Nine months is an eternity to wait for a home league win, so it’s fitting that Wolves ended the drought in style.

Sure there were moments of hesitancy, the odd lapse in concentration, but this performance served as a timely reminder that these players, at this level, can get the job done.
Case in point, Stephen Ward.
Is there a better attacking full-back in this league? After sauntering forward to calmly slot home the opener, he never looked back. His interchange with Jarvis and driving runs forward from deep were the standout feature of a strong team performance.
Ebanks-Blake – another from the 2008 vintage – enjoyed his best game for a very long time, holding the ball up supremely, bringing others into play and doing what he does better than anyone else in the Championship – finding the net. I saw nothing to suggest he won’t get a bagful again this season.
His supply line was much better tonight. Jarvis didn’t have his best game, but his pace and trickery will always cause defenders headaches. We’ll need a strong replacement if he leaves.
Peszko drifted in and out but two assists, including an inch perfect cross for Dave Edwards to nod in the third demonstrates that his strength ultimately lies in his final ball. Would like to have seen him more involved though.
Doumbia and Henry controlled the center of midfield for the most part, which was pleasing to see. When they were withdrawn, the momentum did slightly fizzle out. Being uber critical, I thought they were taken off prematurely. Edwards (despite his goal) and Davis didn’t have the same impact.
Berra was correctly recalled to the side and he at least went about his business with a modicum of assurance. I was pleased to see the manager take decisive action after an uncomfortable display from Stearman on Saturday. Undoubtedly though, we still require strengthening at the back.
Despite our second half dominance, it wasn’t a great surprise to see Ikeme left completely exposed for Barnsley’s consolation. On more than a few occasions, particularly first half, there was far too much space both in front and behind the back four. But for a few last ditch blocks, we could easily have gone in at the break level, or worse.
But I don’t want to dwell on the particulars, because, well, why would I? We won.
And Ståle reckons winning is a habit.
He’s not wrong about that.
I’d like another one Saturday please.

Lets just enjoy this moment. A win. I don’t doubt for a moment there will be more. We still have a sufficient squad to compete for top place. But winning always makes it a good day
In fairness to Stale, both Henry and Dumbia both signalled to the bench that they were injured and I saw Doumbia with an ice pack on his thigh after the game. Didn’t look serious as he walked around but with the performance he put in, you can understand wanting to keep him fit for Saturday
A win is a win so I left the Molineux tonight feeling well happy. Well done Wolves !!!
I’ll take a home win and 3 points anyday, but being remote from being able to attend or even get a decent match report within 24 hours I rely on you lads for some feedback. Did BBS get a run? How was Doyle? Was Jarvo up for it? Did Berra play for the club despite his situation? Are Pesko and Doumbia looking the real deal? Is Wardy, as Thomas eluded really beginning to look his worth as a good option at LB after all the slating I have read elsewhere? Lots of questions I know but any feedback will be gratefully received. Like NY Wolf and the regular poster from Houston (Clive?) we rely a good deal on you Woles faithfull closer to the action. My 73 year old season ticket dad who first tookme at 7 years old in the cowshed ( not as though it will ever gat called that again ) and my elder brother were both there tonight, but it is too late with the time difference to call them. so hopefully I can wake up to some comments tomorrow, which I will not be reading at work, promise.
Sounded a reasonably convincing win from what I have managed to read / hear and I guess I have the WolvesPlayer highlights to look forward to once they are uploaded tomorrow (Wednesday for most of you )
Onwards and Upwards. In Stale we trust, Out of Darkness Commeth Light< Come on Me Babbies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In answer to your plea for some critical analysis of the Wolves win last night, after a lot of thought I’ve come up with mine.
YEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! COME ON YOU WOLVES!!!!!!!!
Sigurdarson made an appearance yes and managed to hit the bar with a superb header from a Jarvis Corner. Watching him play he’s an exceptionally skilful player. Attempts lots of lovely flicks and backheels.. but here’s the clincher.. they were actually coming off! Can see him becoming a very talented forward.
Jarvis I thought was marked out as they’d clearly marked his card and stuck two men on him. He managed to break through multiple times however. Huge void will be left if he leaves. Peszko I thought looked just as potent an attacking threat as Kightly was and his cross for the third couldn’t have been more perfect. Berra was a brick wall compared to Stearman and currently I believe he and johnson are our strongest CB pair. Doyler was the only player I can say wasn’t quite up to scratch. He didn’t play badly by any stretch but he wasn’t overly involved. Ward, SEB and Henry were superb and a special mention to Doumbia who’s work rate was absolutely fantastic.
Great game. Loved watching it. More of the same please
Apologies… I seem to have hijacked your comment with a huge one of my own…
” Out of darkness cometh light ” I like it US Wolf !!!
Where are you based US Wolf?
A win!! Crikey. I’ve clean forgotten what to say next. Oh yes, now it comes back to me: Well played the lads!
As to: “… an inch perfect cross for Dave Edwards to nod in the third demonstrates that [Peszko’s] strength ultimately lies in his final ball.”, well I am speechless. Can Jarvo quickly learn some Polish so that he too can get in on this act?
I’d expected a nervy win but this one was as comfortable as anything – perfect! More of the same vs Derby would be grand! 🙂
On another note by the way – I’m not going to have comp access when the Derby preview comes up so can I place my 3-0 win prediction here for it to be carried forward? Thanks! 🙂
No comp access, going anywhere nice young man?
Somewhere rural up north, have no idea how to spell the name of the place! 😛 Basically my mum needs the break!
Good lad. Hope you both havely time!
You know what i mean.
haha, yes I do! And thanks – my brother’s going as well! 🙂 Family fun and all that!
Yes! A win! Cannot complain, for me Jarvis & Ward were the danger & Barnsley gave them all the space they needed. Jarvis with his speed will be a toughie to replace, he is genuinely a player who can turn games. Thought Doumbia was excellent, think he is only 22 & it looks like he is the main man on the ball coming back to recieve from defence pushing on in attack, he will be an important player this season. Peszko drifts in & out of the game but does make decisive contributions, he will get better with more games. He seems to play good exchanges with Sigurdson who hit the bar near the end with a great header from a top cross from Jarvis.
Doyle does look off his game, and needs a goal or two. Berra must be praised for his commitment after the boos from the crowd at the Aldershot game, he can be clumsy but he does have guts & put in a sound performance.
The main point though both from this & the Leeds game is the massive gulf in levels between Prem teams & our current opposition. It is massive. I remember a comment from Karl Henry who said in the championship you can relax at some moments, in the Prem one lapse in concentration & you`re a goal down. As a fan it is more relaxing in this league, at times for Wolves this was a stroll in the park. If this carries on I can see me putting my feet up in the Billy Wright confident that the game is won. It is only Wolves’s determination to make things difficult for themselves that they did`nt put the game to bed before Edwards`s 3rd goal.
Is there a better attacking full back in the league than Stephen Ward,Thomas? Possibly not. Is there a worse defending full back in the league? Possibly not.
I admit i’ve only seen the goals of this match, but Barnsley’s came yet again from our left side when Ward made another pathetic attempt to block the cross. I’m sorry, but this is just basic and he can’t do it. This is not Ward bashing, it’s not his fault, he’s playing in the wrong position. Bring in a real defender and push him forward when Jarvis goes; get the best out of Ward and tighten up the defence at the same time.
I know we’re all elated with the win because it’s been so long, but Barnsley will be right down there by the end of the season and we can’t afford to let in goals like that against better sides. And i’m fed up with us gifting opposition goals, whether we win or not.
Sounds like Peszko was in and out but remember he hasn’t had apre-season and he can only get better. But the cross for Edwards was different class; inch perfect and curling onto the head of the goal scorer. Jarvis should take lessons.
Great result but there’s still plenty to do defensively. Glad to see Berra do ok though. Did the fans lay off him this time?
There were a few boos towards Berra but more cheers – and Stale seems as displeased at the conceded goal as you – which I like since it shows;
a) We’re not gonna be complacent
b) Stale knows where the team needs to improve
Ward still cannot defend and is a liability at the back, he’ll be at fault for more goals this season than he scores/creates
Great result must have lifted the players, but it was Barnsley. Like SS not getting carried away.
Bigger picture is to resolve whether Fletch and Jarvis go and if they do to back the manager-whose recruiting policy looks a lot sounder than previous encumbants.
Only then can we even think of pushing on. We need 4 or 5 players at least, probably more if all dross is
sold/loaned.
UTW.
I had been dreaming about the first goal since last season and Wardii was unucky not to get more. He has truly reinvented the role of left back. Johnson continues on his path to redemption by using all parts of his body to deny the opposition a goal. Tongo continues to impress and Zubar don’t you just want to hug him.
Thanks guys for all the excellent reports and comment. Just means everything out here.
So it looks like Jarvis and Fletcher are packed and ready. I dodnt want to see em go but am telling myself they wont be missed as much as we fear. You do need superlative strikers in the Prem as they have so little time. I think in the champ a more ordinary striker can do it .
I rate Jarvis very highly and he can definitley skin most defenders, dont forget his final ball and crosses were not always what we hoped. My dissapointment is that if they go and we go up, we start all over again.
Pleased for Ward, have always respected his work rate, and effort. Always liked to see him supporting the attack. But scoring a goal still does not convince me he is close to being a good enough left back. We might just get away with it at this level but is that what we want. I dodnt want to see him leave, I think he is a good squad player who can cover most positions (according to MM) but unless he has improved tremendously he is at best an emergency left back.
Much more encouraging last night than the first two games of the season. Ikeme looked sound but not sure about him for a whole season and it’s a gamble on Hennessey getting fit again after such a big injury. I would assume De Vries is on his way by the fact that SS has started the season with Ikeme instead. Ward and Zubar will continue to contribute going forward and can’t fault either of their desire but neither are natural full backs and god can’t you tell. Johnson looked far more comfortable with Berra alongside him than Stearman but the back four still look vulnerable to the occasional attack from a poor Barnsley team so new signings definitely needed. Henry and Doumbia looked really solid but both play so deep that we struggle to link the centre of midfield with forward line. Doumbia was outstanding last night and hopefully we’ll see more of his running with the ball in a bit more advanced positions as he plays a bit more. Jarvo looks to be on his way and although he wasn’t our best player last night, they doubled up on him most of the time so just his presence on the pitch is our biggest threat to the opposition. MASSIVE boots to fill! The new pole looks really tidy and quite similar to Kightly. SEB will always score goals at this level and will only benefit from more games and goals. Doyle has been crap in the 3 games so far but if we can get him fit and firing he should be a major player in this league so probably worth persevering with for a bit. Fairly inevitable that Fletcher will go as well and free up what should be a fair bit of money. However, I think we’re being fed the party line that the thing preventing us bringing in new players is the sheer number of players we’ve got on the books at the moment, not the lack of money available. I think we may see a direct replacement for Jarvo and maybe a loan centre half along with 3 or 4 squad players leaving either permenantly or on loan. All added up that’ll be £20m+ in the building coffers and a decent team but not with enough strength in depth to cope with injuries, suspensions, etc. Sorry folks, Essay finished.
A lot of you on this blog will not remember Mattress Busby of Manchester United fame, but he had a very simple philosophy which was to let the creative players create, and always go out to outscore the opposition. Sounds silly really, but what it meant was that they were always capable of banging in goals left, right and centre.
Heres a radical thought for us.
According to greasel we dont need to sell our best players.
We have a bunch of forwards who are extremely useful in the air, and two good wingers who can deliver telling crosses.
Why not make all of our lot honour their contracts, and play 5 up front?
With Fletcher, Siggy and Fatty Blake lining up for the crosses, we could have our eager left back, alongside Tongy and Henry (if he knows where the opposition box is ) sniffing up the scraps.
Lets have an all out attacking policy, and then it wont matter how many goals we let in, we’ ll always score more!!
And if the want aways dont or wont play, then stick ’em in the stiffs to sit out their contracts….and then see how much they are “worth”.
We could also paint faces blue, like Braveheart, and do the Chuckee thing and dance around like the All Blacks before kick off!
Been smoking too much funny baccy.
FOWB
I hear you Clive,
Remember Sir Matts benevolent atitude to George Best, turning up late for training, hung over and in last nights party gear. “Look at least he is here give him some coffee and a ball and let him kick around when he feels like it. All I care about is what he does for me on a Saturday afternoon” No one got the best out of Georgie after Busby left.
Mind you you did have a pretty solid defence and good full backs.
I do beleive players should not dictate and should be made to play out their contracts.
If there is one good thing about NFL ‘Merican throwball is that they have incredibly strict contract rules, and they generally seem to work. No one in the game, teams, coaches or anyone is allowed to mention or discuss any player who is contracted to another team. It is totally of limits until they are a free agent. It stops all Fergies tricks of sending messages to players that he is interested or otherwise unsettling. Dont ask me all the detail I aint that interested, but i do know it works. I believe players can choose to sit out their contract but do not get paid and i think have to sit out another year before they can be eligible to play again.
To all ex pats in the USA, I mentioned earlier that Saturday breakfasts are not the same without good TV coverage of the men in Gold.
With Thomas’s understanding I did just want to alert all ex pats in the USA who struggled for years without good old English Pies and meats.
In Buffalo, NY we have a Brit couple who for a couple of years have built up a fantastic business, supply all English breakfast meats, the best PorkPie i have had outside the Midlands.
Check out “The English Pork Pie Company” on line. Not cheap but worth it. Supplying throughtout the USA and will ship. Mention Gerald from Rochester and I might get a few extra bangers next time.
Sorry Thomas but hope you will understand this is a mercy link for all Wolves fans out here.
PS: Decent Black Pudding to.
A reassuring win at long last, and doesn’t it make you feel a bit better, more relaxed about what is to come. I think the RAMS may pose a different challenge however but it’s good to see our solid championship players feel more at ease now, rather than on edge every week in the PL. I hope Ståle has his feet firmly on the ground and a list of signings which have been awaiting the proceeds of inevitable departures.
As ever UTW !!!!

åååååååååå……….
With the indications Jarvo is of to WHU, I got thinking as to why he wants to go there and why they are so much more attractive than us long term.
It can only be money and perhaps maybe close to family.
I am not sure I see WHU have any guaranteed presence in the Prem. Thwy are pretty much broke, and in debt. Does he reaqlly want to play “Big Sam Ball” that bad. On top of this they are about to embark on an ill considered attempt to move to Olympic Park.
It must be money or lack of conviction about us.
Definitely money. The next 3 years will be the biggest earning 3 years of his life so he’ll get what he can while he can. We all would when push came to shove I reckon.
Cant argue with that. I hope he reads the fine print and has good advice. Might include a lot of add ons. Still they can not be anymore “prudent” than us. I wish him well but I think he will moving again come end of season.
I agree mate. That lot didn’t exactly leave Blues in the greatest of states and seem intent on chucking money round for fun at the moment!
He’s a Gillingham lad and has been a WHU fan since a child.
Good luck to him we have to build a new team too.
Looks like Jonnson, Milijas, Berra, Hamill want out. Craddock to old? 5 players.
Fletcher to go for 13 million. Jarvis to go for 10 million. Kightly already gone. Vokes already gone. 4 players.
Solakken wants a smaller squad but 5 a side plus the younsters surely isnt the plan!
Fingers crossed for quality being bought in. A right back, a centre back, a right and left winger and one more in centre midfield. 5 players.
Say bye bye to Elokobi, say bye bye to Hunt, unless he can find his form again.
Blood the youngsters, sign up Zele.
Throw in the three signings Solbakken has already bought.
I meant a left back, not a right back.
Thank God mate you had me worried about that
Great to get that first win under our belts but we must be expected to beat the likes of Barnsley at home if we are to be considered realistic promotion contenders.
Looks like Sunderland and West Ham may have met our asking price(s) for Fletcher and Jarvis. £25M in the coffers which is a healthy profit on our outlay. It seems a lot but these two are premiership quality, the sort of players we will need back in the premiership, hopefully next year. Surely if we were serious about promotion and establishing ourselves in the premiership we would be holding onto players like this AND buying other players of premiership quality to back them up. I’m still struggling to get my head around this.
Probably 10 million and 13 million. 15% to previous clubs. Taking in 20 million, and that will be in installments. Still good business though.
Totally agree. That kind of win welcome and pleasing as it is must be expected rather than hoped for.
Yes it worries me cashing in our proven Prem players if we are planning and budgeting for a quick return.
This is definitly my concern with Jez, its like OK we are in the Championship so all I have to pay for is a team to be competitive (I hope) in this Div. Then if we go up I will have to think about it when we get there. Yes it make good business sense but is hardly a succesful strategy for a sustainable Premier stay. If we do go up I really dont see him spending the $30/40 we would need just to compete. Maybe SS has a better plan though.
I guess the money to previous clubs is only based on the profit not the total sale.
Totally Agree mate.
That has been our problem all along…
Championship players in the premier league.
To stay in that league, you need to spend and spend big.
Not just on transfers but wages too.. Its a fact of life.
The board and most fans don’t want that, they are happy at “This Level”
A couple of years ago we were beating the top six in the prem, including Man Utd..
Now we are more than happy to beat barnsley at home… Progress indeed Mr Morgan.
Still it felt good anyway last night, and I think this manager could be something big.. I just hope Morgan and Moxey allow him to be..
Most fans happy in the Championship? Um… yeah, that’s wrong! And remember the Barnsley win was our first home win since December! 😛
Delighted with the win. The best aspect for me was the workrate and commitment of all the players which was sadly lacking in the Aldershot match. I was beginning to be worried that there was something behind the scenes, maybe not accepting or understanding Stale’s philosophy, which was causing them to be rather lacklustre, but last night they really worked like a team and the atmosphere was wonderful.
There have been some rather negative comments about Kevin Doyle, but I thought he played better than I have seen him for ages. Not at his best yet, agreed, but he’ll get there. I really like this player and I hope he makes a major contribution this season.
Oh what a feeling, as Lionel Richie would say, finally a win and in front of our home fans, this should give us a massive lift. Well done boy’s for proving me wrong. I had this one down as a draw, after watching the Leeds game I was pessimistic that we would get much if anything from this game.
I do love you Wolves so very much, but boy you don’t make it easy!
Very happy with the win…and to be proved wrong with my prediction! Well done lads…keep up the good work…two wins in a row with the Derby game? 🙂
So it seems a 14mil good buy to Fletch is in order. Good business…but still feels a little bitter sweet! Still…onwards and upwards!
UTW
Finally victory and a manager who talks sense!
Can we make it two in a row on Saturday?
How long since we strung two victories together?
Jarvo and Fletch on their way but who is too come in?
Now the real work starts to get in some decent defenders.
The Moxoid-surely not of this planet-has to come up with the goods so SS can weave his magic.
Think we will all be hoping for once M gets it right this time.
Your right Alf,
Now I want to see if Jez has been multi tasking and has got the pipe line full for for SS or has just been sat on his arse saying no to sunderland and WHU
I’m hoping Ståle has already his targets and moxey is in ‘negotiation’. There is only a week left, realistically, of the transfer window.
Wasn’t it great watching us against a team who frequently give the ball away and when we lose it they don’t punish us instantly. I reckon I’ll enjoy this (hopefully one) season in the chumpionship.
Tried out the new stand last night. Nice view and big concourse area, but miss the singing in the South Bank and getting crushed whilst trying to go for a pint and a piss at halftime. Felt a bit of a Kightly judas and will return to the South Bank on my next visit.
Anyone fancy Ince from Blackpool? Surely his old man would put a good word in for us?
As owner, CEO, technical director, footballing director, manager and first team coach of Monkey Island Wanderers (this directed at all of you playing in the fantasy football league), I would like to take this opportunity to say “WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE”.
Please note: I have to gloat now, prior to my habitual and inevitable slide towards mid-table mediocrity which happens to me every season, in every fantasy league I take part in!!
Come now, Hamlet FC was top of the league as well…for two days! 😛
with us getting best part of 20m for 2 players, we need some better players in like Ince and Phillips from Blackpool. Also would have liked us to go for Basong, but a good CB is a must. If Foley is fit put him RB as Zubz is another Elokobi just not good enough. Manchester Wolves
Fantastic win and about time, now lets kick on and beat derby on saturday then who knows we
can buy some more player’s after the sale of the crown jewels by ( their own choice).my only hope is that moxey gives stale ALL the money required to attract the very best he can buy to
replace and improve the team and squad, with all that in place maybe we can make a swift return to where we belong back in the premiership.UTW.
Great win. Good to feel good walking away from ground with everyone talking about the positives but……. It was barnsley who are one of the favourites for relegation. Also i couldnt help thinking all through the match we have found our level as a football club. Our comfort zone. A big fish in a small pond. No longer dining at the top table and happy with that, become a feeder club to clubs like sunderland and west ham. But, at least we beat barnsley at home. Heres to more 2nd tier wins.
What worries me is that we are only 8 or 9 days away from the deadline, and until greasel sells, he wont let us buy, which may be too late to get in anyone useful.
Typical greasel tactics, methinks!! Keep the money so his bottom line looks good, and thank you very bonus!!
Fat c…!
Ha ha. Brilliant. If our esteemed lard arse puts £25m in the bank and it earns 5% a year, this is £1.25m in interest per year. This is one of the reasons why the club is leaving the sales until the end of the window and
then as others have said, they will say its too late to get any quality in before close of window.
The sad thing is so predictable, and we all could write his announcement.
Its not easy, it was a slow market, clubs wouldnt sell the players we wanted (no not at the price you were prepared to pay). We only want to buy to improve (yeh we know we have seen it) and so on and so on. Then he will blame S.Land and West Ham for taking so long. He will spin us anything.
If we spend over £10m with or without the sale of jarvis and fletcher before the end of window i will curl one out and eat it (i feel very confident this wont be happening)
Oh well, it’s official. Fletcher’s dumped Wolves and gone to Sunderland. I’m an old, old fan and sorely miss the days when loyalty to a club really meant something. Fletcher has bolted and left us all to it but nobody can force me to like it.
Well good fuckin’ riddance, I say!!!
He was that good he helped Burnley, then us get relegated. He didnt score a lot of goals for us and he wont this season either.
Got to admit a good bit of bizzo by greasel, ( if in fact he had anything to do with it) and let’s hope the money is ALL spent on new players.
I agree 100% with the loyalty thing.
Look at Bully, Johnny Richards, Frank Munro, Waggy, all the stars from the fifties,
Look at The Doog, who moved on after 2 years at most of his clubs….until he came to the Mol, where he was worshipped.
Now the only ones who stay are them as no one else wants. Are you reading this, Mr. Ward?
Anyway, changing the subject slightly, I sat and watched Chelsea cheat Reading tonight
( memo to self: get a life ) and didja see that Essex thug Terry get away with the most cynical foul since his last one, when he tripped that bloke in the first half, and didnt even get booked.
Although the free kick ended in a goal, he should have been off, and Reading could have won that, especially as Fred Torres was miles offside for their third.
Makes yer blood boil, and we aint even in the Prem any more!!
Right, off to Boddingtons!!
Have a nice day, y’all
And as ever, FOWB
Yes, Clive, bloody good riddance to Fletcher. It’s become increasingly apparent that he doesn’t give a tuppenny damn one way or the other about what happens to Wolves and that makes him a shitehawk of the first water.
I think Fletcher going was inevitable, but in Sigurdarson we have theoretically got a replacement, so I’m not massively concerned.
Jarvis however is a totally different matter and I really hope he isn’t sold to West Ham. Who would replace him? Forde?
Not to be negative, but I also share in others’ lack of faith that there is time/willingness on the ownership’s part to spend money on the squad. We’ve seen it time and time again!
I will be VERY surprised if defensive reinforcements join in the next 8 days, so that’ll now be the umpteenth transfer window where we haven’t strengthened the one area of the team that needs it!
To all of you knocking our CE – aka The Lardster – I note that a number of rival fans are amazed at the prices we have extracted for Fletcher and Jarvis. Like it or not there are few players who put club loyalty before their own self-interest. They were bound to go. I am convinced we shall be buying and agree with the list of areas we need to strengthen. Undoubtedly we shall not get as much quality down the left wing whoever we bring in and SS has rightly acknowledged this. I am sure we shall build in different ways but feel confident the Board will agree to release at least £10 million which should sort out the defensive frailties and improve the spine of the team.
Despite the significant failings last year I think the club is in good hands and we shall progress. If we don’t make the top six I shall eat my words. But this is the Divison form Hell and we should not expec t to walk back into the Prem.
Alan, Bang on with your last para. which makes last years fiasco so ridiculous. Players who could have helped out on loan. Plenty of time to fix when MM went but we just made it worse.
Alan, He has got decent fees for both, but good players sell themselves plus ultimately it is a market driven thing.Sky money increases by 70% next season. Clubs will be desperate to stay in the Prem and transfer prices will increase even further come next Jan.
A good CE would have made sure we stayed in the Prem and then we would have earned a lot more money than they got in selling our best two players.
I would hope the money is given to ss. He has shrewdly added to the squad thus far. He also has the added advantage of contacts on the continent. Looking back at the workmanlike players of mm, they did a job but there was always a lack of flair . Good shift as we found out was not enough to consistently compete in the prem.Seeing frimpong was a breath of fresh air til his injury….. I had prayed for someone who would win the ball then push forward incisively ! I’m sure ss has targets for this role , i fear Doumbia will sit too deep again.Obviously the need of a natural left back and a game reading centre half. Another striker like McCormick would be worth the money. Would love to see some bold purchases or even offers. Let’s build for promotion and onwards. Faith in stale!
Must check out them pork pies by the way!! Sure the Missis will complain but what’s new
I filled out an order today, and the shipping cost doubled the price.
I will wait until ‘er indoors is back from Canada, with a large cosmopolitan down her neck before I tell her!!
Looking forward to smothering a porkie pie with Heinz salad cream, which is readily available in lottsa places here, and then a full monty, sosidges, bacon, …the lot!!
Cosmopolitan? A five syllable word for such a small willy!!!
But at least I have one!!!
And I have a tongue,
That’s 10 inches long,
And I’ve learned to breath through my ears!!!
Yep,
The shipping is a killer, we collect or they deliver to our local genuine authentic British Pub. Shipped in pieces from Sheffield. They also sell through Brit shops but prices are marked up. Yanks amaze me, tell em about Pork Pies and they pull faces, but when we serve em at any party or do we have. They scoff the lot and lick lips, but they dodnt buy em.
Around here a hell of a lot of ex pat brits local Superstores have a Brit and European section so we can get most we miss.
Back to business, I rate Fletcher but we wont miss him in this division. Jarvo was great in full flight for entertainment, but I was always disappointed with the cross or final ball. Let all the buggers who want to leave sod off. As some said the problem is we are left with them that no one else wants.
Give SS a chunk of change to spend and give the youngsters a chance. Its time to see what our much vaunted Academy has actually produced. Not too much from what has come thru recently although MM never gave em a chance. Not always true but if they got it they should be knocking on the door at 18/19 not going out on loan at 22. Maybe now we are in a competitive reserve leagu things will change
Never mind pork pies – can you get Marmite?
I couldn’t live anywhere that didn’t sell Marmite. They say you either love it or hate it. A bit like Mr Moxey (apart from the ‘love’ bit).
Marmite is available everywhere, though why anyone eats that shit is beyond me!
Now, marshmallow teacakes is a different kettle of jelly babies!
The only really good fish and chip was, of all places, in Homer, Alaska, about as far as you can drive without taking a ferry or a cold bath.
Halibut on a stick, it was, and the chips were absolutely bostin’.
Tears of joy ran down me legs!!
FOWB
Do they deliver?
I can get everything here close by me in ny but pork pies Clive… had forgotten they even existed:)talkin of porkie pies I’m sure Moxey will be producing a few of his own over the next 8 days…. Of the not so tasty variety! Especially when Jarvis exits… I think hammill should be given a full season this year. At least to create competition. Why transfer him? We can’t expect a huge amount anyways.
Is there going to be any one left. Hunt wants out. Moyes interested in doyle and ward.
Can’t see Hunt going anywhere. He’s on crazy money. McCarthy was desperate to sign him for months before we got him and made him one of our highest paid players. He’s done bugger all to justify that and there’s no way any other mugs will pay him anything like what we are. He’d have to take a wage cut wherever he went and I can’t see that happening. I’d pay someone to take him personally. Fuckin useless article!
Carl, I agree Hunt’s legs have gone, but it isn’t true that he has done nothing for us.He scored that second goal against Blackburn, which kept us in the Prem for another year, and hence earned the club an extra £40m plus. This gave us a wonderful opportunity to truly establish ourselves in the top flight, but this opportunity was wasted as a result of decisions made at Board level to prioritise on new infrastructure, rather than building a football team.
What matters now is how well [ and on what],we spend the Fletcher and Jarvis money.
Agree mate but I would question how much he’s contributed for a bloke who’s been one of our top earners for about 3 years. One big goal (and fuck me it was a big one!) doesn’t justify 3 years of underachieving.
Is that gonna be like an Asda special? Buy one get one free!!
We are being link with a Danish winger Christian Bolanos.

He is Costa Rican but plays in Denmark.
Has not got as much pace as Jarvo but his technique is very good. I would love to see him in our club. He fits better to the system that Ståle prefers than Jarvis.
Can’t see him coming if FC Copenhagen wins the playoff tie for Champions League against Lille. They won the first tie 1-0. And they will still compete in the Europa League if they are knocked out, so I wonder whether he aims higher than the Championship at this moment in time.
Great comment on BBC sports website re Jarvis – “10 million pounds for a player who can run fast but couldn’t pick out a cross in a church. Great deal Wolves !”. Spot on.
I got to be honest Jarvo is exciting but that was a weakness, not always an end product. But agin coaching could help and I am sure Big Sam has some.
Looks like Sunderland are new relegation favorites! Just put in a bid for big rodge now and we’ll be swapping places for sure in may!!
All this talk of pork pies makes me think Moxey will be on the blower with a huge order.
More importantly get off your fat ass Moxey and get some players in.
I am very keen to be rid of Hunt.
I thought about that, if he does the bus I will gladly send him a 3 lb Melton Mowbray cold packed by Air.
If not I will send it by the slowest bloody means possible so its nice and green and growing.
Yes we can get Marmite, Bovril,Oxo, Vimto, Iron bru and Ornage Lucozade (My fave)
MON wants Johnson???? you must be kidding!!!!!!!!!!! Bite his hand of Jez
Well I thought the mantra was sell before buying. Now we have sold surely they must players
lined up. If not and the selling continues SS will be a very unhappy bunny and so will all of us.
Spot on NY about Moxey and the pork pie.
I agree with Martin`s early post above about Ward, defensively he is, even at Championship level appalling, lacking in pace and mobility, still stands too far of the wingers, incredible how MM gave him 3 years at left back in the prem.
As for attacking – to his credit he saw the keepers throw and intercepted very well, but his lack of pace seriously means he can`t be a candidate for the left wing spot, his crossing in the second half was awful.
Don`t think the manager will be fooled by his goal, i`m sure we have a proper left back waiting for the two `stars` to be sold. Now for a pacy centre half and a replacement for Jarvis. If those new lads coming in are better than what is already at the Mol, then we should be having many more enjoyable results this season, lets hope so anyway !!
in my eyes fletchers a glory hunting bastard,he has no loyalty to any club all he wants to do is leave clubs when they are doing bad, eg- burnley get relegated fletcher leaves for us we get relegated fletcher leaves for sunderland and if sunderland get relegated then he will leave at least jarvis didnt hand in requests and refuse to play and came off the pitch happy not like fletcher the fucking glory hunter. also one minute moxey says that we arent selling jarvo or fletcher next minute they both go and also the greedy bastard will keep 75% of that , in my eyes we need to get a new board al we have are fat lying bastards
Yup and you can include his country in that as well. Blew of Scotland.
I saw a report somewhere SS is already going public to ask for a good share of the money. Dont like the sound of this, doesnt he already know how much he is getting or does he have to do an Oliver to jez everytime. Please Sir i want a couple of quid to repalce Fletcher and Jarvis.
Her you go heres 25K bring me some change
exactly he will have silly shit to get a good squad 🙁 ss has an unmanageble team
you got it hit on the spot its starting to look like ss has got an impossible job
Now that fletch & jarvo’s gone.i only hope that tight wad moxey will give ample funds for stale to replace the players we’ve lost with quality and not cheap make do’s just for moxey to say,we tried to get x&y but they where to expensive,.lets splash the cash and be done with it
and if it dose’nt work out then so what we have’nt spent money from the coffer’s its only profits from sales.so give stale what he wants and let him try and get us back to the promised
land i hope..
This is where we see if Ståle is strong enough to get what he wants !!! He must justify beyond any shadow of doubt that who he wishes to buy is an essential part of his rebuilding and re-establishing of WW as a team that will continue to develop over the next 2-3 years.
As a club we have had too many random purchases over the last 10-12 years which have not come up to their supposed expectations. Unfortunately the present squad still contains several of these players on good wages who seldom play and who are blocking the progress of younger more hungry individuals.
JM is there to be prudent and sensible with funds but put a well thought out and balanced request in front of him and he will not be able to refuse. Now we’ll see if Ståle is worth his salt.
These are exciting times for us.
As ever UTW !!!!
Cwmbran,
While I agree your points. There is only so much a Manager can do to persuade his CEO.
Mick was there so long because he accepted the status quo and didnt rock the boat.
Good Footballing CEOs have to look after the pennies for sure but they also have to back the Managers and find ways to deliver within reason the players he wants. I am more confident of SS putting a good case for the right guys forward than I am of Jez backing him . As you say if he has a strong personality he will present a good case, but if he isn’t backed he is going to give up and walk after a while. I am alreay thinking he/we have been already knocked back a couple of times. Contrast this with Big Sams statement he told his board he wanted Jarvo and they figured out a way to deliver. I regret but Jez runs the club like a sweetie shop not a Football Club supposedly with ambition. Lets just hope I am wrong.
As I told my buddy jokingly (I hope) we could have the best stadium that his local team Cheltenham might get to visit in league matches, and i am not tipping them to get to the Championship anytime yet.
