In the last three seasons, these two old clubs have shared five divisional changes between them.

Both have enjoyed the good times but have also endured their share of pantomime and misery.
For the moment at least, the equilibrium has been restored with the Wolves and the Bluebirds waging war on the familiar playground of the Championship.
Unsurprisingly for two clubs so familiar with the promotion relegation hokey-cokey, both have ambitions to make another swift exit.
On recent history it seems likely at least one will succeed.
Cardiff City
Annoyingly likeable would be a term I’d use to describe Ole Gunnar Solskjær. But like him or not, the track record of Norwegian managers in the Championship is anything but pleasant.
Just ask Messrs Solbakken and Berg whose collective time in charge lasted little over half a season. Cardiff will hope their coach’s Manchester United pedigree will make him the exception to the rule.
The early signs are encouraging. Two wins a draw from their three opening fixtures sees the Welsh side setting the pace despite losing a clutch of high profile players over the summer.
Campbell, Caulker, Medel and Mutch have all departed, but there remains some proven Championship talent along with the standard smattering of Scandinavian imports.
Kenywe Jones seems custom-built for this league and with the likes of Nicky Maynard and Adam Le Fondre also knocking around, firepower shouldn’t be in short supply.
Wolves
I don’t think Fulham are in great shape right now, but that was still a highly impressive win in midweek. There’s absolutely no reason Wolves can’t go anywhere in this division, play their football and expect to get a result.

I incorrectly predicted changes in personnel at Craven Cottage and just as well it seems. Kenny Jackett says the above starting eleven are making it difficult for anyone else to break in.
Even the perceived weaker links like Lee Evans are upping their game and establishing themselves. That can only be a positive thing, particularly with Henry, Jacobs and Ricketts waiting to step in if the level drops.
The return of Tommy Rowe and the expected arrival of at least one new signing before the end of August should leave the manager with good options, cover and variety.
The gaffer
Predictions
Well done to everyone who correctly foresaw victory at Craven Cottage. 11 people did so and also got the 1-0 scoreline to scoop the maximum 3 points.
The roll of honour is: robertsbridgewolf, steppenwolfe, fatjack, vicsmith, Lobo de Malaga, Danny Velinksi, Brompton Wolf, Perth Wolves, Border Wolf, Dave H and ferris. Congratulations to all.
I said to Ben in the week, isn’t it nice to go to games, particularly at home thinking ‘they’ll have to play well to beat us’. I think Wolves are a formidable team right now, so Cardiff have a job on their hands.
That said, I think they’ll be the toughest team we’ve faced because they have some of the best individual talent. Whittingham, Jones, Pilkington, Maynard, etc, all bring different threats.
Both teams will score, but I fancy Wolves might just edge it to make it a hat-trick of early wins against the relegated sides.
2-1.
Up The Wolves.

The Sak man again with a blistering strike from distance and a scrambled close range finish from Dicko to get off the mark.
A fierce Kenywe Jones header that Ikeme can’t quite keep out from an in-swinging Peter Whittingham cross for the visitors.
I challenge you all to take your predictions to another level this week.
Thomas,
Great work from both you guys, I’m a babbie blogger of only 12 months and in that time I have enjoyed some excellent banter from some mature, even minded, fair guys who share my love for all things Wolves. You have developed something really good here and it is a joy to partake each blog. As for our clientele, hands across the water and all that really sums it up. What we do in early years shapes our future, so we have some great following scattered all over the Globe, long may it continue.
On the subject in hand, comparing Cardiff and Wolves should take into account a wicked deflection off a Rotherham player is all that separates a ream that came from League 1 last year and the Premiership team that came down. This pleases me greatly at this early stage,
🙂
Concur with you on this one 2-1 to us -time Nouha got on the score sheet.
Well, I’m not doing too well at the moment. Glad to be proven wrong last week, but I would like to see the ball in the back of the net more often to secure these wins. We’ve seen at Rotherham that we can let them in even when we’re on top, so 1-0 isn’t going to be enough all season. The scorers need more or we need to sign that definite goalscorer.
Think I’ve only ever got the exact score right twice in the last 2 seasons Thomas, so predicting inswinging, outswinging, goal scorers etc is way too much for me.
But just this once, Dicko brace, one each side of half time.
Would like to see Jacobs come in for Edwards 1 – 0 wolves
Just a reminder mate. That score won’t be counted if you don’t enter in the boxes provided when commenting. Just letting you know in case you wanted it to go towards the Prediction League.
On the law of averages we can’t keep missing chances nor can we continue to keep the opposition out. Cardiff are no better than Norwich – 2-1 to the Wolves. On a different note, the failure to move out more than a couple of our “super stars” is a real concern. The amount of money being thrown away each week is quite staggering and must be a significant handicap to our hopes of progress.
Defensive solidity will be at the core of a resounding win this weekend, with the blistering pace of our forward trio (Sako, Dicko, VLP) catching Cardiff off-guard to pick up all three points.
Come on me babbies
We’re playing well, but Cardiff will be a much tougher proposition than Fulham were in midweek. That said, we looked fairly solid at the back as well, as I think we’ve got plenty to combat the likes of Jones and Maynard if needed.
We still need to sharpen up in the final third I reckon, but it is probably too early to start panicing too much. Dicko certainly ran his legs off on Wednesday, right up to winning the penalty at the death. Hopefully he’ll get the goal he deserves on Saturday.
I’ll plump for a draw.
Tough game – I’m with Bagsy on this one
I think they’ve saved a few goals back from Wednesday , Edwards may be out to impress his
Welsh brethren!
It will be very difficult for teams to score against us. Dicko to get both goals.
What are the chances of a fourth successive 1-0 in the league? I think this one might go against us, though. Pilkington catching out a napping Stears to slot home an easy one from 15 yards.
When I predict Wolves to loose, they win.
So why not continue in the same way.
😉
It seems I wrongly accused Lee Evans of having a poor game at Rotherham – turns out he out-passed McDonald in both number of passes and his accuracy was higher. What do I know?
I apologise Lee.
Cardiff will be our hardest game yet. With that it mind I can see this being a draw.
Wolves 1
Cardiff 1
I could waffle on but to be honest I am not in the mood.
🙂
Apologies for having my stupid head on !
My bad !
I hate that statement “My Bad” – must be my age!
*shrugs* Whatever !
Lol. As I said mate I am probably too old.
I’m 62 in October .. 🙂
Wotcha Brompo! Are you and Doog definitely in our little blog bar tomorrow? Me and Dad will try and be in there for around 1pm, hopefully with Thomas in tow!
Oh, and as for the score…I’m trying to jinx Cardiff!
We’ll be there.
See you later.
Am in Low Hill now. See you around 1230
Always the pessimist.
Don’t care who scores as long as we get more than them
I hope my prediction is wrong..we really should win this though… this is the big test for our defence DB particularly..
They are worth a goal ..but if we do swing it ,it will be because we have taken our chances ..
If we do win then I doubt it will get tougher…
Big atmosphere and dodgy streets as they will bring loads with them…
” It’s a long, long ball from Peter Daniel, dropping over the top of Needham, for Shilton, but Shilton isn’t there!! Andy Gray, like a little whippet puts Wolves one up……..”
Oops, wrong century.
Tough game against the Taffys, but our crowd will be up for it, coz for some reason the Cardiff supporters don’t like us much.
Maybe because we can do skilful things they cant, like read and write.
I think my usual prediction of 5 – 1 is a bit unrealistic this week, so I will go for a Danny Batth hat trick of headers, a long punted goal from Ikeme, and an own goal by Ole Gunnar Soldier, who shocks the football world prior to kick off by naming himself in the starting line up, in goal.
Oh, and Jensen Button to win the Belgian Grand Prix.
FOwb
Oh my lord, surely not Clive oh wise one.
When you said our Jensen would win F1 Belgian GP I know youve flipped. Hamilton wil win Alonso at a push.
I much prefer to go the opposite way, wolves to lose by two as they can’t keep missing chances and not taking advantage of their chances. Hence Jensen won’t make the end of the first lap having screwed up the start. That’s a prediction
Yow gorra root fer the Brits, ay ya?
Hamilton is a ponce and far too full of his own impotence, and Alonso is a has been.
Actually, I fancy that new bloke driving for Red Bull, Ricciardo, to win.
And I hope your footie prediction is wrong as well!!
I hate to predict a loss but think this result will bring us back down to earth. Wolves to score first through davvvvvve Edwards. Whittingham and Jones for Cardiff. Really hope im wrong
Across the Channel tomorrow so an early post.
A tactically astute manager, a mean defence and the goals will come for yet another win.
A thumping header from Batth and Dicko from close range.
Are you going anywhere near Southern Brittany Lynx? We’re going over next week too…
Much further south, Gironde in Aquitaine. Long haul in a day!
Have been to Royan and Vaux sur Mer a few times .. have a great time ..
What were the twixes like?
expensive … about 3 euros each
Merde! You’ll have to buy a family pack from ASDA before you leave Wolvo then mate!
Home and Bargain Sleachy ….. Asda is too expensive .. besides I dished all those Twixes out at the annual Wolves Bloggers meet in May and am struggling to keep Scooped and Ben happy each fortnight at the Mol .. hope to see you soon when you’re up this way ….
Thank you. You too!
Get yer arse to Carcassonne (spelling?)
Beautiful old walled city
it’s a RED wine location isn’t it .. trust you to go modest on your prediction and come up with a five nil !!!!
Would there be any vin rouge left if the bloggers met there?
You can count me in on that one for sure monsuire, ( sorry, went to same school as Clive)
Approved, was it?
Always up for some wine Lynx … iv’e become a whino since I’ve been going to La Belle France .. joking .. although I keep drinking it when I’m there …
I just can’t help but feel optimistic after three excellent games but would like to see just a little more cutting edge! So long as we keep tight at the back though we will be fine since a draw won’t be a bad result either!
As for the Cardiff manager I don’t think he will have the language barrier that both Solbakken and Berg had! Would expect the team to be pushing for the top six at least!
I’m optimistic, We played well in the week and I see no reason for that to change over the weekend, Sako and Dicko and another clean sheet in the bag I think.
Apologies Thomas I think I’m one of the multiple email address users. I work from several places and can’t always remember which email I use to log in. I hope I’ve used the right address this time…if not apologies again!
As for the match I think Cardiff have one of the strongest squads in the league and I predict a narrow reverse. I will of course be very happy to be proved wrong.
UTW
Hopefully the league will register this prediction. Hoping for a win but expecting a draw. Clarke to score.
It’s about time Dicko got a couple.
Here’s for a hatrick against ex premier
clubs. One day I’ll actually get the correct scoreline? In Kenny we trust
Three relegated premier league teams. Three 1-0 victories. Could it be true?
More goals than prev games this season, but think we may just edge it. RVP and Dicko for us
Must be the time for visiting La France , off to Languedoc tomorrow so miss two games…gonna be a tight one this
Safe journey. I enjoy a good Merlot myself. Well any Merlot to be honest !!!
Red their match reports, nothing to fear so far. Gonna be a Red letter day for them I’m afraid.
Can see us stuffing the Ovis Aries fornicators !!
Cardiff is onto something and have a new plethora of attacking power. We come from league one, and will prove too weak on Saturday I’m afraid.. Sorry I’m a realist
I shall respond after the match!
We won without scoring – I guess we’re on a lucky run !
UTW!
Dicko & Sako to pop in a goal each. Think it might be a tough game though.
Come on lads
It’s in … Cardiff score early to bring the sheepshagging fans to full voice. Wolves fans respond with some abusive taffy chant and the game restarts. GOAL! Wolves equalise in short shrift, quietening the baas from the away fans and Molineux is in full swing. Cardiff resume play and a loose ball is picked up by Batth and moved right to RVLP who skins his defender and swings in an amazing ball …….. Edwards gets his head to the ball and buries it in the top right corner …. 2-1 Wolves and 37 minutes played. The game is resumed once again, and Wolves keep the ball moving in midfield … to chants of Oh, Oh, Oh at every pass. 97 passes later the whistle is blown for half time without Cardiff having a touch since they kicked off after the 3rd goal. Half Time – Wolves 2 Cardiff 1.
Second half kicks off with Wolves retaining possession and putting Cardiff under pressure. The ball is moved to the left and picked up by Sako who drives into the box, beating one player, stepover and shimmy to the left and beating another and then dragging the ball back and flicking it into the path of the onrushing Dicko …….. GOAL!! Wolves 3 Cardiff 1. Cardiff kick off with intent and push forward but the ball is cleared by Stearman and falls to MacDonald, whose first touch pass to RVLP is sublime. RVLP bombs forward and drives a low ball into the box for Sako to shoot, but missing the near post by a fraction. Cardiff take the goal kick and the ball is moved around well and a lofty kick into the Wolves penalty area sees Stearman miscalculate his back header to Ikeme and the ball drops in over his left shoulder. Wolves 3 Cardiff 2.
Wolves resume play and play keepball, time is nearly up and 3 points are there for the taking. Excellent holding and passing of the ball see the referee blow for full time. Nervous end, but a cracking result!
What, no throw ins?
Yeah, there were plenty Sleachy, but would have made my post too long!! I am so looking forward to that pint in the beer garden tomorrow. I will have one for you too mate.
What time you getting there mate? Will try and drop by, as per above comment miles above this one, which might be difficult to see!
Around 1230 mate.
You need to get out of your tent on the A1 more, Brompton.
you really have no life!!!!
I do have a life, I go to Wolves matches ….. like tomorrows!!!!! Besides I have upgraded from tent to house now.
Joking aside Clive. I will have a drink for you too when I meet up with theDOOGooder tomorrow in that lovely beer garden.
Maybe you will put your hand in your pocket this time!!!
Said with feeling ?
Clive
I’m from Wolverhampton. I had my hand in his pocket the last time…..
Feckin empty
🙂
This could b e a real test for us
I’m taking my Dad to the Mol tomorrow as a belated birthday present although it’s actually my birthday this bank holiday. So it’s pretty much a present for both of us to get to a home game again. We live in Hertfordshire so it’s a journey we cannot do every match.
I hope the Wolves can give us both a birthday WIN, as the hatrick against the relegated prem sides would be a very encouraging start to the Championship season.
Followed the Fulham game on 5Live and like many felt that we should have punished Fulham more as we carved out so many good opportunities. While we miss firepower, everything else that’s positive seems to be there in abundance.
I’ll stick with a popular scoreline with Dicko and Batth to get the goals.
UTW. Make it a cracker!
I’ve got a good feeling about this one, I’ve got to get one correct sometime.
Home win for Wolves, Cardiff come crashing down earth.
Another step into the unknown, like all three matches so far this season. I`m sure we will see some very strong defence and a struggle to score from my black & gold heroes. However the glass has to be half full so I`m with the majority who believe we will surprise ourselves and score 2 goals tomorrow with the opposition getting one back. After all its early in the season, I suppose a squeaky bum last ten minutes is probable with us just about hanging on.
After a couple of good 1-0 win predictions I am venturing a 3-1 win to go on top of the prediction league. Sako, Dicko and RVP as scorers for Wolves. Should be a cracker of a game!
Cardiff may have a point more than us at this stage, but I like to think we’d have done alright away at Blackburn and home to Huddersfield and Wigan too. It’s already been said but other than a pretty flukey goal we’ve looked good for 3 clean sheets this season.
These guys may have superior firepower to our opponents thus far, but I’ve seen many games in which a team with a strong defense overcame the firepower of their opponents (Chelsea’s European Cup win springs instantly to mind), and I think KJ has the boys well drilled enough to keep the vast majority of attacks at bay.
Which brings our attention to the other end of the pitch. Will we have enough about us to score the goals to win the game?
People seem to be saying Dicko isn’t enough, but remember how many goals we got from the 3 behind him last season? Not to mention contributions from the likes of K Mac and the occasional goal from a defender. We’re playing the kind of football that allows all sorts of players to pop up in scoring positions, and when you look at the players we have to come off the bench and affect the game late on, I think a lot of teams will struggle to keep us out this season.
I’m going with 2-0, and I predict neither goal will be scored by Dicko (or Clarke if he comes on), and that one of them will be after a move of 10+ passes.
I also predict a lively atmosphere inside, at least 2 arrests outside, and the halftime entertainment will be Jez Moxey doing the ice bucket challenge in the center circle.
UTW!
A bucket wouldn’t be big enough .. it’ll need big tank at least …
A tiger tank?
Yeah, that’s the only thing black and gold that would look good on greasel….a Bengal Tiger!!!
Read you’re comment about 10 mins ago … only just stopped loffin … absolute classic …
Going with a common score.. Dicko to get on the board
staring to feel more optimistic about top 6 finish,….
They’ve got some proven Championship players, really afraid of Whittingham dominating our midfield, but am hoping for the best. Anyone have any info on their other CM, most likely Adeyami from Birmingham?
Predicted same score on Wednesday and was pleasantly wrong. Think Cardiff are a different class than the young Fulham side but the home support will lead us to at least one point.
Come on wolves smash the sheepshaggers up!!! WAW
I’ve got every one wrong so far. I’ve predicted results one way or the other on them all. Perhaps a draw can change my fortunes.
Dicko to finally get off the mark (as his work rate and intelligent play deserve). Probably either Sako or Edwards with another.
Sticking to the same prediction as midweek. Dickos efforts must surely yield a goal soon
Will be delighted to win, but if we lose, then at least I get a point or two. COYW!!
Cardiff to take the lead and wolves to level just before the break
Think a high scoring draw most likely
This may be the more difficult of games against the teams relegated this season , a real bench mark of how far we have come, or have yet to go.
Personally, I think we can match anyone in this league .
UTW
Ooh look. Sweet little birdies whistling and skimming around my head. And there’s a rainbow. And the sky is blue and pink and yellow. And I’ve predicted 2-0. Fanciful? Surely not.
I’ve decided to try the appliance of science based on scoring and conceding both being worse by 20% than in League One over the long run. The 4 goals for may be a bit optimistic, but they’ve got to start going in soon.
I can see a strong performance from the lads in this one, upping there game again against Cardiff.
Really Looking forward to seeing how they fair against a team that I’m sure will be in and around the automatic positions all season.
This is a Major test of where we are for me. I can only see Norwich kicking around in the playoff to mid table area and fulham unless they do something drastic may do a wolves 2012/13 style double drop unless they make some drastic changes.
We are going to get hammered but atleast we might finally get a striker in a knee jerk reaction, this club has a long way to go, just a prediction though and football can throw up anything. I also think they will injure two of our players. I like to be optimistic but this has trouble written all over it in my eyes.
I’m so glad i was wrong, but we really need a finisher, if we get one we might actually challenge for promotion. I cant believe im saying that but there you go ????.
Will be the toughest game so far. Don’t think we’ll score more than in the previous games and Cardiff seem good for one at least. This underplays how well we’ve played so far, but a real tester seems in the offing.
Think this is going to be exceptionally tough and I’ll be happy with a draw. That said I haven’t been right yet!
Good way to cap off the matches against the relegated sides, I’d take a draw
Wolves score an early goal and soak up lots of pressure with a Sako penalty in the last minute……. hang on perhaps I should change the score……….
Wolves will come of age tomorrow and play Cardiff off the park, hope the crowd manage to get the blow up sheep in.
Onwards and upwards
Hope I’m wrong !
Just found out that Cardiff play 5 at the back .. Can’t see Dicko scoring then if were playing 4:5:1.
That said it looks like one of our defenders may have to do the honours and score this week Danny’s my man with a bullet header from a set piece.
It really is time our mis-firing strikers made an impact. They have the ability,it’s just a question of confidence and a bit of luck…..this is the game to step up to the mark.
I have never tried to predict a Wolves’ result before, and would never bet on one,but good luck to the boys.
Wolftone
Apparently, Wigan played Cardiff off the park the other night so I think we can do the same albeit in a tight game.
I think this will be a humdinger but I think Cardiff along with Derby will probably be the top 2 in this division come the end of the season, so I”ll take a point from this to help towards a play off tally!
Reckon this will be an exciting one, especially as I’ve been offered a ticket but can’t go.
Dicko hat trick!
Could be a difficult game but I see no reason we can’t get a win.
I’m heading back to Blighty next week and will hopefully be at the home game against Blackburn. My first game since we last drew with Blackburn in 2012 on our way to relegation. My 9yr old will be with me and I’m hoping to switch his allegiance back to Wolves from Barcelona – disappointing I know but at least it’s not Man Ure – one of the many challenges of living in North America is we only ever see and here the top teams, and naturally kiss are drawn to them. 🙁
The bluebirds are scoring and the wolves ain’t scoring many. Hope I’m wrong!!
Grossly underestimated the guy perhaps that is his secret weapon.
Hmmm Moxey and the ice bucket challenge! I hope that water has a yellow hue to it and a vague smell of the old open troughs.
I expect to see at least 1 peach of a header from Danny Boy go crashing into the net tomorrow.
Toughest test this season I think at home. I still think we can win this.
both teams playing well so going for a high scoring draw
Looks even but we shall edge it
Sorry but can see this one ending in tears..
Get your money out Morgan..
I think this could be a really tight game between two good sides
Gonna be a tough, but I think we can win this one as long as we can take the chances we create.
Dicko a brace and Edwards will do for me.UTW.
Cardiff are not used to winning away from home after only winning at Fulham and Southampton whilst in the EPL; however Wolves will not find it as easy to keep possession as they usually do. Cannot afford to be wasteful in the box as there will not be many chances.
This blog is getting so popular, it’s getting difficult to find the time to read all the posts.
And, yes, tonight’s BIG question is – what do we have to do to shift Jamie, Roger and co off our books? Ipswich not interested? Roger to Fulham? I thought Portsmouth were lurking about for JO’H? What incentives would people suggest to get the market moving?
Solskjaer was a player I had hoped the Wolves would have hired back in 2003 when they went up to the prem under Dave Jones. He had just about become surplus at Man U., and I think would have been a great addition to our team to add some much needed class and experience back then. But all water long under the bridge that now.
So far I have not scored a single point in predictions, and I hope Wolves win and I shall remain scoreless. I do fear, though, that Cardiff have more in terms of fire power than we do, so going for the score draw.
Go Wolves!!!
Going for the usual shoreline more out of hope than anything.
Would like to see Dicko on the scoresheet and if we can keeping playing well as a team, don’t see why we can’t take the 3 points.
COYW
Biggest test of the season so far, I think we’ll fins this one difficult to dominate like on previous occasions which will mean we’ll struggle to score more then the one. That said the defence is looking as mean as ever at the moment so it should hopefully see us over the line. We shouldn’t be fearing anyone in this league.
Optimism is key
Expecting a great game. More of the same please Wolves.
I had it in my head to predict an away 0.1 win for us against Fulham, So I was kicking myself for not getting my prediction in. My frustration was washed away reading about the match and watching a brief highlights. I work with two aussies who follow Fulham and Blackburn (adopted from their backpacking days) so it adds a bit of spice to work. I’m enjoying it at the moment after having to take a fair bit on the chin for a few seasons.
Identity crisis Bluebirds fly home with red faces.
On the basis that I’m gonna predict a win every home match this season and that this could well prove to be the closest one of all I also predict 6 minutes stoppage time during which Ikeme will save a penalty & Sako will have a goal disallowed – all of which I’ll miss ‘cos I plan to leave after 89 minutes.
……. after 89 minutes? I guess you missed the goal then? lol.
It’s just not easy being objective (I’m secretly hoping for a Wolves win!) but here goes:
Wolves win, 2 0 simple.
I think Dicko & van La Parra will score. The Dutchman cutting inside the box and smacking a beaut in the top left corner, first goal for him. Game will be close but Dicko scores in the 76th minute to get his first goal of the season.
Is that the Red breasted Swallow.. Nah, it the red faced Bluebirds… LOL
I think Dicko & van La Parra will score. The Dutchman cutting inside the box and smacking a beaut in the top left corner, first goal for him. Game will be close but Dicko scores in the 76th minute to get his first goal of the season.
Fingers crossed..
A close game me thinks but wolves to snatch victory with a hard fought win and the fans providing the extra man. Come on the Wolves
The above comment should be by me BennyWolves don’t know why my name change.
Also please read score line not shoreline. Should make some good quip about shorelines but can’t think right now. Looking forward to listening to the game down under 🙂
Are you predicting as Benny or BennyWolves over the last 3 matches?
Sorry so it’s a prediction for Bennywolves. For some reason my name changed. Thomas do you need me to re-type my score?
Being very optimistic here.
I’ll plump for a draw…to be fair, Cardiff probably have the team to be expecting promotion, and big Kenwyne Jones is a beast, so I’d take 1 point.
Watched the highlights the last two matches keep up the good work and we could be in with a shout at the end of the season COYW
The bluebirds are in town, or should I say there red birds are in town the club that sold its soul to the devil in exchange for 1 season in the Premier league now don’t get me wrong if a billionaire was interested in Wolves I’d be saying sell sel Morgan but if that was at the expense of of heritage history and identity then I’d be begging Morgan to stay on.
Anyway to the game I think and I ll probably be saying this every Saturday but this is or will be the toughest game so far. They’ve had a good start but what encourages me is we have to even the defeat at Rotherham which shouldn’t have been a defeat we seemed to have carried on from where we left off last season performance wise I think we uped our performances .
So with that I’m going for a wolves win.
Sticking with my normal prediction, but think I would be happy with a point.
Excellent banter as always men (and any women of course lol!!!)
I predict our first draw of the season.
Hate Cardiff, there supporters are animals
Hope I’m wrong (again)
I can’t predict this one but I will gloat on this Blog site.
As I write we have 133 One Hundred & Thirty Three comments,
Yes true a lot of us chatty blokes put a few in, but that aside it shows what a good site this is, and anyone notice the absence of amy foul abusive language, mature, honest, passionate fans enjoying their love.
All you exiles, go to Wiziwig.tv or google Wiziwig, and watch all the Wolves matches live now were back in the Championship, the better we play the more we shall be the main course on the menu..
Best Blog on the Web.
🙂
Come on me Babbies!!!
just a wish really
In the excitement of packing for our weekend adventure in The Land of Gold, I have neglected to do two things….
Post my prediction on the blog… And phone my dear little mum.
Here’s the prediction.
Don’t panic mum, you’re next.
It seems that every game so far has been ‘our sternest test’.
This is no exception.
It’s going to be tight.
So I reckon a narrow win for us.
The PMDG’er is more confident.
She thinks 3-0.
I keep telling her to get a handle and make it official.
So far she has politely declined.
Maybe one day.
With Sue’s excellent record over last year I think she should make it official. And I have the perfect handle for her………the PRESCIENT MRS. DOOGOODER.
That is very good Martin!
Like it mate.
Simply can’t make my mind up on this one .So , a low scoring draw for me .
Another one for the future?
Wolves sign Romanian U17 international forward Nicusor Carnat after a extended trial at the club.
Nicusor Carnat is Romania’s U17 striker who came from “Gheorghe Hagi” Academy where he managed to score up to 100 goals in the last three seasons and where he bagged different individual titles and trophies.

1-0 wins all year will do me! If only I can remember to predict the mid week games I might climb the prediction league too
come on me babbies!
Well, the fans are doing their bit for this game.
Just been up to Molineux for my away tickets to Blackpool and Charlton, the queue was out the ticket office and round the corner of the North Bank, a lot of folk buying for todays game, Doogooder and Brompton you should witness a cracker today.
I’ve just got a feeling about this one. I think the team’s confidence will be up after beating both Norwich and Fulham. We know we can more than compete with the best this league has to offer. I watched RVP against Norwich and he is an exciting prospect. Disappointed we didn’t get Woods as I think the addition of an alternative striker would be the icing on the cake, let’s hope Kenny gets someone in but I don’t think we need to panic. Isn’t it brilliant to go into games knowing we are going to do well and probably win! Come on me babbies!!!!
Rumours that we are trying to buy Danny Graham – what does anyone think?
He’s been around the block a few times and never really set the world on fire .. always gives everything tho’ and I’m sure KJ can get the best out of him .. would be CHEAP too ..fitting in with Moxey’s DNA ..
1-1 not many goals in this one (he foolishly predicts)
I think the Wolves will slay the Dragons 2-1 today and Dicko will bag the brace.
Cardiff are probably the best of the relegated teams but after Wednesday night I think we can be a match for anyone in this league . Hopefully we can start converting more of our chances
As much as I try to envisage a Wolves won, I just can’t see it today.
I just think our lack of fire-power thus far this season will continue and, whilst we may dominate periods of the game, they will just have too much for us where it counts.
Dicko ha-trick…
Third time I’m predicting this result…by the law of average one day Wolves shall win 2-1 one day.
Great game vs Fulham btw!
Slate me…
Kenny’s idea of winning games is scoring from all forward positions and the odd one from a defender.
The sole striker role with pace is merely an offering to pull in 2 defenders and create the gaps needed for the rest to knock a few in. With that in mind, I still feel Dicko will start a run of goals soon and be unstoppable.
I know that the need for another striker is still a major talking point, but a good striker is only as good as the service he has from his team.
Replacing Dicko I feel is not the answer and I can’t see KJ playing 2 upfront all that often.
If Dicko needs a rest, then although I ‘ not Leon’s number 1 fan, he should be given a chance to see what he can do. He was on fire for Coventry, came yo us with an injury and never really got going with cameo appearances. In preseason he scored more than Dicko but so far has not had the opportunities to showcase if he can do it in the 1st team (Northampton aside as that was pretty much mainly our 2nd string with him).
Leon’s build and capabilities “should” be a Match for this division, he is still being cast out by us for previous misgivings and I bet “when” the team sheet for one of future games is read out, all you will here is the moans and boo’s.
As I say the jury is out on Leon but I think he’s worth a punt before getting too wrapped up in having to sign another striker.
Other options for a striker… Bring in one of our sidelined wingers and try out Sacko up front as he knows how to turn a defender inside out.
A stern test to be sute but kj is a tatical genius whilst ole… isn’t COYW
Norwich’s goal against Ipswich would have been ruled yards offside if one of their defenders hadn’t been lying on the goal line having a personal wrestling competition.
You’ve got it, Christofe Berra of course. Wonderful.
Should be a cracking game and atmosphere judging by the metal barrier the police have installed outside the ground to separate the fans. Come on you Wolves.
Just watched a really insipid Villa v Newcastle from a half empty Villa Park, this their first home game of the season.
When we get promoted at the end of this year, the Prem will hold no fears for our knights in shining gold and black army!!
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYES
Amazing when do we score in the last minute! We normally give it away…ie gillingham.
KJ charmed..
Who needs a striker when the opposition are helping you out?
Oh and now we can confirm that we “do” have the best defensive record in the division.
Hardest games remaining will be Forest and Derby… The rest “should” be on a par with the 3 that came down or worse.
1 goal conceded in 4 league games… Could this be another record breaking season? After all we seem so much better at the back this year!
FFFFFFFFFFAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHKKKKKKKIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNN
BBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brilliant game Clive. I bought the beers as you directed too. Was good to see the DOOGooders, the twixfixes and Thomas too.
Just back from the best match we have witnessed in eons, the scoreline for one is the most deserved result for Wolves ever. They absolutely dominated this game from the KO, Cardiff were like rabbits in the headlights, frozen, inanimate, lacking talent, idea or skill. A total mismatch.
Never seen such a one sided game and the goal was just rewards for Wolves dominance and Cardiff’s dull, boring play, we’re back where we belong, at the top of the table.
We are one Goalscorer away from the Premiership and that is all there is to it.
🙂
The Gaffer sums it up well:
“”We had chances in the first half, but the game seemed to be petering out after that, We had one chance which fell to van La Parra. The game was falling away and we were putting the ball in aimlessly, but in the end our goal came from one of those.
“Cardiff are extremely good defensively. They won’t concede many goals. They are hard to break down and are a good, solid, experienced team.
“They have a lot of Premier League quality.
“We have played and beaten all three of the teams relegated from the Premier League this season. Cardiff and Norwich are further ahead because they have good Championship experience in their squads and that Premier League quality. Fulham are more of a work in progress with a young team.
“Maybe we played Cardiff at a good time before they get into their rhythm, but there were times when we looked a class team.””
Was forced to listen on freeview 722 (BBC WM), even they conceded that Wolves were wiping the floor with Cardiff.
It always amazes me how many links they can provide to Birmingham City, apparently the Wolves ball boy aunty once drove passed the small heath club on the way to a funeral.
Anyway even BBC WM couldn’t ruin the game for me.
I think things will get a little tougher now, we surprised the three relegated teams with our superior possession play, future sides will pack defence and midfield and prevent Wolves from playing so expect more 1-0 scores and sore ankles.
