We could do with winning this.

I think a victory would extinguish any lingering fears of a relegation scrap and in stark contrast to last week, history is on our side.
Much like Boro’s stranglehold over us at the Riverside, Bristol City haven’t won at Molineux since 1931 according to the BBC.
That’s 18 matches undefeated at home against the Robins. Now would be a bad time for our reign of dominance to end.
Bristol City
There’s no doubting things have been looking up for City since giving Steve Cotterill the shove.
A run of three successive wins came at just the right time, elevating them away from immediate danger.
They’ve since sandwiched a win over Notts Forest with defeats against Cardiff and Brighton, meaning they come into this fixture on mixed form, but still with a five point buffer to the drop zone.
As well as Scott Golbourne, they also recruited Lee Tomlin on loan from Bournemouth in January and he has match winning ability at this level.
From the outside looking in, I get the sense they’re on the up, so this fixture is a tougher challenge than the league table suggests.
Wolves
How much of Friday was Wolves playing poorly and how much was Boro just being better? They obviously had more quality but it was disappointing that they were quicker to every ball.

McDonald had a poor game and invariably if he’s not firing, the rest of the team struggle to get into a rhythm. Hopefully he can do better tonight.
I wouldn’t abandon the shape because I still think it offers us the best chance of being successful, but I would throw Mason on in place of Sigurdarson.
We keep hearing he’s not really cut out to play the lone forward role, but he did it for Cardiff against us a few months back and I seem to recall they did rather well, so why not give it a go?
Hause for Ebanks-Landell represents an upgrade to me, so I’m not too despondent, but the sheer volume of injuries is a concern. We have hardly any defensive cover.
The gaffer
Predictions
I’m playing it safe and going for a draw, which would just about suit us I reckon.
The thing about the Championship is it’s not really about the league table, it’s about what sort of form the team you’re playing are in because the difference in quality is usually negligible.
At present, I don’t think there’s anything between these two sides on paper (they might even be better), so it’s more or less anyone’s guess.
And my guess is 1-1.
Up The Wolves!
* I’ve also managed to update the PL table (finally), so hopefully this is right as of the end of the Boro game. Check it out here.

I also think a one all draw is the most likely, but just to be different I’ll go 2-2 … since a returning Zyro – if playing to form – can get a goal or two, and we are quite simply shit at defending.
2-2
Current Championship form table shows Bristol Titty in 6th Place and Wolves 23rd………….
Whilst I am not too keen on stats the above, combined with our poor home form, this does not bode well for us.
However being the eternal optimist I am going for a massive Wolves win!
Zyro to replace Siggy (please!) and get a couple of goals.
🙂
I still see goals being our big problem, so can hardly predict us to bag a hat full.
Clean sheet, 3 goals and 3 points. Has a nice sound to it. For all our frustratingly bad play of late, l think tonight might just warm the cockles of our hearts.
God only knows. We don’t do so well at home but this is definitely winnable. Agree with starting Mason and possibly Zyro in somewhere if fit. Siggy to come off the bench and surprise us all with the winner.
As long as Mason starts I think we’ll be ok. So heart ruling head I’m going for a narrow win.
Hope you’re right about Siggy’s winner!
COMBs!
My fall in the prediction league has pretty much mirrored the team.
Golbourne to score and totally neutralise Byrne.
Pessimism reigns supreme
I thought that the Middlesbrough wasn’t that bad and was to be expected. We are not a playoff team.
Zyro returning and Mason to start and being a little more enterprising could achieve an all too rare home victory.
Can’t see a clean sheet happening.
Lovely dtatistics Thomas.
I’m going to piss on everyone’s chips now.
In the Autumn I travelled down to Ashton Gate in torrential rain, it was bouncing 2 foot off the ground, we parked the coaches about half a mile away so plenty of time to get really soaked.
The stats that night were Wolves had not lost at Ashton Gate for Yonks and Yonks,so I was optimistic to say the least.
We were hammered by the team at the bottom who to that point if I recall had not won in eons in this season, they played us off the park and we rolled over and well amd truly died, so Stats Shmats.
But, still the optimist I’m going for a 1-0 Wolves win.
Zyro to score and McDonald on fire.
Mason is reported to be a doubt, he too has an injured arse (Williamson), he’s got splinters in it from sitting on the bench so long.
It will get better,
It will get better,
It will get better.
Nurse! Nurse! I’m shitting my pants, help
1-0, COMB’s
I was at Ashton Gate too Stu.
Abject performance not helped by Kenny bringing on 3 subs all I think when we were 1 nil down:-
Grant Holt (who he played on the left wing and didn’t make use of his height – see ALF below)
ALF (all 5 foot 6″ of him) who he played up front and proceeded to lump balls in the air (their defenders must have thought it was Christmas!)
Doherty a full back for Byrne a winger when we were chasing the game!
Everyone around me on the night were going ballistic at Kenny’s so-called tactics.
For me that is when I realised how poor this squad of players are and how tactically poor Kenny and Joe Gallen are.
UTW!
I look back on that particular game and see it as the start of our demise..
Last time I thought a longstanding winless spell could end and it didn’t. There’s another opportunity tonight only this time it works against us. Couple that with an ex-Wanderers return and the current form stats and, unusually I am not optimistic.
I just could be wrong of course – let’s hope so.
Even KJ admits they need results and performances to help push the early bird or other ticket sales. I am, as ever, really looking forward to going to the Mol this evening, and as always hoping for a decent performance and the three points. What we will get is anybody`s guess but we have to try and win this game, another win would be very handy.
Having already renewed my season ticket the result can`t influence me personally, but its a long drive back to Chesterfield, and its far more bearable when we`ve won. Keeping my fingers crossed for a clean sheet and a Mason hatrick.
If after a 90min drive to the Mol tonight is followed by a dispiriting 90min of playing drivel (which is to be expected) then the 90 min return journey getting home at midnight will be the final nail in the dilemma of do I renew or not!!! Are you listening Mr Moxey?
For me Mason starts, or if injured then Zyro plays upfront.
Hoping in blind expectation we can win, can’t we………………..
Siggy has worked hard but not scored.
Zyro and Mason to start.
Derby game aside and Coady and Saville should be replaced by KMAC and Price in my opinion but I fear those days under KJ are long gone.
I still think we’re not safe yet so a win is vital or at least a draw.
Ikeme
Iorfa Batth Hause Doherty
Byrne KMAC Price Helan
Mason Zyro
Optimism has returned. Why??? No freaking idea, but I have to get out of my pessimistic mood about Wolves. Let’s go for a 3-1 win> I feel our only hope to score if Ikeme goes up for the corners:)
Zyro.. Zyro ..even Zyro and Mason… at least tonight we have players who can put the ball in..
It’s all down to KJ and how we attack this lot and presumably his tactics are to attack and go a couple up in the first half ..Optomistic?
Probably..knowing us (and KJ) but there really is no reason why we shouldn’t hammer Bristol City if we get a first goal early..
Unless we concede early of course but I rate House / Batth better than EEL / Batth to some extent but I’m expecting the usual miss Marked
fopaux’s …
Williamson mends slower than KJ
tactically thinks..he’s got to be fit soon surely?
So ..a miss matched side again.. DB struggling..Mason probably on the bench in the first half ..KMac having the whole team on his shoulders and us pensively wondering what’s going to happen..
There used to be certs as fixtures with Wolves once ..this season at least – it’s a lottery as to who’s even playing ..
Let’s hope the rumours are true re the club sale ..we all need a lift ..
I actually expect us to win this match easily ..It’s really not too much to ask……is it?
My concern is why have we got so many injuries?
Medical staff would appear to be the same standard as everyone else associated with “running” the club: piss fuckin’ poor.
Seems they have no clue as to warm ups, stretching, etc etc nor any idea how to quickly fix what gets broke during the games.
Still, they fit in well with the rest of the dross.
As for tonight, we need goals.
So heres a mind blowing novel idea.
Lets play a forward!!
We bought a bloke, for an absolute (Wolves anyway) fortune, and he sits on his arse, after scoring a couple on the odd occassions he got to run around a bit.
Not bleedin’ rocket science, Hamster, is it?
Get out of your wheel of fuckin’ fortune that you endlessly spin, and use what few brain cells you have logically.
All good or bad runs come to an end, just like ours was supposed to at Boro, So City will get stuffed tonight, as usual
And an especially big FOwb to y’all!!
Ps some fellow Americans reportedly in town again today
Not sure if I was supposed to keep that secret, but I’m twenty million miles away, so bollix!
You will all be begging me for American souvenirs before long!!
Am hoping that Morgan/Moxey/Jackett’s mouthpiece on the E&S is wrong in predicting that McDonald will be dropped tonight in favour of Price. WTF? Even a dimwit like KJ surely wouldn’t sacrifice his one and only creative midfielder to play another defensive holding midfielder would he? Oh bugger, yes he probably would!
If I was picking the team I would go with youth and it would be Ikeme; Doherty, Batth, Iorfa, Deslandes (yes with Doherty right back, Iorfa centre back and Hause on the bench); Coady, McDonald; Hunte, Enobakhare, Helan; Mason. On the bench – McCarey, Hause, Price, Saville, Byrne, Sigurdason, Zyro
Score tonight? Was going to go 1-1, then 1-0, then 2-0, then 3-1 and then back to 2-0 again so in other words who knows!
I was surprised about the story of the hamster being taken to the Barnsley game at the weekend. This is not news. Our directors’ box and dug out is full of donkeys for every game.
In the form stakes, City are way above us at the moment and I see another home defeat and miserable performance.
Hope Goldberg gets a good reception.
I noticed an animal welfare group has complained about the smuggled hamster.
Since we have donkeys not hamsters, I don’t think anyone will complain about them. If anything, no shortage of volunteers to help put them down.
Personally, I think Hamsters and Donkeys fit the bill in this Zoo of ours.
Anyone sitting in the Billy Quiet near the halfway line, please look up to the Zoo section tonight and report any surprise additions to the invited guest list. I sat in the box seats just below there for the U18’s games, the seats were Super soft. I hope the ones in the directors area tonight are Micro soft.
If they are, then Clives odds of 5/1 look a good bet to me.
🙂
Paul Allen Eh?
Seems he’s got a lot in common with a fair few on this blog.
An aging rocker and a fan of Joe Walsh.
The difference being, he’s recorded with the man!!!
http://wn.com/six_strings_from_hell
That’s pretty damn good in my book.
Bring in Planty on lead vocals and I’ll sit behind the drums if no body else wants the gig.
The one thing I worry about is that being a co founder of Microsoft he’s going to make me get rid of my iMacs.
He’s probably got his chaps back in Seattle working on a fix for that Doog.
Joe Walsh rather than Joe Gallen would get results
He’s gonna need macs in the bad weather, so I shouldnt worry, Doogle.
Got some duck porn in the mail
Thank you!
You’re welcome matey.
I got your latest today. They must have passed each other somewhere over the pond.
Our results this season have been impossible to predict, by me at least, so I’m gonna leave my failed method of actually thinking and just pluck a result out of thin air.
Zyro being back bodes well but I don’t expect to see him start, more a twenty minute runout as a second half sub. Mason to start, perhaps alongside Siggy in a 4-4-2. Who knows.
We could really do with the win, and not just for the three points either.
Again, who knows ? So I’m predicting what I hope for.
Ooops!
In my excitement about the elephant in the room (or on the pitch – sorry Siggy) that nobody is supposed to mention or know about I forgot my prediction.
Talking of which, if we’re all rabbiting on about it, why haven’t the E&S picked up on it. Don’t they read the blog?
A little bird has told me we are going to win tonight – but what does the PMDG’er know about football?
And one more thing.
I can’t get the image of Twixfix running round the Billy Wright statue sans culottes out of my mind.
Is there anything I can take for this?
If that image is causing you sleepless nights, then you are obviously worried for your safety at the bloggers ball. So slip some Ducolax into Twixdix’s Lemoncello and he will find out what his bottom is really designed for.
Under the photo please attach “Now fuck off Morgan”
I thought McDonald against Middlesboro was way and ahead our best player.
He seemed the only one who actually put in any effort.
So, he will be dropped before anonymous Savile and headless chicken Coady?
Weird.
As for Paul Allen buying the club, hope it’s true, but find the rumour extraordinary.
Where does it come from this gossip?
Golbourne to score…
The Robbings may be ahead of us in the form table but come on ! This is Bristol City we are talking about, not Barcelona. Its a club where we traditionally fill our boots goal-wise at their ground. They may have improved their squad, but seem simply to be benefiting from ‘new-manager syndrome’. If we play as we did against Derby and with the discipline we showed against Boro I can’t see anything but a home win. Probably got to go 4-4-2 (which I hate) tho’ if we’re going to somehow incorporate Mason.
Ok all of you lot … the thought of me waving my wand around the BWS is clearly keeping some of you awake at night. …just relax …coz I just can’t see anyone coming up with a formula to OUT MOXEY.
The one thing I will promise is that if he’s out by the time of the bloggers ball. …the Twix’s are on me.
As for tonight I’m going for a 1-0 having been divinely guided …..there’s only ONE (1) PAUL ALLEN and its NOUGHT (0) my fault MOXEY were in this shit….
Scapegoats or Donkeys whichever it is the Four Amigos are riding it looks bad really bad. Got to predict we can win this or lose the will to live. Adios Amigos (wheres Clint when you need him).
Doomed I’m afraid !!
Got a feeling it’s going to be one of those nights
Goldbourne will have a Field day and we will be lucky to win … But win we shall
Up the wolves !
Mason & Zyro (if fit) have to start as we need to get some goals in now. Why we buy a striker then leave him on the bench is beyond me, KMac again is a must. But hey what do I know? Our management team know what they’re doing right? Yeah who am I fooling!!!!
We can win this! Come on Wolves!!
Hopefully some changes to the team tonight.
Iorfa badly needs a rest switch Doherty to right back and give Deslandes a chance. Get rid of Siggy & Saville and play Maso & Zyro if fit.
More in hope than expectation going for a home win, but still somewhat apathetic until a takeover is concluded and the fat lady has taken several bows.
Another home defeat unfortunately ! And a sacking in the morning !!
Wolves 1 city 2
I called in at the National Football Museum while in Manchester yesterday, liked this quote from Brian Clough; ‘You can have the best tactics in the world but, if if your players can’t play, it won’t make any difference’. On the other hand, from Sir Alex Ferguson; ‘Hard work will always overcome natural talent when natural talent does not work hard enough’.
Which quote fits our present squad ?
I’d like to see both Mason and Siggy in the team tonight, with Zyro providing the service that has been missing.
Surely this is one we can win ?
I agree a win would just take us a little further away from relegation fears. I think injuries have pretty much summed up our season really. Still I think we’ll have enough in what’s left to get safely over the line. Mason should start and I think he will. 1 nil to wolves with mason the scorer.
Can’t be bothered anymore
But will still predict a win
I never know what to expect from this team at the moment. I predict Scott Golbourne will show us why he joined a loing list of players we never should have sold and will create a couple of chances for them
I’m going for 2-1 again. Well it worked against Derby!
Come on me babbie!
Hmm, Tuesday night, at home… I am going for blind faith in a bounce back win from an abysmal Friday night.
#UTW
I’ll be more than pleasantly surprised if we win. I think we will bounce back from Boro with a narrow win. Mason must start and hopefully Zyro will come on. Siggy is like a bouncey castle, kick a football at him and it bounces off. Unless Kenny thinks he can play him into form, I’m rapidly running out of patience.
Dunno about Paul Allen. If he didn’t want Villa why would he want us? He could have played hardball at Villa in 2014 and bought himself a PL club, ripe for investment. Why do it the hard way at his time of life by buying Wolves?
In the hope Kenny picks someone who can score maybe we can sneak a win
Who knows which Wolves team will turn up but this games got banana skin written all over it!
I still at a loss as to Jacketts logic re selling Gouldbourne I for one will give him a warm welcome, I can still see that goal at Brentford that Gouldbourne and Sako set up for Henery if that had been in The Premier League by say Arsenal they’d still be taking about it now.
I’d like to think we will win but with Jacketts chopping and changing of players and tactics formations I very much doubt it.
Forgot my score forecast.
Who knows what’s going to happen? Completely unpredictable so I’m going for a surprising win just for the hell of it.
Hopefully history will come to our aid.
Tonight’s team
WOLVES | Ikeme,Iorfa,Batth,Hause,Doherty,Coady,McDonald,Saville,Byrne,Mason,Helan
SUBS: Martinez, Rowe, Price, Zyro, Deslandes, Hunte, Enobakhare.
🙂
Le Fondre must have upset KJ as not played this year and now not even on the bench. Sigurdason not in the 18 either – good – and yet Saville keeps his place? Weird. Hope we get to see Zyro, Enobakhare and Hunte at some point.
From Twitter
Bjorn Sigurdarson misses out tonight with a knee injury and Adam Le Fondre as his partner is expecting.
I would like to see Hunte get a run out as well
What happened to Siggy?
Don’t know, that was all that was on twitter
A long overdue convincing win with Mason bagging a brace!
Hopefully we can carry on where we left off at home.
Hoping for a win but predict a draw.
It’s 1931 all over again.
my thoughts exactly
Wish I could be more scientific .. But I just rolled a couple of dice .. And came up with 2-1 in favour of Wolves .. As good a guess as any .. !!
Am in total shock! Firstly because my Live Score app gave the full time score as 1-1 (and in fact still does). Secondly because, and I can scarcely believe it, Jackett used all 3 subs!!!! Amazing. Works don’t it Kenny? Shame it’s taken you 36 games to work that out! By the way I hope McDonald was taken off at half time due to an injury as if you think Saville is better than McDonald you are even more Clueless than I thought.
P.S. Christophe Berra, 141 games for Wolves, 0 goals. So far 111 games for Ipswich, 12 goals. Wtf?
I just want to say, “what a fantastic well deserved performance from every single Wolves player, and we dominated play throughout”.
But.
My mother taught me never to lie, so I’m stuffed.
It was Dross,
Matt Doherty saved the team tonight, he was a one man band.
As the fella over in “Houston we have a problem” say’s, 3 points is 3 points.
To be fair Clive, you only have to sit through that once a year.
Onwards and Westwards we hope.
🙂
Siggy has damaged his foot, they reckon it’s caused by his knee, taking to much pressure compensating for his bad back over a long period.
ALF’s bird had a little girl tonight.
And all three are a result of a very weak spine and avoid between the ears.
A much needed 3 points from what was a generally rubbish performance. Only 4 points probably needed now to keep us safe. Let’s hope we can derail the blues on Sunday . Other than that the only thing to look forward to is moxey trying to positively spin the early bird numbers! Let’s hope not too many bottle the protest and renew before the deadline!
10 points from play offs ..if we win every game we all go to Wembly..
Just imagine that…..yeah..imagine..
It’s easy if you try….just one and……
No hell below us above us only Sky (feckin our games up.)
The financial details of Moxey’s £505K from the financial report.
http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2016/03/09/wolves-finances-revealed-revenue-down-despite-promotion-as-parachute-payments-drop/
Another snippet that may give us encouragement, Morgan is reported to be the buyer of the Old Royal Hospital site that he’s going to develop into luxury flats. Is he selling Wolves to finance that venture which will quadrupal his profit.. Take a s-prat to carch a Mackerel.
Oh the wicked weave they spin.
🙂
Don’t want to complain but if the preview is only posted at mid-morning on match-day it’s very difficult to enter a prediction due to actually travelling to the match. I had to go to an exhibition in ExCel yesterday morning and then drive up to Molineux in the afternoon. I was going to predict a 1-0 win. I missed making a prediction last Friday too, although I was going to predict a 1-0 win for that, but I was out of the country and the website was down when I was in the internet cafe trying to register it.
Totally appreciate this is a voluntary site and that the PL is just for fun but some of us travelling fans need a bit more time to get the predictions up. Thanks.
Feeling relieved about my forecast of a 2-1 win. Maybe I’m not in the Prediction League relegation zone now? I don’t think there are any parachute payments?!
On the Paul Allen takeover rumour, I asked a contact of mine who moved to Seattle a few years ago to work for Microsoft. I know it’s a long shot, but maybe rumours are surfacing there too? He also asked a soccer friend working for ESPN in Seattle. No news at all.
The rumours surprisingly enough are coming from a business associate of Morgans, they can keep a secret, what!
He feeds a bloke on the Wolvesrumours site and he’s pretty up to the mark so far.
Hopefully. Will have to wait and see. On the one hand you would expect an embargo on such information but on the other hand it’s not a takeover of a public company, with a share price going up and down on whispers. Mind you, if we keep the rumours going, and they’re not true, Paul Allen might issue a denial. That will at least put us out of our agony.
I see the QPR manager is talking about the playoffs. They’re only a point ahead of us with same number of games played… A few surprising defeats last night. This season ain’t over yet.
Trust me, we shall be celebrating soon. Nothing like healthy competition to heat up the race.
🙂
