaw,Parkin,Bailey,Munro,McCall,Waggy,Hibbet,Richards,Dougan,Hegan?…..
Who had the largest hands in football?
Hugh Johns… (Atv lol)
Christ I’m getting old….
Parkes,Shaw,Parkin,Bailey,McCall,
Munro,Waggy,Richards,Dougan,Hibbett,Hegan?…
Solid start to a tough season – can’t see beyond a draw for this one
Cone on you wolves
Absolutely buzzing for this one! Would’ve liked to have seen another striker and an extra versatile defender, but our league one champions deserve a crack at the whip so I can’t blame KJ for focussing on keeping the same team together, given this is what won us the league last year.
The team definitely shouldn’t be fearing tough games like these as in reality, this is our hard earned reward for last season’s graft!
Going optimistic for this one and say we can keep a clean sheet, with goals for Dicko and Edwards!
COYW
This will be the first opening home match I’ll miss in along time, just hope we carry on from last season so COYW
Think Norwich might be too tough with the Premier League calibre they possess. Hope to be proved wrong, however.
Opening day v Norwich… how I wish for a fresh faced 17 yo to score 2 on debut!
I am worried that we are a bit “lightweight” against a serious, solid outfit.
Congrats Thomas on the new system – Brilliant! (assuming it all works).
I see us staring slowly then getting to grips with the season as it progresses.
So lets get this ‘unbeaten home run’ monkey off our backs early on shall we ?
I fancy a narrow win for the Wolves. Come on me babbies
A pessimistic preddo to kick off with. But I can always hope I’m wrong.
Here we go again.
One of life’s regular milestones.
I think the crowd will play a big part in this one.
We are on the up and Norwhich on the down.
I fancy us for all 3 points.
Think Norwich will be up for this one… Especially under the Sky cameras. Hope I’m wrong!
Expecting a cagy opening day battle which we’ll just squeak through. Very optimistic about the new season in general but still think we could do with another striker and centre back, hopefully Kenny will be making good use of the loan market again.
2-0 win to wolves.
I’m optimistic for the season a head, I see no reason why we can’t challenge for a play-off spot. But as of right now I’d take a top 10 finish. KJ has done a superb job so far.
Big game, former premiership club, this may be a good test to see how good we are at this level.
We need a good start we have a tough opening few games.
My head says 1-0 either way, heart says 2-0 to the boys.
Really looking forward to this season.
UTW
Hi everyone
Great to see you all back. Is DOOGooder going to regale us with tales of the nurses uniform and a pungent sort of baccy? Is Clive going to drop lucky this season with the 5 – 1? Are we going to be as optimistic as last season? Glass half full or half empty?
I’m going for a win. I’d be happy with a 1 – 1, or anything but al loss.
But no, my trusty 2 -1 to the fore again.
And as for being robbed of a higher place last season, I’m not going to go for a Neil Warnock impersonation!!
Yes, yes and yes.
Glass half full and spliff not yet half smoked.
Bring it on!
Nothing like a traditional Sunday 4 o’clock kick off to get the pulse racing. I predict Canaries in a flap as Wolves nick it.
Now we will show everyone how
good we really are. In Kenny we trust.
Looking forward to live football back again!
Off to a flyer me hopes my heads telling me a draw but im going with my head and saying 2-1 to the mighty wolves. Il be there s2 all year to show my support
Didn’t learn much from the Celta Vigo game except you have to be fit to sit at the top of the Stan Cullis stand. Even though Norwich scored 24 goals in 3 friendly games I can’t see it being a high scoring match. They have grit and guile in their midfield and experience in the back four so it will be a good test for Kenny and the team. And it’s going to be wet so if they don’t grabban early goal they wont have the last lafferty.
Hard fought first match,a good yardstick for the rest of the season.
Wolves 1
Norwich 0
COME ON YOU WOLVES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hi loz good to see you back on wolves ay we new wolf cub on the way october
After such a wonderful season last year I am asking myself if we can continue where we left off. As much as I would like to say yes this league is a different beast. We all know how competitive and cut-throat this division is, it’s the hardest league in Europe as far as I am concerned.
No massive influx of players, which is no surprise to me. The two signings we have made both have a lot of potential. If KJ is happy then so am I.
Sunday and the visit of Norwich. If teams are lucky enough to put a few points on the board early in the season that is good business. However we also know that early results can be a bit on the strange side until sides find their feet.
Norwich are a very decent side in this league and will provide a very difficult task for our boys.
However, with the euphoria from last season still pulsing through the veins of both us supporters and our players I expect Wolves to sneak a cheeky 3 points.
Wolves 2 Norwich 1
love and peace
🙂
Molineux (1) – massive crowd (1) – Sako fit (1)
3-0
I’m going for a wolves win 3. 2 I think our forwards or forward with Edwards having a free role behind the main striker have goals in them sim ally I think the defence will be a bit rusty and there for may let a couple in. My back up prediction would be 2.2 draw.
A win would be great and would settle a few nerves the first game of the season is always hard to predict they’ve come down from the Prem: so are still on a downer as we no only to well, where as wolves should still be on a high after last season. They’ve lost a couple of key players mainly Snograss but still they,ll be no push over.
I Think it will be a tight game but fancy wolves just to steal it, get off to a good start and dont look back.
COYW
Difficult to call this one …. will Norwich be able to bounce straight back after relegation or are will they be on a (probably temporary} downward phase …… will we continue the habit of winning in the higher division or are we in for a reality check. For me the winning habit can be a powerful factor – I remember an interview with Peter Broadbent on one of the video compilations where he says of the late 1950s team “We didn’t ever think we’d lose” …. they did sometimes of course but came mighty close to 3 top division championships on the trot.
So here’s to the winning habit continuing ……..
Look at the table!
We aint kicked a ball in anger and we are already up to 17th.
If we carry on like this we’ll be top by my birthday…..(Leeds away, 10.25.14)
FOwb
I will be at that match, so will remember it’s your birthday mate and will have a pie and pint on your behalf. Like the US date configuration!!! Oh by the way the seeds are sprouting!!
UTW/FOWB
Norwich has a talented squad but I think the loss of Snodgrass and the likely departures of Fer and Tettey will hurt them.
Tough game tomorrow, gonna be tight, but I do hope I’m wrong with my prediction.
With the rain coming in anything can happen,
would be great to start off back in the championshite with a win.UTW..
Confident we can keep a clean sheet
Hopefully we’ll get off to a good start and keep the confidence flowing!
So I predict a 2-2 scoreline, but hey what do I know.
This summer has really dragged on without any football, unless you call England’s performance in the world cup acceptable, god was I fantasizing about England lifting the world cup, with the teflon Blatter being forced to smile as he shook our Englands captain hand to give him the trophy. Then I woke up, with my missus shaking me asking if I wanted another cuppa. I could have killed her, another 5 mins that’s all I needed, dreams like that don’t come around very often.
Anyway back to my real love the Wolves.
I think this season we will make the play offs, that’s my prediction and I’m gonna stick with it, but I would love nothing more than be proved wrong and we finish top two.
Just to have a dig at that lot up the road, I genuinely believe that this year they will go down, here’s hoping hey.
Up the Wolves and thank God for this great blog….
Can you put me up Clive, if I get a flight?
Looking forward to another cracking season! UTW
1st game 3 points
Wolves clean sheet domination to continue with a good win in an unspectacular game.
A draw to begin with.
Looking forward to a first up win.
Looking forward to the opener.
Have a good feeling.
Spectacular amount of comments and predictions – just goes to show how mad we all are !! A huge test of our potential these first four games – particularly today versus Norwich . I’m about to set off on my four hour trip to Wolverhampton hoping the horrid weather lets me get there . Typical , all this great sunshine – then the footie starts – .
May the momentum be with us
Wolves 2
Norwich 1
Looking forward to it, for young team that hasn’t had any real strengthening as yet, I think play offs would be a fantastic achievement. As well as we did in league 1, opposition defences won’t open up as easily and opposition forwards will make more of their chances so a draw between 2 teams two divisions apart only 3 months ago will be a decent start.
Are you the Sutton wolf that posted earlier ? If not … it may help if you became Sutton wolf2 .. otherwise when the table is produced neither of you will know yr own PL position …
No, I’ve been posting on here intermittently for the last couple of seasons as suttonwolf but someone else has obviously now used the same tag. I’ll use suttoncoldfieldwolf to make it easier 🙂
That’s annoying for you mate, sorry. I’ve changed your name on comments in this thread to your new alias to avoid confusion.
Unfortunately, that’s a major drawback of not requiring people to register in order to comment – you can’t lock down an alias.
Maybe that’s something for me to look into.
No worries, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery 🙂
Really looking forward to the game today but I think it’s going to be tough. A bit nervous because my lucky charm – Em – can’t come with me today. She started coming last season and is yet to see Wolves lose! What it is to be young and innocent! I’m sitting in the same seat that I sat in for most of last season’s campaign though – does that make me sadly superstitious? Come on me babbies!!
Head says draw but desperate for more of what we saw last season so starting with a positive prediction. Rain due to clear up by 4 so let’s see those home shirts everywhere.
Hope they don’t know what hit them. Glued to my telly in South Africa later wahey!
Kept visiting the blog last season but I don’t believe I had commented nor predicted.
Being the first game I’m hoping for the three points.
Sadly it wouldn’t be on the telly here in Bulgaria, instead they’ll be showing for the first time ever, AFAIK, a game from our 3rd division – should be good for a laugh or two.
It’s here. Love the anticipation of a new season.
We definitely need to strengthen in August. Shame business not yet completed.
We usually do well against Norwich at home( different story away).
Lots to be excited about – I’m expecting a home win to start us off.
I’m going for a morale-boosting 2-0 win against the Canaries, with Clarke getting at least one. Speaking of strikers, Sky Sports is reporting that we’ve agreed a fee for Chris Wood – a good signing if it goes through.
Would love to start with a win.. But think the conditions will make it a cagey one
come on me babbies!
A convincing day one victory
Will be a very interesting and competitive Championship season……………………….
Like a lot of folks on here, I’m nervous but looking forward to the new season. Hoping for a good start then kicking on from there. Good to see so many like minded supporters on here and what does the winner of the prediction table get this year?

I will donate a bumper sticker which reads:
“You may all go to Hell, and I will go to Texas”……………………..Davy Crockett
Wolves to devour Canaries.
Think that our lack of signings and shuffling over the summer will work in our favor early in the season providing some continuity while other teams are still figuring their rhythm and chemistry out. UTW
Here we go again…
Can you believe there isn’t a single bar in Lisbon showing Sky Sports!!
Got a good feeling about this – think we could nick it or get battered. Hoping for the former! Exciting new season ahead and no reason why a top half finish isn’t attainable..in Kenny we trust!!
Looks like Van la Parra is to start as well which is quite exciting!
UTW!
Ikeme masterclass; Sako/ Henry screamer
Northern Wolf… I feel your pain. Try watching a Wolves game in the States. Frustrating too…
After that performance , as they would say in Spain ” Parra La Ligua” ! Go on translate it. Makes good reading !
Apologies . Should be “Para La Ligua ” Getting rusty !!
Do we have a new Dave Wagstaff after that display by Van Le Parra
Great performance, well deserved victory. Think it would have been the same result with 11 men on the pitch. Good to see a Wolves team able to keep the ball so easily. I thought we were going up via the play off’s but now I’m getting ambitious.

feared for us today but great performance from the lads .they will be up there at the end of the season so its very encouraging we beat them quite comfortably .wolves ay we
