Ipswich have been on a steep upward trajectory since Mick McCarthy arrived in Suffolk.

But that’s hardly surprising is it?
While it’s simple to question his ability as a Premier League manager, in the second tier he’s a proven heavyweight.
Having led three different clubs to the play-offs and lifted two Championship titles, his record stacks up against anyone.
At the time of his appointment at Portman Road, both Ben and I felt it was a clever move for all parties concerned.
Vacancies at Bolton and Blackburn might have seemed more enticing based on league position and immediate prospects, but Ipswich was definitely the smarter choice.
For a start, he couldn’t do any worse than Paul Jewell, so any success would be an improvement.
Looking at the squad too, it was clear to see they’d underperformed. Chopra, DJ Campbell, Murphy, Edwards – these aren’t superstars but they’re all players that know this division like the back of their hand.
So if Mick could get the best out of them, things would almost certainly pick up, and so it’s proved.
On recent form (the last 8 games) they’d be sixth in the table. Wolves would be 19th.
Wolves
This fixture was always going to be a big game, but the apocalypse against Peterborough has ramped it up to epic proportions. I’m just not sure Ståle Solbakken can survive another beating like that, in front of his own fans, against the man he replaced.
So what does he do?
Well, in the post-match interview on Boxing Day it was suggested that he may sacrifice some attacking flair for more defensive stability. But what that means in terms of personnel is anyone’s guess. Maybe something like this?

Stearman for Foley and Davis for Doumbia would probably make us tighter at the back. But does it make us better overall? I’m not sure.
I think we must find a place in the team for Sigurdarson. He looked sharp in his 45 minute cameo on Wednesday and brings an injection of pace to the attack.
Probably too soon for O’Hara to start, but I think he’ll definitely bring something to the team when fully fit.
Whatever the team, we need to move the ball quicker and get at this Ipswich defence. They’ve shipped 27 goals away from home, more than any club in the league. But as we’ve learned from recent experience, statistics like that count for little of course.
Prediction League
Only 3 people correctly thought we’d lose on Boxing Day and even the most pessimistic couldn’t foresee us getting stuffed 3-0.
So it’s just a point each for Old Goldy, timberwolf and martin.
You normally get a response after such an horrific defeat, so I expect a better performance this time out.
Every fiber of my being is telling me to say defeat, but I’ll plump for a draw.
2-2.
Up The Wolves.
* Just a couple of requests about the Prediction League please guys. Firstly, please don’t make more than one prediction. A few people have predicted one score and then later decided to change their mind to something else. Up to this point I’ve been lenient, but multiple entries from here on out will result in all predictions being void. Also, you sometimes need to give me a few days to update the table. I’ve had quite a lot of people emailing to say I’ve missed their latest points. Please give it at least a week before emailing after a match. Thanks 🙂

Wolves 1-2 Ipswich
Afterwards, an incredulous Mick McCarthy lambasts our hapless back four. “Where the bloody blinking blazes did that bunch of slackers come from?”, he asks.
I can’t see us getting much from this game. MM will send out a solid outfit to frustrate us
and then grab a goal.
Our only chance is to score first and score again.
I am fearfull given the current state of our team we can do that. Really hope I am wrong.
Wolves 0 Tractors 2.
Yes just read tonight paper one thing about McCarthy is he’s predictable just like his teams and his tactics and his reteric I knew he would say he would of kept us up he’s still deluded and self opinionated as I expected that’s sums McCarthy up he’s right and every bobby else was wrong one thing that was not wrong Mick was the Premier League table last February. That’s his problem And Ipswich fans will find out sooner or later that McCarthy is a one trick pony. I was going to predict a loss but I’ll say 2.2 but I hope we win and see what McCarthy has to say after wards more Yorkshire shite no doubt
I agree with the one trick pony sentiment about McCarthy in terms of his overall capability but in this division I’d take that over Solbakken – the no trick pony! It’s disappointing that irrespective of his many weaknesses some Wolves’ “fans” choose to slate McCarthy so much when he actually achieved something for us (i.e. 2 play offs, championship title, 3 seasons in PL). Just remember, in the time it’s taken Solbakken to mould an inherited squad with significant tier 1 experience, so that it is able to lose comprehensively to the bottom of the league, McCarthy had taken a threadbare squad to the top 6 in this division. I sincerely hope that if you attend tomorrow you pay MM the respect he deserves. For what he did for us after the Hoddle era, I for one will give him a standing ovation, on the basis of what Solbakken has achieved so far, I wouldn’t give him the steam off my s**t
To me what McCarthy achieved was brilliant, and he deserves credit but what I cannot give is my backing to someone who ploughs ahead regardless will not listen and thinks he no best all the time and that McCarthys trouble McCarthy onlys listens to McCarthy but as I said before and this is why Liverpool were so successful for the best part of 25 years no one is bigger than the club no matter what you have achieved in the past.
In a nutshell it’s not were we we’re its were we are that matters sentiment, living on past glories well be going back to the 50’s next McCarthy could not keep Sunderland in Premier or Wolves or any other football club I wont be giving him a standing ovation he never made a effort with the fans he belilltled us looked down on us you give him a standing ovation you milk his ego Im not going to its big enough mate
You are entitled to your opinion but with a club who have had very limited success in the 38 years I’ve been watching, it seems sad not to recognise one of our more successful managers . You would do well to remember that in the last 28 years ( I guess covering the supporting lifetime of most contributors to this blog) we have been in the top tier for just 4 seasons and MM gave us 3 of those. As much as we all beat our chests and love our great club , our record from the 80’s onwards is one of an average championship team at best. If nothing else, with less money than some of his predecessors , MM achieved what no other in the modern era has. Resent that if you wish .
So hard to say or feel anything positive after boxing day, you just feel lose this and the season could become one of survival for team and manager. My prediction is 1-1 more in hope.
Glad mcliesh as gone to forest at least one less thing to lose sleep over
Same here, more in hope than gut feeling 1-1 – Come on me babies
The curious case of the 4-4-2 Stale ‘Hoddlebakken’. A Ben Hur of a game almost worth the ticket money. He is in the difficult position of having to change things when it might already be too late.
4-3 to Wolves stick that in your pipe Mick (and smoke it).
It’s waiting to happen. The irony of Ipswich on a successful run since Mick and Stale’s inabilty to get results will be confirmed when Ipswich romp home to a convincing victory on Saturday. But will the owner and CEO admit their folly in this appointment.Surely they can see how apathetic, disillusioned and unmotivated the players are. Their current silence is deafening in its cynical indifference to long-term fans like me of 60 years!!!!!!!
Sadly think Mick is going to be walking away from this one with a smile on his face.
Wolves 1-2 Ipswich
500 mile round trip better be a good one. Wolves 3-2 ipswich
Wolves 1 – 3 Ipswich, never like a negative prediction but can’t help thinking Micks team will out battle and out perform sad Solbakkens, especially in the second half. Time for Fagin & Greasel to check the options if we lose again!
Wolves 1 – 2 Ipswich
Go Mick!
We have already sacked him ( see previous blogs ).
It’s called sarcasm, genius :-), based on sentiments similar to those of Neil Rose below. Hoping Mick can do us a favor so we can get rid of this useless excuse for a manager before he does more damage.
I think 1-1 draw as both managers will be desperate not to lose. Although MM might be a bit more ambitious SS is under real pressure and this is must not lose game for Wolves.
Personally I would like to see Ipswich turn us over 2-0.
Why? I think the appointment of SS is a clear mistake and the management are going to be persist as sacking him now would show yet another clanger dropped by the real laughing stock that is our owner Morgan.
However, another poor performance and defeat by MM’s Ipswich will make SS’s position untenable.
However, I think they will give him chance to get some players fit and the Jan window to sign some more (Cheap) foreign imports. Who knows he might get lucky and find a real diamond unstoppable goalscorer from abroad.
Sometimes you need luck and the for the last 18 months Wolves have had little luck to go with the appalling decisions made by the management.
Good comment and although still think Solbakken can turn it round, after Boxing Day am not so convinced.
The team are totally unpredictable.
Losing 3-0 against Peterborough was disastrous.
We are either going to fall apart completely, again and lose, or some of the players will grow some balls and remember the word ‘pride’.
For me Ward and Foley should not play for Wolves again.
Nevertheless, having smoked one of my Xmas pipes am going for:
Wolves 3 Ipswich 0
Hat trick for Ziggy Stardust….
As a life long Ipswich fan, I’m going for a repeat scoreline as their last game. 2-1 to Ipswich Town.
Ipswich will be a tough ask to be sure but there better be some drive after the last game! I’ll go for a 2-2 draw – Campbell will be a real threat and I can’t see us keeping a clean sheet but though Ipswich are a much harder nut to crack under Mick McCarthy they aren’t invincible!
2-0 Wolves, can’t justify this crazy prediction, can but hope!
if the players seemed nervous before then i bet my arse they will be absolutely crapping themselves over this one….not looking forward to the fallout when we lose backward wolves 1 ipsmick 4
My head say we lose my heart says 2-1 Wolves.
Please lets get SS out of here and a decent structure in place. It aint working. Sorry.
4-5-1….surely.
Wolves 1 – 2 Ipswich
UTW
I will be landing at Heathrow Saturday morning at 9am, a steady drive up the M6 should see me arrive at the Mol around 1pm, couple of pints and my first game in 4 years! Could this be the longest journey to a game ever – 5000 miles?
Anyway I can see nothing but a win for McCarthy’s men, everything points that way
Wolves 0 – 4 Ipswich
you could try m40 m42 m5..poss. quicker total respect for the mileage jeddy boy
Cheers fella I’ll do that!
Welcome home …..hope you bring a sunshine result with you !!! ps , you got the score the wrong way round [ i hope !! ]
I hope so too pal trying the reverse Pschology bit 😉
Definitely go with Old “Sat Nav” Goldy’s route, much easier, and usually less old bill around!
it was my alan brazil moment of glory banners
3-0 to ipswich if mick plays it right
Wolves 1 – Ipswich 4 and a new manager please before it’s too late!!!!
My prediction:
2 – 2, with a last-minute goal saving Wolves from total humiliation. SS gets to keep his job,( just) but the changes in the transfer window are far more significant than any of us imagined. Mick’ s old team is finally disbanded but form continues to be inconsistent for the rest of the season. Cannot remember if this came to me as part of a dream or a nightmare!
This game’s going to be nothing about form or football ability and all about emotion. If we can get a goal in front, the whole stadium will be rocking and desperate for Stale to show we’re better off without McCarthy. 3-0 to the boys in gold and black!
I’m in the 2-2 prediction league club.
You just can’t pick which Wolves will turn up (or not) at the moment.
Wolves 2-2 Ipswich
2-1 wolves come on !
Wolves 0 Ipswich 2. At the final whistle MM + TC warmly embrace their players (all 20 of them). SM & JM have a sudden bout of norovirus along with most of the South Bank sackers (me included). SS is sacked on Wednesday (no point rushing) to be replaced by Sean ‘Wolves fan’ O’Driscoll.
From the predictions looks like ‘McIdiot’ and the happy clappers all set to get the last laugh – fair play to him and them.
I think Doyler needs a seat on the bench for this one with Foley hopefully beefing up the midfield.
Wolves 2 – 0 Ipsmick
I couldn’t be;lieve how badly they played on Boxing day and can only hope it was Xmas hangover. They will come out fighting tomorrow and show Mm waht they can do when they’re trying. Sigurdarson and Sako will excel, we can only win by keeping on the attack.
Wolves 3 Ipswich 0
Wolves 1 Ipswich 2 and hoping I get it wrong again and its a Wolves win.
I for one will applaud and cheer MM before kick off, the club is far healthier following his tenure, and who can forget the promotion year.
We`ve lost more games than we have won this year, and I see no reason why we can`t balance that up tomorrow by winning 2-1, squeaky bum last twenty minutes.
Wolves 0 Ipswich 2.
Mick is no mug here. He will know the old guard strengths and certainly the weaknesses. I am sure that the MM squad in gold and black will be unfocused and lacking concentration for the 90 mins. Solbakken won’t have a clue how to generate an impact when we go behind. So it’s a comfortable 0-2 to Ipswich.
Tomorrow will either be another capitulation or we will win well. No shades of grey.
Win 3 – 1 but might just as easily be the other way round.
Chaos theory predicts
Wolves 1 Ipswich 0
Ipswich 2 wolves 0 with 2 own goals one from wardy his only son.the other from berra who has never scored in a wolves shirt for us but will tomorrow for them.
It will be a great homecoming for McIdiot and all the mickites who will be clapping for him and cheering every wave, but don’t forget he was part of the problem why we’re here struggling
in this godforsaken place they call the championSHITE.
He won’t get anything from me just 2 fingers.
On the odd chance we may sneak a win it will make me happy to get one over on him.
Well, I want to dispel all this miserable doom and gloom. You’ll all be crying into your Christmas beer given the chance. We know the scenario by now, after every low comes a high and this means a win for WW on Sat. Yes I really do expect the boys to come good on the day. I think the players know they have let everyone down including themselves and I honestly believe the issue was with Ståle’s preparations for the PU game. He must never give players a day off unless they deserve it and the only time this lot will deserve a free day is when we are back where we belong, in the PL. He is still naively unaware of the demands of this division even after half a seasons learning curve but against IT there cannot, will not and must not be a repeat of his lack of respect for an opponent. The fight back begins now !!!! We don’t care at the moment how we win matches, just make sure we win, but for goodness sake give MMc and his team the respect that he and his new team deserves.
Wolves 2 Ipswich 1
As ever UTW !!!!
I see Mick’s up to his old tricks again, ‘we would have stayed up’.No we wouldn’t have,Mick. That team was shite and you know it.Also, you had reached your own end-game and hit the proverbial brick wall,so please Mick, no more talking bollocks.
1-1
One massive point to be proven tomorrow . One player to prove it . Step up Roger Johnson ….
I’ve just had my pre-match shower before the long treck northwards and home early tomorrow ….For me this is the real turning point of the season [ or otherwise ] . I’m pinning my hopes on the fact that we underestimated Peterboro’ [ who to blame ? everyone , but especially the players ] but tomorrow I feel we will see a full-on encounter . No hiding places anymore ..Roger Johnson to be inspiring – or sent off trying !! Mick to be overawed by a flying Sako …Siggy a brace , and Roger a wonderful header to cap the afternoon ….
Woives 3 Ipswich 1
I like the positive attitude. Let’s hope the players share our optimism.
We desperately need a win to put the wheels back on the wagon. But there is an air of desperation about the club at the moment, it has’nt left it since the TC 13 game fiasco.
Stale has certainly been underwhelming in what he has done thus far. No-one has predited the ultimate irony of a 1-5 victory for Ipswich. Can lightning strike twice?
I hope Wolves win & for Stale to kick us onto greater things & a play off spot this season as that should be the minimum for Wolves this year.
However has the rot set in too far now? Certainly I’d think a lot of questions will be answered come 5:00pm tomorrow.
Davies, Guedioura, Keogh, now Mick and TC. It’s already written isn’t it? Wolves 1-2 Ipswich
No, we cannot go there again this season. On Sat we break the mould and move on !!!!
Tough one to call this. On the back of the Tangerines win, everyone was expecting 6 points from the next two “on paper” winable home fixtures. The Posh came to town to show us that the paper was’nt worth the s**t that had been wiped on it, and flushed it away.
McCarthy certainly seems to have turned the Tractor Boys around, and will have his arrogant yorkshire head held high as he revisits the Mol for the first time since his (in my opinion) untimely exit.
So the S**t beat us, and beat us good. If it had been Manchester United would the Morgan knee jerk have been as swift? Guess we will never know. But one thing is for sure, he has a point to prove, and his newly confident players will be behind him all the way.
If there is one thing Merlin could do, it was get a shift out of his side, something we clearly seem to be lacking.
It’s more a case of show up, clock on, look like you’re doing a bit, then mope around for the afternoon until its time to go home.
Despite having said all this, I do still “trust in SS” and so for his sake as much as 3 points hope we grind out a win. I still feel when the window comes, and the injuries return, he can turn this ship around.
Plus my only Niece, who lives in Australia, whom I havn’t seen for about 7 years will be at her first Wolves game with me bro, so to Jed above, sorry, but your 5000 miles is sadly well beaten, in relative terms thats more like an away day drive to Port Vale from Fordhouses.
Anyway, I digress, to my prediction…….In this seemingly unpredictable Leccy League……Sigurdarson has long hair, and will therefore be the new Kenny Hibbett down the right. Wardy will want to put on a good display for his dad so will be inpeneterable at Left Back and Ebanks Blake will wear his golden boots. Blue and white is a crap colour for a strip, and according to a well known search engine, we have a better record against blue and white than any other colour combination. and according to statistics, lots of ex-wolves players have stolen victory from under our noses with well taken goals, so ex-managers are bound to have similar potential.
However…………..we are due the rub of the green.
Wolves 2-1 Massey Ferguson Drivers
Apologies for posting so many comments the last couple of days if anybody is reading them. I am on holiday and sitting in a house full of festive booze. I backed MM until the last few weeks of his tenure but i am Wolves through and through and if the players havent got the balls to turn up tomorrow and stand up for themselves i would just fuck them all off. I like Stale but if he cant motivate the players what can we do but move on.
Ps lets give the youngsters a chance Ikeme was out on loan last season and he has probably been the best player so far.
So Mick McCarthy returns tomorrow with his resurgent Ipswich to take three points off us eh ? Come on lads lets wipe the smug smile off his face. Wolves 4 Ipswich 1
I’m inspired by so many predictions of draw or defeat to plum for a win. Only with the prediction league in mind. I’m feeling very nervous about this one. Wolves 2 Mickswich 0
You could put your house on us losing tomorrow. We’ve been poor all season. Bristol City aside, even the victories haven’t been warranted. 1 attempt on target against Blues that we won via an own goal. 3 attempts on target (one of those a pen) in our last win. Take Sako out of this side, we’d be rock bottom by now and SS would be rightly out of a job. I wanted MM to evolve, bring in a new coach with different ideas. It wasn’t going to happen so I wanted him out in the end but only because I thought the right appointment could have kept us up. I never wished for this. If only I’d realised the extent of Morgan and Moxey’s ineptitude in appointing a successor. We’ve gone so far backwards, so quickly that it’s embarrassing. Mick has proven himself a fine manager at this level and if we were planning to end up here we should have kept him. Wolves 1 – 5 Ipswich would be poetic. I’ve been a Wolves fan long enough to see this one coming. I’ve seen the script. Except this time our manager will keep his job because “we don’t want to make the same mistakes again” but not backed in the transfer window because we don’t really learn from our mistakes. You couldn’t make it up… except I just did… or did I? Please tell me it’s a bad dream and I’ll wake up soon.
we COULD end up in the same position as coventry if we cant stop the rot! all the talk of players not leaving cos they are on long term contracts..these days the contracts seem to be written in invisible ink! any more cock ups could see a rush for the exit door by the best of whats left..
We will be Lucky to get a draw.
If we play like we did on Wednesday, we are already beaten.
A game for the players and Manager to show what they are made of..
Wolves 1 – 2 Ipswich
I’m going for a comprehensive thrashing with 2 late goals for us: Wolves 2 Ipswich 4
Oh how short our memories are!
That numpty totally screwed us over, with his useless signings, most of whom we cannot get rid of, his arrogance, his pigheadedness and his tactical suicide.
If Ipswich win tomorrow, it will be greasel and morgan’s fault.
For not fucking McDickwadhead off two seasons ago, after we lost to Blackburn.
For not fucking him off last January.
For appointing clipboard.
For appointing Solbakken, but not giving him any money.
It will not be McDickwadhead’s skills as a manager, he has none.
Have we forgotten Old Trafford, where he played 10 reserves, at a time when United were vulnerable?
Have we forgotten his dinosaur tactics, time and time again, when he could not see what we all could, and didnt change things when our performances were not working?
Have we forgotten his love child, Ward? Bought as a forward, and played at left back…..and still there?
You couldnt make that one up!!
Whatever the score tomorrow, I will never clap that twat again, his failings as a Wolves manager far outweigh his few good points.
Bit harsh, but made me laugh more than once. Nice one Clive.
Clive glad you got up i got a long complicated history as a Wolves fan i am praying for victory tomorrow.
I can’t think of anything positive to say.
I’ll be in Edinburgh so won’t be at the game…I just wish I could be further away from what is being served up at Molineux.
Wolves 0-2 Ipswich
Just read in the E&S that our manager is going to axe players if they serve up the same crap as Boxing day.
Why didnt he say this much earlier in the season, as in pre season, after he had looked at all the dvds of last season?
I still say give him until the end of January to see what happens, who he gets rid of, and who he is allowed to bring in.
If nothing transpires, then a fuckin’ big revolution should start at greasel and morgans front doors.
When SS talks about ‘wielding the axe’, it means Davis in for Doumbia, Sigurdarson/Forde/Foley in for Pennant, Stearman in for Foley. Ward, Henry, Doyle, Johnson, Berra will not exactly be quaking in their boots.
He’s talked about playing more defensively so we might even see a central midfield 3 of Henry, Davis and Jonsson. A side that can barely muster 1 attempt on target every 30 minutes playing more defensively! I dread to think.
As for short memories, MM signed players of limited ability yes (thanks to Morgan and Moxey on the purse strings) but he started with nothing and got us promoted as champions. In the his blind favouritism and lack of tactical awareness was painful, I agree, but having seen relegation was on the cards, we should have kept him to do what he’s good at and then sacked him. Whatever you think of MM, he’s already proven himself to be a better Championship manager than SS.
Clive some players have stopped playing for SS. WHat a shambles.
Our only hope is Moron will wrestle War Chest off Greaseball and give SS a chance.
the ONLY revolution will be that of an empty mol
wolves are nothimg if not contrary – wth so many expecting a loss to MM, surely we can snaffle a win?
Wolves 2 – Ips 1
This will be embarrassing.
Wolves 1-4 Ipswich
Difficult to know which Wolves will turn up today. I have to admit I’m not convinced Stale can motivate this hybrid McCarthy team, but in comparison to McCarthys efforts at Ipswich my opinion is that he has had more than enough time to work these players out and as a quality manager should be getting a far more consistent set of performances out of them. Giving them Christmas Day off was naive and summed up Stales short comings as a manager in this division! That said I’m afraid McCarthy and his one dimensional tactics will prevail…Wolves 1-2 Ipswich. As to sticking with Stale well that is very much another story!!! UTW!
Thanks for the memories, Mick.
Wolves 2 Ipswich 1
UTW
Can’t see anything other than us losing this game.
Wolves 1-3 Ipswich
Maybe, Ironically, just the mere presence of Mick will galvanise our boys into putting in a shift.
So shift v shift. 1-1
Doesn’t sound that unreasonable to me. Shift v shift + Sako for me though.
2-1 Wolves.
I think there could be a lot of players putting themselves in the shop window for Mick to look at in the January Sales.
If they want to attract his attention they’ll need to put a shift in – but they won’t want to piss off their prospective boss.
So a draw would be best for all.
2-2
Logic says an Ipswich win but we’re so illogical this season i’ll go 3-1 wolves. It simply has to be better than the clueless rubbish churned out on wednesday!
Mick returning on a soggy Saturday. This has got nightmare written all over it. 2-0 to Ipswich.
Mick deserves a standing ovation today for all he did at his time at the club. He was shown the door too late but he can’t be blamed for that. His achievements are there to be seen, he gave everything all the time and you could never question his commitment.
It is a big game today for many involved. For Mick visiting his old club, for the fans who are unsettled with the replacement for Mick and for many of the players who will hope to be picked up by their former manager whom they clearly miss. Whether that will lead to worse or better performances remains to be seen. I am not sure Ståle sees this as a bigger game than usual.
Our form is patchy and many players don’t look interested so I think we should be happy with a draw.
2-2 for me.
UTW
i’d love us to win but having attended the posh debacle i can’t see it happening
i’ll go for an optimistic draw. 1-1
It’s inevitable with Mick coming back – we are going to lose, Mick 2 Wolves 0. Prove me wrong!!
OMG, 2-0 down followed by a double substitution……..and there’s still 30 mins to go……
I am so disappointed. I was so looking forward to the ” breath of fresh air ” after the MMc era but its turned into ” a cold wind from the north ” We are undoubtedly in free fall and unless something drastic occurs soon we will again be a laughing stock.
I can’t see the two Ronnies trusting SS with a £20 note let alone £20m in the Jan window. For me now there is only one outcome for us, the bold move for an inexperienced manager with potential rather than proven PL and CH pedigree, has been totally exposed as a cynical ploy to paper over the cracks which are now getting bigger and wider. The ship is about to sink beneath the waves, the players are totally disinterested in supporting the club and the manager, which is why he is so quick to take the blame himself. He appears unable to motivate the players. Is that his fault or the players..??? What’s the table going to look like tonight…??
Another absolute dire, spineless performance, but as ever UTW.
football team?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? tell me its april 1st please!
It is a complete shambles. Bad decision after bad decision takes its toll. We are a joke. We have all tried to justify and look for crumbs of comfort but there are none. The cynical act of selling our best players in the summer was the prrof we had little promotion ambition. Teams with ambition strengthen not rip the guts out of a relegated team. What are we striving to do? Finacial stability in the Conference?
NY Wolf. Reported that neither the gutless Dumb and Dunber at the game.
The players have stopped playing for SS. Will the Undynamic Duo back him.
Think they will sack him by text and bring a cheaper Manager in.
The silence from them is deafening. I am left wondering wheres the money?. They are so bloody blatant but can no longer be arrogant about it. The players have given up on SS. Strategisng about Berra in the press is about as dumb as it gets. if you want success and things dont work out you have to change things around a bit.
homer simpson eh alf..been a long time since it felt this bad
welcome to the world of moxey mr big apple wolf
It’s quite simple now, what’s the cheapest option..???
Bring in 5 or 6 new faces with proven experience and worth or unload management team and pay them off..??? Not that simple I suspect as there is one other option, do nothing.
I wonder what’s next in this dismal saga..???
This league is absolute dross. So many teams snapping at each others heels and we are unable to motivate players to want to climb out of this mess. Can you believe that we are still only 6 points off the play-offs and 9 points above the zone, unbelievable, yet we can’t even rise above it all. I thought last season was a low point but how wrong was I …??
Fer sure whatever the options are they will take the wrong one. Time to admit the mistake and regroup.
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha.
Laugh.
That is all you can do at a joke, and that is all we are, one big fuckin’ joke.
If this shower of shit were in Japan, there would be mass hari kari.
Absolute, mind numbing shit.
Those who dont get sacked need to resign in shame.
What a complete mockery of a once famous football club we have become.
All we can now look forward to is certain relegation, while being told we are a well run, financially sound club.
Forget Docherty, forget the Bhattis, forget Chorley, this is without doubt the worst period in the 150 or so years of the club’s history and I really am ashamed at the moment to be a Wolves fan.
Disgusting, the most pathetic bunch of losers, in every sense of the word, that I have ever had the misfortune to support.
Fuck them all, every one of them.
I will be glad to see the back of 2012.
Think mass prevarication will break out and some more dismal sound bites to come….
The top tw**s couldn’t make a sensible decision or plan to save themselves.
Only two options. Back him or sack him, but whoever comes after is doomed
with this dross.
Gate against Blackburn will be dire.
Last seasons scenario is starting to repeat itself, one dismal home performance after another leading to supporter unrest and criticism from all quarters. Then promises about transfer window funds which didn’t happen then more dismal home performances sprinkled with several away disasters. The response then has eventually lead to our present capitulations in this dross league. What goes around comes around and it may just come back to bite you on the bum..!!!
just goes to prove they dont know what they are doing and this will continue until heads roll
the pair of cowards!!! we know why they werent there and it wasnt because they work really hard and need a holiday!!! its because they are cowards!! between the two of the village idiots they have managed to take us from a prem. outfit to a nearly 1st division outfit and apart from sako and ikeme this lot would probably struggle in that division..and guess what we will get……silence and more silence! and the fans are fickle?
I suppose it was inevitable that they weren’t going to turn up.
Even though I predicted a draw I knew in my old gold heart that we would end up losing – and so did they.
They couldn’t stand the thought of McCarthy looking up at the posh seats and giving them the two fingered salute.
I am now going to get rather horribly drunk and forget that I support a once great club that is fast becoming become a laughing stock.
I should think that wherever the Doog, Frankie M, Billy Wright, George Showell and the like are tonight, they’ll be doing the same.
me too doogy …it beggarsbelief that a team being paid a kings ransom for playing football can be so fragile….we NEED a team in the mould of stoke ..real men and not a bunch of primma donnas…..sack the board sack the manager sack the players!..let the fans in the dressing room at half time..if that doesnt spell out what is expected i dont know what will!!
………and a manager in the mould of Tony Pulis, not afraid to say what he feels. The players know exactly what he means and what he wants from them. As a team they’re no great shakes, but they are where we should be and looking comfortable each season.
Is it definitely true that those 2 incompetent idiots weren’t at the match today? If that is so, it is an utter disgrace! There can be no excuse now for a January spending spree unlike the last 2 windows when you could sort of understand why money wasn’t given i.e. they were never going to give more money to Mick last Jan plus the late sales of Fletcher and Jarvis in August. Thank you M and M for ruining this wonderful club of ours.
P.S. Don’t bother licking Berra’s backside; kick him out now! Funny how no prem clubs didn’t come in for him wasn’t it?
M&M lack the bottle to sack the manager they are going to wait till Barnsley go above us with O’Driscoll. Time to press the panic button!
Oh my goodness, what a load of crap. How come any ex players or managers always comes back to haunt the Wolves. Ex players score, ex managers come and beat our backsides. I am so pissed off with the management of this club. Sack SS now, if after 25 games you cannot figure out any winning tactics, time to go. After the first half one or two shots on goal.. We played not lose and not to win. League one here we come. F**k the management, go build your f*****g homes and get out of this club. Take prick face Moxey too. Damn, can you tell I’m mad!!!!!
Well said andy my sentiments exactly.
know how you feel m8 you should be here watching it,or are you.
Great New Movie out today
“Total Humiliation”
Starring, Solbakken and the 3 M’s
I’m too tired of this shit to moan about it anymore.
Everyone at the club is totally clueless
Totally abject and thats everything around the mol at the moment like it has been for the last
three seasons,
can’t see any improvement come january unless we get rid of solbakken, some may say its to soon but where are the improvements and he said from the start se3e where we are come christmas, well christmas has been and gone,so morgan get rid now befor he waste’s any more money.
PISSED OFF.
I Just think now after thinking I was impatient wanting Solbakken out that it would be cruel to keep him there.
Boos at H-T, the majority of the players not wanting to play his system. We’re going to Shrewsbury, you don’t know what you’re doing, what a load of rubbish were the chants of the South Bank.
When Doyle was taken off the crowd chanted his name, how can you know what you’re doing when you take our best player off!
It took him until we were 2-0 down to bring 3 subs on! He took Henry off as well his diehard Captain.
Fans I have spoke to to a man want Solbakken out, its not soley the results its the way his team plays. It is rubbish to watch. We are inept, there is no plan. Its a team without a Manager as I cannot see what his influence is.
Fans will stay away, I am not coming again was another common refrain. We need a strong Manager with charisma to sort this team out. We need him asap.
His head is in the clouds with the zonal marking, and his claim that Wolves would ship the fewest goals in this league bar one of two others. Well we have a -4 goal difference now, so why continue with a system the team can’t play.
Even after bad losses he cannot change personnel. Given our big weakness at left back why not give Baath a game with Johnson & Berra and then use Ward or Forde as left wing backs? Its worth a shout, we’ve lost 11 games so an experiment can’t make it that much worse.
I hate calling for a Manager to go like those 606 fans who as soon as their team lose they want them out. Arsenal fans are the best at this, the difference between Solbakken & Wenger; league position & Arsenal do play well sometimes & win 7-3! I cannot see us under the current regime getting another win. The players have hit rock bottom.
We knew that many of ‘our’ players were/are no good: Berra, Ward, Foley, Stearman, Blake, Henry, all have massive shortcomings altho they may have played a part in the past – they are past it for us now.
The players should not receive their pay for today’s travesty -they’re like traitors for giving in to MM without a fight. Let’s get rid of them – Edwards, Hunt etc too, and start over with the new guys SS has brought in, the young ones, and 4 or 5 new signings in the January window -NOT loans, they never really fight for the club, let’s get players who can understand the modern game and have the skills and intelligence to get us back to winning ways. Too many of our players are donkeys – may work hard for MM but haven’t the football intelligence needed.
Good luck, SS, you didn’t realise what M&M had got you into, let’s hope they’ll give you the support now that the squad you inherited have shown just how spineless they are. (Ikeme and Doyle excepted !)
Sorry mate I have to disagree, yes the players are not world beaters, but the ones Solbakken has brought in are no better. Sakko today should have been substituted he was awful. Siggy shows a few good touches but ultimately he is not good enough to lead the attack.
As Solbakken said himself he will take the blame, the problem is the Manager I am afraid. You only had to see the players today to realise that.
The body language said it all. I now expect Wolves to lose at home, its that bad. When the opposition score I barely raise an eyebrow so accustomed have I become to this lacklustre outfit. That is, in my book, down to the Manager. No fight , no passion, dreadful.
Like i said its not to late IF we get the right man for the job + player’s because what we have at the moment are not up for the FIGHT.
Not so long back we were 3rd in the table, then suddenly we’re 14th – 18th and now we’ve just lost 2 matches at home when the 6 points available would have put us up to 7th or 8th, on the fringes of the play-offs. This league really is packed full of DROSS apart from maybe top 3 or 4.
Q… Why hasn’t this new coaching team worked out what is required to be top 4..??
A….They don’t know what’s required because they’ve never coached in the PL or the CH before.
As ever UTW…!!!!
I was going to say Lions led by Donkeys, but it’s worse…….
Donkeys led by Donkeys.
What a fucking shambles.
AND I would like to know what did Brainless and Braindead say to SS about
the plan for the club. He has been shafted, MM clones have conspired they should all be
sacked….IT’S A DISGRACE, to those who have gone before.
Now that MMc and TC have returned and won convincingly and in the process have shown us the technical inabilities of a number of our players, I don’t suppose he’ll come calling in the Jan window will he…??? So now we can’t even unload them to him. Brilliant..!!!
Hard to say anything positive , so will just shut up. Palace away, oh Christ !
Yes Cwmbranwulf, we are stuck with those useless of useless so called footballers.
I hate supporting WOlves at the moment. Hopefully everyone can now see what is happening. Morgan is NOT a wolves fan. I have met him and he is a snake. He is there to make as much money out of wolves fans and club as possible. Moxey is a dumb fuck and is just morgans mouthpiece. I have been saying thus since we have been in the premiership. Stale is the fall guy for this load of bollocks. Over the last 2-3 years what have us fans had to cheers. Fuck all. Please stop going to the home matches until morgan fucks off. His company is called REDrow, his son is called RED. Even liverpool dont want you morgan and we dobt. Take your stand, houses and training ground and get lost. I prefer the alternative, whatever that may be.
Totally agree the only way that things will change is to stay away, I know that will come hard to most fans but its the only way that will hurt the two at the top because all they look at is the bottom line not the position we are in the league.
I get really sickened every time we play opposition that includes ex Wolves players. They appear to discover goal scoring capabilities once they have left Wolves and its inevitably against us. To-day our ex manager and his team turned us over…….easily.
Meanwhile we retain players who appear not to know where the opposition goalmouth is and also allow others with the correct sense of direction to remain on loan. I notice a certain young man called Leigh Griffiths has scored 14 goals so far this season.
What we have had is The New Stand, A Restaurant and a Museum.
What we haven’t had is team investment.
No more to say…..except somebody is making money
and couldn’t be bothered to turn up.
how long before the m/m casino morgan wants his liverpool
