Houston, we have lift off.
I have a confession to make – I didn’t go to the match. I wasn’t there when history was made.
But consuming the highlights, the tweets and the insights from my nearest and dearest, there was one consistent message – business as usual.
Ahead early through a set piece and then easing through the gears as and when required.
Rinse and repeat stuff from the victories over Leeds and Fulham.
Job done. Onto the next.
Let’s talk a bit about the set pieces.
For all the silk and sparkle, Wolves are dominating the meat and potato stuff to give themselves a foothold.
In this run of five consecutive victories, they’ve got themselves ahead via a free-kick or a corner on four of those occasions.
That’s no coincidence and underlines that we not only possess the most technically superior players in the league, but also the best drilled.
Ominous signs for anyone thinking of banking up and defending deep.
Things inevitably went south for Bolton pretty quickly after Willy Boly powered in the opener and Bonatini rounded off a slick move involving a sumptuous Neves pass for the second.
Then arrived the standard hatchet job on our best and brightest and the usual kerfuffle on the sidelines.
I for one am glad our bench are up for every decision. The home dugout has been too timid for too long.
And let’s be honest, teams come to disrupt our rhythm by any means necessary and if they want to dish out tough treatment, we should all be howling for the ref to dole out adequate justice.
It probably won’t be the last time Nuno is sent to the stands or the dressing room or wherever he camped out for the second half.
Much like me, he probably didn’t need to see the action with his own eyes to predict the likely outcome.
The goal rush is inevitable when Wolves are in the driving seat and the opposition start pushing.
Jota and Cavaleiro must be the most devastating counterattacking duo we’ve ever had, with the former bringing out the best in the latter.
The team, like those speedsters are sprinting away with it and doling out a clear message to everyone else – catch us if you can.

I was there and you are bang on with your assessment. Brilliant fantastic to what we have been use to. This probably sums up what it is like in the southbank. A guy sits across the aisle from us picks a fight every other game, this season he’s everybody’s mate, a pussycat, long may it continue .The mighty Wolves are we.
We’ll sing on our own
We’ll sing on our own
We are the North Bank/South Bank/Steve Bull
We’ll sing on our own.
What a joy to hear, and be part of, three sides of the ground vying for first place in Wolverhampton’s own ‘Choir of the year’ competition.
Perhaps, if things carry on in the same vein, even The Billy Quiet might chip in with a ditty or two.
I can’t remember Molineux rocking so much since Frank Munro was doing his Willy Boly impression in the centre of the defence.
And what a relief to see Clive get full points in the prediction league for the very first time.
Perhaps he’ll start predicting sensible scores from now on, like 6 or 7 nil.
I certainly chose the right week to spend in Wolverhampton – Nine goals, six points, two hugely entertaining performances, superb Robert Plant gig and a highly enjoyable Bloggers’ mini bash at The Queens Cantonese yesterday in honour of Bedder’s lovely (and long suffering) lady. Give her a hug from us Dave and treat her good ‘cos she’s a belter.
Apart from her opinion of Cavaleiro who is absolutely flying at the moment and looks like a cross between a sidewinder on speed and Bakary Sako on… even more speed.
All topped off with a guest appearance, via the magic of FaceTime, from our man in Houston.
In my opinion the only sad part of yesterday’s treat – is the way the North Bank began emptying five minutes before the final whistle, the Steve Bull and Billy Wright started thinning out soon after, and by the time the players, who had treated us to a veritable cornucopia of fast, flowing football for 94 minutes went round the stands to applaud the support, most of it had left.
Had a few words with John Ruddy’s mum and dad over breakfast this morning. Two very proud parents. Very pleased with safe handling and his ‘assist’. He’s loving it at Wolves, apparently Nuno is working them VERY hard.
Whatever he’s putting them through, it’s paying off.
Wolves are starting to look like an unstoppable force.
I’d hate to be the ‘immovable’ object that tries to get in our way.
It’s not now case of shall we win or shall we not..it’s now by how many..
I’m not at the take for granted stage yet but we are dispensing away with some teams at will..
Bolton was in my mind a potential banana skin but the players obviously thought otherwise..
It’s an unlikely feeling this – that is to expect to win automatically ..after all we are Wolves
fans battered and bruised..
This game overall two amazing goals and I’m almost pleased that Neves is not playing against Blues he’s too valuable to be crocked by that lot..
It’s s pity that the away ticket allocation is inpresume around 3000? We could take 15000 fans with what’s going on with the club.
I’d love to be there..
How can you sum this team up? Yesterday we didn’t get out of second gear and still hammered them 5-1.IF we had been in 5th gear I fear for them. Perhaps Nuno will oil the gears for Blouse. Complacency is the only problem . Went on Small Heath Alliance site earlier and Blouse fan said ‘I am fearing an annialation . Gonna watch from behind the settee’.
What a time to be a Wolf!
The only thing that could’ve gone better this weekend would’ve been Forest taking a point or 3 off Cardiff, but then as I said to my step-dad when we checked the scores, I suppose someone has to finish 2nd, and I don’t really care who it is.
2.3 points a game is a formidable return by anyone’s standards. I’ve taken to touching wood every time I discuss Wolves and the conversation inevitably turns to our promotion prospects. But who am I kidding? Nuno won’t let anyone rest until we achieve our goal, and no dead tree in the world is going to make the slightest bit of difference to that.
I also want to say how happy I am for our favourite prodigal Wolf, 5 for Clive has finally been achieved. I suspect it won’t be the last cricket score of the season.
WHAT A TIME TO BE A WOLF!!!
So this is what it feels like to be a Barcelona fan
Completely agree with your comments about the Wolves bench. Some high profile commentators have suggested Nuno should curb his passion on the touchline but I disagree. He is practically the perfect coach and his competitiveness is part who he is. Great days to be a wolves fan..we could go all the way..Hi hi Wolverhampton!
The beauty of Wolves at this time is that we are no longer a collection of individuals, as we have so often been in the past. We are real TEAM.
Yes, we have hugely talented players all over the park, who continually amaze and delight with their respective pace, ball skills, and dribbling abilities etc.. But far more importantly, we have no weak links. — anywhere. We operate as a complete unit — a well oiled machine. Everyone fully understands his role, and has the absolute ability to carry it out. There is no selfish individuality. Every member of this side readily assists all others as and when necessary. The unbelievable team spirit, and the confidence which goes with it, is continually on display — and this more than any other factor is surely why we will succeed.
This is entirely down to the quality of the coach. Thank you Nuno.
Last season to this, rags to riches, like Cinders Wolves are finally fully made over to go to the ball!
It’s almost surreal witnessing this surge, & absolute transformation. I check my scarf to be sure it’s the same colours as those gold & black clad Princes on the pitch.
Too many incredible moments from yesterday’s & Wednesdays games to
wax poetical about. But two Jota incidents convinced me that this guy is Superman disguised as a Wolves player.
I just have never seen a better footballer than this guy. How he keeps the ball, runs with it, belies his smallish stature. Yesterday he was on the floor & kept the ball for us with a part of his thigh.
A run after the ball, chasing down one of their Frankenstein like centre backs he was pushed in the face, but he still got to the ball & inevitably got a foul against him as he, in the refs opinion, fouled the monster!
Finally we’ve got a left back with as sweet a left foot as Nureyev, Douglas’s goal on Wednesday night. Awesome, his two set pieces against Fulham, & then his inswinging corner for Billy’s opener yesterday. There are just no passengers in this side.
In his dour , matter of fact interview after the Leeds game Douglas put it well “we’ve just got quality all over the pitch”.
This is dream time at Molineux. You can never say never, and inevitably there will be black holes & ugly sisters along the way. But we can at least say we’re on target, so far, for a play off spot.
Special mention as well for the Steve Daley interview with the excellent John McAlle at H-T. It was brilliant, McAlle said to his first question “If I could understand what you’ve just said I’d be able to answer you!”. He was great value, & good to see these ex greats back down the really Golden Palace.
I’ve been watching the Wolves 1st team since 1958 (my Dad lifted me over the turnstiles for 3d to take me to Reserves matches before that). In all that time I’ve only seen two players whose skills compare to the current crop: Peter Broadbent and Peter Knowles. We’ve had goalscorers and cult heroes: Bully, Waggy, the Doog, Andy Gray, Kenny Hibbit, John Richards etc, but now we have a team x 2 with some exceptional footballers. Putting a bet on this group of footballers, plus judicious additions, to be competing in the Champions League 2019-20 isn’t the most stupid bet you could make.
This team really are a joy to behold. The creative moves, the slick finishing. I’m relishing the opportunity of seeing more of the same with us in the Premier league next season.
We have Fosun and Nuno to thank for it all .When things start not going to plan which will happen one day let us all recall this truly joyous time in our lives to be a wolf .
Got to agree with cheeseburger in the fact we’re putting these teams to the sword and seemingly not even getting into second gear
Maybe it’s just the way it looks to people that have never played at that level
On the subject of which ..
We have a family member who has played close to that level and I have been at a family gathering with him today . He can’t find the words to explain to me how good Neves is .
cheers London mate.nice one
Another fantastic performance and a joy to watch, playing some beautiful filthy football. Everyone in the crowd now has smiles on there faces from start to finish. It is so lovely to be a part of all this, each Monday morning is great yet again walking into work with so much pride. My 5 year old boy who has had a season ticket for the first time is absolutely loving it, in fact he was ill the other day and was sent home from school his mum got him all comfortable on the sofa and asked him if he wanted to watch a film his answer was “Can you put the Wolves Vs Villa game on please Mummy as I want to watch it again!” Thankyou Fosun and Nuno for what you have done to this club it is pure excellence. Onwards and upwards to the premier we are bound. Pure class. Wolves Ay We!
After watching the Leeds and Bolton annihilations, a thought comes to mind. I know we are looking at signings for the January window, but for me, it’s hard to see a weak link that really needs strengthening. We have real quality all over the pitch, and the subs bench, and even those who don’t make it that far, seem to slot seamlessly into the team. Back-up striker, perhaps, should Leo get crocked, but where else?? With the likes of Connor Ronan, Morgan Gibbs White, Kortney Hause et al nowhere near the team, do we actually need reinforcements?
Once promotion is secured then yes, splash the cash. But if we can’t get promoted with what we already have on the books I’ll eat my hat.
Good to see so many fellow bloggers in the NBB pre match. I’m sure you enjoyed your afternoon as much as I.
Finally, well done John Ruddy for superbly spotting and then executing the inch perfect pass to Diogo for the last goal. We do indeed have goal threats all over the pitch
What about at right back,i know we ve got that Ayhe guy , but he hasnt kicked a ball yet ,so may be we could do with some more cover there perhaps
Fair point London, but I understand that Ofosu-Ayeh is almost ready to enter the fray so hopefully we’ll know what he can do by the time the window opens.
I noted with interest the comments from Steve Daley on Saturday about John McAlle. He said he was a quiet man until he crossed the white line.
I think this could also be apportioned to Nuno!
Every interview he is concise, composed and quietly spoken – then when he gets in the technical area, he’s as passionate a wolf as i’ve ever seen.
For too long we’ve had “nice” or “emotionless” coaches/managers, some that couldn’t give any authority when being interviewed or gave weak excuses for a dire performance – this time I truly believe we have “the messiah” – and there’s no way he’s “a very naughty boy”.
I can’t seem to shift the stupid grin plastered across my face lately. It’s making my face ache, so unused am I to the sensation.
I was annoying my villa supporting mate last night when I suddenly realised that and old maxim some of us use when facing ‘big’ teams, was; whatever Wolves do “don’t score and upset ’em else they’ll annihilate us”. I realised at that moment and remembering that Bolton made the same foolish error, that WE are that big team now. It’s WOLVES that you don’t wanna upset.
I mean, how bloody brilliant is that? That in six months Nuno and his backroom boys have organised a team that I’m convinced could already upset some of the big time charlies currently occupying our rightful place in the premier. I truly believe it.
If I was a blue nose I think I’d go shopping with the missus next Monday, maybe take her for a meal…nice Micky D’s for Christmas…yeah, be a nice treat for the girl, that.
UTW
Carl,
This is all for you.
Still our number 1
Total transformation!
Since the sacking of Mick McCarthy, and the whole debacle of colossal f**k ups that ensued thereafter, I’d been pretty depressed about the Wolves until the Fosun takeover. The often negative and desperate comments I shared here back then, even prompted someone to tell me to leave this blog once; a comment I didn’t take personally because I knew I was in a pretty dark place about the Wolves. I’d never stop supporting them, but what Moxey and Morgan were doing to the club just made me ashamed, embarrassed and cross. Because I knew it didn’t have to be that way.
Total transformation!
I remember when Man City graced the Championship in the Dave Jones era and watching them go up and get bought and never look back, and I thought why couldn’t the same thing happen to Wolves? Instead we had a couple of con-artists grinding the club into the ground and I knew that it didn’t have to be that way.
Total transformation!
And then Fosun came along out of the blue. And it’s like they had the exact same vision and ambition I had for the Wolves: gut the whole team, find the right manager, build a team around him and become world class. I cannot express enough gratitude to Mr Shi and Fosun for what they have done for the club, how they restored our respect and our pride. Before this team we barely had a single player I considered Premier League worthy. Now almost every single one is!
Total transformation!
I think Wolves can start thinking beyond the Championship already. Come January, they should only buy players with competing in the Premier League in mind. We already have a team that can get us out of this division. Any additions now, in any dept, should be of top 10 EPL calibre. This is happening lads. It is not a false dawn. We have the right owners, the right leadership and the right team.
The giant is finally truly awakened.
Total transformation!
Proud to be Wolves!
GW
To be absolutely fair to Morgan at least he sold us to a brilliant owner instead of just anyone from China (like Villa and WBA!). I thought that about the dodgy jailed Thai bloke that used to own Man City, at least he found the right new owner for them.
I think that was a fluke. Morgan is a tosser and would not care who he sold the club to as long as he got a profit. We have been fortunate and it is now paying massive dividends, but I am not going to give Morgan any credit for this.
Hear, hear to that Mr Brompton. Morgan was a money-grabbing little so and so whose sole interest was lining his own pocket and raising his own profile all of which he did at the expense of our beloved club.
Total transformation of course. Ironic though that the the Sheikh Mansour consortium looked at Wolve before Man City all those years ago. I have no idea how close was the decision to go for City. Would it have been a good thing that we became the so-called plastic club instead of City? We might be playing today in a stadium named after an airline. No, I’m happier with Fosun as owners. They understand our history and want to recreate it, rather than reinvent us. On the other hand, to have avoided all that pain we suffered with Moxey….
GoWolves
He who laughs in a bush, laughs the longest with three in a bush. We have all said things on this blog then had a few tell us to go forth and multiply, nature of the beast (wolf) welcome back, you are a prime example of what our badge is about.
Out of your darkness you’ve come into the light.
Nice post mate, sums up my 56 years of frustration and I am sure many of our fellow blogger too..
Thanks StuWolf. Btw, when are you and Clive planning on terrorizing the beach babes of southern California? I thought you had a road trip planned. Let me know when … meet you both for a few pints somewhere!
GW
If it comes off we shall contact you and thatsounds like a plan, but my Grandchildren have now told me I’m taking them to Disney in Florida in August 18, but the road trip will definitely happen after that.
True. I’ll begrudgingly give Morgan that credit. 🙂
Credi (LOL) Probably Fosun would give that b—–d 30 mill more than anyone else.
There is apparently an agreement in place for Morgan to get another £15mil if we are promoted, but I’m not sure how long a time frame is specified. Morgan has said he will donate the money to charity. We shall see.
Dances,
Just been checking on companies house!
He’s set up “The Morgan Retirement Foundation” specifically set up to give help & assistance to any Scouse, Red-faced arseholes that cannot find there own & need them wiping!
I walked into my local on Saturday night and a blues supporter said shut up we know you are F**in top of the league before I even opened my mouth.
As with Thomas confession time this was my first visit to the palace this year along with Border Wolf and we both agreed that the atmosphere was the best we had ever experienced, god knows what we will do to a team if Nuno ever takes the hand break off this lot. Absolute filth played by us and so wonderful to behold.
You may not believe this but I predicted to some mates in the village in September that we would win this league at a canter. They wanted me certified, now they believe me.
On another note sorry we could not find any of you in The NBB could hardly move anyway.
Onwards & Upwards
Light weight, I was looking forward to talking to you and Borderwolf, also her hubby who I know he doesn’t support a decent team but a really nice bloke all the same.
He enjoyed the match but was grumpy when his result came through! I told him to start supporting a decent team!
Interesting reading on the E&S Website, regarding arrests made at Midlands Clubs’ grounds.
Apparently:_
“At Albion, the most common offence was causing ‘harassment, alarm or distress’, where 12 arrests were made under section 5 of the Pubic Order Act 1986.”
They neglected to say that all offences were committed on the pitch.
…And in the same game.
…And by people wearing blue and white kit.
You forgot GBH.
Just picking up on the thread of signings, the most important ones should be getting Jota, Bonatini et al in on permanent contracts. They would be the best January signings for me. Fingers crossed Fosun have already exercised the option to buy clauses!
If the deals are already agreed upon, what difference does it make?
I’d rather them get in new players if needed and then, when Premier League money is guaranteed, they can get these guys signed.
Linden.
I remember last season we were jumping through hoops and waxing lyrical over Costa, he was the stand out performer and held the fan base sane through the Jackett Lambert error.
Well Linden, all I can say buddy, “ the way Jeff Shi was talking this week, it’s a case of hang onto your foggin hats boys and girls”
Are we even going to be singing about half of these players come May, or will he be transfoming this side again into something even better.
Me, I’m sure we are in for some more treats.
Well, that’s Bedder’s Christmas present sorted.
A new book – Living my dream by Dave Edwards.
I thought that if he had a table with one leg shorter than the other, or needed some kindling for the fire, it might come in handy.
Don’t tell him though, I want it to be a surprise.
You are a very cheeky monkey Mr DOOGooder!
Hopefully a special signed first edition?
I actually have one of those nice ornate garden fire-pits that hasn’t seen much action since February though I am a bit worried that it might be a very short book as the only dream he ever had was that time he dreamed he was a footballer but then woke up and realised he wasn’t. Not sure it’s worth the aggro of getting the fire-pit ready for action if the fire is only going to last less than 60 seconds. Talking of lasting less than 60 seconds……………oh no that’s another story.
p.s. If I am not allowed to use the term ‘cheeky monkey’ in these ‘enightened’ days then you are a very cheeky non-gender specific, animal of indeterminate origin and sexual persuasion.
p.p.s. tell me where you sit at Molineux and the next time I sneak out before the final whistle I will give you a wave.
OODCL
Great weekend, result and performance.
Mrs BW accompanied me to Molineux for the first time since May 2010 – we won then as well – so she may have to be our good luck charm from now on. Not that we need luck of course as we are sublime, exquisite, beautiful, wondrous etc etc.
Thank you to Mike & Lillian (Twixfix & Mrs), Ian & Sue (Newark Wolves), Mark & Sue (DOOGooder & Mrs), Stu & Jen (Stuwolf & Mrs), Dougie & Barbara (Exiled Wolf & Mrs) and Steve (Brompton) for their brilliant company at the Queens restaurant on Saturday night. Even the Yankee interloper didn’t dampen our spirits. Who was that bloke? My good lady now knows who I am talking about when I bang on about any of you lot and she is already looking forward to the 2018 Blogger’s Ball Bash wherever and whenever that may be (Saturday 28 April at The Novotel?). Particular thanks to Ian (Newark) for arranging it and despite Jeff Shi’s no show it was still an excellent choice. Maybe next time we go for that Tandoori restaurant on the Penn Road?
Apologies to Barry & Shaun (Witley & Son), Matt (London Wolves Loyal) and anyone else who was in the North Bank Bar before the game expecting to see us as timings went out of the window and we only just made it to our seats as the teams were coming out onto the pitch. The taxi from The Mount Hotel arrived a good 20 minutes later than it was booked for.
I am delighted to say as well that my 5-1 prediction proved spot on for once. All I need now is for Thomas to find my ‘missing’ 4 predictions and I might be shooting up that Prediction League! Thomas?
5-1, and let’s be honest here, it could have been 6-1 or 7-1 or even 8-1 but 5-1 was sufficient. My dear old Uncle Reg would have been proud and was no doubt asking everyone up there with him if they wanted to see him kiss his own bottom.

p,s, BOG and I are trying to sort our Sunderland accommodation this week for May 5/6 2018.
Bedders, Exile Wolf & Doog,
We have booked our hotels for the Saturday night of the Sunderland game in May (Mike, Lilian Jenny, me and my son and girlfriend. (His not mine)
So get your arse in gear before they all go. Now that may be some cause to get on the Vodka’s
Sorted Stu. We have booked for Saturday and Sunday.
It’s coming together, Jen’s getting a posh frock and I’m buying some bigger drinking trousers.
Sorted Stu, Twixfix booked us a room at the same time as you guys (thanks Mike) so we will be there. I am going dressed as a fat kid and Susan as Toyah – oh, I wish 😉
No apology required old son, love to have met misses, maybe next time .
Thanks Bedders. A great afternoon at the Mol, capped by a lovely evening. It was really good to catch up with everyone and to finally meet Mrs BW.
I also got the score right; good things keep on coming.
I used to wonder what it was like to support a team that won just about every week. Clubs like Man U under Ferguson, Celtic and Man City now. Would I have found it boring? Answer: absolutely no.
It’s the best feeling ever. I sit relaxed in the knowledge we’ll almost certainly win, the only question by how many? Probably, I think, by three or four. So good for the blood pressure.
15/16 – seeing a Wolves goal was a treat. The highest (Wolves) scoring home match I went to was tied between Derby and Sheff Wed (both 2-1).
16/17 – seeing a Wolves goal at both ends was a special treat. A goal at the South Bank end, near me, was enough to make me smile for the following week. I remember going mental when Dicko scored against Blouse to make it 1-2.
17/18 – not sure what to say! I’m living in dreamland. So far this season I’ve only seen us drop points once! Wolves – you are spoiling me.
Smug.
That has been me all weekend!
The most famous and anticipated prediction of all time finally comes good!
First time, I think, since we beat Forest by the same score in 2008, which was a hurricane year for Houston as well as this year.
So, keep an eye on the weather channel, folks, if a storm is brewing over here, you know one will be brewing over the Mol!!
Missed the first half due to contractors all over the house, but the second half was worth every penny.
Question.
Why wasn’t the bloke who tripped Cav for the penalty sent off?
Little known fact.
Man. City’s games are never on the same day as Wolves.
This is because Pep has to watch all of our matches to get ideas on how to improve his side, by copying Nuno.
Watch Pep get sent off during their next game!
Comparing us to them is ridiculous. We have a squad playing as a team, as stated above, and their lot are a bunch of whiny assed prima donnas.
Sterling is the worst, mincing all over the pitch, diving for penalties, and “scoring” the winner yesterday when the ball bounced off his left tit!
What an example of what we don’t want to be.
I have to hold up my hands, as everyone else is doing, to acknowledge the fabulous work being done by Nuno et al.
Extremely proud to be a Wolves fan always, but this season, just that bit prouder.
FOwb
I knew that this was going to be a good weekend when we got from Newark to Wolverhampton in less than 2 hours and in the pouring rain. Like others have said, it could have been more than 5 but I actually said to Sue at 5-1 that I was pleased for Clive. It shows how far we have come when, with Bolton chasing the game and looking for a goal they bring on Adam Le Fondre – which is what we were doing not that long ago.
Really enjoyed the evening also. Really nice to catch up with fellow bloggers and wives, some for the first time, and I hope the venue was okay for you all as Sue and I love the place but what one person likes isn’t always the same for someone else. On a personal note, thank you to every one of you for your kind words regarding our sad news from Friday.
Finally, I would like to say thank you to Jeff Shi (who spent the evening disguised as a waitress) for taking the attached photo – and you lot thought he hadn’t turned up !
Can’t wait for our next game as this IS the year. There is more chance of a Wolverhampton taxi turning up on time than there is of us missing out on promotion.
See you all soon
Ian & Sue
Great photo Ian (Jeff) though I did notice what appears to be big red shadowy thing coming down between the DOOGooder and his lovely lady. Now I don’t want to be a prophet of doom or anything but does anyone remember The Omen and the way photographs showed what appeared to be a big long shadowy thing even though there wasn’t one? Cue the music from those Old Spice adverts from yester-year. 😉
The Old Spice music came from Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana (one of my fave’s). It was also used in the film Excalibur.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=t6Hp2WANepc
Big long red dangly thing coming between me and my wife?
I’ll not have talk like that on the blog.
Wash your mouth out sir!
I think the technical term for it is a foible.
Forgot to say that at The Mount myself and Mrs BW, Twixfix and Mrs Twixfix and Newark Wolves were joined at breakfast by Diogo Jota, Ruben Neves and Ruben Vinagre. You don’t get THAT at the APV!
What do you mean I’m making it up! Listen if that Chinese waitress was really Jeff Shi in disguise then I’m having it that our waiters and waitresses were Diogo, Ruben and Ruben.
Anyway just off to brush up on my Tees-side accent as me and BOG are now booked in to the Sunderland Hilton (that doesn’t sound at all right does it – the words ‘Sunderland’ and ‘Hilton’ in the same sentence – for May 5/6 2018. As befits tradition for the last day away game party we will be in fancy dress. BOG is going as Benito Mussolini in an homage to his new Italian wife and I am going as Dave Edwards.
OODCL
What another fantastic result ,
Great to see us scoring so many goal of late ,can’t remember when we last score 5 at home.It should’ve been a clean sheet imo their player went in two footed to score their goal so it should’ve been a free kick to us.
Blouses up next, who’s gonna stop this Unstoppable juggernaut it just gets better and better.UTW. Glad to see Clive got it right for once.
The atmosphere in the stadium was amazing, the noise was unbelievable and the team were outstanding. I agree with Cheeseburger that they didn’t get out of 2nd gear all afternoon, we could have had 6 or 7 really. What they’ll do in top gear I dread to think!
I came out frozen solid but with a grin a mile wide!
Sorry we didn’t see any other bloggers in the bar, maybe next time.
As you walk up to the bar Border, head for the right side in the vicinity of the door for the gent’s loo. That’s where you’ll generally find us.
Ok thanks for that, will head that way next time & find you all.
For anyone reading the messages about Sunderland above, some of us bloggers are looking at going up for the last match of the season in anticipation of our team maintaining this level of Samba footy and taking us to the EPL.
Our plan was to get a hotel somewhere in Sunderland.
Well lo and behold there is a Hilton of all places attached to the ground itself, £67 per room £79 if you have breakfast, there is also a free for residents carpark on site, (it just keeps getting better) Anyone who has used the Hiltons will know it’s a bloody good breakfast and as it’s a 12-30 kick off this is the dogs botox of solutions. There’s an added bonus of, as we are not driving up that day and we are already at the ground, we can have a few sherbets the night before, well actually, more than a few.
This was just an idea between Twix and I due to the rediculous journey and kick off timing, it has grown now, any of you are more than welcome to join in with us.
The hotel is:- “The Hilton Garden in Sunderland”
Are we still having a get together at the last home game Stu? Sunderland’s a bit of a jaunt for me from down yer.
I think everyone is still keen to have a blog bash, I think the venue is the issue.
Is there nowhere at the Mol??
Waiting to speak to Lorry Van Pimple
What about the Novotel? Apparently they have a function room and it is central – and they do the Wolves Deal for rooms etc?
Or The Mount has a fabulous function room – might be pricey though as it is top notch and might already be booked up for weddings etc.
Molineux would be good somewhere. They have plenty of rooms. Mind you we’d have to behave ourselves if we went there.
Invited guests? Phil Parkes? Kenny Hibbitt? Micky Stowell? Matt Murray? Steve Bull? Andy Mutch? Nuno? Jeff Shi? Jez Moxey? (only joking)
Will there be space for a quiz? lol
Saturday 28 April? After the Sheff Wed game – or before it if it gets moved to the Sunday like it may well be. Nightmare would be if it is switched to 530pm on the Saturday.
1-2-3-4 Oh, oh, oh, Ivan Cavaleiro, oh, oh, oh, Dances round defenders, oh, oh, oh, Never gives the ball away-ay, 2-3-4…………………
You should organise it mate, thereby ensuring you make a confirmed time slot for your quiz lol.
Wherever it is being held …….. I’m in.
Shaun and I are up for it.
No I think you have got the monopoly on that due to your military precision timings and organisation. You and StuWolf together. All we need is someone to second you…………..
Can’t mate. Not allowed. It is against the rules to do more than one.
Would be great if we could get Thomas (and Ben) to come. As we only get together because of this blog.
That should have read, “Hilton Garden Inn, Sunderland”
Bleedin predictive text.
Another excellent result, I’m still shocked how well we are playing
Isn’t it great to see the mol nearly full, the way it’s going they will have to think about phase 2 of redevelopment, they might have to have a rethink once Barcelona, Madrid,Milan come here in the champions league
This is good. I’ve come across an article from the old pink ‘Soccer Star’ some years ago (sadly missed), really kept it for my family history files. ‘Remember 1895-96’. is the headline.
But lo and behold, we were better then – we beat Bolton 5-0 at Molineux, and in January 1896 we ‘smashed’ Small Heath (Birmingham City) 7-2. Maybe one for the prediction league next week ?
We also got to the Cup Final, losing 2-1 to Sheffield Wednesday. Unlikely this year – playing them in the final I mean – we’re 66-1 to win the F A Cup this year – must be value there.
What a season, getting better all the time.
This is what OUR success means to some folk……
Jumping on the gravy train springs to mind, what a feckin cheek this bloke has got.

Does it not occur to the self centred knob that we did not want him? His arrogance knows no bounds, obnoxious twat!
Nor his levels of Bullshit. He’s now stating, “ we are the best team in the league at present and they won’t catch us, as we will probably spend £20 million in January”. I hope he’s right on that one.
Do you and Mrs Lowves fancy coming up to Sunderland with us all the night before?
We are driving up on the Sat for a couple of days, but we have arranged to meet some friends we made on a cruise earlier in the year, on the Saturday night, in Newcastle. Could meet for a drink, before the game? Probably see you at brummagem.
No it’s ok, just thought you may want to celebrate in style, but it seems you already are, good man.
We will be at Brum and so should see you both.
🙂
The news just keeps getting better and better. Golden in fact. At one point last season under Lame-bet the one saving grace was Helder Costa. Costa looked the once-in-a-generation star player, a Broadbent, a Knowles. Almost inevitably he would sign for a PL club and that would be that. Fast forward to this season and it is arguable that Costa has been overshadowed by even better players.
It’s almost like that old question and answer with John Lennon: Is Ringo the best drummer in the world? He’s not even the best drummer in the Beatles. Last season Costa was the best player in the Championship. This season he’s not even the best player at Wolves. Happy days.
BREAKING NEWS : Tony Pulis discovered still at the WBA training ground. Sources say he is having difficulty leaving as he can only go sideways and backwards.
The only thing funnier than Tiny Penis being kicked out of the Albion is that his replacement is still rumoured to be Alan pardew…
This season is like Christmas every day so far.
Superb ay it. Pardew Another sacking by April. Loff ay it.
Onwards & Upwards
That’s all
🙂
Sheffield United have stated that “Birmingham was the best support they have seen this season.” Wait till 3rd Feb, they will find out what support is all about!
Birmingham Mail reports the Sandwell Unwashed responded to West Bromwich Albion we’re coming for you with Wolverhampton Wanderers we’re waiting for you at Wembley Saturday. Gotta feeling next time we cross swords it could be VERY VERY tasty. Bring the inbred ARSE holes on I say.
Does anyone know when the agreement with The Money Shop ends and that logo comes off the replica jerseys? April 2019, from what I gather (3 year deal).
Don’t know Tim. Given a choice (not including brands already sponsoring clubs) whose logo would you like to see on a Wolves shirt? Maybe the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank of China (HSBC) might be appropriate.
How about “MARS” our football is on a different planet!
After my fab week in Wolverhampton I had a fab evening in Bath.
Went to a book launch by Dave Hill of Slade. A really entertaining evening.
I remember seeing him, tottering round Wolverhampton all covered in glitter and on 83″ heels, back in the day.
I think Dave wore some pretty outrageous outfits too.
All things taken into consideration DG, he really ain’t changed a bit.
Great photo DOOG …. he used to walk into Beatties dressed just the same …of course, apart from being well known in Wolverhampton, it turned a few heads too.
I saw him many a time at the Civic Hall and the dance place next to the Market (can’t remember the name) when he was in the N’Betweens.
Like watching the Wolves …. “ we’re all crazeee now” …
Twix,
Was it the Woolpack??
You’re bang on Cannock Wolf… I just couldn’t think of the Name.
Bit dippy considering I used to work behind the bar on a Sat evening…
I’m a great fan of Dave Hill he was always very friendly even when he became famous with slade, matter of fact they all were a great bunch of lads
I remember watching them when they became Ambrose Slade back in the day at the Ship & Rainbow
Dudley Road wolves.
He never forgot his roots.
DOOGie – well take me bak home mama if we aren’t all crazee now. Why? Coz even though we are far, far away we can still feel the noyze and my friend Stan and I luv yoo.
Used to like Slade back in the day and actually saw them live in London in about 1973 I think.
By the way Thomas, I like your sub-heading to this blog: Houston, we have lift off.
A few unhappier times in the past I’ve used the opposite. Houston, we have a problem.
How times change. I’m looking forward to a few more 5-1 type scores. 5-1 to us at the Hawthorns would be the icing on the cake.
I guess the only thing that can stop us now (its no longer ‘early days’ – we’re almost half-way through the season) is complacency/over-confidence. Whilst we may have seen indications of it in Coady’s early error and Bennett’s poor pass (for Bolton’s goal) the professionalism of Nuno and his staff will surely not allow it to develop. Bit of a stroll in the park this one which (yet another) poor refereeing performance did not put in doubt, but it really is time that Jota was given a semblance of some protection from overly-physical defending.
Agree with Jonnok above. Think Neves was badly fouled before their goal, although have to say it was a crap pass to him from Bennett. Pity we couldn’t see Nuno’s reaction.
Call it 5-0, shall we?
Nnnnoooooo!!!!!!!
You cannot take away my fifteen seconds of fame!!
I shall have to call Clive this evening, now he`s on a correct prediction roll, he can (for one week only) pick my national lottery numbers, if he can win me more than the £7.00 I collected this week I`ll be happy.
Apart from the entertainment value of nine goals in two home games, the quality of football, as other bloggers have said, is of the highest quality. Really enjoyed the train journey home to Notttingham after the game, just a bit disappointed that having told my daughter in law that I really did want Forest to win on Sunday (first time for everything), they let me down.
Can`t get to Brum on Monday but will be watching Sky for the next instalment of this amazing and incredible season. Happy days.
Everyone seems to be in raptures about the result on Saturday — except me!!
Apart from the last 20 minutes I thought that it was a pretty sloppy display which was exemplified by Willy Boly giving the ball away at least 5 times in the first 20 minutes whilst under no pressure. Add to that the very poor early defending by Coady and the general sloppiness of pretty well everybody in defence for Bolton’s goal then I think that Nuno will be issuing some well deserved bollockings this week. I accept that we didn’t need to get out of 2nd gear to beat Bolton but we will come up against some much better teams in the next couple of months and our attitude needs to improve or we will be on the receiving end of some nasty results.
We are still (by miles) the best team in this division but complacency could be our undoing.
Not trying to put a damper on all this euphoria – just offering a note of caution.
OODCL
Our greatest opponent this season is not Cardiff, Sheff U, Boro etc., it’s complacency. We can and will walk this league by a (Black) country mile, if we can stay focused.
See your point, Cannock. It certainly wasn’t our best performance of the season, but some of the goals showed what we are about and not many in this division can stop us when we are going forward.
There are still them who wish to complain.
Five wins on the bounce
Fifteen goals scored, two conceded.
Four points clear at the top of the table.
Fifteen different goalscorers
The finest, most sublime football seen at The Molineux for over forty years.
An owner who has put it on record that the aim is Champuons League success, and money is no object.
A manager made in whatever heaven you believe in, who insists that everyone is part of the Wolf Pack, fans most of all.
A million fans worldwide with shit eating grins.
Expectation rather than hope every kick off.
What more could they fuckin’ want?
Not complaining Clive – just pointing out that (IMO) Saturdays performance was way below the very high standards that we have set for ourselves. We got away with it because Notlob were so poor but I think that we need to avoid complacency.
This team is (along with the 1970 – 74 team) the best that I have seen in over 50 years of following our beloved club but this division can bite you on the arse very quickly it you drop your guard.
Not a whinge – just an observation.

Sorry Stu sent it to you instead of DooGooder.
I’m sure he’ll pick it up.
Just been chatting to a Birmingham City fan I know in Bedford and he is going to the game on Monday night. In his own words ……”wonder how many you’ll stuff us by? you are on a different planet to everyone else and will walk the league this season”.
OODCL
hmmm cannock does have a point … BUT it will not have gone unnoticed by NUNO and his superb staff that a few did get a tad sloppy at times and i have no problem thinking he will have had words in the right ears and with his incredible man management sorted any complacency out .
I also believe we will be a lot tighter against the noses on Monday and although we will undoubtedly win we could be back to the odd goal in it.
But then again we may just smash the shite out of them which i would much rather see.
I took my trusty video camera with me on our recent trip to Wolverhampton.
As ever, I missed all the goals but managed to film some endangered species in their native habitat.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAgQFB61Se4
Excellent Doogle, but who was that ugly bugger on Stu’s phone??
Great video Mark. Do you use a filter on your camera or do I really look that young ?
He uses a filter.
?????
A triple filter so he tells me.
You film like a pro Doog , you should have done it for a living, Lol Xxx
Re comments regarding defensive frailties at the start of the Bolton game. Apologies if this upsets anyone but please don’t fall into the trap of believing that the minimum performance benchmark in our new world should be 0 per cent misplaced passes. If we have already moved to a state of mind where an overall game can be considered below par despite scoring five magnificent goals, then we may as well give up. Because otherwise we are on the way to joining the despicable bourgeois prawn sandwich elite of Old Trafford or the Emirates. Each of us has a choice, we can either allow ourselves to focus on the positives of the wonderful unbelievable panorama that continues to unfold before our eyes. Or prefer to maintain our own personal hell by focusing on a mis-placed pass, a missed tackle or a mis-judged decision to take on a man instead of passing. Time to move out of the darkness and into the light. The Bolton game has been filed forever in my mind as containing just one pass from Neves.
I’m with you on that one JackoMac.
We seem to be getting near the stage where a player can pass the ball even without looking and know that the intended recipient will be in the perfect position to receive it.
It doesn’t work every time but it looks bloody impressive when it does!
And the more they do it, the better they’ll become.
Doherty and Cavaleiro are prime examples of this.
I’ll allow them the odd blooper.
I agree. I read some reports in the E and S and the writer seems to think that if someone makes a long pass and it does not connect, they should deduct a point from their player rating.
Life and sports are not perfect.
Well this football malarkey is quite good isn’t it? Fresh from seeing our 5-1 demolition of Notlob on Saturday tonight Mrs BW and I and son Steve – they are both Gooners – were at The Emirates for the Arse’s 5-0 thrashing of Huddersfield. Mrs BW will now expect 5 from ‘our’ team every game at this rate. She might be right!
Can’t wait till we are there next season. Have been to three games there this season and seen Brighton, Swansea and Huddersfield all of whom we would wipe the floor with on current form. As for the Arse – they are good but I reckon we’d take ‘em.
OODCL
There are a shed load of empty seats in your picture Bedders.
Was it taken five minutes before the end?
LOL – no it was just before kick off but I think many people hadn’t quite finished scoffing their prawn sandwiches or quaffing their Prosecco (JackoMac – I can’t speak for Old Trafford but at Arsenal the usual pre-match refreshments are more likely to be burger and chips washed down by several pints of something golden and alcoholic).
Actually DOOGie it has become a bit of a thing down there this season. In response to the numerous Islamist terror attacks on London security at the stadium has been ramped up to unprecedented levels and even arriving half hour before kick off doesn’t guarantee you will be in your seat by kick-off. I must have had three ‘pat down’ body searches done on me.
p.s. we DID leave 5 minutes before the end though – oops why did I have to say that?
OODCL
p.p.s. In case people don’t know the longstanding Arsenal anti-Tottenham ‘chant’, usually shouted out by one person and they responded to by the masses and usually as you leave the stadium or are queuing for the underground;
What do you think of Tottenham?
A Sh*t
What do you think of sh*t?
A Tottenham
Thank you very much.
A That’s alright.
I’m all for security checks.
I don’t mind being patted down by a big hunk in a hi viz jacket.
I expect we’ll be having to get used to it at Molineux as crowds (and stadium hopefully) increase in size.
It still beats me though how, in spite of all these precautions, you see so many flares being let off in grounds nowadays.
It’s a bit of a worry.
I was told by a steward that they are smuggled in by the loonies kids, apparently they are not allowed to search children.
What is the world coming to? They could be bombs!
They have scanners similar to airports at some stadia that I’ve been to over here, plus any bags, purses etc are searched.
It does not seem to slow down entry too much, and it is not an inconvenience, rather the opposite, knowing the chances of problems is much less.
Everyone knows about the security checks and adjusts their arrival time accordingly.
They knew Bedders was coming, and didnt want to risk upsetting his famous short fuse, and have him burst into uncontrollable “Oh Oh Oh Ivan Cavalero Oh Oh Oh” all match.
Got me singing it all day now as well, one of them wot gets in yer ‘ed and yow cor get rid, ay it?
Ivan Cavalero Oh Oh Oh
Famous short fuse? Me?!?! How VERY dare you!!!!!!!
Just a question for everyone
Do you think the owners will stick to the original redevelopment plans at molineux or draw up new ones, they must be speaking to contractors about it now, also how many do you think we will bring every week when we are a established prem club?
Paulcooks leftleg.
I can tell you 100% that they have all but thrown away the previous idea that already has planning and have had a team in designing new ideas. They even went as far as discussing leaving the Southbank as one level which is away from the two tier look all round the ground. They want to keep the atmoshpere that exists in the Southbank and are prepared to factor it in. They even asked fans if they thought they (the Wolves) should be looking at capacity above 40,000 +
This is not hearsay, Jeff Shi, Laurie Dalrymple and others inside the ground have mentioned snippets in the press. The Steve Bull needs urgent attantion whatever happens, i was in a box there at the home game against Blues last year and it looked fine, but apparently, it’s out dated and needs doing.
Stu – we were in the Steve Bull lower for the Bolton game, the first time I’d been in that stand for about 6 years I think, and compared to the North Bank the facilities are very poor. The concourse is tiny and cramped with a low ceiling, getting a cup of anything hot at half-time took the entirety of the half-time break, the toilets are like something out of Oliver Twist and the seats are uncomfortable and very closely packed together giving very little leg room. Even for someone with very little legs! Back in 1979 when it was built it would have been fine but not 38 years later as things, and people’s expectations, have moved on.
Yes, as O say, “I was in a box”, so the corperate probably gained luxury at the the away fans expense. But the Steve Bull is the first thing they must put right.
Thanks for that, but surley they will just carry the Steve bull stand on from the north bank or it will look odd, it will be very interesting.
