There was a time, not so long ago in fact, that practically every victory played out like this one.
Buttocks clenched tight as crosses rain down in the final moments, stray passes being intercepted in dangerous areas of the pitch and a goalkeeper with sudden onset butter fingers.
We’ve been spoilt this season with Premier League quality, but that second half was real Championship fare.
By the finish QPR can count themselves unlucky not to have taken a point.
Ruddy for all his juggling, produced one fine save to keep his team ahead and Conor Coady performed his trademark goal line heroics as Wolves hobbled over the line.
A thrilling climax that never should have materialised after a first half in which the league leaders established clear water.
Two well worked goals, a hatful of chances wasted and barely out of second gear. Things have never felt easier.
Maybe that was the problem?
But if complacency contributed, Ian Holloway must take credit for whatever he said and did at half time.
Big Matt Smith came on and won everything, they pressed higher and harder and once the door creaked open, they were hammering to get through.
Nuno will be disappointed by the goal conceded. Nobody was switched on for the short corner and after Ruddy clawed out the first attempt, his defence were second to the rebound.
After that it was real helter-skelter stuff with hooped shirts swarming all over the pitch and cross after cross after long throw after cross had to be repelled.
The whole side looked unusually ruffled but credit to Boly, Coady and in particular Bennett who stood up strong to the bombardment.
Midfield was where this game turned. Once we’d stopped controlling possession, it gave QPR a foothold to launch diagonal balls forward.
Saiss would have been the man to bring on, but with the Moroccan still absent it fell on Gibbs-White to help plug the gaps. He’s a talented technician but wasn’t the answer to the problem.
Wolves were still, as always, dangerous on the break and could have got the resistance killing goal had Afobe or Jota found the finish.
But it mattered not, ultimately, with the 70 point barrier now in the rear view mirror.
It’s all still firmly in our hands and nerves, thankfully, are for days gone by.

Ok it wasn’t 7:1 but I’d take the same result for another 8 games.
COMB
Winning them all is hard. Ask Derby đ Never mind winning them easy!
Lead extended, another tough game won.
Costa got a great confidence restoring goal.
All good!
Next …
Go Wolves!
Pretty soon the clouds will break up , spring will spring, the sun will warm the backs of our maistros and we will be spreying the ball all over the park in a stroll to the championship title, until then we will need a couple more wins like this ,
13 points clear !! It doesnât get much better than this, well unless blues beat villa of course
Utw
I think you can truly say that you’ve made it as almost certain nailed on champions when you can play like a load of uncoordinated giraffes for 45 minutes, almost give away a two goal lead…
…and STILL gain two points on all your promotion rivals.
Well – we can
We did
And WE ARE
Going to be champions.
In the words of Buddy Holly,
Every day itâs a gettinâ closer
Goinâ faster than a roller-coaster..
OK, not the greatest of wins, but a win. In recent seasons we would definitely have lost this one.
Derby, Bristol City and Fulham dropped two, points apiece. Wouldnât be surprised if Villa do. Whoâs blinking now?
In the words of the great Buddy H I guess it doesn’t matter any more how we win. It’s certainly not raining in my heart.
Love this game, absolutely love it.
Winning a match that you only play well in for 45 minutes and your defenders pull out the stops to make it happen is utterly brilliant.
Well done lads, but let’s play well for 90 minutes at Preston please.
We may have been fortunate to hang on for the win, but in the weeks ahead, after the poor second half performance has long been forgotten, the three points will still be in the bag.
During the season we have all lauded the massive skills and performances of our foreign imports. We have purred over the silky left foot of Barry Douglas, and marvelled at the vast and sustained improvement in the form of Coady. But there is one guy who always flies under the radar. Ryan Bennett. Week after week he has shown the no nonsense solidity that every team needs. Never spectacular: just ultra reliable. All of this was fully demonstrated again today, when such character was most needed. In my book, an outstanding performance from an under-rated but key member of this side.
Mike,
I left the game today with my bro in law & 2 Nephewâs & collectively weâd agreed that Ryan Bennett was todays MOTM
No nonsense defending, safe ball control & great distribution.
Mr Ryan Bennett – take a bow young man ??????
If only he’d wear shorts that fit him rather than shorts that seem to come from the Gary Lineker 80’s era
Absolutely Mike. Outstanding from Bennett today. THAT TACKLE to stop them turning it in from two yards…was even better than Coady’s block on the line.
Always solid…the new Kevin Foley…minimum 7/10 every week. Think his passing has improved as the season’s gone on too.
100 per cent agree with you, mike. Bennett was excellent yesterday.
And he was a free, what a steal he is. Unassuming but raw talent. Nuno has the blend just right, skill mixed in with no nonsense defending.
Well done Ryan Bennett.
Spot on about Bennett. He was my MOTM yesterday. I didn’t think he’d get in the side back in August but he’s proved exactly why he’s nailed down his place in this team.
Yep, wondered why we bought him in the summer. I know why now.
Messy overall game and result.. shite second half..if Afobe had of scored the third I might be feeling better..
I listened up to half time thinking we are so good we are boring with the additional fact that Costa is getting back to his old self..then they scored…
I’m utterly and totally convinced that in the old DB defence days we would of lost so
there lies the difference.
Ruddy is worryingly inconsistent under pressure to me.
Great result though.. we are leaving the other lot behind and imo it is now all over.. 13 points ahead and counting..
But…I saw Swansea tonight on MOTD and realised how the PL std is so so much higher..
I actually think we have no more than a core of 7 to tackle the promised land..
so -still ÂŁ200M needed then…..
It’s still glorious.. COYW
For once I agree with you, Steve.
They should have been two up within the first five minutes.
I thought Cavaleiro was very cavalier with a lot of his play today, Afobe missed two absolute sitters, perhaps he’s trying too hard, John Ruddy proved why he will be number 2 in the Prem, and Big Wily can be a little too casual at times.
It was as if all the players had read our blog before kick off, and believed the hype about them.
And if Holloway, fuckin’ Holloway, can see how to combat us with an astute substitution, you can bet your mother’s knickers the more cleverer managers in the Prem will do so as well next season.
We knew it would be difficult today, despite our very silly predictions, well some of you, so very pleased that there are now only two teams we ain’t beat this season.
Having said that, another three points, another game scratched off the wall, and all our closest rivals another two points adrift.
They are running out of games.
And a happy FO wb to y’all
COADY for England .
Bang on assessment there Thomas. It was definitely a game of two halves and the casual attitude of some of the players was a real concern especially Cav and Alfie boy, just taking too long and looking a little laboured at times. Don’t know if that was just arrogance or tiredness. It is the first game all season were I have felt like the ‘old days’ were we are clinging on for the last 50 minutes. It is with performances like the second half though, that NES can use this as a beating stick and lessons learnt option for the team on his Monday morning debrief and from it they should learn as a group that every game has to be played right up to the wire and avoid those stomach churning last 15 minutes for the now over-joyous Wolves population…..on a side note saw an article yesterday saying they want the Boggies to stay in the Prem…..me personally I hope they free-fall all the way to the Unibond league or whatever todays equivalent is……
Great to see the Redrow signs have GONE (Stu) – Fosun really are a class outfit, Coady off the line clearance today was epic. Was another game we would have drawn/lost in previous years. Money shop off the shirts at the end of the season and promotion and we will all be in heaven.
Bâham to beat the vanilla tomorrow (fingers crossed)?
The most impressive thing for me about the Nuno revolution has been game management strategy. For how many years have we been the most paranoid pessimistic easiest team to rattle in any of the leagues. That includes the supporters and particularly me. Whatever Christmas present we have been given like a great signing or a three goal lead, we are going to break it injure it or someone is going to take it away. We were and maybe still are damaged goods.
Dr Nuno has achieved amazing results since he took us on as a patient but second half yesterday some of my phobias returned. I know i’m weak but Its not my fault. I want to trust but someone mentioned 2001/2
and the tremors started. I’ve bought a copy of an audio disk with Dr Nuno saying “Don’t worry if they score again we score three, we must work hard and be humble for the team”. Then he sings his version of Paul Simon’s Graceland only he sings We’re going to Brentford, Brentford, Brentford Tennessee”. Well it works for me. Upwards and onwards.
Am I the only one who things Ruddy should be given a rest and let Norris have a chance. I accept he mad one good save in the 2nd half but some of his decision making was awful. His handling at times was Sunday morning pub standard. Time for a rest methinks.
Have to agree about the defence, last season we would have lost this not now. Bennett defo MOM and Coady not far behind. I do wonder though that inspite of Nuno’s insistance if some arrogance is creaping in to our play. Some of the tricks and flicks look great if the come off but if there is a simple ball on play it, not some flick between the legs without looking.
One final comment why do we always seem to get a crap ref. that one yesterday has been handing out cards like confetti all season, why only 3 for QPR god alone knows.
Good to catch up with Stu in the NBB before the game, but it was strang to have to queue to get in. What’s it going to be like next season.
Onwards & Upwards.
Agree Tipton that Fosun will have to look at the capacity of the ground sooner rather than later.
If future champions league position is the aim we need a 60k stadium, as you say queue now
so will only be going to get worse
I guess Ruddy has the experience but Norris definitely has the ability along with the potential to become even better.
There are some good comments on here regarding Ryan Bennet.
Has anybody got past him yet this season? Cos I’m damned if I can remember an instance.
It’s the reason we lost against Swansea, not utilising the back three like we did against Citeh.
So, it might have been a nail-biter at the end but it was another good win, imho. I mean, just ask Derby fans or fulham or Bristol or Colin, how their weekends are progessing…
The battle wagon moves on with a 5000 + entourage next week. I doubt that Preston are truly relishing our arrival.
UTW
We can go on about referee’s all day long it’s part of the game, but surely they should be helped by the other officials .There was an incident in the final minutes, in full view of the linesman, where Jota took a left hook slap from their defender. The linesman appeared to totally dismiss it.
Agree with Thomas’s assessment & the other comments about Bennett & the 2nd half struggle.
It was as if Paul Lambert was back in the hot seat! Mayfair & Park Lane first half but 2nd half it was back to Public Utilities & Get out Jail free cards!
Their change before H-T bringing on Eze for Perch & then Matt Smith 2nd half upped their game & it was deja vu squeaky bum time for the Molineux sell out crowd.
Thought Jota could have done a lot better with some of his chances by shooting earlier. We lost the ball too easily in dangerous areas. Hope Saiss is back to fitness soon as. But you’ve got to be happy still, our destiny is in our own hands.
Far too early to celebrate just yet.
Same old, same old. Home win, 3 more points and another rubbish referee. The now customary âletâs try and clog Jota in the opening ten minutesâ tactic was dealt with by a pointless lecture when a yellow card would have sent out the right message. A stonewall penalty – right in front of me in the North Bank was waved away. Then they score from a corner which was âwonâ thanks to a blatant foul on Douglas.
Never mind the promotion target of 86 points is now just 5 wins away and the title target of 92 is just 7 wins away.
Coady was absolutely immense. Bennett was outstanding. Neves though, well, I am starting to think that perhaps he actually IS the best midfielder Iâve ever seen in a Wolves shirt in the 57 and a bit years Iâve been supporting. He was sublime.
Sorry I didnât make the NBB but by the time Iâd escaped the Thai restaurant and visited Kelvin the vintage programme seller to collect my very rare Newcastle v Wolves 1951 FA Cup semi-final replay programme (worth a ton and a couple of poneys all day long) it was 2.48pm and the queue was starting to build up at my gate.
Watching Vile v Blouses canât help but think I canât wait for numbskull John Terry to come up against our boys. Their pace and skill will tear him to shreds and send him to an early retirement.

Blog seems quite today
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!
For all you bloggers who followed Clive from Houston’s traumatic times after the ‘orrible floods that sank his delightful residence, I have a piece of good news.
Not only is he nearly back to what passes for normal in the CFH household, but he’s also made a sure to be Oscar nominated film to show us all how things are progressing.
For those who have met the man, I need say nothing more.
For those others who have never had the (dubious) pleasure of sharing some quality time and a few beers with him, you will probably be surprised, as I was, that not only is he one of the nicest blokes you could ever wish to meet, a real softie and a complete gent, but he has also, even though he’s been living in Texas longer than most of us have been alive, retained his Wolver’ampton accent.
As he took the trouble to send the film to me, the least I can do is to share it with everyone.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXB9zXxsLmg
Cheers Clive! And love to Marla!
Brilliant. Great to see it’s nearly there.
Barbara and I just saw the video. Very pleased to see its all coming together again (really like that shower!)
Looking forward to catching up with Clive at Sunderland.
Excellent news. Its always nice when the homeless get homed. All those years of me buying the BIg Issue have had their reward.
Agree with all comments re match, especially about the crap linesman – was sorely tempted to pelt him over the head with the programme at one stage!
Nervy finish but we got the 3 points.
Great to see Stu even if only in passing.
Clive great to see the house is slowly returning to normal. Also that your dogs stand in the way & wonât move just like mine!
How many points do we need to mathematically go up then using Derby and villa as prob contenders to be with us in the top 2?
Been predicted only 4 more wins…equals 87points..
Incoming… Brompton…
No idea mate. But I think Cheeseburger and Bedford have their finger on the pulse. I say another 5 wins.
I meant 6 wins should do it, not 5.
Or it might even take 7, depending on the Villa and Derby results. I ain’t got a clue tbh.
That’s 86points..yep
Correction equals 83 points ..not enough.,
Its all conjecture really of course but looking at history and the remaining fixtures of those clubs in contention I would say the following;
probable promotion = 5 more wins
definite promotion = 6 more wins
probable champions = 7 more wins
definite champions = 8 more wins
Champions, they say, have to win games in many ways. We won this in two ways in one game. A dominating first half and a backs to the wall show in the second.
I don’t know what Holloway put in their half time cuppa, but his charges came out second half transformed. They pressed and harried and drove us into mistake followed by error. Our problems seemed to be compounded by some of our heroes believing their own publicity, playing a fancy flick when a simple pass would suffice. Too many fancy flicks flicked to a hooped shirt and despite creating chances on the break, we never regained the absolute control we’d displayed in the first 45.
You have to say well done to QPR for sticking manfully to their task. I thought they’d run out of legs as the clock ticked on, but they didn’t and it was something of a relief to hear the final whistle (about the only thing the ref got right in the whole game).
Agree with many about Ryan Bennett. The expression ‘unsung hero’ was made for he. He’s been solid for weeks, but in this one he made some vital interventions.
I feel NES may have a few points to make to our heroes after this hairy, scary second half, and I expect a more focused performance at Deepdale.
Good to see some Bloggers, if only briefly, in the NBB pre-match. Have a fab time in NZ Twix.

Cheers Steve …from sunny Dubai and onwards to Sydney and Christchurch…

Itâs got no chance of that today Cliveyboy…. 27 deg C at 4pm on arrival at Christchurch…

How long you there for Mike? Only asking as I may need to use your ticket number for the Boro game on the 30th March lol.
Have a great time, both of you. Did I mention that I am off to Goa on the 3rd? Am trying to see where I can watch the live sky games (Reading, Leed and Villa)
See you when you/I get back mate.
You need to speak to my ticketing department (agent) ….. canât see all the Boro tickets getting snapped up … but just check first….
Back before the 30 th though… have a great time in Goa mate …
If anyone wants to see the incident at the end of the QPE game where Jota gets slapped to the floor & the Lino does fek all?
https://youtu.be/g9nZMsdpUHY
Wow! I was up the other end so missed it. Hopefully as it was picked up on camera retrospective action can be taken.
That’a red card if the ref sees it.
Unfortunately his white stick got in the way.
I too was at the other end of the ground and missed it. The FA really need to look at that and take retrospective action.
To be honest, it was right in front of me and I didn’t see it. I was looking at the football at the time and I presume the ref and other officials were doing the same.
As Exiled says, retrospective is required if it’s on film.
It happened in front of the SB & the ball had gone 20 yds on due to Jotas challenge, the QPR centre “lays hands on Jota” off the ball – worst part for the Lino saw it but decided to pussay hole & say fec’hall. Hopefully Wolves have better HD footage that can retrospectively become a Red Card.
Personally, I think better to regard 92 points as the requirement for automatic promotion. Twice in the history of this division the 2nd team has got 93 points. And teams that have slipped from leading for a long time have a poor record in the play-offs. Villa are now looking dangerous, and it only needs one of the other rivals to have a super run to make 86 points inadequate.
Probably 86 points will be enough, but not wise to assume it at this point. And, the way we are going we should get those 92 points.
Watching the match on live TV I can’t believe that people were leaving the North Bank BEFORE the final whistle.
Only 50 comments on this blog.
It was better when we were playing rubbish at least the real fans showed their merit.
Harsh when we are having full houses at home and selling out away allocations. I’m not a fan of leaving early but I don’t think it’s a question of loyalty.
Although I have been known to leave early – the 2 hour drive home is the reason – I didn’t on Saturday and was there till the final whistle to applaud the team off. To be honest I find it more annoying that people arrive late – usually the SAME people every week – and then half way through the first half have to go off to the toilet thus disturbing everyone else twice. Grrrr!
Bedders, & the same feccas leave agĂ in 2 mins before half time & fekin come back 2 mins after the start of the second half & then lastly 2 mins again before 90 mins!
Am I also pist with them, to fe’hoo’kin right I am.
If they want to watch a game for 80 mins go and watch Rugby & leave me a’fecin’lone.
Rant over.
Cheers Bedders I feel so much better. đ
Another 3 points nearer prem that’s all.what matters it’d not performances now
Look at arsenal when they used to win league 1 0 wins grind it out
Utd used to do it aswell
Can’t believe officials didn’t see punch on jota hopefully fa do something about it
What’s everyone’s opinion on the redevelopment then?
Paulcooksleftpeg – What redevelopment?
Bedford
The south bank
Steve bull stand
The redevelopment of molineux
On the ground â I am relatively open minded. Iâd prefer to stay at Molineux and for the ânewâ ground to still be called Molineux. However if that simply isnât viable or practical and we do end up needing a 40,000 â 50,000 capacity stadium to house us as we make our assault on the Champions League then a brand new purpose built stadium elsewhere in the City with excellent road and train links will be ok by me. I know some would be aghast but to be honest once the current ground was completely redeveloped by Sir Jack it wasnât the same stadium that had seen the great 1950âs days anymore anyway. When my eldest was matchday mascot in 1994 and I got to go into the changing rooms I remember feeling disappointed that they werenât the same changing rooms that Wright, Cullis etc had been in.
Two ‘news’ stories caught my eye this morning.
Firstly that Wolves are supposedly ‘intent’ on signing Bournemouth’s Dan Gosling if/when we get promoted. Maybe I am delusional but I would think (and hope) we will be setting our sights a great deal higher than someone like him. If there is no truth in this story – and I doubt there is any truth – where does it come from? Who starts it? Who perpetuates it? His agent?
Secondly Jeremy Corbyn sounding off about Cyrille Regis. Is there a bandwagon that man WON’T jump aboard if he thinks it will win him popularity?
OODCL
jeremy corbin … the man who wants a minimum wage of ÂŁ10 an hour and put thousands out of work.. bloody idiot who will say anything to make himself popular without the slightest thought as to the consequences.
Doe know about you Spikey boy but if you think the Tories are gonna make your life better good luck. Jacob Rees-mogg. Prepare to have your kids cleaning chimneys again. Or maybe if you lose a limb in a factory pay for the damage to the machinery out of your wages. You have been warned.
Life is not too bad at the moment just don’t want it ruined by a delusional communist and my kids are far too big to go up chimneys .
Our Jacob is probably as far to the right as Corbin is to the left.
And you know what cheesy I have reached the time of life where it’s more important to me that the mighty wolves get back to where they belong than what STUPID selfserving politicians do and say.
Probably time to leave politics to the younger generation while we shout at the telly on a thursday night.
It’s BLOODY refs that are getting up my nose.!
Take it easy mate. I agree let the youth get on with it. All the best to you chap.
Bedders, I’m glad you brought up the Jeremy Corbyn speech and not me.
We can all now accuse YOU of being a right wing fascist instead of me getting it.
But, to slightly misquote the great Francis Urquhart, from the original (and best) House of Cards:-
“You might very well think that, Mr Bedford Wolf, I could not possibly comment.”
Accuse away. It won’t be anywhere near as bad as what my four children regularly accuse me of! I always enjoy the irony of someone being labelled a fascist for daring to say they don’t agree with someone else’s view when surely not being allowed to say you disagree with someone else’s view is one of the very cornerstones of fascism. But then what do I know about anything?
âYou are a slow learner, Winston.”
“How can I help it? How can I help but see what is in front of my eyes? Two and two are four.”
“Sometimes, Winston. Sometimes they are five. Sometimes they are three. Sometimes they are all of them at once. You must try harder. It is not easy to become sane.â
Two and two are four? Shit…. that is where I was going wrong!!!
Bedders.
The Gosling reports have just been a ripple effect from a single article in the Sun I think. From that Sun article the usual suspects have re-reported the story again and again as if it were gospel truth. Pathetic. Mind you the Afobe-to-Wolves rumour started the same way last summer.
I’m sure Jeremy Corbyn will come out as a boyhood Wolves fan, or Derby, or Villa, depending on who wins the title.
Redevelopment of Molineux may be sad for many but Fosun are very ambitious. Piecemeal upgrades to the stadium may be possible, one stand at a time, but messy. A temporary home (but where?) might be the answer if the Mol is totally rebuilt on the same site. Or, acquire land as close as possible and build a new Molineux all ready to move into, and sell off the old. This latter would need a deal with the council who retained the freehold to prevent change of use. But, it’s all premature speculation at this point until we are promoted and look like prospering in the PL.
Premature speculation? There are tablets you can take for that now aren’t there?
Gosling – yes I suspected as much but thanks for clarifying. Makes a change I guess to be linked with someone who is not Portuguese.
I well remember when Tony Blair, in a blatant attempt to appear as ‘one of the lads’, claimed to remember happily standing on the terraces at St James’s Park watching Jackie Milburn – until someone pointed out that Milburn had left Newcastle when Blair was 2 years old.
On the ground – I am relatively open minded. I’d prefer to stay at Molineux and for the ‘new’ ground to still be called Molineux. However if that simply isn’t viable or practical and we do end up needing a 40,000 – 50,000 capacity stadium to house us as we make our assault on the Champions League then a brand new purpose built stadium elsewhere in the City with excellent road and train links will be ok by me. I know some would be aghast but to be honest once the current ground was completely redeveloped by Sir Jack it wasn’t the same stadium that had seen the great 1950’s days anymore anyway. Premature speculation tablets? I got some in a hurry but just realised the doc misheard and I’ve got tablets for something else. Worked though.
My local club Chelsea’s stadium today is nothing like the one I fondly remember as a schoolboy on the terraces in the late 1950s. Plus they want to bulldoze it anyway. We shouldn’t make Chelsea’s mistake. They botched finding another site in central London, got outbid, and now face a few seasons at Wembley if they rebuild Stamford Bridge. The Russian is losing interest anyway. The excuse is that one local house-owner is holding them to ransom by refusing to agree, which is debatable. To redevelop Stamford Bridge without moving is so much more difficult and again local house-owners might have something to say. Fosun take note!
Tony blair eh…now wasn’t he card.
As to the ground, For want of repeating myself, I just like the fact that it’s in the town.
Not on a trading estate
Not in the middle of nowhere
Not in the next town…Handsworth.
But I get it that piecemeal rebuilding won’t cut it in the Prem.
Still, it’s a nice problem to have to solve, eh?
Jeremy Corbyn is a life long socialist who has opposed the sort of vile racism Cyrille had to put up with all his life. He is entitled to his view. Anyway David Cameron the arch defender of the working class is a Villa fan. Oh or is it West Ham. He doesn’t know. The Eton class don’t do football. It is a concept of the Great Unwashed. And then David Mellor posh Chelsea fan. Abusing taxi drivers. Racially Abusing a security guard. They don’t get it. Me. Just going down the Aldi and getting four cans for ÂŁ2.50.
Hahah my ruse worked! Last week you said you were vacating the blog due to all the censorship and PC rubbish but I knew that a bit of ‘leftie bashing’ would bring you back! Welcome back COD!!
Yes I am an unashamed leftie. And yes your blog worked. I couldn’t resist anymore. Hats off to you Bedford. I failed miserably. Bad thing for you is I am back! Still love you all though.

COD’s fekin backkkkk
Old lefties never die!
COME THE REVOLUTION RICK RACK. COME THE REVOLUTION!
Another weekend done and dusted and another 3 points in the bag. By the end of this rollercoaster match my old ticker had had a good workout. To my mind that second half was a reminder that the job is not yet done.
I totally agree about the comments here about Coady and Bennett. I was a little unsure about Ryan when Wolves signed him up, given the less than complimentary comments from some Norwich fans, but he has been Steady Eddie for so long.
I thought the fireworks and unfurling of the Wolves logo before the start of the game was good theatre (Iâm easily pleased) and the link up between the under nines games at halftime and the impending Chinese New Year great PR. Those Chinese youngsters will take home some amazing memories of performing at Molineux before 30k people and will spread the Wolves word further afield.
A particular feel good moment for me this weekend occurred as my taxi headed up to the ring road at 10.30pm on Saturday evening passing a lit up Molineux. That was a glorious sight!
It was really good to meet up with Ian and Sue (Newark Wolves), who also happened to be staying at the Novotel. Also, very briefly, Stu and Twix, plus their better halves, prematch outside NBB. Enjoy NZ Mike and Lillian!
As regards the ‘redevelopment’, I went for a beer in the Great Western on Saturday evening and got chatting to a group of fans. One of them claimed to have ‘insider’ information that the owners are planning to build a 60,000 capacity stadium on the old Goodyear site. They are not, it seems, prepared to countenance having half a stadium for the time that it would take to rebuild the old stands as it wouldn’t look proper on tele’.
Personally, I’m quite attached to Molineux for a million reasons and, although you can’t stand in the way of progress, I’d be desperately sad if the club was moved.
I was at my brother’s prior to the Sheffield game and he told me that they are already building houses on that site.
Oh goody. That’s a relief. Humph, insider information eh!!!!!
they will have a job building on the goodyear site as its already being developed for houses
Please see my reply to the comment above.
Ooooh, that was a bit nervy!!
Still we came out with 3 points so onwards we march.
Ruddy makes a fumble or two and he’s getting stick on here from some. Really? He has been massive for us.
Over and out
maybe mr ruddy needs to be put under a bit of pressure in training cause he isnt getting much during a game. Thats the problem with having a superb defence in front of you.

Please don’t use the word “buttocks” . There may be women visiting the site.
Stop it Tim. Women have buttocks too, you know.
Sorry. I was making an attempt at that thing y’all call “banter” .
I would give up Timbo.
Only joking.
And please pronounce the word correctly.
It is But ox, as per the Forrest Gump movie, not great big fat lazy arse, as per Mrs CFHâs reference to me!!
Clive,
Please no comments on the rotund! We have feeling too.
I see that the FA are investigating the Jota / Robinson incident.
One factor that seems to have gone unnoticed (or not really commented on) is the lack of injuries this season. We have played a settled team for so long now that news of Bonatini’s injury last week came as something of a surprise. it would appear that Nuno has appointed back room staff that actually know what they are doing and the preventative work that they are doing has resulted in a squad that has been pretty well injury free all season – how they get Jota back on the pitch after the batterings that he takes is quite amazing. Another example of the genius of NES ????

Cannock,
Well said young man.
Can’t say much more as frightened shetless that it becomes a curse!!!
I know the feeling — good job I’ve got my lucky underpants!!!!
View from WV2 Billy Quiet Upper – bit late.
The summary and various match reports really say it all.
Three qualified for the MOM to me – Bennett, Neves and Coady. All outstanding.
Missed the Jota incident but have been sent the link via email to watch it.
Bit hairy in the second half when Peaky sent on the beanpole but hey who gives a toss – another three points.
On Saturday catching the 8.50 Milton Keynes to Manchester Piccadilly and then a local service to Preston arriving at Preston station about 11.40. Hope to bump into some bloggers in a boozer somewhere. Last time we went into the Station hotel before meandering to Deepdale.
Compared to the stupid prices we pay down here – “London Catchment” as Bedford has now become with its huge house building programme predominately for London overspill – its a pleasure to drink a decent pint in the Black Country or the North of England at between ÂŁ2.50 and ÂŁ3.00 a pint. I think we paid ÂŁ2.80 for a cracking pint of bitter in Barnsley the other week. Lovely steak pie, mushy peas, chips and thick, thick gravy at ÂŁ3.00. Amazing!
(Really looking forward to Villa away in that respect. We have tickets with the home fans in the Trinity Road stand but beforehand I am meeting up with a number of mates in Dudley to consume a few pints of Holden’s or Botham’s – traditional Black Country ales – before embarking on a mini bus to Villa Park. En route we may well pass by The Poorthorns where West Birmingham are playing Leicester which should be interesting). The Villa game is shaping up to be a right humdinger. Memo to Terry – you need to speed up a little sonny – Jota, Costa, Bonatini et al will have you for breakfast.
Have a great week bloggers and see you somewhere in Preston.

Warm welcome to Tom another member of the Bedford Wolves “pack”, average age about 95, although as Tom is only 38 so that brings the average age down to
Have a great day out in Preston Bog, can’t make it this Saturday but i’ll be there for Norwich and off to Fulham to meet up with london Wolf Loyal, should be somewhat interesting.
Greetings Witley.
I trust you are well.
Fulham has been in the diary for a while but we now have the granddaughter staying over that weekend and family comes first.
Toys r us and KFC as a treat beckons! ( For me if I am honest).
Will be travelling to the Norwich home fixture- probably scoffing Thai beforehand if you fancy meeting up.
Enjoy Fulham – Bedford Wolf is going to the game – maybe check with him on a meeting place.
See you soon
BOG
Nb great result for West Brom tonight – not!
See you there mate, see you there.
Hi Brompton
Any idea where you will be drinking before the Preston game?
I was thinking of nipping into Frankie and Bennies near the stadium to hoover some scram – then finding a boozer.
We arrive at Preston station about 11.40.
Cheers
BOG
We spoke on the phone mate. Might also nip in to Frankie and Bennies but will phone you when I get there. I estimate arriving around 1330 hrs.
No idea where to have a beer though ….. but I am driving so I won’t be drinking.
Hi Brompt
Thanks for ringing the other day – I posted the above message before you phoned.
Three of us will probably be in F and B but give us a call when you land in Preston.
Safe trip
BOG
We spoke on the phone mate. I will probably pop in to Frankie and Bennies though but will call you when I get there, around 1330 hrs.
Do not know where to drink, but as I am driving I won’t be having a beer.
Have any of you noticed the absence of a comment from our esteemed friend ‘The Witley Wanderer’ so far?
I was chatting to Witley on Saturday in the NBB pre-match, and he was bemoaning the removal of the photo’s option from the blog. Well fed up, he was, and saying he’s giving up on the blog because it’s changed it irrevocably.
I may be jumping the gun a little, but I hope he hasn’t already jumped ship. That would be a massive shame ’cause he’s a lovely fellah.
Come on Witley. Get posting.
No problem Wolf’, I’v been following the Mighty Wolves for fifty years and some. No chance of me jumping ship, but I do find things on here a bit strange. Tell me if I’m wrong but what do you expect to read on a football blog, bollocks most of the time with some funny images thats what. If you don’t like it find a blog about something else F F S. Kind regards to all fellow bloggers.
He posted at 9.14 on the 12th Steve and again in reply to you.
Well spotted Brompto’ old pal. My predicting powers must be on the wane in me old age.
Never have I been a Chelsea fan as much as I am now. Lose this and I reckon Sandwell are as good as down I fuckin Hope so
But…but… Chelsea was a grand ole band – shame on you COD đ
Yes,THEY’RE going down. Made a bet with a pal last night on that. A case of lager, that’s 20 half-liter bottles in my part of the world.
Happy birthday to Benik Afobe – 25 today. I have been 25 twice now though.
Most of the other bloggers have been that age 3 times mate. Not us youngsters though lol
Switched the match on tonight right as Hazard scored.
Perfect timing!
Sturridge lasted longer than normal, and why the fuck was there supposed interest in Evans from Citeh?
The shit are really shit!!
Always shit Clive. Thierry Henri trying to make summat out of it.
COD
Think Thierry is gonna struggle, cus yoo really cor polish a turd.
The shit are still 7 points from safety, and play Huddersfelt next!!
Yow coodunt rite this enie bettah!!
I was brought up proper. I was taught it was wicked to mock the afflicted. For that reason I will refrain from saying ANY of the following;
Sandwell Shadow Dwellers sit rock bottom and 7 points from safety
Pardew has managed just 1 win and 8 points in 13 games (Pulis was sacked after 2 wins and 10 points in 12 games)
When Pardew took over they were 17th and 2 points above the relegation places
They have won just 3 of their last 36 league games
Supposed saviour Daphne Sturridge lasted just 3 minutes at Chelsea before going off injured – the 31st time he has been injured in the past 4 years
But like I say I wonât mention any of that coz Iâm FAR too well brung up.

You actually worked????

As I said rarely very rarely
I’m thinking of suggesting an ongoing blog thread.
JOBS I WOULD LIKE.
Part 1 would be:-
Gordon Taylor’s ‘job’ as PFA Union Chief.
Here’s the deal.
I get paid a basic salary of ÂŁ1,188,765.
A bonus of ÂŁ777,183.
Expenses of around ÂŁ50,000.
And I do…….
…..Absolutely nothing!
Any other suggestions?
Doog,
I think that’s one OK but really I think this one is going to be nĂşmero uno.

I would like to be one of them monkeys – you know, the hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil ones.
Then I could get a job sitting on the top table of the Football Association.
Or as a Championship referee.
Did you hear about the Baggies fan who bought a ‘golden goal’ ticket at their last home game? Apparently he opened it up and it said August.
Never thought l would think this but shame the Albion are going down, really was looking forward to a Black Country derby beating them home and away and generally taking the piss and Stoke Shity aswell amazing we were all in the same division at one time Brum, Albion, Vile and Cov.
Wolves Aye We.
Well!
Surprised or what!
The FA are taking no action over the Jota getting floored incident.
What a bunch of sweet FAs.
Am I being naive if I say I am frankly amazed that they are not hanging Robinson by his thumbs for six games. It means it’s fine if he does it again next match then.
But you can bet your sweet patootie if one of our guys even thinks of doing something similar the FA will be all over him like one of Bedderâs cheap suits.
If it had been during a Prem match, ten thousand experts would still be screaming for justice, and most of them, because its Wolves, would be accusing Diogo of attacking his fist with his head!
And Gordon Taylor would ignore it, saying Iâm busy counting my loot.
Can you believe that pillock has been in that job since 1981?
Unfuckinbelievable!
Lovely result from West London last night, still loffin at the chances the shit missed.
It gives me a warm glow in the nether regions to think that they could do a Sunderland ( and Wolves!) straight into the third division next season.
And Hull, looks like.
He he he!
What do you mean cheap? Bleeding sauce! They can’t be that cheap as they are Tesco’s ‘finest’.
As they say in Tesco, every little helps.
You could not make it up.
Love the new edit/delete buttons. Means I can edit any speeling mistakes.
Yes, I meant to mention the edit and delete buttons.
Top work Thomas.
Now all we want is the picture posting facility back.
and predictive text so we can all really feck it all up.
Wba chairman and chief executive now sacked laughing stock or what
I just went on a baggies blog winding up some fans just a bit of banter my pass word was wanderers scarf lol
Pclp,
What is the shit blog – will just be funny to see the posts – cheers
Only posting this to see if I can work out the edit facility.
Isn’t a shame Sandwell Town didn’t do what we did and got themselves rich Chinese owners? What do you mean they did? Oh dear. đ

Of interest to all Wolves fans, here is the hottest celebrity chef in London (you couldn’t make this one up!): The restaurant is Chiltern Firehouse in Marylebone, London W1. From The Times:
How Nuno Mendes made Portuguese food cool
Heâs the chef at Britainâs hottest celebrity hangout, but Nuno Mendes doesnât care about meeting A-listers. His obsession is the food of his homeland…
Testing, testing, testing. oh nice job on the edit button
I heard about a bloke who, being really bored one Saturday afternoon, went to the poorthorns.
Of course, he could pick his seat, there were so many empty, so he sat by a guy all decked out in A….. colors, who had a dog with him, also all decked out in A…. colors.
The bored guy was impressed.
When the teams came out for the pre match kick about, the dog started barking and jumping up and down in excitement.
Bored guy was more impressed.
After a few minutes, lo and behold, A…. got a corner.
Dog goes ballistic, jumping up and down, barking, leaping on and off the seats, (which were all pretty empty).
Bored guy very impressed, and he says to the dog owner,” Tell me, your dog is such an A…..fan, carrying on like this just when they get a corner, what does he do when they score?”
Owner says ” Don’t know, only had him two years”

I see the F.A have done F.A about that thug Robinson or what ever his name was if that had happened in the Premier League they would be all over it……….WANKERS..!
Email the F.A with my feelings over Jota incident I was polite well I didn’t use any swear words just words like old cronnies, never kicked a ball in there lives, ivory towers counting there cash you get the picture.
Won’t do any good but makes me feel better…………..WANKERS…!
Just seen this on the Wolves website, you really can’t fault the current regime. Could you ever imagine Morgan and Moxey doing this ? So proud of everything Wolves at the minute.

Fosun apparently consider the Premier League to be a steppingstone for greater glories – that is Champions League football along WV1.
With fond memories of 1971-2 season, just watched Juventus – whom we despatched from the EUFA cup all those years ago.
What a game to wet the lips of those of us of a certain age who would relish the opportunity to see the Old Gold in Europe again before…..!
Juventus raced into a two goal league within 10 minutes but full credit to Tottenham who then bossed the game and deservedly pulled back the deficit although Juve missed a second penalty just before half time which may have changed the complexion of the game.
Wonderful entertainment and here was me sitting at home simply wishing it was Wolves.
Well in 40 years we never had the complete works to make the dream come true, we have now.
I know we have to “walk before running” but I can dream can’t I?
Well that’s where we are heading folks – Turin in the Champions League. Or Munchen or Madrid.

Memo to G Southgate.

If you have any ambition to progress beyond the group stages in Russia old bean two bits of advice
1. Get the nerks to practice penalties until they realise what the objective is
2. Pray Harry Kane avoids getting clogged between now and June and take along some of his team mates to provide the ammunition because we ain’t got no other fucker to score goals – without which we ain’t got a prayer.
Just read WBA are off to BARCELONA for a mid-week break, around about this time if you fast forward about 3 years, WOLVES could be PLAYING BARCELONA in EUROPEAN games. COYW.
Presuming of course Barcelona qualify for Europe in three years time……………
SMART ARSE…my bookie will give you 5-1 for that outcome Clive.
I think you guy should take a pill and relax. We are playing well in the second tier of football.
We lost to a team in the Premier League who is probably going to get relegated.
Let’s not get too carried away.
We will definitely need a few big signings in the summer to push us up to the top half of the Premier League if/when we get promoted.
As of now, who knows how the majority of our players will fair in the Premiership.
I’m confident Neves and Jota will exceed. Other than them, it is all conjecture.
And we didn’t lose to a team in the PL who are going to be runaway champions. I’m taking about outplaying Man City over 120 minutes and being the only away team to keep a clean sheet at the Etihad this season.
I think the majority of our players will do well in the PL. We will move others on and sign better.
Swansea to be relegated is pure conjecture.
Are those of us who frequent this site too old to be soppy? Happy Valentineâs Day to all of a Wolves persuasion.
Just spreading the love.

When I see your Mrs on the boat to Fulham Saturday week I might have to tell her you said that! đ
And youâre a good swimmer ?
I’ve just posted a picture of me wearing a pair of Wolves speedo’s winning the Bedfordshire Over 50’s 1500m freestyle championship in 2011. Shame you can’t see it.
Mind you – swimming in the Thames? Be safer to swim in shark infested waters what with all the pollution in there.
Certainly not too old to celebrate St Valentine’s Day.
Wishing every last one of you lovely people all the best on this special day of love.

I’d particularly like to thank the sender of the card addressed to:-

I wonder where she is now?
I can’t quite make out the post code…. s-a-n-d-w-e-l-l… something like that.
Was it from Amanda Hugandkiss?
That’ll be the one.

Be interesting to watch Porto tonight v Liverpool as I hope Vincent Aboubakar is our number 1 striker target in the Summer. Also maybe Tiquinho Soares. Up the Portuguese!

To all those going to Preston I wish I was going to but getting I weekend of in 6 well lets just say I’m on number 5 which means I’m going to Fulham but I shall be represented at Preston by my brother and his lad.
Come……..on………………our………………BABIES…………!
Once upon a time in a magical land called Wolves there was a blog called believe it or not wolves blog. This was run by the site owner Thomasino.
One day a woman called Sandra (she had not been heard of before or since) put a post on the blog complaining about inappropriate photos of beautiful, scantily clad ladies, with humorous comments or wolves motifs added, that had been posted by Mildenhall. These were deemed offensive by Thomasino, but as inoffensive, and were enjoyed by the majority of the bloggers. This caused Thomasino to withdraw the photo posting facility and deletion of all previous photosâs much to the disappointment of all the bloggers.
Shortly after, someone complained of bad language by Clivicus of Houstonia, so swearing was banned and Clivicus was warned as to his future language. Clivicus told him to fuck off and was immediately banished to live in Halfords Lane for eternity.
Next it was the turn of the Gender Neutral brigade, who insisted that everyone that posted must use a webcam, to check that they were wearing gender neutral clothes. This upset Doogoodivus who insisted on wearing his favourite twinset and pearls, and Stuwolficus who only felt comfortable in his ladies underwear.
It was decreed that the telling of jokes would be banned as this would offend people with no sense of humourâŚ.although that applies to the second paragraph about Mildenhall.
It was further decreed that that only Wolves related posts would be accepted, and that these could not contain any criticism of the club or individual player, in case a sensitive player reads it and is upset. Also no banter allowed between posters as this could upset some little flower who feels excluded.
As there was nothing now to write about all bloggers lived unhappily ever after.
Load of rubbish? I totally agree, BUT THEN I DIDNâT START IT
That is outrageous!
Never before has anything offended me more!!
As you can see from my picture I am incandescent with rage …..oh no hang on you canât can you?
I am going to start up a petition and have a word with an angry mob I know (can three people be deemed âa mobâ?) and organise a demo with placards and everything.
I will contact my MP and see if that post constitutes a âhate crimeâ.
I mean…………you didnât mention ME!!!!!
Nor me …………………. but then again NOBODY mentions me!!
Is it because I am not white, like the majority of you, or is it because I fart in public? Or is it because I live in North Yorkshire, or is it ………………….
Whatever.
Or maybe its because no-one likes you.
Or maybe its because you keep changing your profile picture?
Or maybe its because I’m a Londoner……………………………?

I’ve just picked up a couple of tickets for the Fulham match.
Always assuming that we get there in good time for a quick snifter, anyone know of a Wolf friendly boozer near to The Cottage?
Don’t really know much of London if it’s not in Park Lane or Mayfair.
I used to own a hotel on Park Lane but when I went to jail I had to hock it.
DOOGie the traditional, designated ‘away’ pub is The Eight Bells which is close to the underground station and about a 10 minute walk from the ground through the park. It does get quite busy in there mind – and can be quite noisy and a tad raucous too but it is always friendly and a good laugh. An alternative is The Temperance which is nearby and also attracts away fans.
I am going to Fulham myself but arriving by specially chartered boat (complete with bar and DJ) that somehow takes 3 hours to get from Festival Pier to Putney Bridge . The boat, organised by London Wolves Supporters Club, will be housing 240 Wolves fans apparently! London Wolves Loyal (Matt) and Mrs LWL are also on the boat so I would imagine we may share a small shandy or similar to help while away the hours as we meander gently along the river whilst listening to Johnny Mathis. We are due to land/berth at 4pm so if you are in the vicinity let me know where you are or will be and we might amble over to meet up.
p.s. I would have had you down as more of an Old Kent Road kind of guy – or maybe even the water works?
Cheers Bedders.
I’ll see if we can find one of those hostelries.
I’m a bit jealous of your specially chartered boat – a bit of a coup to get Johnny Mathis on it, I didn’t know he was a Wolves fan.
As far as being an Old Kent Road sort of guy is concerned, I used to hang around Whitechapel back in the day until it got too hot with the Peelers – and I’ve always had trouble with the waterworks!
It’s all a dream, an illusion now
It must come true, sometime soon somehow
All across the land, dawns a brand new morn
This comes to pass when a Wolf is born
Bedders, Shaun and I would love a piss up on the river, I was born in St Thomas. Can you fix it for us Jimmy??? ????
Now then now then …âAs it happensâ ….. our friends The River Police and the Port Authorities have got a spare boat, with Blue and White markings to follow that Bedders boat, along with the 240 other nice gentlemen Wolvesâ supporters so that you all have a good time with Johnny Mathis.
Could you meet me at Fulham Police Station on the Saturday and weâll see how it all pans out …
Johnny Mathis? We wanna win the frigging game, not to relate to the experience. Get in the mood Bedders. Try a bit of Twisted Sister with Leader of the Pack.
Alan Pardew was caught speeding this morning on the way to the Albion training ground. When questioned by police he said “I’ll do anything to get 3 points”
WHAT!
I find that incredulous, 1) I donât believe they train, 2) the training ground is the old rounders pitch at Dartmouth Park (please avoid the dog shit!) & 3) does his company car – Austin allegro 1.2 ltr in vomit yellow – with private plate I 8 WBA – go above 30mph?
So canât we post any pictures at all now ?
Just change you avatar mate and replace it with pictures you want to put on. I have tried it and it works. But only small ones lol.
