There always seems to be a lot to talk about after Wolves play Leicester.
In recent times, it’s been about VAR with the last three contests all influenced in favour of the Foxes.

They completely outplayed us earlier this season, but still, the VAR-awarded penalty that won them the game was harsh to say the very least.
Prior to the introduction of technology, Wolves enjoyed that barnstorming 4-3 victory and we could do with a sprinkle of the same magic on Sunday.
Then again, I’m still very much in the ‘take it however it comes’ mindset as we attempt to resuscitate our season.
Leicester
I’ve got a lot of respect for Leicester and Brendan Rogers. They quietly go about their business and for the last two seasons have consistently occupied a place in the top four.
With a fully fit squad there’s no doubt they’re capable of remaining there so it will be interesting to see how they navigate the second half of the season, having capitulated in the previous campaign.

The bad news for Wolves is that there’s every chance Jamie Vardy and Wilfred Ndidi will return for them this weekend, bolstering a team that routinely saw off Fulham in midweek.
Aside from getting their pants pulled down by Leeds, which can happen to anyone, they’ve been going along well and everything is still possible for them both domestically and in the Europa League.
Only Man Utd have a better away record and the Foxes have already amassed an incredible 8 wins and 2 draws from 11 fixtures on their travels.

The away end
Some thoughts lifted from the Foxes Talk pre-match thread:
A massive game which could have a massive impact on the teams mentality for the rest of the season, a loss and teams closing on us could have the it’s happening again effect. I know I’m stating the obvious but i really think this weekend could define the second half of the season.
1-1 draw, which wouldn’t be a bad result. Despite being not in the best form they are always a well-drilled team and tough to break down. Even in the first game despite playing really well for large chunks of the game we only ever looked like scoring from the penalty spot. But if Maddison and Tielemans turn up then we can beat anyone, and even if we only get 30 minutes of Vardy, that’s enough to pose a problem for anyone.
Recently Wolves have shifted to a 4 at the back so it will be interesting to see if they keep that system against us. If they do, having Harvey Barnes up against Nelson Semedo is a tantalising prospect. I also think that Moutinho despite being a class player on his day these days doesn’t have the legs and Tielemans will dictate the middle if they are only playing him and Neves in the middle of the park. For that reason I think they will change their system back to a 343 against us, and I could see us modify our formation during the game like we have done a few times during the season already if they do so and it’s not going our way. That said 4141 with Soyuncu, Ricardo, Tielemans, Maddison, Barnes, Vardy, Ndidi can beat anyone if they turn up.
Wolves
As I said prior to Arsenal, I’m glad I’m not picking the team. If I was though, this is what I’d probably go with on Sunday.

I think we’ve got to get more of the ball and protect the back four, hence playing a flatter midfield three.
The Kilman at full-back experiment was pretty disastrous, so hopefully Saiss can fill in, or failing that Hoever. Not sure how close Marcal and Ait-Nouri are to a return.
The temptation to play a back 3 is strong though, particularly if Vardy returns. We’ve generally managed him well since getting back into the Premier League but that’s been with a sweeper to reduce his impact running in behind.
Last time out
Jamie Vardy scored one penalty and missed another as Leicester deservedly took all the points. We had a few opportunities second half, but I think this was the game that convinced Nuno we needed to try a different shape.

Last season this one ended in a stalemate after a Willy Boly goal was ruled out for a fractional offside.
Predictions
Well done to Dek, Graham from Horsham, London wolves loyal, theDOOGooder, CHEESEBURGER OF DEATH, Marney, Mike Jones, Dallas Bob, WOLFSTROKER, DancesWithWolves and Border Wolf for all correctly predicting the 2-1 score against Arsenal.
MILDENHALL WOLF is still out in front in the overall table at the end of Gameweek 22.
As always if you’d like to join in, simply leave your prediction for this game in the comment section below, which is where you’ll find my best guess.
Up The Wolves!

No idea.
The hope is that Wolves can play with greater freedom having finally got a win, but we can’t forget about how easily Arsenal opened us up prior to imploding. Our problems aren’t just going to magically disappear.
Team selection will be interesting from both sides and although you’d have to concede they come in as strong favourites, I’d hope we can at least fight hard for a point.
So much of sports at that level is confidence and hopefully we are slowly regaining it.
2-1.
After Arsenal this is a free shot. Still we always give Leicester a good game, I think if Nuno fields our strongest 11 with 3 at the back with emphasis to Neto and Adama swinging those balls in for Jose we can probably take 3 points here again.
I don’t rate Tielemans at all and as far as that fan saying he will Run the midfield, good luck. If we play the 3 at the back then I can see them trying to long ball and as much as Maddison and co run wild – We can stiffen up for this game and defend them out the game. Catch them on the counter and they always tire out late on in games.
I am a bit confident for this one, Confidence and new roles could help us. Lets be honest no one thought Arsenal would be as good as it was.
– Yes, if we can keep a clean sheet with three at the central back line, we always have a chance. The 4213 is a good plan B.
– Read Huesca has a buy out clause: 4.9 mill for Rafa Mir. What a mistake by Wolves football club!! There’s a rumor that Real Madrid is interested and ready to buy him from Huesca, if they choose to buy.
I have grown to hate Leicester after their VAR successes in so many games .The Kilman handball in the last game would never be awarded in today’s interpretation of the rule .Plus Rogers is a very arrogant guy so I am happy for anything to do him down .
I hope we play a back 3 to start with a view to changing to aback 4 if we have to chase the game .Coady is not quick enough or good enough in the air as a central defender so long term if we are to move to a back 4 he has to be a holding midfielder if we are to play him .
A draw would be an ok result in the present circumstances .
Set up will be vital. I would definitely go 3-5 2 if we’ve got a recognised left wing back available – the Kilman experiment cannot be repeated!!!
A point would not be a bad return against this lot.
will do well to get a point ,
watched them against Fulham an d was impressed by how quick they broke on the counter.
maybe we will get further rub of luck with the VAR
We owe that smug bastid Brenda a stuffing.
They have stolen points off us ever since our return to the Prem, so many that I’m sure they are bribing someone, probably Mike Dean, remember him telling Coady he didn’t know what was happening at one half time?
Confidence should be sky high after beating the Arseholes, and three more points in the bag.
Fowb
You know what…when I want to read about football , this is exactly the sort of article that I want to read . It is succinct and balanced . Excellent work mate.
And FOWB also
I would go for a back three we were lucky against Arsenal they could have been three up after 20 minutes and Kilmun and Semedo can not defend in a back four. With a touch of luck 2-1 to the Wolves.
Recently we have never had the rub of the green when playing against Leicester.
I just hope that the rather mammoth buffing of the sward we enjoyed against the boys from the smoke earlier in the week hasn’t used up all our oofle dust for the season.
Kilman certainly drew the short straw when played at left back and I hope it hasn’t affected his confidence, or jeopardised his place in the future Wolves team, because I see him as our long term left of centre back.
If we get a fair break and play sensibly – I would start with a back five – we could well get a result.
How about Jose to score his first goal in a 1-1 draw?
I’ll settle for that.
I wonder if Lady Lucky has decreed that all our remaining good fortune for the season be used with the humiliation of David Luis this week? How I wish we could have all been there at the Molineux to give him a right royal departure. Interestingly, Arsenal’s appeal to overturn the red card has failed, anyone other than Luis and I would have said it was a harsh sending off.
Well said . I felt for Kilman. He was hung out to dry.
We are due a win against these they have been so jammy against us it time we got the jam
There’s a word you don’t here so much now days ” Jammy “. Need to go five at back put Kilman in his right position Jose to get on the score sheet.
Come on me BABIES…!
I think if If Romaine is fit then we could do better than hope for a draw , I think he’s been the most comfortable in that left sided slot , I don’t fear this lot they’ve rarely outplayed us
Its a win for the mighty wolves for me
I’d be happy with that team Thomas although I’m not sure if saise is fit !
I have a feeling that this could be our best performance of the season to date .
We are due some luck finally against this lot and I fancy a win here.
With the help of a penalty and a first of many for Jose my money is on a 3-2 to the boys .
Utw
So , that’s 3-2 then !!
How a team with Evans in the team can be 3rd I will never know. What a donkey
Agree with everyone else. We are due some luck against Leicester. I am in the Nick camp in growing to hate the smug tossers and their VAR decisions. We were completely outplayed by arsrole and shaky was not the word. Let’s hope we turn up, and give them a game, with a tincey wincey slice of good luck to boot. Come on boys we’ve turned the corner let’s kick in.
Hopefully a bit of confidence has been instilled after our last game and we can go on a bit of a run,or at least, accumulate a few much needed points, over the next few games.
Two wins on the bounce would be a great start .
Got a feeling that Jose will get off the mark in this one with an assist from Traore.
There’s a lot of goals in this Leicester team, and their away form is good. If we can keep Maddison – a talented but intensely irritating player – quite then we’re in with a shout. I’m not too confident though…
Will be happy with a back 4 if Saiss is fit, it not go to 3 with Semedo LWB in the enforced absence of our 3 specialists in that position. Don’t think Cody has a future in a 4 though, not commanding or pacey enough in that role. Must pack the midfield for Maddison has consistently bossed that area and pulls the strings ( should have bought him when he left Norwich) -they clearly have the forwards to capitalise. Disappointed that Arsenal were able to overload our FBs so readily, get telling balls into the box which as we know can take a deflection, resulting in chances. Feeling positive though, and as previously posted, we tend not to get overrun by ‘lucky Leicester’. I just find Rogers is as irritating as Mourinho. Everyone needs to be on their A game, full concentration and we can win it- only then will I be persuaded that we have turned the proverbial corner.
I truly believe nuno has abandoned 3 at the back and even though it was painfully obvious it wasnt working against the arsenal he persisted with it …stubborn or what !
lady luck went with us and we scraped the win ..will we be as lucky this time round ?
Arteta had worked it out pretty quickly and rogers will have done the same so its up to the forwards to get their collective fingers out and score more than they do .
Cant see it best bet a draw if we are lucky.
Impossible to say what our team will be given Nuno’s recent statement re ‘problems’. Clearly, when playing the 3/5 defence we can handle Leicester, but has the ‘team-meeting’ determined that we consistently play 4 at the back ? Iheanacho is almost as quick as Vardy so whichever plays we will face the same problem. I’d be surprised f they don’t target our LB given that whoever plays there will not be a ‘natural’ in that position and in Albrighton and Pereira they have the ideal players to take advantage of that. I’d be happy with a draw in this one, but would like to see José get off the mark.
Great result, if nothing else, last game. Another hard game this, and it’s the usual from me. Love a win, take a draw, expect a defeat…
Yes. I like your approach Mildenhall and, given that we’re still struggling to score ourselves and also still far from secure defensively, I’m also going for a defeat, but 1 goal worse than your own scorecast.
Decision to be made in formation at the back and I certainly believe we should start with a back 3 and perhaps go to a back four in the second half. Tough game to get a result but we are looking a bit better in attack so things could happen for us.
Talking about decisions, I see our three loanees with an option to buy in the summer, Jose, Vitania and Air Nouri, all will cost about 20 M each. To spend 60 M in the summer and the quality of the team remains unchanged will not work! Unless we do an Adobe and buy them and then sell them right away! Needs some thought!
With a fully fit squad St Kitts, the players you mentioned and the fact they’ll have that bit more experience – plus our sensible habit of Try before you Buy which might see one or two more come in, I’d say the future’s not looking too bad at all.
3 goals wiped off for marginal offsides and final minute winner
I fully believe Wolves will turn this season around once injured players start returning. We’re going to be ok, no doubt in my mind. But I am a little concerned still with our injuries situation, especially not knowing what’s really happening at left back. I think this game comes a little too soon for us. I hope i’m wrong.
Absolutely right GoWolves. I thing the absence of Otto has become our Achilles Heel.
This area is frequently the target by opposition teams. Otto played as a wingback with a back three. He reads the game well and is very comfortable in that position. He is missed nearly as much as Jiminez.
Pretty impossible to predict this. I’m not even sure what team id play but I think id go with a back 3. Leicester are a good team and I probably fear the worst. id take point all day anything more would be a great result
Lady luck surely wouldn`t let Leicester miss their chances or give us a penalty with the defender sent off, two matches on the trot.
The high press against Arsenal was a complete waste of time, decent premiership players can play round the pressing players and then we have no midfield defensive cover. Leicesters` midfield is so much more pacey than ours, and I`m praying that Vardy isn`t quite ready for the game. Even the Leicester fans comments said Moutineo`s legs had gone, its that obvious.
Can`t play Saiss as a left back he has no pace either, so my hope is we go with a 3 man defence and wingbacks, a flat back four would be a disaster against this lot. We got lucky against Arsenal, surely cant happen 2 matches running.
There is a chance we can get something out of he game, so another 2-1 win for me, depends so much on our formation on the day though.
I dislike intensely these games v Foxes. They seem to get all the decisions lately.
We are still looking fragile. Also not keeping possession for long enough, imo. And we need to pick the pace up. Perhaps take a few risks going forward, especially Adama, who should go it alone once or twice (I know I’m contradicting my “keep possession line” – but who said fans have to be consistent!)
Would love a win, especially for my little bro’, who has to put up with his father-in-law crowing (or that horrible noise foxes make by the bins) when Leicester win.
Probably would settle for a draw but never a loss.
Don’t let Arsenal result cloud your judgement on this one, we are bang average this year and
if they score first we will get beat quite comfortably ! Hope for a draw but I cannot see it !
Hurry up Jonny to stiffen up our poor wing back options !
A decent looking team although I’m happier with a back 3.
We need three in the middle of the park and Dendonker gives us something the others don’t plus he’s getting into the right positions and has to get on the score sheet soon. That only leaves two up front and I’d go Willian and Neto.
Sadly I don’t see Leicester letting us off the hook like Arse did.
IF we could figure out how to defend and go forward in the same match then I’d be more confident.
We’re starting to look like we might be able to score again but the thought of playing a 4 after that first half horror show last time out fills me with dread.
I’m still convinced we’ll be fine in the long run but in the short term against teams like Leicester I just don’t think we’re playing well enough.
I’d go 3 at the back but I’ve not a clue regarding personnel. You trade flair for solidity and need more flair.
Given their twelfth man in Stockley park I think we’d need 13 on the pitch to win.
But for better or worse, thick and thin I’m a Wolves fan and I try to stay optimistic.
While the 3 points were welcome against Arsenal, Leicester are a different proposition. Sadly , I can’t see us getting any joy on Sunday.
Sadly I agree. Very much enjoyed the Arsenal game (one of the most unlikely wins I’ve watched) but WW were abject for the first 30 mins. This lot are more clinical upfront and don’t have an idiot wandering around their box giving penalties away freely.
So who thinks nuno has sort of written this season off as a learning season one where he teaches his troops how to defend in a four and then be able to switch with the click of fingers to a three and be truly comfortable in both formations a la man city.
I get the impression thats whats happening and he is honing his squad for a real assault next season when we have the fans back in the stadiums and it all becomes real again.
We have more than enough to stay comfortably in the league .. he knows that so with real game time practice and a proper pre season a few more quality additions in the summer i think wolves will be there and ready for a superb 21/22 attack at the top four.
It does mean we will struggle at times which we do but as bewildered as we are wondering whats going on i see this as a good enough reason as to why things dont seem as they should and nuno hasnt lost the plot overnight like some would have us believe .
Put your money on wolves next season i can feel it in my water.
Yes spikey I have said similar myself about this season.
If at the end of the season, nuno knows what the players are capable of it will make recruitment a lot clearer.
I would have liked a better season but sometimes you have to take a step back in order to move forward again and I think that’s what we will do.
All the great teams are adaptable , Leicester themselves seem to change formation at will and get results.
We had such success with five at the back but it did get boring last season, particularly when we couldn’t break down teams at the bottom.
Funnily enough, other teams are using five at the back to grind out results and pickup points and fair play to them but ultimately we need to be adaptable to get to the next level IMO
It shouldn’t mean the end for players like coady though, it would just mean he and others don’t play as much .
This will need a bigger squad though which will be the interesting bit .
If we are in the bottom half of the league, some players will want to leave for more game time, but if we are top 6-8 and in Europe they will happily spen a few games on the bench
I’m already looking forward to next season tbh
Utw
Would take a draw right now without a shadow of a doubt. The 3 points against arsenal were great but we should not kid ourselves that if they had Kept 11on the pitch we would have been highly unlikely to have beaten them . Leicester are a better team than arsenal so if we get a draw that will be a very credible result.
Certainly I’m more optimistic than this time last week but Leicester are where I thought we would be . Sadly our season has not gone as well as any of us had hoped. I’m predicting a draw more out of hope than expectation. Playing four at the back leaves too many spaces and with or without Vardy, we will concede more than we can score. I like Thomas’ selection and that team might just nick a win.
Bit too much for us this one I think. Hope I’m wrong.
God that was a much need win but we where far from convincing, Arsenal should have been 4 up in the first half but that said we did grow into the game after they scored so who knows what might have happened if they scored earlier. Whatever shape we play the left back\ wing back will be a problem until one of the injured players return. Rumors of a Podence injury so i would not be against a 3 man midfield as Leicester could have an extra man in there. Looks like they will have Vardy and Ndidi back so that only makes our job harder but the Arsenal win has given us a bit of breathing space. Anything we get will be a bonus. Hopefully a couple of the injured players are available for the cup game.
There are plenty of things that annoy fans in football including of course the current hot topics of VAR and inconsistent ref’s.
One thing that irks me is the regularity of pundits etc saying such and such a team should have been 3, 4 or 5 up if they’d taken their chances.
No no and no again because once a goal is scored the dynamic of a game completely changes. How many matches do we have to see to know this is true?
As all above have pointed out I am not expecting anything out of this one. Has to be a back 3/5 with wingbacks.
Hope for a win, take a draw, expect a defeat ( as above)
I doubt if we can prevent them scoring at least one goal, certainly if Vardy plays, but, if, a big if, we can make and take a couple of chances we may just have the new found confidence to win it, against the odds.
After recent results I really have no idea what the result will be on Sunday. 0-0? 4-4? 3-1? 0-3?
Have to go with my head which says Leicester will win but if Neves plays like can, if Willian Jose scores, if Traore and Neto are on fire?
OODCL
Easy to predict. 3-0 down at half time then ……. boom.
I see Shaquiri has been criticised for being too static and not getting about the pitch.
Remind you of anyone?
As for the Leicester match, it is interesting to see a considered , even guarded collection of predictions on this site , rather than simply irrationally over optimistic ones. Certainly, Leicester are a very good side. However, we do seem to have better outcomes against teams towards the top of the League.
Ok
I’m with spikeyboy and marney
This is turning out to be a season of experimentation and I’m still thinking we are in a bad patch…. but for last 10-12 games we will be fine… likely 50 points and maybe another good cup run
Let’s stay positive in starting team selection … soon Jonny will be back and expect new Willian to get some goals
What a season… these predictions are feeling more and more like a dumb guess…
I vote back 3 too. Boly Coady, Saiss (if available). If we switch to a back 4, chasing the game, I wonder how Semedo would fit at AM. Like most of this season, I am at a loss to predict confidently, so once again will sit on a fence and predict a draw (mainly because I think both teams would be fairly happy with such a result).
Following the amazing win against the Gooners I am hoping our confidence will start to build again however everyone seems to agree that the Gooners should have scored three or four goals and that keeps the alarm bells ringing for me. They are our biggest bogey team and as they always get the VAR decisions going for them I don’t think we will get anything out of the game except a decent performance.
Wolves 1 – 2 Leicester
I’m always concerned when Nuno goes with a back four and last week was no exception. And for very nearly forty five minutes my anxiety proved to be justified as Arsenal blew us of the park. Whether Jose would have scored if Luiz hadn’t been correctly judged to have fouled and been sent off (I’ve really enjoyed all the Goonar moaning, especially from such unbiased pundits as Ian Wright) we’ll never know.
If we go 3/5 it will I think give us a better chance against a very good Leicester, especially as we’re without a recognised LB.
If for once the VAR gods and lady luck are on our side we may win. I hope so.
.
Hopeful
I’m hopeful too.
Hoping we can keep it down to 0-1
Few of us will be kidding ourselves that the Arsenal win means our issues are behind us. Without the return of a career left wing-back we will continue to be targeted down that side and I feel it foolhardy indeed to play the four at the back at the moment.
The recruitment of Willian Jose brings much hope to my heart and with a better understanding growing between he and his fellow frontmen, a much more promising second half of the season should be on the cards. Not much was said about his shot against the Arse which, although it went straight down Leno’s throat, had enough power to supply 1,000 Wolverhampton homes. More of the same please.
We have the right to hope that a corner has been turned, confidence wise, and that can result in, if not a win, then at least a battling performance worthy of our great club.
Even if weasel Vardy is back he won’t be 100%.
Getting a bit pissed off with a lot of comments about Arsenal should have scored 3 or 4 before half time.
There is no such thing as should have.
They didn’t.
End of.
Their problem, not ours.
I should have won the lottery last week.
I didn’t.
End of.
My problem, no one else’s.
(Helps if I actually buy a ticket )
There are myriad reasons why they didn’t score more than one, not least our resolute, and yes, sometimes desperate defence.
Point is, just coz they were all over us like a cheap suit for a while, doesn’t give them any sort of top six divine right to score, nor for us to roll over and play dead.
If the ball dough goo in the net, it ay a goal.
Anyway, I expect Brenda to be ringing the excuse hot line tomorrow, wringing his hands in despair.
5-1, 4-0……
Yer at it again aintcha!
No
Me?
Never!
I read Jonny back in full training. Good news obviously – would Nuno consider risking him given the complete lack of an alternative?
Great result last weekend. Timing wise it was kind of result that can turn around a season. Perhaps unfortunate then that Leicester are next up because they are dangerous and we’ve not had the best of it against them in the last few seasons. I’m at least hoping that Willian nets if only to get him off the mark and running for fixtures to come.
Predication wise – I have to think that the Foxes will be too strong for us.
Leicester celebrating probable choice Semedo playing to give them at least one goal..negative boy I am ..time to
See our new man get 3 up front with Traore and netto doing the damage..
or Neves a pearler before being yellow carded and then banned later..
Love to see linikers face drop tonight..
we could do this ..
COYW
While we have certainly been below par this season – with reasons of course – I don’t think we should underestimate the effect that the empty stadiums are having. Hardly anyone is showing consistency and the results are all over the place. The last six form shows that only three teams have scored more than 11 points out of 18. One of them is WHU and the other – sadly – is Leicester. The top six on last six match results include BHA, who in the full table are fifteenth. I don’t think there’s ever a sure thing in football, but currently a good proportion of the results seem as unexpected as the tombola prizes at a church fete.
So – nil desperandum as some say, anything could happen. I ‘m going for VAR to let Leicester down for once and for us to win 3-1. (I haven’t forgotten btw that others say semper in excreta!)

Just watched the England rugby team marmalised by Stu’s lot…. Veela winning… Newcastle picking up three points.
Not a good start to the weekend.
Greasy on football focus on about going back to Villa glory days. ….. which was in Queen Victoria reign. Oh. Apart from 1982.
Gonna be the hounds getting the fox tomorrow.
This is our moment!(hopefully) 🙂
Well according to some on the Blog we are about to play vintage Pele inspired Brazil. But no. It’s Leicester City. The same team who took 15 points from their last 15 games last season. Relegation form? Social media meltdown. Sound familiar? The team turned over 3-1 by mid table Leeds in their last home game. The team who couldn’t create a meaningful chance against us in the last 3 matches we have played them. Ludicrous VAR penalty aside. As for our hapless defenders . Man Utd and Chelsea away – 82 goals between them. Never had a sniff apart from the 94th min Rashford deflection. So. To the match tomorrow. Stockley Park will deploy the officials in a mobile unit due to social distancing. But being as it is Leicester the mobile VAR unit will be parked in the Leicester goal behind Casper thingy. Luckily a lighting raid by Adama will generate enough friction to set fire to the unit and force VAR to flee. Ensuring WWFC will not be subject to any more ridiculous VAR calls. As the plot is foiled Brendan loses his head and this severe anxiety generates to his players who lose the plot. WWFC take control and assume an easy 3-1 victory. After the match VAR issued a statement “it is with great regret that our mobile VAR unit burst in to flames but what can you do. We dont accept that the unit being deployed in the Leicester goal was unfair in any way. VAR is always fair to Wolves as well. But not quite as much as Leicester. Lessons will be learned. Maybe next time we will invite Brendan in to make a few decisions”. WWFC 3 Foxes 1. FOWB. FWAW.
I’d be very surprised if we deployed a back 4…….reason being two fold …
If Vardy plays… he’s the only front man… so three managing him has always worked…
And of all the times we’ve played Leicester in the PL , they’ve never gone close to scoring, when we’ve played 3 at the back…. barring last years memorable VAR decision at the Kingpower …..(Kilman’s handball and the resultant penalty).
It will take another big effort of course but I think we’ve got the measure of the Foxes.
I do hope that we don’t just sit back because I think they’ve got weaknesses too, which Neto and Traore could exploit.
I’m worried about Martin Atkinson as the referee as I’m not his biggest admirer and he is certainly inconsistent as a ref… match to match.
Let’s tough it out and hope for a break…
The only problem is that all our injuries may force Nuno’s hand and necessitate a back four.
I hope your right Cheesey ! Could do with another three points to bring my blood pressure down.
Please Dr Nino revert to a back three . I lost my voice shouting soo much at Killman . He was utterly hopeless as a left back . Can’t say much either about Nelson either. He had torrid time against Pepe.
Jose to score his wolves debut
COYW
And me mate. Wouldn’t bank on it. Think I only got 2 predictions right all season. Loff ay it. FWAW.
Will VAR spoil the show, as usual?
How many penalties will Leicester get this time?
I just hope that the Arsenal second half gives us a massive boost in confidence and belief. Hearing plenty of rumours about further injuries, so who knows what the starting team will be. The midfield battle ground will be key. I just hope we can give good service to Jose who looks quality. Be a good game to open his account with a couple of goals, or is that just being greedy!
Many years ago I had a Ford Cortina. Nowt unusual in that you may ask except …..it had a yellow exterior (nearest to gold I could get) and black interior! The reg was NHA661P. That dates it!
Whilst I have absolutely no interest in lumps of metal, the vague similarity to the Wolves strip meant it was on the button for Wolves trips.
In 1977-78 Wolves were back in the top flight which had started well – opening day 3-2 victory at Ashton Gate where Wolves fans wrecked the football special (a fire extinguisher went flying past our window as we played three card brag, followed by a toilet door then the pan) then we celebrated a 1-0 home win over QPR (Richards) .
After the QPR fixture I arrived back the car that was parked on a small car park at the top end of Waterloo Road and the radio had been ripped out along with the beaded seat covers (remember those?) and my tool box was also nicked. I Reported the theft at Dunstall nick but in those days as Wolverhampton was the car crime capital of the UK, I may as well pissed in the wind.
What’s this got to do with Leicester?
Well sod all really except a few weeks later we played The Foxes at Molineux and won 3-0. John Richards scored all three which I think was his last hat trick for Wolves.
Instead of catching the 58 bus from Sedgley as I usually did, I decided to drive and in the passenger seat was “The Bit” aka “The Stick” who worked for Dudley Council as a bin man but was sacked along with his crew after a chief of the works spotted their bin wagon parked up at the rear of the Castle pub in Dudley. Inside supping Julia Hanson’s lovely mild and bitter ale was “The Bit” and his buddies, instead that is of collecting the garbage from Dudley market. Hence the dole queue beckoned. Retribution was swift!
Mind you “the Bit” had a cultured left foot (like me) and he was an asset to our team.
Consequently I picked him up for the Leicester home fixture and volunteered to pay for the day. Trouble is – he could drink. And I mean drink. Despite being 9 stone ringing wet, he put it away like no other person I ever knew. Ever. He once challenged “big Stan” to a pint of ale drinking competition at the Crown pub in Sedgley. A Banks boozer. Stan was about 19 stone. We all watched fascinated as they went at it. Pint after pint after pint. After pint. After pint. And “The Bit” smoked – Park Drive. None-tipped. Cancer sticks along with Woodbine and Capstan Full Strength. He kept a fag in his mouth when lit so the smoke curled up his nostrils and left a dark brown stain above his upper lip. From a distance he looked like Adolf. His nicotine stained fingers resembled someone who had shoved their finger up their arse on the verge of diarrhoea.
I took out a mortgage to pay for his beer. Wolves won 3-0 and in memory of John Richards and “The Bit” and for absolutely no other reason or logic, I go for the same score tomorrow.

Great post as always old gold .
I was in the south bank as a very young man for that qpr game so it brought back a few memories.
Halo, halo
Wanderers are back
Wanderers are back
Cheers Marney
Great to reminisce sometimes. At least we have memories!!
Much better performance today and I thought we really should have sealed it as we had a number of opportunities. Nevertheless it’s a good point against a form team.
Neto and Traore created havoc at times – Neto especially in the first half ran them ragged.
All the best
BOG
Rumour has it Danny the Pod is out for a bit.
Other rumour has it wee Jonny Otto will be in a back five tomorrow. If this is true Clive from Texas Black Country will be a very happy bunny.
And poor old OGS let in a Fergie time equalizer!
Ha ha
Back 5 seems to keep them out of it. Next thing to consider have we gone 1-0 up or has VAR fucked us over. Ludicrous hand balls. Ludicrous off sides. Sooner or later…
Hoping that the fortunate win against Arsenal gives the team some confidence.
I think Jose will score this game with an assist by Neto.
We “always” have the wood over Crystal Palace… until last week.
Foxes seem to get all the breaks against us… until this week – if only it worked like that.
I have heard the same rumour as Clive, hope the second half of it is true at least.
3 at the back please Nuno then we stand a chance.
The win prediction against arse was my first prediction for ages.
In fact my total predictions all season are less than what Cliove has predicted for this match.
Lucky socks and lucky prediction and please play back three.
3 at back for me
Agree Baz with both your comment and prediction
Last two times I’ve predicted defeat we’ve won so who the hell knows.
I expect a close game, would like a win but expect a defeat. Probably due to a pen engineered by that reptile Vardy.
Reptile on bench, but no Willy!
Worried now, as we are playing a Willyless back four.
COMBs!
If Semedo was a contestant on a certain game show, Anne Robinson would have said, Nelson Semedo, you are the weakest link! Based on the Arsenal match, Kilman would have run him a close second. I don’t blame Kilman for one moment, he was playing out of position and he cost us peanuts as a part-timer from non-league Maidenhead. He only played part-time to keep fit for that strange version of soccer called Futbol. Long-term, Kilman will be a major player for us. As for Semedo, he’s only a half-Nelson at best as a defender. Plus he cost us squillions from Barcelona. He looks more of an asset higher up the pitch. Maybe he would do a better job deputising for Podence?
I’ve no idea of the best line up today. Even if Jonny and Saiss were fit, they wouldn’t be match sharp, so it’s very difficult to make predictions even if we know what the team-sheet is.. Whatever, I’ve still taken BetVictor up on a couple of generous odds. Wolves to win at 7/1 and ditto with BTTS at 11/4. I don’t think a Wolves win is such a long shot as suggested by 7/1 odds. That doesn’t mean I think we will win but I may as well go for it .Maybe the bookies’ odds will make Leicester over-confident!
With or without Semedo, we need Wolves to take heart from the Arsenal result and play as we know we can play, like we can beat anyone on our day. Maybe lady luck has finally turned for us. Traore was beginning to really impose himself against Arsenal, and panicked their keeper into a red card. I simply can’t imagine that a front three of Neto, Jose and Traore will not pose a massive threat to Leicester if we are playing at anything like out best. Sadly our defence might be more of a threat to ourselves, so I’m forecasting that we will have to out-score Leicester. 3-2 Wolves.
Surely VAR has to go in our favour at some point against Leicester?
Narrow win.
COYW
Holy Moses… no Boly…… or on the Bench…..
Can I change my prediction?
So, it looks as if Podence is out for quite a while, adductor, and Willy Boly is a doubt! Jonny may be back, which solves the wing back problem to some extent I prefer a back three at present, but who will be put in there, Hoever, perhaps. We are getting awfully short of players and I hate to be pessimistic but I really can’t see us doing an `Arsenal` again. A great problem is that we have lots of tough games coming up; a bit like the Championship run of games without the larger squad with a good choice of strikers that we usually had. Other teams are having similar problems but, often, with larger squads.
It’s time to dig in and support the lads as it’s going to be difficult. I thought Semedo and Coady messed up for the Arsenal goal but, apart from that, I thought he had a sound game; just my opinion in respect of defending the latest scapegoat. Kilman cannot play left back against quick wingers in the future. I hope Jonny can play for some good amount of time today, although we have to take care that he does not break down physically. Please have three in the centre of midfield, at least to start with…
2-3 to Leicester, I’m afraid. Never done that before so I hope I’m badly mistaken…
Not looking promising.
Bolly out with Hamstring
Poddy out 6 weeks.
Jonny back… Right now I would take a point
Assuming its a 3-4-3 we should be able to avoid an open game and play on the break as they will probably dominate possession.
Sneaking in under the wire. Can’t predict against, so…
Ruh roh! Looks like I missed the train by a few minutes. Sorry. Please disregard my prediction.
We would have taken 4 points from the last 2 games two weeks ago.
Haspy with the point 12 points from bottom 3.
Fat boy ince can’t say jimmy needs to leave for a big club anymore so he has started on Neto !!
What’s his problem with wolves! Didn’t we give him enough kebabs in his last cash grab year .
Utw
He didn’t get the manager’s job,- twice.
Correct PJB…..
Sour grapes…..
I knew for a fact he used to get the younger players during his time to open the doors to the players lounge for him….
Absolutely arrogant beyond belief ……
Will take a point all day long against a good opposition team ! Hope Jonny is OK looked
so solid first half with him back ! Could have won it if Silva had done his job ! Less said the
better about him !!
That was going in, just inside the post. Good save in my opinion and he got closer than Jose all game. We don’t score enough goals collectively, so I don’t agree when Fabio seems to get higher scrutiny than all other players, from some on here.
I don’t necessarily agree with LP’s comments but higher scrutiny will always come with such a high price tag and commensurately high wages, as it does with Semedo (who apart from an excellent tackle near the end was pretty average yet again).
You think Semedo was bad – see Alexander Arnold; responsible for a penalty and a goal this afternoon. Give our man a break. He had some very good moments today.
Read what I said which was that he was pretty average. Watch it again if you don’t agree. Don’t put words into my mouth which aren’t there. What’s Alexander Arnold got to do with it?
I thought that Samedo proved all his detractors wrong today
I thought that the price tag would come up. If everyone cost the same it would just come down to scrutinising ability, experience, shooting, performance etc. The money makes no difference on the pitch. That element of his transfer was not his decision. After that, all your left with is an inexperienced forward who has masses of potential, has scored a couple, but lacks things at his young age, to be what we need in our current situation. Again not his decision. I think if we didn’t have a world class striker already in Jiminez, and then spent 35m on Silva, I would agree with the criticism. But not under these circumstances, not for me anyway. He’s not been good enough yes, but that’s why Jose has arrived. Neves missed a few in the game…. wasted a good free kick. But he was a bargain, so let him off by the same logic.
Fabio was 35m, which is a lot of money to us, but people find it too easy to jump on him for things, in this instance, getting a shot on target of all things! And then saying things like, he wouldn’t make it into a Sunday league team, which he definitely would. Now that’s scrutiny gone mad. Just my opinion.
I’m happy to cut the lad some slack, he got into position and it was a really good save by Schmeichel. He also tracked back and is a good link player. The transfer fee is high, but not his fault at 18.
He did his job, kicked the ball toward the corner of the goal, but unluckily for us their goalkeeper also did his job, and stuck out a leg..plenty other misses, from Neves, Moutino, etc. Fabio will come good…..
Should have won, could have lost. Better attitude and more confidence than in recent games. It looked more like our Wolves , the starting eleven looked solid at the back and lively down the sides. Still a hole where a number 9 should be but WJ is our best hope. Take the point and move on to Southampton .
Two points dropped.
Ah, that’s how you win the prediction league! Looks like I’m not the only one with hindsight.
Take the positives a clean sheet and probably had the better chances. Some naive moments at the end to give vardy the chance to steal it but still another improved performance.
The other more long term positive is that Leicester are a team that have been and are firmly in that pack of top 6 chasing top 4 sides for the past few years and but for VARs intervention we’d have a really positive results record against them. We have he team to match most in the league we just desperately need to improve our record against sides in the bottom half of the table to really start consistently challenging for European football season after season.
Sound like a familiar story?
Much better Wolves ! Well done
Anyone else love watching Liverpool get spanked … ??not so much that I hate Liverpool but I can’t stand the fu@&@g has beens constantly waxing lyricsal about them even when the match you are watching is two completely different teams .
Have made my views known about Silva on this blog many times in the past so as
stated the less said the better. Think it is time Neto took over all corners and free kicks.
Neves and Mountino have have their chance with a very poor return. Our corners are a joke.
Just deliver directly especially against Leicester who have a poor record on defending against set pieces. Mountino still seams reluctant to shoot which is odd when you remember his
worldie of last week.Neves constantly skying balls over the bar. As a pair they don’t score often enough ! Dendonker fitted in seamlessly so no worries there.
Hi
I found your blogpost while searching for UK topic.. This article helps me to include interesting facts in my post. It almost took 15 days to write. It’s about “Safest and Cheapest places to live in UK”. It wouldn’t have been possible without your help, so I just wanted to say thanks.
Thanks
