I’m really looking forward to this one.
Having beaten Southampton, it feels like the pressure is off and the lads can take a free swipe at the runaway leaders.

Although we could and maybe should have got a result in December, we haven’t hit the heights against Liverpool since returning to the Premier League.
To get anything tomorrow, we must hit the heights and even that might not be enough to get it done.
But if everyone is at their maximum we’re going to push the European and World champions to the limit.
How often can you say that of a Wolves team?
Liverpool
They haven’t lost in 22 league games this season and only tripped up once in 38 last time, while also collecting the Champions League trophy.
I’m not one of these people who hate Liverpool, but if you are, boy, is this a bad time for you. They’re going to win the league this time and it’s a big ask for anyone to put them out in Europe over two legs so they’ll probably go the distance again in that competition too.

When people think Liverpool they usually think Salah, Mane and Firmino, but I think Allison, van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold.
Not only do those defensive players provide an incredible shield (just 14 goals conceded in the league – 9 less than anyone else) they also create and score goals themselves.
They’ve got plenty of physicality in midfield too, which gives them balance and cover when those defenders go charging forward.
It’s just a really well-constructed team and little surprise nobody in world football has been able to live with them for a good while now.
They’re the only elite team who blend equal parts craft and finesse with pace and physicality, which is why they’re currently putting other heavyweights in the shade.

The away end
A few comments lifted from the pre-match thread on the Red & White Kop forum:
Personally think this is our hardest remaining away game . There looking at possibly a top four finish and gave us a difficult game last month so will be up for revenge .
They’re a fine side, no doubt about it. And it’s good to have the gold of Wolves in the top flight regardless of how Brexity their supporters seem to be these days. But they should be easy pickings for the Reds on Thursday. Anyone who comes out and attempts to play football against us is going to suffer. All I ask is that we’re more clinical in front of goal than we’ve been in the last two matches. I want to see us start sticking 4 and 5 past teams.
They’ll also be fired up after the first game. Have a few Wolves fan friends who felt the offside call was a joke and they did more than enough to get something out of the game. Plus they’ll have belief after going down 2-0 to come back to win 2-3 at the weekend. I think we win easily if we have our shooting boots on.
I can’t see us conceding, our defence and keeper just look to impregnable at the moment. At the other end, we create too much not to score, so reckon we’ll win this 2-0.
Wolves are a good side but their threat is overrated. They do give you a tough game but dont carry a killer punch or threat. They have yet to score against us and have they had a big chance since they have been promoted?
I respect this wolves side and their manager a lot more than Utd. will be a tight game
I like Wolves, got a bit of time for them, they can be dangerous, I like their manager and his style, good team… let’s fuckin humble them.
Wolves
The side continues to pick itself but there’s the salivating prospect of having Jota and Boly on the bench.

Might be a bit soon for the big man, but Jota hasn’t been out long, so if he’s recovered from whatever injury he was nursing, he could give us a different point of attack if we’re struggling.
Doesn’t look like new signing Leonardo Campana will be part of the senior side in the immediate, but if the strong rumours linking us with winger Daniel Podence come to fruition I’ll be a happy camper having been impressed with what I saw of him against Spurs in the Champions League.
I think we’re shy a creative central midfield player and if Neves or Moutinho were to get injured I’d worry how we’d cope. Neither Dendoncker or Saiss are quite so effective going forward.
Still, things are looking better than they did a week ago so mustn’t grumble.

Predictions
Nobody predicted the 3-2 scoreline at Southampton last time out but plenty of you correctly thought Wolves would win so well done to everyone who got the 2 points. This is how the top of the Prediction League table is shaping up with Iceni Wolf 4 points clear at the top.
If you’d like to join in this week simply leave your prediction in the comment section below using the boxes provided.
That’s where you’ll also find my best guess for this one.
Up The Wolves!

Sod it.
They’ve got to lose some time (not necessarily saying that’s this season though) and we have the weaponry to get it done.
If we exploit spaces between center halves and full-backs and get Neto and in particular Traore driving at them, I’m confident goals will arrive.
Keeping them out feels an almost impossible task so I imagine we’ll suffer at times, regardless of how it pans out in the end.
I think they will lose sometime but not sure they will give up 3 goals any time soon.
Wrong way around Tim. It should read ”I’m sure they will lose sometime but don’t think they will give up 3 goals etc”.
Sorry. Maybe I should change my handle to Pedant.
That’s mine, Mr Wolf.
For one of their fans to claim above that we don’t have a threat, he’s obviously never seen us play, or at least Adama tearing defences to shreds.
So that will make it all the sweeter when we dismember their proud unbeaten run, just like we should have at Anfield in the first game.
Great to have Diogo and Big Willy back on the scene, though I can’t see either actually starting this one. Too soon for Big Willy and Pedro doesn’t deserve to be dropped therefore he shouldn’t be.
I’m chock full of misplaced confidence for this one and just can’t wait for the kick off.
Just shows what tossers some of their fans are – no respect for anyone or anything.
I though Adama skinned TAA more times than a skateboarder skins his knees last time out and McManaman gave TAA MoM. Says it all really.
Our back 3 will have their work cut out against their small, nippy forwards but if we don’t concede early who knows?
Traore didn’t play the whole game last time. This time Van Dick will know hes been in a game this time.
Really like playing with a no.10 as a different option, something I have been advocating for a while.
2-1 Wolves
Anyone who has read my threads about the biased, one sided scouse commentators and pundits in particular and the media in general will know my aversion to all things that come out of the mouths and pens of Liverpudlians.
Imagine my delight in reading Peter Crouch’s excellent new book that the gobby
( literally!) Jamie Carragher is the second highest scorer of own goals in the prem – only Richard Dunne has more against his name. I do hope he suffered!
I had further delight in Clive from Houston’ s comment regarding my Doubting Thomas mode last Saturday when, for the first time ever, I backed us to lose and was hopelessly proved wrong. A Damascene moment that will not be repeated. Apologies to Clive and all others who have never erred from the path of righteousness!
What else but a home win tomorrow evening? Maybe not 5 – 1 ,but I think we may well sneak a 2 – 1 win. I am coming up from the depths of Norfolk and we never lose when I come so place your bets!
Got to give credit where it’s due, they’re a brilliant side, well coached and can dismantle any side. This is a season where the so called top six have collapsed and we can make another major statement tomorrow by pushing them to the limit. Hard to see our defence, even at it’s best , keeping the Reds out all game and so important not to concede early or we could be chasing shadows. However, they know as well as we do that Adama is currently the most incisive forward in the PL and will look to strangle the service to him. This will be the key for me, can we release Traore quickly enough – his confidence is sky high and he is quite capable of winning this game for us. Going for a narrow win and the best night of the campaign so far.
This is defo’ a big step up, cant wait, come on you mighty Wolves.
23 predictions to date and 12 points. Shows what l know.
A clean sheet for us tomorrow and us to sneak a single goal. If l get this right l should get double points l think.
We have nothing to fear and everything to gain if we put one over a very, very good team.
I am cautiously optimistic about this one! Liverpool have a fantastic side but are overdue for some bad luck and a loss, and why not now. If, ( and this is a big IF), we do not concede an early goal, the game will be there for the taking! This is the time for our cream to rise to the top, and cream these Liverpool bastards!! Several persons predicting a 2 – 1, so I will go for the dream score using my heart rather than my head, of 3 – 1 for the boys!
Just been reading their match day predictions on their fans pages. They don’t like us very much and most are very confident of a big win. Let’s show them what we can do and ram their comments down their throats 2-0 wolves
I’m going to go for a sterling (he he he) defensive showing by us and a great goal by someone but I’m not prepared to pick who.
So 1-0.
BTW, I wouldn’t put Diogo or Willy in the squad. Give them the week plus to get fully fit and then they can play on the first.
Although I am predicting a win, I don’t think there is any situation where players who have not been playing for a while should come in and risk making an error or not being sharp offensively.
I don’t care how good their team is, and it is very good, or how good a manager Klopp is, their fans are the most obnoxious, arrogant, loud mouthed bunch of twats in the universe.
What they fail to mention in all their posturing, is how much we have helped them win the title this campaign, by beating City twice, and taking two points, so far, off Leicester, Arsenal and Man Ure.
If we had lost both games to City, they would only be 7 points adrift, and if they win their remaining game against Liverfool, would be so close as to put the shits right up ’em!
They were time wasting beyond belief last month, and they know deep down they were very lucky to win, so tomorrow night is a night of reckoning, and payback, in spades.
Once again, as per last weekend, no one gives us a prayer, and once again, as per last weekend, we are gonna defy the odds, and the apple cart will be so upset, they’ll be making cider down the Stafford Road, all the way to Goodyears, for weeks.
In fact, Cheesy’s next door’s cat, which in itself is a marvel, having traveled miles to live next door to Cheesy at his new address, will get on the number 11 bus, have a swift half at The Mount, and make his way to the Three Tuns, which is now a Chinese ( wonder if Fosun own it) and lap up the remaining apple juice, which will be amply mixed with the tears of the deflated Liverfool fans, as they wend their way back up to scouseland, never to be heard from again.
Our easiest win of the season, 5-1 to me babbies.
And lest we forget…………..
FOwb
Wolves to win against the so-called best team in the world.
Don’t care if it’s 2-1 or 3-1 or even, like in 1979/80, 4-1.
Regardless of the margin of our victory that professional spitting image puppet Carragher will still make Trent Alexander-Arnold Man of The Match.
Come on lads – it’s only LiVARpool!
OODCL
Liverpool whilst being unbeaten this season don’t look unbeatable. On occasion they have ridden their luck and crept over the line with a late winner. So not beyond the realms of what is possible is a Wolves win.
I’d like to see Traore left in a central role alongside Jiminez with Neto just behind. It worked against Southampton in the second half so why not again.
I believe that the comeback against Southampton was an important moment in our season. To have lost would have given momentum to a slide but winning should give a lift.
I think we can get a win.
No doubt the best team in the Premiership this year and the title is there for the taking.
However, why not, they have to lose sometime and if anyone can it is us.
Earlier today I was looking at the odds, 4-1 against a Wolves win.
Well, whenever there are odds like that in a two horse race, it’s got to be worth investing a few quid hasn’t it.
So I have put a not inconsiderable sum on a home win.
If we do it, it certainly won’t be life changing, but it’ll buy a couple of beers at the end of season Bloggers’ Ballbash.
And it’ll show the rest of football that we’re not in the Premier League just to make up the numbers.
We’re here to make history.
If I won, it wouldn’t last to the end of the season if beer is involved.
3-1 to the Wolves
They are not looking forward to this, we have nothing to loose so no pressure.
Wolves win Neto on the score sheet revenge for the lad.
where’s pedant when we need him ?
I won’t predict a loose!
A loose what? ( Sorry to be pedantic ! )
I was responding to oldandwise’s witicism in relation to Dorset’s comments, Andrew. Deliberate faux pas in other words.
You can never predict a loose, that’s the trouble.
It just gradually comes undone, falls down and then, if you’re not careful, you end up tripping over it.
Just seen him in the Asda having breakfast.
Have been looking forward to this fixture for ages….like an excited child at Christmas…this doesn’t get any better . The Champions of England elect at the Mol against the mighty Wolves under the lights….WOW .
I thought the UTD fans were arrogant but this lot just take the piss !
Have you read some of the comments made about Charlie’s what’s his face from SKY who has predicted this to be their first defeat of the season…..They are definitely not having it …arrogant gobshite scouse twats !
Lets see who is smiling tomorrow night…..COYW
Have been feeling confident about this all day, thought I’d check in here and lo and behold, you all feel the same way too!
Just read that the last time we beat them at God’s Golden Acre was August 1981, which happens to be the month I was born. It seems fitting for the best Wolves team I’ve seen in my life to break that particular duck this season.
I’m predicting a VAR inspired win. They’ve got a reputation for decisions going their way, we have quite the opposite. They’ll be duty-bound to confound the critics by giving 2 pens, a red card, and an offside fingernail in our favour.
UTW
We can nick this game, but we have to keep a clean sheet and to a man produce the best home performance of the season.I take the point in their comments that our goal threat is exaggerated but, finally we might have Var on our side,to compensate,or a worldly from the kid from Porto,it’s due.
Honestly, if any team is gonna beat them this year, it’s gotta be us or nobody. So let’s do it boys!
GoWolves!
Such will be the beating that is dished out by the mighty WWFC tomorrow night, Jürgen Klopps teeth will jump out of his mouth , race down the touchline to the 4th official and demand VAR replays the entire match because it is jolly unfair that LiVARpool lose a game. Meanwhile the Wolves dressing room celebrates the win by playing ‘I HATE NERYS HUGHES’ by Half Man Half Biscuit at full blast. Apparently Half Man Half Biscuit are very well known in Portugal. Jao Moutinho is often heard whistling ‘ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A DUKLA PRAGUE AWAY KIT’. And Ruben Neves is always on the dancefloor to ‘99% OF GARGOYLES LOOK LIKE BOB TODD’. So everything is looking good. The fact that Cavendish House in Dudley was shrouded in fog on the way back from work today is a sure sign that something is stirring in the atmosphere. Even the slug in my garden was unusually active today. It’s all pointing to a 3-1 victory to WWFC. After the game Nuno said ‘ I have the original ‘Back in the DHSS’ t shirt by Half Man Half Biscuit. I will be playing them more often from now on’ . Jurgen Klopps said ‘ Half Man Half Biscuit can did off. They support Tranmere anyway’. WWFC 3 Liverpool 1
And dont forget Alison is a big half man half biscuit fan. So much so that he won’t notice he packed his Joy Division oven gloves instead of his usual ones. Only when he stretches out a hand to keep out a Neves screamer will he realise it’s actually attached to the other one and he has to watch helplessly as it flys into the top corner.
And yes I feel so good and unbelievably excited about this one as the rest of you. Please to god let’s give it everything as fans. This team deserves 100 mins of full on support no matter the score. Going toe to toe with this Liverpool team is the stuff of our dreams. COYW.
I dislike scousers intently apart from Conor Coady, John McCalle and possibly one or two others. They are arrogant gob shites like a previous blogger mentioned and think they’re entitled to win everything. Why do we have stereotypes you may ask. Because they are accurate descriptions that’s why.
Adama”s going to roast that overrated right back with the ridiculous hyphenated surname.
Playing traore down the middle with neto behind worked at Southampton but I worry that doing the same against Liverpool would release there two full backs which we don’t want.
Tactics are nunos expertise and I’m sure he will work his magic this time as well.
keeping them at bay will be tough but we are more than up to the task.
I am convinced we are the team to shut the gobby scousers up.
please nuno get your tic tacs spot and you can do this.
Free hit for me, go for it boys!!!
they are due to lose and Wolves are more likely to do it than any other team.
So I was going to go for a Wolves victory, but now I see that everybody else has gone for one already.
In that case, and just to play the contrarian, I’ll go for a draw – 2-2.
Theres an element of unfinished business about this one. To be forced to play this mob within 48 hours of playing Citeh was seriously unfair, but that was nothing compared to what took place on the pitch. If we can play again with the intensity, energy and physical commitment that we showed in the 2nd half up there we could well win this.
Already made my prediction post the Southampton game
2-1
Traore man of match
Neto scores with VAR backing and an overdue Neves belter
Chelski feel our breath on their necks….
UTW
I too have a good feeling about this one . I think we’ll win 2-1 but VAR will take off it’s customary goal leaving us with a creditable draw.
On our way,
On our way,
To the Europe,
On our way.
How do we get there?
I don’t know,
How did we get there?
By beating teams like LiVARpool ,
that’s flippin how……
Neto to score off Traore pass.
Wolves 1
LiVARpool 0
Now we see those poor little lambs from Old Trafford losing, again, this time to mighty Burnley.
How long before the wailing goes up from the prawn sandwich brigade that they must get rid of OGS and sign Dr. Nuno?
Well, even our Merlin would not be able to meld that bunch of tossers into anything resembling a footie team.
Roll on our next away fixture, time to kick seven shades of snot out of them………after we’ve stitched up Liverfool, of course!!
Lovely jubbley!!!
I got 7-1 for the home win against citeh but only 4-1 for a home win against pool ?
I suppose the bookies are getting loads of wolves to win bets so they are adjusting the odds to cover them selves
We are a funny bunch aren’t we! There are more people predicting us to beating pool than Southampton last week
While we can still say this
We have won as many premier league titles as Liverpool,, we are playing at home, under the lights with a late kickoff against a team in the same league
Has to be a home win for me
Alarm will be set for 3-45 ( not that I will need it mind)
Kettle on , cuppa in my hand as Coady chatts and calms down his excited little mascot before walking out
This is Anfield? Don’t make me laff
This is Molineux
Utw
As great as the comeback was last time remember we were two down at half time and this team are a million miles better that Saints, If we score first we have a chance if not we are stuffed.
Edging my bets 1 – 1
Head rules my heart against the best team in the Premier League this year by a country mile, but at least I have got us to score against them. COYW.
Gotta love the confidence / blind faith shown here. I really hope that you are all right and I am wrong…
I agree, sadly, with Ash K. LiVARpool are too good. Will watch in the hope that I’m wrong. Think the margin either way will be tight. Our defence is definitely leakier than theirs.
I think you may well turn out to be right on this Iceni- that’s why yr top of the Prediction League! However, whilst we do not have the tightest of defences, we are playing well if not always picking up the points. Southampton bounced back with another excellent performance at Palace on Tuesday, which goes to show what a brilliant comeback we mounted against them. It’s the hope that ultimately kills you but this Wolves side is capable of achieving anything on its day. I’m glass half-full on this game- and we can go unbeaten until the end of the season with Willy back
I wish I’d gone for a Wolves win now it’s just before kickoff – overcome with excitement!
Let no one ever say that Wolves fans (especially on this blog) are anything but optimistic about their beloved Wolves. Top of the league, European Champions, World Club Champions ….meeeh…means nothing !!! Good on you guys. Me , I would be very happy with a draw (and I believe so would most supporters on both sides).
I can see Diogo coming on for the last 15 mins or so – especially if we are in dire need to score). Boly maybe against ManU. Should be a great game as we always do well against top teams.
“Don’t carry a killer punch or threat”!!?? We’ll just hafta see ’bout that. But…
the last 3 times I’ve predicted a loss have resulted in 7 total points. What to do? I’m
kinda superstitious so don’t kill me on this but here we go again. Hope I’m wrong.
Tough one tonight i think we will give them a game but defensively we don’t look solid at the moment.
“How Brexity their supporters are”. Ffs what was that about ? (Although I would agree)
Van dijk is worth an extra man to most teams but did I just seem signs if tiredness in there last game ?
Going to be a stellar night under the lights
Got on early at 6.6 on betfair
5.6/1 is good, Bash. I’ve only managed 5/1 so far but might go in again later. That Man City double dosh is burning a hole in my pocket.
I can’t work out that Brexity comment either.
I was also going to mention the Brexity comment. It is sad that we’re all being tarred with the same brush. Nothing could be further from the truth as far as I am concerned, but this site isn’t the place for such discussions.
Non-brexity Wolves fan here. In fact, I love Europe this year and hope so for a few more months!
At our very best, with our full squad, we would need some luck to beat this side. So I’m going for a 2-1 win. Whatever, I hope the lads make us proud yet again. About ready to set off from sunny Suffolk. The sun is actually just breaking through the fog we have had for the last thirty odd hours. I feel a good day coming…
Wolves 3
LiVARpool 2
Come on me babbies.
Great to be the recipient of positive decision on Saturday
my only fear as a conspiracy theorist is that Stockley Park is full of Scousers hopefully we will win this fair and square but going for my fallback 1 all draw
COYW
I’m going for a draw
Corporately entertained at the Golden Palace with my Wolves mate from Esher this evening ….I must admit before the Southampton game I was dreading this one as we seemed to had lost our Mojo prior to that 2nd half performance…..now …well we are both super excited about the possibility of a win over the best team in the world …..as
other bloggers have stated defensively we have been caught out prior to this fixture however tonight if every player performs to their potential best we can win this no matter how good Liverpool can be ….NEVES ,NETO, TRIORE to score
Twice I’ve put something on here with a u tube link
Don’t know what’s happening or where they are going
I felt quietly confident a few days ago, but the nearer it gets to kick off, the less confident I feel. Going for a draw.
I fear for you at 7.59 and 59 seconds, then.
The stars do seem to be aligned for a result for the old Gold tonight. The boys orchestrated a tremendous come back against Saints so confidence will be high – Jimenez in particular after getting a brace. Plus we have some quality on the bench with the return of both Boly and Jota.
Meanwhile the Reds’ fans have started celebrating winning the League already so complacency may set in and the players may prioritize fitness for the Champions League matches that are starting to appear on the horizon
So I certainly think it’s the right time for this fixture for us.
However, Liverpool are probably the best club side in the World at the moment. Even at 80% they can boss most teams and find a way to win when things do get tough. So I’m not brave enough to predict anything other than a Liverpool win.
Mouth watering to think we might fifth by beating the unbeatable though.
I had a Dream………..!
They have to loose some time, why not tonight.
I am in a tricky situation, two grandsons one a Wolves supporter one a Liverpool. A no win situation for me. But what the hell we can beat them in my opinion so let’s just get on with it.
It’s that moose on the loose again.
Not tricky at all. Just cut the one out of your will until he sees sense.
I remember us meeting the mighty and unbeaten Man U in their great Fergie days at Molineux. We were heading for relegation. We went a goal down but won the match 2-1. Liverpool have to lose at some point (and maybe not this season) but I reckon they will lose tonight.
Revenge is a dish best served cold, but it will be bloody hot tonight. I’m going for the same 2-1 as above.
I wouldn’t mind Boly coming on at 85 minutes to shut up shop on our lead.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/23/sports/soccer/liverpool-wolves-adama-traore.html
Worth a read. Thanks Tim.
Sheer optimism is getting the better of me (plus the comments preceding this). Why not Wolves for another momentous night?
We deserved something at Anfield, so a win tonight would be fantastic.
Why not indeed West Park?
Going with my heart like you.
COMBs!
LiVARpool are a quality side no doubt and much as I want us to I don’t think we will win tonight. We were worth at least a point on Merseyside so I’m thinking that’s what we might get tonight. Got a feeling Nuno might surprise us all with the starting 11, looking forward to it.
Head saying draw, heart saying win! My son supports LiVARpool & is already a typical fan – ie god given right to win. Therefore I feel it would be good for him to learn an important lesson – how to get beaten for once!!!
Any team can beat any other on any given day. So why not us & why not today!!
Be good to see Jota back but would expect him in the bench, likewise Boly.
Come on Wolves let’s show everyone what we can do!!
Some complete pricks on that Liverpool thread.
I can’t get a result right let alone a score so apologise in advance for predicting a Wolves win. We were robbed at Anfield. We are capable of beating anyone as long as we don’t give away one or two goals early doors.
Won’t be there so probably going to have to listen to that prick McManaman or Carragher or some other scouse expert droning on all night.
Really want to be the ones to stop them going season undefeated.
Can’t you watch the game with the volume off and listen to it on the radio or something?
Game on….
Let’s silence the lambs.
I was wrong about the score against Southampton, but right in saying that we stand a chance against any team – as the lads proved at St. Mary’s. We certainly have a lot of statistics against us, but as someone said “If all the statisticians in the world were laid end to end, they still wouldn’t reach a conclusion”. When it comes down to it it’s a game of football between two very good sides and I see no compelling reason to predict against our bearded maestro.
If you’re going to do something you might as well make a good job of it. So here goes with 3-1 to us.
COYW
Really wish Vinagre was available for this one, even if for only half an hour. Felt very strongly he was the key at Anfield.
Could go either way just want us to show what we can do.
If the home strikers had had their shooting boots on at Anfield then it could have been a runaway win for them. They didn`t of course and its the pressure which mounts on the reds every game to keep up their remarkable record this season. Love to be in their position in a couple of seasons.
As for tonight if we can keep it goalless to halftime then anything can happen, and I can`t believe the lads and the crowd won`t be up for this, so 2-1 to the mighty lads in black and gold. Traore to get the winner 87th minute.
Well I think them scousers are a little worried.
COMB FOwb Veela & ‘pool
Proud of the lads tonight, just a shame Saiss only gave 99% in his defensive duties. He should have put his body in the way to stop their 2nd. His fault we lost….. simples.
Gutted but still proud.
Just been on the BBC site Wolves report. There are loads of very generous comments from Liverpool fans about Wolves in the HYS. Many want us to finish top 4 after tonight! Well done to them.
On the positive side, Watford lost to Tranmere.
