Having emerged from their difficult run of games against the Premiership’s elite, Wolves face Bolton at Molineux tomorrow hoping for another strong performance and most importantly, a positive result.

It will be a tough game against Owen Coyle’s men and you only have to look at the league table to realise this. Currently, the Trotters lie fifth and above the likes of Spurs, Villa and Liverpool.
Curiously though, they’ve only won three games this season, which is amazing when you consider Wolves, who occupy 19th position have won twice. Still, seven draws and only two defeats tells you they’ve built their success on being difficult to beat, so this promises to be a stern test for Mick and the boys.
Stephen Ward’s injury could open the door for either Elokobi or van Damme to find a place in the starting eleven, whilst injuries to Edwards and Doyle are also being assessed. I’d imagine Doyle will play if he’s got a hand injury as he made it through the second half against Arsenal with the aid of strapping. Edwards probably won’t be risked if he’s carrying a muscle strain.
This is the team I reckon we’ll see:
Hahnemann
Foley
Berra
Stearman
Elokobi
Hunt
Henry
Mancienne
Milijas
Jarvis
Doyle
Prediction League
Well done to Kowloon Wolf for being the only armchair pundit to correctly forecast a 2-0 Arsenal win on Wednesday. Eight other people said we’d lose, but none got the score right.
We need to be looking at a minimum four point return from the next two games, so we really could do with three points tomorrow, in order to lift some of the pressure heading into next weekend’s game at Blackpool.
My head says draw and my heart says a narrow Wolves win.
Providing we don’t make any sloppy errors at the back for a change, I’ll back us to edge this one.
1-0 to the Wolves.
As always, if you’re going to the game, have a great time and lets really get behind the lads. A win tomorrow could kick-start our season.
Up The Wolves.
* Oh, I wanted to mention the ‘Comment League Table’. I was contacted last week by a Wolves Blog regular who wanted me to change how his name appeared in the table, which was really easy for me to do. So if anyone else wants their name changing on there, let me know. Also, I know some people have commented using two different email addresses, which will mean they have two tallys running simultaneously. If that is the case, let me know your two emails and I’ll combine them to give you one overall number. Hope that makes sense.

We need to start getting the results our performances deserve.
I reckon Ward will play, he has his own set of physios set aside by Mick. Hope Doyle is playing as I reckon the goals are coming for him.
2-1 Wolves. Doyle and Ward
That is quite a decent lineup, and we will get something from this game. I know we have not been winning (apart from the man city game), but since milijas, hunt and stearman have come one, and since we’ve reverted back to the 4-5-1, we’ve had an incredible amount of possession (outdoing arsenal… who would have thought?!), and a load of chances. its about time the chances turn into goals.
as long as we cut out the stupid mistakes at the back we will win.
wolves 2-1.
PS. if doyle stays injured i cant decide between fletcher and SEB to lead the line! i think our back line cannot hack a 4-4-2 yet.
I’d like to see us set up with:
Foley
Berra / Moyokolo
Stearman
Van Damme / Mancienne
Hunt
Henry
Jones (tho when Guedioura is back fit I can’t wait for him to slot in here)
Milijas
Jarvis
Doyle
Actually forgot to say….. mancienne’s distribution was absolutely terrible against arsenal, well at least the ones i can remember. he turned over the ball a fair amount of times, and didnt do too well defesively either. hopefully he does his job in shielding a lot better on the weekend.
We should have two prediction tables. One for when Ward plays left back, and a second when he doesn`t. I can`t believe MM would be so stupid to play him tomorrow after the injury sustained on Wed. My boss entertained me to a posh seat at the Reebok last season, and I still have nightmares about how far Ward was standing off that asian right winger.
I`ll go with 3-1 to Wolves if Ward is not playing, and 1-2 if Ward plays.
Another good performance in the week and another empty return. Lets hope we finally get what we deserve from a game an optimistic 3-0 Wolves for me, don’t really care who scores!!!
Its a draw all over it.
Nil – Nil – at least we won’t conceed!
Again, I think we’ll be all over em like a tramp on chips but to no avail.
I’ve watched Bolton a few times this season and they have been very impressive to say the least. However if we can maintain the performance levels of the last few weeks then I think we will win 2 – 0. I’m worried in case the players ease off because it’s Bolton and not Arsenal et al. I also think like Mark Davies above that if Ward plays the score will be against us, he’s just too easy to play against!
2-0 Win for Wolves come on!!!!!!!
I’m in twice on the comments table Thomas as kwolf and Kwolf.
I’ll go for a narrow defeat Wolves 1:2 Bolton. (As Ward wants to play through the pain barrier according to the E&S!)
With 19 games without a clean sheet our defence is shocking and we dont seem to be taking the chances we create at the moment. Plus we alwasy seem to lose these ‘must win’ at home games!
Got a ticket for the match tomorrow (my first for a while) so I hope I’m totally wrong in my prediction!
Got to say, my fear is that having played well against the better teams in the league, we lose our way here and the ‘performance’ doesn’t resemble what we’ve seen in recent games against the top teams.
That said, Bolton must be doing something right this season given the table, so it’s game on!
Out of pure desperation for three points: 1-0 Wolves. Doyler.
2-2 draw. you heard it here first.
Well, I’m on a roll with these predictions. Might as well enjoy it while I can.
I’m going for a 0-0 draw. Bolton look solid and maybe will be happy with a draw, and (let’s face it) we lack poke up front. Nevertheless, our first clean sheet of the year, I reckon.
2-0 to Wolves. Goals by Milijas and Doyle.
1-1, tough game. point would be decent
This is where our season starts, after all the plaudits for our performances of late,we need to start to pick up points.I think we will shade it tomorrow 2-1 with Ned repeating his thunderbolt from last season. The goals will come and someone is going to get a pasting.Mines a Port…….
3-1 win and we can all breath easily for a bit
Stick my neck out like Jack Charlton ( read your history books, young uns ) and go for a 4 – 0 thumping.
Bolton will come in feeling all cocky and “My name is Davies and I played for England”, and we stuffed Spurs last week, and we are 6th, and expect to turn us over.
We are gonna give them a right Molineux welcome, and score in the third and fifteenth minute, effectively finishing them off.
Thomas, please change my comment count coz I got big and small “f”.
Thankee.
FOSW
3-1 Wolves win.
A couple from Doyle and a Milijas pile driver.
I’m making the 7 hour round trip for this one. Lets hope I’m a good omen as the last game I went to was the win against Stoke at the start of the season.
Looking forward to a pint of Banks’s!
After all the guff of having played well and lost, now we just need to win. 2-1 Wolves. The usual nervy ending
2-0 Wolves, surely our luck must change…I think….
1-1 i’m afraid
2-1 Wolves (Milijas and SEB) Win today will really kickstart our season and the confidence will soar. HUGE GAME.
Cooked peas! MMs going for it. I’ll go 4-4 draw please.
Well, all I can say after seeing that is: well played Bolton. They were seriously impressive. Elmander’s goal made us look like completet mugs, but was one of the finest I’ve seen. Muamba was all over Henry, and the little Korean was a real handful.
Don’t know what we are saying to each other in the pre-kickoff huddle, but (assuming it’s got nothing to do with Pakistani bookies) for the love of God, can we say somehting to wake us up for the first minute?
Our fightback was excellent, but no cigar. We just came up short against a good side in very good nick; a side who looked better than Man City and Man U.
We are really going to struggle to stay up – to state the bleedin’ obvious.
we were pathetic for seventy minutes. then we woke up.
Why 442 Mick? We finally find a good system and we change it!!
Jarvis and Milijas were our best players. Big George was ok as was FOley (who is always ok)
Worst I’ve seen Henry play for a while.
I thought George was shocking today, positioning was bad and his distribution was bloody awful!!! Milijas and Jarvo only ones to come out of it with any real credit although Doyle showed some good touches. Strange after all the doubts being thrown around about Berra we looked more without him, maybe that was the reason for all the gaps that seemed to appear??
McCarthy out! Absolutely f**king clueless.
clueless? He didnt play ward/edwards(inj)/berra plus he played SEB, isnt that what youve been shouting for??
Typically disrupted just before kick off, seems were due a lot more luck than were getting. Fingers crossed it comes quickly because we do deserve some!
Well played Foley/Jarvis/Milijas/SEB but also well played a lot of the bolton players was v impressed with muamba.
I don’t think I’ve ever shouted for SEB but regardless of that please tell me how being 3-0 down to Bolton at home is anything but useless?
Bolton are a renowned physical team who are playing well, clueless ignored the fact that we’ve played well in a certain 451 system and changes it in favour of 442 therefore weakening our midfield, inviting more pressure on a new defensive line.
We were awful, no dreadful the fact that we scored 2 late goals keeps fools like you happy. We will be relegated this season not because we have poor players but because out manager is clueless!
Certainy not happy and prob just as disappointed that we typically succumbed so easily at times. Sorry to pick u personally just think that was pretty much the team everybody would have picked themselves. MM can’t do anymore I guess. Personally I think we should be playing fletch and SEB up front but do agree 442 with Doyle, or Henry on his own doesnt work. But I thik weve good enough players it will do if we keep supporting whoever MM picks. Didnt realise that was foolish!
I apologise for calling you a fool fella – I’m a little frustrated to say the least. We scored 2 goals and because of it certain people will believe we played well. We scored 2 goals after the game was pretty much finished as a contest albeit they were good goals and we were unfortunate to not snatch a draw at the death.
We cannot give teams a head start and to be 3 down at home is atrocious end of story. Who’s to blame then? For me its the manager. Interesting to note he has criticised his forwards in his post match comments, which confirms he is clueless. This game was lost by the defence and not because our forwards didn’t score. Scoring 2 at home should give you at least a point anything less is poor indeed.
well said! V constructive and agree with you on these points. I think i would point the finger at MM today too, but not always up till now. I still think he’s the man though and whilst it’s not satisfying to have to keep on saying it-i still think we’ll be fine well before the end of the season. Why can’t we ever get off to a flyer though ey?
Thank goodness , that’s one of the easy games out of the wat
Have to say thats 8 defeats from 9 last 9 PL games, not good enough by any stretch of the imigination.!3 games gone, and we need at leeast 31 more points to stay up… thats 10 wins from 25 games…sorry , but that just ain’t going to happen
Lose at Blackpool next week and McCarthy’s job will be on the line. We will soon here the dreaded voted of confidence. Moxey and Morgan at some point will have to comment on our situation, especially as the fans pay through the nose for admssion
Isn’t McCarthys position on the line already? As you say 8 defeats from 9 – we know the players can play, so therefore it must be the tactics! This needs sorting and I agree 10 wins out of 25 there is no chance, in fact I’m not exactly sure where the next win will come from, it certainly won’t be at Blackpool!
