How many?
That’s the only question that will occupy most people’s minds when they gander down the fixture list at Sunday’s early kick-off.
You can’t blame them either.
The team riding high at the summit of the Premier League against the side dangling gravely over the precipice.

A foregone conclusion if ever there was one.
And if a glance at the table isn’t damning enough, recent form is another kick to the privates for even the most optimistic South Bank fanatic.
United have won 7 of their last 10 games. Wolves have won 1, against a QPR team playing with a man less.
Sir Alex’s side have also plundered a staggering 10 away wins already this season from their 14 games. They’ve only lost once.
But enough of that.
There must be something Wolves can cling to?
How about the fact we’ve beaten them twice in their last three PremierĀ League visits to Molineux?
How about the logic that they played in Europe last night and will likely rest their better players?
How about grasping at the mother of all straws and saying ‘they’re due a bad result in the league’?
Anything take your fancy?
The Team
I think TC has to change the team from last week to give everyone a lift. It just wasn’t good enough from start to finish. Even before Blackburn moved into the lead, it was plain to see the game was slipping away from us.
This is the team I’d send out:

I’d wager not many other people would pick Roger Johnson, but I think we lacked leadership against Blackburn, so I’d give him a chance to redeem himself. He owes us a big performance.
Milijas should also come into the side to give us a bit more craft. Too often Bassong had the ball in defence with nobody but O’Hara offering up. Milijas gives us another option in this respect and allows O’Hara to get further up the pitch.
I’d play Edwards on the right for his industry as I think Doyle was totally ineffective in the position last weekend.
Prediction League
Plenty of you predicted defeat against Blackburn (13) but only 1 person got the scoreline correct.
So it’s well done to These are the days for scooping the maximum 3 points. The other 12 take a single.
I’m expecting Wolves to come out of the blocks quick in this one, but ultimately I don’t think we have enough quality, fight or spirit to get a result over 90 minutes.
4-1 United.
If you’re at Molineux on Sunday, get right behind the lads and lets try and recapture the magic of the last time United were in town.
Up The Wolves.

7-1 United
FOWB FOJM
i said to the lads at wor k 5-0 to united i would have been happy no money staked just happy only shipping 5 ben with the wolves sincec1972/3 love um too bits just dont know where we are going.
Nothing but a loss, if we cant look even remotely good against blackburn i cant see us doing one over utd. But on that note we’ll probably play a great game and really push them for 90mins. But utd are utd, they score in teh last minute and have players who can change games.
2-1 united. A heroic loss, but still a failure
I don’t think they are too flash to be honest. But then again we are bloody atrocious right now.
Wblves 1 – 3 Man U
I really don’t think we can win this, especially after they lost in the EL.
5-2 manu
I would play Kightly in a right wing or as an attacking midfielder position. If he would play as a midfielder I would play O’Hara instead of Milijas.
2-1 to Wolves.
Man u is in rebound mode so we will meet an aggressive side.
Heeeey! look what I found!!: http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-headlines/wolves-v-manchester-united-latest-team-news-1-4353158
Hammill is back.
Then I would change my first team lineup: my team would look like paddy’s except for the midfield: Jarvis, O’Hara, Davies, (AM) Kightly, (RW) Hammill.
That’s a copy and paste blunder on the part of a local rag, I think. Hammill can’t come back until 28 days are up.
Hammill played yesterday, he’s yet to regain the kind of form that made him the stand out performer for Barnsley, the kind of form that we drummed out of him having purchased him.
0-3. Wolves are simply not good enough, neither in a fighting spirit, from what I/we can gather. This season seems like an eternity, you know what I mean.
What a mess.
Yes we expect to lose this and by some margin so now is the time to really mix up some areas and try and get some order and ideas for the final run in-quite what there is though is quite another matter.
I would give DeVires a shout as Hennessy is prone to make mistakes when he is lacking in confidence hence his long lay off last season. Ward was especially poor against Blackburn and the Captains band may have contributed to what can only be described as a dire performance by him. That said he can do a lot better so should stay in (it’s not like we have any real alternatives!) I would go for Johnson over Stearman or Berra with the clear point that this is his last chance to make amends.
Definitely no place for Kightly not even on the bench but what we have left is a fairly “gappy” and slow midfield and I think this is where we are really losing the game as clearances land up with the opposition as do most long goal kicks. This has led us to distribute the ball out of late but sdaly our back 4 simply aren’t good enough to control and keep the ball so this rarely works-another reason to use DeVires as he is a far better exponent of this skill and at a greater range.
If ever a side shouted for a quick midfielder this is it…Anyone know who has any -oh yeah Middlesborough and Notts Forrest!
Sadly 6-1 š
The dark side clouds everything. Impossible to see survival it is. 0-3 to Manchester United I foresee. Yes, hmmm.
Not looking forward to this one. 4-0 United.
…F**k it, 2-1 Wolves!
Yeah, I’ve given up on the Prediction Table! š
After trips to the last 5 home games, its almost a relief to say I can`t go on Sunday due to commitments on Mothers Day. I will be there in spirit though and expect a miracle 2-1 victory, as with ten games left I said thats the score we needed for all those games. Have`nt got it right yet, but thats a minute issue to the predicament my team are in.
I`ve no doubt the fans will give fabulous backing, I just hope United have a bad day at the office and we sneak the points. Ever the optimists us Wolves fans.
We have as much chance of winning this as I have of getting laid by Jennifer Aniston.
We got stuffed last week by argueably the second worst team in the prem (no prizes for guessing who is the worst) and now we face United, fresh off defeat in Europe, with ONLY the title to concentrate on.
Not a snowball’s chance in hell……………..but hold on, the doorbell is ringing…………..looks like one of my “Friends” has come to play!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wolves 1 Them 0
Are you a fan of the show Clive?
That would surprise me.
Also, mid-90s Jennifer Aniston was a lot hotter than skinny post-2000 Jennifer Aniston.
Agreed?
Even my wife thinks Jenn is sexy, so be careful, young Thomas, yoom stepping on dangerous ground!!!
Totally agree T.
O’Hara out til end of season I put Jen’s life on it and Johnson couldn’t give a tinkers left if we go down..our ‘team spirit’ was the strongest asset of our team lacking in so many other areas- these 2 big time Charlies set in a cancerous rot in the dressing room. A very small cat’s chance in a rather large hell tomor.
so it’s gonna be
5-0 to us
You can get 12 – 1 on Wolves.
http://www.betting-directory.com/football/08122011/man-utd-v-wolves-odds-reds-short-priced-to-bounce-back-with-a-win.php
Got to be worth a punt in a two horse race.
2 – 1 Wolves – and dreaming on.
I agree with you Thomas about Johnson (Tho he’s still a prat) being included .. might be just the day for him to justify our blind faith in him.
We need a full back with plenty of pace or a rope to shackle Nani .. so if Ward stays there .. God help us. Maybe drop Ward and replace with Stearman? not the best alternative . agreed
That said I can’t see anything other than a good slapping (as Mick would say) and a 1 – 4 defeat.
l like the fact that most people are predicting us to score !
Football ,being a quirky game , I predict a shock result .
man U have just gone out of Europe so only have the league
to win …..so pressure on them too what with City their rivals .
Two bad results for them on the trot I can easily see
(through my gold tinted glasses )!..so , with Johnson recalled
and he knows he owes us all big time , 3-2 to Wolves …Jumping
Johnson with the winner !!
A golden day – especially for all Wolves mums
UTW
Screw it. 2-1 to Wolves. Somehow, someway, George Elokobi will claim both goals.
Wolves 1 -0 Man Ure
Wolves for some reason seem to improve against the big teams, probably because the pressure is off as everyone expects us to be thrashed. Let’s hope…….
1-1. I like the look of that team Thomas. Hope TC does to
We are an absolute shambles. Defense totally at sea, can’t string two passes together and a lone target man with no support.
Wolves 0 Man U 6
My gut says it will be a 3-0 loss to United, so I’ll go with that.
No way are we going to beat them and I think they’ll be smarting from going out of the Europa.
My head says another shocking defeat. My heart has been trampled on by Moron and
Greaseball.
We can’t score so 0-5′ I’m afraid, very afraid.
Probably more likely than my prediction Alf!
Robin-Ireally hope its different. Trouble is the hopes running out.
O’Hara and MIllijas doubtful!
O’Hara is part of the problem. Turned into another headless chicken chasing around.
Milijas must wonder why he can’t get a game – he’s the only midfielder we have who can pass the ball effectively.
Agree about O’Hara, highly overrated…
Just spent £500 on the early bird. Why do i feel like ive just put £500 quid on the kauto star of the premiership.
Thats real support. Prem or Championship you will be there. Why is there no price reduction if we do end up in the Championship? Surley you pay Ā£XX to watch the big teams so logic dictates that it should be Ā£X – y for the lower teams. I know it’s business but really come on Moxey Man up.
Must admit I also think it’s time to give Doris a start in goal. He might spur us on to a clean sheet.
Prediction 0-0
We won’t get a sniff.
I like Hennessy but they will be taking pops at long range which is where he has struggled recently.
Wolves. 0
Man Utd. 4
Sob. Sob. Sob. Sob.
4-0 to United. Can’t see any other result.
Johnson to return and steady the ship, by scoring an early goal with a bullet of a header.
A surprise from our first corner.
It lifts the lads.
Johnson continues to play like a colossus in defence, as we are besieged by a rampant Man Utd, who cannot breach our heroic back four.
Just as it looks like they must concede under the constant pressure, a deft ball from Davis finds Milijas.
He hits a perfect pass to Fletcher, who controls the ball immaculately, spins and shoots past De Gea.
Wolves 2 Man United 0
Now wake up!!!
To get a corner in the first place presupposes we will mount an attack, and, wonder of wonders, a shot on goal!!!
As it took us 76 minutes to do that against Blackburn, methinks the only time we will get near their half, let alone close to their box, is if we stay on the pitch at half time!!
We all dream of that magic result, when nothing goes wrong for us and nothing right for the visitors, but that only happens once in a lifetime, and unfortunately, we had those 3 lifetimes last season.
We are doomed,Captain Mannerin’ , doomed!!
FOJM
It was a vision sir! –
Came in a skunk haze as the Dutch say –
But one that will, mythically, ( or not), remain in my minds eye, long after we struggle against the mighty Tranmere in years to come.
It has to be a united win really doesn’t it? 3-0 united. Rooney hatrick. His goal against Bilbao was phenomenal.
Can’t argue with your team selection. I like O’Hara in that role. He can get away some fantastic shots with his left foot. Gives us another route to goal. Fletcher seems like a good choice. I’d have hammill on the right as well if he was available and not off impressing folk up borough.
There’s only one way to beat united,Get Bielsa to manage wolves then we might have a chance.
I’m hoping for some sort of respite and at least get a score draw, and baggies to beat wigan,
looks well wanting the baggies to win what have we come to….2-2 draw i hope.
After last week they owe us big time.FOJM,TC….Bielsa manager, wilkins coach.UTW.
Are we relegated yet? How long is this season going to drag on for?
I’ve placed bets on United winning 4-0 or 4-1…towards my Championship season ticket fund.
United 4-0 is my choice here (2-0 at half time has a nice familiar ring to it…)
I’ve thought for a long time that Sir Alex has a soft spot for Wolves, and goes easy on us – he may well put out a below full strength team, which will give us a chance. Problem is, can we take it?
I like to go 3-1 to Wolves, but that’s so improbable….at least the odds will be long.
I’ll go 2-2 here.
He does have a soft spot for us. He has said publicly that he grew up watching wolves hosting the first european games and the first floodlit games. No hope whatsoever and definitely no shock so 4-0 united!
Does Anyone know the record highest win in the Premier League…?
Just asking, cos you can probably get a decent price on it being broken on Sunday….
Morgan OUT!!! Moxey OUT!!! TC OUT!!!
Wigan 2 – WBA 0
Wolves 0 – Man U 5
That’s me being positive!!
Yeah I’ve given up on the Prediction Table too but I still can’t bring myself to give us the win.
A MOTD2 highlight frenzy for near misses.
0-0
I’ve gone with my heart far too much lately without getting any results correct. But I have to go with my head for this one I’m afraid. Man Utd are far too classy for us & we are in a mess at the moment. Lacking any sort of fight, desire & spirit it seems. Lets hope I’m very wrong but I just can’t see it!
We can’t score & we definitely can’t keep a clean sheet.
Wolves 0 Man Utd 3 (is that too generous to our defence?)
Man U definitely will put out a weakened team. They won’t be flat out and they will take us for granted. Which all adds up to us 0 them 3.
Oh ye of little faith. A point adrift and a quarter of the season still to go. We aint down yet.
3-1 to united and that’s been optimistic.
3-0 to United…I’m confident we will maintain our current home form no matter what attempt at a team TC puts out.
I’ve been away this week for a few days with the wife in the caravan, over to Cheddar on our bikes. A little treat as we’re both recently retired. Do you know ?? I never gave Wolves a moments thought for 4 days, that’s unbelievable considering the pit that they’ve dug themselves into.
I get back and I just can’t keep off the blog reading all this doom and gloom. I’m afraid the only comment I want to agree with is Steppenwolfe’s.
” One point adrift and a quarter of the season to go………”
Anything from the Man U games was always going to be a bonus, problem is you can also say that about Man C, Ars, Chel, Tott…….. and so on and pretty soon there’s only the bottom 5 or 6 teams left. Sorry chaps more doom and gloom but keep the faith, up the Wolves..!!! and let’s hope W*A can actually do us a favour against W***n today, otherwise its FOWB as usual.
11MEN IN GOAL AND I RECKON WE CAN KEEP SCORE TO 0-8 JUST! FAILING THAT A FEW LAND MINES AND SNIPERS PLACED IN THE SOUTH BANK AND POISONING THEIR WATER SUPPLY AND WE COULD DRAW 0-0.I BET TESCOS GO AND LOSE AS WELL….STAY UP OR GO DOWN STILL OLD GOLD!!!!!!
CAPS LOCK STUCK ON?
Even if Man Utd put out a weakened team after playing in the Europa League on Thursday, I dont see us getting anything from this game.
Wolves 0-3 Man Utd.
Wolves 0:3 United
No Kenny Miller type heroics from this bunch of clowns!
Can’t see us getting anything. 4-0 United.
Fulham smash us 5-0, then swansea beat fulham 3-0, at fulham. Are swansea world beaters or are wolves absolutely shit, and this proves just what a disgrace the current crop of players are.
Hopeless, perhaps, but I’d only see Johnson and O’Hara as disgraceful…
Johnson is a disgrace to the club, the fans and himself, and should never pull on a Wolves shirt again.
O’Hara either flattered to deceive last season, or is carrying an injury.
I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Either way, he should not be playing at the moment.
The rest of the team have collectively lost their bottle as the season has progressed, and appear to have no direction and no one to kick them up the arse and motivate them.
This means the “manager” ,who it now seems was the only one for the job, coz m and m do things on the cheap, and TC is proving to be the proverbial fish out of water.
Changing the subject slightly, my American son in law, just for kicks, looked up The Official Wolves site on his iphone, and was astounded that he was asked to pay a one time fee of $6.00, just to look at the app.
Typical moxey at work, methinks!!!
Hope that Bolton player is OK.
FOJM
I’m willing to give Johnson another chance – I’m not defending him showing up drunk but if TC gives him the chance then he ought to be ready to redeem himself!
If he doesn’t redeem himself in training TC won’t play him. And neither would I.
Fulham beat QPR 6-0, we beat QPR 2-1…
This really doesn’t mean anything – there is plenty of other things to point at in regards to this team’s weaknesses…
0-4 United. We will be lucky to keep it at that. still all the best lads. UTW
Lets all wolves fans get be hide fabrice muamba and hope he recovers
Thoughts and prayers with Fabrice Muamba and his family.
I’m not sure Man U will put out a weaker side. It’s all about taking the title from Citeh for them now. Ferguson will be in no mood to drop points.
Not going to change my optimistic 0-0 prediction though. Yes I’ve finally lost the plot.
With our scorching pace at the back and thier pedestrian forwards and midfield, I think the conditions are right for Manu to try to beat thier own highest score in the premiership (9:0 against Ipswich in1995) Maybe then Morgan might get the message that all is not quite good enough !
Sorry but all I have to say is our prayers are with you Fabrice.
Thoughts with Fabrice’s family, puts Wolves plight in perspective really!!
If by some miracle we could get relegated, and that would mean he lives, then bring on the chaampionship.
Fuck it, 2-2 draw. I’m a happy drunk
We have absolutely no idea how to play the game any more, the players look like they want to be put out of their misery. Yet even now our team is sent out having listened to the same old ‘I know that you’ve got no confidence and that all teams that play us know that and also know that we’ll pass it sideways and back a lot and therefore pressure us up high. I know that you’ll lose the ball under this pressure at least three times in the game leading to clear goal scoring opportunities of our making. But why don’t we give it another go, cos……….well I don’t know why but lets do it anyway, eh lads?’
I know its been said over and over but…We need to change our game completely and pressure the ball, break quickly in numbers and have a shot when the opportunity arises for the rest of the season. Yeah OK we will still lose against United but it’ll show the fans that we want to stay up. O’ Hara needs resting cause he’s injured and can’t run, we are not good enough to carry him in case he pops up with something.
We won’t change.
Wolves 0-5 Man Utd
I agree totally Huddersfield.
Ideas, indeed brains, are sadly lacking at Molineux….
Wolves win 1 0 Ward header in 93rd minute
Ferguson fined 25,000 for fielding a weakened side
Jennifer Aniston pictured with fat old bloke in Wolves shirt leaving the Tumbleweed Texas Dance Hall
Hilarious Danny….
If the team could match your sense of humour, we’d be knocking on the door of Europe, rather than whimpering toward the championship!
Less of the fat.
I’m vertically challenged.
Sunday morning blues.
I agree with Huddersfield.
We have no chance.
We could not have picked a worse replacement for MM.
TC is bereft of ideas and it shows on the pitch.
Someone I know, who watched us play Fulham said that if Fulham had broken sweat, they would have won 11-0.
I am going to go for double figures.
Wolves 0 Man Ure 10
We’ll get tonked 5-0
A lot of very positive people on twitter are throwing around the phrase “giant killers.”
I’m not that positive but today, I’d just like to see “valiant giant battlers who eventually lose to a more talented manchester united team.” I think we can all agree that a show of fighting spirit is the best we can hope for here…
That’s right boys… it’s valiant failure time
The problem is that TC, being an MM clone, has no comprehension of how to ‘motivate’ a team. We have as much chance of beating United as a snowball has of surviving in Hell.
I do hope I get my prediction and words thrown back at me by an outstanding performance and we win…..
Won’t be the first time…
Wolves 0 Man Utd 10
I’ve never believed in miracles, but who knows….
I suggest Wolves perform this just before kick off (a sort of Black country Haka) rather than the ineffective circle thing we usually do.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-p8bOoFlPo
The cheese could be TC and the mouse could be Moxey!
Are you a comedian in real life?
Giant ‘Pillocks’, rather than ‘Killers’, especially in the boardroom and management!
Getting ready for the match. Not expectin a win, just hope the players give 100% and dont embarrass themselves, fans or club especially as we are on TV. Will be cheering them on to a 1-1 draw
Seems that Foley is in midfield again, replacing O’Hara.
Milijas not on the bench – is he injured?!
Best Wishes young Fabrice and your fight for life. I hope it all works out for you and you make a full recovery !!
Do you remember when we were young un’s playing in the local leagues ? and there’s a big match coming up playing the top of the league. Team talk’s generally revolved around trying to nullify the oppositions strengths in some way like, running your legs off for 90 mins, chasing and harrassing all game, marking your opposite number as closely as possible, get your retaliation in first and so on, even treating the match like a semi final. I met this simple, narrow logic many times playing, even in Staffs County and West Mids league.
Quite often it doesn’t work, but at least you come off the pitch knackered, you’ve tried, you’ve shown commitment and people are reasonably happy. I’m not suggesting for one moment that Man U would fall for this approach but they are beatable but only if you put them under constant pressure all over the pitch and don’t allow them to wander unchecked especially within shooting distance.
I do not remember the last time that I saw this from a Wolves team and that’s the challenge, to motivate and keep players on the boil.
Look at the improvement in England Rugby, Sund*****d, Sw****a. Players actually start to look better and perform more like a team with togetherness and confidence. Unfortunately when you’re down it becomes more and more difficult to impress and hold your own.
Nevertheless I’m still keeping the faith..Up the Wolves..!!!!
As ever FOWB but thanks for the W***n result.
ALmost forgot to get the tip in… Wolves 1 – Manu 3
Approx 0215 and Crash bang wallop…!!! that’s the sound of WW landing on the bottom of the league.
( It sounded different when WBA did it a few seasons ago. )
Oh dear….10 men, Davis off, Jonnsson on. I’ve got a bad feeling coming on.
Keep the faith UTW and FOWB.
Oh No..!!!
3-0, there’s another walloping coming today. There’s the 2nd half yet.
I think I’m going to support WB***, my wife was born there.
( ONLY JOKING !!!!!! )
Keep the faith UTW and FOWB.
9 matches to go and probably 12 points to get but from where ???
Not just because of his sending off but does everyone realize that Zubar is an absolute clown now. He literally can’t pass to another wolves player. I understand he is strong and powerful but how did he get through years of pro football being technically so shit. Play him centre half or no where. Ever.
Foley is a right back. A very good one. Please play him there. He keeps possession and has good positional sense. We look so much better with him there.
Doyle right mid again was good to see because of his previous demolition of teams when playing out wide. Oh no, completely ineffective again. We may as well play 442 because we had nothing to lose today. Even 433 just to see what happened
I don’t think….. 550 or 640 or 451 or ……… any other combination would have worked. We don’t seem to have the calibre of player that is able to concentrate for longer than 10 sec. This is a time for senior, seasoned professionals to take the initiative and assume more responsibility for the overall performance of the team not just for their own performances.
They look an absolute shambles.
At the very least, we can take pride in this club’s fans – they’re f**king great! Cheering the team on at 5-0 down – hell, if we’re going down we might as well have fun!
How shit must you be, you’ve only scored 5! Love it.
You can just see the moxey spin can’t you?
For 50 of the ninety minutes, we didnt let a goal in.
We were not our usual 0 – 2 down at half time.
We did well to only let 4 in after unluckily being down to 10 men.
If OHara had been fit, it would have been a different result.
Nenad not playing hurt us.
Onwards and upwards, still 27 points to play for.
What total bollocks, again.
We have now leaked 19 goals in 5 matches, and scored 3, and three of those games were at home.
One point from a possible 15, so with those stats, we will get 2 points over the rest of the season.
I don’t think so, we won’t get any.
We are the worst Wolves “team” in the club’s history.
If they had any balls, they would all go and commit Hari Kari.
Hennessey
Zubar(Foley) – Johnson – Stearman – Ward
Kightly – Davis – Jarvis
Edwards(O’Hara) – Doyle
Fletcher
My team would look like this. I’m sick of TC playing Doyle or Foley at right wing ahead of Kightly. As far as I’m concerned this clubs main attributes are Fletcher, Jarvis and Kightly, and too a lesser extent Ward. Davis has been great in my opinion, not perfect, but a good alternative to Henry.
Honestly though, I think we played decently today. I had no expectations for us not to get ruined by Manu, but I think the marking has to get better on set-pieces. Otherwise, it was fine. The fans sounded amazing
Ooh! That was a close one. Sorry! I was talking about Jiz nearly missing the last order for pies that bat fastard.
OK , tough to take . Positives ? , …only really one to my mind . Forced to watch on tv due
to the greed league mantra ..( Sunday lunchtime ) ,__ the crowd .!! . I was so impressed how our support came across on TV . At 4-0 down , a man down , that noise – albeit a touch cynical at large – got the team into an optimistic period , heads came up and we had a couple of chances . So little to chew on but , onwards to Norwich …then Bolton . In my opinion these two games will confirm if TC can make that miracle happen . Keep behind the team and we may make a differance .??!!
Let us all also keep in context that we support a team in a game , Bolton’s Muamba is a very sad reminder of where any of us may be .
I’ve been making the trek from Hereford to Wolverhampton, ever since the Doog was playing; however I decided that I couldn’t stand yet another depressing journey home and decided not to go to the match as the quality of football no longer justifies the expense. How arrogant are the 2 M’s to think that we can survive without a proper manager in position; forget the rose tinted view from the WW website, TC is not up to the job; if he knows these players so well why does he play them out of their best positions? why is he so tactically naive? It’s obvious to me why MM struggled because his right hand man had little sound advice to offer him. Do we really want to stay up for yet another year of the same old sh**.
We are Championship, looking forward to seeing some of the football we played in 2009, after all we’ve still got many of the same players!!
Was Moxey there today? I didn’t see him on tv. I know he missed the last game watching netball.
