I must admit, I’d love to beat Arsenal.
It has nothing to do with Premier League survival. Regardless of tomorrow’s result, we will be playing Championship football next season.
However, the Gunners are the only big-name side we haven’t managed to overcome in our 3-year stint in the top tier, so before we slip away it would be nice to complete the set.

Manchester’s Utd and City, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool have all tasted defeat at the hands of the old gold, but Arsene Wenger’s side have continued to dominate.
They’ve won 4 of the 5 meetings and we had to cling on for dear life at the Emirates back in December to avoid a clean sweep.
Current form suggests they’ll make it 5 wins from 6 without breaking sweat, but their 7 defeats on the road offers a small glimmer of hope.
The big problem is that Wolves just can’t turn in a complete 90-minute performance. The second the opposition start turning the screw, we wilt and die.
You would think that Arsenal are tailor-made for exploiting each of our many frailties, given their passing ability and pace in wide areas. It could be a long old night.
The Team
If TC wants to avoid a cricket score in this one, I’d be sacrificing a forward and plugging the holes in midfield. This would be my team:

I’ve been saying for weeks Nenad should get a start and I still believe we’d see an improvement with his inclusion, especially if he’s got Henry and Davis putting in the leg work defensively.
Just sit in, make it difficult and use the wingers as the outlet ball. That must be the plan. Anything else is suicidal in my eyes.
The one grain of positivity in recent weeks has been Jarvis and Kightly working in tandem. The latter in particular has stepped up his game and looked a real player. It will be difficult to match those levels against Arsenal but a good test all the same.
Prediction League
21 people predicted defeat against Stoke but only Super Kev Doyle said 2-1. Well done to him for taking the maximum 3 points on offer. Everyone else takes a single.
Has to be an Arsenal win doesn’t it?
Depressing to say that, as I’m pretty sure I’ve never actually seen us ever beat them in my lifetime. Can anyone remember a win in the last 27 years against the Gunners?
Anyway, I’ll go for a 4-0 defeat.
If you’re at Molineux, raise the roof as you did against Bolton. I thought the support in that game was fantastic.
Up The Wolves.

I think I have got more chance of playing in midfield than Nenad has of replacing Dave Edwards under Connor. (If he gets a game) Milijas to score an unlikely winner for redemption after his ‘sending off’ at the Emirates??
Dude, I’m an Arsenal fan and I sweat through games like this, in spite of the stats. I just want a win, even 1-0 will do, scored by Sagna.
Yeh man I agree with you and I am an Arsenal fan too but I think Hennessey is one of the best keepers in the league and I would rather see Jenkinson on the pitch and rest Sagna and I’m not just saying this because I fancy Carl Jenkinson
Throw the team sheet away and put the young ‘uns’ on. Blood them for next season in the championship…..nothing to lose, Ismail and co are the future
hmmm that reminds me, back in a bit just off to search the archives for a dream I had a while ago.
Please replace Sunderland with Arsenal and Mick with TC ;0) – obviously it might be stretching it a little to think even Zeli can save our season now!
Hudds Wolf says:
December 3, 2011 at 12:02 PM
Another Wolves win for me……….we’d be top if my predictions came true………so don’t hold out too much hope. Half of me thinks its my fault, the other half say’s don’t change now your luck’s about to change :0). You can see how how people find themselves in bother with betting.
Anyway……..Wolves 3-2 Sunderland……….epic comeback from 0-2 down, as at half time Mick plays his trump card Zeli. He scores a hatrick then goes on to save our season and become the next Rooney, with less grunting and more hair. England become Euro Champions with Zeli again the star.
Man City then buy Zeli for one Zillion pounds, he keeps up the tradition of big money flops from Wolves to City, following in Steve Daley’s footsteps. They sell him back to us on the cheap and he slots perfectly into the all star side we’ve assembled with his transfer fee. Wolves go on to dominate for English, European, World and Universal football. Finally building the huge stadium starts to make a little more sense.
Wolves take pity on their local rivals Sandwell, offering them our youngsters that emerge from our academy to bolster their frail second division squad. They then act as our feeder club for a number of years, until the success of our all singing new academy enables them to climb back through the divisions. Obviously the contract doesn’t allow our youngsters to play for them in the Black Country derbies so we batter them each year both home and away, bringing joy to Wolverhampton and all that sail in her. This unbridled joy soon filters through into other sectors in the city, new vibrant businesses spring up all around the place. Wolverhampton is soon seen as the place where the streets are paved with old gold. The country is dragged from the economic doldrums by the money generated by this emerging Super City. In time England once again becomes an economic giant in the world, people start taking us seriously again and the term ‘made in England’ ensures sales around the world (initially as long as it has Wolverhampton before England, but in time, even simply England).
So Mick, put him on the bench then bring him on at half time. Do it for the fans, do it for Wolves, do it for Wolverhampton, do it for your country (England, not your adopted one!)
Gooner here, only loss in my lifetime was in ’79…I was a toddler and can’t remember it myself though! Sad to see you go – the game Frimmy got kicked in the face showed what you are capable of – and that’s Prem football.
Know that you are making us all nervous!!
Losing Frimmy has cost us dearly. I reckon we’d be a few points better off minimum had he remained fit.
’79 you reckon? That’s a long old slog. About time we got one over you then I’d say. Just can’t see it being tomorrow though.
You’ll take third place at a canter so I wouldn’t get too nervous.
Good time to be an Arsenal fan. I reckon you’re going to have a big season next time around.
Sadly can’t see anything but an Arsenal win. 3-0.
I’ve got a funny feeling we’re going to sneak this one. I’ll go for a 1-0 nail biter.
Wolves 1 – 7 Arselick
No chance Nenad will play which is a shame because he’s a real footballer not some cart horse that can run a lot.
I like the look of your team Thomas, well the front 6 anyway!
I see Ward is pleading for the squad to be kept together next season – and that my friends says it all!
Yea I could get behind that lineup of yours.
Prediction: 2-1 arsenal..
A very comfortable 3-0 for Arsenal. Arteta and Van Persie with two. Bring on the npower and Curbs!
Forget it Curbs will NOT be coming to the Mol.
Wolves 2 – 1 Arsenal
Brace for Kightly, RVP with the goal for Arsenal.
Wolves 1-3 Arsenal but at least we are trying of late.
The problem with playing Milijas in an attacking midfielder position is that he so static. Edwards like to roam forwards and support Fletcher, while Milijas is a playmaker type and would lurk behind Fletcher. Edwards was also involved in the goal last match.
It is so rare Milijas play that I can’t remember last time he fired a long range shot, which he did quite often in the first seasons.
I’m looking forward to see Davis pairing up with Henry. Davis doesn’t differentiate much from Frimpong. Once again we will become difficult to beat.
I go for a draw 1-1
5-0 Gunners, no reason to believe anything but a massive loss is coming.
Minimum a good performance. Above that heaven knows. Koscielny suspended.
Wolves 1 Arsenal 3. Want a win but can’t see it.
When Arsenal won the double in the early seventies, with that wonder goal from Charlie George to beat Liverpool at Wembley, they were the best team in the land, by far.
The following November, my Dad finally managed to get his hand out of his pocket and bought our first colour TV.
It was a Saturday.
It was snowing.
The Beeb had the Match of The Day cameras at The Mol. Not every match was shown in them days, one on Saturday, hence match of the day, and one on Sunday, on ITV
Wolves v Arsenal.
Half time Wolves 0 Arsenal 1
Full time, with Waggy having scored goal of the season, Wolves 5 Arsenal 1.
All the Wolves goals at the cowshed end.
I know, coz I was there, along with Mark G Davies, Scooped and many thousand others.
Saturday afternoons don’t come much better than that.
I even forewent ( is that a word?) the usual punch up at the station to rush home to make sure the new TV was working, so I could watch it all again, in glorious colour!!
One of the Molineux highlights of my life.
It is memories like this that make us lifelong Wolves fans, moxey, not your pie in the sky early bird crap and dna shit.
Prediction: the usual crap “I dont wanna be here” players, giving their usual hopeless performances.
If TC has any balls whatsoever he will blood as many youngsters as he can, and see what they can do.
God knows we’ve seen what the “pros” can do this season.
But, as we know, TC is more of a yes man than McDickwadhead was, and as the aforesaid McD is probably still pulling puppet connor’s strings, we’ll get the same old shit we have come to love this season.
For once though, my heart is ruling my head, and I feel we will win.
And, as I know y’all are getting withdrawl symptoms coz I aint wrote it for a while, I will finish with my old flourish………………
Fuck Off W… B….
Yep! I was there too. Having persuaded the girlfriend to forget Christmas shopping and come to the match, we were freezing our nuts off in the old enclosure stood on the half way line. What a cracking performance in awful conditions – and the lads were pretty impressive too!
Great memories.
I was there and Bob Wilson was in goal for Arsenal oh what memories.
Very misguided loyalty there I`m afraid, its obvious you don`t go to games anymore. We will get turned over by 4 clear goals minimum. The news I want to hear is that we `ve appointed a top class manager by the weekend so he can get to know the players before he decides who to sell and who to keep in the summer.
For once lets swallow our pride and copy albions model – 1st class coach, technically gifted young playeres ala brunt, thomas, molumbu, morrison, Long, dorrans mixed with old head experience ala reid, odemwingie, macauley, gera etc… and play the ball on the bloody floor, passing at pace and have the ability to break quickly. They have yoyo`d for some time now, steadily adding talent each year, we can learn from that. McCarthy single handedly ruined our prem chances with poor signings and being loyal to crap championship quality players. The new guy need to have an eye for real teachnical ability and be ruthless with the failed old guard.
How the fuck do you deduce from my post that ” I don’t go to games any more”, and who the fuck are you to say that strong memories are misguided loyalty???
It’s pretty fuckin’ obvious that I don’t get to many games, since I live in Texas, but I suppose you have no idea that Texas is in fact in another country, approx. 3500 miles from the Mol. Buses are infrequent.
If you are that in love with sandwell town why don’t you get off our blog and piss off down the road, taking greasel with you.
Never was a blog posted that stated the bleedin’ obvious so much!!!
I think this one is going to be our biggest defeat of the season,6 or 7 perhaps i hate to say.
Hope i’m wrong.
The sooner this season ends the better for me,i’m hurting really bad.MORGAN MUST GET RID
OF POXEY AND TC.
Get a new manager in NOW.
same old story. Spirited start followed by us getting battered. Arsenal 5-1 wolves
I feel we are due some luck. Just the 2-0 defeat then.
Ha! I like this, and I’ll agree with the prediction too.
Wolves 0-2 Arsenal.
Arsenal are my “other team” in the Prem so if we have to lose it may as well be to them. I’d settle for one shot on target. UTW !
0-3 arse!
What are they doin to my first love?
Who else has heard Jarvo is Stoke bound? Pulis knows all about him from Gills. And his cross ratio for the 2 blunderbusses seems to fit their dan.
As we stagger on blindly towards the Championship I’m just hoping for a half-decent performance.
It would be nice to see Davis and Henry get the start – I’d like to see them both in midfield a lot next season (and Henry with the armband).
I’m not sure we’ll score I’m afraid and Wayne’s gonna be very busy again!
We are at home, if that makes any difference, so I’ll say a 3-0 loss.
Wolves win 2-1 on their way to the most unlikely Premier League survival story in its short history.
At last we saw Wolves realise their potential with excellent wing play converted expertly by Fletcher for his brace. This combined with stoic defending was enough to create the upset that turned Wolves season on 11 April 2012.
The wins that followed against Sunderland, Swansea and ultimately Wigan, together with a point against Everton took the famous gold and black club to 35 points, one more than QPR and the safety of 17th spot, was strangely familiar.
It was a season that Wolves’s fans would never forget…
Steve McQueen and his buddies could not get out of this !!!!!!!!
Still standing firm onmy prediction we won’t get another point this season! TC hasn’t a clue…and the dressing room is divided! Wolves 0 – 6 Arsenal
WtId
You’re probably right that we won’t end up with any more points, but all this ‘TC hasn’t a clue’ stuff is just stupid. Considering the awful situation he’s in, I actually think he’s carried himself with remarkable dignity. Those at the top of the hierarchy don’t have a clue, certain members of the playing staff are more clueless than I’d previously thought possible, but I think it’s unfair to pass judgement on Connor based on the last few weeks.
Well said, Super Kev.
I agree with you that the management & certain players are clueless – pretty much everything that could have been done wrong or handled badly has been and we’re now a laughing stock.
However I DO think that TC is culpable for some of this abortion of a season.
He has resided over defeat after defeat and if anything the team are ‘playing’ worse now than when Mick was in charge.
If he had radically shook up tactics and got the players playing with some pride and passion then I could forgive the losses, but they look like they don’t give a shit – therefore the respect for him can’t be there like it was, at least, for MM.
I’m sorry, but TC’s a joke. I sympathise, as he’s been thrust into an impossible situation, but do you know what? I would give the job to Ince for the rest of the season if that’s what he wants – things could NOT be worse AND he would kick some arses and get them playing.
If he had any dignity he would have resigned.
As for the hierarchy of our club…I don’t disagree with you, but I do think it’s completely fair to pass judgment on TC based on his current performance. It has been dire beyond belief! Super Kev…I shall clarify. Based on the facts that
1. TC has been an integral part of the construction of the current squad of players at his disposal.
2. TC has been an integral part of the construction of this teams tactical approach to games for the whole of the McCarthy era.
3. The fact that we have taken a grand total of 1 point in seven games now. Failing to even register anything like a result against teams such as Bolton and Blackburn (during this run of defeats).
Furthermore we have had to endure the division in the team being clearly demonstrated on the pitch (a man management issue!), not to mention poor use of the squad available (Hammil etal being loaned out when all hands should be to the pumps – further man management issues!) therefore I stand by my statement ‘TC hasn’t got a clue’.
TC is tactically naïve, (polite for hasn’t got a clue!) and has limited man management skills! As for him having dignity…I don’t care. Does Sir Alex Ferguson have dignity, Brian Clough, etc etc, is it by their dignity that we measure their abilities as football managers? I don’t think so! Don’t we all have a good laugh at Kevin Keegan going into meltdown during an interview over Sir Alex’s lack of dignity? Who won the league that year?
It’s nice that a second rate coach like TC is a ‘nice man’ but that doesn’t win football matches! Which is his job! He is meant to motivate the players and be able to employ a system using their abilities that allows us to compete in this division…which with the playing staff we have are more than capable of doing. I reiterate…TC hasn’t got a clue! He is out of his depth and due to his inability to prepare our team and devise any sort of tactics to combat the superior ability of the Arsenal team…or any team in this division I consider we will loose tonight…and for the rest of the season! TC is the punch line to McIdiots joke!
I think there may be unanimous sympathy among the press for TC. I will not change my position, he should have gone 2 seasons ago!
Good championship coach, at best……obviously has not learnt a lot over the last 3 seasons.
So please “Super Kev” ,we may feel the same way about most of your post, but TC has been unable to progress the team. TC is very much part of the problem! please accept that.
Davis and Henry – a bit negative for a home match when we need the points . . . . . but if we can keep them out and nick one from a set piece that will do for me. No Jarvis?? – injured??
Sadly I can only see us extending our record beaten run. I predict Wolves 1 Arsenal 4. I also predict that in his post match interview TC will say that the boys gave him everything and that he couldn’t have asked for more and that, we are not mathematically relegated yet and that he is here until the end of the season. At least we’re consistent. Up the Wolves.
We’ll lose 3-1. Hopefully we’ll have a decent half hour in there somewhere to make the journey up from London sort of worth it.
Had a very nice Sunday luch with my inlaws, all man City fans, and enjoyed their frustration and defeat against a very good Arsenal side. So good in fact that I can`t bear to see both Walcott, then Chamberlain whats his name, using their exceptional pace to make Ward look the joke left back he is , and one of the reasons our defence can`t cope with life in the premiership.
Despite my season ticket i`m not going, I`d love a win but just can`t see it. For that reason i`ll go for a 2-1 win. I`ll have the waccy baccy later.
Same old same old fun and frolicks for about 20 mins, concede a goal and the rot sets in. I really can’t see anything other than an A*****L win with yet another big score.
On the other hand WW could confound the critics and play out of their skins and maybe sneak a draw with a last minute goal in off the refs backside…..or even pinch the match 1-0 with a dubious off-side goal or better still a penalty in the 7th min of extra time. Mid week games are always the best chance of rolling a big team over so long as you give them a noisy, torrid time and hopefully it’s tipping down.
As ever keep the faith, believe and UTW..!!!!!
P.S…I still think the bottom 5 are as bad as each other, whoever holds their nerve will survive to fight another season and we can all see what a difference 2 wins back to back can make. There’s still 21 points to play for. Let’s hope and dream just a little bit longer.
3-1 Arsenal. We’ve got no chance.
A disturbance in the force, I sense. Wolves 2-1 Arsenal. Hmm.
Heading to the molineux very shortly myself. Despite everything a trip to the golden palace when I’m in the midlands still has to happen. Especially with the offer of premier league football quickly slipping away.
I’ll be screaming my lungs out for the boys but I can only imagine that we’ll succumb fairly quickly.
4-0 arsenal.
Up the wolves
Wolves will start off well and score first, because that’s what we do… then we’ll give away a silly equaliser, because that’s what we do… then we’ll get outplayed and given the runaround for 60 minutes, because that’s what other teams do to us… then when it’s too late we’ll stage a bit of a fight back, because that’s what we do… then TC will say that the lads gave him everything but were short of quality in the final third, because that’s what he does.
Wolves 1, Arsenal 3.
If Terry Connor put the club before his ‘ego’ and salary he would have resigned.
That would have shown some dignity.
The same with MM at the end of last season.
Its a shambles directed by a CEO who is still in charge!
It is almost Brechtian in its absurdity.
Certainly it is Theatre of the Absurd…
Love to see us win 2-0 but realistically, ( despite the waccy baccy) ,
Arsenal are playing very well and after 3rd place, while we are in the depths of despair.
I think to restrict them to a 2-0 defeat will mean we have played admirably.
Likely result and final prediction:
Wolves 0 Arsenal 7
I’ve some truly shite memories of arsenal from down the years… the FA Cup semi at vile park with Keano and Bully on the bench and them winning thanks to steve sedgley facing the wrong direction when a long ball flew over our defence… paying well over £100 to go to highbury, get spat on by cockneys and then watch our first team get mullered 5-1 by their kids in the carling cup (fabregas’ debut that, btw) and they didn’t even start singing till they were winning 3-0. bastards.
tonight we are gonna lose, but i think we might actually give them a game in the process, there’s no pressure on us and there’s loads on them. ultimately tho their class will tell, especially when they keep the ball for 5 minutes at a time… for all the shifts our players put in no-one can run for that long without the ball.
i’m gonna say 3-0, but it’ll be tight for ages before they score a few at the end.
Unlikely to get anything from this game, 3-0 Arsenal.
lets see…. whats the score going to be??? wolves lost v arsenal won……..that was a hard one to predict- now what shall i do with the other 59 seconds of this minute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well done poxey and bob the builder. well bloody done..its been like an episode of fawlty towers..thanks for nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t think anybody else has gone for this scoreline yet? So I’ll go for a 6-1 win to Arsenal.
Wolves 0 Arsenal 4
Fletcher on the bench and Edwards again selected. TC is a fucking joke and will finish this season without a win. And that will probably earn him a 3 year contract just to rub in the face of the supporters.
Please, can we just not play the remaining games?
How is Fletch on the bench? When Doyle has done nothing all season. Edwards playing again it makes me piss. Are we playing at home tonight im just wondering why we have 1 up front. 1-0 already and 1 man down 6-0 its going to be. . .
Only 0 -3, must have played well.
9 points from safety with 5 games to play.
Still in the best position of the bottom 5, eh, greasel????
We did play well. The sending off ruined the game but the response was spirited and the Arsenal keeper made two brilliant saves. 37 pts will be enough
Ha Ha Ha.
We are not going to get one more point this season.
Yes Clive, I would be surprised if we do to be honest!
I wonder what odds on scoring no more goals this season?
It’s been absolutely heartbreaking to watch WWFC being constantly neglected by the Big Cheeses at Molineux in favour of bricks, mortar and nepotism.
Nepotism rules ok. Now we know what Jez means by DNA. A stinking shambling toxic waste pool that was once a proud football club.
Heartbreaking!
it’s not all bad… I got 3 points in the prediction league!
Also, echoing Ade in China above, I can’t see us scoring again this season…
