Well, at least Jez Moxey and Terry Connor still had time for a couple of April Fools jokes, even if most Wolves fans were too detached to listen.
Molineux’s very own fat lady was singing before our historic home defeat to Bolton, drowning out muffled talkSPORT studio sniggers to pronounce Wolves as the best placed Premier League team to avoid relegation, before again telling listeners that Terry Connor is not a novice.
After the ‘best man for the job’ presided over our latest meek surrender to complete the longest stretch of home defeats in our 135 year history, Connor was then snatching the gospel according to Jez Moxey out of the snake oil salesman’s hands to trot out a similarly insulting quote for more of the morbidly curious to wet themselves over.
“People can say what they want to say about us being relegated now but there are still 21 points to play for and I am not giving up hope on anything until such time as it might be impossible for us to stay up,” said the experienced old head.

Our record breaking 3-2 reversal to Bolton was painful enough for those with any ounce of hope left in their souls.
The real hurt now begins as we suffer a tortuous week of tasteless, insulting platitudes about how we must all stick together and work for one another. And how the fans must start getting behind the team like never before – or face a ‘newsflash’ worse than death.
Not that Roger Johnson and Wayne Hennessey were showing much unity deep into the first half, in a handbag stumbling embarrassment that threatened to undo our good work to that point.
Who was to blame was neither here nor there. The biggest worry was a blatant lack of respect for a club captain who, frankly, deserves little anyway, and a public unravelling of the one quality that had underpinned Mick McCarthy’s tenure.
Like a patient in brief remission, Wolves were unexpectedly upbeat and full of vigour in the first half – aside from the playground squabble – which should have seen us at least two goals to the good.
Man-of-the-match Kightly whipped in a beauty of a cross for Fletcher to hit the bar with on the stroke of half time, while Bogdan saved brilliantly from Fletcher and a near certain goal was cleared off the line.
But just as hope began to spring up like the daffodils around the ring road, along came Mark Davies to chop them all down.
It was Roger Johnson who did the chopping in actual fact, diving in recklessly on Davies, who then dived like Tom Daly off the 10 metre board.
And in the face of clear adversity, Wolves surrendered in the meek, feeble manner that we’ve all become accustomed to.
The tide had turned and our first half positivity was washed away, as seen when Johnson again went to ground in the box, only this time to a 37 year-old bloke who couldn’t turn a duvet cover.
Javis’ late effort threatened to offer hope, but like those crass April Fools soundbites from our leaders, we knew not to take it seriously.
* Thomas: Anyone interested in a framed Wolves shirt from the second-leg play-off defeat against Norwich back in 2002, signed by Dave Jones and Sir Jack Hayward, check out this listing on ebay. Daniel, the guy selling the shirt, sent me a nice email asking for insights about it, so I’m helping him with a bit of promotion.

Nothing to add to that. Can’t blame Henners as a keeper there is nothing worse than having a lazy sod in front of you who makes you look bad. That said he should have hit him in training
Johnson should have been suspended as captain and a player as soon as he turned up pissed for training. Poor form can be excused but his behavior disrespected his team mates, the coaching staff, the fans and the club. For me that was the point I lost respect for TC when he refused to remove him as captain permanently. He should have been fined and stripped of captaincy otherwise what example does it show to the other players?
FORJ FOTC FOJM
I would give the captaincy back to Henry immediately – in fact I don’t know why Johnson just waltzed in and was given it. In my opinion you need to justify WHY you’re the captain and Karl has, for better or worse, given his all for the club for years and is a local lad.
What did Johnson do? Get relegated with Birmingham.
He is such a tit. I hope we don’t get stuck with him in the Championship.
I imagine it was probably a clause in Johnson’s contract when he signed. Probably how we managed to fit him under our wage cap. Johnson’s with us for the foreseeable can’t see to many clubs showing an interest in a player who has single-handedly destroyed team spirit and got the manager who signed him the sack.
As for Karl, I think we maybe surprised in the level of interest in our “Cart horse” midfielder over the summer, i certainly imagine we’ll have more top flight takers for him than Milijas and Guedd combined.
So typical. We put in a bloody good performance and then capitulate at the first sight of the other team deciding to join in! Davies dive was a joke, and wasn’t the only time the ref made a shit decision but the way we fell apart was embarrassing. Our wingers were superb. Jarvis won’t be here probably, but a positive is that Kightly will tear the Championship apart.
You’d hope Kightly, Ward, De Vries, Stearman, Davis, Henry, Foley, Edwards and SEB would stick around. That’s the core of a top 2 Championship side for me. If we can pick up some money for the likes of Hennessey, Zubar, Johnson, Fletcher, Doyle, Jarvis + the parachute payment money, get the right manager in, we might just be OK to yo-yo. Surely yo-yoing is the best we can hope for.
Totally agree – and we’d also presumably have the money to sign one or two players from the Championship who are there or there abouts in quality to get us promoted.
Do you not just think we need a clear out? Most of them have clearly stopped caring. Kightly, SEB and Henry might be worth keeping but apart from that the rest of them wouldn’t be.
Perhaps you’re right, but a wholesale clear out of (not very good) players is hardly viable – who’s going to buy them?
Well, you hit the fuckin’ nail right on the head there, old son, a championship side, …..most of those you named were in our championship side, and should have been fucked off three years ago!!
No fuckin’ wonder we are where we are!!!
Brilliant insight!!
Give that man a fuckin’ medal.
How worrying that with the exception of De Vries and Davis that’s a good percentage of the team that got us out of the Championship in the first place isn’t it?
Kind of says something about our lack of development doesn’t it, despite us spending quite a bit over the past couple of seasons or so!
Why on earth would we hope Ward, Stearman, Foley & Edwards would stick around?
Progressive NO Guaranteed to knock a few thousand of the gate YES! Guaranteed that we stay in the Champ YES!
We desperately need a clear out.
if Kightley keeps up this form in tha last seven games then i can see him going he’s getting better and more confidence the more match time he gets and not only that his goals tally is very good for a winger if i was one of the promoted teams or even a Villa , Sunderland or Everton i be taking a good look at him over the next seven games that loan to Watford done him the world of good. I agree i would get rid of Stearman, Berra, Hunt, Doyle (over rated) Ward, Johnson (and if anyones will to pay money for him even better). The players i fear will go are Hennesy, Flecher, O’Hara
I can’t blame TC for where we are right now. He was given the same squad that was already found wanting, and I can’t imagine any wildly different tactics would have made a jot of difference to that.
After all, he probably had a choice. – take the caretaker job, or end up with no job at all. I can’t blame the guy for giving it a go.
Surely the blame lies with the fact we’ve got too many Championship level players, or so-called Premier League quality players who just haven’t performed, for whatever reason? The whole managerial farce has just made a bad situation even worse.
Bagsy, I disagree to a point, the right manager could have seen us out of it. We’ve got enough quality in the squad to stay in the league, it has been a combination of bad recruitment, a deviation from the club policy (at least last year we still had some sort of direction). That said, it would be window dressing, as last year was, as the core of the squad has not improved enough. Last year we were in a difficult league. This year we could probably have stayed up with fewer points than last year.
Agreed, I think even Mad Mick would have seen us pick up enough points to mount a challenge for survival. As it is were going to be down before the end of this month.
That said MM and his team of grafters had been papering over the large gaps in the ability of our team for a long while. We have had a leaky defence and a lack of quality through the middle of the park since we have been promoted and despite a few personnel changes it hasn’t improved. That indicates a deficiency in coaching and in the quality of player we are able to buy. Faults that to my mind fall squarely on SM, JM they set the budget available for both and have kept the purse strings too tight for us to improve.
We should be sitting pretty under the manager to take us forward over the next few years and whilst still struggling at least we would have a clear vision of where we were going and what changes were ahead. Instead were left with a cheap stop gap appointment one with no hope of succeeding and one who’s inevitable sacking in the summer will lead to a fire sale of the few quality players we have.
Remember basking in Post-Fulham optimism? I do.
I remember the endless list of players we were linked with at the time, many of whom ended up at teams around us and who will be in Premier League next season. Dann, Long, Bertrand et al. It could have been so much different.
We’re in a bit of a mess. Where do we go from here?
I mean as a club, in which direction? For mine we’re nailed on to go to the Championship of course.
We need the club to speak to us t’OM, removed of all flannel and spin, and tell us what is going to change next season.
This is a slow, tortuous death and I don’t know if I can handle another 7 games of this.
I want to know that a new man will definitely be in place, with his own regime, as soon as the Wigan procession is over.
We need to know that AG and Hammill have/will not been sold, and that all loanees will be back at the club with a clean slate to challenge for the first team.
We basically need to see / hear of a strategy, of how we are going to be bouncing back.
And we definitely need to hear from Morgan. What is he feeling now? What is he going to do about this complete mess? Who is he holding accountable and how is he going to ensure this won’t happen again? What lessons have been learnt?
This is why we are subjected to such spin. It is a crude way of masking over what we really should be hearing.
As I say, seven weeks of Ward saying ‘we’re in this together’ is going to send me over the edge.
Ben – I think those loanees will be key, as we have to pay championship wages, and surely players like Hammil, Guediora will not be on massive wages (remember JM saying how much value we got for wages last year having stayed up by 12 minutes), but are of the class we can build a team around. Give a couple of young kids a go (the full back who played in the league cup for example).
I suppose I obsess over the 90′ more than mos on the blog being so far geographically removed, so I suppose questions of who will stay and who will go are central for me. I stopped visiting the club webpage years ago so I don’t really hear what Ward says anyhow.
Personally t’OM, (and presuming Doyle, Fletcher, Jarvis and Hennessey go) I think we can boast a competitive side next season. I do think Henry will attract interest too.
Frimpong and Bassong won’t hang around.
I would want to see Zubar C/B, playing where he did for Marseilles in the Champions League, possibly with Batth alongside. I actually think Berra would be competent in the CCC.
Foley at R/B where he was bought, and won a player of the season award.
New left back a MUST (how long have we said that? Ward is not the answer, never has been, even if he has improved)
Kightly, Guedioura, Henry , Davis, Hammill should be competitive.
Then we’d have SEB up front and a pressing need to get a couple of new strikers in.
So
De Vries
Foley
Zubar
Berra
Kightly
Henry
Guedioura
Davis
Hammill
SEB
As it stands for me, but a need for a new striker or two. New midfielder, new left back and a new centre back.
I’d add Vokes and Ikeme to that list, I think both have improved and can do a job at championship level. We have a fairly strong squad its true. But will we be allowed to get the manager and coaching team we need to complete it?
Good question Sheffield. Also, McAlinden and Zele will surely be nearer to a starting place? How much older do they have to be?
It makes the new appointment all the more pressing, bearing in mind Jez today said that it’s all about bringing through academy youngsters.
(in other words, cheap, cheap, cheap)
I wonder at what point Jez Moxey thought his superior ‘3 M’ mantra was a bit flawed when NO youngsters ever got a sniff under Mick?
At what point did having no youngsters coming through not matter to the club, yet become such an ‘objective’ today?
The day they realised we were going down I guess.
Few clubs at our level in the prem bring through their own players to be fair to MM, still fewer that have only just been promoted and therefore have a championship academy. Docherty and Forde have both shown quality in spells but also have looked like liabilities on other days.
That said going down and the inevitable exodus should give some of our youth players their big chance, if they don’t take it now they never will. Batth, Malone, Zele, Docherty, Forde and Davis will probably all get a chance to shine next year as will some of our fringe players like Hammil, Gued, Milijas and Vokes. Its going to be interesting.
Totally agree according to Moxey and Morgan having a Premier Acadamy is more inportant than actully being in the Premier League. Also do they realy work, for all the hipe how many actully make youngsters the grade im not just talking about Wolves if Premier Acadamys work then there would be no need to buy players. If you believe Morgan and Moxey we will never have to buy another player again then again knowing them pair that will probablly be true .its a smoke screen like you say how many of the youngsters got a chance under Merlin. No thats Morgan and Moxey speak for THE NEW MANAGERS NOT GETTING ANY MONEY TO SPEND.
Ben – the name t’OM is a play onl’OM (l’Olympique de Marseille), my other team. You do not want Zubar at Centre Back, watching him “play” there for Marseille was nightmarish at times. I’m a massive fan of his, but he is a Marseille reject. Error prone, clumsy, positionally poor. I love big Ron, but only at fullback, I’d give him the left back slot to be fair ahead of Ward as of this weekend, at this level. I think he could still do damage from there.
Add Stearman and Milijas to that list. Also Vokes off the bench can do it at that level. We’ve got so many decent championship level players at the moment we don’t really need to buy that many.
I’m looking forward to next season already, and to seeing us win a few games for a change. We’ve got an excellent squad, I reckon choosing the manger will be absolutely key. I’m still gutted we couldn’t persuade Curbishley. Can anyone see anything in their crystal ball? I’d have loved to have got Adkins, but there’s no way that’s going to happen now.
If you think we are going to walk the Championship even if we manage to keep our best players, the trouble is we are on a downer and we have been there before history has a bad habit of repeating its self at best most teams relegated make the playoffs and not auotomatic promotion so if we make the playoff that will be a massive task.
No mention of Edwards there. You wouldn’t fancy him in the Championship?
I have never rated the guy and by what’s going on at Forrest I would like to hang onto gued. Heard hammill is shocking at boro tho. My biggest disappointment is that we built a young and hungry team who just haven’t really progressed in 3 years. I think the back room staff and our long ball tactics have nullified this and I think an needs a major think if he wants this club to progress!
Very surprised if Fletcher leaves, he will want to bring us back up. I know he can demand a good wage elsewhere but why has he not already gone?
He stayed because we had no firm offers at a price we would have expected 8-10 million. It’ll be different this summer as he will want to be playing at the top level and the club will want him off the wage bill to balance the books.
As much as I like him he’d be stupid not to leave as most of the teams in the mid table pack would be improved by having him in their side. He’s shown himself to be sensible before leaving Burnley when he had the chance. I doubt he will stick around on the off chance we secure an immediate promotion its to much of a risk.
For me a lot depends on what Morgan makes of the whole farce of this season. If he thinks we were unlucky because our three key signings this year failed to work out (O’hara failed to find the form of last season, Johnson Shit just Shit and Frimpong injured after looking good) then we’ll look to appoint an Alladyce or McCarthy clone someone who can make the most of the squad we have and look for immediate promotion.
However, if he takes a look at A****n, Swansea or Norwich he might feel that to break into the mid table pack Wolves need a long term re-think, playing it out in the championship for a couple of seasons whilst we look to restructure the club to play more expansive football and look to progress our own players rather than spending millions on waste of space centre halves.
The real point is would the fans be happy if the new man came in, changed to a more passing game, but we were languishing in mid table Championship for a couple of seasons. Or would they be calling for his head after the first failed promotion push?
It is an interesting juncture. We’ve never really been in a position to take stock so early, resigned to a fate of going down. As I mentioned above, I think we have the nucleus of a good side. But in light of what you say Sheffieldwolf – we have the nucleus of an effective side. I’d love to see us go into the Championship buliding a side around a midfield trio of Henry/Davis, Milijas and Guediora. That would give us a very solid base to work from, and play quite nice football. I think Milijas might be the man, finally, for one big push back up, however I’m not convinced of him in a 4-4-2.
It breaks my heart to be talking like this at this time of year.
What I found most annoying is the fact that if we had bit the bullet and signed a Curbishley, Clarke or Poyet they would have at least 10 games to convince the players in the squad of their vision and drive even if we went down. That might have stood a chance of convincing a few of our stars (Hennesey, Doyle, Fletcher and Jarvis) to stay for at least another season and see if we could bounce back up. As it is I can see the appointment of the new manager dragging on over the summer and our players getting out as fast as they can in the mean time many to our current rivals and the newly promoted clubs.
It’s funny, we’ve never really sold any players on to bigger and better things. Not at least since MM came on board. That suggests 2 things to me. 1) We never developed players who were at better levels and 2) we ran a tight enough ship that when pressured players like Doyle and Hennessey stayed put.
I think 1 will fall apart if we drop a division and your point, Sheffieldwolf, answers 2 pretty well.
I think it’ll make watching the Prem next season really disheartening seeing players like Hennessey, Fletcher and Jarvis making full use of a better defence, better service and a balanced attack with less pressure from his full back, respectively.
With regard to point 1 it was always a criticism of McCarthy in the prem that he didn’t youth. I always took it as was shown in the case of Docherty and Forde that it was a step to far to early for the youngsters most of whom had no first team experience at any level let alone top flight. Dropping a division and the inevitable exodus should give a few of the younger lads a chance and we’ll get the answer as to whether it was a mistake or a blessing not playing them.
Hopefully, the delight of seeing Batth, Malone, Davies, Docherty, Forde and dare I say it Ismail make their mark for Wolves should go some way to mitigating the pain of seeing our heroes form the past four years go on to bigger and better things without us.
Damn, that should have read didn’t play our youth players.
That “he didn’t youth” sums it up pretty succinctly.
Thing is though Sheffield, they were McCarthy signings! Dohery and Forde were plucked from Irish teams, for a fee. Yes, they’re kids, but take those two signings out of the equation and Mick gave nobody a chance.
Fair enough. I still think its a big risk playing youth players in the top division when they haven’t had at least some experience of the Championship first, not many bottom six premier league teams put players in the first team straight away especially when they have only just come up from the league below.
We have a Championship level academy, we attract Championship level players. From that you can expect one or two stars to come through and make the grade. We have one in the first team who Mick blooded and brought through Wayne Hennessey.
The big test is will be next season, if they can break through and establish themselves in a decent Championship promotion squad then they’ll be ready for a premiership campaign for survival.
yeah but surely there’s an argument to play them now, we’ve got nothing to lose but the kids would gain a huge amount. Playing against the likes of City and Arsenal in the coming weeks would be a real eye opener for them, and then they could hopefully build on that experience with an extended run the championship.
Can it just be over please?
it already is mate
Firstly, thank goodness you’re all right, I was worried you might have jumped off the Manders Centre car park at full time and we may never see another blog again”!
Surely this result will make the last few optimists realise that the time for clapping happily is now behind us. I echo the sentiments above that we need a new manager in charge before the end of the season, give him a chance to see who’s on the books and who he wants to keep.
I think SEB and Kites will still be here next season, I’d love for Fletch and Doyler to stay but think Fletch will probably make good his escape.
Some of the dead wood we need rid of includes: O’Hara, Johnson, Jonnson, Berra, Stearman, Craddock (bless him) Elokobi, and Hunt.
We desperately need a new defence (where have I heard that before?) and I think we should get some of the kids playing now, give them a taste of defending against top flight attackers. We’re gonna lose the remaining fixtures anyway, we might as well gain something out of it, even if it is a harsh lesson in being ripped to shreds by superior opponents. You never know, they might even do better than the incumbent losers and keep it down to just the one goal conceded…
I think your being a bit harsh on Berra, Hunt, Eggert Jonnson, O’hara and Stearman. All of them would be relatively useful at Championship level and O’hara is a class above when fit and on form. They have been poor this season and aren’t premiership class but they are good for the championship and would likely be snapped up by a promotion rivals were we to sell. Don’t get me wrong though, if by a miracle QPR, Wigan and Blackburn went into administration before the end of the season and we stayed up I would want all of them them barring O’hara cleared out and an entirely new back four brought in.
As for Elokobi he hasn’t pulled up any tree’s at Forest so really doesn’t make the grade and Craddock should be moved into the backroom staff if he wants to stay.
Quite right with stearman, I’ll concede that one.
Hunt is all hustle and bustle, he doesn’t seem to actually do anything, and he doesn’t even do the hustle n bustle bit particularly well anymore.
Berra maybe ok at champ level but he’s clearly not a prem defender, how we’ve not conceded a pen from one of his set piece wrestling bouts is beyond me. Keep him till we get promoted again maybe…
Jonnson is, thru no fault of his own, just the kind of uninspiring transfer that we didn’t need in jan. I suppose I just want rid of him for that, he would probs find his level in the champ to be fair.
O’Hara won’t wanna play for us any more after the fracas outside mol the other week. He’s not wanted play for large chunks of this season either… He does have flashes of quality, and in a decent prem side with a decent coaching staff will probs look quite good next season. I just reckon get rid of anyone whose fallen out with the fans, get em out the dressing room, it can’t be good having them in there.
There is a point which y’all have missed, and that is the coaching/training methods used ( or not, in our case)
With a fresh manager comes a fresh staff of coaches and trainers, who will have totally different ideas on how the game can be played, how our players can improve and different ideas on motivation and tactics.
We have been stuck with Connor for over 12 years, and he is well past his sell by date.
And our beloved owner and ceo expectede change, and fresh approaches?
Do me a foavor, who’s been designing all the crap that’s been served up this season?
TC
I have often wondered why our players seem more injury prone than other teams’ and I reckon it’s down to poor training ground work, and even possibly poor medical/physio staff.
We need a cleanout of ALL ex championship players, and I mean all.
I sat this morning, at 4.00am and watched the whole of the first half from Saturday’s game, with the sound off, and it was a chilling experience.
No commentary to tell me who is playing well, etc, etc….just my own observations.
I would not give tuppence for any of them.
The ones we have who played for us in the championship still look like championship players, only older.
And Fatty Blake, what a donkey, he’s even got man tits, for fuck’s sake!!
He waddles along, doing nothing.
Fletcher should have scored all three chances he got, no excuses, and Jarvis once again scurried up the wing, but did NOT put in that many telling crosses.
And Johnson.
What a total twat.
The only player who seemed to be trying was Stearman, and after he got the ball in his bollocks, he struggled for a while.
No, we need a complete clearout, from top to bottom, pay off the contracts and get all new faces in.
The contracts of those who are un sellable (which is most of them ) can be covered by selling the likes of Jarvis, Hennessey etc.
And we can give Johnson away…..let him have a crate of scotch and he’ll sign for anyone.
I know, let’s give him to the shit, seeing as he’s making a habit of helping clubs get relegated!!!
FOJM
Agree with everything you say there clive barring your assessment of Ebanks. I think come next season we’ll be glad him, Kights and Hammil stayed as they tear up the championship. They aren’t premiership class but they are top of the championship class and as that’s where we’re heading I ‘m quite glad we’ve got them.
Now if only Steve Morgan can get off his fat arse and sack JM, TC, RJ and get in the new manager he wanted in the first place, Curbs, we might have a chance of keeping one or two of the few ‘stars’ we’ve got when we go down.
The whole thing is now embarrassing to watch. I don’t like the players, the management are clueless and as for the chief executive – he makes my blood boil. What’s worse is the old boys crew (I’m looking a you Kamara, you DUMB, smug c*nt) are sitting there saying none of it would’ve happened had we kept Mick. Well bollocks to that, it’s McCarthy’s team and they’re shit, the playing style is McCarthy’s as are the training methods.
FO
What ever is said about Mick I just don’t think it would have been this dire had he stayed in charge yes we would have probably gone down anyway but it seems now it is without a fight.
Two things I am pretty much certain wouldn’t have been tolerated by Mick.
1. Team Captain turning up pissed and then being allowed to retain the captaincy
2. Team Captain and Goalkeeper having a full blown barney on the pitch and both of them staying on.
I just don’t think McCarthy should be getting off scott free in all of this. The guy refused to sign foreigners, played football from the 80’s and his win percentage stinks. We’d have more points if he was still in charge, but he should’ve been sacked at the end of last season. The failure this season belongs to Mick far more than it does to Terry Connor
http://www.wolves.co.uk/page/News/0,,10307~2710154,00.html
About the most honest assessment we’re going to get from the club atm… Kightly knows we’re down, and I suspect that just about everyone else associated with the club knows it too. Even Connor, despite what he says; I mean, what else was he supposed to say?
We need a reshuffling of this team and it’ll start next season in the Championship – provided Moxey and Morgan don’t screw up that is! If we’re stuck with another Hoddle-type manager…
I commend TC for his remarkable longevity, however one point out of sixteen, just unacceptable failure, and like a rabbit in the headlights, totally out of his depth.
The question is why has he been there so long, what exactly is there which has kept him as a no 2 to so many managers, and now the rumours are that Curbishley was told TC had to be part of his team, hence he refused the job. WHY is Tc so untouchable?. Great coach he may be??? but he remains part of the problem, continuing to play 2 isolated wide men just like MM, sorry you need more numbers in midfield in the modern game.
While TC didn`t sign Johnson, he did make the inept Ward skipper in his place. At least I had the common sense to do some gardening at 3pm on saturday, but was still gutted with the result, but no great surprise. Clear the decks with the coaches, clear out the ceo who should resign for his business failings this season if he had the slightest bit of decency about him. TC must go also given the fiasco of the last 6 weeks or so, if only to give the new manager full control of playing matters and personnel when he starts.
The G in your name is very important today mate
My sources who must remain secret, but who I trust implicitly, tell me it’s because Connor is related by marriage to greasel.
Wives sisters and brothers and shit like that.
if you call me tomorrow I can tell you my source!!!
What can us, the real fans, do about this complete shitty mess. We can’t boo the players when they are obviously not trying. We can’t protest outside the billy quiet as it brings shame to the club. We can’t unfold banners in the ground as it looks like we are not supporting the club. We can’t keep quiet in the stadium as this annoys the happy clappers. We get insulted by mad mick calling us numpties. and fat prick jez insults our intelligence. Roger shithead called us disgraceful at start of season. Jamie shithead
minga of a wife called us disgraceful. WOT CAN WE, THE TRUE FANS, Who will be here long after this current bunch of arsewipes have gone, do to sort our club out.
not a lot mate. just turn around, drop your trousers, bend over and let moxey & co bugger you senseless.
Thats defo how it feels at the moment. Our hands are tied while bitin pillow. Not good.
I’m on the next plane!!!
i think we all feel totally the same and i think if someone organised a march or a huge protest i mate would be the first in the queue. cant be right can it . as i blogged recently WE own the club and if WE stayed away maybe just maybe we would be listened to for once instead of being patronised by captain mainwaring !!!!!
I kind of wonder when the 3 M’s signed Johnson if they signed the wrong Blues defender by accident.
How’s the new stand coming on?
Morons deafening silence says it all-they haven’t a clue-now Greaseball is coming out
saying Clippie was the right appointment.
The lunatics have taken over the asylum.
Heaven help us if we think this lot are capable of making the right decisions.
Table for two anyone?
FOGREASEBALLMORONJOHNSONCLIPBOARDETC
Roger Johnson has been an absolute disaster but I am at least prepared to accept the ‘hindsight’ defence from the 3Ms on that one because I (and most other fans) thought he’d be a significant improvement. If you’d told me we’d have Bassong and Johnson as our centre-back partnership in the summer I wouldn’t have believed we could be in this mess.
Where there is no hindsight defence for Morgan and Moxey is in regard to the decision to cling onto McCarthy long after he had ceased to be an asset and then appointing Terry Connor. It’s so obvious it hardly needs saying but none of us would have given Connor the job.
So when he then does a job that will surely rank as statistically the worst of any Premier League manager in history, the blame must lie firmly with Morgan and Moxey – an awful decision that has cost the club millions.
When you consider the loss in millions for dropping out of premier league, loss of advertising, damage to the global (ha) branding, to the cost of appointing a decent manager and buying them out of their existing contract instead of only looking at out of work managers. Smart business decisions morgan and moxey and fellow board members. Wot a bunch of idiots. In fact i would describe them as numpties
just read moxeys statement on e+s……pride comes before a fall you brainless greedy moron!!and boy what a fall!!!this bloke must be blinded by his concieted arrogant pride cos he aint seeing what everyone else are seeing ,,i am totally dumfounded by what i read – i also lay a bloody shed load of blame at the feet of johnson the other moron! something i would never ever have suggested to wolves fans out there is to stay away till the axe falls!!! this is by far the lowest point i have ever seen wolves ..even beats division 4 football…stay away if you love the wolves or the rot will continue!!!!!!!!!!!111
I am crying with laughter after just reading moxey in the express and star. The bit about objectives and bring through young players actually made me piss myself. Once we are mathematically certain of relegation, we, the real fans who pay money into the club, and not employees takin money from the club, shpuld do what old goldy suggests and boycott one home game. This is the only thing that might get the board to realise we are not numpties. Everyone on this blog said o’connor was the wrong appointment. Everyone. Lots said we would support him, and we have. How could we see it was the wrong appointment at the start and these so called experts could not. Morgan said hindsight was a wonderful thing. Wot an absolute buffoon
Jez still claiming that Connor was the right appointment reminds me of Adolf Hitler, sitting in his bunker, still thinking the war could be won with the Red Army encircling Berlin.
His arrogance truly knows no bounds. Everyone knows you fucked it up Jez. Stop telling us you didn’t!
We used to have a team and a manager for all his faults made the most of it. We lack of fighting spirit is shameful. Where next, championship. What we need is a leader on and off the pitch
Like everyone else i to want Morgan to give us answers and TELL THE TRUTH of whats been going on this season of all seasons, without that fat greasy bastard moxey giving him the spin
to try to appease us.what i mean is i prey he has the good sense to sack him as soon as the final whistle goes at wigan or when we are mathematically down and take that joke of a coach with him and have a complete clear out from top to bottom.there’s no point in talking about the match because its in the past and all it does is wind me up,and thats been happening for long time this season.one thing i would like to add is next season in the championshite or by some miracle we do stay up,we must get the right manager in who’s got true vision with morgan to propel this club back to the premier league and PLAY SOME REAL FOOTBALL.
ALL WE WANT IS THE TRUTH.FOJM,FOTC.
I read Moxeys comments on the Wolves website before reading the blog and I thought to myself ‘well the fat man has sang’ so we must be going down – I like many others am just so sick and tired of the flannel and spin coming out of the club. Tell it like it is and they may just retain a little bit of fan’s respect but to come out with tosh like the objectives of the club are investing in new players (when we patently have not invested wisely and in the last window not invetsed at all except for a ‘one for the future’ defensive midfielder from near bankrupt Hearts!), academy players (not until we are almost down and out of options), stands (oh seriously – how can he insult us with this?), sound footing (well lets see how that works in the fizzy pop league eh?).

Its not all bad might win a game next year and get a new manager terry conner can be a manager he look’s like a rabbit in head lights every game so bring on the championship!

Translation of today’s Jez-speak:
“We will keep going, the season isn’t over yet,” – the sale is still on in the club shop.
“We are confident that regardless of what happens this season, this club will prosper.” – whatever happens I will still get my bonus.
“We have the foundations in place at Wolves for success” – the brickwork for the new restaurant is nearly finished.
“We have the desire to win every game on a week-to-week basis” – We always do the lottery.
“Nothing will knock us off our belief to deliver success in the medium to long-term.” – every will be OK in ten to twenty years time.
“We have the determination to give fans what they want on the field of play and what they want off the field.” – The grass is better this year and we’ll be replacing the clock.
“We have a clear game plan” – (this does not translate!)
“It’s very painful for everyone.” – keep buying expensive tickets for poor quality football.
Back (and gold) humour but unfortunately much of it is true.
is black and gold
In a season where i dont think refereeing decisions have really evened themseleves out for Wolves you can google Jon Moss referee and find a contact email/address should you wish to ask him why he awarded 2 such soft penalties (including the one at Everton).
The reason for a director of football.
DOF – ” well Mick – in the four years at the club how many centre halves have you signed – Darren Ward, Neil Collins, Myyokoulo, Shakell, Stearman, Berra, why on earth do you want to sign another one, this Johnson from Birmingham, when you have trouble deciding which of the other six to play already”.
MM – “well Johnson is close to the England squad, and the Blues defence is much tighter than ours, they let in half the goals we do, and he`s not that expensive at £4.5M. Plus I will make him captain”
DOF. ” Well Mick – its true the Blues have a better defensive record, but thats because they play with 2 holding midfielders to protect the defence. They don`t play with 2 wingers and often only have one player up front. For Johnson to be a success at Molineux, he needs to play in a similay system to when he palys at Blues, don`t you think?”
MM “oh I never thought of that”
How it works with Moxey. ” Its a deal Mick, his salary is within budget so I should get my bonus. Who do I make the cheque payable to, oh and what position does he play. Great news he`s from another midlands club, no need to cover any hotel costs. Can we loan out any of the other centre halves to get some money back in the kitty, as my bonus depends on it. Is he relocating closer to the city as the owner has some houses for sale, we can arrange the mortgage and get some commission to help my bonus.”
DOF – No Mick he is shite, useless, lacks pace, the other players at Blues think he is a real tosser, and at any price a great waste of money. Go coach the other six centre halves you alreay have.
True as mate. I saw Steve Kean interviewed after the utd game tonight and he had an in-depth tactical discussion with the presenter for several minutes. I was watching it and trying to imagine McCarthy talking like that. I couldn’t.
Before we all get too excited about next season.
Current performance levels would put us mid table championship at best..
Championship clubs have moved on and progressed..
We have stood still for 3 years and would struggle to beat the top 10 teams in that league…
(Birmingham This year Cup) is one example.
Cant believe we are going back to play in an Easier league…
The championship is the hardest league to get out of.
Morgan and Moxey need to Shut up and put up or sell up…
Morgan OUT!!! Moxey OUT!!! TC OUT!!! Johnson OUT!!!
But it will be cheaper, so greasel can get a fatter bonus.
He’ll keep Connor, and all of the players on piss poor wages, and sell all the higher waged players, thus fattening his wallet even more, and then bring in the young and hungry DNA type players, pay them peanuts, and tell us at the end of the season when we go down to the third division that we have a very long term plan in place and this was part of it.
fuckin’ wanker, someone needs to smash his smarmy face in.
Thanks for answering my call Ben.
Couldn’t turn a duvet cover, like that one . How useless is that bloke. the worst thing is we may have to put up with him next year as well cos who’s going to pay him£40k a week? Think about it, £40k a week for an unprofessional, nasty piece of work who’s crap at football and loves slagging off his own supporters. I’d terminate his contract now and write the money off. Bad apples have to be got rid of.
The sad thing is that we actually played very well until the penalty and should have been a couple up by then. Much improved performance, apart from the defence. I predict we’ll see some more good performances now it’s too late and the pressure’s off. Also look out for more eye catching performances from Jarvis and Fletcher and Doyle if he gets the chance. We may be heading for the championship but they’ll be straining a gut to stay in the prem.
As for Moxey, well where do you start? Like all tin pot dictators he’ll argue black’s white if it suits. ‘TC is the best man for the job. We are playing better now, it’s just bad luck we’ve lost 8 home games on the trot. Don’t worry about it supporters, it’s all part of a cunning medium to long term plan.’
Well thanks mate but i’d prefer the short term plans of Swansea and Norwich where they start playing premiership football straight away. Oh yeah and they have a great idea you’ve probably never heard of called winning some games now and then and sending the fans home happy on a saturday afternoon.
We all know what your medium to long term plan is you self satisfied smug little twat(oo that felt nice!), another 5 to 10 years of £1m plus salary and a cosy retirement in some tax free haven where there might even be a decent football team to watch.
In my opininion, the major problem at our club is the lack of respect for the fans. It’s as if they don’t realise this is suppose to be entertainment. We are supposed to get enjoyment out of it! I really do feel it’s time the fans took this club back and as some others have suggested, the only way is to vote with your feet.
Moxey needs to go and take his hideous DNA with him. Perhaps we can then find a decent manager who is prepared to come to us. A manager that puts the fans first.
What we need is a fans parlament, with your’s truely and Ben with a few others to take to Steve
Morgan to ask him some poignant questions of whats happened to our club and why the club disrespects the fans so much.
I don’t give to much blame to Morgan as he’s got no experience of running a football club,
but that fat greaseball Moxey should be made culpable for most of whats gone on this season. The sooner we get answers the better so we can all move on and start afresh next season what ever league we’er in.FOJM.FOTC.His scapegoat.
The trouble Johnok, is we’ve already got a fan’s parliament where Moxey goes through the motions and pays lipservice to the fans which means nothing really.
Not a bad idea to contact Morgan directly though. How about an open letter to him laying out what we think is wrong with the club and the direction we’d like it to take in the future. Any fan who agreed could then offer his name to endorse it. Somehow we need to tell them how totally pissed off a lot of us are.
Thomas and Ben are you upto writing one?

Interesting piece from Lou Macari about how Stoke and Wolves are both run, doesn’t take a genius to read between the lines….

Nice to hear a footballing man mirroring what we all have been saying all season (if not longer!)
Our club is a laughing stock…
If ever there was a time to blood the youngsters, it is now.
Firstly, the current “first teamers” are playing 100% crap.
Secondly, we are now told on the extremely difficult to open sanitized site that Craddock,
O Hara and Hunt are more than likely done for the season, further reducing our already reduced squad numbers.
So what do we do?
Extend the loan arrangement of one of our youngsters to Tranmere.
This is a kid who has scored goals, which is more than can be said for most of our regulars.
So, yet another option goes begging, and we are left with an ever depleting stock of players to pick from.
Fabulous planning, yet again.
We should not expect anything else this season. We can commend the management for being consistent…….100% totally useless, mindblowingly bad decisions all year, no exceptions.
I wonder how much piss the Stoke fans will take out of us for keeping Greasel for so long, or will they feel sympathy?
And I suppose McDickwad is watching the Champions League matches this week, thinking to his deluded self “this is where we would have been next year if I hadn’t unfairly got sacked”
Luckily for me, the Houston Dynamos stadium is nearing completion.
Take note morgan, it was started less than a year ago, from a bare patch of ground, and will be full to capacity every game, so I can watch a standard of football akin to English third division…………a bit like wot will be played at The Mol next year!!!
Come on Ben and Thomas, we need a new blog topic to tide us over until we start ranting about how many we’ll ship at Stoke!!
FOJM
no leader on the pitch and no leader off the pitch….oh the hokey cokey oh the hokey cokey!! and my pensions what its all about…really great foundaions eh ?? dont blink cos this great football club is crashing down and i am so pissed off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Personally I think it is time for Wolves fans to make themselves heard.
We are relegated mainly due to the mismanagement of the club.
We support this mismanagement by attending and giving money to the board.
Stop going, stop lining their pockets and they will get the message.
I support Wolves and have done for 40 years, but I will give them as little attention as I can, until this mess is sorted out.
It speaks volumes for the apathy of all of us when there have been only three additions to our beloved blog in three days.
Come on Benny boy, let’s have the Stoke preview.
I miss my morning blog fix.
I stopped going to matches 2 years ago, driven away by Mad Micks shitty football.£500 a year to watch that crap ? Not bloody likely. And that, after being a fan for over 45 years.MM knows how to get out of the CCC but that’s his limitations exposed.Once he gets out of it he can’t improve and progress. His mantra(buy ’em cheap and get ’em to run and run and run) is donkeys years out of date. His buys have mostly been shit and even when he unearths a gem he ruins them with his ‘putting a shift in’ policy. Now is the time to talk to a list of prospective managers.Morgan has contacts,he should be taking advice from them and the likes of Fergie and his ilk and get in an ambitious young manager.
