Following Saturday’s last minute heartbreaker at Old Trafford, Wolves have precious little time to recover as Arsenal head for Molineux in tomorrow’s midweek kick-off.
The Gunners also come into the game on the back of a defeat, having lost 1-0 to Newcastle at the Emirates on Sunday. They’ll be smarting from that result and will see this as an excellent opportunity to get back on track quickly.

Their away form has been mixed so far, having won two, drawn two and lost one on the road this season, although their only defeat did come at Stamford Bridge.
A few questions have been asked of Arsene Wenger’s team defensively and with Laurent Koscielny suspended and Thomas Vermaelen still out injured, Wolves will feel they have every chance of causing Arsenal problems at the back.
Going forward, they remain as devastating as ever and with Wolves still yet to keep a clean sheet this season, they’ll be confident of finding the net themselves.
I just wonder whether Mick McCarthy will think about one or two changes to the side that came up agonisingly short against Man United at the weekend? I suspect he’ll maintain the 4-5-1 system that has served us well recently, which will probably mean the likes of SEB and Fletcher remaining on the bench.
Mancienne, van Damme and even Elokobi might be considered for a start, but the same eleven from Saturday remains the most likely bet. That would mean a team of:
Hahnemann
Foley
Berra
Stearman
Ward
Hunt
Henry
Milijas
Edwards
Jarvis
Doyle
Prediction League
A lot of people said we’d lose against United, but only person got the score spot on. Well done to AikiWolves.
Needless to say, having predicted 1-1, I was even more gutted than most to see Park score that late winner, thus bringing to an end my good run of form. Still, I’m still out in front on the overall table.
I’m not feeling in confident mood about tomorrow. Saturday is bound to have taken a lot out of us and you need to be at your sharpest for 90 minutes (plus any injury time) to get anything. Could be a long night. I reckon 3-1 Arsenal.
If you’re going to the game, get right behind the lads. They’ll need our support tomorrow and if we can maintain the level of recent performances, we’ve got a chance.
Up The Wolves.

Heart break for Wolves last week which is cruel, no-one likes to concede in the dying minutes, especially to United.
Another tough one for them this week as well with Arsenal heading to the hallowed custard bowl. And having come off the back of a shock 1-0 loss to the Toon Army they’ll be vying for blood, and there is no better blood than that of a wolf.
Sorry guys but its not going to be pretty, 3-1 to the Arsenal
I think this could be a similar game to City. We’re playing well at the moment and i’m feeling pretty confident so i’ll go 1-1
I pray not for a repeat of last year. Game over by half time and freezing my ass off
“I pray not for a repeat of last year. Game over by half time and freezing my ass off”
I second that motion.
Who’s that bloke in the picture Rich? Not seen him before?
Hope you have more fun tonight then I had against them last season. The recent birth of my first child prevents me going tonight – I’d love to be there though cold or not!!!
Are Arsenal going to be that bad for 2 games on the trott? No sir.
Wolves 1 – Arse 3
And its gunna be proper nippy tomoz night.
Hope I’m wrong, result and weather.
Wolves 1:2 Arsenal – First goal of the season from Doyle, two for Walcott (=three goals for my dream team!!!!).
I still think we should demand a stewards enquiry into the predictions league!!!!
Typical cynicism from a mid-table predictor.
Hope we’re both wrong tomorrow.
Turns out my prediction was optimistic!!!!
My Dad bought our first colour telly back in November 1971.
The first programme I watched was match of the day that night.
It was from The Mol.
We were losing to the previous season’s double winners 0 – 1 at half time.
We scored 5 in the second half, one of which went on to become goal of the season, Waggy’s wonder goal.
They were all at the cowshed end.
It was cold and snowing.
The opposition was Arsenal.
I know, coz I was there.
History does have a habit of repeating itself……………eventually.
I predict the same result.
I have lost my marbles.
FOWB and FO all the usual culprits.
We were dreadful on Sunday against Newcastle and pretty awful against West Ham a week earlier. Throw in a defeat playing a weakened side in the Ukraine and you could say we are in a poor patch. I think Wolves have every chance of getting a result tomorrow, however with this Arsenal side you generally never know what team is going to turn up so I’m not predicting anything 🙂
A refreshingly balanced view.
I too think Wolves have every chance of getting a result, but only if they match the performances of the last two or three weeks, which I feel will be difficult given the short period between this match and Saturday’s defeat at Old Trafford.
Like you say, Arsenal can be a bit unpredictable. I thought you’d have got four or five against West Ham and had you down for a comfortable win against Newscastle. Still, you’re the one team I always see us struggling most against out of the big four.
If you get chance, come back and share your thoughts in the match report blog.
Cheers Gooner.
Not to be pedantic, but a 6 nil thrashing is a result.
What we need is a positive result!!
And I’m sorry, but I have no sympathy for the excuse that “It’s a bit soon after Saturday”
They are supposed to be young, fit men, being paid a fuckin’ fortune compared to the average fan, so stop all the bellyaching about recovery and all that bollocks, stand up and earn your fuckin’ wages, just like the rest of us working stiffs have to do!!!
Thank you Mr. Goonerism for taking the time to infiltrate our blog, and not being derogatory about our bunch of losers. That’s our job!!!
That said, if any shit fans come on here, I won’t be quite as welcoming!!
FOMM
I’m not even going to call this a prediction, i know this is going to happen. 3-1 to the Wanderers. Get your money on now. Sorry no refunds!
which team would u prefer to win the league? I wrote prefer not reckon.
arsenal, chelsea, man utd, man city, totenham?
Tottenham, but they never will! I think they could be there or thereabouts though in a few seasons time. Providing they keep hold of Rednapp, Bale, Defoe, van de Vaart & Modric etc…
Which team would I prefer to win the league???
What kind of stupid question is that?
Wolverhampton Wanderers, of course, and bollocks to the rest of them!!!
FOMM
Ward v Walcott = Wolves 0 – 5 Arsenal
After my last two positive predictions I’ll give it another go, 2-1 Wolves. Doyle and Jarvis to wreak havoc on a weakened Arsenal team.
well I’m not happy I got the score right last week, we played so well and our fans out sang them all day!
I think this will be a 3:1 win to arsenal, I hope I’m wrong but I think saturday will have taken alot out of us
Walcott et al will have too much for our pedestrian defence ( especially left side))… we will out in another good performance, and get the usual result
Wolves 0 Arsenal 3
Agreed. With Glory v Adealide and Wolves v Arsenal tonight – I might not be too happy at 6am tomorrow morning.
2-2.
I have to agree with Clive “It’s a bit soon after Saturday” Rubbish! Haven’t we had an extra days rest with Arsenal playing on Sunday?
Smaller squad – Arsenal have more strength in depth – thus more of our players are needed from Sat. However – Exeter – I like your optimism.
Arsenal 3-0. We wont get any change out of this one.
Having gone to the 4-1 drubbing last year during my annual pilgrimage to the UK I can only have a pessimistic outlook about this.
Wolves 0-2 Arsenal
1-1. I fear for our players’ safety against this dirty physical arsenal outfit
ha, wonder if you’ll get some prediction points for predicting arsenal to play like a dirty team?!
Its going to be very chilly at Molineux tonight, I suspect some of the Arsenal players will be wearing tights and gloves, woozies. If we get in their face they won`t like it, but can we do that while MM keeps picking an inept left back ( sorry I could n`t resist repeating that ),
If we let 2 goals in we will lose, so i reckon a its another 2-1 win to my gold and black heroes, I don`t think Arsenal will fancy it tonight.
I reckon 1-1 tonight.
I’m still going for a repeat of that famous 5 – 1 win from a lifetime ago.
Ward to score a hat trick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now, I will drink my morning coffee and wake up.
FOSW
haha clive what are you dreaming!! if ward scores a hattrick then MM would never EVER take him off! more like ward OG’s that one and jarvis penttrick. if that is a word.
1-0 Wolves. Doyle early goal and then backs to the wall
wolves 2-1. here goes again!
2-1 to Arsenal. Doyle to score early for Wolves, but Arsenal come back with two in the second half.
Shneaky squaky 2-1 to Wolves. Keeping the faith.
We couldn’t have played much better could we? No justice, no luck, no points …and no PL next season 🙁
We had some chances but by god so did they. We look good going forward but sadly we have a championship defence so if luck eludes us in front of goal, we still gift opposition soft goals. Bolton is massive now.
We’ll be there next year. We are only 3 points away from safety and 4 of the big 8 games gone.
But, we will lose the other four, are dire in derby games and hardly impressive against team like Wigan, Bolton , Blackburn etc….
that’s what im worrying about too dazza, but im going to have to have blind faith on this one. MM’s stuck to the same formation and team, we’ve actually been creating chances instead of capitalising on other teams’ weaknesses, and we’re not afraid to attack anymore.
sure things might get a bit gritty and might lose the odd derby game, but we’re looking a much more organised side after playing the top 4.
hope the bolton game tops our glasses up 🙂
We play the next 7 like the previous 3 and we will our points. We won’t be playing superior competition and Doyle is finally going to break through and bag a few goals over that span. Yes, we all know we need more quality on defense but all we can hope for is that Zubar will eventually break though and Mick adds one in January, both which are debatable will happen, but until then we have to survive with what we have and score some goals over the next two months.
Hi John, where where would you propose zubar play?
I dont think it would be fair on foley to be taken off after his performances,… unless he can play LB?
But Im totally with you on doyle…. hes definitely due for some goals. Hope it starts this weekend!
This is from the wolves website…….
“I’ve no idea if Wardy will be fit for Saturday – he’s been carted off with a gashed shin,” added the boss.
“Kevin Doyle thinks he may have broken a bone in his hand while Dave Edwards went off with a slight thigh strain.
bloody hope not.
The 3 points from these 4 games are a bonus. Play like that on saturday and we can get all 3 points against a very good Bolton side. I think we can win if we have our stronges side out.
Anyone know when the England squad is announced? Another good performance by Jarvis.
