A penny for a certain Cheshire millionaire’s thoughts, as our second successive 3-0 success was being screened across Sky to millions.

The romantic vision is of a smiling Steve Morgan, clinking a cup of tea towards Don Goodman, with a discreet little fist pump as the South Bank net rippled.
A cynical alternative shows Machiavellian Morgan caressing a cat on the arm of his oversized chair, stroking an imaginary beard and contemplating McDonald and Afobe’s current market value.
Of all the off-field conjecture and supposition (because that’s what the circumstances around Morgan’s departure amount to), the worry is that a seriously miffed businessman will cash in on the very assets he refused to part with in August, in a two fingered salute to all those naysaying fans who didn’t appreciate his benevolence.
Hell hath no fury like a Scouser scorned?
From the evidence we’ve seen in eight years of tempestuous ownership, I wouldn’t put anything past him.
So while results like this are like sugar for the soul, they wouldn’t half have a bitter aftertaste if they turned enough heads to look at Kenny Jackett’s navigation of a rudderless ship in unenviably choppy waters.
Maybe such worries can take a backseat when we’ve won so convincingly against a bogey side.
Maybe I should feel the three points and embrace our league position.
For the sake of this blog – if not my own sanity – I’ll attempt to do just that.
We look a very solid, dependable team with no shortage of ability.
Jack Price’s selfless, understated air of class offered the greatest evidence yet that he’s a midfielder not for messing.
Everything good about this performance owed itself to the youngster’s endeavours somewhere along the way, creating the stage for Kevin McDonald to glisten like only he knows how.
At the back, Dominic Iorfa was quite colossal, first in shackling the Terriers’ dangerman Carayol, and second in mounting countless attacks.
Danny Batth’s physical presence was worth its weight in a gold shirt, which aided Kortney House who steadily grew into the game against a rugged Ishmail Miller.
Martinez also looks to be a keeper with serious potential, to which I apologise unreservedly to Kenny Jackett for questioning his selection with such vehemence.
James Henry looked to be playing on a crest of a wave, with Ojo a genuine outlet on the other side.
Ahead of them, Benik Afobe looked completely out of sorts until he found more time on the ball in the second half, while Le Fondre worked hard to find space and set up the second goal for his teammate.
In short, it was an 8/10 performance across the board, with a smattering on nines from Price, Iorfa and McDonald.
With the team now starting to settle down and partnerships taking shape, we should look ahead to Derby County with optimism after the international break.
Unfortunately for me, I can’t shift images of an enraged ex-chairman from my mind, so I really can’t think that far ahead.

Unfortunately had to watch the match on TV but really enjoyed the game. Agree that Iorfa had a good game but how much better would he be if his first touch of the ball was better. I lost count of the number of times he failed to control a ball coming to him, but I suppose we should remember the last player at Wolves whose 1st touch was not the best. A certain Steven George Bull.
All in all a great weekend, just hope the international break does’nt spoil things
Onwards & Upwards
I’m convinced Iorfa could do a decent job up front if he had the required shooting skills and a better first touch. He’s the best fullback in the league going past players. Imagine Iorfa and Afobe up front. That would be a lot of pace and power.
Well said Ben.
Who knows indeed what Mr Morgan will do to pay back the fans for not getting on their knees to him in Scouser supplication.
But then again if the sale drags on, as it is likely to, selling your best assets drastically reduces the value of your product.
It is definitely a worry that Villa and Newcastle are preparing bids for Afobe in the January window with the gold plated carrot of £50k a week being dangled.
It’s also worrying that we seem to have gone from a ‘He’s not for sale’ stance to putting a price tag of £14M on him.
Unfortunately we poor suckers who support the club are powerless to influence the outcome.
All we can do is bask in the reflected glory of two good team performances and pray that Kenny can somehow keep the skeleton, of what seems to be blossoming into a half decent team, together.
And try and make us forget what might be in store.
And please nobody mention the Rugby.
Rugby? Rugby? What Rugby?
With his potential he’s worth a lot more. I’m not entirely convinced he’s ready for premiership yet. As a short term signing I don’t think he’ll do much difference for Aston Villa, Newcastle or Norwich. Newcastle should rather spend the money on a proper manager. I’m pretty sure Mclaren will be sacked as a manager soon.
Two sizeable slices of humble pie are in order I feel. Firstly to that guy who moaned about Martinez replacing Ikeme. To be fair in the early days it looked very much like we had replaced Ikeme with an inferior keeper but now, Saturday included, Martinez is looking incredibly good and made a couple of crucial saves.
Secondly to that bloke sitting in the North Bank who spent the first hour of Saturday’s game moaning at Afobe and commenting how he was looking lazy, disinterested and basically hadn’t contributed hardly anything. Obviously those two excellently taken goals proved that in fact he was struggling because he hadn’t scored from open play for a while but once he got his first goal – AND celebrated with his team-mates – he looked a different player.
So humble pie at the ready ……………..oh hang on it was me on both counts!
On Saturday I think we saw once again just how much of an impact Batth’s return to the side and McDonald’s return to form has had. Coupled with a keeper who looks confident and is playing well and a striker who seems to have re-discovered his goal touch and his love for Wolves and all of a sudden the spine of the team is looking pretty damned good.
Personally, going forward, I would not reinstate Edwards into the team as we are better without him – use him as a sub by all means for his energy and his dangerous late runs into the box – but I would bring back Coady for Price. I would also persevere with Ojo on the left who, I think, needs games and confidence but for me he is one of the few players we have who looks as if he can beat an opponent at will.
Just a shame we have to wait now till 18th October for our new game!
I disagree with only one point mate, and that is bringing in Coady for Price. In the last two games Price and MacDonald have played brilliantly together and I feel that is a partnership that should be retained. Bothe games we won won well, and our midfield look better with them both on the park together – in my opinion.
I know what you mean and I am normally one who promotes the ‘don’t change a winning team’ philosophy but I just think with his greater physical presence and his occasional efforts on goal Coady offers more than Jack. With some big games coming up against better and more physical opposition – we play Derby, Middlesbro, Birmingham and Burnley in our next 6 games – I am not sure Price is the better option. But then again what the hell do I know – after all it was me berating Afobe on Saturday for the best part of an hour!
Fear not Ben. Morgan will not cut his nose off to spite his face. If our form is maintained then, come January, we will be looking up not down. If this is the case, Morgan is no fool, he will smugly sit back and hope we get promoted as Afobe’s value would probably double to £20mil. Morgan still controls 100% of the shares. My Company Law is a bit patchy these days, but the Board of Directors have board meetings and make decisions. Presumably Morgan is no longer a Director, and won’t have any day-to-day input on decisions.
What I find particularly optimistic now is that every single Wolves first-teamer is still improving, both physically and in skill. Can this be said of any other Championship team? We’re not weighed down with a surfeit of older, expensive experienced players long past their best. Ojo, at only 19-years old, looks 10 years older in physical strength and could develop into a Sako replacement.
Morgan’s impulsive and autocratic decision-making tendencies have mainly been responsible for our fall from the PL, but his youth policy is right for us, unless you’re going to risk throwing tens of millions around for the outside chance of buying promotion, and we’re not.
Am I right in syaing that Ojo is with us on loan only and that he committed to a new contract with Liverpool before he came to us? If that is so, I do not see us keeping him after this season, unless managerless Liverpool have revised plans.
Absolutely right Brompton. Ojo is on a season-long loan. But that is enough time for him to make a major Sako-like contribution. Then, who knows? Afobe was on loan to MK Dons but Arsenal still sold him. Loans often turn into permanent deals.
I hope so, the only concern I had with Ojo was the fact he signed a new contract with Liverpool prior to joining us. If we could manage to keep him that would be awesome. He is only a young lad and is showing so much potential. I live in hope.
Thanks for the post Ben, as usual you captured it all accurately. I was a tad bewildered in the first half though when we were playing the long ball game. It does not work well for us, and getting it down on the floor and passing it is a much better game for us. We did that when KMac scored and we did that in the second half. A thrilling and certainly pleasing performance overall.
I may get a deluge of comments disagreeing with me, but I personally believe that selling Stearman has been a fantastic decision.
Looking at the stats (and not including cup games), I see that Stears played in our first 4 games against Blackburn, Hull, QPR and Cardiff. We won 1, Drew 1 and lost 2 conceding a total of 7 goals. The last 6 games we played without him and we Won 3, Drew 2 and Lost 1 conceding 4.
Being tight at the back also raises the confidence in our team, especially when going for goal. I know that Steve Showcase made a statement in a previous post about that fact, and I agree with him. To score goals and then see our defense concede does not help, and our recent GF against GA confirms that mindset. When Stears played we scored 5 goals, since his departure we have scored 10. There has also been 3 clean sheets against just 1. Okay so we have played two games more without him, but I feel that we are proving to be more solid at the back since he left us which is also resulting in a better strike rate.
We have now played 10 matches and I look at the table and see where we are sat, the points we have accrued, the goals we have let in, the goals we have scored, and our current form, and I personally feel we are doing just fine. When Dicko returns, it could get even better.
We am Wolves Ay We.
BTW, I agree with the Stearman sale as well. Kenny said “footballing reasons”. I agree. At Craven Cottage, Stears looked only average and I could see the sense in cashing in on him now. Fulham wanted McDonald all along but I think convinced themselves that Stears was as good. Big mistake. Stearman cannot be described as an improving player; what you see is what you get. His transfer value was only declining. We need a team of improving players.
Whether or not Morgan was responsible, we have held onto our best players.
And finally …the penny drops..lol I think you are right Brompton..Steers was dispensable his player of the year was for effort and much deserved..
DB has developed Hause and between the two particularly in the air they are safe ..Steers could be out jumped on set pieces ..Iorfa is now almost England ..the weakest link now is Golbourne strangely ..
My previous comments re having to make up a goal when we conceded can only be accepted for a while..
I’ll never forget Sakos face when he played his heart out once ..scored for us only to see us give it away (EEL again) and then had to do it yet again ..
Afobe needs DB ..period..he only needs to sniff one then if we clean sheet…
i was saying the same thing … reminds me a bit of the stephen ward conundrum, not great at defending but really strong going forward in attack … perhaps Iorfa is more of a winger ?
Le Fondre is no Dicko, and although only 10 games in, I hope we do not waste money on buying him at season end … rather put any monies towards an attacking left winger.
Keeping with player thouths – although i am thrilled at how well Martinez has played the last few games, it does beg the question what happens come season end when he gets in his car and drives back to Arsenal ? A shellshocked Ikeme to the rescue? hmm.
Positives, Batth Mcdonald Ojo and Afobe all playing well … and we really will need them as the spine of our play to keep these levels of performance up.
Getting back to beetroot – he comes out with “still has best interests of the club at heart” but sells up when we were 3 points off bottom and the transfer window had just slammed shut … methinks he talks bollocks.
There is uncertaintly, yes, but the groundwork is all done for some enthusiastic billionaire to pick up a club on the cheap and run with it … Imagine our academy players streaming through supplemented by the occasional big-sticker purchase to lead the way back to the prem.
Its gonna be a nervy few months (hopefully not years) til we are under new ownership, and we have to pray that McDonald and Afobe in particular can be held on to during this time, but I want us throwing our weight behind an aspiratinal owner and team rather than one hedging safe investments and bobbing about in obscurity.
Very good performance which, if continued, will put us in the frame for promotion to the Greed League. At which point one can imagine there would be no shortage of interested purchasers. Hence it would make sense from Mortgan’s PoV NOT to sell his best assets.
Don’t know how Ben’s match report could fail to mention the referee. I would argue that none of the bookings were justified – Chris Kavanagh, incompetence is thy name.
I just can’t believe.. no,I refuse to think that SM would cash our assets ..they are part of his future profit and although I previously said he could cash out at net cost…Afobe particularly would be a crazy sale as if we made the PL he would be worth twice that plus he would be helping towards the £120M big dough…
He ideally needs to sell the club as a PL club so Afobe K Mac DB Iorfa are the core players to get us there..
So .The match…I predicted right for once ..a really fantastic convincing result and I am made up that K Mac (partic) DB Iorfa are playing so well what’s more Martinez looks absolutely solid in all instances.
My defensive paranoia is truely over..
The team selection and KJs overall Mindset and managerial ability seems to have changed ..has he now a freer reign?
We seem to be a different team full of confidence…
I just hope KMac s lower back injury is sorted for Derby..if we get a result there I’m def a believer again..
What a turn round…
Isn’t it good to feel good? It makes life so much better.
I am not a businessman, so do not know, but if Mr Morgan has resigned from the Board and has put the club up for sale, am I right in believing that as he is no longer a board member he may not have any say on the sale and purchase of players? He may still own the club, but I thought it was the board who made the overall decision on sales/purchases.
Regardless, I agree with you that it would be rather silly for him to sell players, if indeed he can.
Brompton. I thought it a good idea to get some hard facts, as I assumed Morgan had scarpered. According to Companies House this morning a certain Stephen Peter Morgan is still a director. Actually, with hindsight, I’m not surprised. He may have thrown his toys out of the pram, but they’re still in reach… The ultimate example of his impulsiveness?
Unless Morgan’s resignation as director is in process I think the die is set. Morgan is still a director, but in a largely symbolic move he has simply resigned as chairman. I’m not at all unhappy. In the famous words of President Lyndon B Johnson when referring to Robert Kennedy, “I’d rather have him inside the tent p***ing out then outside the tent p***ing in”.
Steve, may I just take a moment to say, on behalf of all fellow bloggers, how pleased we are that your defensive paranoia is truly over.
We were starting to get worried.
…………….. and hopefully it wont come back if we start leaking goals again!!!
You may laugh DG but we were doing goals like you used to do joints and EEL was on the opponents pay roll seemingly….
I’m off the Valium now..it was pure torture..
DB the saviour….
Not just Danny mate. All four are settling in well. I honestly believe Stearman was our problem. Danny however is certainly leading the back line much better than Stearman ever did, so hats off to him.
Does no-one think that Steve Morgan could change his mind about quitting now that his team has turned the corner ? Or at least not be in much of a hurry to sell, while we suddenly begin to look like a promotion winning team ?
He may be like a spouse (not scouse! ) who storms out after a row, then comes back realising he loves us after all ! After all, he was claiming that his heart was in Wolverhampton just a few weeks ago…………………..
Are there any more Mel Gibson types out there who see conspiracy all over blob the builder running away, and the Liverpool manager getting sacked?
Bet Rogers aint singing you’ll never walk alone now is he??
Being as no rugby has been shown on my local tv, it don’t exist, so I aint at all upset. Quite the contrary, an excellent weekend of footie.
We win, again, the shit and Villa lose, Man U get stuffed, McLaren looks like a deer in the headlights, and Mouriniho ho ho is on his way…..hopefully.
There is a very small, slight possibility that I have to think about grudgingly holding up my hand and admitting that a few of you might have a teeny weeny point about Richard Stearman.
Fulham threw away a two goal lead away from home yesterday, and as has been pointed out, we’ve only let in one goal in our last four league games.
Still, I still like him for his commitment.
Any rode, moving swiftly on.
Another excellent performance from the boys in Old Gold and Black, and a welcome return from Ben the Pen.
I even got a match report from my 500 year old dad, who, though he hates to admit it, said we looked good.
Onwards and upwards, if we win our remaining league games 3 – 0, we’ll be champions.
Oh, and reference your post, Admant, Stephen Ward never was a footballer.
please don’t open that old wound again!!!
Fowb
Humidity Clive nice to see………….is that really Clive….on joking mate.
One more thing before I get back to work…
Regarding the possible penalty incident.
What was the ref doing in booking La Fondre when everyone else in the Molineux, including the Huddersfield ‘keeper, thought that the Huddersfield ‘keeper should have been off for an early bath? He looked as guilty as sin.
Why the Sam Hill would LF fall over when he was about to walk the ball into an empty net?
I didn’t think it was a penalty and agree with the Ref. I also asked the same question, but in a different way. I said “why did LF fall over when he could have walked the ball into an empty net”
I watched the replay several times and can see both sides, so I can understand the ref calling it as he did. Hey ho – we won.
We’re going to have to agree to disagree on this one mate.
I’ve also watched it a number of times on a BIG screen and there is definite contact in my opinion.
But the big give away is the look on the ‘keeper’s face and his body language.
I expect you can remember the first time your mum caught you with a naughty magazine in your bedroom.
If you could have seen your face then, you’d know what I mean.
I can remember the first, second and third time mate – I never learned the lesson.
I agree that we shall disagree. We can discuss this situation again at the end of the season if we find ourselves not being promoted due to a goal difference of 1.
See you soon my friend.
I bet you still got them magazines!!
If you have, can you bring them to the end of season ball so I can have a look??!!
Some pages may be stuck together ………………..
RED CARD!!!
Firstly, it was definitely a very pleasing performance and, especially, result. After the first twenty minutes or so, we were well on top and simply got stronger as the game progressed. Special mentions to Mac (back to his imperious best), Iorfa, Price and Danny Batth who hardly missed a ball all afternoon. Martinez is now looking the real deal but I share the concern about what happens at season’s end. For the last couple of seasons, we’ve raved (generally) about Carls performances and now he’s pushed back on the bench by some fly-by-night loanee. If I were he, I’d be slapping in a transfer request right now.
Interesting discussion about the sale of Stears. He’s what…28yrs old? Just coming into your prime as a centre half. A few short weeks ago we were all up in arms about it. Now, a few clean sheets down the road, it was the best decision ever. Danny’s return and, I believe, Pricey playing in front, has certainly steadied the ship. But what if Danny or Kortney picked up a bad injury. EEL back in? Deslandes is just a kid. We’d be crying out for Stears again.
For me, this season is too important to sell him now. I still think it was a very rash decision, irrespective of a couple of clean sheets. In time, it may play out OK. I hope so.
Shame about the international break, just as we’re running into some form. Tough games to follow it. Can’t wait. 🙂
I hear you mate, but stats don’t lie (even though you can configure them to a specific way), and currently we are playing much better without him, as I suggested in my earlier post. In my opinion of course lol.
Then stick him on the bench Brompton, if our current centre halves are indeed better. But I fear injuries in that department as the season progresses and few of us would be happy returning to a Hause/EEL duet. Too much at stake this year.
We can’t. He’s been sold lol.
See you on the 24th mate.
Touche monsieur! 🙂
If Morgan`s resignation from the board has any bearing on the two recent wins, pity he didn`t resign two months before the end of last season, he may have now been trying to sell a premiership side.
The notion that big mac or afobe would be interested in going to Newcastle or the Villa in the new year is for me absolutely nonsense. For one thing Newcastle under the current astute manager will probably still be bottom at Christmas, and while it saddens me about the Villa, who should be doing much better, they won`t be far off a relegation spot either.
Whats the point in going to a premiership side, getting relegated and having your salary back to championship levels. If they were being chased by mid table sides offering sensible money, that’s a different kettle of fish.
I enjoyed watching the lads on TV, second half they were excellent, no wonder KJ is a happy chap. Nearly rang the ticket office for a ticket at Derby then remembered I`m on holiday. My eldest lad has lent me an Ipad so I can keep up with footy while I`m away, I just hope I can remember how to turn it on!!
Brilliant result and what pleased me most was seeing all the out field players celebrate the goal scoreres there seems a genuine bond between the players in the last two games they want to work for each other they look like a TEAM compared to the start of the season and that’s because they are not seeing different payers coming in and out every week.
This is my biggest criticism of Jackett, his tinkering Price for me is priceless I think Kenny thinks that because we have so many midfielders he has to rota them for some reason, probably to justify the money he has spent on the to the powers that be, but that madness football madness anyway because its not helping the team.
Rowe has gone out on loan and Saville I’d have thought will follow soon for gods sake Kenny stick with the team that has played the last 2 games bar injuries and who knows where we will be come May ( we won’t be in the bottom three that’s for sure )
Boxer dogs willie.
I had exactly the same thought at Fulham about the goal celebrations. When Henry got his free kick the whole place erupted, Henry did his celebration slide into the grass in front of the Wolves hoards and the whole team to a man were as one. Happy days are here again, I’ll let the oldies on the site fill the rest in.
🙂
My new baby boy donnie was in the programme on Saturday .
Got his name down for the Academy yet?
I bet he only looks about two years younger than Conor Ronan.
Well done mucker
The Academy? Are you mad? No time to waste, get him on the bench as an impact sub. We could call him Dangerous Donnie. I hear Morgan had plans for a creche for our younger players. Built by Redrow of course. It will cut the wage bill right down, ten packets of jelly babies a week will be the new starting wage cap.
Remember, this sale might take years. He is just, essentially, putting feelers out.
They may be in the Premier League by the time the sale goes through. They may be in League One, too.
A quick word on the Morgan saga and specifically Moxey’s press conference. He says at one point:
SM “demonstrated his commitment to Wolves over 8 years, spending more than £85 million on players”.
Firstly commitment – he is leaving the club with an unfinished rebuild of the ground and a team which is no better and in no better league position than the one he inherited. Some commitment!!!
Secondly, spending £85 million on players. Well someone I read calculated the spend at nearer £60 million but we won’t quibble at the moment. Jez says it as if to suggest that Morgan paid the £85 million out of his own pocket. Of course, this was money out of the club’s income and considering 3 of the years were spent in the Premiership it is not an excessive amount, especially compared with the income the club received during those years. I would think any club in our circumstances would have spent at least £85 million over 8 years.
Yes, Steve Morgan did do some good things for the club but I feel that his first priority was always keeping his own money safe by spending on buildings projects and by keeping the rest in his pocket.
After all the doom and gloom in recent weeks it is only right that we should revel in this victory. As Ben has already pointed out, a number of great performances. Full credit to Price who refuses to accept his place in the team is lost. Leave him there Kenny! McDonald deserves special mention, he was awesome, back to his very best. So maybe after the horror shows at Cardiff and Bolton, this is the sign of things to come.
I think moxey actually said “sanctioned ” the purchase of £85m which does not necessarily mean those players were purchased. Also, as all wolves transfers are now on an undisclosed fee basis it is very difficult to prove or disprove the accuracy of moxeys statement. It is also important to think in terms of net spend as that is the level of true investment I.e how much has been recouped by player sales? Anyway, now Morgan has made his decision, it will take the time it takes. A rumour is that moxey himself is trying to put together a consortium for purchase. As regular bloggers will know I’m certainly no fan of Jeremy Derek but it will make the soap opera of following wwfc all the more intriguing if there is indeed an element of truth in the rumour.
Certainly the last two results would suggest that I too was wrong to criticise the sale of Stearman. I did that not because of his abilities but more for his commitment and being a local boy done good. More realistically, it’s looking like a gamble that is paying off more. A recurrence of DB’s injury would see me revert to the previous stance but fingers crossed I continue to be proved wrong.
Having been at Fulham and watched the Huddersfield game on TV a few thoughts.
Although it’s critical to play as a team there are several partnerships within the team in various stages of development. Martinez is not only stopping shots but also commanding his area up to the penalty spot. He’s starting to talk to and control the back four.
Batth and Hause – a superb pairing against Fulham where Hause looked a star performer in the making. This was repeated against tougher opposition on Saturday. Playing alongside someone who’s not hitting the panic every 5 minutes has added to Hause’s confidence, and means that with Martinez and Batth we’ve a very solid base to the spine of the team. One goal in the last four games – and that was a deflection – speaks for itself.
Price and McDonald are a formidable pairing in midfield. Watching Price closely at Fulham he plays a lot of short quick balls. Uncannily the majority go to a gold shirt – something that’s not been happening in midfield this season. More to the point he’s laying off to a Wolves player who has the time and space to look up and start the next attack. By taking on this role he also frees McDonald to roam which he did to great effect both at Fulham and against Huddersfield.
On the right flank there’s an interesting partnership starting to develop between Iorfa and Henry. Against Fulham they were always trying things but were frequently 1/2 a yard from making the killer ball count. When they get their timing right and get on the same page of the book they will tear apart some teams left side defence.
Unfortunately Le Fondre might be on the same book as Afobe, but hardly the same chapter, let alone the same page. This one may take some time to develop (if it ever works) although they linked very well for the second against Huddersfield.
Ojo needs to build his confidence so that he can link with Afobe and Le Fondre. As a player of enormous pace and skill he needs to be told to take defenders on. Against Fulham he took players on twice and two goals resulted. That is some conversion rate – this boy can only get better.
So why’s none of this happened until now many will ask. For a start Ojo and Martinez have only been with the club for 6 weeks and are finally settling in. Batth was out injured until the Preston game; McDonald had problems with his back/his mind was elsewhere; and until he got injured Dicko was looking fine for a hot season. Replacing the partnership he had with Afobe is going to be more difficult than replacing Sako. However, we are starting to see what a settled side can do, and trust we can steer clear of any more major injuries. A bit of consistency goes a long way in the Championship.
Another duet I’ve admired over recent seasons has been that between Golbourn and Sako. I fear that Scott may be missing the Malian maestro more than most and this may explain the drop off in his form so far this season.
Concur on Price with midfield wanderer. He pings the ball about with ease often picking the next pass before its reached him. He acts almost like a lubricant for the whole team with those around him coming into the game and growing in confidence.
Puzzles me why Kenny hasnt stuck with him and why he has bought half a mini bus load of midfield players to try and replace him. I for one am not lying awake at night yet worrying Kenny will be torn away from us for a bigger job. Cant see it. We have got some of the best players in the division and if we dont go up it is going to be very difficult to keep them.
BRILLIANT, what more can I say, especially the second period.
Please KJ keep the same side, its working at the mo.,all most the same side that done so well last season.!!!
Pity about the break though it would have been good to carry it to Derby.UTW.
On Morgan.???
Great result, but the first 45 mins was painful to watch.
Lethargy was the only way to describe the majority of our players, especially Afobe, his body language suggested he wanted to be anywhere else but on a football pitch.
Was this going to be another Cardiff type performance? It certainly looked like it.
Whatever KJ/JG said in the dressing room had the desired effect because the 2nd half was a complete opposite of the 1st. It took Afobe a while but he suddenly woke up from his semi-concious state and started to look interested on the goings on around him.
Kmac and Price looked good, Danny looked good and so the confidence spread.
A good 2nd half performance was enough to get valuable points.
Lets hope they remember how to play for 90mins+ in time for our next fixture.
I saw a long ball game in the first half, which does not suit us. Why that style was being played baffled me. We got the ball down in the 2nd half and played well.
I’m getting browned off with the ‘official wolves fan app’ that is encouraging thoughts on Afobe going to Villa or Newcastle… Wtf are we encouraging such shite? My thoughts
F…k off…
The subject is treasonable….
Steve.
For the record it’s all bollards.
He’s going to Norwich. End of.
🙂
Not until January.
I looooooooooove rumours lol
It seems that the Express & Star is now trying to pin the blame for Morgan’s potential departure on the fans., especially those who allegedly abused Morgan at Preston.
I don’t know what was said to him there but I know that none of us apart from those who actually do it condone abuse.
However, could it be that those fans were just following the example of the club chairman who not so long ago abused a referee and before that stormed into the dressing room abusing the players?
I don’t suppose that Mr Morgan sees it that way but then he wouldn’t would he as he is used to having everything his own way.
I see Saville has followed Rowe out on loan can not believe he was on Chelsea’s books..!
Nice article ben, love the use of mixed metaphors.
I used to use cliches now I avoid them like the plague.
Out of interest, someone else who never changes his spots:-

The idea of Mr Morgan lounging around in a large armchair stroking a cat is interesting. As is the vote amongst fans that our beloved friends from Sandwell are amongst the ugliest in the country. A facial combination of Mr Morgan, a cat and a WBA fan is terrifying. It is something that may manifest itself on Paranormal Activity and should be avoided at all costs. Contrast this with KMac’s goal which was a thing of beauty. As is Shefali the BBC weather girl who has just been on and made me very happy. Well it’s Derby away next and I am predicting an exciting 2-2 draw.
Cheesy,
Youv’e stopped taking your medication again haven’t you?
This two week international break is going to kill you. Roll on Derby, let’s get back to abnormality.
Keep it up matey, I personally look forward to your posts, it’s like being teleported back 20 years to when I used to rush out and buy the Viz.
Life with cheeseburger is life a box of chocolates, we never know what we’re going to get.
Fair play to you mucker.
Great banter
What has Shefali the BBC weather girl just been on to make you so happy?
The mind boggles!
In My dreams DOOG, In My dreams…..
I like her, but there are a number of other ones, quite likeable too.
such as Lisa Gallagher!
This is who we get on BBC Look North.
On the Fans v Morgan issue i am in the middle. I dont think there is a big chance of our next owner being so wealthy so i suppose i was basically in the careful what you wish for camp.
On the other hand the accusations of lack of commitment have been born out by the way he has jumped ship (a new partner ! the last 2 will cost him 250 million – good luck with that one ).
While he was comfortable with gradual investment in the infrastructure which would perhaps show potential profit he never believed in himself or the club enough to attack his role with the power now at his finger tips. His legacy will just be a family affair.
He says he started out mucking out the sewers – in some ways part of him is still there and he hasnt come that far. ‘Money isnt everything’.
Sorry to any Women here but conclusively in divorce you can outrageously demand the value of say an Arsenal FC..or 10 West Broms…..
Perhaps Morgan’s going skint….
It is well known that a married couple will happily sit down at the table and eat beans on toast together. When they divorce one will want steak.
I can’t say I’m too happy about the demise of Morgan. It’s a dangerous cut-throat world in football, and for me, long term financial security is more important than a ‘jam-today’ race for the Premier League.
I guess Morgan, coming from a construction background, thinks that you can build what you like above ground, but if the foundations ain’t there, it’ll all come crashing down. And really, deep down, I agree with him. (And I don’t like the Prem anyway).
Morgan never had the b***s for the high financial stakes in the PL. He would spend decent money on bricks and mortar (which he knew) rather than the playing side. The only redeeming feature of his tenure was the excellent academy and the youth policy. Given that he seems well on the way to more wifes than sacked Wolves managers, his character and temperament must be in doubt. An emotional, rash, irrational, impulsive man with a short fuse.
Abuse? Imagine if he’d been successful in taking over Liverpool. They would now be in the Championship and he would really know what abuse was…
I had a dream the other day. I dreamed that I was reading an obituary .
And I’d like to share it with you all….
Farewell to ‘The Scouse Saint’.
It’s been called ‘the end of an era’ by the Wolves faithful – and what an era it’s been.
When Sir Steve Morgan bought the club for £10 from Sir Jack Hayward, way back when, who could have imagined that it was to be the start of the ‘Old Gold miracle’.
The miracle began in pretty dire circumstances with the sacking of Mick McCarthy and relegation from the Premier League.
McCarthy’s style of football was considered outdated and was shown to be totally inadequate for survival in the giddy heights of the best league in Europe.
It was then that the visionary team of Morgan and Jez Moxey decided to change completely the ethos of the club and the way it played it’s football.
They looked for a manager who would have the same vision as themselves and found, in the Norwegian Stale Solbakken, the perfect fit.
The birth of the new Wolves was far from painless however. A lot of the more experienced players could not, or would not, take on board the new coaching methods of Solbakken.
He believed in the quick passing game. Keeping the ball on the floor and players being able to interchange in a fluid system that did not conform to traditional formations. 4-4-2, 4-3-1-2, 4-2-4… it didn’t matter.
The pattern could change easily and quickly, depending on the state of the game or the way the opposition was playing.
Early results were poor as the team struggled to adapt to the revolutionary way of playing.
In January 2013, with the team languishing in 18th spot in the Championship, the nadir was the defeat to non league Luton Town in the FA Cup first round.
At that time a lot of owners would have bowed to fans’ pressure and sacked the manager but Morgan was made of stronger stuff.
His long term plan was to develop the academy, gradually feed the young blood into the first team and say farewell to the old sweats who could not play the Solbakken way.
As the season progressed, results improved and Sir Steve’s faith in his vision began to bear fruit.
Narrowly missing promotion that year, the New Wolves romped to the title the following season and took the first steps on the path to where they are now.
Top of the tree.
Other teams like Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City became successful by being able to buy the best players in Europe.
Thanks to Sir Steve, Wolverhampton Wanderers have built their success on much more solid foundations.
A flourishing academy, that ensures a constant supply of young talent, embellished by the occasional shrewd acquisition from the lower leagues.
The Molineux trophy cabinet started to fill with silverware. First, the League Cup, followed the next season by the FA Cup and then – to the delight of the 56,000 fans in the new Molineux Stadium that saw the deciding 6-0 victory over WBA – the Premier League title.
All this success has been presided over by our benign benefactor, Sir Steve. The City had his heart and his heart was in the City.
And now on the eve of his, and the club’s, biggest challenge – The European Champions League Final – he has been cruelly taken from us.
I know that all the players and fans will want to join me in a tribute to the man who has put the Wolves back where they belong – at the top table of European Football.
And no little thanks goes also to his right hand man who had the foresight and financial acumen to make the dream work – Lord Moxey.
All we can do now is get behind the team and roar them on to success against Barcelona tonight.
And I hope that Sir Steve and Sir Jack will be smiling down on our beloved Wolves as our legendary veteran captain Benik Afobe lifts the European Champions Cup.
“He’s one of our own, He’s one of our own. Sir Steve Morgan, he’s one of our own!”
I really must stop smoking that stuff!
I was four minutes too slow!!!!
Your’e last girlfriend said the same Brompto.
🙂
No, she said I was four minutes too quick!!!
These international breaks really screw up your mind.
I have actually been watching baseball this week.
Overweight, middle aged men in pyjamas, waddling round a rounders field, spitting tobacco juice.
A one hour game takes 3 – 4 hours, they miss the s off innings, and the tannoy has to stir the crowd into singing!!
The US sports fan’s attention span lasts about 10 minutes, then off to the hot dog stand, the bar and the bog.
And I enjoy it!
As I said, these international breaks really screw up your mind!
I’m with you, Doogle.
On a happier note, Blatter, Platini et al getting suspended is great news, greasel you are next on the hit list!!
And to round it off, that article on shit fans being the ugliest was priceless.
Bleedin’ obvious, yet still priceless!
FOwb
Went to the rounders in Seattle once with some relatives, bored shitless.
But have to admit to watching throwball at times
Stop smoking that stuff – it’s bad for you.
Dont you lot have something better to do ?
You are a fecking disgrace (apologies to the younger listeners).
Thats an old picture of Shefali – Doog send me some of your stuff and i will get it lab tested.
On the above plaudits being heaped Sir Morgan’s way and the huge acclaim he is receiving for his wonderful academy, one day soon I am going to drive up to Compton and count the Redrow houses build on the excess land acquired with the purchase from the Wolverhampton grammar school. Each one is reported to cost around 1/2 a million quid, I know it’s on the tip of my tongue somewhere but who is the owner of Redrow again????
Come on Twixfix there’s a conspiracy theory somewhere in there.
To Clive from Hustings.
Sep Blatter, the man deserves everything he’s about to inherit. A FIFA World of Sh€#
We’re still getting some reet good players coming through the Academy Stu.
I’m the Academy’s biggest fan. Young Naill Ennis played for them today against Benfica and came on as sub and scored in a Wolves 3-2 win. It just keeps getting better.
I think you’ll find the owner is the late Sir Steve.
I hope I don’t have another dream about Pope Blatter or Archbishop Platini.
The two most honest men in football.
For all you bloggers planning Wolves games. Sky has changed 3 games in December on top of the 2 this month. Details below.
http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/2015/10/08/wolves-and-villa-kick-offs-moved-for-sky/?
Bloody TV! So now on Boxing Day instead of leaving home at 11am and getting back at 730pm we will have to leave at 115pm and not get back till 945pm. Mrs Bedford Wolf will not be happy.
P.S. anyone planning on going to Ipswich on 21 November?
P.P.S. it’s a Saturday with a 3pm kick off!
P.P.P.S. well it is at the moment anyway!
Stephen Ward was a nice lad, tried his heart out every game but was certainly NOT a natural defender and was arguably one of the worst left backs we have had – mainly because he wasn’t one. So can someone explain how the hell he has just played left back for the Republic of Ireland in their amazing record breaking victory against World Champions Germany?
On a non-Wolves related note I have to go to Liverpool in December – my eldest son and fellow Wolves supporter Daryl is marrying a Scouse lass next year – and have booked into The Shankly Hotel, a new Bill Shankly themed hotel in the city. You know the saying of course – “some people think football is a matter of life and death; I don’t like that attitude. I can assure them that its much more important than that”. Classic.
A good write up on the Academy
http://mobile.wolves.co.uk/news/article/read-academy-overview-with-gareth-prosser-2735519.aspx
A very worthy write up indeed Stu.
Steve Morgan may not be the flavour of the month (or of any month come to that) but if he is remembered for anything it will be the Academy.
Out of darkness…
Except that greasel is mentioned twice, which is three times too many.
How he can contribute anything worthwhile is beyond me.
Another match changed by Sky…….
Brighton away moved from January 2nd to New Years Day 3pm
Obviously Sky think we have turned the corner and are value for money, that’s 4 games on TV during December including the New Years Day game.
I hope they’re right.
Top of the league by Christmas.
Good news Brighton v Wolves on New Years Day. I will be in Cape Town for test match South Africa v England. Time difference only +1 hour so great. Test doesn’t start till 2nd Jan. So find a bar and a telly. We are taking our huge Gornal Wolves flag. Look out for it on telly.
Cheeseburger,
Good news. SKY TV obviously reckons us as contenders.
I’m hoping to be in Cape Town for the test too. I might go with Gulliver’s Travels. Only thing is that I can’t book yet as my girlfriend might have to have an operation but we’ll know next month. If you find a bar in CT please post name on this blog and I’ll try and lend support for the mighty Wolves.
Does anyone know if Kmacs going to be fit for Derby?
Of course he is.
That new contract he signed explicitly stated that he will not be available to play for them losers north of the border, and any call ups will be met with a bad back!
The good old bad-back excuse! Good job Roy Keane isn’t Scotland manager. When asked if Robbie Keane was expected to play in the Ireland v Germany match, in spite of his wife having just given birth, Keano said, “unless he’s breast-feeding I expect him to play”.
Any chance of Roy Keane coming to us on loan in our hour of need ?
It’s good to see that Jordan Graham is having such an effect at Oxford Utd.
I grew up watching the U’s and still have a soft spot for them.
If he can help them and get valuable game time it can only be good for everyone concerned.
On a slightly less happy note, EBanks-Landell is out for several weeks with a broken foot. Talk about chickens coming home to roost.
Do you think Fulham would loan Stears back to us?
DancesWithWolves. Hope to see you in cape town. I was there 5 yrs ago and there are loads of bars on the V and A waterfront. One of them definitely had uk footy on because i watched tranmere v wolves in there in the fa cup 3rd round. Will go on google and see if i can refresh my memory!
Wow! I should go more to non internet Ibiza…
Suddenly we are a different team.
Price is another Messi in the making.
Come to think of it good news wolves v reading boxin day on telly 5.15. I will be in Durban SA for boxing day test .wolves game will be on at 7.15 ideal. If i can still see …..
Danny Baath.. ‘Derby, a lot of experienced professionals’…’We are an academy based team’..if ever there was any doubt re Wolves strategy for the future…
That was a KJ quote…
So be it..
Bedford .. Don’t know about ipshit , but I leave the mol north bank at ten to five . Go to my van in the goal post car park and bomb down the m 40 and I am back in amersham at 7 15 .
That keeps Mrs london wolf loyal sweet . If you are ever stuck I could meet you at junction and give you a lift if it did not slow me down too much
London – your journey sounds easier than ours, still a bleeding long way though! Takes us two hours to drive from Bedford – not aided by the M1 having a 50 mph limit for something like 28 miles due to ‘roadworks’ (even though have never yet met anyone who has ever seen anyone actually working on the road – plenty of cones, in fact thousands of them, but no actual person actually working) – so if by some miracle we ever happen to manage to have a Saturday 3pm kick off we leave at 11am to park in Birch Street for 1pm, then a short walk to have lunch in a Thai restaurant meeting up with some local Wolves fans we know (£6.95 for two courses and its pretty great food too!) before walking the 5 minutes or so to the Mol. Return journey means we normally get home by 730pm. So an eight and a half hour day all in all to watch one and a half hour’s football.
I am in the North Bank too – where do you sit, upper or lower? I am lower. May be able to say hello some time in the concourse?
Any way …. I was always ok with the wolves being owned by Steve Morgan .. I was the same as Colin , although I thought we should have been a bit higher with wages so as kenny could get his first choices ( we’re pretty good with what we could attract and Morgan’s accedamey legacy of cause . )
But what appears to have happened is that he has given up his football club over a girl .
What a pathetic man he turned out to be !
If he was in our gang at work and he announced over breakfast in the cafe one Monday morning … I’m giving up being involved in football as my new girl friend doesn’t like me being involved
He would never hear the last of it
We have a saying at work .. It doesn’t matter how beautiful they are ..there s always someone fed up with ……… Her and putting up with all her s!!t .
Compromise .. Maybe! . ,.but turn your back on the wolves . Never !!
F o Morgan if that’s what you re all about
LWF, agree 100%
I am on wife number 4 and she is the only one who has any idea whatsover about the life of being a Wolves fan. Thats why she is still wife number 4, but number 1 in reality!!
Got her so brainwashed that one evening, I was watching Match of the Day, she was three parts asleep, snuggled deep in my arms, when those dreaded words “West Brom” were heard on the tv
Without stirring, or waking, there came a muffled
” Fuck Off ” from her delicate mouth.
Priceless!!
She sounds like an amazing girl
A lot of men would be trying to get up to all sorts if alone with a semi conscious beauty … But for her to murmur that stuff .. That’s erotic man ! Hot stuff ! I am impressed
CFH. Is Mrs number 4 from Wednesfield ?
Mr Death,
She is from St Louis, Missouri in the good ol’ US of A!!
Here is a thread from the Express and Star “Wolves boss Kenny Jackett might dip into loan market” article which I have tried to comment on but gets blocked.

Kevin Nolan? He’s a free agent but I hear Big Sam might sign him for Sunderland. He surely can’t be up to speed for the PL but maybe he could do a good job for us.
Steve Morgan may no longer be Chairman but he’s still 100% owner of Wolves and may still decide transfer policy. We all know his youth policy but did anyone hear his latest wheeze? Forget 16-year olds. Start ’em younger. Much younger. Build a crèche at Molineux (another job for Redrow of course), complete with play school. Wage cap too, maybe ten packets of jelly babies a week. Our next star striker probably hasn’t even been born yet.

“Another job for RedRow”? The Stan was built by Buckingham and the Academy by Bridgemere Group. Redrow builds houses, none of the money spent on the Stadium and Academy went anywhere near Redrow. Facts are horrible aren’t they
Here is my comment which the E & S won’t publish:-
BEOWULF
October 11, 2015 12:45 pm
Wolves are owned by Bridgemere, who also own a 40.42% stake in Redrow, [Figures taken from the Bridgemere Group Website].
Facts are horrible aren’t they.
Maybe the Academy was built by Bridgemere AKA Redrow, but the 40 odd houses crammed into the gatehouse area of the land purchased from Wolverhampton School has a 40 foot by 30 foot horardind with for sale for 1/2 million pounds from Redrow all over it.
Not Horrible, feckin obscene.
No one make 1/2 billion pounds by good old fashioned hard work, it just doesn’t happen.
Hello everyone,
My joke about a crèche at Molineux was just that, a joke! We aren’t going to sign up four-year olds. Redrow, or Bridgemere, or Steve the brickie, aren’t going to build any crèche…
And a bloody good one at that, no one on this site takes Morgan serious surely, (I know, Don’t call me Shirley)
Dearest Shirley…………………..
Am getting worried about Derby on Sunday. Just have this terrible niggling feeling that Kenny will change a winning team in order to accommodate a fit again Edwards. Probably at the expense of either Ojo or Le Fondre. Please Kenny, NO!!!!!!!
Worrying about things that ain’t happened yet is a surefire way to a course of Prozac. Try to relax Bedford, it may not happen.
I even find your reply worrying. Equally worrying is that StuWolf apparently wants to be called Shirley from now on.
Been Shirley at the weekends for some time now and my wife Nigel said “it’s time we came clean about it all”
Forget about the worrying Bedford, speak to Clive, you’ll, never worry again,
BedfordWolf – Shoot me down for saying it but I’d probably rather see Afobe upfront and Edwards tucked behind than Le fondre upfront and Afobe tucked behind. I’ve yet to see many reasons why Le fondre should be on the starting sheet.
Ultimately, Afobe proved in the last two games he’s better sticking the ball in the net from the true striker position than trying to link up and create the goals from deeper. So I hope Kenny resorts to putting him up top, and having someone else support him. And I’d rather that be Edwards, than Le Fondre… but I’m sure there’s better options elsewhere in the squad. I’d be tempted to give young Enobakhare more experience as he’s generally been quite impressive.
What do you reckon?
From a Biggleswolf (Around 11 miles from you)
I actually agree with you 100% about where Afobe should play – and am also a big fan of getting Bright Enobakhare on the pitch to give him game time as, as you say, he has looked impressive the little we have seen of him so far. I am also in agreement about ALF who has looked ‘ok’ thus far but in all honestly nothing more and certainly not of the standard I think we should have been recruiting – I would have gone for the likes of Chuba Akpom or Andre Gray who are both more of the level we should be aiming for in my opinion.
However to play Afobe up top and A.N.Other in behind would mean changing a winning team which very rarely seems to end well in my experience. That is why I agree with you in many ways but am still fearful of Edwards coming in and changing things. I know it is an unpopular thought on here but I far prefer Coady to Price but at the moment I wouldn’t swap them as again why chage a winning team?
p.s. Biggleswade eh? You are near enough to be roped into the Bedford Wolves posse if you are not careful and then get lumbered with travelling to games with us, away trips by train or coach etc!
p.p.s. Apparently StuWolf now wants to be called Shirley. To his face.
Agree on your comments entirely, after all the needless tinkering of late, why change now? It’s a winning team with confidence again.
There’s a Bedford Wolves posse (more than 2 people?!?!) Wow! Count me in. My in-laws are in Bedford (sadly they’re Man Utd fans) and it does mean I spend a fair amount of time enjoying a chicken madras in the numerous and almost ridiculous number of town curry houses, and drinking plenty too – although I’m yet to find a pub I’d call a good place to watch the Wolves on Sky. Any suggestions?
On that note, I’d much rather head up to the Mol in convoy for the real experience. I may take you up on your kind invitation, if being roped in counts as an invitation, or just forced to by peer pressure! 🙂
Let me know when you’re heading up next. I’m considering the Ipshit away game in November and maybe QPR away in January. QPR you say? Surely you can’t be serious? Well I am serious, and don’t call me Shirley.
Verob,
I had occasion to drink with the Beford masses recently and they’re hard core. A great bunch and very knowledgable on all things Wolvesright back to the 50.s.
I live in Wolvo and I want to join their gang as the female member.
Thanks for the warning Shirley. My knowledge of Wolves is limited to recent times but my father has followed them all his life. Needless to say there’s a lot I feel I could learn from the hardcore posse of Bedford origin. Most people in Bedford are pretty hardcore in my experience so this isn’t exactly a revelation.
Definitely consider yourself invited. As for our posse of 2 – here is a list off the top of my head of Bedford Wolves members; me, obviously, my eldest son Daryl (when he is home from working in Dubai), Mike U, Tim from Bromham, Rhys and his three 20 something ‘children’ Tom, Hannah and Megan, Big Pete and his wife Karen and their two teenage girls whose names I can’t remember, Paul and Jane, Paul and Sue, James and his Polish mate Lukas (still mourns the loss of Peszko!), Dave B (aka Notts) plus 3 Wolverhampton based ‘Bedford Wolves’ Alan, Sarah and Ryan – I make that 21 I think.
Quite a few of that list are season ticket holders and so go every home match. I don’t tend to do the midweek ones due to work so for me the next trip to the Mol is 24 October v Middlesbrough and you are welcome to share a lift – will have to see who is definitely going that game and who is taking a car. As for away games a hardy bunch of us go as often as we can and this season have done Fulham and Preston and we are organising a minibus to go to Ipswich on 21 November (though most of the minibus that day might be full of old fogeys like me) and then the ‘hard core’ are going by train from Bedford to Sheff Wed away on 19 December when no doubt ‘the drink will flow’. We always welcome new people – away games are the best I find as with no worry about driving certain people (mentioning no names) can indulge themselves in beer, red wine, brandy etc which as you may imagine makes the whole experience immensely more enjoyable and memorable!
That’s certainly a posse!
Your mate Paul’s got the right idea.
I assume that he brings Jane and Sue on alternate match days.
I’ll have to see if I can sort something like that out.
Yep, that’s a posse alright. Impressive numbers and it’s great to know there’s so many other bedfordshire based bodds of the old gold following.
Thanks for kind offer of carshares – I will of course, participate when I can.
My son, 6, has just started getting into the watching of Wolves. He was at Molineux for the first time in our pre-season friendly against Villa. I bought him the away blue shirt (he loves blue) which he wears pretty much every time there’s a Wolves game on that day. So there’s often 3 generations of my family travelling to Molineux, my dad, me and my son… but not always.
I’ll drop you a message when I’m next in Bedford or planning to head to Wolves that’s for sure, be great to meet the Bedford Posse! Thanks. Have a good week
Forgot to comment on your Coady thought…
When I saw Coady early in the season I thought he looked every bit the midfielder we were looking for – strong tackler, quick and good on the ball and thought with Maccas’ passing style it could be an awesome midfield partnership. Since then, I read reports and hear others saying he’s not been so great but I do wonder whether Coady’s performance demise has been a byproduct of the tinkering, injuries, selling of players that left us looking short of confidence in the team.
Now we’re out of that rut, I believe he should have a chance to step into the current team to see if his strong early performances return. This is nothing against Price but Coady is just a much more aggressive in-your-face and intimidating character to have in the middle of the park (and we need that).
That said, doing this against Derby in our next game is not worth the risk and I’d agree with sticking with the winning team until we have a more suitable opportunity to give him a shift.
Can’t wait for Sunday! I hope the international break doesn’t f**k us over like it usually does!
What worries me is how he found out that’s what we call him anyway.
I wonder if KJ ever walks in to the changing room after the game and politely injects with…
“Just wanted to let you know, Good Luck, we’re all counting on ya!”
Hot off the press……
http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/10/12/kenny-jackett-hints-at-upcoming-transfer-activity-at-wolverhampt/?
I ll shoot you down .. I think lefondre is going to be a good player for us .. It looks to me as he s starting to bed down now . I don’t think he s been match fit at the start of the season . He s got some nice touches around the box and it won’t be long before those touches will be in the net . New club . New system of play for him . Confidence growing and fitness returning all the time . It was nt very long ago that he was a very good player .
Wow, a patient Wolves fan. A rare species indeed. 🙂
Lo wo lo: I don’t regard that as a shoot down – far too polite and non-aggressive! But thanks for the comment.
I’m happy to give ALF the chances. I’ve got a soft spot for Reading you see (due to family being down that way) and I thought he was great at Reading. All I’m saying is I don’t think we’ve seen what we hope he’s capable of but he’s running out of time. If KJ does dip into the loan market it’ll be for a CB and/or a striker. If a credible striker comes in, he’ll find it a harder slog getting onto the teamsheet unless he starts making a big contribution.
The time is now. I do hope he takes it!
Bedford ,, I am lower tier NL2 . Half time beer sometime soon eh ? !
So Stu/Shirley calls his boss and says
” I cant come in to work today, I’m sick”
His boss asks
“How sick are you?”
Stu replies
“I’m in bed with my sister”
Any of you bloggers out there coming to Derby or am I on my own?
I am – I am buying Jen’s ticket am I not?
Yes matey, consider said ticket sold to the ex squaddie from Catterick.
I will pick it up in the next couple of hours and text you.
Well, that’s two of us gooin.
🙂
Yo, Shirley,
You pay my airfare and hotel and I will be your date to Derby
You stood me up last time I sent a cheque.
Ok one last chance. I will pop the cheque in the post Saturday.
5-1 to us me thinks.
🙂
It’s all happening away from the Molineux, Dominic Iorfa comes on for the U21s in the 80 th minute, races up the line and puts in a sweet cross England 3-0.
That’s sorted out the Dave Ewards coming back into the team debate. He’s gone off at half time playing for Wales having pulled his groin.. KJ won’t be a happy bunny. Too many injuries!
Couple in on loans methinks.
Wolves are on the rise
