First things first, I hate Bolton.

Well actually, eleven year old me, locked in the grubby, lion cage away end at Burnden Park in the summer of 1995, hates Bolton.
The misery. The injustice. John Mcginley. Ergh.
20 years on, I haven’t been able to forgive and forget.
It doesn’t help that the Trotters have since bested Wolves on countless other occasions, albeit none quite as painful as that play-off semi final second leg.
Bolton
I always rated Dougie Freedman as a player. He scored some of my all time favourite Wolves goals. As a manager though, the jury is still out.
Leaving high flying Palace to take the reigns at Bolton seemed a bit of an odd decision at the time. I wonder whether he will one day admit to an error of judgment on that one?
It’s been a tough couple of years at the Reebok and despite sporadic bursts of form they haven’t been anything other than Championship also-rans (at best) since relegation from the top flight.
This season hasn’t started much better either with Wanderers only notching their first win of the campaign against Rotherham in midweek.
Still they have some useful individuals (Davies, Spearing, Mason, etc) which suggests if they can put it together as a team on a consistent basis, they will begin climbing the table.
Wolves
Kenny chopped and changed throughout at Charlton and can feel reasonably pleased with all incarnations of the team.

Personally I’d stick with the tried and tested starting XI but must admit I was impressed with what I saw second half at The Valley when the shape was switched to 442.
Leon Clarke rightly took pelters for the chances he missed but we looked a lot more threatening with two bodies in the opposition penalty area. As I say, I’d start with the above but it’s nice to see that plan B can also be effective when needed.
The Gaffer
Predictions
A lot of people correctly foresaw the draw at Charlton and most even got the scoreline, so I won’t list them all on this occasion. But well done to everyone. The overall table is shaping up nicely.
Until the team give me reason to think they’ll struggle I can’t predict anything other than wins.
Molineux is a nasty place to visit these days as Norwich, Cardiff and Blackburn have all discovered.
I think Bolton will keep the ball better than those sides but ultimately Wolves will prevail as they normally do at home.
3-1
Up The Wolves

Two Sako bullets, a Craig Davies scuff to pull one back before Sam Ricketts emerges from the bench to curl in a 25 yard beauty against his former club.
Going to continue our great form at the Molineux on Saturday. I’d definitely take 2 draws and a win from our last 3
Come on me babbies
I too have an uneasy association with Bolton, but I don’t feel the same animosity as I did when Big Sam was grinding out hard fought wins on a seemingly inevitable basis. Though I don’t get to any games any more from what I read and hear this Wolves team has a fantastic never say die attitude, almost unheard of in recent years. As they are a bogie team I think Bolton will cause problems but I can only see a win and three more valuable points for the golden Wanderers.
If wolves play anywhere near their best they’ll put another 3 points on the board. Dicko and my favourite player Kevin macdonald to score
Apologies Thomas for spotting that you’ve pictured Price and presumably intended Evans.
For this game I’d be inclined to start with plan B .. having Dicko and Clarke in the starting XI … not everyone choice but unless we give Clarke more pitch time his nerves will become more taught than the cable on Kawarau Bridge Bungee Jump.
If it’s not working at half time Plan A here we come.
Prediction wise I’m going for a spectacular win since Bolton haven’t got a point on their travels yet and long may it continue tomorrow. Wolves aye we …..
Bolton may be a bogey team to the Wolves of old, We are Kenny’s New Wolves and stats and superstition means nought at Molinuex or on the road nowadays. I too enjoyed Dougie Freedmans goals but it was his words against us that lowered him in my esteem, when Wolves tried to secure a player from Bolton on loan last year, his comments were, “no, he wanted him to go to a “Good Team””
As you say Thomas, things like this linger long in the heart. That aside I am voting with my head not my heart and sticking with my feelings that this season we have no-one in this league to worry about. After watching Eusebio’s goal and Jackett’s response I seriously expect to see him start instead of Leon.
Sako header ????
Dicko nicks a pass and goes on a run and slots a pearler home.
Dangerous Dave to grab a screamer at close range.
🙂
We’re consistent, we’re thrifty in defence, and we have reason to believe that our home support can power us to the 3 points against Bolton!
COTW!
Nothing but a home win to be considered. Don’t care who scores as long as the goals start coming.
We’ll be consistent, and our profligacy in front of goal will continue. Where oh where is the new striker we so desperately need to fire us to back to back promotions
Eusebio Bancasi is his name, a star waiting in the wings.
Question………
To all our Wolverhampton Wurriers!
Anyone recall the last time we got beat,
(no, not the Rotherham game, we scored that one ourselves, so it’s not counting)
🙂
Apart from Rotherham, and apart from Northampton, as it was a cup game and therefore does not count too, it was on Tue 18 Mar v Crawley and then before that it was on Sat 4 Jan v Gillingham. Only 5 losses last season.
Only 1 loss (cos it does really count) so far this season.
We am Wolves Aye We!! See you tomorrow mate.
I am going with your score Thomas and I agree that it would be good to see Sam Ricketts given some game time. He didn’t really do anything wrong to get dropped and he is very capable of scoring a cracker.
I would also start with Henry as I feel he poses more of a goal threat than Van the Man.
Otherwise, business as usual.
Dicko, Sako and Henry to score for Wolves.
Bolton get debatable penalty late on but all to no avail.
COYW!
Good job I don’t have any money riding on my tipping. It’s woeful. Never mind. Confident of a wolves win this weekend.
I hate Bolton too. Even ouir magnificent side of the 50s used to struggle to beat them. They were a bit of a bogey team back then and seem to have remained the same ever since. All that to change tomorrow.
We dominated Charlton in the second half on Tuesday and if we play anywhere as well against Bolton then I can see anything but a Wolves win (unless we are cursed with the worst of luck). If Kenny goes with a lone frontman, surely it has to be Nouha though. While I don’t want to knock Leon, the pace and threat of our all-round game took off as soon as Dicko came on at The Valley and he was clearly the main difference.
I feel Wolves will be unbeatable at the Mol. A 2-0 scoreline will be enough for our guys to then hold the ship steady. Sako and Dicko to score.
Close one, they’ll scrap for everything (as was proved in that Play-off semi, the dirty little…..)
After years of trying to maintain an air of positivity despite being served up bile on a weekly basis, I’m loving being a Wolves fan again. Since King Kenny’s arrival, its the best its ever been for me. Tactics, teamwork and passion from every player who pulls on the shirt, love them all.
Keep it going lads.
I agree. Still in France on hols, but there in spirit!
We all hate Bolton, don’t we?
COYW!!
A should win by 2 goals in theory..
Saville first half ..(he’s latent) Sako..
Would love to see Eusabio..I’m sure he’s coming …
I just can’t bear the thought of poor Leon Clarke ..I feel sorry for him..he just adds weight to a set piece – all be it he might face the wrong way…
Sorry mate…can’t help myself..
So we must keep going and as I’m not at Mol we’ll prob score six..
Confidence is high…bogey side or not.
COYW
Admant says:
If we start with Clarke expect Bolton to score first – through Max Clayton…
Nouha to come save us again …
PS – how do you join the prediction league
PPS – how does it work, the points system i mean
Top of page, next to “Home”:
“If you’d like to join in the fun, simply leave your prediction as a comment in the official preview to the match, which will usually be posted the day before the game itself. You get 3 points for guessing the correct score and 2 points for predicting the correct outcome.”
Cheers!
Ahhhh Cheers Vladimir !
I believe you just have mate, by putting in your prediction. I understand the table gets populated/updated automatically. So, after the match you should see your names on the board with the points (if any) you scored. 3 points for a correct score, 2 points for a correct result, feck all for anything less. But the person to tell you exactly how it works is Thomas.
Really chuffed to see so many “new faces” on here.
I am driving down tomorrow and am looking forward to the game. I just hope that Max Clayton does not get a game, and if he does, that he does not score – that would be cruel!!
Can’t see us getting beat here, and as I said in a previous thread, Clive may get his first 3 point prediction right, so ………….. I’m going to join him.
A convincing win, I think we will play them off the park but should have scored more. COYW
Thomas – nearly gulped on my beer after realizing that “Wanderers” meant Bolton, yikes!
Never liked them for a second, always seemed utterly bland, non-exciting team, to me.
No time for superstitions, bogey teams or the like – Wolves win (Sako, Dicko)
Boggie team? Shmoggie team!
I’d still give Clarke a chance, say 45 minutes. He can’t score without more game time. I reckon we’ll be comfortable winners at 2-1. I’d be inclined to give Eusebio a 10-minute spot if we’re at least two goals ahead at 80 minutes. If it’s 2-1 at 80 minutes then we have to be more cautious.
Little concerned about this one as I don’t recall us getting the better of Bolton on many (or any) occasions recently. Think it will be a tight one that we’ll squeeze through to return us to winning ways. I agree that as excellent as we played in the 2nd half against Charlton when we had 2 up top we should start with the tried and tested 4-5-1 system that’s got us so far with Dicko up top to bag a second half winner.
Do the plan B and give Leon a half. If he still doesnt score then off he goes half time.
I think Bolton will score a cracker Ikeme won’t see coming but we will fight and win late game
A comfortable victory, whoever’s up front.
Shame I missed Charlton, looked like a great performance with
a small reward in the end, Dicko to score twice for us.
The attempts are coming from everywhere, surely the goals will
too, just like last season?
Back to winning ways on Saturday,.
Should beat them, fingers crossed
Notlob at home. Mmmm…I like Dougie Freedman and thought he was a very decent player for Wolves, now he is brining Notlob to the Mol and try and take points off our wonderful Wolves.
I saw enough of Saville against Charlton to see that KJ has, once again, found another jewel for us.
Leon Clarke – he was missing in action during the first half but once Dicko came on he came to life. Yes he missed chances but then so have the rest of the team, though I would agree him being a striker makes it different. I saw enough of him to give him a start tomorrow alongside Dicko so 4-4-2 instead of the usual 4-5-1/3-4-3. Once he bags a goal I think he will find his shooting boots.
Notlob have a decent team that has, so far, failed to find consistency so we need to be on our game tomorrow.
I expect nothing less than a win but a close one with a Dave Edwards winner around the 85th minute 🙂
Onwards and Upwards
Notlob are one of the few teams I have a real dislike for and nothing would give me greater pleasure than playing them off the park tomorrow. It would also be a bonus if McDonald or Evans or Saville gives Mark Davies a masterclass in how to be a top midfield player…assuming Davies is fit!
I did really like Freedman when he played for us and was quite disappointed when he left after only one season. Am I remembering rightly but did we swap Jamie Smith for both Freedman and Muscat? If so what a great bit of business that was.
How come Notlob have signed Clayton for as little as £300k max when we couldn’t agree a figure and the E&S was saying Crewe wanted £1m??
UTW
And then we don’t need any loan signings (Goalgetters)
Like many others I see Bolton as a bogey team, but it is time to slay deamons like that.
We can’t keep missing chances can we?
That play-off fiasco will hurt forever. They stole our place in the top flight. They denied Bully and Hayward their chance at restoring The Wolves to their previous status at the top of the English game.
It was a crucial set-back. If we’d broken in during the mid 90s, and stayed there ever since, our club would be unrecognisable.
They got to watch Jay Jay Okacha, we got Darren Ferguson. And worst of all? They wasted the chance. They’re back down in the 2nd tier doing nothing very much at all. Wankers.
I will never, ever forgive notlob for what they did to us, and I hope we slaughter them tomorrow.
UTW.
Couldn’t agree more Sleachy. Of course we would have still had to have beaten whoever it was that got to the final that year but imagine how different it would have been to get promoted 8 years earlier than we did.
No Mark McGhee for one thing…
Or Glenn Hoddle for that matter!
They can’t score without conceding. We don’t concede. Easy.
Should get three points here . Often the bogey team though. We are a different side at home than we were for a bad couple of years. Clayton is a certainty to score. Dicko first with a late winner from Clarke . Wishful thinking …..
A return to winning ways I hope.
UTW
Can’t see anything other than a convincing home win akin to the last home game when coincidentally another team from the North West beginning with ‘B’ came to fortress molineux.
Got mine and my lads tickets again, so the stars are aligned for a repeat outcome.
A Sako Special, some in-box Dicko trickery, and an elegantly placed Van La Parra curler.
Come on Me Babbies!!!
US Wolf,
Brompton and I are meeting up at the Park Inn on West Park for a snifter tomorrow. I have my 2 Grandsons with me so if you and your boys fancy a Vimto or a Fruit Shoot we can get together about 12-1pm ish,
Obviously any other bloggers in the vicinity at said time are more than welcome to gather for an identity parade and some liquid Gold.
Clive from Houston won’t be there, he’s stuck in Florida poor lad. He never gets a break the unfortunate beggar.
🙂

Stu Wolf,
Thanks for the invite, but I only just picked it up and it is 1:15 on Saturday and we haven’t set out to the Mol yet.
Would have loved to have had a Vimto with you and the Grandkids with my young Wolves.
Maybe next time, and I will keep a closer eye on the Blog for such things.
Thanks again!
Enjoy the game.
Cheers Mate.
Come on Me Babbies!!!
Back to winning ways please
Bolton.
The name itself is like an add on, a spare part, an afterthought.
That is exactly what it is. A spare part of Lancashire, or wherever it is.
The only good thing ever to come out of there is the road to Wolverhampton.
And that is the road their tens of supporters will knuckle drag their way to certain defeat.
They are up there in my top 5 of all time despised teams, alongside leeds and the shit.
El Maestro is fast evolving as the one of the most astute Wolves managers ever, and Bolton will be brushed aside with the ease of swatting flies, as we inexorably march to the title.
No worries, boys and girls, a relaxing day at the office tomorrow for everyone.
You will also be pleased to know that I and Mrs CFH are off to Anna Maria Island tomorrow, which is on the Florida Gulf Coast, for 7 days of R & R.
A merry Fowb to y’all
And we all hope that yer next Shxt’s a Hedgehog.
Just to make your cheshire grim wider…..
It’s raining here
🙂
If its any constellation, we’ve had flooding here, and more to come today.
But your not going to be there, more gloating methinks.
Enjoy your week from home life and a hug for the bride from me and the missus.
🙂
Stu,
Sorry I missed you mate. Horrendous traffic. Got to the Parkview at 1.20. You had left by then. Went back for a coffee and then back home. Two road blocks later and I just got home lol. Cracking game. Maybe see you next time I am down.
UTW/FOWB
That’s okay mate. Me, Stu and maybe a few others, are having a swift pint or too in “The Beer Garden”. I would have bought you one, but you aint gonna be there!! I have gone 5-1 too as I am sure you are due 3 points.
Enjoy your break my friend – no doubt it’s well earned.
UTW/FOWB
two not too – THOMAS!!!!! where’s that feking edit button?
James Henry would be very unlucky to be dropped – MOTM on Tuesday night
It will be the first time I’ve made it down the Molineux this season, so hoping the team can put on a performance.
I also hate Bolton and hope we are the ones so gong there’s only one Wanderers at the end of the game!
Singing! Bloody phone.
This is the springboard for the rest of the year.
Come on you wolves!!
Should be a good game and 3 enjoyable points. Now it is time for everyone to produce. My guess is 3 goals from different players.
I hope Leon scores for a bit of confidence but it is more hope than expectation as I just don’t think he is quite good enough to be a regular goal scorer at this level.
Could be a potential banana skin but i remain optimistic – Famous Ones 3 T’Other Ones 1 or Wolves Fangs 3 Pigs Trotters 1
3 goals, 3-0, 3 points.
i don’t like Bolton Wanderers
Time for 3 more points. Come on Wolves!
NOTLOB…..hahaha
A hangover from the ALOB days. I still never write the word a****n out in full either.
Thats coz you cant spell it !!!
Ha ha ha
We am yam yams we am,
Lest we forget
Missed a couple of prediction games. Ooops..
Still ruing a lack of goals. Could cost us a playoff run.
I am terrible at this so am going back to basics in order to try and get some points on the board.
I HATE BOLTON MORE
IN KENNY WE TRUST
I love it when the games come thick and fast. Fancy a comfortable win.
A goal from Clayton but hopefully cancelled out by two from Leon
Has to be a win but I can’t see us losing the scoring jitters yet.
It will be 8 goals in 8 games. Not enough. Clarke out, anybody in!
An early goal to settle the nerves, then we pass them off the park. Henry to score!
Can’t get a score right this season so I’ve asked the wife this time
unusual weekend for me I’ve only missed 3 home games in 20 years and due bad planning I’m not there tomorrow it’s a friends wedding down south. We won every other one I missed so omens are good
Easy easy easy easy
I’m going for a repeat of the score line against Boltons Lancashire neighbours Blackburn. And yes I hate Bolton there in my top five of most detested clubs, Arsenal being top I think I’ve told you the reasons why 2 F.A Cup simi final defeats, see still carnt talk about it.
I’m happy with where we but carnt help thing if we had landed a big center forward we would be in an even better position I know Clarke got slated for his missed chance but to be fair to the bloke he hasn’t seen much action so far this season I’d like to see him given a chance now, now he shaken some of the rustiness off if Kenny can get him back to his pre-season form then who knows where well be come Christmas .
Clarke could be the answer but if we don’t give him the chance to prove himself then well never know…?
Easy win ….. Hopefully. ..
It used to be 1-0 to the Arsenal. It’s our turn now!
Okay first of all and I have no idea why its like that but I seem to be under both “Hamlet” and “Hamlet – mrberrill”…am guessing maybe its because I predicted from my phone :/
Still, here’s to a fairly comfortable win here!
We’ve conceded 3 goals, bolton has scored 4…
Bolton. Bogey bloody Bolton. They’ll score, because that’s what they do against us. But only one because it’s now the 2014 Wolves defence. And our strike force will now go one better. At least. Please.
Hope Dicho gets a goal for all his graft and effort
UTW
Come on wolves back to winning ways and a clean sheet would be nice
Showing my age !
Nat Lofthouse isn’t playing so we will win this one .
Simples !
Normal service resumes, although lack of goals in the for column is an on going problem, as we all know. But what a breath of fresh air this team and manager is, it feels good to be a Wolves fan. COYW.
I also hate bolton more than any other team I remember lofty the lion taking the mick out of wolves fan and then getting a meat pie round the head so I will go for 3 0 wolves evans scoring 2 and 1 for sako
Time to give someone a stuffing!!!
Could we hope for a leon clarke hatrick!!! After is front of goals issues during the week I suspect he may return to the bench. A couple from dicko and 1 from sako will do nicely.
Mixed feelings about Bolton, saw some frustrating games against them in the 50s/60s but enjoyed seeing Nat Lofthouse take over in goal (pre substitutes) in one game at Molineux – he was the only one that season to save a Harry Hooper penalty – and also enjoyed seeing him lob a snowball at the ref who’d (correctly) turned down his penalty appeal … the ref just wagged his finger at him, in todays game he’d probably been sent off and charged with bringing the game into disrepute.
Difficult to forecast anything other than a win, I think the defence is good enough- barring accidents – to keep them out, so going with a good win.
I just hope that Clarke won’t be on the field ! With our defence keeping them out maybe this week we’ll be able to really make the dominant play count.
I hate Bolton. Think they might break our streak here
Its about time we started to hit the barn door ,so that’s why I’m going for a big win to the real wanderers…UTW..
Can’t see us getting a bag full of goals yet but still think we’ll win so……
As predicted by my partner who knows absolutely nothing about football. But then again I got the last two wrong so what do I know!
Normal service resumed after a couple of unrewarded performances.
I’m still hoping Leon Clarke will actually start making something of his talent.I am running out of patience quite quickly though and perhaps he is one of those who ultimately wastes everthing with a poor attitude.
Wolftone
First things first, I hate Bolton too.
I’ve never liked them, but this turned to hatred in 1995 – the injustice of it.
Cannot recall any happy memories involving them. I hate them!
Hate their ground, hate their old ground, hate their team, hate their shirt, hate their badge, hate their owner.
– mind with only 600 tickets sold it seems their fans do too – oh, I hate their fans too!
It’s about time we ‘spanked’ the opposition. Please let it be tomorrow.
I’ll settle for 2-0 courtesy of a Sako & Dicko
Think all us fans of a certain age hate them along with Tesco, Leeds, Brighton (they always beat us)
Prediction wise, I’m sticking with 1-1 as that has served us well in recent weeks in the hope Wolves get the 3 points and not me
Bogey team time.
Really important to get back to winning ways here – I don’t want pressure to start to build with “losing touch with pacesetters” in addition to “not scoring enough goals”. Bloody Bolton.
After a whirlwind week travelling to Blackpool, Charlton and tomorrow to Molineux from Nottingham I need some light relief, which will only come in the form of a three point afternoon.
If KJ gets the lads up for it as they were on Tuesday, we will win. As for scoring goals, our achilles heel, tomorrow may the day the tide turns and its about time we stuffed somebody and Bolton, so I`ll share Clive`s mantle.
Wolves will win, i hope.
A win bolted on.
I fancy KJ to mix it up with a 442 from the start. Clarke to silence the doubters with a Brace.
its worked before….
Stearman bullit header 88th minute.
Any win is good but a two goal margin will keep the last minute nerves at bay.
I’m torn between staying at the foot of the predictions league or running the risk of jinxing them. But we should beat em
I haven’t even seen a game this season but I will try and get this online… Maybe. So I’m hoping for a good fight and win. Fk em up, Get in to em
The Trotters don’t seem to be doing very well lately. Let’s turn them over. 3-1 to Wolves!
I do hope our striker(s) have their shooting boots on, but again I think we will dominate possession and not be clinical enough in the final third.
I see a nail biting narrow victory.
ONLY JOKING!!!
4 fooking nil to Kenny’s Killers
UTW
I hope that the goal drought will break. I think that is is just a matter of time. Playing some great football.
With the knowledge that I’m struggling in the prediction league, I’ll go with the bogey team to snatch it at the death, hope I’m wrong, UTW!
Hopefully a comfortable win but Notlob have always caused us problems so not a stroll in the park.
I remember Bully sitting distraught on the pitch at the end of the match, predication 1-0 want 15-0.
Just leaving for the match. Taking my lucky charm with me (daughter Emily) so predicting a win as she is yet to see us lose. One of the days we are going to score a hatfull as we are dominating particularly in midfield. As, for a change, I’m only predicting that we’ll score one, it’ll probably be today! Come on me babbies!!!
Not sure we’ll have it easy but I’ll go for another win.
Could this be the day Wolves give Bolton the hiding we’ve all been praying for. Please ?
Feeling a big win, we’ve earned one
Another Wolves win at home!
Almost forgot but hopefully just in time to predict another wolves win. Also can’t stand Bolton and hopefully can put this bogey team to the sword.
COYW
As a departure from my boring 2-1 win!!
Squirrel on the pitch today…
Looking for NUTS but found BOLTon.
Just thought I’d add that little thought to this THREAD.
Oh yeah and the little matter of another 1-nil. I will not got fed up of saying that!
Well all those fans who were showing their HATE for all things Bolt on must be in raptors today. What an emphatic stuffing that was, goals ! I couldn’t give a monkeys for after watching that display, I ws even clapping Leon for his one two footy with Henry down the wing.
Dogie Freedman must be back at the drawing board this morning after the bum kicking we gave his team.
If I am honest, we played better teams with more heart in div 1 last season tnan those we have encountered so far in the Championship.
Had my two grandsons with me and if that does’nt secure two more fans fir the future, I don’t knoew what will. It would be interesting to see the percentage of play Wolves had in this one.
Goldbourne…….
Well there’s a whole new blog, he was unbelievable, we need to dedicate a page to that guy, he is so solid, his vision, passing, overlapping down the wing, contol of the ball and command of the opposition threat was sublime. He is just so good, he performs week in week out and slips under the radar each game. If it’s Kenny for King, then I support Goldbourne for Pope., what a star he was yesterday.
🙂 🙂
Happy Bunny or what
Wolves 59% v 41% Bolton .. its looks like our standards are slipping below the 60% mark !! lol
Agree with you totally about Golbourne .. I saw him on his debut v Port Vale away and his first pass went behind Sako for a Vale throw in .. my first thoughts were .. “what have we done here” .. ever since I’ve been happy to eat my words …. What a player !!
