Something tells me this game won’t follow the same pattern as Saturday.
I certainly can’t envisage Ipswich playing neat passes along their own 18-yard box and inviting Wolves to press.
No, this will be a much different challenge for Walter Zenga to navigate against a more purpose-built Championship outfit.
And thankfully the Italian knows what to expect, stating yesterday, “We prepare for a game against a strong team, a physical team, who know how to play and never give up.”
That sums it up nicely.
Ipswich
We’ve yet to beat Mick McCarthy since he left Wolves and took over at Portman Road. The Tractor Boys always seem to find an extra 5% at Molineux and I don’t think that’s a coincidence.
As always, Mick had some interesting comments in his own press conference:
“I’ve seen both their [Wolves] games. They played against Rotherham, they were 2-0 down and came back with a man short and drew two-all.
“I watched the game against Reading this morning. It’s not suddenly changed, they’ve not got loads of new players in. They’ve got two or three but it’s predominantly the players we played against last season.
“So there’s not been that many changes, I think it’s hard to just turn it around and just put all new players in, that would be a recipe for disaster.
“We’re seeing that up at Newcastle, I guess, with the best Championship players, seven or eight of them have gone in and they’ve lost two games, which seems incredible.
“Wolves have had a good start, I thought they played well against Reading, but somebody said they’ve made a bid of £16 million for somebody from Portugal [Benfica’s Anderson Talisca].
“If that’s true, I don’t recognise that one. Even in the Premier League that money wasn’t there when I was manager!”
And on Walter Zenga?
“He was a top, top class goalkeeper. He’s had a lot of jobs in management and I think he’s got a great job there, a great club.
“I thought it was a great club and a great job when I had it and if he’s in the Championship and has a pot of money to spend, if he can get that place going again it’s a fabulous club.”
Wolves
It will be interesting to see if Walter Zenga makes any changes after a good team performance at the weekend. Will he be a fan of rotation or even feel he has the players to do it? I’d assume the same team though.

At times it was quite hard to pick out where certain players were operating on Saturday with Mason and Teixiera in particular popping up all over the place.
I quite like that because it makes the team more difficult to read, but we’ll see how it works against more battle hardened opposition. Or maybe Walter will change things completely? Who knows?
I don’t think new signing Prince Oniangue is eligible to make his debut but when he is available, I look forward to seeing how he’s utilised. Is there a chance he’ll play at the back?
Walter Zenga
Predictions
Definitely sitting on the fence with a 1-1 tonight and that would suit me just fine. Five points from the opening three games is a solid return.
We played very well against Reading and without question Ipswich can be got at. Their limp defeat at Brentford on Saturday proves that.
But Mick never makes it easy and on our narrower pitch, their compact system will be even harder to breakdown.
So draw for me, but hoping to once more be pleasantly surprised.
Up The Wolves!

There’s a first time for everything and I predict a narrow win tonight.
Mick has certainly been talking Wolves up as a club. Maybe he’s putting himself forward for if things don’t work out with Walt.
Until Mr Zenga cocks up I am prepared to believe that he has a plan for each team we face and that we can see the tractor boys off.
Let battle commence!
Second thread running that I’ve had the first comment.
Anyone would think that all I do every day is sit in front of the Wolves blog.
But, of course, that’s nonsense. That would just be too sad.
Sometimes I stand.
I’m with you Doogooder.
It’ll be a tough game against highly motivated opposition, but hopefully Walter has the tactical nous to overcome Mick and Clipboard.
Couldn’t make the Reading game, but really looking forward to seeing Jon Dadi and Tex in the flesh (so to speak!).
COMBs!
I think that MM will ‘park the bus’ tonight so it will be a very tight game.
Still fancy us to sneak a win.
I think he might rotate and bring in Price for Evans.
Certainly absorbing times as a Wolves fan.
We seem linked to everyone, although am wondering if Talisca is merely a mythic character.
The indications are, though, that we have confidence as a team and with a manager who knows what he’s doing.
We will win.
Another clean sheet? Somehow I doubt it as although we played some great stuff and kept one on Saturday, reading did not really threaten our back line. Not taking anything away from their commitment and work rate though.
So, to remind myself of what has been happening:
Jon Dadi Bodvarsson
Joao Texeira
Peraira Silvio
Prince Oniangue
Helda Costa
And talk about:
Anderson Talisca
Birkir Bjarnason
Luisao
Alexis Schole
I doubt there would be many of us who would have thought that we would have got so many in in such a short time with more to come.
Times at the Mol are getting interesting. As for the result tonight. I don’t believe Walt will want anything else but a good 3 points so:
You forgot to mention Idrissa Sylla aka Sylla Black.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3743167/Wolves-bid-5m-Anderlecht-striker-Idrissa-Sylla.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490
wolves to go for it tonight
Today’s preview popped up while I was checking out reactions to the latest signing (?s).
I getting very optimistic about the quality of the new players and the improvement shown by the existing squad.
Mick doesn’t seem too happy with his team at present and I’m going for a good win.
I see an exciting game with last Saturdays scoreline. If so, a great start to the season.
Close, maybe too close to call but I’m aleways perpared to make a prat of myself . . . . . Wolves to win.
Always prepared – like any good scout.
Mick has got a fair few injuries to contend with. He will park the bus and try and catch us on the break and play a long ball game. One thing for sure it will be physical, and a lot will depend on how our defence cope with that.
If we get an early goal I can see us ending up easy winners, otherwise it will be a dour 0-0,1-0 either way. Since the sun is shining it will be an easy 3-1 win!
Momentum is key and we are slowly going through the gears. Their fans are turning on thick Mick and with our club united we will steam roll them.
Let’s go positive!!
No doubt about it tonight will be a tough test for our boys. Whatever the result let’s remember it’s early days and the team will most probably be very different come the start of September with the signing of Prince as well as Talisca and Luisao if we manage to get them.
Going for a 2-2 draw, Ipswich will offer more up front than Reading did on Saturday.
UTW
Hard game tonight I expect.
Really can’t call.it I said a narrow win for the,reading game,so I’m going again.with that.
It’s difficult to see how,Zenga team pan out with all the new signing s and a couple more this, week, but what I will.say is enjoy the, ride it’s so exciting. To be a wolves fan, it amazes me when I speak to people, who know I’m a wolves fan growing up.in London didn’t say a dicky bird but all of a sudden have, said I’ve always had a,soft spot for, wolves. Ha ha.
Cmon my boys.
Still can’t back a wolves win but hoping for a great atmosphere again and a draw would suit me. Ipswich won’t be rolled over as easily as reading but anything is possible these days
Time for Mad Mick to get his comeuppance
it will indeed be a different type of challenge. good to see zenga acknowledging the strength and physicality of the challenge.. hoping for the momentum of this zenga bus to keep on trundling!
Luisao looks a bit of a wuss to me.
That referee got up after a minute or so.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKVG1c-UZ6I
These continental refs eh? Sleeping on the job.
and in a ‘friendly’ too…
Tight, but a win….
Momentum is key to winning the prediction league. So Im going to try and push on from my one correct guess in 2 years and say another win. I’m focusing on that as I have no idea what team he will select or who will play where.
I am going to stick my neck out here, 3-0 to Wolves.
I say this because all the players we are being linked with.
Our existing squad will play their hearts out, either to stay at Wolves or put themselves in the shop window with only two weeks left to find a move.
Exciting ride on tne Zenga bus.
We’re feckin rich
We’re feckin rich
Zenga bus keeps rolling!
Another day, another signing(?) and another game. We welcome Merlin back to the Mol and in the past he has left with a smile on his face. Well that’s going to change tonight. The Wolves team will take the game to Ipswich, overrun them and leave them dizzy and confused.
Expect a couple of changes tonight but I don’t know where or who, still we are building a squad and Walter believes in using the squad.
Really exciting times at the Mol 🙂
Who knows what will happen next?
😉
I’m kinda with Pauluswolf on this one. Mick will be more wary than ever about throwing caution to the wind given our start to the campaign. So an early goal could make all the difference. Players like Tex and Dadi can make things happen even in a crowded box and I feel we’ll find a way whatever Mick decides to do.
They seem a little deflated by recent performances and we are on a high and still going up. I can’t see tonight changing that situation.
Agree momentum is building, and new players keep turning up, hope that the latest 2 can be as significant as Böðvarsson and Teixeira. We are building nicely and slowly, hoping that this continues tonight as finally Merlin goes home defeated, and our pedigree grows, with Nouha Dicko playing again things really are looking up
damn predicition we’re gonna win not Clive style yet but thats coming too
I think that the honeymoon will continue and would love to see us beat MM for the first time.
Things going great so far – COYW.
Phychological momentum I agree Stu all existing players are playing for their lives with a few scouts in the crowd I reckon looking at KJs players..
MMc is due a bashing and (only currently needed ) if we keep the ball down their end from the off we can do this lot..
I hear that a spectacular no 5 is in the offering and that completes my set if Talisca is still coming..
What a team rebuild is going on..current players are either crapping themselves (or learning to speak Portuguese..)
Tex is the man of the moment with Dadi a close second.. But overall with the team playing well I hope we tear ipshit a new arsehole..
This is a warm up for the bluenoses..
and one of the the top league spots..
COYW and Sako plse…
Love you hoping for Sako to come back. You really are relentless in your quest.
Even though I have gone with the same scoreline as you Stevie, I don’t really know as it is much too early to predict what is going to happen. I have never been so excited about how a season is going to pan out for a very long time.
Keep smiling buddy, things can only get better than what we have had before.
It’s the three points that count, so will settle for a 1-0 win. Although once we get the team all sorted out I will be competing with Clive for the highest correct score 🙂
I’m going to keep the faith and hope the Iceman works his magic again.
Tougher match tonight, but that said, if we can play as fluid as we did on Saturday who knows!
COTW
Mick will pack defence and midfield and play for a draw.
Ipswich will try to man mark Teixiera so we will see how good he really his.
Ipswich will try to score on the break so we will see how improved the defence really is.
Tricky call as this will be the first real test against a ‘tough’ championship side and depends on who gets the first goal in what I expect to be a low scoring game.
With Teixiera, Mason and the Ice man on fire Wolves will score first.
Stu made the point …. Ain’t no one going to slip up in wolves shirt completion for places is not in the reserves but in the transfer market
After listening to zenga I feel like I could have a good game . He s like nothing we ve had before
I think we’re going to be too good for this division very quickly
Ipswich under MM is a tough nut to crack, as everyone knows. Still, I’d like to remains positive (oh, the dreaded word!). Couple of goals and a clean sheet, please.
Yup – its another sing song on the way home tonight fellas – I have prepared the play list as follows (even though I aint driving – sorry Tim) to start with………..
Manfred Mann
Golden Earring – (Radar Love – a 1970’s gem)
Temptations
Jacksons
The Crazy world of Arthur Brown
Steely Dan (Reelin in the years – what a classic sound)
Allman Brothers (Check out Jessica – 7 minutes of pure musical heaven and the signature tune to Top Gear who ruined it)
Amen Corner
Traffic
Chairman of the Board
Sabbath
Spencer Davis
Oh yes tonight – Bodvarsson will snaffle a brace……
Just off to get changed and slip on my beloved shirt.
Two hours drive – Thai food in Darlington Street – a glass of red – a Thai beer – then off to the Mol…Great eh
And 3 0 PLEASE!
BOG
Must remember me ear-muffs for the drive home! Fortunately I will be asleep by the time we get to Walsall. By the time we get to Pheoneix ……………now there was a song. Who sung that?
p.s. Thai – thought we were going for a Walter Zenga inspired Italian?
p.p.s. A glass of red? A glass i.e. just the one? Who you kidding? We both know that you can substitute the word ‘bottle’ for ‘glass’ – ah Tommy Cooper now there was a real legend. Glass, bottle, bottle, glass.
p.p.p.s. talking of substitutes I might have to have the St Johns people on standby tonight as if we use three substitutes all in the same game I might just faint as not seen that for well over 12 months.
p.p.p.p.s No…………I’ve overstretched myself there with going for a 4th one!
Sounds like the old bus is going to be rockin’ tonight mate.
I’m with you on all your choices apart from Amen Corner. I never really got Handy Forefinger Low.
But Steely Dan – what a band. The thinking man’s rock group. (I wonder why I like them?).
And I saw Arthur Brown at Glastonbury a couple of years ago. The man was over 70 then for God’s sake but was still singing strong and jumping about like a scalded cat.
Brilliant!
I’d be in the bus for Traffic and Spencer Davis. Hopefully we’re moving from last season’s ‘Sometimes I feel so uninspired’ to Stevie’s ‘Back in the High Life Again’ and Spencer D’s ‘Somebody Help Me’ to ‘Keep on Winning’! A couple of years ago I turned a corner one evening during the St Ives (Cornwall) Festival, walked past their Festival Hall to be greeted by the sound of Andy Fetherlite Low and Amen Corner belting out “Bend me, Shape me”. Mrs PW groaned – she can’t really take these ageing rockers still belting it out!
Well DOOG let’s hope that Luisao never meets up with that theatrical prat Forestieri because no pitch will be big enough for his multiple rolls of agony!Perhaps the ref is a relation to the diver extraordinaire.
As for tonight, Ipswich will undoubtedly be “putting a shift in ” but a lack of quality will hopefully make things comfortable for our defence. That makes it a win for the boys in gold by the odd goal.
Against McCarthys cloggers I fancy a comfortable win with Ipswich down to 10 men for the last 30 minutes. Their cloggers are not going to be able to handle Teixara , Costa for the last 20 minutes.
Mason , Big Dadi , Baath with the goals
A definite home win and for me its 3-0 all day long. Goals from Bodvarsson, Teixeira and Evans. Think Ipswich will park the bus, especially as they are missing quite a few players through injury, but we will have too much for them.
Only slight concern is that BOG is also going to go for a 3-0 win and the last time he predicted a correct result was at the 1896 Olympics when he was nowt but a lad.
Oh no, just seen StuWolf has also gone 3-0 so now I have no chance!
p.s. setting off at 3.30pm for the game – can’t wait!
You driving up bedders ?
No but am being driven by another (Tim) along with BOG so I will be sat in the back of the car stretched out and snoozing probably.
God a good feeling for today!
Up the Wolves!
Mick still loves us, even after all this time. To be fair he never actually relegated us, I don’t think we were even in the relegation zone when baggies stuffed us 5-1, but Mick was made Morgan’s scapegoat after him not spending a penny in the January Transfer window – despite the desperate need for reinforcements at the time. Although we defiantly still would have gone down that season with Mick, just made a tougher fight of it.
Anyway same again from Reading 2-0 home win.
McDickwadhead is a dinosaur and his style of play as outdated as Bedford’s hairstyle.
He has clipbored advising him and still thinks Berra is a footballer.
The last score associated with him as Wolves manager is seared on our collective memories, being stuffed by the shit.
As we age, we tend to remember only good things from our past, but that is one memory we all try to but fail to erase.
Those of a certain age still talk about the day we creamed the reigning Double Champions, Arsenal, 5-1 in the snow.
Not expecting snow tonight, but am predicting the same score.
If memory serves, the last time we won 5-1 we went top and never relinquished the position.
Those of y’all meeting in the North Bank Bar tonight please give Twixfix a slap upside the head from me!!
FO wb
But I remember storming to the 2nd Division title playing exciting attacking football with two wingers. And beating Man Utd 2-1 at Molineux. And beating Man City 2-1 at Molineux. And beating Chelsea 1-0 at Molineux. And beating Spurs 1-0 at Molineux AND at White Hart Lane. And beating Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield. All of those were under the management of a cetain Mr Michael McCarthy. So ‘dinosaur’ or not he didn’t do too badly eh? Like Oliver Goldblack says the 1-5 home defeat to Sandwell dropped us into the bottom 3 for the very first time that season so sacking the manager immediately after was a piss-poor knee-jerk reaction by Morgan/Moxey who were both scared stiff of Super Mick and looking for any excuse to do the deed. As I have said many times – and will no doubt say many times over again yet as you know what we old gits get like, forgetting what we’ve said and who we’ve said it to – in my very humble opinion if we had not sacked McCarthy we would have stayed up that season.
Twixfix, slapping – consider it done young man.
You mentioned 6 victories, all of which stand out.
However you forgot to mention the five hundred defeats ( or something like that ) under him.
I guess we will have to agree to disagree, and have the same discussion later in the season when we go to their patch.
However, next season there will be no similar debates, as weem gonna romp the league while Flintstone Mick goes the other way!
Give ’em a scream from Texas tonight!
FOwb
The Zenga bus will Overcome the MM parked bus.
No problem about time we beat him.
COYW
Going to go with my Reading prediction (rare right call). Expecting another clean sheet but chances restricted and better shooting.
I predicted 3-0 on Saturday, and was close to getting that right, so going for the same tonight. Ipswich are struggling at the moment, and we’re so nearly on a roll.
Wooo we are gonna win 2-1
Hoping for a win but going for a draw,
Idriss Sylla, 25 year old Striker from Anderlecht. Do these guys not stop ……………….. Guess not getting Sako then lol
Wasn’t he under consideration for James Bond?
No Mr Bond I don’t expect you to talk I expect you to score.
If scotty could beam me up now , there would be no place on earth I’d rather be than the moll , under lights , blighty summertime ,
Last time I was there a couple of years ago was against Ipswich , Xmas time and for whatever reason the place was packed , my brother was flying in from Cyprus and I was given the easy task of getting the tickets as I was arriving a day or so before him , I had to get a corporate box in the end which was a very nice change but the football was as dire as the weather ! A few days earlier i took my boy for his first ever game , a 3 0 thrashing and couldnt even convince him to make the Ipswich game !! so I’ve got previous as they say , muck may want to park the bus but as some have said , if we get an early goal ! I will be pissed off though if Berra scores , that bloke had about 900 headers for wolves and couldn’t score , as Clive said he ain’t a footballer. Utw
What score would it take to get McCarthy sacked? Oh yeah, I remember…
Sorry, I got that patented!
My optimism is still well and truly intact. An up and coming flair team against medieval McCarthy and his stone age cloggers.
Very tight, but we’ll just edge it!
Mick will again be playing percentage football – long ball upfield and look to win the second ball. So we’ll need a physically strong midfield – maybe its time to put 4 in there tonight in a 4-4-2 ? Whatever, I have faith in Zenga’s ability to find a solution.
Hoping that Tex gets a chance to run at Berra, who is one of the slowest defenders ever to pull on the old-gold shirt. Us to take it, probably quite late on.
Would love to finally beat MM ipswich but am slightly pessimistic, he seems to frustrate us every season.
Going for a draw.
Tight win me thinks.
First game I’ll be attending this season, so hoping for an exciting one.
Come on me babbies!!!
I don’t know who said “Gather your rosebuds while you may” but in that spirit we should make the most of these early games and get maximum results before we get to the big boys (mind you, given some indifferent results elsewhere, maybe we should fear no one – particularly when all our new signings are up and running).
Given, the injuries reported from their camp I’m hoping for a relatively comfortable win. At any rate I’ll be glued to Wolves Player.
Missing Molineux already!
“Gather rosebuds . . . . .”?
I think that was Mike Bailey to Jeff Astle c. 1968
Bound to be tougher but with less passengers on board this bus can roll right through the tractor boys field!
Lots going on in the heads of the Wolves players who were with us last season; motivation and inspiration from the new boss, confidence from recent performances but there must be many with concerns relating to their futures. This may make them play as they did on Saturday but can also have the opposite effect of creating a fear of making a mistake. Very few mistakes against Reading but they didn’t exactly put us under pressure.
It is time for probability to work in our favour and for Mick to be heading home empty-handed.
Got a feeling i am going to get this wrong as i have been doing
all year so will say 2-2 which really means it will be 2-1 to us if you get where i am coming from. If it is 2-2 will give the points to Chalkie as he told me saturday this is his system.
pmsl. I think the only words I said to you on Saturday were Hi and Bye. I did recognise you though and addressed you by your correct name, not the name you were giving to Clive though – but that’s another story.
Sticking to my Prediction League2016/17 winning formula! Back to the shires on your tractor Mick with zero points.
This is going to be the season Wolves get rid of all their bad habits and not beating Ipswich will be first.
They have got players out but are coming off the back of a thrashing so it’s about time they had 1 off us as well. Don’t think that’ll happen so I’ll settle for a couple of goals & 3 points.
COYW
I was at Molineux on Saturday with my Colombian girlfriend who has now been converted to a fan of “Los Lobos”. It’s all feeling very positive at the moment and wish I could be there for every game.
Nice words from Mick McCarthy regarding Zenga and the club. Here’s hoping we can finally beat him tonight though. I’m going for a narrow victory.
Could be a tight match, I certainly think it will be tougher than against Reading but I still fancy us to nick it by a goal.
I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that none of our new signings gets crocked by an agricultural challenge from an Ipswich player putting a shift in.
Strange how Berra never scored for us but has about a dozen for them in less games. Hopefully he won’t add to that tally tonight.
I’m going great guns with the Prediction League ….. NIL POINTS.
I think tonite is going to be dour to say the least with neither team able to prise open two tough defences.
Not like me to be optimistic but last seasons blanket of gloom is lifting. I just hope I don’t end up with egg on my face with this prediction, as if so, i might have to crawl back under the blanket for awhile.
We have too much going forward for Ipswich so expect us to win, although the first goal is the important one, if we get it we’ll score again, if it’s Ipswich then we should expect them to shut up shop although I still think we’ll score.
They’ll pepper our still fragile defence and get least one, but I’m turning optimistic now and reckon Mick will go home pointless with a team unrecognisable from the one I used to thrill to in the early 80s. Beyond tonight I wish them well and a nod towards the playoffs.
Hard pressing and man to man of Mick on our strikers will allow our midfielders or defenders to score. I guess the winning goal will be scored by Edwards.
Berra to be sent off for pulling down John Dadi and then a comfortable win
It was nice to leave a game with a smile for a change on Saturday . Reading were pretty awful but it’s nice to see us looking positive and looking like there’s goals in us.
Tonight should be a better test of how good we are and as usual mick will be out to give us nothing so I’m going for an entertaining draw
Not quite there yet – 2-2
After the Reading game I’m going for a more positive prediction, but I can still see us conceding a goal, and this is a different kettle of fish to Reading. They will put up a brick wall. But I think Tex and Bod have the tools to unlock.
WE ARE THE MIGHTY WANDERERS!!
I think this will be a low scoring affair:
Up the mighty Wolves!!
decades of scar tissue tell me not to get carried away..especially this fixture…but what the hell..can’t quite get to a ‘clive'(tm)…but think we will win at a canter
I got the result right against Reading but not the scoreline. I went for 3-1 so it was at least the same two goal margin.
This time I’m going for the Reading scoreline.
Has to be another home win
should be a good contest with plenty to watch on the pitch and on the side lines
Score draw for me I think we’ll cancel each other out. Bodvarsson to score
Tight game tonight
McCarthy to go classic long ball and Ipswich to nick one and shut Wolves out
Come on me babbies!
I think this is the night when MM will come unstuck, let the spirit flow.
This will be a big test to where we are at, a close one i think ! Let the good times roll.
Wolves to win 2-1. Come on big dadi!
Half-time, 0-0, and it sounds like it has been pretty tough so far. I hope we don’t end up rueing the missed penalty.
Come on Zenga, let’s have another second-half tactical masterstroke!!
Gotta be happy with a point, I guess… but will be interesting to hear the opinions of bloggers who were at the game. This sounded like a proper test, as expected, and we didn’t lose.
We’re unbeaten in our first 3 matches and it is still very early days in terms of the team’s development, with more signings to come.
And Villa conceded a late goal to only draw too 🙂
That’s weird. Seems like everyone has had an attack of them there optimisms . I’m immune to such behaviour so I’ll plump for a narrow win 🙂
How Surreal is life as a Wolves fan, 19,991 turn up on a Tuesday night in the main holiday weeks in August, to watch two teams slog it out in a game that lacked quaIty, idea and In the end any of the new guys as both were taken off, to be honest looking quite tired.
That left the KJ team of three Months ago and we saw they were just not up to the mark, sitting in the wings we have the Prince and if Sky sports news are correct the Benfica captain, Brazilian Luisao is signed up on €2 million a year wages , (constant sobbing sound heard coming from the direction of Norwich)
Other names mentioned sound all together exciting. But we need to get them in playing and the KJ old boys club need to be supporting actors not the first names on the sheet. Edwards looked dead in the water tonight, Evans was back to his Derby away horror show of last season, Ikeme was back clutching for air instead of his air supremacy of Saturday.
So business as usual, a Work definitely in progress and the support tonight was nothing short of skin tingling with goosebumps thrown in. When we finally get it together it’s gonna be one hell of a place for opposition teams to visit.
The guys did their best tonight, it wasn’t good enough but Hey Ho, we are evolving.
🙂
The master Mcarthy did it again..negating most of what was done against reading and then kicking Teixeira into the bench for his own protection.
Welcome to the championship Walter incidently ..
This was an ugly 0-0 we should of won 1-0 and yet ipshit could of scored too..
Team build still in progress ..
we need a strong leader / captain to drive us forward although DB played well and saved the day at the end..
A point gained before blues which I make = 4 points this week as I fancy us at St Andrews.
First time I have seen the revolution in the flesh this season due to Family commitments…
To be Honest… Has KJ left the building??? Same old shit I’m afraid.. not sure the revolution has actually started yet..
Lots of people by me who were there Saturday saying Reading were awful and made us look good..
That I can believe based on tonight’s performance.. Nothing to shout about at all and telling that our 2 new star players were both subbed..
Apart from the football I was rather upset at half time as I shouted to Mick as he walked down the Tunnel.. “Still playing Rugby then Mick”..
A bit of light hearted banter I thought until the main steward came and asked me what I had said, telling me not to bother as I could face a ban… ??? !
There was me thinking Fosun were trying to fill seats not vacate them…
Well that was a disappointment!
Just got in after the 2 hour journey home.
Will post some cracking photos of the penalty tomorrow – am dead centre behind the goal in the North Bank lower and took a great sequence of pics. It was a fantastic save rather than a miss by the way, bottom corner down low right by the post.
Roll on the new guys and quick. Prince Oniangue, Luisao, Talisca – get them all in quick as the current lot are, as we all know, nowhere near good enough. Get Dicko fit quick too.
Best tonight? Tempted to say no-one but if pushed I’d say Evans, Doherty and Coady did ok. But only ok.
On Wolves player the defence seemed to do OK, attack restricted by Ipswich ‘parking the bus’. Overall a reasonable performance against a side that will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season and Wolves will only get better from the experience.
I was not there. I did not see any action. I can only therefore comment on the end result. So, if that is the case, then is it not 2 points dropped as opposed to 1 point gained?
We kept a clean sheet which is great news, but we failed to score. How many times does it need to be said, if you don’t score you don’t win.
Anyway, on a positive side. We didn’t lose and we are a team in development.
Looking at the penalty last night, you can’t fault it. It was a tremendous save. If it had gone in all the doom from last night would have gone. We are going places, in walter we put our trust. Finally please can I ask all supporters not to keep running down any player with a Wolves vest on . I’m sick of hearing the moaning regarding a certain player who loves this club
On reflection I think that we should be happy with a point gained. Ipswich were solid, organised and certainly stretched our defense a few times – particularly in the second half. Their disallowed goal looked a harsh decision from my view in the SB stand and we never really looked like breaking them down at any point. My view is that we were crying out for a wide player to get behind their defense but there was no one in the starting 11 (or on the bench) that could do so.
There will be a few more games like this but, if any of the current names being bandied around actually sign for us, I think that we can still be very optimistic about this season.
