The one thing Wolves haven’t managed yet is a long winning run.
Mick McCarthy’s title success in 2008 was underpinned by two runs of seven consecutive victories in the first half of the season.
His team limped and struggled down the final straight, but the gap they’d created with that lightening start proved the difference.
To be clear, I’m not complaining.
Even if Wolves lose tomorrow, they’ll still have won two thirds of their games and the current points average will see them blow away Mick’s 90 point haul.
But if we can add to this current sequence while the going is good, it just gives us some breathing space if the sticky patch ever arrives.
Leeds
Talking of sequences, Leeds were on a stinker prior to Sunday having lost three on the spin to send them spiralling towards midtable.
In fact, based on the last 10 matches they’d be in the relegation zone such has been their fall from grace after briefly reaching the summit in September.
But a good win over Middlesbrough at the weekend, made all the sweeter by getting one over former boss Gary Monk, might be the catalyst for a comeback.
Goal difference is the only thing keeping them out of the play-off places so it’s all up for grabs again.
As is increasingly the fashion in the Championship, they’ve shaped their team with foreign talent and I’m looking forward to seeing Sáiz and Lasogga (if fit) in particular. I’ve heard good things.
Away from Elland Road they’ve won 4, lost 4, scored 12, conceded 12, so do with that information what you will. Maybe they’re due a draw?
Wolves
Injuries are as crucial to a promotion push as anything else. If you keep your best players fit, half the battle is won. In that sense, it’s nice that Nuno is still playing with a full deck.

The main decision is whether to bring Douglas back in for Vinagre after his suspension. The Scot was instrumental in the win over Fulham in our last home game, so I imagine he’ll play.
There must be a temptation to try Costa again from the start after using him sparingly to rebuild fitness and confidence?
Flashes of last season’s Player of the Season won’t have gone unnoticed by Nuno. But then again, if it ain’t broke, why fix it?
Betting
If you fancy a flutter on a fourth consecutive Wolves win, you can get 11/20 at 888 Sport according to the Bookmaker Advisor. Their key bet, interestingly, is a Wolves win with less than 3 goals scored. Visit the site for a full preview for the game.
Predictions
I suspect this might be a draw and I wouldn’t be overly upset by a 4 point return from the next two matches.
But like everyone else I’m buoyed by how things continue to shape up so have to back us for another win.
Leeds are a decent side and will bring a big crowd as always so it should be a good battle, but 2-1 to us.
Up The Wolves!

By the time I press the Post Comment button I won’t be the first to post, so I won’t say I am.
I will be there tomorrow, and am looking forward to it. I will get home after 0100 hrs but will still be smiling as we would have beaten Leeds 2-0.
I love clean sheets.
Wolverhampton Wanderers 2
Leeds United 0
I was ………………………….. yahoo .
Well done Brompton (on going tonight, not on being the first comment). Tonight is my mother-in-law’s birthday so difficult for me to cut and run.
Just as well that I wont be on the South Bank later. Being stood within five meters of Andy Lonergan for 45 minutes really would bring out the worst in me as a football fan!
Very nervous about tonight but not sure why.
The ref tonight is STEVE MARTIN, the hopeless little man from the Preston game/debacle. How is he still referring at this level?
Oh Bollox no …. I had to go and water the horse after 55 mins in that game as he was getting me infuriatingly miffed ..
I think some more beta blockers might be in order …
Costa in for Jota on Saturday. Needs a little break.
Get down the mol and make some noise.
The run continues ….. I hope and believe ….. but not the clean sheets.
COYW
I’m not alone in saying this. I hate Leeds. Or Dirty Leeds to give them their true title. Hate them for what they were back in the cheating, bribing Revie days and hate them for what they are now, a sad club with moronic Neanderthal fans.
I watched them on Sunday on TV beat Middlesborough and thought they were very average. Big ‘kick anything that moves’ defenders and second rate foreign forwards who seem to think that dying your hair blond and having a ‘sharp’ haircut makes you a footballer (see picture above as perfect example). They also seem to like moaning and whinging to the referee – I would say ‘crying like little girls’ but in the current climate I’d probably be arrested for sexual harassment or something similar. Therefore a strong referee who knows what he is doing is vital I think.
We will be too good for them of course. We are too good for everyone in this league. I was going to go for a fourth straight 2-0 win but that seems too obvious so am going for a 1-0 win even though I believe we are a 1,000 times better than Dirty Leeds.
p.s. THOMAS – PLEASE NOTE THIS PREDICTION! IF YOU CAN FIND MY MISSING 4 PREDICTIONS AND UPDATE THE PREDICTION LEAGUE ACCORDINGLY THAT WOULD BE SUPER OLD BEAN.
OODCL
What a charmless, arrogant individual Bedford Wolf is, doing his club no favours. As a veteran of standing on the South Bank in the 1970s, I don’t feel the need for instruction on neanderthal behaviour from a Wolves fan. As it is, I know a few Wolves boys, and they’re all good lads, enjoying your time in the spotlight, and why not?
I’m a Leeds fan, but fear you’ve got something special going on this season. That front line is awesome! Still, live in hope!
Wilko54 – I am a Wolves fan which is why I am on here. As you are a Leeds fan why are you on here? I also speak the truth as I see it and my words are based on personal experiences down the years against Leeds going back to the late 1960’s. If you don’t like it then don’t come on here and don’t read things you don’t like. I will treasure the irony of being labelled arrogant and charmless by a Leeds fan though so thank you for that.
Thomas, I’m inclined to think the Leeds win against Boro was a false dawn for them due to the needle factor with Garry Monk. Unless there is an upset, we will have too much for Leeds.
Costa had a great little Peter Broadbent-ish dribble against Reading, looking like he is getting his best form back. I think Nuno will give him more than a cameo against Leeds. Ordinarily the long loss from injury to our best player would have been fatal in the past, but it’s a measure of how far we have come this season that we’ve hardly missed him. And, arguably we have even better players now.
I’d love to go for a Clive Five but I’ll stick to my usual. Wolves 2, Damned United 0.
Wilko,
Many moons ago I had insulting treatment on this blog, and I turned the other cheek, mainly because it was apparent that the insulters were braindead little pricks with no life.
Seems that category has another inmate.
You have no right to slag off anyone without knowing them.
I promised I would not lower myself into the gutter to respond in kind to badmouthing by morons, and I still wont, when its me getting a slagging.
However, I will come to the defense of a good friend, who is quite capable of defending himself by the way, and so basically, pick a vowel
“G* F*ck Y**rs*lf”
You have really proved to be what you say you aren’t.
I have no qualms or reservations about telling you to fuck off our site, back to Neanderthal land, along with your fellow scum.
I know I will not get much abuse from you lot, as the majority are unable to read.
As to tomorrow night, I hope you fuckers know how to use an abacus, coz you are gonna need one to keep up with the cricket score descending upon you.
Fuck you, fuck bremner, revie and all the cheating bribing ex players from the same era.
Remember winning the cup, and coming to The Molineux two days later, for the formality of beating us and getting the double?
How did that work out for you?
FOwb & lu
I think that this is the good run 3 wins on the trot with another 4 or 5 to come would be great up to christmas. 2-0 to wolves
I’ve been predicting 2-0 for ages and fair play to the lads, they’ve come up trumps in the last four ties.
I reckon tomorrow will be a bit different.
I don’t think dirty Leeds will be able to keep the lid on us if they leave as much room on the flanks as they did on tv against Boro.
If Nuno wishes, he can utilise our wingers and wing backs to unleash hell on the Leeds defence and thus step forward Leo and Diogo, Cav and…well, whoever’s forward at the time.
I reckon it’ll be three at least. As for; can they breach the defence?…… do I really need to go into that one?
Wishing me life away for tomorrow!
UTW
I think Leeds win over Middlesborough was a blip. As we know every so often you win in this division when your current form says you shoudn’t and this was an example. So I’m going with Wolves and sticking with 2-0 because that’s my best guess and it keeps working for me.
Hope the ref is strong and punishes those dirty Leeds thugs. There will be cards, red and yellow , as they try to contain our classy forwards by hacking them down or whatever. We are too good for them, going forward and defending. We just have to keep our cool and not get involved in a kicking contest. COYW
Oh good grief what a lifestyle. Are all these workmates Wolves fans.
As long as we get the first goal tomorrow we will go on and win. Their confidence is brittle. Watched them at Brentford on tv and they are very poor when dealing with pace.
Should be a further 3 points adding to an already great 3 months+ of exciting football. We really are on a roll and everyone is enjoying the ride. The odd blip may occur during the season but when we are picking up all the points when we are not at our best, who the hell is going to stop the train – no-one.
Mustn’t underestimate the challenge of playing so many games and so frequently. There will be times when it doesn’t quite flow or we are just out of sorts. Meanwhile teams like Reading and Leeds who are currently performing below expectations will see their game with us as an opportunity to galvanise effort and get their season back on track. With these circumstances we may slip occasionally, but regardless, we are now the real deal and whether we string long unbeaten runs together or not this manager will use the squad to override blips, maintain self belief and keep minds focused on the job in hand. They may know they are Champions League quality but I know they will treat this league with the respect it deserves. A containment job against Leeds. A numerically narrow but definitive win.
I can’t bring myself to hate Leeds as much as I used to, must be getting old. Still looking forward to what should be a good game with a very predictable result. Bonatini to grab at least one, for Christ’s sake he let me down last week.
As we play the ball on the ground in the expected wet and windy conditions our class will shine through.
Plaque say’s it all
Come on lads!
Calm down!
As far as I’m concerned everybody has a right to voice their opinion on the best football blog on the inter web.
I, amongst some others, took a load of stick from a certain young lady(?!) called Amanda last season and tried to reply with a bit of humour.
It’s only a game.
But it IS against Leeds! The cheat…..
Ooops! I nearly went off on one there!
After seeing Robert Plant give a stonking performance last night at The Civic Hall (and he only mentioned us being top of the league twice) I’m in a positive mood for tomorrow.
I think, and hope, we’ll be too strong for Leeds.
Glad to hear that Planty was on top form last night DG (website was in meltdown when I tried to get a ticket at 9am on the day they were released).
Hope the boys are in stonking form too tomorrow night against dirty Leeds, but I think it’ll be close.
It’s gonna be a long drive back down the M40 if we lose.
Leo to get back on the goal trail.
COMBs!
DOOGooder,
I used to live in and around Leeds for a good few years, and can see both sides. I have to agree with your view that if Leeds fans wish to make comments they should be able too as long as its football related and not abuse.
On a more positive note see Utd lost 4-5 at home and Leon scored another hat trick, I have to ask is it a shape shifting alien inhabiting a look a like human body, cois the Leon Clarke I know missed a sitter against Roy Keane’s Sunderland that most 7 years olds could have scored, and his current prowess just doesn’t ring true.
Tonight, Leeds can be a good team, they can be a hard team, but I think what they need to be is a lucky team to get anything out of this game, and frankly they aint that lucky so can’t see them getting anything from us, as long as we’re playing at 70% of our best.
Whilst I understand the animosity toward them from the late 60 early 70’s, they were a team of cheats, liars and worse, this version of Leeds isn’t related and we need to move on as its unlikely we will be playing them too often in the future.
i just can see Leeds scoring based on our current mean defence. Hope I’m right and that we pinch one at the other end. UTW
In response to Wilko – the Leeds supporter.
One of the principal reasons a vast cross section of football supporters dislike Leeds with a vengeance not only goes back to the Revie era and the indisputable fact he tried to bribe certain Wolves players prior to THAT match (May 1972 in front of 53,379 at Molineux) but also the fact that going to Elland Road is simply a throwback to the 1970’s.
Over the past 20 years or so travelling to away games has become far more pleasant than it used to be. Having followed Wolves on the grounds of 87 different clubs since the 1960’s – bearing in mind at some clubs Wolves have played at both the old and new stadiums (Derby, Stoke, Middlesbrough, Arsenal, Manchester City and so on and so forth) there is no doubt that you can now enjoy a pre match pint and a meal at a pub either in the town or near the stadium which would have been nigh on unthinkable 30 years ago. I go to a football match to support my team – Wolverhampton Wanderers – but if we lose (which has been all to often over the past few decades) I would no more think of slinging a brick through a coach window than changing my allegiance to West Brom.
It is also now possible to wear “colours” without getting your face altered at a lot of grounds.
However there are always exceptions to this and in my experience nasty bastards still lurk “1970’s and 1980’s” style at the following clubs – waiting to kick the shit out of anyone who dares to support another team for example…………
Millwall, Stoke City, Cardiff City, Birmingham City and ………….Leeds United.
I have had the dubious “pleasure” of visiting Elland Road on a number of occasions – maybe a dozen or more – since the 1970’s. In fact the first time I encountered the nastiness of Leeds fans was at Leeds Road Huddersfield in August 1971 when Elland Road was closed due to……violence and pitch invasion at Elland Road the previous season.
Fast forward to January 1974 and a midweek cup replay at Elland Road (2pm kick off due to the three day week and conserving electricity). Leeds won 1-0 with a goal by Mick Jones 5 minutes from the end. After the game as we made our way towards the away coaches, my mate and I were ambushed by a huge gang of Leeds nutcases. We were kicked and punched and my friend has his head banged against the side of a stationary bus. Without the intervention of the local bobbies I am sure we would have been kicked to death.
In 1998 after Wolves won the FA cup quarter final 1-0 at Elland Road probably the most sickening violence of all when hordes of Leeds fans raced round to the visiting end and attacked Wolves fans – a lot of them families not the Wolves hardliners. As we tried to get into the away coach compound a gang of Leeds fans laid into us and even young lads of maybe 8 or 9 were targeted as no doubt other Wolves fans who were caught up in it will testify. The coaches were then pelted with bricks and traffic cones – bloody traffic cones flying about.
(Some may ask why go when if its that bad – well I support my team that’s why).
Add on killing a lad at Birmingham and countless other acts of wanton violence around the country and as you can probably guess for yourself Wilko that is why Leeds and their “supporters” are so detested nationwide. I have to admit that Wolves have their share of lunatics as does a few other clubs but not on the scale of Leeds – nowhere near. Apart from West Brom and Birmingham I have seen visiting supporters walk around Molineux taking photographs with their replica shirts on without any hassle whatsoever. Try that at Elland Road!
I also have to laugh at the “big club” mindset of Leeds supporters. This is a myth that has to be exposed. Leeds is a one club city with a population in excess of 700,000 making it the 5th or 6th biggest city in England. Add on the environs and catchment area of Wakefield, Batley, Dewsbury, Cleckheaton and so on and Leeds United FC can draw upon support from around a million people. No other club in the country has this advantage. Yet when Wolves were relegated to the third tier in 2013 our home average attendances were higher than Leeds. (Please no excuse about being a rugby league area – attendances for that game are pitiful).
In addition Leeds’ highest home attendance if my memory serves me correct is just 49,000 v Sunderland. The record attendance at “little old Wolves” is 61,315.
So Wilko – whilst I acknowledge not all Leeds fans are tarred with the same brush – you have collectively brought it on yourselves. Not just with a serious amount of aggravation but an unbelievable arrogance that Leeds should be at the pinnacle of English football and a fond memory of a manager who for all the bluster won very little in reality and “shit” on the England job – which should have gone to Brian Clough in any case.
Big club – my arse.
BOG
I think you missed out the bit where you call his mate a ‘long streak of paralyzed piss’, the rest I can go with, especially if you do sound like Bob Hoskins…
I consulted Alan the psychic snail who lives in my garden about the Leeds game. It is unfortunate that Alan only speaks Swedish so I had to call the Swedish embassy and hold the phone to Alans mouth whilst an interpreter deciphered his answers. Any way Alan says it will be 2-1 to WWFC and he is quite sure this is down to a high tide currently being experienced off the coast of Chile. He also dismissed the notion that a cold wet and windy night will have terrible effect on the Portuguese lads. Alan said they can always wear a jumper and a hat if needs be. Alan also offered his opinion on the next Sandwell Town manager. It will be………. Frank Skinner’s mom.
In my haste, I forgot to post a prediction, as if I need to.
However, hold on to yer hats, I’m not so confident this week…………………..that the opposition can muster a goal, so…………….
Will you be pissed off if it’s 5-1 Clive!!!!!
Well it’s a tad fiesty on here tonight.
Well me, I don’t give a monkey’s chuff for Leeds or their fans, never have, never will, I walked round Elland Road on the last two away games wearing my wolves shirt with Jen de Wolf in tow for protection, let’s see anyone tackle her, no way.
I have predicted 3-0 for the last few games, we are playing Leeds who obviously upped their game for bragging rights against Boro, I still feel we are have spanking waiting to be dealt, so why not against these kids.
Wolves 3 – 0 Leeds
Talking of beautiful female supporters streaming back to the Molineux with our new style Wolves play, one of the Penn hotties Sharron, was spotted today making her way down to the game early.
Beware all you supporters travelling from a distance.
Waterloo road closed 1- 1/2 hrs prior to the game.
Christmas lights switch on tomorrow night 6-30pm.
Another road closure in town planned, so further disruption on top of all the other stuff.
29,000 + expected at the game.
Oh yes, watch out for Sharron from Penn, she will be on the loose before ko.
COMBambinos.
Stu I was looking forward to my supper till I saw that, are you sure it’s Sharon from Penn and not Sid from Bilston?
It’s one of Clive’s ex’s.
Classy bird, keeps her vest on.
Only because she cannot take it off
It’s not a vest it’s a chip basket!!
A little concerned that they will try and kick us off the park but will be interesting to see how we handle it.
Us at home will be too strong. I am loving what Nuno is building and, from a distance, there appears to be great spirit in the team.
Can’t see us losing.
Is that a nipple pastie she’s wearing mate? ….. and what’s that black thingy on her chest ?
We’ll pinch it I think
I work with a Leeds fan , last season after our away victory I managed to print off 50 photocopies with LUFC 0-1 WWFC , and hid them in all around the office , on his car, in his bag, even sent a letter addressed to him with a sheet inside….. he’s still finding them to this day
the hours flew by……..
hopefully be able too repeat something similar this week , if so I can give you all his address and anyone else wants it … no dog turds mind, remember they’re the savages!

Coming up for this one. I don’t usually for midweek games, so it’s a few beers and kip in the back of the van. Ahhh, dedication.
Talking about dedication, there was great dedication shown by our heroes as they threw their bodies on the line to keep out Reading last Saturday. I’m afraid similar dedication will be required against Leeds, ’cause the win against Boro will have give ’em a big lift and every team gets a lift when they’re playing the best team in the league.
However, to win tomorrow will require more than a lift for the Leeds mob. They’ll need a big dose of levitation. I feel we are superior all over the park and by 60mins in we’ll have run the legs off ’em and they’ll be there for the taking.
As I head back to the van post-match to rest my weary head, the rain and the wind will be doing it’s worst, but there will be sunshine in my heart.
I should be in the NBB pre-match for a swift ale, if anyone’s around.
I predict an easy night where we will run rings round them. Better be as I need bragging points over my mate who is a leeds supporter- you can’t help where you are born- though you have to pity them.
I hope I’m not getting over confident, but I can’t see us having a blip in front of a near sell out crowd. If they make as much noise as we did in Reading the jobs done.
I must be close to the top of the predo’ leaque they don’t want my score line.
I’ll be there tomorrow with my lad and would love nothing more than another win with me and my lad chest bumping each other in the BW Upper!! Having said that I think Leeds will come and stifle us enough to limit us to 1 goal, scoring one themselves. Leeds go home happy with 4 from 6 against us and Boro. Prove me wrong me babbies, with Sheff Utd currently slipping up (at time of going to press) it’s a great chance to extend our lead at the top #FWAW #WolvesAyWe
An important game which could give the team breathing space, although I’m not sure if they need it. Shef continues to impress, but how long can they keep on going this on this impressing run? I think their demanding physical style of play could be their downfall in the christmas, and the gap down to Wolves could increase.
Leeds have many interesting attacking players: Roofe, Lasogga (a player linked with Wolves before the transfer window was closed), Hernandes. Ronaldo Vieira is an interesting player with an interesting name (born to be a footballer?) in central midfield which could develop into a star further down the road as he is an England u-20. He could even end up as a Wolves player if he continues his development :=))). This is really a battle of giants, although it must be said that Leeds lacks the consistency. As many English clubs they’ve had a lot of misfortune hiring the wrong couches for the job. The question is if they are luckier this time around? Shouldn’t they do a Wolves move and hire a top european couch if they have some real ambition? Christiansen could be the man, but he is fairly unexperienced and started his career as a coach in 2013. It is quite astonishing how many bad appointments a club can do. One thing is certain, it’s not bad luck :=)))
I’d like to see Nuno shuffle the pack a bit, to avoid ‘tired legs’, but no doubt he will use his substitutions judiciously, and I’ll trust him to do what’s necessary.
I checked the odds with Paddy Power today – amazing, 1-2 to win the league, and 1-9, yes, nine to one on, to be promoted !
According to the address they had on the system when I bought my ticket this will be my first visit to the mol in at least 2 and a half years. This is what happens when you don’t live in the Midlands and work weekends!
Could not be more excited about going to the game, only hope my presence there doesn’t put the lads off as I do have a history of being a bit of a bad omen. That said, we do stuff like win the first game back after the internationals these days, what a time to be a Wolf!
Anyone know where I can buy an abacus?
And Leon Clarke scores another hat trick but still finishes up a loser.
What a shame.
Another bunch of Yorkshire tossers stuffed.
You would have to be an idiot to predict any other score.
Coincidentally found my ticket from my first ever Wolves match, the infamous Monday May 8th encounter of 1972. If you were there, and I know many of you above were, you’ll know why I was immediately hooked on the Molineux experience. So got to go 2-1 for old times sake.
They will probably kick us off the park. We need a good ref in this one. 4 points this week still leaves us very handily placed.
A bit nervy about this one but we are managing to win while not at our best.
Great chance to pull clear at the top tomorrow after tonight’s results. Leeds roll into town on the back of a good result against Middlesbrough. They have had decent results against the top teams so I expect a tough game in front of an almost sold out Molineux. As for the team I would expect Douglas to come back in for Vinagre and as pleasing as Costa’s little cameo was I would start him on the bench but maybe bring him on earlier. All said an done I think we will get the win.
Good incentive to win after last night’s results. Would be nice to start opening a gap at the top. Have had a successful run of predictions with my 2-0 so why change. I think we would all be happy with that result.
I think this will be the kind of game that Nuno will relish to prove his best. I predict the team will show just how good they can be in this game. Hoping so anyway 🙂
Go Wolves!
30,000+ crowd, so time to show how good we really are.
3-0 to the mighty Wolves!
With our former keeper in net, Longergan? We’re due to put at least a few past them
Leeds United all most certainly the most hated club in England a reputation for cheating and un gentlemanly conduct way beyond any other club.
For ever tarnished by there teams of the seventies. A win tommorrow against a team wh will almost certainly be set up to kick lumps out of our talented team will be even sweeter.
I was there in May 1972 in the South Bank . Remember watching the match in the crush of the crowd. Those were the days. Still regard this fixture as a clash of giants…especially as I have Leeds supporter friends.I am currently in Madeira and will be watching every move at Molineux. COYW
First time I could go and I’ve got the BLOODY flu so it’s the radio again.
No one is any where near our class.
Football lesson on its way to filthy leeds
Don’t give a fahoouk about Leeds form or league position, everyone that plays us have to fear us not us them!
30k crowd, Nuno choice of starting 11 will ensure dirty Leeds get fahoouk all from this one.
So for me Douglas back in, then dependant on score to 60 ish minutes, we’ll see a better run out for Costa.
Goals in this one for sure.
Strong ref PLEASE
I see Clive flies the flag as an erudite and passive Wolves fan – as John Cleese said once was ‘a bit on edge’…lol Bedfords fault.
I also wonder why we still all hate Leeds and Leeds etc ..? Revie. Still remember the big match with 55000 there me included..
So ..4 points clear tonight if we win and then Notlob….I make that 6 points expected..
Very possible but I would expect Leeds to be very physical and therefor – injuries…
We should win and I hope Costa comes on
to do some damage as he must be up for it.
Bonatini to score and a nother ..take your pick..
Side issue…..I must admit – thinking about writing comments on here… I’m being dominated thought wise almost continuously and that is ….believe it or not ..Leon Clarke -the uncoordinated donkey (for us then) how could he of scored 4 in one match and has become an utter star at Sheffield ?
Complete shock …as I said – Complete shock..
Anyway COYW
Leon Clarke – yes, and another hat trick last night, but good for us Sheff Unt still lost. I guess Clarke has improved his finishing – and must be getting plenty of chances from the Sheff Unt. team. I think he was often in the right place for us, but seemed to fluff his chances, and his confidence went downhill.
Confidence, luck, support, fitness, so many imponderables involved.
Although I’ve forecast a good win for us tonight, our recent emphasis on brave defending and man of the match goalkeeping makes me nervous that we will slip up soon unless we turn our individual skills and super passing play into more goals.
Don Revie was used by one of my PE teachers as an example of how not to play the game.
And I first started following footy with the likes of Bremner, Hunter and Co.
Home win, but hope they don’t do a Cardiff on us out of spite
Mini blip but no disaster
Dedicating my prediction to CfH
and will try to transfer my 3 Prediction league pts to his account
( assume end of Pulis has addled his brain)
Going for 2 – 0 to us. Leeds may be half decent but we are tight at the back and always likely to score.
With Clive going for 5-0 this has surely gonna be 5-1.
Should win, WILL win no problems expected
I think we’re going to take these boys to Elland back
Portuhampton 3
Leeds 1
I ain’t going to get all lemon about this but if Wilko or what ever you call yourself…. if you knew Bedford then you wouldn’t say anything bad about him
Very pleased for Leon Clarke, as I always am for anyone who has worn the old gold. Just didn’t work out for us for whatever reason. As for Leeds, I’m not that enamoured but I don’t share the vitriol as described above. Just another team for me. They won’t be able to outplay us so I expect they’ll try Cardiff’s tactics, but I reckon we’ve worked out how to compensate for the rough stuff.
I still think we’ve got enough magic within the side to get a result, even when the opposition tries to kick us off the pitch.
Geoff Eltringham… who t.f is he you ask ….. Well he’s tonight’s referee.
He officiated the Forest v Wolves game this year so those who went know exactly what we’re in for tonight.
Although we’re a talented group of players …. memories of Bremner and Giles assaulting Keegan in the Charity Shield still remind me of the capability for dishing s##t ….
And I’m afraid that’s what we’re in for tonight ….. so Geoff … get waving those reds at the whites tonight.
It won’t be pretty and I’m going reluctantly for a frustrating (for us) draw. ….
Twixo – I also checked him out. 14 games this season, averages less than 3 yellow cards a game AND has issued not one single red card. So sounds to me like he is a bit of wuss so don’t hold your breath expecting a flurry of cards of any colour. It’s got the game against the Preston thugs written all over it.
I was thinking Cardiff …but yes Preston won’t be too far out ….
Hard fought point tonight
They’ll set up like Cardiff – hopefully this time we can do a number on them but being considered.

Leon Clarke top championship scorer at 12 goals so far. WTF is going on? He’s obviously having a purple patch but the only patch he had for us was a bad patch! What was wrong at Wolves? The coaching? The on-pitch service? His fitness? Some or all of these?
What next? He’ll be snapped up in the transfer window for about £25mil ? You may laugh but you would have laughed at the thought of him being the leading scorer.
This is a bit like the old Bob Monkhouse joke: They laughed when I said I wanted to be a comedian. They’re not laughing now.
Anyway, good luck to Leon. He took a lot of stick in the past. He’s having the last laugh now.
Bob Monkhouse. Very funny guy.
He also said:-
When I die, I want to go peacefully in my sleep, like my dad.
Not screaming in terror like all his passengers.
Two significant parts of my youth passed away yesterday. Rodney Bewes and David Cassidy.
Rodney Bewes, one half of the brilliant Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads TV comedy duo, has passed away. Back in 1973/74 as a 16/17 year old my group of friends used to recite lines from the programme in the way that teenage boys are prone to do – we did the same for Monty Python and Fawlty Towers – usually whilst huddled in the corner of The George in Enfield town centre hoping no-one would notice we were all under age as we supped our light and bitters. So last night when I got a message from one of said group of friends who I still see saying ‘ENGLAND F……….’ I knew that a small part of my youth had gone.
Oh what happened to you, whatever happened to me, what became of them people we used to be.
Then this morning I heard that David Cassidy had also died. Now I wasn’t a Cassidy lover – come on now I was never a pre-pubescent female teeny-bopper honest! – but back in 1973, and I know this is very hard to believe, I actually looked a little bit like him. Mainly the hair I think. And the clothes. Anyway on holiday in Torquay (not Fawlty Towers by the way) two little girls of about 9 or 10 staying in the same hotel became convinced that I was him. So much so that they followed me everywhere, giggling and eventually, at the request of their parents, I had to speak to them (David Cassidy with a London accent?) and sign autographs for them.
Could it be forever, or is my mind just rambling on?
RIP Rodney Bewes and David Cassidy.
Are you sure it wasn’t Hopalong Cassidy they were mixing you up with?
Seriously though, like you, The Likely Lads were a big part of my youth.
Still watch the repeats which made it even more surprising when I saw a recent picture of Rodney.
I know we all get older but he should still be the same as he was back in the day.
“By the cringe Thelma pet!”
Very sad.
Not bothered about long winning runs so long as we continue to average 2 pts per game. They have ‘unconventional’ players like Saiz, Roofe and Alioski (sp ?) who might find a way through our defensive maze so I’ll go for a draw – then a win on Saturday.
Maybe I’m too young but I can honestly say that I don’t really hate Leeds, they’re just another team to be played twice & hopefully beaten twice!
I could say I don’t really hate any other team but I’d be lying as obviously I hate, loathe & detest Sandwell Town, followed closely by Brum & AV! But hey I’m a Wolf & proud of it!
Come on lads!
Funny that,
I couldnt give a fig about any of our local rivals, one way or the other. My hated is reserved almost entirely for Managers and their current teams.
Neil Warnock the gob shite being my No1 hated person in football.
for some reason Ian Holloway now gets on my nerves too.
who do you lot hate for some little understood reason………….
Birmingham cos of their moronic supporters. Idiotic chanting, they have no appreciation of decent football even by their own team. They are without humour or wit. Peaky Blinders with zero charisma. But you’ll know this if you’ve ever gone to their slum of a ground.
I thought the ref in the away game at Forest was pretty good, he played advantage when Bonatini was scythed down by the home centre half, which allowed Diego to go on and score, the ref then went back and booked the home no5, could maybe have been a red, but as we had scored the winner he just went yellow.
We are far too good for every other team in the division and with a big noisy crowd can`t see there being a problem tonight. Never easy but we have the class, and a very mean defence. Sp come on wolves, make my day please!!
Delighted after the Reading game…I thought that could be a banana skin for us.
Results were good for us last night so now would be a perfect time to take two home wins on the bounce and hopefully put a little gap between us and the chasing pack.
Won’t be easy but we’re more than capable if we play to our ability.
UTW
Could be a good game tonight with a great atmosphere. with hopefully no violence.
My dad always told me a story of back in the day how all the Leeds fan’s rushed the Wolves fans in the subway under the ring road behind the Southbank, said it was the most terrifying situation hes been in at football. Everyone got a beating, luckily my dad could handle himself so got off lightly.
At best , they may score first but we are simply too good and will over run them , Costa to definitely score from the bench , time to stretch our legs boys and open the gap
Utw
Think this might be a draw tonight, but have got my fingers crossed for a narrow win.
On facebook it says, “Tag a mate whose from Leeds”
They’re havin a feckin Giraffe ain’t they.
My head says we are due to drop points. Hard game and bad weather I heard.
But my heart says…
I’m thinking goals in this one both from Bonatini. I’ll be disappointed not to win but it’ll be another point towards our goal. I think we’ll beat Bolton on Saturday so a week of 7 points from 9 will still be good. come on wolves prove me wrong and beat t’arseholes
Going to be a tight one tonight —— Ooooh Matron!!
Difficult conditions against a bunch of knuckle scrapers but I fancy that we will sneak a win.
I have a bad feeling about this game, don’t ask me why I just do.
Maybe see DB or Miranda in for Bennett and Douglas to return in place of Vinagre . I still think Costa will be on the bench but he looked a lot brighter when he came on against Reading on Saturday. Maybe he will start in place of Cav?
Hope my feeling of doom & gloom is just down to me being a grumpy old man. Really hope I am proved to be a tit.
🙂
100 goals 100 points! Here we come!
Shock and awe!
Just got back home totally bedraggled. If the weather in Wolverhampton is anything like it is here in Merthyr Tydfil I feel sorry for you guys. For that reason alone I suspect it might be a long hard evening tonight at Molineux.
That said, win tonight and on Saturday and we have a 100% November!
Bit late posting on this one but I have mixed feelings regarding Leeds fans. My cousin is one and me, Sue, him and his wife have had some great weekends together in Wolverhampton and Leeds. Unfortunately, both fixtures this season are night matches so we couldn’t go. Then, there are the “other” Leeds fans – the ones who kidnapped me (I kid you not). There used to be a pub in Newark called The Blue Man and Leeds fans from here ran a coach to every game, home and away. A proper nutters coach full of beer monsters. One Saturday in the late 80’s or early 90’s me and my dad came out of the chip shop next door just as they were boarding the said coach. All I heard was there’s Wingy and before I knew it I was heading up the A1 under a pile of coats. To be fair they were great with me and got me totally pissed. We must have gone in 10 different pubs and they introduced me as a Wolves fan in every one. It was before I had a mobile phone so my wife, not Sue, my first wife Lisa the lesbian went barmy when my dad said I had been kidnapped. I stood amongst Leeds main boys all game and thankfully the game ended 0-0 so I survived. Got home about 10 hours later to face the music. So, to be honest I don’t really hate Leeds but I understand why others do. Still going to lose tonight though lads.
4. 1. Up get in
Well, what do I know? 4-1 with 5 mins to go. Perhaps a Clive5 on the cards? Happy days.
Wilko54, Don Revie, Billy Bremner, Gary Sprake, wilko54 again, Eddie Gray, Norman Hunter, Jackie Charlton, wilko54 yet again, David Batty, Paul Reaney, Terry Cooper, wilko54 – have I mentioned him? – Alan Clarke, Mick Jones, Les Cocker, wilko54 ……..your boys took a hell-uv-a beating!
Hahahahahahaha.
Arrogant? Hell yeah baby.
OODCL
Nobody cares about Leeds!
I know it’s never as easy as this but…… three of the bottom four to play now , focus and we could be comfortably ahead by Xmas
Utw
Oh I really thought we were gonna get a Clive! I was preparing myself for 10 years of glorious banter. Alas, had to settle for just the 4 (four).
Leeds, Leeds are falling apart, again
Ahhh. Taunting Dirty Leeds with one of my favourite ever tunes. Joy Division – Love will tear us apart. “LEEDS LEEDS ARE FALLING APART AGAIN” Can we go the rest of the season without another defeat? I just had the feeling we could have gone up a few gears if needed tonight and the first half hour we toyed with them tonight. Ivan the Great scored a stonking goal. So happy I am going to walk around Gornal dressed as a pantomime horse with ‘I love Nuno’ written on it.
Classy display against the cloggers. You boys deserve a bonus photo, I am assured she has ‘old gold’ on somewhere.
Leeeeeds.
Leeds are falling apart again.
That summed the night up, feckin great atmosphere, 28,914 fans thrilled out of their feckin socks, goals raining in to the Leeds goalmouth. With Leeds players standing around stunned, bewildered, amazed at what was happening to them.
Football the likes of which Iv’e not seen in my 56 years at the Golden Palace, old guys and girls coming out of the terraces and ground singing. Leeeeds, Leeds are falling apart again.
Don’t believe the doom and gloomers, they will try to tell you we were struggling after Leeds scored a brilliantly taken well worked goal, bollox utter bollox, we were in control throughout, Boly almost broke out into a sweat.
First 20 minutes we witnessed football of the highest quality and precision, pure clinical, surgical finishing, WTF, can this really be our team.
Quote from Stevie Bull this week to some mates, “ If Wolves go up this season, you will see spending on a scale of Man City”
Now I’m salivating, points are totting up, goals are flying in, fans are streaming back, grounds are selling out of away tickets.
What the feck is not to like at this period of my life.?
The only thing wrong is Stubaby dont get no prettier!!!
The weather did hold out for us Clive, you were so lucky, nearly had that 5.
Would have loved the bragging rights for all our long suffering boys and girls working with Leeds fans to have had a 5 goal piss take at work this week.
“Best time ever” as my Grandson says.
Clive, did you notice that the colour of the top looked old gold from the pitch level camera but orangish from the above pitch camera?
Am I dreaming or is it really happening? At last we have a side capable of taking on all comers and giving them a pasting at this level. Never seen anything like it in all the time I have been going to the Mol. (Since 1953)
Only disappointment from last night was the fact that Border Wolf said she did note hate Leeds. I thought I had educated her better than that, I will have to revisit that part of her education.
Working with a Leeds fan this morning
He is right pissed off ha ha he just threw a bit of pasty at me on a ladder caus I’m ripping the shit out of him
We are wolves!!!
Be honest now -when the score was 4-1 with 10 mins to go, how many of us thought “Please Wolves don’t score – or Clive will be justifiably VERY upset with his change in prediction”. But what a great show by our boys. I will have to raise my level of expectation for the next one. Possibly a 6+ scoreline.
