I’d hoped victory against Bristol City would make for an enjoyable two week recess.

Silly me.
The misery wire soon cranked into gear delighting us with the news our best player is crocked for the season and a failed attempt to recruit a Burnley cast-off is the collective sum of our loan market ambitions*.
No wind for our sails then.
At least Middlesbrough aren’t up to much these days. They’ve lost 7 of their last 10 games to see them slip from automatic contenders to play-off outsiders.
They’ve been dire away from the Riverside all season, with 12 defeats and just 5 wins. Even Wolves have done better than that.
Much like our last home game then, this is a real opportunity to get a win.
* Nouha Dicko hadn’t signed at the time of writing this and I refuse to count Marian Kello.
Wolves
Despite the best efforts of Hunt and co a fortnight back, I think it’s a big ask to stay up without Bakary Sako. His 10 goals and 11 assists (second in the league for that by the way) account for nearly half of all goals scored by Wolves this season.
Still, we mustn’t dwell. I think Deano’s got to look at starting with the team that finished against Bristol City, which would mean an XI of:

Doyle and Siggy are interchangeable. I’d prefer to see the Icelander start as a striker, with Doyle playing deeper, but I reckon the manager will plump for the opposite.
Although Hunt, Doyle and SEB took the plaudits for getting us the win against City, I think Sigurdarson’s presence up front was pivotal. Had he not been switched inside, I don’t think we’d have got the foothold we did.
With no outside reinforcements, the manager must contemplate involving the likes of Peszko and Hammill for the run-in. I would argue both should have been involved anyway.
Predictions
34 correctly backed Wolves to win last time out. Special well done goes to the 12 of those who also got the 2-1 scoreline.
It’s a maximum for Ben, Sir Fred Paisley, Highland Wolf, Haywood Wolf, Steppenwolfe, Twixfix, Martin B, dave h, Danny Velinski, Lee De Wolf, Paul Featherstone and Wolves4Ever. A single for everyone else.
I think we can hope for another win in this one, especially if we don’t score any goals on their behalf. Not expecting anything pretty, just enough to get us over the line.
2-1.
Up The Wolves.

Hi Thomas nice blog as usual. For me the big plus has been the change in the defence and I think they are starting to improve as a unit. I realise we need the goals to go in at the other end but key for me is having defenders doing a defensive job instead of the likes of Ward who one week is a striker the next a defender.
We can do this and stay up quite comfortably as this side gels more. 2 – 0 Wolves.
Although ulitmately it is up to the team to do the business I think the most important cog in the machine at this critical time are the crowd. When Molineux is in full voice it is such a lift for our guys and puts the opposition in a more nervous state. We as expats living away from Wolverhampton can have no affect on this part of the game but have to leave that to you guys that are there week in week out, we know you won’t let us down and will raise the roof from first kick. Make the away team nervous and our team will do the rest. UTW
Saunders saying Premier clubs not willing to let players go I suspect that that’s half the truth the other half being wolves won’t pay Premier Leauge wages for fringe players not even for a month call me cynical, so what do we do well we do what we’ve done for most of Morgans reign and scour the Championship for cast offs and the hope of unearthing a diamond for next to nothing among the rumble. As for the game again I’m going against my head and heart ( I got it right for Bristol City ) and for no real reason 2.1 to wolves again I carnt remember if we have won 2 games back to back this season, especially at home. Sako injury like you say has put a big damper on my confidence about getting out of this mess justs backs up the theory that we are a one man team I hope I’m wrong and Hunts attitude and shear bloody mindness will rub off on the others who have let us down performance wise this season.
Anyone seen theDoogooder ?
What’s happened to Batth and Butch, Cassidy that is are they in the squad, bench warming duties no dout.
We’re obviously not a one man team. We won the last one with Sako in sick bay.
Most assists secound top scorer, most creative player and Bristol were even more shit than us. I guess we will see over the next few games.
Just read the local rag and the reasons why weve quote ” low key bussiness in the loan window ” .The clue Wolves is in the name ie ” LOAN ” what’s all this BULL about having to give them 2 years contracts as I suspected M and M won’t even pay the going rate as usual even for a month this is and has been the crux of Morgans entire reign yes we’ve bought 1 player Flecther for half decent money £6.5 million but in Premier League terms that’s a a modest out lay, Morgan never has and never will provide decent transfer funds because he to mean/busy taking the money out. Fucking cheap skate that is the fundamental problem.
Even when we are up to our necks in shit and Saunders gets another winger in, how many is that now talk about blind leading the blind.
Fucked, well and truly fucked. I don’t know now weather I want us to get out of this shit because if going down starts the beginning of the end of Morgans, Moxeys and for that matter Saunders time at wolves it will be worth it.
I’m wondering if Dicko didn’t make your first 11 as you literally couldn’t find a picture of him anywhere on the Internet?
Actually, I reckon you typed ‘Dicko’ into google and you opened a right can of worms. The blog is now in its new acid state which you can’t fix and your wife is now staying at her mum’s, after walking into your office as you checked out the Dicko search results.
Anyway, I predict a 3-1 win. The fallout will consist of the following platitudes: ‘Now you can see why we didn’t strengthen’-Morgan.
‘Hunt was always going to be a new signing for us’ – Saunders
‘Show us winners some f@&£ing respect’ – Johnson
‘When preparation meets opportunity you get this by-product called good fortune’ – Moxey. (Whoops. I think he might of said that one before)
Even the thought of winning becomes mildly excruciating under this regime. A win we need though, and a win I’m praying for.
Haha. I literally laughed at every line of this comment.
Hunt deserves to start our next match after the impact he had. If he don’t delivers I’m expecting a show from Dicko in the late stages of the match. A 2-0 victory to the Wolves
I like the Sig up front. Pace, power and strength which we have lacked but suspect SEB and Doyle will start there. Would love to see Pzesko involved but after such a lay-off I doubt he will be match fit.
Boro struggling so this is one we must nick. Going Wolves 2 Boro 1.
I agree with you in the Sigurdarson case. He tend to get into scoring positions anyway though, due to his running capacity, so it’s like playing with 3 forwards when he get’s into the box. But I reckon if he’s getting into those position he’ll be more tired and less likely to score.
Reports are that ‘Boro have the strongest squad that they’ve had available all season. I’ve a feeling that it will be a great game but twill end in a draw.
If Stephen Hunt can maintain the form he displayed against Bristol City and Jamie O’Hara can lift his game by a couple of gears then we should stay up. Hopefully David Davis can provide a valid reason for not recalling Karl Henry. Would rather have given Peszko or Hammill a try instead of bringing in Dicko but hopefully Saunders knows what he’s doing. 2-0 win.
Remember Dicko is a left winger, while Hamill is a righty and the right side is also Pezsko’s favored side, although he can play on both sides.
We also have Stephen Ward who can play wide left. Would be better suited to that role than left back in my opinion.
There’s this rumour that if we play Peszko again its going to cost us financially.
I don’t know if its true, but if it is then not playing him for the last few months for the sake of a few (hundred ?) grand could prove to be the most costly mistake of Moxey’s career.
I understand that rumour is totally unfounded. If it were true there would be no point in keeping him here. It seems Dean just doesn’t rate him. I though he looked useful before he got injured.
They’ll keep him and say he’s injured to save face its happened before and will happen again if Saunders does not rate him or he is really injured why not send him back, I’ll tell you why because once he leaves wolves he’s free to speak and wolves will have no control on what he says while wolves are still paying his wages they can gagg him, thats why.
Sounds about right that probably why he hasn’t been picked or is surpposidly injured. Down to money again sound familiar.
We need 4 points from the Easter games, so let’s start with a win.
Wolves 2 Boro 0
I think it’s a win for me, I would hope the squad got some form of confidence from the Bristol game, and Boro should be shot of it at the minute so for me it’s
Wolves 2-1 Boro
UTW
Boro will park the bus, I reckon. We don’t have Sako.
So, I’ll go for 0-0 this time.
Doom and Gloom I’m afraid. Poor show in the loan market and this will spill into the players self belief. Hope Morgan and Moxey have got the policy of ‘no signings coz they’re no better than what we’ve already got’ right otherwise we’re doomed. Says a lot when Simeon Jackson picks Brighton.
Bad day tomorrow …Wolves 1 – 3 Middlesboro. (Hope I’m wrong tho!
Agree that’s all we hear from Moxey/Saunders, ” no better than what we’ve got ” if that’s the case why aren’t the rest of the league as bad as us , why are we bottom it’s just the same old excuse not to stump up the cash same old record for last 2 years wether its August or January.
Well put Paul .. I thought exactly the same but you we’re able to sum up the comparison in a sentence.
1 – 0 Wolves. Ebanks-Blake in the 33rd min
1-0 to the Wolves with brown trousers and sweaty palms all round as we cling on by our finger nails for the last 10 mins.
Another 2-1 win – we seem to be coming into form and Boro are really struggling so…
Wolves to draw 2-2
Got to be confident going in to this one. Hoping the rest has done them good and not dampened the hunger.
Time for The Peszk surely ? And Sigurdarson to run ’em ragged.
It’s there for the taking Mr. Saunders. Think about it.
Wolves 2 Boro 0
Coming into form??
Is that because we are unbeaten over the last two weeks?
The only good thing about our team selection is Ward is still banned for the next two games….isn’t he?
Please?
Hoping for a win, but I fear reality will kick in and we will resort to type….and lose.
What is it, 4 more defeats and we are down?
Looking forward to the middle of May when footie is finished.
Mind you, there are those who would say footie was finished for all things Molineux related about two years ago!!
I have been wondering what the opposite to an adrenaline junkie is called. Tomorrow may inspire an answer
Wolves 1 Boro 0
Hmmmm…..
What has happened to the site?
Has Moxey bugged it?
Wolves 3 Middlesboro 0
wolves 4- boro 1……we can all dream!
Wolves 1 – 0 Boro
Boro 2-1 wolves doom and gloom to return
Agree with Thomas 2-1 to the wolves
COME ON ME BABIES
What’s all this about the site going a funny colour?
It’s always looked the same on my Mac. Or has it been fixed now?
Anyway – back to business.
Two weeks without any horrorshows (apart from England’s second half against Montenegro) has reboosted my confidence.
We’ll beat the Boro’ 3-1.
I back the accusations that Moxey has infiltrated the Wolves Blog in an attempt to gag the disgruntled masses. It’s the only reasonable explanation for the recent disruption!
I think Dicko will start with Siggy moved up front instead of Doyle. SEB has been carrying a collection of injuries lately so it will be interesting to see if he starts or not.
I’d prefer Henry in midfield to O’Hara who in my opinion slows attacks down and provides no defensive cover.
I do think De Vries is a more vocal keeper so his enforced inclusion should have a positive impact on a back four that is growing in confidence and stature – even though I’d still prefer to see Batth at centre back.
Wolves 0 – 1 Middlesbrough
Think we got away with it a bit against bristol until we start playing better football dont see any reason to be postive i’ll go 2-1 to boro and hope i am wrong.
I have been reading the comments on this blog for a couple of years now and they seemed more actively negative when we were in the Prem and still had chance of survival than they do now !
I can’t fault the selection, you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. Nevertheless I would have Baath in for Johnson who is a loser in every respect. It won’t happen though. 2 – 2
No confidence in wolves whatsoever. No loans of any worth so no one to change the mindset. How this team crys out for someone like ROY KEANE. So the result. Will as we all know if a team is on a bad run, their luck changes when they play wolves! So the result, either 0-0 or 0-1 to boro. I admit i am a pessimist but can anyone in reality say we have turned a corner. Can we say our performances under Dean have improved, have shown organisation or a pattern? We beat a poor Bristol team, just. I sometimes write in the negative as a kind of reverse psychology but in my defence Wolves and their performances have driven me to this negative mindset. Bought my tickets to H’field today, so in a positive frame of mind, please win guys so i can see my first win in 18 months! Despite this, i will cheer my head off and not boo, lets all get behind the boys! Thats what fans do.
2-2draw for me, think we showed a lack of ambition and support for the manager in our failure to get quality loan players. Big opportunity missed
I think Boro will hit their form (hope I am seriously wrong) but Wolves 0 – Boro 3
I just think we’re just in trouble and there’s no passion. We play scared all the time no f******g confidence which is the managers fault. We lose tomorrow, sack Deano and then cut off Moxeys balls too. We can then start calling him oooops her Jezreina. Lol
Dear me Andrew – remind me never to go on holiday to Atlanta. I don’t want to go as ‘Mark’ and end up castrated and being called ‘Margaret’!!
Apparently we battered them at their place(and still lost). At the time of writing Blues have just won 4-0 away at Palace.Interesting.
Bristol City were shit and so are we.
Wolves 1 Boro 1
Strangely I saw Tony Mowbrays self-gurning mug about an hour after his first match in charge of Sandwell. I hate to remind you but this was the day we lost 3-0 away to them.
He was in Dudley Tesco with his missus and minders. I guess he was meeting his adoring public or maybe just fancied some value pork pie wrapped up in a free Sandwell shirt!
To this day I am unable to get that horrible image out my mind whenever I see him.
Anyways, I really hope to see him gurning some more tomorrow but with his mug pointing in the opposite direction. I doubt it, I bet were shitting ourselves, Wolves 0 – Middlesbattered 4.
I`m hoping for and expecting a 3-1 win. No good reason to explain my prediction, but if I`m right !!!
Don’t forget what an awful game of football it was against Bristol until we turned things around. If we play like we did in the first half when no signs of progress were evident, we’re unlikely to win tomorrow. Lets hope the remaining strikers can continue to score some goals else otherwise, without Sako, there won’t be many more Wolves goals at Molineux this season. Based on form anything is possible tomorrow so we may have to suffer another frustrating draw 1 – 1.
For what its worth (since I have the last few results way wrong), a win, 2-1.
And again, after Milwall and Bristol, it will prove conclusively that we have turned the corner, there is no panic, and our wonderful CEO was right and justified in not spending any additional money, so as not to fall foul of the fair Play regs.
And then I wake up in a cold sweat, and realise its a nightmare……..
Borough to hit form.
Wolves 0 Boro 3
Nice to see all the positivity in the predictions (albeit hard to fathom).
Wolves 1 – Borough 1
Think we’ll score, think we’ll concede.
2 – 2
Wolves 1 Boro 1
The sacking of Berwick upon tweed happened on the 30th march 1296. The English captured the town and reportedly slaughtered over 6000 of the township. Well I predict that our king Dean will hold court with his army of mercenaries, giving a speech that breaths fire into their bellies, belief in their hearts. He will let loose the dogs of war and we will slaughter the foe from north of the Tyne, claiming the spoils of war….3 points and Freedom from the shackles of relegation.
Dean’s army 3 The other lot 0
UTW
Whenever we come up against a team who are having a bad run, or an opposing player who hasn’t scored in donkey’s years, they always do well against us. I see no hope or reason for that to change against the ‘borough. Wolves 0-2 M’Borough.
Dead on with your blog.
Wolves 1 boro 2
Feeling positive, wolves2-1. We can survive
I did say before the Bristol game that I thought we’d win that, then end up losing the next couple of games afterwards. As much as I want to say I’m feeling optimistic I think I’ll stick to what I said. Not a huge fan of De Vries and will be interesting to see if Sako’s replacement can provide the same creativity and enthusiasm (although I might feel a bit more confident when the ball is in the penalty area without Sako and his clumsy defending).
Wolves 0 – 1 Boro’
Read in the paper Gorkss is on 20 grand a week and weve committed to buying and giving him a 2 year deal if we stay up. Seems a bit steep for a 50 yr old Neil Young tribute act no wonder they dont want to give Saunders much more money.
Sorry about the echo comment wouldnt post now its up in triplicate.
Wolves 1-1 Boro
Got to remind you guys, we are just returning from an international break and our results have not been very good in recent years. Got to go with Boro to win 1-0 another of our bogey teams, we seem to have so many. Hoping to be proved wrong again.
I’m going 1-2 to Boro, hope I’m wrong
1-1 draw for me.
2-0 to the Wolves. Hunt and Siggy.
Jezzer in the E&S yesterday:
“We’ve spoken to every Premier League team, half the Championship and even teams in League One to try to get decent players in during this loan window. But what we don’t want to do is just take anyone who’s no better than the players we have here already, and give them a two-year contract”.
Now I’m probably missing something obvious here and about to make a complete dick of myself but if we are bringing someone in on loan why would we be giving them a two year contract?
The loan period would be until the end of this season.
A two year contract would indicate a permanent deal not a loan.
This doesn’t make any sense as far as I am concerned. Have I missed something obvious?
I think most aren’t looking to send them out simply to get them back again in a couple of months. Therefore clubs won’t agree to the loan unless we’ve also agreed to a permanent deal for after the loan ends. Similar to the Gorkss deal.
Yeah, you’ve missed something obvious…..the rest of what was said. Clubs won’t loan players other than when tied to a permanent deal after the loan. Fair play rules mean clubs will be needing to downsize their squads in the summer so they’re all trying to get rid of their deadwood via the loan system.
The two M’s know the importance of avoiding relegation so, I actually believe they’re doing their best.
So . . . . . . . because of the fair play rules the clubs want to get rid of these players but they are unwilling to loan them. I would have thought a loan period would have given them the opportunity to impress potential purchasers therefore increasing the liklihood they would be sold. I don’t see how holding onto them is more likely to result in a permanent move if they are not playing.
The fact remains that other clubs HAVE managed to bring players in on loan.
Do excuse me. From now on I’ll ensure all posts make full use of the Harvard referencing system and have appropriate supporting literature. Or would you prefer I use Footnotes rather than Harvard?
Well, call me mad, but I’m going to go for a win.
Wolves 2-0 Middlesborough
The Bristol City victory gave me hope. Sadly, that seems to have evaporated during the international break. Middlesborough, like all teams on a run of bad form, will find their fortunes miraculously change at Molineux. The all-conquering Karl Henry will return with his first class attitude. As usual, he will jog around in the general vicinity of the ball, fail to pick up midfield runners until after they get the ball, give away free kicks, take 6 yard passes from full backs, turn between 180 degrees (if vaguely pressured) and 360 degrees (if panicked) and give 6 yard passes to centre-halves, who will launch long balls to the heads of Middlesborough centre-halves (failing to spot that we don’t win a single header). Doyle and Siggy will take turns playing right-wing. Doyle will only get a decent ball to feet when he is out wide, facing his own goal with a whole back four to beat. He will run tirelessly into space but away from goal until a defender gets close enough to breathe on him then he will fall over. Robinson will be Wolves MOTM, Dicko will have a 10 minute cameo and score a consolation breakaway goal from a DeVries assist, which will be both metaphorically (as a last throw of the dice in the loan market) and literally (as a late substitute in a match already lost) too little, too late. Saunders will lament the loss of injured players in spite of the fact the only decent contribution comes from enforced changes. Wolves 1 – 3 Middlesborough.
I rarely think that one single game will be pivotal for a season, but this one I am sure will be. Lose this and the Blues will eat us alive on Monday and we will be going down like the Titanic. In last nights game against Palace they showed terrific form and ability. It’s all doom and gloom from me and I also expect Boro to park the bus and get a 1-1 draw.
Crap game, wolves battle from 1 down at HT to win 2 1 with a 92 min goal from S E B. PS I still believe in santa 🙂
Did anyone watch Birmingham thump Palace last night ? looks a tough game for us on Monday 🙁
Time now to stand up and be counted…I’m hoping for a 2-1 Wolves win! UTW!
Opening the door of the last chance saloon .
Wolves 2 Boro 0 .
Driving South on The Blues Highway 61 today so will be blissfully unaware of state of play.
Hope that helps, better than fretting. Lose and we are gone.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
In spite of Deån’s attempts at giving the game back to Boro’.
What on earth was he doing when we had them on the rack?!
Never mind – a great battling performance and Hunt making a few people eat their words.
UTW!!!
YES!!!!

The magic of my Steve Bull t-shirt worked again today – 2 games wearing it and 2 wins.
’nuff said !
Well done to the lads today !
Fantastic win and boy didn’t we need it,
nice to see a battling side once more down the mol its been a long time coming.
Got no complaints today with that performance a little more of that at the blouses monday night and perhaps just perhaps we will get out of this mess.
MOTM For me the team for a change.UTW,AND( FOJM.Thats the only negative)
FOJM ??? A bit harsh on Jim McCalliog I would have said.
At last a Wolves performance that raised the blood. 90 mins of effort and for once attacking with some vim. From the Stan Cullis Upper I was convinced the first Boro goal never crossed the line – I’ll be interested to see replays. A truly superb goal from Sigurdarson and brilliant determination shown by the team to come back from the second equaliser.
Play like that from now on and we will avoid the drop.
Well done what can I say, didn’t think we would get a win.
Just keep this going for monday lads….
Well done what can I say, didn’t think we would get a win.

Martin O’Neill sacked…director of football anyone???…oh, and I do hope that now signals the demise of Sunderland in the Prem, be lovely to see Fletcher relegated again #headsgone!!!
