It’ll always be difficult to reflect on this season without thinking ‘what if?’.

What if we’d just kept things a bit tighter in that difficult November?
What if we’d not thrown away that three goal lead at Millwall?
What if Scott Golbourne had just put the ball in the stand at St. Andrew’s?
What if we’d beaten Ipswich? Or drew at Middlesbrough?
What if? What if? What if?
Opinions will vary about where that extra point or those handful of goals could have been gained, but it’s a fruitless exercise.
As many have pointed out, every team can cite stumbles over their own 46 game journey.
So a more pertinent question we should perhaps spend the coming weeks focusing on is ‘what now?’.
What must be done in the summer months to ensure this burgeoning Wolves side are adequately equipped to go at least one better next season?
Replacing Bakary Sako will be high on the to-do list for Kenny and co. His goals and assists alone will leave a gaping chasm in our armoury that even two players may struggle to fill.
The winger toiled for much of this game but still walked off the pitch (after a tearful farewell) having played a part in all four of the goals scored (including one signature strike of his own).
Needless to say, his exit must be the only significant outgoing business we do. Any approaches for the likes of McDonald, Afobe and Dicko must be aggressively rebuffed.
Dicko took his tally to 15 yesterday; a solid return given mid-season injury woes. Even without Sako, one would expect him to better that total next year.
And if Benik cialis Afobe can come anywhere near a repeat performance, scoring goals should not represent the challenge it was for parts of this season.
Kevin McDonald remains the fulcrum of the team and I suspect Kenny Jackett may – for a second consecutive summer – attempt to unearth a suitable foil for his considerable talents.
Jack Price made a better fist of it than most, but is the head coach suitably convinced the pint sized passing machine can go the distance in the Championship hurly burly?
Defensively, it might be an internal shake-up rather than external recruitment that delivers progress. Both Hause and Ebanks-Landell could inject the pace and physical presence that’s been too often lacking.
Meanwhile, Dominic Iorfa looks the complete package at full back, leaving the highly capable Matt Doherty out in the wilderness.
And who knows how many other prospects may emerge from the academy next season giving Kenny Jackett an even wider pool to choose from?
Goalkeeping cover will be on the agenda with the flamboyance of Thomas Kuszczak dividing opinion. Love him or hate him, I think he could have done better with both Millwall goals yesterday.
Unquestionably though, the greatest challenge next season will be handling the weight of expectation. Progress has been as swift as it is impressive since that gloomy day at Brighton exactly two years ago.
The club, the manager and players are all victims of their own success, meaning there will be no debate about what constitutes success and failure come August.
Molineux no longer hopes, it expects.
And when that’s the case, there’s little tolerance for ‘what ifs’.

Brilliant blog mate. The sentiment is pretty much exactly that of mine. And a huge well done for another year running this blog.
As echoed at our joyous – and slightly humbling – get together in the Park View afterwards, you’ve brought a lot of happiness to a lot of people mate.
I promise to contribute a lot more going forward. Been a funny old season in lots of ways.
But like the Wolves, lots of hope for the future!
God bless you Mr Boff…and all those who sail with you!
I don’t say much but I add my thanks too.
Excellent first season back in the championship. Can’t wait for August. I predict automatic promotion if we keep our match winners, Sako excepting, AND find an Alex Rae/Paul Ince type midfielder with goals (I know easier said than done) to compliment SuperMac. Reckon RVP to push on next season and Jacobs to find his way back too. Boukari remains the unknown. IF against all odds he can regain full fitness we might just have a new fans favourite to make up for Sako’s departure. It’s a long shot, I know, but Boukari does have talent. Finally on yesterday, glad Derby blew it! Come on the old gold n blac
Let’s hope we can follow Bournemouths success, but next season will be harder.Jackett knows we fell short with goals from midfield so lm sure that will be top of his list.Much as I’m not in favour of journeyman pros l think this team needs one.Ricky Lambert would be a good fit. Also to get to the next level and beyond,we are not going to find those players from the lower leagues they have to be premier league.
I keep humming that bloody tune .’.ho ho ho its Magic’ and then experiencing a ‘Monday morning feeling’ – in this case morning is spelt’ mourning’…
I STILL can’t understand why we can’t make Sako an interim 1 year contract and Bonus him when we go up..if it cost us £2m in wages and bonus in one year it still would be less than we have to pay to replace him..
I just can’t see us as a team without him…sorry Stu but he’s better than Waggy…
Back to the match ..we gave away 2 stupid goals and as much as DB has IMO had an indifferent season he was conspicuous by his absence ..EBL is not good enough (heads the ball back to them) …Our no 2 goalie falters on set plays compared to Ikeme too..
If we can’t strengthen our defence, next season will be a failure and thoughts of November will certainly be in my mind…the very scenario that lead us to miss out this year.
Dicko made his mark again yesterday and in the presence of a jewel like Afobe he delivered again under pressure ..fantastic..
This blog will be filled with how much are we going to spend in the close season not only with the almost impossible task to replace Sako (I heard yesterday that he had even sold his house) but we need at least 2 defenders and a strong captain like midfielder..Ricki Lambert type would be marvelous ….
Yesterday for me was one of mourning as I said and Im blaming KJ for not foreseeing a too late situation..
He should of demanded money and put his job on the line..
It’s all very well saying we need 78 points for the play offs ..very true obviously ,but what about our shite goal difference KJ?
To go up next year **we cannot give goals away at the back.**please note.
COYW
It may well be offered that but right now it is Sako’s choice as to whether he stays or goes and I don’t think anyone would have bad feelings with him wanting Premier League football as long as he doesn’t go to Pulis and his…and his whatever the hell he calls what he gets his teams to play. I don’t think there is much Wolves can do about that.
Steve Showcase. You are obviously one of the few that thinks us not getting into the play offs a failure. I am obviously one of the few that does not. As you said 78 points and we did not get there. The highest points total before this season had only been 76. I believe the club now know what is required to make automatic promotion happen next season – I hope they do the right thing to make that happen, as I will defintely consider it a failure if we do not.
Better than Waggy ? That is the daftest comment I’ve heard for a long time. Go and sit in the naughty corner for the rest of the summer !!
Hallelujah, hallelujah.
All hail the conuring Waggy.
Iv’e never seen a player that Sako made cry, but will never in my life forget as 17 year old watching the Fiorentina defender break into tears because Waggy was making him look like an Albion fan. You fill in the missing bits C@#*.
Sorry Brompton, I love to watch him.
🙂
?????? You lost me when you said sorry …….
Loved to watch Waggy,…
yeah, I undertand that, but why aplogise to ME?
Perhaps as you know me so well you can appreciate I’m a complete Moron, juggling many balls in the air. I read your comments in support of Waggy and much later on anwered to you instead of Steve Showcase.
Sorry mucker, yes I am a twat.
Just be careful when opening e-mails from Wolves in the future, something about this new “Silverbug”
🙂
As far as “what ifs” are concerned I would look towards November for the reason we arent in the playoffs right now but I would not expect a similar run of form like that next season. We should be right up there, hopefully with a strong replacement for Sako and maybe a defender and central midfielder as well!
Thanks Thomas, and you too Ben. As I said yesterday, the gathering would not have happened if you guys had not initiated this blog. It was great to meet up with the regulars and it was fantastic to welcome new faces and those not seen for a while. As for the game, and more importantly our season. We could have done better in certain areas, and Sako should have stopped frustrating us. Whilst he has considerable class, I consider him to be a luxury player – he is inconsistent. But, then he pulls off a brilliant goal, and as you said Thomas, he had a hand in the others. Just think what he would be like if he sorted out his inconsistency!
There will always be moments during the season that you could question, but overall I believe we have had a very good one. I now EXPECT us to gain automatic promotion next season. It will be difficult I know, but that should be where the club takes us next.
I’ve been saying all through the season, it’s not about where we place this year, but it’s about what happens next. Point is, whether we placed 1st, 7th or 20th is largely immaterial if the funds to strengthen don’t come, because the fact of the matter is we are not good enough yet for the Premier League (and neither btw are any of the teams going up; we’ll see them all back down here again the season after).
So I have a different “what if” that still has not left my mind since our relegation from the EPL: what if our owners invested appropriately when we were in the EPL, then we would still be there, we would never have descended to the 3rd tier of football, thereby making our 7th place finish in the championship this year seem like an achievement, which it really isn’t. Sorry! Dress it up all we like, but at the moment, we are still a Championship team, placed about where we deserve to be.
So yes, the question remains, rather than “what if”, but “what next”? It’s been the *only* question all along. Morgan and Moxey could have shown us what next last summer and made some serious investments, but instead they bought Leon Clarke and wrapped him in a blanket of excuses. What will they do this summer? Who will they replace Sako with? Who will they bring in to strengthen our defence and midfield?
The fans aspire. The players aspire. But the owners? Not sure. Was the signing of Benik Afobe a sign that they have they turned a new leaf or will it be a repeat of the past several summers?
Hope springs eternal!
Go Wolves!!!
P.S. Ben and Thomas, thank you for this great blog throughout the season allowing us to debate and vent our passions for our club. Have a great summer and look forward to kicking off a new season come August.
I think the style we played under Mick would have kept us always fighting relegation. Now, hopefully, we have a style that can attract good players both to sign and to come on loan.
Maybe you have a point there. I hope so. But imho there is only one way to attract players these days, and that’s by meeting their wages expectations. Our club has never yet come to grips with the reality of modern day wage demands and that’s why we miss out on players. That’s why they are obsessed with buying young players, because they are cheap. Last I checked, Stoke don’t exactly play like the Barca, but they pay the required wages that keeps them where we want to be.
It’s a funny old game,

Yeah, just up road from me. Sounds like a car share next season to me lol.
Really enjoyed the get together met the great Clive from Houston , great people . Great knowledge , great banter , great
beer , shit venue tho
Lol .. Dedicated to the Doogooder ! Up the wolves everyone
Slightly less shit when it’s open though Eh?
Cheers mate!
See you next season.
Sad to see Sako go he’s been talismanic for us, and such a powerful match winner at times, he’ll be greatly missed. Also Doyle’s departure was inevitable but also tinged with regret as he he’s been excellent for us.
Makings of an excellent side that should challenge for one of the 3 slots to go up next season. It’ll be tough though as the three coming down as well as the also rans this season will make the league even more competetive.
Thought we were good yesterday. Dicko’s second was a fantastic. Edwards & McDonald played really well. I still find it hard to watch RVLP, he’s got no end product whatsoever. I just recall one good ball when he passed to Afobe. But other than that he’s like a train that never reaches its destination. Very frustrating.
Goldbourne also seemed lacking in confidence. So we need some infusion of new blood to ensure we are at the right end of the table when it matters.
I believe we have the gaffer & the coach to realise our dreams, and I trust them to bring on the quality needed to realise our dreams of a sustainable presence in the very top flight.
It can only be onwards & upwards!
A bit of a disappointment at the end of the game knowing what we lost by,but it was always on the cards, anyway its history now.
Like the rest of the bloggers I want to know what the two Ms have in store for us next season, will they resist selling Afobe or cash in on the goal machine.wouldn’t like to predict that one.
what ever happens we need reinforcements all over if we want to achieve our goal next term.
The Sako situation I would give him a 1 year contract as said, and give the him the option to leave if we don’t make it to the promised land.
Overall though its been a better than expected season.
Thomas and Ben another great season of blogging from you both,
hoping to contribute again next season to the best blog on the net.
Have a good summer Thomas Ben.& to the rest of the Blogger’s
I’ve got to reply to you Blog mates..as much as my bit above was a stir up (worked) my point really was that we had a fantastic opportunity..
The tradition of giving it away which we did was so unnecessary and my problem with that was that it seems Sako goes aswell to rub it in..
We all have criticised KJ for tinkering and we have all moaned about the lack of investment to buy us some insurance..
Motivation when previous fixtures (not the last game) really mattered is the job of the Coach and we often played as if it didn’t matter yet..
That was diwn to KJ.
This season is not a failure Brompto it was a failure to forsee what could of happend and therefor negate it..
Eg when Dicko was injured we should of bought or borrowed for a temporary fix..
We could of bought a defender to help DB in November too ..
But KJ could also of changed tactics to dare I say grasp a point ala McCarthy..
In fairness Sako is a different type of player to Waggy but a jewel never the less and he changed games and results..
I’m the manic depressive here lol and it hurts me to see Brentford and Ipshit in the playoffs by a whisker..
I just see us as a premier club with great supporters ..
I just hope we stegnthen the team next season to bring back those days guys.
COYW
We need to strengthen as you say because at the moment, WE ARE NOT a premiership team. We must go up next season though as I will question the club’s lack of desire if we fail to strengthen .
By the way, you missed an n off my handle lol
No back tracking on this blog site mucker, go to the museum, best £7 I ever spent, take a look at the videos of Bully, Dougan, Billy Wright and my Waggy.
All the games featured in the Waggy serial I attended, tears filled my eyes at the memories that flooded back to mind.
“The Greatest English winger never to have played for England” they said, nothing will ever change my mind on that one.
Being a Wolves fan allowed me to watch that man baffle defenders and dazzle the Molineux faithful.
That’s a huge part of why I love being a Wolves fan.
Long may it continue.
🙂
Yeah, without question. Bit difficult to compare due to difference in style of the game, but imo Waggy is (was) better than Sacko.3

Thanks for the blog guys.
Do you know that at times I really struggle being a Wolves supporter? I’ve been doing that since the 1950s and I’ve been elated, worried, frustrated and angry in equal measures during that time. Right now I feel totally exhausted. The trouble is there is nothing you can do about it. Once you’re in you’re in. It’s not as if you can switch allegiance and start to support someone else. This season I seem to have experienced all the usual emotions in a short space of time.
I’ve heard that Derby fans must be really p*ssed off, credit must be given to Brentford and that Mickey Mac can be excused a smile. Quite honestly I couldn’t give a fc*k.
Now the season is over I have to admit that we have done much, much better than I expected and much of the credit for that goes to KJ. We’ve missed out on the play-offs on goal difference. By the same token, much of the blame for not at least reaching the play-offs can be laid at the feet of the Deadly Duo.
I think we all knew, at the end of last season that we needed a striker. We had to wait until half way through the season before we got one. Ok, it was almost worth waiting for but not moving for the guy sooner possibly cost as promotion. A few more goals and we would have nicked a play off place at least. I think we also knew that we needed a bit of experience in the middle of the park – someone to put their foot in, and on the ball. The various transfer windows passed us by and we didn’t invest when we knew that Saville was not really up to it and Rowe was injured. Even a loan deal in February or March may have made the difference, garnered a couple more points and clinched things for us. I guess we’ll never know for certain but what was there to lose in bringing someone in on loan? I honestly felt that for the last couple of months promotion was staring us in the face – we just had to reach out and grab it.
I keep hearing about our much vaunted scouting system but I struggle to accept that there was no one out there who could have improved us. Afobe was a steal, against that we have Saville and Rowe, Sagbo and Graham. Those guys hardly reflect well on our recruitment system. Against that Hause, Iorfa and Ebanks L have come through. I just hope we can hold onto these guys.
Is Kenny the man? I honestly don’t know but what I am certain about is that he needs to be given some financial backing to bring in the players that will really strengthen the squad for next season. Until the ambition of the Deadly Duo match that of the manager and supporters we are going nowhere. We also need to be certain that the players we do recruit are actually going to strengthen the squad. That is where Mr Thelwell and our scouting system come in.
Ah well, we’ve time to recover to go through it all again next season. At least it’s never boring.
So, we have already got people talking about automatic promotion next season. I say steady on – don’t risk your money on it yet. We are at this moment the 7th best team in the Championship and, with the three relegated sides (all coming down with fists full of money we are likely to stay 7th at best unless we have a change of heart and do something dramatic. After all the six above us will all be strengthening their teams, as we hope we will as well, and to get automatic promotion we have to pass five of that six.
Some of the current players will no doubt improve and some will not. It is up to Kenny J to work out who he thinks will. Then we have Sako almost certain to leave so we will be weaker there. Sako is allegedly paid £25,000 per week, a figure the club seems to say it cannot afford in the Championship so if they make him an offer to stay it is likely to be for less money. We will therefore also be paying a lower amount for a replacement which means a less talented player unless we can unearth a gem which is possible, but if we are relying on unearthing lets say it cheap gems (some you win, some you lose), that is not the way to really go for promotion. And all this is before we talk about improving other parts of the team with better players.
Perhaps I am a pessimist, or perhaps I have seen Morgan and Moxey at work before, but I am not going to risk my mortgage on automatic promotion or even the play-offs next season until I see a huge change in attitude from the men at the top.
Having said all that it has been a largely enjoyable season on the field if a little frustrating off it but Wolvesblog is one of the highlights to look forward to every week. Thanks, guys.
Just to point out that three of the six above us will be plying their trade in the Premier League next year so they can strengthen all they like. Also, two of the three teams who came down with fists full of cash last year did very little with it so perhaps that’s not so much to worry about either. I think this is the year for us to make the big push and I reckon the 2M’s will think that too.
Cor blimey guv’nor!
Wot a weekend!
Just got back home.
I’m really too tired to start now but I hope, in the next couple of days, to splice together a few minutes of film taken at the Second Annual Bloggers’ Ball.
Sometimes we might feel frustrated and angry about following the Wolves but, when I look back on weekends like this, the friendships that are made and the bonds that are tied between so many disparate (some might say desperate) people who come from every corner of the World (and The Moon, Bob) to worship at The Golden Palace make it all worth while.
Now I’m off for a Yellow Tail of the dog that bit me.
The PMDG’er and I will raise a glass to The Band of Brothers and Sisters that make up The Wolves Bloggers and their partners.
Long may we continue to populate this great blog with our thoughts and opinions.
And long may we gather together to celebrate our friendship and the team we all love.
Here’s to us all!
I am joining you, but not with a yellow tail, but a pint of Banks’ Bitter. Glad you arrived home safely.
Who cares if we did not go up? (okay we all do) Well we have 3 consolations… another shot at (almost)10K2MK! – This time I’ll be looking to go with my son as so many really enjoyed the day out last time around. (I may need a little help in getting tickets but I’ll give a shout out on here when the fixtures are released).
Supporting or following your team is all about enjoying the ride no matter the opposition. Agreed doing it at the highest level is the best way, but as the 2nd consolation we have more games to look forward to again and we can all have a good laugh at Derby. (Just imagine how you’d feel if you were a Derby fan right now?… Or don’t as I tried it and I cringed. 🙂
3rd consolation I hear you ask? … More Blogs.. what more do you want?
Big thanks to Thomas and Ben for yet another year of producing this excellent blog.
Yes we need to strengthen the squad over the summer but I do worry as to what funds will be available and what KJ is allowed to do with it. Overall a good season and we finished higher than I thought we would, yes lots of “what ifs” and “if onlys” but we support Wolves and when do they ever make it easy for us?
Must admit was nice seeing my hubby’s blood pressure go through the roof yesterday instead of mine for a change, i won’t repeat the language when Ipswich conceded but I was trying not to laugh!
Onwards & upwards for next season & hope everyone has a great summer (assuming we get one!).
Up the Wolves!!
Best wishes to all on this blog and enjoy the summer. My take on being a Wolves fan is simple. You can’t support anyone else so you are rather stuck with it. It is no good asking what if. Over 46 games you end up where you end up. In our case slightly unfortunate to have the new record for points in 7th place. But never mind. It could be worse. You could live in Smethwick. Or be called Norman. Good idea above for the next 10k to MK. Another pleasant afternoon in Small Heath also awaits. This year I was happy to consolidate and my expectation was exceeded. Next year the pressure will be on and KJ has already recognised that. Really impressed with how the team have developed and there is a swagger in our play. Aim for 90 points next season so it’s 4 more wins. Right time for another lager and watch England bowl the Windies out for 140. . .
I m raising an excellent Bordeaux .
By the way Brompto . . . . Showcase got the spelling right and you know it !
Super wolves !!!!
Cheers London…
Cheers to you mate
Stafford wolves . My roots
I’m a Dunston boy me.
🙂
Dunston .. Tyne and Wear ?
Nawwww
Stafford road, not Scotsford road
Oh …brewood , coven , four ashes , Wolverhampton , stafford area
Come on now what about Penkridge
I thought penkridge was an independent state . Like San Marino in Italy.
Your’e getting confused with Acton Trussel, all the money’s there and the pigeons fly upside down.
Forgot to say, was nice to see you bring your good lady to the gathering Steve, shame you did not come back, as it was a great laugh.
Lol. Love the sense of humour on here. See you next season mate.
… and this is what their own players think of their end of season drama! Rams?… Nahhh Lambs!
MM promised his players a “Happy Ending”…. Not sure they had this in mind! …Well ya gotta “hand” it him and at least one of his lads reciprocated the gesture!
Where’s those red cards StuWolf?
Firstly thanks for the blogs, Ben and Thomas.
There used to be a saying:
“If is stiff, in a poor man’s pocket.”
There was a worrying pattern to me this season, in that when we got to the ‘play off/promotion positions’ it was followed, instantly, by a couple of losses.
I’m open minded about why that is so, though it could be in the managerial department.
I shall expect 7th place next season and hope our purchases over the summer and KJ prove wrong with automatic promotion!
Thanks again Ben and Thomas….
Any ideas on the magic song now Sako has f**ked off?
Delete Sako
Insert Brompto
Oh ho ho it’s macic you know.
5-1 Afobe Sako.
Just a thought I wonder when KJ recognised player’s he wanted,WHY Didn’t the two Ms back him
was it that they didn’t trust him, after their fingers were burnt.
Lets remember Wilson,Bamford.2 good strikers amongst others he wanted and didn’t get.
and probably others we didn’t know about.Lets hope they make amends this summer.UTW.
Jarvis Afobe Dicko
Like the sound of that London, but would he come back.?
He ain’t pulling up tree s at west ham . One of my best mates is an hamster . He s not popular there
Nice one london.
What If.. I was Chairman, I would make sure Sako stayed and would pay him accordingly out of my own pocket to help us next season.
What If.. I was Head Coach… I would not be satisfied with early in the Season winning games 1-0… getting in front to take the 3 points but then finding at the end of the season the other teams didn’t sit back and hang on but went out and scored 4 or 5 against the same teams..
What If… I was Head of Recruitment (Or whatever its called)… I would be dismayed that I finally found a goalscoring Striker of great quality at the right Price ….7 months too late…
Does all this sound a little bit too familiar… Lessons to be learnt again this season by our great Leaders..
I am non of the 3 just a customer who keeps paying his bucks each year… and to be fair would have taken top half at the start of the season. however to miss out by 4 goals is galling.. I’m sure Kenny and the players share that pain..
Of course it could be worst.. I could be a Derby County Fan… Hahahahahahahaha…
Great “what if” analogy Nice …. true words indeed .. Especially pointed at those earning megabucks!!
Sorry s/b Nige..
My Thx too to Ben and Thomas …I truely hope that it is read by the team, KJ and M&M..I expect so…
Influence am we..!
Keep singing for Sako…. he’ll probably be on the bench then come back on loan in the New Year window and we’ll pay half his wages!
If Sako thinks he can do better than playing for wolves then fuck off Sako .
He s a good left winger these days but it was nt so long ago that people thought he was lazy .. Would nt defend etc .
Jackett has improved his game . Just as he will find a replacement and improve his game
He found Afobe did nt he .? Who d heard of him ?
Sako will be replaced easier than people think . I ve got a feeling that Sako will be regretting leaving this club by next season .
Hear hear. Glad someone else is looking it the same way. NO ONE PLAYER is indispensable. He will be replaced and he will soon be forgot.
Let’s hope KJ can wave his magic wand over no end product RVLP, ‘cos I ain’t seen any evidence of an improvement yet despite being given so many chances to prove me wrong.
Can’t understand how he is ahead of Henry and Jacobs in the pecking order, so maybe there has been a falling out behind the scenes.
At times watching Dicko and Sako is a real treat. I struggle to recall us having players with such pace and power. Fitting that yesterday should end with a bit of magic from Sako, he just thinks of things others don’t. I wish him all the best for the future. That second from Dicko was awesome. Yes Millwall are a poor side but I could watch that goal all day. Find a good replacement for Sako, a centre midfielder and a back up striker for when injuries inevitably kick in and I think it’ll be top two next season. Oh and of course reject all offers for Afobe.
Agreed Rich, but sorry you missed out a centre back as well!
UTW!
Just to add another “thanks ” to Ben and Thomas for the Blog. I’m a little sad we didn’t get to extend the season but still proud of what has been achieved. Hopefully the powers that be will be anxious to build on the excellent foundations. August seems an awfully long way away, but we now have some time to rejuvenate batteries.
Peculiar day in some ways – hope didnt spring eternal but there was still a timelessness about it all. Echoes of the past reverberated. Special were the bloggers who turned up and put a face to the name. Clemens who came from Denmark and London a particular nod from l.
Not the worst position to end the season at, but certainly the most frustrating. Having seen most games this season I cannot seem to stop myself from recalling the soft goals we let in unnecessarily, such as that late one at Forest, which came back to haunt us and ultimately stopped us from getting a play-off position.
The consolation is that we won’t be in the EPL next season and thus won’t be part of a relegation battle after Christmas. If any of you think that wouldn’t be the case, you obviously didn’t see the games against Blues, Wigan and Ipswich, when we openly displayed our weaknesses. Big club, huge support but the team is not up to it – yet.
The defence cost us promotion and that’s fact ie the goals against colum proves It.The highest points total never to make the play offs also backs up my argument.
The defence for me is the problem and I’m not convinced the answer lies with the Acadamy. One of the things I carnt understand is why Jackett didn’t use Ricketts it was plain for all to see during November we need someone with experience to steady the ship yet Jackett sent Ricketts out on loan.
Another baffling decision of McCarthy proportion was to keep on playing Van Para and discarding Jacobbs, even after bringing him back he still didn’t play him.
Jackett has to accept his part in our not making the play offs/ automatic promotion his tinkering, dropping Dicko playing players out of position changing a winning team.
I for one think this was a massive oppertunity missed, by the board not buying earlier it was plain to see all summer we needed a goal scorer yet it took till January until Afobe arrived.
Many of you will sight Derby as an example of how the loan market doesn’t work but loans are always a gamble, if we had invested in the summer then the loan market would of been relevant.
Bournmouth showed how it should be done invest in the summer.
For those who think is going to be easier next season think again, it’s going to be harder espeailly if our big 3 players are sold. 3 more teams coming down with loads of money, no for me this season has been a massive missed oppertunity
Ledbury and Paul ,
Spot on you two, but it’s nothing more than we’ve been saying since the November rot.
I’m going to quote the famous Steve fShowcase, he’s been banging the drum for Months now, ” Wolves were just too inconsistent”
Now they’ve paid the price and as you say nothing is life is guaranteed . (Well maybe Death and Taxes) oh yes and a Nurse.
Stu, I was on coach 9 going to Wigan I was at the back with my brother and his lad, I had the green jacket on and the 1980’s track top didn’t see your message till I got back otherwise I would have had a chat with you.
Bugga,
I would have loved to have chatted with you, I personally think your contributions to this blog are brill, you always give me a chuckle. Still your’e on the bell next time, I gave out the Tea and Coffee this time.
I go to all the away games by coach, so if you travel with the coaches in the future try and touch base with us, i often meet up with Brompton ( see him more than my wife), Bob the now very sad ex-Preston fan, hard luck yesterday Bob, Steve Showcase and Clemends from Denmark at aw y games and Mark Davies goes to lots of away games alhough I have’nt spotted him yet.
Roll on August the 8th.
Wolves U21s at Stoke today 2pm free if your’e a season ticket holder, £2 if not, worth a look.
Happy days
Spot on Paul, especially re. Jacobs and Ricketts.
I really enjoyed the game and especially some great goals. Dicko’s first, for me, showed me what we’ll miss with the departure of Sako. His mazy run seemed to go on and on, brushing off mere defenders like snowflakes off his shoulders. I felt all afternoon he desperately wanted to score on his farewell appearance and it was fitting that it came late on with another piece of Sako’s unpredictability and individuality. Adios amigo. You’ll be sorely missed.
Dicko’s second was fantastic. The run from the wing across the edge of the box was something, but the shot at the end was something else. Brilliant. What the hell were Wigan thinking about letting him go?
I thought Afobe had a quiet game by his standards and seemed unusually lethargic but even so, there were still flashes of what lurks within.
Either way, it was a brill day, which was enhanced further by popping over to the A Park View for a few jars and a chat post-match. Mrs Wolfstroker had a good time chatting to the ladies present and it’s great to swap views face to face with fellow Wolves fans. It’s a rare treat when you live at the end of the earth.
Special thanks to Brompto (sorry for spelling it wrong all this time) for the quality shirt. Also great to meet the infamous Clive at last, Clemens from Copenhagen and so many of the regulars on this excellent Blog. Like you all, I extend my thanks and admiration for the stirling work of Ben and Thomas. Maintaining the standards they have set is surely more difficult than setting those standards in the first place. Well done gentlemen.
I feel this summer is the most important since Mick left. At last the big earners are off the books and we have one year of parachute payments to play with. Sako leaving is a massive setback but wouldn’t it be lovely if someone already on the books could step forward and take his place in the first 11. He has the talent I’m sure, and if he could stay fit, I reckon he could fit the bill. Gentlemen, I give you Razak Boukari. If anyone owes us just one good season, it’s he.
The 2M’s get a lot of stick, much of it justified, but they ain’t stupid and I’m sure they know that for the financial reasons above, and the massive momentum built up since Kenny’s arrival, this is the time to push on. I’m confident we will invest during this window and I’m sure Kenny already has possible targets in mind. If we don’t, then I will join the ranks of the 2M naysayers but until then, I’ll keep my powder dry.
Have a great summer gentlefolk, and keep the faith.
Optimystic for next season. What Kenny might lack in karisma more than makes up for in astutability. We have got some oarsome players i would be far more upset to lose Dicko, Afobe or Iorfa than Sako. The team is worthy believe me. If i was Morgan i would bankrole some signings if Kenny wants them. You only run Wolves FC once and you cant take it with you. Its what a lot of fans want but i would say to Kenny look if they turn out sh*t dont be afraid to drop the feckers.
First and foremost it was great to meet fellow bloggers after the game. As a long time supporter who has never lived in or very near to W’hampton and comes to games mostly unaccompanied, the blog and bloggers now provide a community that makes a huge difference. Take a bow, Thomas and Ben, the blog is a massive accomplishment on your parts and meeting you on Saturday confirmed what great guys you are. Nice to see Stu’s roster of ‘locals’ especially as Jerry’s journey puts all of our journeys into some perspective.
As for the game, it was what it was! A good reflection of the season. Inevitable that for a short period we would be in the playoff zone…..but it was too early and at just 1-0 at half time, we knew what was coming! But the general lack of annoyance shows we know 7th was a good showing, disappointing only because it was so close and because of the bribery on offer in the Prem that we’ll miss. A couple of lessons for the future from the game……more awareness of the opposition’s back line to avoid offsides and more incisive through balls to use the fantastic speed and power of our strikers wouldn’t have gone amiss. Oh, and a new radar system for van la P!
Sako? I agree with London and Shrews that he might well do worse in the Prem. unless he finds a manager who can develop him even further and build him consistently into a system, he’ll spend his time warming a bench and getting 10 mins at the end for ‘impact’, as well as a relegation struggle. Better to stay where he makes real impact and is loved – his connection with the crowd is clear for all to see. But I also agree with the general thrust that we’ll find a replacement.
KJ? No blog could be unanimous, but the complete package has been all that Wolves needed in the last two years – a fantastic success, in fact – and I can’t see why that can’t continue and develop.
The team – Thomas and I did touch on Ince/Rae on Saturday and how we could do with that grit and experience to add to all the gems we have coming through. One big surprise this season has been that Ricketts wasn’t there providing that wise leadership. In fact searching for the right midfield combination is perhaps what has cost us this season – no surprise that KJ should seek how to use new players but it did lose valuable points in the end. We may not need much more in defence, though goalkeeping is not quite so robust as it was, perhaps, because our youngsters will have another year under their belts, with Stearman being very experienced now to marshal things.
Above all we need to keep the strikers – the power of Dicko is amazing, terrorising defences. I hope he isn’t frustrated by occasional sub appearances. And Afobe could become a Wolves legend.
Enough, you’re all asleep now. This blog is a very early start to a long summer of debate! All the best on the bike marathon, Stuwolf and a good summer to all. And thanks again to Ben, Thomas and all bloggers.
I disagree with the your assessment of the defence, even against Millwall we still managed to concede 2 goals.
Stearman has been better this season he’s cut out a lot of those costly mistakes but he has also been ever present and goals against colum doesn’t lie.
Batth also tailed off alarming in the last 4 months and why no Ricketts. As I blogged earlier I’m not convinced the Acadamy is the answer.
We need qaulity and expience at the back.
Stearman was not actually ever present he was dropped in November funnily enough (or perhaps not so funny). But i would be prepared to agree the Stearman Batth combo might not quite be premier league quality.
…and yes Rickits has been there and done it with a bigger club and is only 36 but its not completely doing it for me.
I do agree about Ricketts, but I feel the main reason we gave away two yesterday was that we were pushing up looking to score more ourselves, with one eye on the goal difference.
Yeah, fair points, Paul. I maybe didn’t fully engage brain on that one. However, I was really making the point that all our lads will have another season’s experience under their belts and that shouldn’t be overlooked. I’m more optimistic about the academy, given what we’ve seen over the last couple of seasons. We need quality and the right experience throughout!
If’s and but’s mean nothing, it’s one of my pet hates when people say ‘What if’ or ‘but we/It/they could of’. Means diddly sqaut. Moan over 🙂
I was not at all nervous following (Trying to follow it with 3 young grandsons in the room, noisey buggers!) the updates via Sky Sports, maybe an age thing or I have finally mastered the art of ‘inner peace’.
We nearly did it and I am so proud of this Wolves team and frankly amazed at how they performed this season. To miss out on goal difference is very hard but hey, shit happens! (blimey I am mellowing!)
A big thank you to KJ and his staff for giving us another fantastic season.
A big thank you to Sako for staying with us this season. I wish him the very best of luck for the future.
A big thank you to Thomas and Ben for this great blog
A bit thank you to all you bloggers on here – some of you talk shite but the rest of us talk sense! 😉
Roll on next season and hopefully meet up with some of you at the Mol.
Onwards and Upwards !!
🙂
A big thank you not bit****
Sevlow.
I really take exception to your slur on this blog,
How dare you say, “that some of us on here talk sense”
lol
Oooooh Matron !
🙂
I think everything that needs saying has been said by other bloggers.
I would just like to add my thanks to Ben & Thomas for their efforts over the season.
One additional note which brought me joy on saturday amongst the gloom. We finished above Derby which was great but also got great satisfaction from seeing the sheepshagger relegated with Crawley.
Onwards & Upwards towards next season and hopefully better things.
Loved the game against Millwalll, drank myself retarded at tha Park & been to the Moon. All the best to all you bloggers, Wolves have some true supporters here and may the force be with you always.
Brilliant mate!
That was one of the most surreal conversations I’ve ever had.
Sad to hear about Preston. Still, a playoff final at Wembley will help the finances.
Not as surreal as the one I had with him on the drive up to Preston on a completely different subject.
IT’S MAGIC YOU KNOW DICKO AFOBE SCORE GOOOOALS , IT’S MAGIC YOU KNOW DICKO AFOBE SCORE GOALS !!!!!
Big nod back Colin .!
Preston , I spoke to some north end die hard s yesterday … They said they don’t want you no more .
They reckon your wolves now , they said You are a good laugh and you can hold your beer they don’t want your kind hanging round there making things cheerful .
You drink too much , you know your arse from your elbow and
You live no where near the molineux so you qualify as one of us now . That’s it mate , you may as well embrace the change . See you next season
As you look around the other teams (not only in this division), you can start to get some persepctive.
QPR spent a boat load last year and just scraped getting back into the prem, then spent another boat load and coming straight back down.
Villa spent beggar all and are a possibility of playing us next season in the championship too.
Sunderland… always flirting with the drop just like we did and having a £12m Fletcher that can just about scrape 1 in 3 goals per game does like to take teams down “Burnley then us”. So if he’s worth £12m, then Afobe is worth £20m when taking into account inflation, goals scored and the extra dosh swimming around the premier now.
5h1t fans have to put up with Pulis style play… (yawn).
Blackpool and WIgan have both been run very poorly the last couple of years after stints in the Premiership… This confirms that teams need to be strong on the pitch aswell as at boardroom level to be able to make a good fist of it.
Derby… I should not laugh as it was my Grandads team (lived in Burton). but “hahaha”. How you can do what they did in the second half of the season would leave any supporter livid. They may only have finished a point below us but our supporters feel a lot better about our team than there’s do.
Forest… they have had all sorts going on with embargos and such, again showing how not to run a club that did so well last year.
Feel bad a little for Millwall as they tried to do it right on a budget, but still relegated.
Leyton Orient… They gave us a good run for our money last season… Now they have dropped into the 4th tier? WTF happened there?
Crawley… again not bad, but then took on Dean Saunders as an interim manager (I recall another team doing that and dropping a division)… bye bye to the 4th tier.
Yeovil… Did promotion to the Championship really have such a bad impact on them that they got relegated 2nd season on the bounce?
Walsall… got a cup run in the JPT and went to Wembley for 1st time ever… then finsihed the seaon losing 8-2. Ouch
So in perspective… I’ll let you draw your own conclusions on how I feel it went this season.
So, in short, it ain’t all about money……….although I’m sure it helps.
Talking of perspective, it’s pretty well all been said in various blogs about Morgan and Moxey, and will doubtless continue. This article describes some of what we all know about some owners!

Regards to the “There Magic…”
Sako really was the maverick magician, he used to be good at “disappearing” when tracking back but the some of his “tricks” were sublime and entertained the crowd. Now he’s set himself up for the biggest “dissapearing trick” of all… and no one still knows where he’s going to materialise… Not even himself.
Afobe and Dicko… They’ll be pulling things from up their sleeves for many seasons to come and the piers de resistance will be in them waking the “Sleeping Giant” *** How’s that for showbiz?
(It’s quite a relief that Clarke was not a part the “Magic rendition”, as he’d have come out with his tricks of a flower that squirts water and a bucket of confetti…. we’d have had to have clown music for him!)… I wonder if the reason he kept losing his footing was that his boots were a little too big for him?
Leon never really had a song. Apart from LEON LEON LEON LEON LEON. Which was a bit boring really. I suppose you could fit him in to ‘LEON AFOBE DICKO’ but that would be silly . Incidentally that tune was a bit of a one hit wonder back in the day. Got me thinking of other similar artists. Whatever happened to TERRENCE TRENT DARBY? Also was Planty’s ‘Stairway to heaven’ really about the old south bank. Just bored in pub watchin hull arsenal.
Just a note,Sad to hear about Jimmy Greaves.
Hope he gets well soon
All the best to his family
God bless.
Johnok.
Well said that man.
A great footballer, a great man also a very funny man, let’s wish him a speedy recovery.
Any Wolves personnel reading this blog, please pass on our best wishes.
My sentiments exactly, stuWolf.
Fantastic player and a great character, loved Saint & Greaves’y.
As said a lovely bloke.
So sad! He was the best.
Come on Jimmy – you can beat this mate!
Does anybody know why they axed Saint & Greavesy?
Sheer entertainment from two great footballers.
Yes, very sad. Jimmy was a fantastic player, all in a top bloke
Get well soon Jimmy
Let the Bull loose…. and they did on his support!
Yes, I can remember that – World Cup – a long time ago.
Bully was in for the next game and England won . . . . . I think.
That’s right… He wore the T-Shirt with that slogan to promote him and Sir Bull got his debutant goal against the Scots as a sub.
Jimmy certainly knows class!… Pity we could not spot a “sir” amongst us on this blog… Eh StuWolf? Do we address you as sir?
Yes, I can remember that T shirt.
I can also remember Jimmy Hill, in the after match analysis, claiming Bully had trapped the ball on the back of his neck. My mate & I still laugh about that. As was often the case, it wasn’t a great first touch but as was ALWAYS the case, after the second the goalie was picking it out of the net. Halcyon days.
Full report to follow when back in civilization, but suffice it to say, a fuckin’ bostin’ time had over the weekend!!
Love and kisses to you all, will contemplate, cogitate and ruminate for a while before writing my literary masterpiece for the blog.
Hey Clive, did Big Mark pick up my email?
I’m missing some bloggers’ faces for my latest epic film.
Did you take any stills of the gathering after the match?
If so, email them to me or Wetransfer them if they are too big.
Thomas & Ben many thanks from me, and to all the fellow bloggers it’s a great way of reading real opinions when you are out of the country with almost bugger all internet speed certainly not enough to watch a live stream very frustrating.
So here we are again the filthy lucre raises it’s head again £25,000 per week for B.S. is as cheap as chips in the real world. We need to strengthen and we need some experience in there as well. So how does it work, K.J. must have some idea who he wants in but more important that that is who is available? That is a massive question. He should already be making those phone calls because in my opinion if it gets kicked into the long grass until July your are only going to get the left overs. M & M Step up to the plate with that cheque book, and do it now. November cost us an automatic spot and if they are not going to spend it might turn out to be a blessing in disguise, to be back in the Premiership without financial backing is hopeless.
WolvesU21s beat Stoke at the Brittannia stadium yesterday 4-2. My man (replacement for Price to play alongside MacDonald) Conor Hunte scored 1 and made two assists, with Jordan Graham getting a Penalty.
Good weekend alll round.
🙂
I know you have been banging on about Hunt for a while now… Maybe with a good pre season we could have the one we need? (Fits nicely into the not having to pay millions out).
Just need a winger to replace Sako that can score 10 goals, another winger to replace VLP that I had hopes for when he burst onto the scene last August. (he needs game time away from Wolves to improve) and I think we need another striker so we can keep the frontline fresh during the cumulative games. Assombellonga was shipped out on loan at the end… He’d be a prize catch and a different animal to play when sheer height is required.
I hear that matey.
🙂
I am a big fan of Ben Pringle. He would be a good buy
…and does anyone know what happened to that winger KJ went to view (was it in Belgium?) memory failing. I’m sure he was a free transfer in the next window.
Target 100 goals next season!
He is well in the frame, if memory serves his name was Ziro or something similar, I know it rhymed with Giro, ( how apt is that) feckin benefit handouts)
🙂
At least we could get the “benefits”…
Trawlled through the back blogs and found him………
Michal Zyro
Well researched… Time will tell if he becomes a wolf!
First of all congrats on a very interesting blog. I am not too sorry that we missed out on promotion as I think we are not yet prepared for EPL . The good thing for Wolves fans (which we all know can be rather fickle and pessimistic at times) is that we are all full of hope and positive thoughts for next season. and talking only of promotion. I guess if we had been promoted we would all be be wondering how how we can save ourselves from coming straight back down.
Every cloud has a silver lining!
Talking of silver linings… That leads to the news we are now sponsored by Silverbug.
A lifelong wolves supporter sponsoring the lads… Maybe he got his company name wrong and should have been “Gold’n’Black”bug. as that’s the bug we all have!
6 figure sum agreed… That’ll help towards the wages of a couple of youth contracts going permanent .
Bad luck guys – Although Wolves squad is nowhere near ready for premiership unless you want to lose every week.
Was looking forward to Mourinho at Molineux !!
Not ready I agree, but nowhere near is bollox. Go away and boil your head and conitnue supporting boring Chelski.
A true Wolves fan will NEVER jump ship – you are a knob!
Ben/Thomas, Can we remove this reptile from our site.
strange reaction to a non aggressive post.
I hope you are right that Wolves are nearly ready … maybe in 2016 that will be put to the test.
I’m sorry you find Chelsea boring. I find Mourinho’s tactics fascinating. And Oscar, willian and Hazards skill sublime.
Good luck next year. Enjoy winning that’s what counts.
No need to exclude me – I won’t be back for a while.
Ben/Thomas
Thanks for the blogs all season. Please lay off Golbourne though, he has been one of our most consistent players and it is unfair to continually highlight his mistake.
I still say we need a leader on the pitch. Never was it so obvious as at Middlesbrough when KJ couldn’t have any real influence for nigh on 40 minutes ( note when he brought Golbourne on things improved dramatically) and we needed someone on the pitch to take control.
I can’t come up with any ideas but that’s not my job. Any thoughts, anyone?
I see Bakary Sako is employing a very cunning plan to stay with us for another season.
Asking £50k a week!
Too much for sandwell disunited and Villa seem to be losing interest as well.
When players are getting over 100k, I don’t blame him for asking for 50k, especially with all the extra dosh sloshing around.
I’m sure he’ll settle for 35k with someone like Newcastle or Leicester if they stay up. He’s just testing the water to see if anyone throws the cash at him.
Wondering what the summer will bring.
Next year could be a long hard season. Hope we still have something to play for come the end of it. Wondering who may become available and who we should go for.
Maybe Ince will be a target, at least on loan. Possible replacement for BakSak?
Thanks to Thomas and Ben and ALL the bloggers who make me laugh and keep me sane and grounded.
Strange phase isn’t it.. “what if”
Really gets up some peoples noses.. However in my line of work we use it every day..
To explain the consequences of doing it wrong which could be fatal in our line of work “what If” ??
“Oh yes”.. that’s why you need to do it this way and not that
its how people learn and are taught…
Better shut now before I get accused of talking shite….
Nige…
Nige…
What if you are talking shite?
What if there are no consequences?
What if you never posted your “what if” query?, then I may never have messaged you and wrote even more shite. :-p
So you are right, we do learn from what ifs… but not all the time. (I got married and divorced and did not learn from my what ifs, as I repeated the scenario) or was I just a dumb ass? 🙂
and for the record… By nose has been ascended by your post.
Nice one Shrews Wolf.
You are of course correct we don’t always learn do we..
WHAT IF I hadn’t gone that speed bump a tad too quickly last month, then My front suspension may not have broken and I may have saved myself around £300…
Of course many people have since told me What if.. it wasn’t the speed or the bump.. but the amount of Timber I am carrying these days.. :-0
Sako’s 50k per week request (his agent) could well be a poke at MM to pay more money ..perhaps there is a compromise..after all he did say on official Wolves ‘it’s not about the money…if it was I’d be going to Dubai or Qatar lol….yeah right..
Bless him..
The little liar lol. Of course it’s about the money mate. Sako is human, and while he wants to develop and play in the prem, he also wants more dosh than he gets at Wolves. Our policy of setting a wage limit needs to be reviewed if we aim to bring in a Prem Class player. I am not saying spend, spend spend. I am saying spend appropriately. We aint skint after all.
So many posts on here I kept missing you. Just wanted to say it was nice to see you brought your good lady up. I hope she had a good time. Shame you did not manage to get back to the PVH, it was a great night.
Hope to see you again sometime next season mate.
New kit launched tonight at the end of season awards…………..I’ve heard there’s no black sleeves back to a plain gold, well burnt orange as my wife says.
Here’s hoping its half decent may be WW with leaping wolf, I’m so bored of the current badge give me the sixties round neck black collar and cuffs.
I see our new sponsors have offices in Houston! Is this Moxey’s way of getting a contract out on you, Clive?? Or might you become their Houston-based diplomatic(?!) Wolf envoy?!
Cheers Bromto.. n .. I agree we have to pay the wages..we should never loose a player like Sako..if we can’t sell him the idea that we will go up nxt yr with his help then we need a new board … mmm…
His agent needs paying off for a deal..
We can’t run a club on principle..
Can’t get rid of that tune….Magic….
Thomas / Ben we need interim random Blogs in the close season !
up to 141 now..we seem to like the sound of our voices ..er..so to speak (write)
You are right of course Steve, but who are we? We will see what they decide to do and that will confirm their commitment!!!!
By the way you missed the letter p out of my handle.
Joking aside, have a good break away from here, and hopefully I will see you in the new Season.
Yeah, always having the p taken out of you!!
Left myself wide open there………………. Hope you had a safe journey back fella, even if it was a tad delayed. Thanks for your company – great banter as normal. See you in 2016.
Yes Cassidy … Really agree on the leaping wolf / wolves .. Much better than the modern badge
Well, I won’t be seen wearing this rubbish, it looks like a cleaning cloth, Stearman looks like a Pikey in his shirt.
WTF Wolves.
A big step backwards.
http://www.wolves.co.uk/news/article/new-201516-home-kit-revealed-2444603.aspx?
🙁 🙁
nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooo
It would mean changing my tattoo
Just seen new kit same badge ( boring ) and it has one heck of a low V neck line would not be wanting to wearing it in November never mind January still has a black band on arms,
Why do sports firms think they have to reinvent the wheel when it comes to football kits, less is more simplicity is often the key to the best designs a art collellge friend of mine once said.
Won’t be buying it even come the end of next season, will continue with my faded but cool sixties WW leaping wolf after all our official name is Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Big girls’ blouses? I know…..red card.
Blouse is right have you seen the plunging v neck…!
Bet Linchpin would love it…………
And finally some good news.
Leon Clarke released.
Why did they ever get him back? Complete waste of space.
Answers on the back of a pin head.
Now don’t get me going, Tipton.
The reason we didn’t sign Calum Wilson, so we were told at the time, was £3m was too much for a player who had only proved himself in Division 1.
A 21 year old proven goalscorer at that.
Instead we paid £750,000 for the donkey that was and is Leon Clarke.
So we could have had Wilson instead for a little over £2m.
Wouldn’t get him for 10m now and you can double that if he starts scoring in the Prem.
Take your point about Wilson but I think Afobe was worth the wait and will be a better player than Wilson
And some rather puzzling news.
Apparently Connor Hunte has signed a contract which keeps him at Molineux until next summer, but with no option in Wolves’ favour.
That seems rather odd to me. If he’s as good as Stu Wolf reckons – and he’s not a bad judge – shouldn’t we be tying him down to a longer contract?
By next Summer he might be in the first team making other clubs sit up and take notice and then it will be another Sako scenario.
He’ll be off for nothing.
Not a very cost effective way of using our Academy.
Let’s pray it’s not because he’s got the same agent as Ibrihim Kieta.
Where did you see this one Doogooder?
Stu
On the Brum Mail site

As many of us head out to vote today/tonight I was thinking of what candidate I would vote for if someone was running for Wolves PM, I thought I would create a mini-manifesto of the chapo I would want leading the Wolves Ship
• Early, and Decisive movement in the transfer market – There are clear gaps to fill, fill them early
• The Economic savings made by offloading high earners are pumped back into the club, not the PMs pocket
• Run the country, i mean club, with passion and commitment.
• Whilst we expect responsible spending we also have no interest in big banker, i mean chairman bonuses, or flashy new stands until the basics, ie: the squad has been tended to
• No more Wolves as feeder club for the shit
Well done to KJ for superceding expectations and for the squad for playing above themselves … A couple more Afobe-esque signings with the team spirit and manager, and not to mention most creative attacking football we’ve had in ages, next season looks very promising indeed.
Have a nice break fellow Wolfies !
Happy
Sadly when it comes to Wanderers we live in a despotic world, and its basically we have to accept whatever our leader tells us to accept.
ahh balls the negative line i thought i had cut out has crept in, oh well, thats an insight into the inner workings of admant
🙂
Thanks again to, specifically, Ben and Thomas but also to all bloggers for an interesting and thought-provoking season. I can’t see too much transfer activity in the early part of the summer – basically the Prem clubs take what they want first, (‘cos they’ve got the dosh) and then the leftovers are fought over by the Championship clubs. Having said that, we should be an attractive option for many given the season we’ve just had. Hope Kenny sticks with the ‘young and hungry’ policy but he really does need someone with those qualities but also with the experience to pull us through those difficult games – a young Mike Bailey would do !
I would like to congratulate Richard Stearman on being voted double player of the year.
He’s proved a lot of amateur pundits wrong…
…and some others right.
I always knew there was a good centre half underneath all that hair.
Well done mate!
Couldn’t agree more DG. When you look at the season some of our other players have had ( especially Dicko,Mac,Sak and Iorfa), it’s a remarkable accolade for a long-service centre-back to win both the players and fans Player of the Season.
Personally, I feel it’s been very well deserved.
DOOGooder, you poor deluded man yes Stearman has improved but he is still prone to making costly mistakes that’s why he was dropped. First time a player has won it after being dropped says it all about standards.
Let’s get this right.
Thousands of fans voted for him…
His fellow players voted for him….
…and I’m deluded?
I hold my hands up to Paul i know he is a very popular and regular contributer but interestingly i tend to disagree with nearly everything he says. Just to name a few that includes opinions expressed on Haywood ,Doyle,Stearman,Cassidy and Ricketts. The first 3 received vehement criticism last 2 vehement support. Nevermind Paul keep it coming football is all about fans onions.
Ps Stearman was dropped in November when we failed to win a game.
I must say Colin, you are not alone. I too tend to disagree with the majority of what Paul says. Sad, but true. Obviously all of us, and those players and fans who voted are wrong and Paul is right.
Credit where credits due, I said and agree he’s improved but and this is the crux for me he has and will continue to make costly mistakes. Why was he dropped them, why not Batth and that’s a fact not opinion it’s also fact he’s the first player to win both awards that was dropped.
That tells me Jackett thought he was the wk link he was but I also criticised Batth his performances dropped off alarmingly in the last three months the goals against colum speaks for its self me I would of given it to Dicko.
By the way many bloggers agree with me many don’t Doyle, 35,000 aweek scored les than most defenders, yes lovely bloke. Ricketts I believes should of played. Cassidy since his first spell at Tranmere has hit the buffers that’s footbal.
Do nt worry Clive .. The Albion ll be after our old badge , together with everthing else that’s ours .
Scums
F o wb a
F o PULIS
F o lescott
F o curbishley
And you sako
I am getting proper pissed off with the continued ‘when Sakos gone’from all club quarters ..are we double bluffing the bloke or is it now a full on foregone conclusion..?
I thought he was waiting for Mali – I did think that Moxey had something up his sleeve..like an interim..I saw the Moxey comment of ‘just don’t go to West Brom’ was reverse psychology to stay 1 more season..
Clever slippery stuff…sowing the seeds of guilt…
The fat lady hasn’t sang yet..
#deluded hope perhaps
I see young Cassidy had 20 games at Southend pier and couldn`t score, no surprise he was released, along with Leon, no further comment necessary there. Mcilinden had his new contract for scoring at MK Dons in Div 1, and he may need to do that again next season.
Reports in the press, if you wish, indicate Bournemouth are maybe relaying their pitch and putting in underground heating, now they are with the big boys. Also it seems they are increasing the number of turnstiles in the stadium to six, and seats in the press box to eight or so, but are NOT increasing the size of their ground by building a new stand, but instead are investing in their playing squad for next season.
So Moxey and Morgan – my question is, on getting into the prem last time – in hindsight, shouldn`t we have spent the money on the team, and consolidated before building that new stand, marvellous that it is, but in the fu**ing championship., and where were we last year you pair of to**ers. If a massive football club like Bournemouth with massive support get it right, why cant you two.
I wouldn’t lose any sleep over Bournemouth. They’re just the latest in a long-line of sacrificial lambs getting into the top flight for a season or so. Think Barnsley, Bradford City, Blackpool, and even Burnley. The press love the underdogs for a short while, but once the losses start piling up they soon heap criticism on them.
I think the difference between Bournemouth and us is that we have a hope of filling a new stand whereas Bournemouth fans are a little thinner on the ground. Unless they build one for away fans that is.
Spot on wolfman they all go through the same mill happened to cardiff. When they have got nothing to write about at the beginning of the season its a love in. In November (fecking november again) when they havent won for 6 games and they not getting any decisions they will be whingers.
Reading Mark its a rerun of all the old arguments very popular though they were and apparently still are. But no one says who we could have got and where they would have taken us. Who we did get for quite a lot of money was O’hara, Johnson etc who actually helped take us backwards quite a long way.
One last thought if Bournemouth eventually end up back where they started they might wish they had invested in something a bit more permanent.
They won’t need a bigger stand, that’s for sure.
With the election results coming to a close… I feel a vote of our own is in order.
Who are you wanting to take the 3rd spot?
A wannabe be smaller club that has a higher chance of relegation or a club like Middlesborough that’s could at least try and make a fist of it?
I’m voting :-
X Norwich.
Keep McBoring back in this league, stop Brentford doing anything other than finishing above us (on Goals) and Middlesboro just did’nt have a crowd to grace tha PL.
🙁
Let’s put this all into perspective though.
I voted Labour yesterday and look what happened to them.
But, on the other hand!
I’m Scottish.
OMG,
Politics on the blog.
I hear the Wolves “End Of Season Awards ” were on yesterday…. A joyous occasion I expect?
However over at Derby, their speaker completed the awards ceremony very quickly…. (Photo not loading:-( )
The ceremony is being renamed “End of the 1st half the season awards” and will take place when the Derby team get back from holiday, where they have been since January!
Well I was wrong about Sako a year ago and Kenny does seem to have that Knack of spotting potential.
He says, “the boy has potential”
Mmmmmmmmmmm
Not too convinced, Kenny you said the same about…..
Leon,
Sagbo,
Danny Graham,
RVLP,
Cassidy,
Keita
Now Evans,
Something strange in the Neihbourhood.
Who we gonna call.
Lee Evans!!!!!!!!!!
Now there’s desperate.

I’m with you on Norwich…
They run the club the right way (I suppose it easy with Delia cooking the books!) and it would rub Ipshits nose in it.
Would be good to have another shot at Ipshit next season, Middlesbrough I’m not fussed either way and Brentfords manager just annoys the crap out of me.
Would also be galling for Brentford to go up instead of us after last season.
I have just looked some years into the future and have seen our dear Jez Moxey, still the CEO, announcing that the Sir Jack Hayward stand is to be re-named the Steve Morgan stand.
Not so sure Omen… It would be called “Redrow” long before that!
Future is getting better all the time eh StuWolf? …. @OfficialWolves: FULL TIME: Wolves U18 8-0 Brighton. Season completed in superb style. Goals Rainey (3), Lindsey (2), Gibbs-White, Leacock-McLeod, Matinyadze
