Someone on Twitter posted the results Wolves have achieved this season in matches that immediately follow a league defeat.
I can’t recall the precise figures, but they’ve won every game without conceding a goal.
It’s been lose, win, lose, win in the last four but those two victories have been as impressive as the defeats were demoralising.
The chips were well and truly down after losing at Fulham, but Leeds were routinely swept aside and it was the same in midweek after losing at Villa Park. Convincing responses that ease any fears of collapse.
Such ruthless professionalism is required again on Saturday, with victory expected, but far from guaranteed.
Burton
The Brewers were on the receiving end of a post-defeat backlash when Wolves battered them 4-0 at the end of September after losing to Sheffield Utd days before.
That was the most routine victory of the season against a Burton side possessing the worst home record in the Championship (currently reading 2 wins, 4 draws, 13 defeats).
Their away form isn’t quite so disastrous though (5 wins, 5 draws, 8 defeats) so odds are this will be a much closer game than the non-contest at the Pirelli.
With a goal difference of -38 it’s surprising they’ve managed to stay off the bottom (Sunderland playing a blinder). As with most strugglers goal scoring has been a problem. Only Blues (25) have scored less than their meagre 26 goal tally.
Darren Bent and record signing Liam Boyce (just back from long term injury) are the strikers they ambien insomnia treatment hope can score the goals they need in the remaining games but only have one goal between them so far.
Wolves
With Jota out, the team should pick itself.

It’s one start, one goal for Benik Afobe and I don’t think he’s anywhere close to top form yet. Confidence should be high after scoring in midweek though and that bodes well.
I still don’t understand why Nuno would ever leave Cavaleiro out of the side or for that matter why he so frequently takes him off midway through the second half? His ability to manipulate the ball and work positions will be crucial in this one against a team who will likely defend deep.
Helder Costa assisted two goals against Reading and saw a great effort from distance saved. He’ll be haunted by that late miss when clean through and still seems to be lacking belief. There’s still time for him to make a major contribution in the remaining games.
The odds
You can get odds as generous as 12/1 on a Burton win with Wolves overwhelming favourites to complete a league double over the Brewers. mybestbettingsites.co.uk provide a list of top betting websites in 2018 if you want to maximise your stake.
Predictions
I’m not sure if I’d describe this as ‘must win’ in every sense but I’ll certainly be disappointed if Wolves don’t collect the maximum.
I suspect Burton will provide a sterner test than many are anticipating but am hopeful of another professional performance to see us closer to the finish line.
2-0.
Up The Wolves!

3-0.
Details later.
Every game from now on is a must win .
The chasing pack are snapping at our heels,
We just do our own thing and win our games balls to the rest.
Blinkers on… know one else matters only us.
Send a huge message with this one.
Another trip north for me to see this one, this time accompanied by three buddies from the Ivybridge Wolves. Hopes are high amongst us that we’ll see a performance to match Tuesday’s marmalization of Reading. Unfortunately, one of our number has only been twice this season, Cardiff and Forest. If the same happens again, he’ll not come again. I promise.
Should be fairly comfortable though, and I’m confident of another three lovely points to consolidate our position at the summit.
Your team, Thomas, should have plenty to see the job done and with the international break to follow, we may have Diogo back and rested for the run in.
What a season we are having. Lovin’ it, I am.
Steve,
The news coming out is not good reference Diogo.
Sorry.
Noooo. I’d heard that it wasn’t as bad as first feared.
Nope, sorry. Worse than first thought. But we do have depth in his position thank Dog.
Can see nothing other than 3 weeks, maybe Boro maybe not, wheres this info coming from ?
I heard it from Stuwolf. 🙁
A resounding victory on Tuesday was just the tonic we needed .The fixtures left make me entirely confident we will gain automatic promotion to cap off what has been a most fantastic season .Whether we can do it in the PL remains to be seen but Fosun have delivered to date and the wise words this week from Shi certainly give me great confidence for the future .
Thomas I gree I think this will be a tougher game than Reading. It’s there cup final a chance to prove there not cannon fodder and can compete in this League.
They have Bent I know he’s not the Darren Bent in his pomp at Totteham but he’s stil a genuine threat he is an experience striker and could hurt us.
I agreed Thomas about Cav I don’t know why Nuno keeps taking him off he’s got goals and assits in him all day. I’d start with Afobe again even try him and Boni together I’m not writing Boni off he getting chances and is getting in some good position he just needs a goal from any where his knee his toe any where and they’ll start to flow again I’m sure.
I predict a win and would be very surprised if we didn’t get anything else.
Was very comfortable midweek but against a very poor side. I suspect that Burton will park a whole fleet of buses to try and get a draw so an early goal is vital. If we can get that it should be comfortable 4-0 Wolves
I cannot see Burton de-railing the Wolverhampton express. They may park the bus but once we have broken the deadlock it will be plain sailing. We have bigger battles to come.
I’m backing us to do the business again and think Benik will do the honours.
Agree they will park the bus. Agree it will be tough to score. When we get the first, the buses will remain parked to limit the damage
We did a good job at the Pirelli stadium, so there’s no reason we can’t do it again. Jota’s enforced absence allows Cavelerio to stay on longer and leaves a spot for Afobe. As we keep saying for every negative there’s a positive. Me I love watching Jota, but fate has taken a hand in this and only the footy Dogs know if it was for some divine purpose. I believe Jota’s absence will not be as bad as Neves due to the quality & calibre of playes we have for his position.
The word is he’s not going to be back as quick as first thought.
But on to Saturday and Burton in front of a home supporters sell out.
Wolves 5 – 0 Burton.
COMBambinos
Every game is a must win until we are mathematically assured of promotion and it will be a great dent to our confidence if we do not get three points. I believe we should at least replicate the score we had against them earlier in the season. As an aside – thanks to Helder for missing that final opportunity of a goal – it would have spoiled my 3-0 prediction. He can score this week to make it four.
Gone for a Burton. Wolves to win Afobe to start.
Nigel Clough are u listening?
To the song that we’re singing!
49 points in front
We don’t come from the Lunt.
Shittin on the vile as we gooooooo.
Wonder how any of these old Wolves players would get on in this day and age ?
Just watched the highlights, could have and should have been at least seven. Ruddy at fault with their goal ?
I wouldn’t exactly call it a blooper. Norris, with his reflexes, could perhaps have stopped it (?).
I watched it on catch up last night, there are a lot of players in front of Ruddy. There’s also a slight deflection on route to goal.
But the best fact: Ruddy has the the most clean sheets for ANY team in all leagues in Europe
Nuff said…………….
It’s funny how the pressure builds on the chasing pack, every time we win the pressure mounts on them. How many more cock ups can the vile make, games are running out- 3 points in the bag Saturday then let’s see what happens at Bolton.
Winning on Saturday will make The Viles trip to Bolton extremely daunting. The very thought of being 13 points behind with 9, possibly 8 games left (after defeat) would be crushing.
The team for Saturday picks itself really and although I can’t see Burton throwing the kitchen sink at us (proverbially) from the outset … parking the bus seams the best course for damage limitation. As always a lot depends on who scores first … hopefully it will be us and therefore a good old mullering seems on the cards. If the unlikely happens then a gutsy but close win will still prevail us.
I’m going for the former…..
The wolves fans at the game have to keep behind the team from the first minute to the last, it might be a goal late on that wins it . They all count-Clive from Houston when is the next time the Houston wolves are getting together for a match at Nicks bar?
So if we aspire to topsixdom in the premier league then an opponent that is a better -than -average pub team .. at home.. shouldn’t make us nervous.. should it?
Exactly .. no nerves
We have tougher games ahead before we reach the final lap against other relegation doomed folk
Clive will be thwarted once more
Jota .. get well Soon mate
like I said all the pressure is on the chasing pack, one or two more poor results and they are no more- here’s to the promised land. Up the wolves
The quality will show if the players are hungry and focus. A “cup-final” before a 2-week break. Get the winning goals, kill the game and prevent further injuries. We don’t need a cricket score. Just 3 points.
Go Wolves!!!
Another 3-0 works for me. Great seeing Costa back in the flow of things
More goals and another clean sheet, I reckon.
Burton aren’t going to be beating themselves up losing to us so will be more relaxed in play which can be dangerous.
By the same token, as soon as we score they’ll be mentally back on the bus home.
Home win
UTW
I think it will be damage limitation for Burton. An early goal and the floodgates could open. I think about how many times we’ve reached this stage of the season with nothing to play for. All change now. Hoping to see points dropped elsewhere.
URGENT……URGENT……URGENT.
Would anyone like a free ticket for the game? In the Billy Quiet, W1.
Due to circumstances beyond my control, but concerning ‘er indoors and Hong Kong, I am now unable to take my place in the Billy Quiet for this sold-out feast of football.
So, there’s a free ticket going for some lucky person. First come, first served, as they say.
Get back to me as soon as. 🙂
Brilliant article from Martin Samuel this morning. I think he is spot on. Will comment on Burton game later.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5507193/The-attacks-Wolves-vendetta-fuelled-jealousy.html
Saw that. It puts the moaning minnies in their place. I wonder what a forensic examination of all THEIR transfers would reveal! Villa have the great advantage of parachute payments as well.
John Terry £60K a week? Nice one John.
Good article, very “self explanatory” Thanks for the link.
Thanks for the link Tipton. Yeh, really good stuff from Mr Samuel there.
There’s a very good interview with Jeff Shi in the Express and Star where he explains his view on what’s wrong with the FFP system, shows he knows a lot more about business and how to finance a football club than most.
I have a sneaking regard for Nigel Clough – not just because he’s the son of an absolute legend.
I like Burton, because it is the place where they produce some of the greatest ales in the known World.
The best beer I have ever tasted was a pint of Bass, tapped direct from the oak barrel in the snug at ‘The Star’ in Bath. (I’ve tasted several actually).
I admire some Burtons.
But…
Richard, Decimus, Trevor, Richard F., Humphrey, Amanda, William Shakespeare, Tim, Cliff, LeVar….
Your boys are going to take a hell of a beating!
I used to like Burtons too; got measured for my first suit there, and misspent a lot of my youth upstairs playing snooker on full size tables. Those were the days. And Wolves were the best team in the country and Burton Albion were playing in non league !
Bennett, Boly, Batth, Doherty, Douglas, Vinagre, Saiss, N’Diaye, Neves, Costa, Cavaleiro, Jota, Enobakhare, Bonatini, Afobe, Wilson, Dicko – the 17 different goalscorers we have had this season. When was the last time we could say that?
Burton are much better away from home than they are at home but we will win and do so comfortably. Afobe to score again.
Come on the Trotters and the Rams!
OODCL
I was only thinking last night about how the goals have been shared throughout the team, Bedford. Thanks for the details.
Agree with your other comments.
Time for Cav to score.
COMBs!
When was the last time we scored seventeen goals??????????? 🙂
It’s because we have 17 players capable of bagging a goal that we don’t necessarily need a so called striker. Our style of play needs everyone to be able to link up with crisp movement and accurate passing.
Just read Jeffs article re: fair play rules and not being a smart arse I said the same when they were introduced under the pretence that they were there to stop clubs over spending and going out of bussiness that’s all well and good but if you have an owner with real wealth and wants to invest it in there club it restricts that.
I also think the rule helps the premier league keep the big boys on top the more revenue they generate the more they spend but if you are outside the premier you cannot generate any where near as much because the wealth ie TV money doesn’t filter down its an unfair advantage to the premier league clubs……so Leeds, Villa and Derby get on your soap Bose about that……..a……….a…….come on carnt hear you…!
I don’t understand why they wouldn’t allow teams to spend more if their owners immediately made up the difference. I believe that the owners can only pump in 5 million pounds per year to make up the difference under current rules. If they could put in more, there would be less of a concern of a team building up debt.
Wolves 4 Burton 0 Wolves 4 Burton 0
Shame about Jota, but maybe a blessing in disguise. He hasn’t been on his game for a few weeks now, no doubt due to tiredness and the kicking he has been taking. Time for a good rest and some welding work to his armour plate. A cameo role at the last home game and Sunderland just to soak up the plaudits and adulation then he will be fully fit for the premier next season.
Cant’ see anything beyond a win , would be great to keep the 10 point buffer with 8 games to go
COYW
Might seem like a easy win but Burton will be desperate to get something out of this game. We have been here before when Forest came to the Mol. That seemed like a home banker as well.
We have beaten 2 poor teams in Leeds & Reading and, on paper, Burton are in that frame.
However we all know we can’t take it for granted we will beat them. We should hammer them but I think it will be much closer that some of the scores predicted on here. 🙂
A narrow win it is.
Morning all, a long time lurker and occasional although less frequent poster of late here. I just wanted to ask a massive favour. My son and his school team recently represented Wolves in the EFL Kids Cup at the Mad Stad. Sadly they didn’t get past the group stage and in fear of coming across all bitter and “Brucie”, later it was found out that the teams in our group (Cardiff, Vile, Ipswich, Brentford) ditched their school team equivalents for their respective Academies and gave us a right good tatering. Needless to say when we came up against the Vile, our lads stepped up and managed a 0-0 draw so given the circumstances we were over the moon with that. The favour I’m asking is that my boy and his school team mates will come onto the pitch at half time against Burton tomorrow and wondered if you’d all give it the big one. Usually half time “entertainment” gets ditched for a pie, and while I’m not denying you the pie, I’d really appreciate it if fellow Wolves fans could give them a nice reception. Really appreciate it folks.
P.S. Can’t see anything other than another 3 points v Burton, lets av it!!
Best of luck to your boy and his mates Dave.
It’ll be a great experience for them and a proud moment for you.
Unfortunately, due to aged parent commitments, there will be two empty seats in the Steve Bull where the PMDG’er and I usually park our pert, firm bottoms.
But I’m sure there will be plenty of support from the rest of the crew.
Cheers DG’er, really appreciate the reply and kind words 😉
Pert. Ohh are missus
Dave, the Newark Wolves (there’s only 2 of us though) stay in our seats during halftime and we will gladly give the boys a round of applause from The Steve Bull upper tier. Hope they have a great day mate.
Dave,
Consider it done. Me & mi bro in law (Webb) his lads & nearest fellow sarf- bank neighbours will all pipe up.
COMEEEEE ONNNNNN YOUUUUUU MINIIIIIIIIIII WANDERERS
Britannia Wolf, I will check with Houston Lobo later today.
Very early in Houston, he’s no doubt still snoring his head off!
Darren Bent.
What a legend in the making……………..still!
He’s had more clubs than Tiger Woods, and been an outstanding success at precisely none of them. There’s a reason he’s on loan from Derby……………..he is crap.
As for bus parking, well, the passengers have to get off sometime, and that’s all Burton players will be tomorrow, passengers and sightseers, watching the greatest show on earth that is Wolverhampton Wanderer’s liquid football at full throttle.
5-1
Burton, Bolton, it don’t matter.
Players of the year Neves and Bennett, and Helda nearly back to his best, what could go wrong?
In past years, wheels falling off.
This season, nothing.
I hope Wenger stays at Arsenal, Jose at Manure, and all the other Prem dinosaurs keep their jobs, coz they are gonna be cannon fodder for Nuno next year.
Happy Birthday today to Mrs. Mark Davies.
and a medal for putting up with him for all these years.
Fowb
If we open the floodgates against Burton as some hope above, I will be delighted. But I see a difficult game, they’re a tougher proposition than Reading. With Jota out, surely that gives more opportunity for Afobe. He cleaned up for us in this league in the Jackett era. OK, the standard may have gone up since then but Afobe must still have it in him. I’m backing him to be a significant force in the run in. Tight 2-1 win tomorrow.
Can’t resist repeating that Neil Warnock is an anagram for Colin Wanker.
And Steve Bruce is an anagram for:
I am a whining, miserable old fart who will be lucky to make the playoffs.
Alan Pardue = Anal D’arupe
FOwb
After the Villa result all of Twitter agreed that 6 points is an ABSOLUTE MUST from the Reading and Burton game.
From that perspective then, its ONLY HALF TIME, and our bounce-back isn’t complete if we don’t do the business over Burton tomorrow.
Burton will sit deep so this is a big game for Afobe. Benik: park your big self in their penalty box, use your strength to cause havoc, and be ruthless with every scrap at a chance.
If that doesn’t work then Cav, Costa and Neves need to take a lot of powerful, accurate shots – not just pass it around their penalty box like they did against Sunderland earlier in the season.
Yes, but that was before Villa lost the next game.
Tricky to forecast as if we get an early goal could be a big win but do not think this will be as easy as reading so
Interesting interview with Jeff Shi in the E&S on FFP and a good article by Martin Samuels in the Daily Mail where he comes down firmly on our side and criticises the current form of FFP and has a not so subtle dig at Villa.
I firmly believe in some form of FFP to protect clubs against poor ownership (Leeds, Portsmouth, Coventry etc) but have always thought the current system just protects the status quo and prevents any clubs in the Football League from showing any ambition. Hopefully for the greater good of the game this can be changed.
AS for the match tomorrow….
9 games to go and 6 wins required to guarantee promotion.
We simply need to win all our homes games with a few tricky away games to play and this should be possible. I don’t think Burton will be as poor as Reading and are capable of causing an upset but if we stay focused and play to our ability we have the beating of them.
OODCL
Reading through Nigel Cloughs pre match press comments, he says they need to open up and play more freely rather than play with 10 men behind the ball. Surely that will only work in our favour? Burton don’t score goals and can’t keep it clean at the other end so unless something terrible happens tomorrow afternoon I just can’t see wolves not winning this one. Neves afobe (2) to score
I get worried when everyone thinks we’re on a cert and predicts scores of 4-0 and upwards – it rarely happens; or does/will it?
Looking at football scores across the piste, big scores are something of a very small minority. Why, God knows. A team can be 3-0 up at half time and everybody waits for a continued 2nd half drubbing of the oppostion, and it never takes place. Who can give a logical answer to that conundrum?
Anyhow, to the task in hand; 3 points is a must/certainty, and a few goals (for us) would do very nicely thank you.
Afobe, fill your boots.
Like the DOOGooder I quite like Burton for the Bass beer, remember walking into a bar in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada’s in Northern California to find they had draft Bass on tap. Bloody wonderful in the heat that day. however that does not mean I would be happy to see tham get anything from us on Saturday.
True they might be better than Reading, but not much, and I fully expect to see fleet of buses parked across the MOL tomorrow but we will surely have enough to find our way around that. Team should pick itself after Tuesday with Jota out injured.
Hopefully an early goal then some sublime football from our lads.
Onwards & Upwards
This should just be another day at the office with a comfortable win. Just take our time and let the quality show. I still wouldn’t mind seeing Norris starting the game, he deserves a chance.
On paper should be a easy win buy they will be fighting to stay up so going for a narrow win full house what a time to be a ?
Rumour confirmed……….
Jota out for 6 weeks, so Afobe has his chance and needs to make a statement.
Earlybird coming out in 2 weeks.
Plans in place for all 6 loanees to be signed at PL wage levels.
Bad news! I guess we have been very lucky with injuries this season though. Still he is our leading goalscorer so will be a big miss.
Surely a win against one of the weaker, if likeable, clubs in this division. They seem to sit deep and play counter-attack away from home so we’ll need to be careful, but we have enough quality to see this one through.
I can’t see us not winning this one,Burton are battling away to save their championship skins. But I think we’ll be to much for them even without Jota
I’m backing Afobe,Costa and a neves to score.UTW.
There’s double standards and there’s Steve Bruce

Not expecting the landslide that some are predicting. I expect us to win but it will be tighter than some would have us believe.
I hope I am wrong and we get an early goal to settle the nerves but I just can’t see it.
My mates boy , who was at wolves but is now at Burton , tells us that Burton are a good club so I wish them well but not tomorrow
South staffs derby that could go horribly wrong … Darren Bent , remember ?
I would like to see Jordan Graham get a looking as he is a good winger that no one is this division will have the measure of
i don’t think it’s going to be the cup of tea and a bun that people think
Portuhampton 2
Biggest Albion in the midlands 1
Burton is one of those places along the A38 that for years few paid attention to whilst scurrying by to watch football at Derby or Nottingham or onwards to join the M1 at junction 28 for Sheffield, Barnsley and Leeds etc for fixtures further north.
For a town renowned for making tyres, brewing marvellous draught beer and the Marmite factory (something I still eat some 61 years after my beloved mum put it on toast as an alternative to delicious beef dripping and salt back in the late fifties); the local football team plodded along unrecognised and unloved. It had the distinction of playing in both the Northern and Southern Premier leagues until in 2009 it won promotion to the fourth tier of English football from what was then the Conference. Further success followed with promotion to the third tier in 2015 and the Championship in 2016 – quite a meteoric rise for a club whose stadium holds just over 6,000.
AHH Marmite the growing up spread you don’t grow out of….nowt to do with football I know.
The club has appointed some fairly well-known managers such as Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbank, Roy McFarland, Paul Peschisolido, Gary Rowlett and of course the current incumbent Nigel Clough.
The team currently sits bottom but one with the worst goal difference in the division and three points from safety having lost three and drawn one of the last 4 fixtures.
Logically it all points to a Wolves victory but bearing in mind what happened at Villa Park on Tuesday (QPR had only won one away all season) its total focus time for Wolves on securing victory and another big step towards the holy grail and open up a 6 point lead over Cardiff who play Derby on Sunday and 13 over Villa who kick off at 5.30. Naturally Burton will be in survival mode and will go all out for a big upset but we should be too good on the day. Nuno will see to it!
Don’t want to be over optimistic or discourteous to Burton in any way but…..
Wolves 4 Burton 0
I simply can’t see it any other way – can you?
Have a great weekend Bloggers and enjoy the game – which I believe is a sell out in the home areas. We are departing about 10.30 with Bedford Wolf at the wheel (sore back permitting) and new Bedford Wolves member Tom also on board. On the way 2 quizzes – Eggheads and football general knowledge with a selection of 60’s sounds which will probably bore Tom to bits as he is only 40 unlike us old gits.
BOG
NB 1 – Coming next week a short(ish) story about Sunday morning football in Wolverhampton circa 1973. This is because an international football weekend is looming and I need something to bore the arse off you all.
NB 2 – Some are saying it would be a good thing if England pulls out if the Russia World Cup. Not because cretin Putin would give a toss but because it would avoid yet another embarrassing exit from one of the global football super powers – such as Iceland.
Maybe that’s a fair observation bloggers.
BOG, for whom did y’all play in the Wolvo Sunday League back then?
I played for about 10 years for The Sporting Star ( the Pink ) and then for The Vine in Wombourne.
Maybe we tried to kill each other on the frozen wastelands of Dunstall Park?
Hi Clive – All those years ago I played in various local leagues such as Bloxwich Combination, Dudley and Cradley, West Bromwich Sunday and the Wolvo until 1986.
In the Wolvo I turned out for Penn Social when Bill Owen was the manager plus a team from Coseley whose bloody name escapes me. This was about 45 years ago.
Among others – The Dudley and Cradley league was the 7 stars in Sedgley, Bloxwich Combination
was the Ring o Bells in Willenhall and the West Bromwich (later Sandwell) was Woodsetton Wanderers.
The “tale” next week involves a game at Fowlers Park off the Cannock Road plus a Ductile Steels interdepartmental game Monmore Tubes v Planetary Mill – I think.
I have jazzed it up a bit…
who did you play for Clive and what year? You never know.
Hiya BOG …. all of those years ago I played a few games for Springhill Spartak (I think they were called) on the pitches down Coalway Rd near the island with Oxbarn Ave.
I was also at the Poly up till 1971 ….
Greetings Twix – we are eating in the Thai tomorrow about 1pm if you can make it….
Tell you one thing about Poly – sometimes we had to work into the early evening so it was tea (or dinner for the posh fuckers) at 5pm.
Sausage, egg, chips, baked beans and……..thick gravy poured over the lot. Bloody delicious!!
I know about working into the evening … engineering courses never got the rub.
As for the Thai tomorrow… unfortunately we’re still in Christchurch and don’t leave until your Saturday… so won’t be making it I’m afraid.
Still a full 35 hr journey um to look forward to…. the Boggies will still be bottom though when we get home…. yer gorra loff ay ya…
Here’s hoping all Bloggers have a great day tomorrow… give the lads a shout for us from 40000 feet…
Wishing you a safe and enjoyable journey back to good old Blighty Mr and Mrs Twix..
The flight home from Sydney last year was tedious enough.
Hope we can meet up on Wolvo before season end.
Maybe Thai or Italian.
All the best
BOG.
NB hope you enjoyed the trip to the Antipodes a good deal more than our useless cricketers.
Cheers Mike …
Sorry Clive you answered my question in your blog. Must learn to remember…Yes I remember the Vine well.
I will be seeing a good mate tomorrow who may well have faced you – early mid 70’s maybe?
Clive – what’s your full name – will see if any mates played against you .
Sir Robert Clive Hill of Penn, Esq.
Crickey can’t imagine any sod forgetting that title – especially Penn.
Tuesday nights offering was fantastic, same again tommorow please.
Big bashing required 5-0 Afobe hat trick
Doherty and Neves from 40 yards ..
We just have to do these lower teams..
Put the house on it…
Think in a strange kind of way the injury to Jota might be work in our favour. He has not quite been at it since Christmas and probably needed a rest but could not see him being left out long term. Also, the front 3 of Costa, Cav & Afobe looked promising on Tuesday and if Bright is back soon we have another option from the bench.
Whichever team we field on Saturday should be more than capable of beating a Burton who have been punching above their weight for a while but this season it does look like they are going down.
One of these days in this memorable season, someone is going to get stuffed. Everything on the pitch will fall into place, the boys will click like never before and the opposition will be shell shocked. And I really think that the day in question will be tomorrow. I like Burton Albion, I have been there and had a great weekend but unfortunately they are going to be on the receiving end of a pasting. Really looking forward to the game but a bit miffed about the weather forecast. We have got the ticketmaster (StuWolf) on the case to keep us informed so hoping the news is good and we can travel from East to West Midlands and back without any hassle.
Hoping we can do the business tomorrow, we should win , but not expecting them to roll over like Reading did. Then a nice rest for the boys before the Boro game.
Can§t get to the game tomorrow but I agree with the comments about this could be the day we get Clives five and don§t concede.
Our central defenders for much of the early stages of the season were Danny Boy and Miranda, including the game at Burton. We got away with that combination, and our defence has been much the better without those two, and with Bennet in the team. So even with a past in Bent in the away side can§t see them scoring.
So another celebration of a second 3-0 win in a week to heap more pressure on the teams below us. Patrick for Afobe please.
A cricket score would be nice, but realistically a reasonable margin is much more likely. Can see Burton scoring a least one, but feel confident in going for a win. The right results elsewhere could do us a power of good, but with another win under our belts we’ll be in at least the same position as now – and that’s looking healthier by the day.
COYW
The weather will play a part by the sound of it. -1 with a gusty breeze. Hopefully ruddy will be ruddy freezing while he stands for 95 minutes with virtually no save’s to make. Whilst at other end Cav n Costa keep warm creating the chances for Benick to tuck away.
Strangely though I also fancy Benty to score, some players just do it against us.
Won’t be enough to stop the march of Nuno’s army though.
StuWolf – 6 weeks for Jota. By my reckoning he won’t be back till the Sheff Wed game on 28 April then?
On the Early Bird any idea when (and how) Away Season Tickets go on sale as am seriously thinking of trying to get one as I’d hate to miss out on trips to Arsenal, Spurs and the like.

Dave,
I asked the very same question yesterday (Friday) about the AST’s, the answer was, they have not been told and hope the 1100 cut off number will be increased.
One thing to remember, the early bird offer will open within two weeks? Then you have about 6 weeks to renew your current seat, so no great rush. I always feel better with it in my sweaty mitts 5 minutes after they announce, but there really is no rush. We can deal with the AST issue when we know more.
There would only be the likes of Borin mouth that would limit away allocation, but, they may still pass us on the way up.
Hiya Stu,
What’s the “1100 cut off number”?
They sold 1000 AST’s this season, ( the away fans pay another £45 on top of a ST, to guarantee getting first dibs on a ticket) this goes down to £35 each year you renew.
The demand and people moaning they couldn’t get an away ticket made them have a rethink and they increased it to 1100. Due to being in the PL next year it will get worse, so I’m buying two AST’s myself next year, hopefully they will increase it again, we shall know soon when early bird comes out.
The AST only guarantees a ticket if you purchase in the week before they go on sale to ST holders, and usually this means you get the worst seats, so it is better to wait, on low demand games, till about a week after they go on sale to ST holders to get better seats, or alternatively, take them back and change them. Another case of the club penalizing loyalty!
We need to talk.

Sad to say that following some poor results virtually every game is a must win if we want to go up as Champions.
If the Vile manage to make it to Wembley for the play off final, will the go on the Underground? They should feel at home……
Tonight may see Fulham become our nearest threat if they win as expected in the early game, we can then put a little more pressure on brucey before they kick off , no doubt he will have a little more to say about wolves champions league players in his post match interview regardless of his result!
Costa and Afobe to score
Utw
Having a final dip in the pool before our flight home.
Expect us to win this one but we am wolves ay we so…..
Another 3 points please lads.
I wish Burton luck after this match & hope they stay in the championship.

Clean sheet win with Costa & Afobe to score.
Burton will park the bus but I reckon once we get the first goal the dam will burst, if you’ll pardon the mixed metaphors.
Rumour has it that the Punjabi Wolves will be let loose with their drums on the South Bank tomorrow.
Why were they ever banned?
When I said tomorrow, I meant today.
Did they turn up?
Or will they be a day late.
The game is on the telly here in Bulgaria, nice to see they’re paying attention to Wolves. Quite a change to only season or two ago, they used to show Wolves twice a year at best.
Gutted about Jota’s injury but as other bloggers have already noted – we’ve been lucky on that front so far. There’s enough quality upfront though, not to mention nearly every player has a goal in him.
I’m going for the same prediction as against Reading (need to catch up those at the top in the prediction league, ha). Benik x 2 and Cav.
Good luck to Burton after this game. They seem to be the only team in the division happy to be in it, aren’t they?
what channel is it on? I will look for a feed.
Only seeing now, sorry. It’s on a channel called Diema 2 Sport, don’t know if streaming exist for outside of Bulgaria though.
Is the game on TV anywhere in the world?
Thanks again, QPR, for taking 2 points from Fulham.
Espn3 online is showing the wolves game- we will be watching in sunny Houston, great result for QPR 2-2 . The pressure builds on the chasing pack utw
No time to waste. Wolves to win and edge ever closer to the finishing line.
Come on NotloB.
Another 3 points towards the title, the boys did well…
WELL DONE BOLTON!!!
Jack Grealish?
Was he playing?
He’s the best in the division you know.
Chap called Karl Henry was man marking Grealish. Goal scored by one Adam Le Fondre!
Aston Villa lose to the other Wanderers. Goal by someone called Adam Le Fondre.
Funny what a difference a week makes.
Mind the Gap
Mind the Gap, Aston Villa
Mind the Gap
Mind the Gap, I say.
Mind the Gap
Mind the Gap, Aston Villa.
It’s getting bigger every feckin day……..
Adam le Fondre didn’t he used to play for us………..Ha……….Ha……….all the Villa fans will be crying in there coco tonight………….Ha……….Ha
Oh yes, I believe WBA didn’t win again today either…….
Afobe Afobe Afobe WHAT DID I SAY…!!!

Pressure pressure pressure now vile have to look forward to Fullum in the playoffs- good luck with that one.£68 million in wages and you can only make the playoffs, not much return there that’s if you make the playoffs ( keep looking down vile)great result wolves enjoy the break. Utw
H ey wolfstroker .. just wandered if all is ok ? Didn’t see you NBB , my southbound journey home was challenging to say the least but compared to yours ..well hope all is good geez !
Matt,
He said yesterday he couldn’t make the game. Tried to give his ticket away.
….
Cheers stu !
Thank you stu
Up the wolves
Hey Matt. Yeah, I was due to go but I was supposed to pick ‘er indoors up at Heathrow on Friday. However, she got marooned in Hong Kong and couldn’t get back until Saturday so bang went my footie game. Someone used my ticket though, so every cloud, an’ all that. Ying ‘n yang, or something like that.
Hope y’all enjoyed the game and glad yer home safe.
The lake in Canon Hill park has been closed until further notice due to an oil slick……..Jack Grealish fell in!
Doog,
Punjabi wolves got the memo for today.
They was there beating away.
Boom
Cracking day out. Journey from the Thai restaurant to the ground was like a scene featuring Captain Oates and the drive home was all snow, snow, slip, slip, snow but after another 3 points – and Bolton beating Bruce’s whingers – who cares?
Well done Afobe, 4 in 4, and Costa though the whole team did well. Neves? Have to amend my view on him. I’ve being saying he is the best midfielder in a Wolves shirt I’ve seen since the 1970’s but I now think he is the best midfielder in a Wolves shirt I’ve ever seen. The lad is simply imperious.
Was it really only 12 months ago that our 4 hour round trip to Molineux was something of a chore? Full of pessimism, dejection and indifference tinged with a feeling of wasting our time? Now it is a pleasure, even on a horrible day like today. Football, REAL football. Excitement. Skill. Talent. Confidence. Goals. Sublime movement. Possession. Comfortable on the ball. Happy to receive the ball even in tight situations. What a joy.
We are WOLVES and we are on the way back to where we belong.
And so are the Sandwell Shadow Dwellers. 😉
OODCL
P.S. another correct score prediction too!
Bedders, I have to second that re Sir Ruben Neves
I truely believe he could play centre mid in ANY league throughout the world.
I also think we have very few “world class” players in the U.K. but young Ruben is one of them.
& he’s only 21 yes old, wot the fek is he going to be like when he peaks at 27/28?
Just hope we can hold him for a few seasons to come.
Can’t wait to see WWFC 1st every week on MOTD
If there’s any naysayers left, check out the table tonight & understand we only need 12 points to Guarantee promotion
This is our time.
Enjoy the next 8 games of stunning football, exquisite passing & wave 2 fingers to the Sandwell shadow dwellers as we pass them in May.
Getting smashed at Sam Houston Race Park after the great results today.
Got a feeling this larger is off!
I think I’m gonna be ill later.
Even their lion has done a runner.
Looks like Brewsie has fekt Tony Oxo off & has his cash for cars allowance reduced.
& it appears Jim Royal knows a big club when he
he sees one

Love the pics guys – how do I post one ?
Sorry Guys just spotted the browse –
Veela fans woke up this morning to even more bad news:
1) if the snow had fallen 24 hrs earlier both their game & the one at the mighty Molineux would have been called off – meaning they wouldn’t have lost & WWFC wouldn’t had won.
2) that the gap really still is 13 pts with 8 to play
3) that Steve Boruuuse is still their manager.
4) that Greaseless isn’t the best player in the Chump
5) that they are still Veela fans.
UTW FOwb vile & blouses
Wolves fans ahead of the game had to endure awful weather that looked like this.
Wolves fan in Houston ahead of the game looked like this.
Not sure which is more scary.
Bedders,
What’s hanging out the bottom of Clives shorts?
???“Don’t blame it on the Sunshine”
“Don’t blame it on the Moonlight”
“Don’t blame it on the good times”
“Blame it on the Wolves board”???
