It might sound like sour grapes, but I didn’t think 4-0 reflected the game down at Griffin Park.

Brentford picked us off beautifully in the final knockings, scoring three goals in the last fifteen minutes to give the scoreline one sided gloss.
But it was end to end stuff up until the second goal went in and Wolves were caught chasing the game.
None of that matters of course, but the point is I don’t think the gulf in class between the two sides is as significant as that scoreline suggested.
Brentford
That said, the league table proves that it wasn’t by any means a one-off performance from the Bees, who at the halfway stage continue to ride high in their inaugural Championship campaign.
Griffin Park has been a fortress, but their away form has been reasonable rather than spectacular, with five wins, five defeats and a draw from their eleven matches.
They score plenty but also let in their fair share. In fact, none of the top half have conceded as many as their 33 (including Wolves on 32).
Wolverhampton-born Andre Gray continues to make a mockery of the step up from Luton Town and is into double figures already. He scored a brilliant solo goal in last month’s game.
Wolves
The question for Kenny Jackett is how many of the team that performed so effectively at Vicarage Road can play again less than 48 hours later?

It could be a very similar team or there might be major surgery? Players that could conceivably come in are Henry, Graham, Evans, Clarke or the returning Matt Doherty.
Ideally, I’m sure the manager would like to start with the same team, but I suspect it will end up being a blend.
Like many others, I continue to be disappointed that Michael Jacobs can’t get anywhere near the team. Hopefully he’ll at least make the bench tomorrow.
Predictions
To win another game against a top six team and claw back valuable ground would be a major boost heading into 2015.
Wolves can definitely do it, but they’ll have to play better than they have at home for a good while.
Much will depend on who is and isn’t able to carry on from Boxing Day. If key personnel (Sako & Dicko) are able to play for a substantial portion of the game, I think we’ll win.
I think Brentford are vulnerable on their travels too, so I’ll back Wolves to narrowly edge it.
2-1
Up The Wolves

After watching the excellent demolition of Watford I have decided to accept the gentle admonishment of the Great St. Clive of Huston and never predict a defeat again, but I refuse to become a happy clapper.
Hope KJ manages to put the same team out fitness permitting.
We should win tomorrow and enjoy the sight of a Warburton loaf going very mouldy indeed.
COYW
10 points out of 4 games was my wish and we’ve got 7 out of 3 so far..
The Wolves Angel is with us so a win at home must be on..
We’ve can play better away sometimes so let’s put the record straight and win the rest of our home games…
We have momentum..Dicko’s on fire VLP is on form and Sako is due a man of the match award. K-Mac ..step up to the plate on this one and if our newly established back line plays well we should win.
Id love to see Stu’s ‘other’ U21 on the bench too..
Let’s take the game to them..
COYW
Itβs tough this blogging at Christmas. Preview after game after preview after game. What are you and Ben going to do when we are playing in Europe?
I’m getting this in before my mate the DOOGooder.
You’re totally right about how the selection mix will unfold Thomas .. and I’m hoping we put out our strongest team. (DICKO ESPECIALLY).
We can worry about subs after we’ve gone 2 – 0 up !!!
I’m praying for a good win over wanky Warburton tomorrow … so will be going for a solid … see below!!!
Clive .. are you coming in May for the celebrations?
Yes, Twixxy, I are coming in May for our second annual promotion celebration, although what happens in May 2016?
We celebrate forthcoming Champions League Football at The Golden Palace??
With regards to Brentford.
After getting spanked down there, even though my spies tell me the scoreline was flattering to them, the records will only show we got thumped, our boys should be well fired up for this.
I am a great non believer in all the bollocks about playing too many games in a short time.
These guys are young, fit and professional, and if they cannot recover in 48 hours, they have no business being there.
Back in the mid 19th century, when I was a lad, I played 3 or 4 times over a weekend, friendly league Saturday morning, Goodyears Sat. pm, and Sporting Star Sunday League, usually half hungover, on Sundays.
And oft times I would have a kick around with me mates at the park in the afternoons.
And, I went training 2 or 3 nights a week!
All this whilst trying to work at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co during the week!
OK, I was never professional or anything near, but the point is there.
Anyrode, Brentford are gonna be cock a hoop, and full of over confidence, and will get the spanking of the season.
And what is their crest all about?
Three scimitars and two bees?
Perhaps Hamsterlet can enlighten us, he’s a Shakespeare expert.
Two bees, or not two bees?
Avid fans of mine will remember that I was going to watch Man City’s training session against the shit, and oh what fun it was!!
Lescott especially had a howler, and thank dog we didn’t go for him in the summer.
Happy Days are here agin!!
FOwb
Nice one Clive … I’ll put it in my diahorria ….
Sorry diary … feckin predictive txt … any betting that the next PL manager to get the chop will be Alan Irvine …. shame …
Well my little lad is 11 tomorrow so I shall hope for a repeat of the day he was born when we beat Leeds 3-1 hence my prediction.
Plus let’s face it we owe Brentford one!
Come on you Wolves!!!
They won when I predicted they would lose, so I will keep doing that , even though I believe we will win 2-0
Come on me babbies prove me wrong again.
Our home form is patchy to say the least so I’ll take cautious route……hope I’m wrong again.
Incidentally,a ‘Warburton’ was a term of abuse used by the assistant pro at our golf club……it was based on mispronouncing or mishearing ‘Thick Cut’!
He was a good lad and a Chesterfield supporter……now you don’t meet many of those.
We owe them one and they have just had a good thumping so all in all should go our way
Gut feel is a tight win for this one. Don’t mind a bit of tinkering given the closeness to the last game, but must keep Dicko, Sako and Price in the team.
Come on me babbies!
A great result yesterday. Now let’s have another one at home in front of the masses.
Now then ,now then, what’s all this then, if a bloke from Houston can play 4 (Soccer) games in a weekend and train three times a week, then Wolves fit youngbloods can recover enough to thump the “Thick Cuts” from Warburton land.
One thing every blogger has omitted to add is, Brentford also played yesterday, oh yes and they got spanked…..Bummer.
This would cap my year and what a year it’s been when we beat Brentwoodfordtonshire.
So 3-0 for me me babbies
…… can play ……? Do you not mean ……… could play? Having said that, I’ll bet he was a canny player in his youth!!! If he can remember that far back!!!
Am really looking forward to the May gathering. I’m in. Let’s see if we can get loads more bloggers attending. Come on guys, put the date in your diaries!!
Stu,
Can’t make the match today, too much pain and not enough sleep, I’m sorry to say. Anyhow, I will give you a call so that we can meet up at the Blackpool game. I hope I will be OK by then, but I said that about today’s game,
Jerry
Jerry.
No problem mate, We do what we can in life, hope your feeling better later on, and I hope Wolves put a bit of cheer into your life this afternoon.
Take care mateyboy.
π π
Fantastic result yesterday. But two in two days would be pushing it when we know our squad depth is lacking.
As good as we were at Watford, we’ve struggled at home of late, one win in seven I think it is. Also, it’s a big ask to play so well again two days later.
Agreed, Rich – best away performance for a year at Vicarage Road, as we played for the full 90 mins, but I fear it will have left the lads tired with pretty weak replacements to ease the burden.
COYW!
Mr(not very gracious in defeat) Warburton doesn’t seem to have too many admirers on here. Please, let’s add to his misery.
I’ve put money on this, and am desperate for a win, since I am down in my betting stakes. I reckoned Irvine was due to be first man shot, not Warnock……(how many suggested him before KJ coming?)
I’d be happy with a point, as I would have done against Watford. However, I think we might just shade it.
And as regards certain a Wulfrunian export playing 4 times in a weekend, albeit slightly hungover at times, he obviously didn’t have Tony Daley as fitness coach…….
Those two full backs Iorfa and Hause played so well at Vicarage Road, like two old pros. Dicko was getting tired toward the end so we’ll have to see – don’t want to aggravate his hamstring again do we. Maybe that suggestion of Keita somebody made is due a chance ?
Revenge is demanded over swanky Warburton – I’m hoping my 3-0 will come up at last.
My Christmas wish is only half fulfilled. We’re far too good to lose again to Brentford. Disappointed the media say Watford were poor, they climbed into our proverbial pocket 5 mins into last nights game and stayed there until the additional minutes board went up at the end.
Finsbury,
Were those papers by any chance from Dawnnn souff?
Even the Watford manager sang our praises, Watford got back into the game in last 10 minutes because we had run ourselves into the ground and were a tad slow closing down due to fatigue.
π
Hope I am wrong. If we can win this one then we will be right in the mix.
Play as we did yesterday, we are in with a shout against most teams in this division
UTW
Another victory…onwards and upwards!
I think they’ll be too strong for us
I’ve been looking into my crystal ball.
Tomorrow is a golden day.
Warburton goes for a burton.
Brentford are shown up for the pretenders they undoubtedly are.
Wolves show that they are genuine promotion contenders.
Kenny Jackett wears his new top.
Morgan prepares to open his wallet.
Moxey eats his 100th pie of the holidays.
His trousers split.
Revenge; – a dish best eaten cold, and it’ll be pretty chilly out there tomorrow.
I actually think this one will be a draw but back to back wins would be great so that’s what I’ll predict.
Just been reported on Wolvesnewsmow, Wolves are making a loan move for the Brighton winger Elliot Bennett, he’s a Norwich City player on loan at Brighton until January.
Didn’t he start his career at Wolves?
Apparently so., full circle eh what!
Is this for real – a guy not good enough to get in the Norwich squad is top of our wish list for Jan?? Our lack of ambition is staggering.
Al I have to say is, Sagbo, Danny Graham, I wouldn’t play Sagbo in the Sunday league team and very unconvinced on Graham.
I would bet a pound to a penny we go back in for the Northampton Kid.
Story broke on Wolves news now, so to be honest only Kenny Knows.
My glass is always full, we live in hope.
π
Why not?
We’ve got to beat ’em on aggregate, ain’t we?
Before i make my prediction as usual must reiterate i am not doing the PL. Enjoyed Boxing day immensley on my mates smallish cinema screen.
– Showed pace strength, grit and determination. This is i think where KJ is comfortable as a manager. As a formula it may mean we win some maybe lose some. Lot of players impressed but considering the ride he has had would mention Stears (time to let him have the loaded gun methinks).
I have always rated Stearman, and he’s done nowt this season to change that pinion.
Mother in law coming into town tomorrow, then off to a family wedding in Fredericksburg, a hotbed of German settlers.
Could be fun, must get the bastids back for bombing our chip shop!!
Three points for us and three points for Stoke tomorrow will be then perfect end to a wonderful year!!
FOwb
the perfect end….fuckin smell check!!
Not quite sure about this one as he may tinker with the team but in the hope that there are minimal changes I’ll go for a win.
Having predicted a loss at Vicarage Road I feel ashamed of myself. So a win tomorrow for me.
More of the same please.
I think we’ll still struggle in front of net but hoping RVLP can get on the scores sheet
F W A W ……there’s no point in asking you’ll get no reply.
I’m gonna predict a narrow victory
After shipping 4 to the Suffolk shufflers I expect the bees knees to have weakened somewhat whilst our wonder wings will be fit enough for another flight!
Wolves to remove the sting! Warburton is toast
Sense some payback here so let’s sting them Bees.
Hope Dicko is able to backup.
Home form is becoming a concern and I don’t foresee another clean sheet.
About time we scored more than once in a game!
Go Wolves!
Another win…..
An optimistic one from me
Looked great against Watford. See no reason why we can’t push on
Just when hopes get raised again…
Wolves on the up.
Well I’ve proven I know nothing about football and that a blindfolded rat with darts and a dart board would be a better prediction engine. I’ll go for a draw and hope for a win. It’s not been a year since we beat them 3-0 I guess!
Great performance at Watford. Let’s keep the snow ball rolling!
still well short of play off form.. but this must be a chance for 3 points at home
predicting a draw – and as no one mentioned 0-0 I’ll go for that. Hoping for a win though.
It will be a tough game but i think if Dicko plays the majority of the game, we will edge it 1-0… He looks by far our most effective player even after 2 months out
Stalemate for me, hope I’m wrong.
I’d go with same eleven, tell them to give it their all for the first 45 and anyone who is knackered can be swapped early in the second half. Brentford will be in the same situation as us. We’ve done well last two away games, it’s now time to see if KJ can get us winning at home where the emphasis is more on us than counter attacking.
My Dad (Leicester die hard) is taking my nephew to his first visit to Molineux, I reminded him of how dressing me in a Leicester kit at the age of three made no impression compared to my first Molineux visit at about 5. My Nephew is 11 and been to plenty of games at the Walkers but this could a turning point!
I don’t think the short turnaround time will make much difference ’cause it’s the same for them too. We were firing on all cylinders at Watford but have found home games a tougher proposition this term so this is a hard one to call. Graham off the bench to score a late winner….fingers crossed.
I’d like to think that we can take the Watford momentum forward, but consistency has been lacking this season and it’s little time since they headed back northwards in the snow. Brentford will also be keen to come back from the agricultural drubbing. Feels like a draw to me, but then Vicarage Rd felt like a defeat coming up! Wtf do I know? Other than that they all did us proud on Boxing Day.
Let’s play like we did at Watford. Hopefully the boys will be ready and firing for the last game of the year.
Don’t know why we went missing against Brentford last time we played but it’s time for revenge.
Would like to think the boys want to return the flavour too.
That should be favour but a good flavour is always good
Ever the Christmas optimist…UTW!!!!
I still we look like we have the potential for a few defensive errors, but Dicko looked such a livewire against Watford that if he’s the same today he’ll be too hot to handle.
I’m just back from the Mol after picking tickets up for others for todays game, the place was really busy with folk buying for today. Forget the form of late it’s the crowd that will carry Wolves. There is a lot of venom waiting for Brentwoodfordtonshire after them stuffing 4 past us last time out. As above I agree play same team until legs get heavy and get our just rewards.
Onwards & Up em
π
Hopefully we have turned the corner after that awful period of losing five on the bounce.
With Dicko back and scaring the shite out of defenders we can get back into the playoffs
and make a real fist of it with one or two additions come January.
Lets hope for a bumper crowd to roar wolves on.UTW..
A good game on the cards here but we’ll share the spoils
Brentford were the only side to let me down on my 10 game Boxing Day accumulator, getting spanked by Mick’s tractor boys.
Possibly finally shown up as the Charlatan’s they are.
Revenge is in the air, and a similar thumping to the one we handed out to them last season awaits.
Hoping for more trickery from Dicko and Van La Man, and a clean sheet to boot.
Predicting a romp by wolves today. Dicko and sako looking fantastic on Boxing Day and I expect them to be amongst the goals
Onwards and upwards !
Squeaky bum last twenty minutes, but we are wolves so why not a 2-1 win. We looked good against Watford, with my wish for three midfield players we could keep the ball and play to our passing style. Van Parra to create havoc again, and a brace from Dicko. Happy days.
Another victory
Expecting pay back time today.
. . . .cpuld be 3 or 4. Settle for 2-0
Just setting off & looking forward to the match. The form book would indicate that there’s going to be a few goals today, let’s hope we carry on being reasonably tight at the back – the youngsters have been amazing – and I’m hoping vlp, Dicko & maybe Sako are going to get their just deserts. Come to think of it Sako is definitely due a goal or two. Come on me babbies!
Come on me babbies
Time for some revenge….but it might be a close run thing.
Onwards and upwards? Let’s see if we can build steadily on our strengths.
Great performance against the Queen Bees or was it Hornets and now I expect the same against the real Bees, which sadly is a poor omen as I am shiiite at this prediction lark.
Unchanged team I hope, Dicko to add to his tally.
Wharburton’s boys are toast. Sorry, that’s a crummy and cheesy joke, a bit stale. I just like to take the rise out of him. Roll on 3 points and we’ll all wait for Morgan to get his dough out, though knowing him, it might turn sour.
Ciabatta everyone.
Would be happy enough with a draw from this one, struggle to see us keeping a clean sheet after the game at Griffin Park a few weeks ago.
That Watford perforance and result was straight out of the form book from our strong start to the season, the difference that Dicko seems to have on the whole dynamic of the side when he plays really is startling. So whether he is involved or not will have a huge bearing on our chances IMO.
A good result today will cap of what has been mostly an excellent year for the club. Well done to all involved!
come on the wolves, hope we can climb back up there and start challenging again.
Crucial game this one.
It’s Xmas time to start winning at home
Looking forward to being proven wrong
No wiziwig, but linked in to the blog and kept telling the whingers to shut the feck up as we would win. And we won. And I got no points on the PL. And I hoped that would be the case. And I am going to predict a loss in our next game too as it seems to work. And I don’t care Clive.
And I think I will go now and get shitfaced!!!
What a New Years Pressie……….
Dicko has not been selected for the Mickey Mouse cup in Africa.
Onwards & Upwards.
π π π
Got your msg mate but am having problems with my phone – can’t send msgs at the moment!!
Brilliant news about Nouha . I am down for the Blackpool game on the 17th Jan and can’t wait.
See you then no doubt. Hope you had a great Chrimbo. Regards to the missus.
