After the previous meeting between these two sides ended in a draw back in December, I was convinced Wolves would finish outside the bottom three.
We played appallingly for much of the game at the Reebok, yet by the end we probably should have won after drawing level and dominating the closing stages.
Bolton looked very much like a team on their knees. Blackburn were also toiling and Wigan’s destiny seemed all but a foregone conclusion.
How wrong could I have been?
All of those sides now look distinctly better equipped to survive than our lot as we head into the business end of the season.
Still, for all the problems of late, both on and off the field, winning this vital fixture would immediately change the complexion of things.
And Wolves must win.

Anything but 3 points is a disaster for TC and the boys, given the remaining fixtures they’re faced with, especially at Molineux. After Bolton depart tomorrow, we can look forward to welcoming Arsenal, Man City and Everton – none of whom look ripe for the picking.
Despite winning 4 away games this season, Bolton have lost the other 10. Only QPR have been beaten as many times on their travels.
Owen Coyle’s side do however come into this match after back-to-back Premier League wins against QPR and Blackburn. They’ll fancy making it a hat-trick too against a Wolves side who’ve lost more home games than any other side in the league (10).
The Team
I think when you’re on such an appalling run, it becomes difficult to know what options to try next. TC must surely be scratching his head wondering what combination to field in what must be his last realistic chance to salvage the season. Assuming fitness of certain players, this would be my XI:
If Henry is fit, he must play. We’ve missed him, particularly in the Blackburn and Norwich games where there was the realistic possibility of getting a result had we been able to plug the holes in midfield.
I’d also bring Milijas back into the center of midfield in the hope that he can give our starved forwards something else to feed on. I don’t think the Serbian is the type of player who can make an impact from the bench. He either needs to play from the start or not at all for me.
Prediction League
3 people got the scoreline spot-on against Norwich last weekend. Well done to Ade in China, Rich and Haywood Wolf who all pick up 3 points.

I wish I could be positive heading into this game, but I’ve seen nothing of late to suggest we have enough belief to beat anybody.
I think it will probably be a draw, which is no good to Wolves at this stage of the season.

To clarify, I would be playing two holding midfielders and Milijas in support of Fletcher. I know we shouldn’t be having to play effectively 5 in midfield but without 5 we get overrun by the most mediorce of midfields.
I was torn between Zubar and Foley at right back and my selection in that respect was probably an “eenie meenie minie mo” decison rather than due to any great reason which set Foley apart from Zubar.
I don’t think we should be dropping Stearman, I agree with TC that he has been our best defender in the past few games…although I also appreciate that it is a pretty damning statement in itself.
I think by playing Davis and Henry, Henry can sit and protect while Davis is given slightly more freedom to link up with my front “one and a half” of Milijas and Fletcher. From what I have seen of his brief performances, he does this well and has a really good range of passing whilst he also puts a good foot in when necessary along with a work rate which is second to none.
In terms of Kightly, I am just an advocate of playing players in their correct positions. I never liked it when we were playing Hunt on the left and Jarvis on the right. I like to play the best players for that position and Edwards has never looked like a winger.
I did have Doyle in my original line-up…however I then realised that gave me 12 players…unfortunately this season, it’s felt like that’s the number we need to win!!
But, Thomas, just like your selection this is just my opinion and I see a lot of merit in your selection (not least playing 4-4-2). But what team TC will put out is anyone’s guess!!
I am approaching my post this week with utmost optimism in light of what is fast becoming a dour and forgettable (or unforgettable depending on your view) season. I have been much maligned on this site recently for my forthright views on certain sections of the Molineux crowd, and rather than be on the receiving end of a verbal torrent of abuse from said cretins, I will refrain from commenting any further, except to say that I hope everyone gives the team one hundred percent backing tomorrow. Hopefully, this will spur on the team to bring home three valuable, crucial and vital points towards the cause of avoiding relegation.
I believe Connor must take the risk of bringing back our enforcer Karl Henry tomorrow, the central midfield will be stronger with him and you know that he bleeds gold and black.
I will be at the game tomorrow, again a clean sheet is virtually unfathomable but I will say in the battle of the wanderers: Wolves 3 Bolton 1

You’re never gonna stop football fans moaning at their club. Ours aren’t that bad in comparison to some (Blackburn probs best example this season) and while this negativity does sometimes transmit from the stands to the pitch, it is not the biggest factor in our demise this season by a long way, and is in fact more a symptom of said demise than a cause of it.
Voicing frustration does not make one a cretin, an a****n fan or anything other than passionate and disappointed. If you can find a club where 100% of the fans are 100% behind every stupid decision or poor bit of play then fair play to you, cos if it exists I’ve never heard of it.
Surely it doesn’t take a genius to work out that if you come on a fan’s forum and start slating the fans you’re gonna cop some flak. If you’re a big enough man to come on here and give it out then at least stand up and take the retribution instead of whinging about it and calling us all cretins.
I’m really not sure what team TC will go with. I like the look of Tettenhall Wolfs team…but with injuries, politics and TCs unnerving sway towards the McCarthy school of random tactical selection…I haven’t a clue…and in all honestly at the moment I’m not sure it would really make that much of a difference! Though I will say both Kightly and Jarvis were excellent, Fletch shoulda had and almost got several goals. SEB was horrible as always, but I guess that’s what we pay him for.

A very bitter pill to swallow to see MD go over like that, Johnson should never be diving in like that in the first place, terrible defending. Once again, shambolic defending by Johnson for the 3rd goal. KD went round him at a snails pace and should not be allowed to turn and shoot in that position.
Unfortunately, Edwards played the world and his brother onside for the 2nd goal at the near post.
This was classic Wolves not capatalising on spells of domination and basic defending errors. We should have been about 3-0 up at halftime and come away with nothing yet again.
On a slight plus, it was nice to see (most of) the players with some pride and determination in their game even if it did count for nothing in the end!
