If E.T. asked me to explain to him the experience of being a Wolves fan, I’d show him the highlights of this Christmas cracker.
The stuff of neutral’s dreams and an exhausting experience for those on the terraces, so determined were the efforts of both teams to throw the three points away.
It was Wolves who first conceded their lead, with Stefan Johansen given ample space to lash into the top corner of debutant Harry Burgoyne’s goal.
That strike cancelled out Kortney Hauses’ scruffy opener and was arguably against the run of play as Wolves had up until that point set the tempo of the fixture, with Helder Costa and the improving Ivan Cavaleiro once again serving as the focal point of our attacks.
What ensued between the time of that equaliser and the half time whistle was symptomatic of the majority of our performances this season. The defence wiltered at the first sight of sustained pressure, our midfield trio went missing and, before you know it, Fulham are 3-1 up and seemingly cruising to a routine victory.
Burgoyne, who to me recalled memories of a young Wayne Hennessey, must be ruing his luck as his performance did not warrant the concession of four goals.
The youngster would have been forgiven for thinking that the gods were conspiring against him when Tom Cairney lashed Fulham’s third into the goal, it being the sort of strike that he’ll probably try to score a dozen more times this season without reward.
Those who have been watching Wolves over the last two seasons will know that our teenage goalkeeper was always on a hiding to nothing with our current quadrant of defenders playing in front of him.
It was another bad day at the office for all involved, regardless of the fact that Hause and Matt Doherty both bagged themselves a goal.
January’s transfer window cannot come soon enough for Paul Lambert, so desperate is the need for him to add experience to our defensive ranks. It’s a shame that injury has deprived us of the services of Mike Williamson, who would have surely curtailed some of the more basic errors we’ve been making, but we simply cannot afford to wait for the former Newcastle man to regain fitness.
Kevin Thelwell and our new head coach must deliver a commanding centre back in his mould if we’re to start seriously climbing the table and there is an argument also to be had about the need for at least one new full back, given Dominic Iorfa’s frightening regression as of late.
Thankfully, the noise coming out of the club indicates that Lambert will at least be co-leading our mid-season recruitment drive and he’s already spoken of a desire to cut the wheat from the chaff and add some division standard players to our ranks.
Given the state of affairs at halftime, we should take comfort from the spirit shown by the players when clawing their way back into the game. Enthusiasm waned very quickly under Walter Zenga’s stewardship and was never present during Rob Edwards’ brief stint at the helm but the first team once again seem to be playing for their manager, though the visiting side were most generous in their defending for large periods of the second half.
Doherty was given the freedom of Molineux when tapping in Nouha Dicko’s nod on and Cavaleiro had acres in which to sprint before scoring our third, though the fashion in which he did was worthy of praise.
When Dave Edwards buried our fourth it seemed as if we’d completed the most unlikely of comebacks but in true Wolves fashion room was left for a final twist in the tale, that being a second goal for Floyd Ayitè and another equaliser for the Cottagers.
Of all the goals conceded, it was the fourth that was the cause of the most porous defending. You can’t excuse leaving the front and back post exposed at any level of professional football, let alone the division below the top flight.
It was a frustrating end to an otherwise encouraging performance and it’s fair to say that nobody associated with the club has any doubts about the size of the job Lambert has on his hands.
Fosun will need to deliver players of a far superior standing to the likes of Gladon, Oniangue and Silvio if they’re to realise their oft stated Premier League dream.

View from W2 Billy Quiet Upper
Well I doubt any of us who attended the game yesterday will ever forget this absolute corker of a game at a rain-swept Molineux. The fact that an amazing 46 attempts were made on goal says it all.
Fulham were without any doubt the best pure footballing side I have seen in a long time, particularly in the first half where they played the type of smooth, pacey, easy on the eye quick passing game that we can only dream about. Every Fulham player knew exactly what to do and where to do it and with their midfield, expertly marshalled by Cairney and some geezer named McDonald running rings around Wolves, our early lead was soon snuffed out in a flurry of goals – two of which were brilliantly executed. We all bleat on about different formations (and I am probably the worst) – 442, 451, 3241, 1235, 235, 532, 0010, 1000 ring a ring a bloody roses but the stark truth is no matter how we lined up yesterday we were given a footballing lesson which only a double skinned 10’ brick wall across the pitch could have prevented. Yes the defence was incredibly sloppy yet again but Fulham’s was also porous and this made for terrific entertainment.
Not that it was all one way traffic; in truth we did have chances in the first half as well even before Hause scored with a header from a corner. Fulham then really turned on the style and equalised with a flowing move down the right which ended with unmarked Fredericks pulling the ball back to a team mate and a crisp shot reminiscent of Edwards’s goal at QPR last week.
Then an unmarked Fredericks crossed for another unmarked Fulham player to head the second.
The third Fulham was a gem when Cairney, who is really making a name for himself, received the ball from a wide free kick just outside the penalty area and blasted an unstoppable volley past our rookie goalkeeper Burgoyne who had absolutely no chance with this or indeed any of the goals and I thought acquitted himself really well.
A shell shocked Wolves trooped off at half time and I remarked “more goals to come” but unexpectedly Wolves took the game to Fulham. For me the pivotal moment which started the comeback was an amazing double save by Burgoyne, the second literally from a matter of feet away, which had it gone in would have made it 4-1 and game over.
Instead a couple of minutes later Doherty forces the ball over the line from a Dicko flick and then amid an increasing roar (even the North Bank woke from their slumbers) Cavaleiro collects the ball and scores a wonder goal to compete with the others in this game with a left foot piledriver. Molineux goes ballistic and well done Wolves for having the character to fight back. BUT more was to follow right at the death of 90 minutes and following a scramble in the Fulham area the ball somehow reached Edwards at an oblique angle and come hell or high water he fired into the roof of the net to make it 4-3 and this time the South Bank roof lifted 10’ into the air. Strangers hugged each other – this is why we watch football. Surely game over now – blow yer fecking whistle referee….Surely – but we all know Wolves are useless at defending even for 4 minutes and with about a minutes left of injury time to the loudest of groans we shipped another goal from a header at the far post with marking absolutely non-existent.
Astonishingly we had drawn a game where we were out of, where we fought back to level and then take the lead with barely a few minutes left but credit Fulham they deserved a point in a game where both teams can take credit for providing the 17,000 hardy souls (the announced attendance of 19,000 includes season ticket holders who stayed away, according to the steward only 17,000 actually came through the turnstiles) who turned up on a foul afternoon a game of scintillating entertainment.
Wonderful stuff – even getting home at 10.25 bothered me not.
Have a great week bloggers and let us hope for 3 points on Tuesday evening at Cardiff.
BOG
W – What the Sam Hill is the defence doing? Well, nothing really.
O – Oh! Dangerous Dave, you’re rubbish (It’s only 5 goals in 8 games I think).
W – Well, we at least have found out where the opposition’s net is.
Here’s a new competition.
Q. Spot the attacker.
A. He’s the one with four Wolves defenders nowhere near him.
Happy not to have lost. Gutted not to have won. Great entertainment.
I think Fulham play how every fan in the Championship would like to see their own team perform. Even at 3-1 they kept pouring forward. Very impressive, but they’ll have to find more resolve defensively if they want to get in the top 6.
Their midfield totally dominated with McDonald predictably key. In one beautifully symbolic moment he split Edwards and Coady with one pass as they attempted a flanking approach. He is twice the talent of those two players. The real reason he left will one day come out in the wash.
The defence isn’t even close to being right. Doherty is one of our best attackers but isn’t fulfilling his primary purpose. Batth, Hause and Iorfa all terrible in possession and not strong enough at the key moments. Fulham were equally woeful at the back (thank god) but at least distributed the ball well throughout. That moment when the ball went up in the air and Iorfa not only mis-controlled, but actually passed it to their player was priceless. His occasional foray forward isn’t enough to forgive such inept play in the defensive third.
Cavaleiro was very good. He must have won the ball back six or seven times, continually carried a threat and took his goal wonderfully. With him and Costa in the team, we’ve always got a chance.
The profligate forwards cost us. Dicko missed an open goal in the first half (the angle wasn’t that tight) and is desperately lacking confidence. Seems to be missing that yard of pace that used to get him away from defenders. Hopefully that returns in time. Bodvarsson still carries a physical threat but little is coming off for him and he was too easily beaten at the back post for their 94th minute leveler.
Finally, well done to Harry Burgoyne who was excellent. ‘Presence’ is a big thing for a keeper and he felt like a strong presence throughout. He didn’t make me worried, even when the goals were flying in (which he could do nothing about). And the double save in the second half was Schmeichel-esque. I’d have him between the sticks ahead of Lonergan any day.
I’m not worried as long as we are capable of playing the type of attacking football we did against Fulham. The prices are a bit stiffer in january. It shouldn’t be to difficult to bring in quality defenders, as long as Wolves are willing to pay as much as it take to bring in quality players. We’ve struggled earlier when Moxey runned the show. The players brought in should reflect the ambitions.
Well said Thomas.
All things considered Lambert has done well.
One thing on show yesterday was a cohesion, a ‘team spirit’, which has been lacking for sometime.
The weaknesses in the ‘team’ are obvious to everyone.
But maybe we have finally got an ambitious, intelligent manager, with enough backing, to get us to the Premier League.
If things on the pitch continue to improve, as they have done over the past 4 games, I am sure Lambert has a very clear vision; whom he wants to come in and whom he wants out, during the January transfer window.
After the passion showed yesterday by him and his players, I for one, am prepared to trust his judgement.
Great entertaining game, encouraging to see players working with manager and fans getting behind him also. Great write up Ben Rasmin and glad to have my teeth still since you nearly knocked them out when jumping up after fourth goal went in ?
For entertainment like that, I’d be happy to get drenched every other Saturday at the Molineux, though it would be great to win one eventually.
Got to highlight the efforts of young Harry, a product of Ledbury Goalkeeping Academy, he must surely be a contender for our next home grown goalkeeping star.
The Cardiff game now assumes the mantle of a six pointer, if we had beat Fulham then a point at Cardiff would have been a decent return as it is we need to win there to put some day light between us and the bottom three.
The defence is that bad I’m actually glad Stearman is available, that says more about how bad the whole back four have performed this season.
I just hope those 2 points lost aren’t the difference between survival and relegation.
I was interested to see that Fulham’s manager Jokanovic thought that his team had been undone by ‘simple’ football and that ties in a little with something I noticed during the win at QPR. On more than one occasion Wolves players could be seen gesticulating that a colleague had chosen a wrong option or misread their intentions. As well as lacking confidence this squad lacks communication skills. The performances of our defence suggest that this is not a problem unique to our non-British players. So perhaps we should stick to ‘simple’, preferably attacking, football in which all of the players understand their role ?
As for our defence, Fulham’s 94th minute equaliser tells us everything we need to know. 8 Wolves players in our box against 4 from Fulham, 2 of whom were unmarked. Try talking to each other guys…
so much for mt prediction of a run of games with a clean sheet! But got to be the best afternoons entertainment at the Mol for a very long while. Great stuff, more of the same at Cardiff and we are on the up. Great lunch time in the North Bank Bar, Thanks Bev and all your hard working bar Staff. COYW.
I note we are in for Ben Marshall, everything has been cleared for us to buy, if we meet his £25,000 a week wages.
Also, Coady to Newcastle in January.
Hope West Ham are still interested in Iorfa…. please, please, please.
Wallace wanted by Millwall.
Looking good.
A good buy. A Versatile player which can play out on the wing or as a fullback.
First of all: a brilliant thread—congrats to everybody. On the last two messages I have my doubts about the proposed deals. I agree with you, KJK, about Ben Marshall, but I feel his winger qualities are superfluous; what we need is a top-class defender, end of. On the wings we’ve got Costa (who I hope we keep) and Cavaleiro, plus several others and even Iorfa is not awful going forward. On Coady, I understand that he is unlikely to be a big influence in getting us to the Prem but, while we are bottom-half Chumps, I’m reluctant to see us lose his resolution. Even Iorfa showed such quality two years ago, that I feel that if we sell him, when he gets out of his defensive slump, we will live to regret it—I would like to see him in the reserves for a spell. Good luck to Wallace at Millwall!
Just to clarify “end of.” That refers to the defender we buy. I’d certainly appreciate a new good midfielder.
A classic game but also redolent of all that is good & not so good about our team.
Ecstatic on my 62nd birthday to see my favourite current player Dangerous Dave score the winner! But don’t you always know we’re gonna mess it up?
First half we was shite. Lambert is notably cautious due to our league position, but that could be our undoing. It’s got to be 4-4-2 for me a mouth watering front 4 of Bod, Dicko, Cav & Costa will win us games. That formation won the 2nd half 3-1. 4-3-3 it was reversed.
Final point is the one made about Iorfa & when he plays on instinct. That applies to the whole team for me. When we stop & think about it we’re dire. How the hell are we fighting relegation with the Fosun investment? It’s been a poor season thus far. But play Bod & Dicko up top please,& no more kamakazie defending! Thought Burgoyne acquitted himself well, but he needs to be more dominating with coming for crosses. But of course only Wolves could have the 2 first choice keepers out together. A little help in the New Year says PL. That is perhaps an understatement!
Allen, I also thought that a 442 formation with Bod and Dicko in the CF and Costa and Cav on the wings would be ideal ; but then I realised it would only leave us with 2 DM players (choose from Ed, Saiss and Coady). Would you be happy with only two defensive midfielders protecting our infamous back four??? I think a 442 might be the way to go against any bottom 6 teams, the rest we have to stick with 433.
Fully agree we have to try and convince Costa to stay. Not sure that Dicko is the man to lead the attack. He does everything else right, except shoot! I know it has been a long lay off for him, but I think his time is running out if there are no goals forthcoming!
I couldn’t bear the drubbing at 3-1 …I had to turn off the commentary and when I reluctantly turned it back to see if it was 5 against us…we were 4-3 up..quite amazing..
But you can imagine – Mike Burrows commentary 1 min to go…. ‘oh no …’that regular sound some of us have to bear..
I shook my head at the miricle and then the ludicrous giveaway that we are so historically known for…I appeal to Lambert to take this misery away from us – it’s just heartbreaking…
If ever there was now a 100% conclusion that we need at least a no5 (and captain) then this is surely the final proof..
Our conceding rips the heart out of the people who score for us in the first place..my thoughts were with Mr club player Dave Edwards poor poor sod…he got us there only to be let down as usual..half our defenders and DB should just fuck off..I’m livid and fed up sounding like a record …
So good luck PL and welcome to the heart ache..if I was you I’d spend £50M in Jan just for starters ..and for good measure tell Thellwell to fuck off too..
Opologies to the women reading this..
COYW
shame none of our strikers scored. If they did we would have won. Lol
Thanks Ben. Sums it up for me.
I had an interesting vantage point immediately behind the press section in Billy Quiet Upper WV3. Our journo friends weren’t overly excited by proceedings but that was in direct contrast to the rest of the stand when our fourth goal went in. The joy was fleeting (as seems our lot these days) but it was a moment I’ll treasure for a long time.
Off to watch a snippet or two of my new Champions of the World DVD; my better half is very understanding but she draws the line at 5 hours of Wolves!
If you have any trouble from there Dougie ….just tell her she ain’t coming to the Blggers Ballbash in May….She’ll soon see sense…..xx
That will work as she is keen to come – and has said she’ll even go to the match!
We were just thinking of making a booking at PVH for May in the next week or two. It was fully booked this weekend and we stayed in the Quality Hotel around the corner. Not in the same league….
I think the consensus is for a Sat stopover with the game on Sunday.
Keep tuned in on that one mate….
I think a Sat night (as opposed to Sun) is better because of those poor sods having to work on the Monday
We’ve already booked in for the Saturday night…
Thanks for that Mike. We’ll do likewise and see you then (if not before).
After fighting back from 1-3 to 4-3 our players must have been emotionally all over the place, and their jubilant celebration after Edward’s goal – apparently concentration went – yes, we need a captain to marshall the team, keep them focussed.
Good to see Cav showing what he can do, and yes, Dicko and Bod should start, even away to Cardiff, it’s the defence that is the problem (as well as the midfield!)
The chariot race in Ben Hur only lasts 11 minutes and you guess from the start that Mr Hur might win despite being up against some cunning opposition. Yesterday’s epic lasted 96 minutes and had more plot twists than The Usual Suspects. At half time we had definitely lost, after 91 minutes we had definitely won. In the end it made as much sense as a Robbe-Grillet film. Well Paul you seen the audition pieces, we seem to have no problem hiring extras but have we got any star material?
Brilliant Danny!
Star material?
Cav as an up and coming Charlton Heston?
What an absolutely stunning game ..and a credit to both sides.
Two points lost we ask ….you couldn’t forgive me for saying a draw was a fair result….ok….so we led unto the 94th minute … but hey ..what a comeback by the boys …there’s no way I saw that coming at half time.
For sure ..there are things which need addressing but I have no relegation fears whatsoever…and with a couple of QUALITY signings …we’ll be on the up.
Let’s not get hung up about certain parts of the teams make up (defending) …there are many positives to grasp and with a couple of experienced championship additions …we’ll get there.
Fosun don’t shy away guys…..Providing Thelwell don’t get too involved we’ll be climbing that table faster than you can imagine.
Great comeback lads and don’t let me down on Tuesday ..
Are you going to Stoke in the cup matey.?
4600 ticket allocation, bring it on.
Oh yes, good game yesterday.
yes …But the Tickets aren’t up for sale yet …me thinks…
If it’s ok with you …when you get your tickets get ours too…I’ll give you the supporter numbers..
If you want then you can drop off here and we’ll go in one car…
No problem mate, tickets on sale on Saturday 17th. I’m getting 5 tickets as my Grandchildren are going, so thanks for the offer buddy, but the car will be going from Uttoxeter.
I will get yours and contact you when I have them. The reason I asked is because I found your ST numbers at the back of my wallet, (I know, I don’t open it much Clive) so I will use them on Saturday to get yours.
Stu
Let me know the damage …I think I’ve got you set up as a payee (irregular) …ain’t that daft…so I’ll transfer the wonga.. thanks mate.
Certainly an exciting game!
Rasmin says in the 2nd half :
“The first team, once again, seem to be playing for the manager.”
Interesting point.
Better still, maybe Lambert has got the team, at least, trying to play for each other.
‘First sign of good football manager,’ says Chinese Poet Lao-Tzu ….
Not bad after 4 games. He could be good!
Another point, though, about the team.
Firstly, Coady and Edwards seem to lack imagination as a midfield duo.
I know ‘dangerous Dave’ knocks in some vital goals, but he goes missing from games, for long periods. So does Coady.
Also, we need to start with a confident centre forward and it should be Enobokhare, not Dicko.
Unfortunately, the majority of players out for a long period, never return as affectively as they previously were.
For me Dicko and Williamson will be in this category.
Cavaleiro could be the best winger we have had at this club since wee, Willy Wagstaffe.
We need John Terry at the back.
Is he injured or just not playing at Chelsea?
To be fair it would have been a complete injustice had Fulham lost the game. But you just knew when the board went up ‘5 minutes’ they would create a big chance and duly delivered. I said at half time I would take a point so was actually quite pleased despite the late dagger. Plus points for me the increased threat in front of goal, the young goalie looked assured despite the goals reigning in ( not his fault) PL showing huge passion on the touchline, 4 goals scored, Cav performance, South Bank chant ‘how shit must you be we’re winning at home’ 4 points from last 2 games. Next 4 games would take 7 or 8 points. FWAW. Forest next weekend. In Nottm for 10.30 and xmas beers. Wolves sold out I believe. Cor fuckin wait.
What a great game. Emotional ups and downs and excitement. Just what we pay our money for. Fulham were great to watch and it would have been a robbery if they didn’t get a point from the game but we also played really well at times but as always defensive wobbles cost us again. I do think there has been progress under Lambert and we seem more of a team unit than before.
Cavaleiro is getting better by the game. Edwards was the pick of the midfield. And I thought Batth had a decent game despite the defensive chaos. And fair play to young Burgoyne who had a great debut. Future number 1 perhaps?
Saiss had a poor game and was rightly subbed and what is going on with Iorfa? Is he playing for a move away because he has been shocking all season. Sad as he is our most naturally talented defender.
Lets hope they aren’t too knackered after that for a six pointer on Tuesday at Cardiff.
Best game at the Mol since we beat Rotherham 6-4 all those months ago. Fulham, like Sheff Wed, and others roasted our one paced midfield, with our wide men isolated we were murdered in the first half, although bizarrely we could have been 3-0 up before Fulham scored.
However I notice team spirit and desire, and not some football ability has suddenly reappeared, and to equalise, them go ahead was absolutely entertainment of the highest order – real adrenalin moments.
I`m pretty sure under WZ this would not have happened , so well done PJ, slowly working the oracle and getting his methods understood by his players. Get some pacey, skilful midfield players in, and that big centre half we need,, then watch us go. Great game, lets have more of this please.
Now THAT was a football match. More of the same please Mr Lambert.
Roller coaster hell of a game, lucky to get a point because to be fair it would have been a travesty if we had gained the 3 points,Fulham are the best side I’ve seen this term playing some lovely free flowing football.
Some will say we were unlucky and some will say we wasn’t but overall I’m glad we didn’t lose
with something to build on come Tuesday evening.
If we could sort out the defence we wouldn’t be to far away, but its a burden we must carry until the new year all being well if the powers that be give us the funds we surely need. I was just saying to my son, someone like John Terry would be a great captain who would marshall the back four if we could prise him away from the Bridge.
Back in action Tuesday evening lets hope we can get 3 points to push us back up the table.UTW
Great report RAS…UTW.
Sorry Johnok – Terry has been offered £12m to go to China
Encouraged some strings maybe gradually drawing together. Not least of those strings is the South Bank perhaps one of the loudest ends in the country.
Going to go off piste on Dangerous Dave the Deconstructed Midfielder. I am a firm believer in the need for a central midfield that can hold things together and exercise control over the game. Shield the defence and feed the attack. (Look away now Bedders). Afraid i even have to hold my hand up as something of a connoisseur of the sideways pass.
-So Dave Edwards isnt my ideal centre mid playmaker by any stretch of the imagination but i am still an admirer. Firstly there have been his much needed goals. Secondly he has emerged as something of a leader both on and off the pitch. He has shown determination, character passion and intelligence. He is articulate and has local roots. In short i hope we can keep him associated with the club for a long time.
Colin.
Some people are born great.
Some people aquire greatness.
Some people have greatness thrust upon them.
Dangerous Dave….
Cometh the hour.
Cometh the man it seems.
Just seen the replay – goals..the equaliser…
DB not in the right place out of position to follow the ball..just looked bewildered…
and that sums us up at the back with Iorfa
Completely indifferent to it all…
PL….enough is enough…our defence is now a dangerous tragedy..
In reply to Rasmin, surely Oniangue and Saiss were the right kind of signings? I hope we have not seen either of them fully fit. Zenga and PL have played them below full fitness because of the dire state of our defence and our defensive midfield. If either of them have been fully fit, he is a lemon. But I’m still desperately hanging on to the hope that one day they will prove to have been very valuable acquisitions.
Great game, fair result though I wish we had won. Harry’s sublime double save was right in front of me. As BOG said, it turned the game. We showed character, I too don’t think that relegation wiki be anywhere near at the end of the season.
We are better going forward under PL. Cav was good, but I also thought he did well against QPR. I am optimistic that we will get some good additions in January. For me, the group to be given a P45 would be:
Saville, Gadon, Wallace, Lonegren, Silvio,
Not decided about Tex and Prince, both can be good. Most of all, I hope that Iorfa, Dicko and Bod regain their form.
We still have Graham and Zero backstage,I rate both of them.
I am an optimist- there is no cause for concern.
We are Wolves Jerryd. There’s always cause for concern.
That said, the comments above state and restate all there is to say about the match so I’ll not say too much. But I would commend Dangerous on his superb equalizer. Diego Costa scored a similar effort yesterday but from a less acute angle and the MOTD commentator raved about it. Of course, he’s a Premier League player.
Football, at the end of the day, is a form of entertainment, and there’s been precious little of that served up at Molineux lately. If every game was like this, although we may not win every one, there would be few empty seats on a Saturday and tickets would be worth every penny. No need for a half price deal to fill the stands. Now wouldn’t that be lovely.
Sounds like a game right up there with the 4-3 against Leicester that I witnessed in the Prem, back in the day.
I feared the worse after going in 1-3 at half time…..but what a response from the team, magnificent!
Yes we have issues with our defence but there is no doubt this team has guts and determination,
Now on to Cardiff tomorrow with our boys full of confidence.
🙂
So much for my predictive ability (tight game 1-0) but pleased with great comeback. Seems there is some team spirit developing which we will need if we’re to get out of the shit. I have high hopes that PL is the man to do it and take us to the promised land.
Only 2 and a half weeks and then we can go and buy someone who resembles a defender
I counted at least 6/7 men who stood there when Fulham got there leveller
We needed someone on the pitch to organise it get the effing ball in the stands to row,z or out the ground
Pathetic
Fosum.go out and spend some, decent doe on a centre half and a forward
I would go for Rhodes or nugent
Minimum requirement this transfer window is a quality centre back, full back (Iorfa needs a rest) and goal scorer.
Manna to my ears. Bring it on Lambert 4 new defenders, one of which HAS to be Steve Showcases No 5, and then a couple of class strikers and then Bob’s me Auntie.
Strike while the irony’s hot, because a bird with no arms is better than two with no bush.
http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/12/12/paul-lambert-wants-wolverhampton-wanderers-to-strengthen-defensi/
With reference to the above point about the dangers of 4-4-2 in front of our defence. I agree to some extent but with Bod & Dicko the ball would stay in the opppsitions half more.
On Saturday first half the ball just kept coming back. If we pick those 4 forwards who are our best players anyway. The opposition defence would be stretched thus lessening the defensive problems.
Fully appreciate the caution but it’s just not working & the only way I can see us getting a win at home is to occupy the other team more. At the moment it goes upfield & is back again in a trice!
It’s Lambert’s call & he probably won’t risk it. But our displays playing 4-3-3 have got us into this mess. Maybe Saiss & Edwards. Put Coady at right back with Iorfa dropping to the bench for a bit. It might tighten up the defence as there’s too many poor balls played out. With Hause & Iorfa it’s far too inexperienced for this cynical competitive league.
Thanks for the kind feedback chaps, always appreciated.
