Without a win since the opening day of the season, Wolves are in desperate need of some home comforts against big-spending Man City tomorrow.
And whilst we can take positives out of last weekend’s narrow defeat at Stamford Bridge, that’s still five defeats in the last six games, leaving us joint-bottom of the table.

Hardly cause for great optimism.
Of course City will be smarting too following that 3-0 home defeat to Arsenal in their last outing, putting a minor dent in their title-chasing ambitions. They’ll be without Carlos Tevez, a player who netted twice in this fixture last season and has seven Premier League goals to his name already. Even with the likes of Adebayor and Balotelli to come in, the scrappy Argentine will be missed.
For Wolves, Karl Henry returns to action following his three match ban and with our skipper certain to waltz back into the starting eleven, someone has to make way. Looking at Mick’s team selection for the midweek Carling Cup defeat at Old Trafford, I suspect the player to drop out will probably be David Jones.
Stephen Hunt must also be pushing for his first Premier League start, but I suspect Jelle van Damme might keep his place, with Mick McCarthy preferring the Belgian’s physical presence down the left flank.
That would mean a team of:
Hahnemann
Foley
Stearman
Berra
Ward
Jarvis
Henry
Milijas
Edwards
van Damme
Doyle
With City almost certain to deploy a five-man midfield also, it could get pretty competitive in the middle of the park. Let’s just hope we come out on top.
Prediction League
Unsurprisingly, many of us correctly predicted that Chelsea would beat Wolves last weekend, but only one person got the score spot on, so congratulations to t’OM for picking up the maximum three points on offer.
I still lead the overall table though. So there.
If you want to join in the Prediction League, simply leave your forecast below and do the same for all official previews in future matches.
This weekend, I’m going for a Wolves win. We’re desperate for a big-result to ignite our season and City look vulnerable away from home. They’ve scored 12 goals this season and Carlos Tevez netted 7 of them. Without him in their side, I think this might be our day. 2-1 Wolves.
If you’re going to the match, have a great time and get behind the lads.
Up The Wolves.

I really hope he doesn’t go with that team. I reckon leave Elekobi in and if Hunt feels up to playing then play him. I’d probably play the same team that started in the week but with USA in goal and Doyle in for either Fletcher or SEB and Henry for Mancienne. Don’t think SEB deserves to be dropped but I’d also like to see how Fletcher plays up front with Doyle.
Wolves 1.2 Man City.
Tight, good performance – but nil points!
I predict a 2-2 draw, although I’m sorely tempted just to copy whatever Thomas predicts from now on …
I’m sure it’s a fix! (ha,ha,ha)
He’s only thrown in a Wolves win this week because he knows I’m onto him!
1-1 draw. Big George to continue his goal scoring streak
I’d leave Elokobi in, bit it’s not going to happen. With players like Adebayor and Silva upfront, we will be allowed to keep the ball like we did at Chelsea.
I think we can win, and with Jarvis playing like he is we have a chance.
1-1
Jarvis opener, we play really well but Balotelli scores an offside goal in injury time.
1 nil Wolves. Time to kick some Premier League ass.
Wolves 0 Man City 2 another nail in the PL coffin
I’m afraid I’m with Dazza – 2 -0 to Citeh
Would love to see Jones, Milijas and Henry start in the centre – for me Edwards is just a headless chicken – runs alot but does f**k all else!
Absolutely, we need a complete change of mindset. USA, Foley, Berra, Stears, Elokobi at the back, Hunt,Milijas,Henry, Jones Jarvis in midfield and Doyle up front. Attack down the wings, get players in the box and really go for it. But i bet it’s just more of the same, Edwards putting a shift in and another unlucky defeat, 2-1 City.
Lose 3-2. Full of effort and industry, but wrong selections, wrong balance and a dodgy refereering decision will mean we lose for the umpteenth time this season.
Albion will then go on to spank Blackpool 5-0.
1 – 1 – goals from Silva and Doyle.
Man City to win 2-0. Only because Mick will start with both Ward & Edwards! I would also like to see Mouyokolo start instead of Stearman.
we might see elokobi tomorro if the can play up against Johnson. I reckon Citeh wont turn up this game, esp if they play the likes of Silva, Adebayor, Balotelli etc. we might be direct enough to hit them down the flanks if they continue playing such a narrow formation too. Remember it was Bellamy and the equally robust Tevez that did us last time out. I thought whilst Chelsea did look classy with their goals they had tuned down the physical approach last week and it suited us, and i hope we can be more confident in this game too. Al that said, if they match us 4-4-1-1 with Milner, SWP (who loves playing us) then they still massively have the advantage. They don’t travel well/consistently and had 2 good games against us last year-so im going for a law of averages lucky game for us 2-0 win with a penalty/late goal/own goal from 40 yards!
UTW & SMM
Surely we are due a win???? 2-0 Wolves, Fletcher and Jarvo.
I’ll go for a 2-2 draw. Elokobi and Hunt must play
Well if Ward gets selected, bet they have Milner and Adam Johnson running at him. At Chelsea Van Damme was protecting the left flank in the first half, with Hunt on in the second half Ward got done for pace for the second goal (groundhog day).
I`d say 2-1 to Wolves, as we haven`t scored 2 goals since the opening game, this has to change. Hope big George starts with Mijas instead of Jones. Hope Karl Henry stays on the pitch for 90 minutes, he owes MM, the other players and fans a real captains performance tomorrow. See you at 2pm for the pork bap John, I can smell the stuffing already!!!
I guess y’all know my prediction………….Ward will play, sorry, will be on the pitch, along with Berra and Edwards, from the start.
Therefore we will lose.
We will however have one more nail in the McCowardly coffin, ready for him to be booted out.
FOMM
Yes that Edwards guy, why was he picked? Thought everyone was good. Again Foley and Jarvis stood out but for me the best one was Edwards.
1-1 draw for me.
2-1 wolves. hope we use the wings properly and pass the ball round like against chelsea. city’s fullbacks arent anywhere near as good as chelsea’s so that will probably be our best bet.
all depends on team selection… but im remaining positive!
UTW
Looks like Ward will start today. He’s due his 100th league start for us. Johnson will think Xmas has come early!
What a difference a win makes!
Exactly! And well done Thomas. Again!
Not to take anything away from our lads but, apart from the first 5 minutes, I just could not believe how crap Man City were. The Italian kid with the fancy haircut in particular has got a lot to learn.
Now we’ve all got egg on our faces!!!
It’s a pity City caught us on an off day, or we would have scored 4 or 5.
My prediction now is if City keep getting stuffed, and let’s be fair, we stuffed them, then Shake Yer Money or whatever his name is will pull the plug and they wil go the way of Portsmouth.
Could be the beginning of the end of ridiculous money in football.
What can I say.
After the first 5 minutes with Ward all at sea as usual, it was only a matter of time before they scored.
I thought.
Absolutely the best performance for a long time.
The penalty was correct, but no fault to Stearman, his momentum carried him through, and he could’nt stop.
Hope other tackles in the box in the future get the same reward, what’s good for the goose etc.
Anyway, brilliant fight back, even Ward looked average, but I thought Hunt was trying too hard.
Fabulous goal from Milijas, and a great, great second half performance.
Billion dollar team??
Fuckin’ ordinary!!!
However, we have still not solved the left back conundrum.
And it was interesting to see that an England winger could not get into their starting line up, and our winger is bound to get into the England tarting line upsoon.
Another superb performance by Jarvis.
Worst player today on our side?
I nominate Yank for a poor game, usually our Mr. Dependable but such was our dominance, and their ineptitude, it didn’t matter.
Thought the managers had switched teams with the crazy substitutions Mancini made. Adebayor was by far their main threat, and he takes him off!!
And thank you Arsenal.
Very happy camper in Texas today!!

I`ll take your egg Clive, and put it right next to my humble pie!
