They might be languishing down in 16th place, but Coventry have amassed more points than any of the teams Wolves have played to date.

Without the hindrance of a 10 point deduction, our East Midlands rivals would be sitting comfortably within the the play-offs places.
This is then without question Kenny Jackett’s toughest challenge so far and a great opportunity for his team to show their mettle.
Coventry are bringing a legion of supporters so this promises to be a fantastic occasion.
Coventry
Only Leyton Orient (27) have scored more League One goals than the Sky Blues (26) this season. And 18 of those 26 have come from just two players – Callum Wilson and Leon Clarke.
For Clarke this a homecoming some six years after he departed Molineux. You get the sense that attitude rather than application are the reason he’s been passed around 12 different clubs since leaving Wolves in 2007.
Something has clicked this season though and his partnership with Wilson is frightening. Wolves have the meanest defence in the division but will do well to contain the country’s most potent strikeforce.
Funnily enough, Coventry’s home form (in Northampton) has been the driving force behind their success so far. Away from Sixfields they’ve been less consistent with two wins, a draw and two defeats.
You’d have to say Steven Pressley is doing a fantastic job for them, battling against the myriad off the field problems to establish a team that looks capable of making a promotion push.
Wolves
The Notts County game was disappointing but it perfectly demonstrated the value of our bigger names. Doyle, Sako and Ricketts would all have made a significant difference in their own way. Hopefully all will play on Saturday:

That would be my team. I still think we’re fragile in the middle of the park so whichever two play in this one, I hope they step up their game and help control things better than we have done in previous home matches.
The odds
Wolves are again favourites to win this one at 21/20. Coventry are 5/2 and the draw is 12/5.
Leigh Griffiths remains Wolves most likely first scorer at 9/2, or if you think one of the Sky Blues’ deadly duo will open the scoring Clarke is 6/1 and Wilson is just outside that at 13/2.
Predictions
68 people correctly thought we’d overcome Colchester a fortnight back. 9 of those also got the scoreline to double up. It’s a single for everyone else.
Tough game this and a Midlands derby too. These teams certainly aren’t best friends and the big crowd should spice things up nicely.
I think there will be goals for both sides and I reckon we might share the points.
2-2.
Up The Wolves

With Doyle back in the side I reckon we’ll have the firepower to get at Coventry – but I just have a nasty feeling that this will be the game where we finally concede in the first half.
That being said – 3-2 win! Looking forward to an exciting match!
My concern is we aren’t good when we’ve had a break we all ways seem to be sluggish when you think it would be the oppersite you’d think we’d be raring to go. Another reason for concern is Leon Clarke it’s all most a given he going to score ex Wolves player he,ll be up for it, as will the rest of the Coventry team big game for them ideal chance for them to put a marker down because they’ve been deducted 10 points. I’m going for 2.1 to Wolves and if we draw it wouldn’t be a disaster although we need to keep the pressure on Posh and Orient. My little girls birthday so I’ll be in a in door play facility in Cannock checking my phone when she not looking. COME ON YOU WOLVES !!!!!!!!!!!
Hmmm…
2-2 draw.
Will Hennessey be on his way after his fine performance for Wales?
KJ apparently subbed big George as Golbourne is more effective at getting forward from full back and pinning their winger back. I’d personally like to see Ricketts start this one at LB, giving us more solidity than Elokobi (bless him) and bringing Stearman back in to the middle.
If we can keep em out, which given our recent record of stopping visiting former players I highly doubt, I reckon we’ve got the firepower to win, especially if Sako plays with any kind of point to prove.
Overall I reckon we’ve got enough resolve and ability (at this level) to pull results out of the bag, so ever the optimist: 2-1 to us.
UTW
read you comments on the fothcomming match, glad to see you wolves fans have a sense of humour 2-0 to the mighty sky blues.
That’s a strange kind of English you speak in Coventry.
What fothcomming match would you be talking about?
be nice mate, imagine if you were a coventry fan and you found a website where people were actually discussing one of your fothcomming fixtures, you’d be so excited you’d probably forget how to spell too.
Sorry about thot.
A feir point, very well maid!
Where’s your caravan, where’s ya caravan, gipo gipo
Watched them play the blades with the missus on Sunday. Wilson and Clarke look an awesome partnership but their defence is definitely suspect. I expect a shed load of goals and predict a 4-2 win for wolves. Sako to change the game again after we go behind.
But having said that it’ll probably be a 0-0 draw!!
Personally I would prefer Evans alongside McDonald. Otherwise Thomas lineup is agreeable. I would also like to see O’hara back into the fold again. up the wolves
I agree about JO’H. It’s time we all moved on and I feel he could add something to the squad. We are paying his wages so we may as well make good use of him – promotion is what matters rather than evening any perceived score. Do we really expect O’H to offer to take a pay cut when he is prepared to play? If we want to point the finger then perhaps we point it at the club for not writing a big cut in wages into his contract for successive relegations.
I was pleased to see Pzesko come on for Poland in midweek. While he didn’t do anything spectacular neither did he look out of his depth. To think he couldn’t even get on the bench in a team that was in freefall last season is staggering.
Looking forward to the match, but a bit apprehensive as this is the first time we’ve played one of the free-scoring teams. In some recent games, Wolves have been overrun in midfield but opposition strikers have failed to take advantage. That could be different against Coventry.
Having said that, they’ve conceded a shedload of goals as well, so we could well score more than we let in.
I hope Ricketts and Doherty will be fit for this match, as we’ll certainly need them.
I predict a 3-1 Wolves win, and hope to eventually see O’Hara back in the fold.
2-0 and another clean sheet for Ikeme!
Strewth! Of course another undesirable aspect of playing ‘home’ games in Northampton is that the Sky Blues can now be considered to be in the East Midlands.
I’m looking forward to what should be a cracking game although the worrying thing is that we never seem to get a good result at Wolves.
Also, just a brief word of thanks for the Wolves fans who have supported us in our fight against the move away from Coventry.
I feel for you pal.
We rattle on about how poorly our club is run but it’s nothing compared to the crap you have had to put up with.
I’ve always had a soft spot for Coventry and wish you all the best in the future.
But hopefully not on Saturday.
Cheers, you’re not wrong there. Good luck to you too apart from when you play us (& Shrewsbury).
you’re only west midlands by a few inches mate. the specials were awesome though.
That is true, over the years we have had responsibility for eastern border patrols. Don’t forget the Selector too from the 2 Tone era.
We’re on a roll at home 2-1 win.
2-1 to the Wolves for me as well
COME ON ME BABIES
On the basis that i am never right……… I’ll put the jinx on Coventry and go for : Wolves 1 Coventry City 2.
Come on you Wolves !!!
Wolves 2 – 1 Coventry for me please
I agree with a few others, tight 2-1 victory to the mighty Wolves.
Sako double.
Leon Clarke will do a air shot and wolves will win 2-0
I see this as a bit of a tricky one,The sky blouse’s are a good side by all accounts.
on that basis i’m going for a draw…….no sod it 2-1 to the wolves.UTW.
To all Wolves fans, be grateful you have a seat to sit in when you play at home, mine is a sofa in Nuneaton with a great view of the radio and can’t see a ball kicked . I will be there on Sat and will look forward to watch what should be a great match. Should be plenty of goals to see and hope we put in a good performance, thank you again to all of the Wolves lads who have backed the Sky Blues in the fight against SISU I salute you all.
Best of luck on Sat enjoy watching your team.
Best of luck in getting the cancer out of your club…at least your team has made you proud!
Wolves 3-2 Coventry.
A bit like England in their recent games, we will need to attack to win this one. Coventry will no doubt prove a threat on the front foot, but will also offer plenty of opportunities at the other end if we are brave enough to go for it.
COYW
Yes Dave, we’re all grateful to have sat and watched such quality football over the last couple of years, it’s been laughs all the way.
Wolves 2 Coventry City 2
Wolves 3 – Cov 1 for me
this is going to be a big test, and looks like goals at both ends my head says a draw but I’m going for 3-2 wolves
Let’s hope the international break doesn’t have a similar impact as it has over the last two seasons; we really need to try and keep up with Orient and Posh and certainly not endure a run of poor form as we did last year. I’m guessing there will be periods in this game when Coventry will be all over us, as in previous home games, but here’s hoping that we can score one more than they do. Wolves 3 Coventry 2.
Got a crap feeling about this one. Wolves 0 Coventry 2.
No problem 3_0 to us.
COME ON YOU WOLVES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ll predict that our hot streak continues with a 2-1 win!
Purely predicting a 0-0 result because I could do with doubling up on the prediction league! UTW
i was tempted by 4-4 for the same reason!
Hope I’m wrong, but I reckon we’ll be rusty after the break and we’ll get turned over in this one:
Wolves 1-2 Coventry
A 1-2 defeat that should have been much worse will provide a much needed wake up call.
The Mighty Wolves 2 Coventry 1
I have not been looking forward to this game because I think The Sky Blues have got a more than decent side that can cause us a lot of aggro.
My head says that we might lose narrowly but my loyalty to KJ and the lads says that I have to go for a high scoring draw.
3-3
This should be a stern test of our credentials on Saturday, Ideally three points could be crucial to take some momentum into Tuesday night, That said I’ll go for Wolves 2-2 Coventry.
As always, past Wolves player will come back to haunt us… But we will come back fighting! Wolves 2-1 Coventry – Leon Clark to score first.
The key to this one will be in midfield. Whichever team can grab control there will be able to feed its own potent attack. On paper we are stronger in midfield, but the fact that Crawley, Swindon and Notts County were all able to pass us off the park does not bode well.
For those who remember back to the 60’s Coventry have been a bit of a bogie team.
Leon will fancy grabbing a goal and his strike partner has pace to burn.
However they are slower than us at the back
Wolves 3 Coventry 2
We aren’t playing particularly well at the moment, we never seem to win after an international break, our ex-players always score against us, we have a few injury concerns especially in defence….
But I refuse to predict a defeat and my KJ inspired confidence in the team is going to continue as I predict a Wolves win!!
Wolves 2 – Coventry 1
UTW
Ricketts to left back and Stearman in the centre, Golbourne on the bench, is my preference.
Close to call this one and I have no crystal ball to enable me to see the future, which means I have no idea of the outcome but then none of us do. I will stop rambling on now……
Wolves 2 – 2 Coventry
Love & peace to all
Wolves 4 : 1 Coventry an even first half with the score 1 1 at HT. Wolves then step it up and put Coventry to the sword to give me a great birthday present. Come on you wolves
cheers to all you wolves fans who have backed us in our pursuit in getting our team back playing football in our home city true football fans stick together looking forward to saturday should be a great game. 2-0 to the famous sky blues. enjoy.
Easy tiger with the famous, it is all relative of course. Best of luck getting back to Cov…
Cant see us winning this one, the run will come to an end again. Leon will come home to roost
Wolves 2 – 3 Coventry
Old rivals and definitley a bogey team from the past. My head says a loss for us, but my heart tells me KJ will have us ready and the lads spirit will see us through to a 1-0 win. probably a penalty come on my lovely babies.
We never seem to do well after international breaks & Coventry are going to be a tough side to beat.
My head is going for a draw but my heart says a win.
Wolves 2 – Coventry 1
Can never goo against me Wolves! 3-0 to the old gold n black! Griffiths to get his first of many hatricks this season.
Tough one to call, but I think we have enough in the locker to take it.
Wolves 3 -1 Coventry
the coventry cobblers could cause an upset……but then got to thinking a fiesty game with old midland rivals will raise the bar and bring out better individual performances so 3-2 to Wolves. Griff and Doyle to develop a striking partnership over coming weeks.
Wolves 1-3 Coventry
Bad result!!!
Ps dont know what the Cov fans are moaning about we have had to have a new stand we didnt want.
Tough game, expect Sako to start if he has recovered from his illness…nasty case of Forrestitus apparently, anyhow both teams can score plenty, I think a draw may be in order, in which case….
Wolves 3 – 3 Coventry
UTW!
Really tough one this, hate to say it, but, nah sod it,
Wolves 2 Coventry 1.
In the fifty odd years i’ve been watching Wolves, Leon Clarke is just about the biggest donkey i’ve ever seen wearing our number 9 shirt.
2-0 Wolves.
I have no idea how to call this one. Too many moving parts.
On one hand we know we need a win and nothing less to stay in touch with the top two.
On the other hand, we dont tend to do very well immediately after international break, and you never really know how tired/fit the players are after return.
Add to that the fact that Coventry are stronger than they look in table …
I’m gonna go for a stalemate … I have a sneaky feeling both sides will be afraid to lose this one and might go careful.
Wolves 0 – 0 Coventry
We’ll see … hopefully it will be 3 pts to us instead.
Go Wolves!
3-2 to Wolves! Tough game ahead
The last time I saw Coventry play was right after Emlyn Hughes died.
The club did a reasonable tribute as I recall.
The game was doomed from before the start, as it was Mrs. ClivefromHouston’s first visit to the Golden Palace, and she nearly got ejected, for taking photographs, by a couple of officious prick-type stewards. If I hadn’t already paid for the seats, and the Bovril, I probably would have let them take her away in chains.
We lost 0 – 1 as I recall, to a goal by that Scottish bloke whose name escapes me but used to play for Liverpool.
However, my earlier memories of Coventry are not as bad.
That one season when we beat them 3 times, a league double and also a 2 – 0 victory in the cup quarter final, at the Mol.
For you young ‘uns, back then there was only one cup.
Also remembering going to Highfield Road and being battered for 89 minutes, us all screaming for the final whistle, to get an undeserved point, when Johnny Richards pops up to lob the ball over Bill Glazier’s head ( I think it was Glazier, certainly a head ) to take all the points!
Anyrode, prediction.
Once again, I feel a happy buzz around my ears, but that may be coz the door is open and the skeeters are about, but I think a comfortable 5 – 1 thrashing is on the cards…….in our favor, of course!!
As ever, FO wb
Was it Alan Hansen?
No, I remembered his name….McAlister.
‘If I hadn’t already paid for the seats, and the Bovril, I probably would have let them take her away in chains’
Nice to see that romance isn’t dead, Clive.
I’ve had a bad feeling all week about this match, what the heck Wolves 2 Cov 1.
4 -2 to wolves griffo first hat trick
Any scoreline at all that has 2 or less goals difference either way would not be a shock…
Wolves 1 – Cov 1
Wolves 2 Coventry 2
Hope I’m wrong and we win 2-1
I’m a bit torn on this one. I have come up with three possible results in my head and think they are all about as likely as one another.
I really hope this doesn’t happen, but I think we will get found out tomorrow.
Wolves 0-3 Coventry Cobblers
Hope I`m wrong Martin but Clough and clown come to mlnd.
Hard to call so will go for the run to continue. COYW!
Wolves 2 Coventry 1
This is certainly the most difficult prediction so far. I have a funny feeling about this though and I think we will score but not as many as them. Wolves 1 – Coventry 2. Hopefully I am wrong.
UTW/FOWB
Hope I’m wrong, but the optimists can’t be right all the time:
Wolves 2-3 Coventry
I think we have gotten away fairly luckily in some fixtures, especially when teams we have so far came up against have squandered chance after chance. Having said though overall we more solid. Coventry seem to be doing the business scoring goals. Wolves 2-2 Coventry
I expect an entertaining end-to-end game. Both teams are far better than suggested by the division they are currently (temporarily?) in. Hopefully Wolves will play with the freedom exhibited by England against Poland. Also our international players’ national sides all performed well this week, so there is an added buzz with the returning players. I expect 3-2 or 4-2 to Wolves.
I like your style. Thomas if its not 3-2 to Wolves then i will go 2-2 or 1-3 to the Ghost town.
Wolves 3-3 coventry
We never do well after an international break And explayers have a knack for scoring against us. Let alone the most potent pair in the country. But we have the most stubborn defence in the league. This is our toughest task yet. as much as i want us to win, Id go for a high scoring draw
I also have mixed feelings but suggest Wolves 2 Coventry 3 – I’ve been wrong before!!!
Wolves win 2-0.
Wolves 2 Coventry City 0
Accentuate the positive! Wolves 3 Coventry 1
Everyone’s been telling me how good Coventry are. How Wilson and Clarke are on fire and how it’s going to be a tough game for Wolves. OK, so they might be right, but Wolves are no push overs either and if KJ gets his tactics right, who knows? I’m going for Wolves to win 3 – 1 and look to Sako to pull something special out of his magic bag of tricks again.
2-1 Wolves but I think Leon Clarke will score 1st!!!!!
Fancy us to sneak it 3-2.
Agree with SG Wolf re international break and ex-players (if LC remembers us after so many clubs), but also Notts Co hangover, localish derby and potential for this to be the one where the wheels come off. But I’ll go for just a puncture and a 2-2 draw.
Score draw for me.
Wolves 1 – 1 Coventry
I feel uneasy about this one. It may be that I work in Coventry and can imagine the stick I will take on Monday if we lose.
Score draw for me Wolves 1-1 Coventry Cobblers
Ten, twenty. thirty. forty fifty or more, Coventry supporters lying dead on the floor, 80 coppers died trying to end the spree, , the day the north bank took covenrty. Those were the days.
I was with you clive when we scored in the last minute, only problem was the six of us were (by accident of course) standing in the Coventry end, and we got away with it !! This game on the Tuesday after we lost 6-0 at home to Liverpool, no wonder so few wolves fans went to the match.
As for tomorrow easy 4-0 win for wolves, and our mean defence comes out on top.
Coventry will be well up for this.
2-2 for me please, Thomas
Price and Henry with the goals for us! (Feeling a bit edgy)
Two fallen giants, it’s 5 years to the day that we beat Cov 2-1 at Molineux. A repeat will be just fine.
Big decision for KJ tomorrow – does Sako start or take place on bench. The midfield looked much better balanced at Colchester, but I think you should always play your best players and he is one.
Wolves 2 Coventry 1
Some of the history of this fixture is coming out. I think its great how younger fans are less tribal and more civilsed. But i went home and away in the seventies and eighties though i havent got a problem with what i encountered. Having said that a mate was ambushed and nearly killed in the early seventies. Have i got a soft spot for the sky blues no.
Wolves 3 – 1 Coventry. Griffiths hat-trick and an inevitable Clarke goal.
A very frought 2-1 win to Wolves…
Wolves 1 coventry 1. Always liked coventry since the best f.a cup final ( when it meant something) in 1987 with keith houghton diving header to beat spurs 3-2. Come on the wolves. Its gonna be a tough game today. To start with miuns 10 points must have been tough on the players, but their current run shows the manager has the dressing room on side. Plus, playing all home games in northampton. Wolves really need to be up for this game or we will lose
A tough draw. Wolves 2 v 2 Coventry
Wolves 2 Coventry 1
2 – 2, and I’ll be more than happy with a point against the bogey banana skins
wolves to edge an exciting end to end game 3-2
I remember standing in the wrong end at Coventry in the 80s with my brother. We lost four-nil. the only two not cheering.
Feelgood factor on getting off the train again .
Loads of Coventry fans around so a good atmosphere guaranteed …hoping to continue my good run of predictions , so
Wolves 4 Coventry 1
Tough game, but it’s at the Mol – 2-1 Wolves. Our defence has been something to admire this year for a change, and I think that’ll be the difference maker… How long since a first half concession?
