As the legacy of Margaret Thatcher divides a nation, I have another taxing quandary for you to consider.

Must win or mustn’t lose?
Victory tomorrow would be significant. But defeat is plain unthinkable.
The same applies to Huddersfield.
They’re without a win in 3 matches; a one way ticket to wrack and ruin with the points flowing like champagne in the Championship’s basement.
Conceding has been their Achilles’ heel. They’ve let in 44 away from home, easily the worst record in the division. And with just 19 goals scored, they’ve hardly been prolific either.
All this bodes well, as does their 11 away defeats. But despite the avalanche of goals conceded, they have managed 6 victories.
And they also saw Wolves off 2-1 back in October of course. Jermaine Beckford and James Vaughan both scored in that game. They, along with Sean Scannell will provide the threat again tomorrow.
Wolves
I’ve been encouraged by our last two home performances. Sure, the opposition weren’t great but then again I don’t think there’s a considerable difference in quality between 85% of the teams in this league.
Against Bristol City and Middlesbrough we grew into the game and eventually overpowered the opposition. It will be a tough task to repeat the trick without Ebanks-Blake, whose been central to the success we’ve enjoyed. This would be my XI:

With Davis out for the season, Henry is the most like-for-like replacement. I don’t know how Doumbia’s feeling these days, so it’s impossible to say whether he’s a contender or not.
If Doherty is ruled out, it has to be Foley coming in. We’ll miss the more physical presence that Doherty brings, but Foley has something to offer on the ball. If we’re on the front foot, we’ll see the benefit of that.
Sigurdarson should be moved up front for this one. I think Cassidy is too much of a risk. We can’t afford another anonymous performance. That opens up a place down the right, which I’d like to see Peszko fill. It will more likely be Dicko or Hammill though.
What Dean Saunders will actually do is anyone’s guess. The injuries are ridiculous and I feel for the manager in this respect. Still, he has options and whatever the team, we should be capable of seeing off Huddersfield.
Predictions
9 people correctly thought we’d lose at Bolton last Saturday. 4 of them also got the 2-0 scoreline correct.
Well done to Tettenhall Wolf, Ledbury Lupus, Wight Wolf and Wolves4everย for pocketing the maximum. It’s a single for the other 5.
I’ll continue down the road of blind optimism and plump for a semi-comfortable win tomorrow.
No logic, just hope:
3-1.
Up The Wolves.

It quite an irony that Foley probably will come in at right back. Having attended the away fixture, I recall we were outmuscled in the game, Pennant made his debut and received some welcome to the championship tackles. Both goals we conceeded were from long crosses over our defence where Foley was outjumped and out physiqued by bigger and stronger players to reach those crosses. I`m sure the opposition will remember that, and try that tactic again tomorrow.
I agree with you Thomas, defeat would be a disaster, unthinkable even, yet we have to get these 3 points. A balancing act for the manager to consider. I`ll be praying for any winning score but would predict a difficult 2-1 victory.
I was at that game.
Neither of the goals were due to being outmuscled at the back post.
More to do with being completely unmarked, particularly the acrobatic one.
I think it is pretty clear that Peszko won’t play, probably for financial reasons, so I hope we will go with Dicko. My main concern is the return of square-ball as our marked improvement started with his absence from the team. Sadly my predictions only seem to be accurate when I foresee us losing but I think we will edge this one and will go with a nervy 2-1 win.
I agree that Peszko will not play.
Obviously something financial, like building a stand, before a team to watch.
Anyway, for me the season is over, whether we stay up or go down, it has been an unmitigated disaster.
Hopefully we stay up; but my feeling is, that regardless of what ‘division’ we play in, a complete overhaul is needed this summer.
Wolves 4 Huddersfield 0
Anyone want to discuss Margaret Thatcher?
No? Oh! Well, see if I care.
I’m pretty confident that we will win this one.
I think our defence will concede but we’ll win by a couple of goals.
3-1
Killed industry in this country I left school 1982 my dad was out of work and my 2 eldest brothers I was the only one going out to work all be it a YTS. She privatised everything so the suites could make a killing and they did yes anyone could by shares but your giro just didn’t stretch to the end of the week never mind BT shares. She decimated communities in the North of England some to this day have never recovered, no need to mention the Poll Tax. The 1 thing she did that actually benifted the working class was the right to by your council house. She killed the Labour Party as I knew it in fact I voted Labour all my adult life until Tony turned it to new conservative, I mean Labour. She turned this country into a load of ” I’m alright Jack F..k you ” so people would not piss on you if you were on fire turned us all into consumer junkies. Gave the Banks a free reign. The coal industry needed sorting as did other industries but she did it in a way thar wrecked lives and split families apart she never even made plans to try and replace the jobs she was taking away from people she couldn’t give a toss about the North of England she was the one responsible for the phrase ” North, South devide ” 2.1 to Wolves
Oh yes and she responsible for the high energy prices today shareholders are king, pissed away North Sea Gas and she cut defence spending which included a navel presence in the Falklands she actually scrapped the ship that patrolled the Falklands that was surpossed to discourage the Argies from invading 1 year later they did and as she always did made out she was the savour. And the year after she reversed the cuts.
i don’t often agree with you mate, but you’re bang on there
She did nothing for me. I did nothing for her. She’s dead I’m not – I win.
Only to say she did more damage to this country than Hitler ever could. and for those of us still lucky enough to still be living here, we are still paying for it.
Ding dong the witch is dead. Moxey next !!!
i have been forced to remove my lucky y – fronts due to them letting me down and leaving the wolves on skid row..so i shall be getting a most definate airing tomorrow not unlike the hair dryer treatment the players will get if they lose ! wooolfy 1 – 3 udders .jez is mrs thatchers love child! -:)
Now that is a seriously horrible Gravatar!
I shouldn’t think your y fronts consider themselves very lucky if that’s what they have to contend with.
And if Jez M is Maggie T ‘s love child – who’s the daddy?
Answers on a post card.
my sources tell me its arthur scargill … its my passport photo doogy mate – do you like the tan? ๐
you look like the a****n mate
thats a bit true sleachy…. although 11 of em would be too much even for me!
Yeah, that is gross mate. Please change.
I know some would argue my face is equally offensive, but that is making me gag.
fancy a barbeque? ive got the sausages … it closely resembles the wolves and the position they are in (im glad you like it x)
We have to win, that is the be all and end all, 3 points is massively needed as I cant see us getting anything against Hull or Brighton and perhaps only draws at Charlton and Burnley, so 3 points are a must here…and I think we will do it.
Wolves 3 – 1 Huddersfield
UTW
2-2 draw.
how the hell are morgan and moxey still around…
I’m continuing my run of not predicting the games as it’s just too darn painful. I’m actually pretty mortified David Davis got injured. Watching the highlights from his performance at blues, It looked like he just had everything that Henry has lacked all season. Can’t believe he’s out just when he was coming good and one dimensional Henry is back in.
The team will be Thomas’s but with Dicko on the right. Pezsko’s long gone in terms of selection.
For me though, there is one man who seriously needs to step up his game. Especially with Davis out. Jamie O’Hara.
I’ve always regarded him as one of our best but despite being a consistant face in the centre of midfield for a good few games now he’s not performing as the player I saw him being in the championship. Where’s that terrific left boot of his thundering the long shots home? Personally I always thought he performs better when he sits in behind the striker as part of a three man midfield but I doubt Saunders would sacrifice a striker to do this. I don’t think I would either really. A shame as I think he’s gets bogged down in a midfield mire trying to defend..
So, no prediction from me. Just a hope of a wolves win and a step towards safety.
I sincerely hope that the reason Peszko hasn’t had a sniff is because of a personal fall out with DS. (Maybe he has been giving one to Mrs S on the sly, as previously suggested on this site?!) Realistically, does he train badlly? Has he refused to play for the reserves/u21’s? If the reason is financial and that if we play him we owe so much more money to his parent club or something like that then the powers that be at our club should hang their heads in shame yet again. Staying in this league should be put above all else, as should have staying in the prem when we were in it. I’ve heard a few people on here along with a few mates say that after this disaterous season they’re past caring what division we’re in next season, we just need to wipe the slate clean and start again. NONSENSE! Yes we need to wipe the slate clean and start again but please let it be in the championship and not in league one. I for one don’t want to watch stevenage and crawley every week and I sure don’t want us to have to resort to signing players like Patrick Agyemang because they ‘know their way around the league’. Please please everyone at Wolves, stay in this bloody league, whatever it takes!
statistically time for a draw, 1-1
i though pezko was out becuase if he plays one more game for us it activates a clause in his contract that will cost us money … and we all know the greedy fucks need the money for themselves …
I would play Hammil om the wing, he has always impressed me and we really dont have anyone fit who is more attack minded.
Disgraceful if that’s the case. Even if we owe another 500k (and I doubt that’s even the case), that’s 100k a game for the last 5 games. Worth it to give us a better chance of staying in the league? I’d say so! More so, we should have played him months ago and had better value out of the bloke. Just the sort of penny pinching that got us relegated last season and has got us into this shit!
3-2 Wolves for my prediction. More hopeful than anything else.
Hammil was a joke at Bolton- he is a light weight
I don’t think there will be anything ‘semi-comfortable’ about our run-in to the end of the season, never mind this game.
With one eye on the fixtures after this, I’m not over-flowing with confidence of picking up too many more points. On that basis I’d say this is must win.
Hopefully Bjorn can do the business if he’s given a run up front. I’ll go for a 2-0 win.
Going for a comfortable Wolves 2 Udders 0.
Peszko won’t play. The stuff about contracts is total bo-lacks, Saunders just thinks he’s crap. It’s a shame cos he looks amusingly like Zed from Police Academy, and he’s better than most of our players.
I think all this stuff about keeping it tight from Deano is bluff. We’ll go for it and win 3-2
I’m not even going to consider anything other than a win. 3-1 to the Wolves
I am going to match tomorrow. Yippee. I travel a long way so attend whenever, but not often enough. I have not seen a victory in 18 months, 18 MONTHS!!! Unreal!!!! Am i Jonah or are Wolves simply that bad. In my defence when we were in the Championship before i saw mainly victories or draws, same in premiership.
Sorry guys, but i am about to pour water onto your fires of enthusiasm and optimism. This is a battle between two evenly matched teams both fighting for their lives, it will be ugly and brutal and definitely goals will be scored as there are two poor defences. With regards to the manager’s, will Robbens is probably more experienced and streetwise, so advantage there. Man for man, Wolves edge it, but only just due to the rotten injuries we have. As a team, they probably have more unity and indulged in Championship battles before.
So the difference could be the home fans so lets cheer them. I don’t care about my predictions but if we get behind them, Wolves to edge it 1-0. If not 0-0 or 0-1 to them. There are two evenly matched boxers here slugging it out for the big prize, i can hardly bear to watch as it will so tight.
I think we’ll win.
Wolves 3
Uddersfield 1
Should get us out of the media for a while.
As Thomas has put it: no logic, just hope.
2-0.
Hoping to get there tomorrow after promising to get my daughter from Manchester Airport. (Brainless eh). I’m still convinced that without E B we cant find the net so easily so I’m going for a nervy 2-1 to the woollies.
Fearing the worst, but hopeful we will just edge it.
As I approach Molineaux I know I will be fearing the worse.
Madly Wolves 2 Town 1.
Wolves 1-2 Huddersfield I’m hoping for a win but still can’t get passed the fact that we managed by an idiot who is a patsy for the commercial director.
I’m going to go for self-inflicted failure.
Wolves 1-2 Huddersfield
Wolves 2 Huddersfield 1
It’s time to show who has them man-things.I’ll take us to show ours are huge!
Wolves 2 Huddersfield 1
big ears and a huge nose? and saggy balls.. how did you turn this round to mrs t ?
A nail biting wolves win, 2-1.
Siggy with the winner.
Its a must win game tomorrow,if we can’t beat these’s we deserve to go down.
with Hull up tuesday i’m looking for maximum points, why not,i know people think i’m MAD
but i am.UTW.
I predict 2 – 0 to the Wolves. I really hope we do win, I have to go up north soon to visit the extended family and one of them is a Huddersfield Town supporter and as you can guess hasn’t let me live the last result down, time for some revenge.
We are desperate for a win. With injuries, we will have to literally limp over the line, if we are to stay up.
Hudd out played us at their place in Oct, so it’s got to be “pay back time”.
Worry about lack of creativity and where the goals will come from.
Wolves 2 Hudd 1
I think the team you have picked Thomas is the strongest DS could field, we are becoming short of options. I only hope Foley is up for the task.
Wolves to win 2-0
COME ON ME BABIES
Without much confidence in what’s left of our team, I’m relying on Bjorn and Kevin to score a couple of goals, maybe Hunt too, and for the defence to defend successfully, leaving Wolves 2-0 winners…………..
Pieman quotes BBC WM:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22126889
eg ……..But, if the fans knew what we felt and why we have had to make the decisions we do, they’d have a different view…………….
The only reason he is disappointed is his bonus has had a chunk taken out of it!
its ok…hes just made up the shortfall with the what maisonette deal plus off road parking ๐ on the shirts next season
Don’t want to sit on the fence, but…………
As much as I want and believe we can win, every time the muppets come out with something soooooo stupid (courtesy of the E&S), they produce an equally stupid performance.
Commit yourself TW!!! We will win 2-1!!!!!
Wolves have an alarmingly poor record against Huddersfield, though the score-lines of a decade ago are meaningless, they add a little more concern to other problems such as the injury list, the tactical naivety shown by the manager, the erratic home form this season and having to play some of the old guard who have repeatedly proved their shortcomings.
Despite this, Huddersfield must also come to this match with trepidation, this is their ‘must win’ match as well and they’re away from home. Both side’s defences are porous so expect some goals; if Wolves can avoid their habit of making silly mistakes, this match can be won.
2 – 1 to Wolves.
Iโve got to be honest Iโm more nervous than confident about these last few games, mainly due to the fact that without Blakey, not to mention Sako I just donโt see where we will get our goals from. I would definitely go with Sigurdarson upfront and Iโm hoping this will be the game where OโHara starts to find some form.
A nervous 1-0 win is my prediction with a late goal from a much improved OโHara.
1-0
Can’t even contemplate defeat, wolves to win 2-1
Thatcher’s dead, but her legacy continues to ruin our country.
This season has life in it yet, but lose tomorrow and it’s time for the fat lady to start warming up.
a perfectly pointless point, 2-2
We keep saying this is a must win game for Wolves, but it is for Huddersfield too, possibly more so.
It could be the toughest game of the season as both sides will be after the same thing (3 points) and neither (especially Wolves I hope) will give them up easily.
Over and above skill and quality it could, and most likely will, boil down to whoever wants it most, and whoever possesses the strongest fight and determination to make the win happen.
We certainly didn’t see much of that earlier in the season, and I do not blame Stale for that, I remain adamant the players ousted the Messiah.
We have seen it more in recent games, and long may it continue.
How much of it is down to Saunders, and how much to players putting themselves in the shop window or fighting to at least keep a Championship wage, I will never know, and don’t really care, as long as it continues to the end.
I think it will be close run either way, with possibly lots of goals.
Wolves 3 – Terrie and June 2
I now realise my second sentence was a pretty obvious statement, and should apply to all teams from game 1 to the last one of the season. I meant to include the words “now more than any time this season” or something similar, but in my hast forgot.
Time to really dig in boys, looking for a second great result this week! Ding dong the witch is dead!!!1-0 wolves
So wish seb was playing , but
2-1 the wafflers
COME ON ME BABBIES!!!!
I’m assuming you are in Inversnikky? Am holes up in Paisley as the handle suggests!
I’m right up top, I’m the chef at The Tongue Hotel Fred……somehow Tongue Wolf didn’t sound quite right…..;)
Keep the faith…Wolves win 2-1. UTW
Hoping we can sneak a win with a depleted team
Wolves 1 – Hudd 0
Must win. Not exactly playing Juventus here. Time these players did some growing up.
Wolves 2 – 0 Huddersfield
More out of hope than conviction, Wolves 2-1.
Please Wolves, a win: 2-1 will do!
Prediction update:
Sorry Thomas for making an update, but I was too early – Henry will likely be playing, maybe even from start. That is a loss for us for sure.
Wolves defeated 1-2 I’m afraid.
Wolves 1 Huddersfield 1
Would anyone else like to see Leigh Griffiths play in gold and black.
23 goals in 37 appearances this season
.????????
Just going to watch him on Sky in the cup match v Falkirk, though I understood that he has made it very clear he does not want to play for the Wolves.
Wolves 3-2 Huddersfield
Must win game. Fingers crossed.
this is my wife .. couldnt you just love her x just for you thomas mate with your office boy stomach ๐
After my mess up with the lucky Steve Bull t-shirt I am much more prepared this week. Up at 6:30, 2 cups of coffee and a fag or three. Shower, Sh*t and correctly dressed. No excuses like last week, where I was unable to warm up before the match, fully warmed up and will manage a few more fags before, a lot during, and more after the game.
On current form we are 4th whilst Huddersfield are 17th. What does that mean? Naff all in this league.
Injuries have dealt us more cruel blows but we have a massive squad and will just have to get on with it, though the thought of Karl Henry back in the starting line up does worry me a great deal.
No idea what team changes DS will make but I am hoping that at the end of the match the scoreboard will read…..
Wolves 3 – 1 Huddersfield
๐
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22122399
I found this a bit embarrassing, especially the bit about . . . its better to win 2 and lose 1 than draw all 3!!!!!!!!!!!! Took a bit of working out. Comments like this really worry me.
Key battle Johnson v Beckford. Ha ha ha. Nothing to divide the teams. 2 – 2
Had a terrible dream that Wolves lost 3-1, consigning Wanderers to the third tier of English football. Pretty sure that won’t happen, though.
And we lost 1-3. Scandal. And O’Hara secures the downfall by getting a red card.
Time to count up the points in the battle so far: Solbakken vs Saunders. Solbakken 31 points, Saunders 17. I’m sure Solbakken would have improved and kept us up.
Jamie o hara ia a disgrace. I hope he never plays for wolves again!
What an absolute joke and on paper that was our easiest game of the fixtures remaining. The irony of Steve Bruce taking Hull five points clear of the third placed team is not lost as we did not think he was good enough for us. Really can not see a way out of this now not with this team and this manager.
I live in Bournemouth and will not be able to see Wolves at Dean Court as they look as if they may go up.
Can’t wait for work Monday and all the serious stick I’ll have to endure.
I’ve been off line for quite a while but this match always filled me with worry.
I went to the same fixture in the 90’s. Same type of match, end of season and as the home team we were expected to win. The score then was 1-3 and we were played off the park and they were relegated to Div 1 at the end of the season. Call it deja-vu but I just knew that this was going to be the outcome. On top of my own fears, the mystical outpourings of our deluded ex-captain as to what we are going to do to H on the pitch further proves that this squad is in desperate need of a cull.
What’s JO’H up to ????
Was this simply to avoid playing in the next crucial 3 matches ???
These experienced pros should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves They are a disgrace !!!
As ever UTW.
Bad. Bad. Bad.
But we’re not dead yet.
Do you really think that there’s still a chance of staying up ????
I’m generally an optimist but this is just too much. I can’t see where the required number of points are coming from at all. I’m afraid we have all been let down big time by bad management at the top and appalling attitude and under-performance from a core of seasoned pros who should be ashamed of themselves for consistent under-achievement throughout the season. What a thoroughly disappointing end to another shambles of a season. They are indeed a joke this season.
This may sound defeatist but I’m not too sure that any of the managers (and we’ve had 4 don’t forget) would have been able to get the best out of these time-wasters. The sooner they are off the pay-roll the better !!!!
On a personal note, living in the land of leeks, daffodils and rugby, I thought that Deano would sort them out but I am disappointed like you all with his inability to impact on these players and his obvious lack of experience. I hope that he will be given time to come good on his promises and meet our expectations, but I think it will take a bit longer than we all thought or are we merely awaiting the arrival of manager number 6 ????
As ever UTW !!!!!
What a load of bollocks that was ,to go a goal up and playing some decent football then after they score what do we do FOLD.there’s player’s out there who don’t give a shite and a manager who’s out of his depth i’m afraid,
The board moxey and morgan have a lot to answer to if we go down and i think now we will .its not looking good now we need to win 3 out of the last 4 and i don’t think its possible
but who knows.so dissapointed with today’s result things are sadly going agaist us.UTW .
Are Beckford and Gobern yet two more of our old boys ????
