When it comes to tales of incompetent irony, nobody does it better than the place we all call home.

The Comedy Club. The Custard Bowl. Or as I’m now resigned to calling it, the Lunatic Asylum.
As the heavens mercilessly opened before kick-off, we scurried to the gleaming £18 million North Bank bar for cover.
In a monstrosity we’re supposed to be grateful for, the very team Jez promised we’d never ‘do’ was being replicated on dozens of plasma screens as far as the eye could see. (We even saw the updated Premier League table afterwards to underline Moxey’s prophecy)
With brows-beaten and medicine administered, we shuffled through our turnstiles like Proles on a nightshift.
We stare past billboards of insulting platitudes, gaze through O’Hara tweets about ‘Reading revivals’ and drag our sodden bones to our seats like gluttons for punishment.
‘I should bet on Guedioura scoring the winner,’ mumbled a weathered old soul beside me.
In a lop-sided Molineux stadium where nothing makes sense anymore, the bookies had stopped taking bets.
The South Bank clock tells a different time, the fourth official’s board is waterlogged and every signpost of reality is suspended in a parallel universe that glorifies our arch rival’s achievements in a week we charge £7 for our own.
In the exclusive world of Wolves, we sell a match-winner without affording Solbakken the privilege of seeing him train.
We turn down a Frimpong loan with an excuse concocted for Chris Powell merriment.
And we fail to back the manager with Demidov and Geromel defensive targets in pre-season, leaving us exposed for the foreseeable future with a failed defence we all knew was crap.
In another game of unadulterated misery, there’s no need for a match report. Just think of one in your head and you’d get it.
If you’re anything like me, you always get it.
Guedioura played a one-two just inside our half and surged into space before unleashing a goal of such unerring quality, the South Bank rose to applaud.
When faced with a similar opening moments later in Forest’s half, David Edwards shanked a through ball with all the panache of Mountfield.
‘You couldn’t make it up,’ grumbled an old soul too weathered to muster a sigh.
‘Wanna bet?’ Said his mate. ‘We always make things up down here.’

Well said Ben.
Saw the game on TV.
Foley, Berra, Ward,Edwards were useless.
Sacking SS will get us nowhere, for his signings stood out, head & shoulders above the remaining dross.
The defence was dreadful.
I have to see the whole thing ‘Jarryesque’ Theatre of the Absurd.
morgan and moxey are ruining, have ruined (?), the club.
Not sure what one can say other than with a bit of luck we will still be in this division next season.
Surprised you’ve still got the motivation to blog at all, Ben!
Feels like the mid-80s, all over again, does it not?
A shout out to Putney Wolf, who alerted me to the best web-feed I’ve managed to find all season. Thanks mate. At least I got to see Adlene’s superb goal. The rest does not bear commenting upon.
Can you share the feed with us please
It was this one …
https://wolvesblog.com/5286/wolves-vs-nottingham-forest-preview/comment-page-1#comment-31837
No worries mate, for future reference I found the feed on http://www.myp2p.pe ,there were a couple of links but that seemed the best one.
the best one:
http://atdhenet.tv/index.html
For all wolves supporters worldwide just type the word WIZIWIG into google and a world of free sport live streams is available !!! ITS THE ONLY WAY TO GET MY DOSE OF MISERY WATCHING ME BABBIES ! IT WORKS FOR ME IN HOLLAND MAN !!! fwaw !
Don’t disagree with a word of that mate.
What rankled me about Guedioura yesterday wasn’t so much his goal (we know he has that in the locker) but the assured, consistent performance he turned in. Too erratic we were always told. All he ever needed was some coaching and a run of games. Unlike Davis and Edwards, he has the raw talent.
While we’re on the subject, Milijas should never have been let go either. We want to play a passing game, but are happy to get rid of the best passer we’ve had at the club in the last 30 years? Never understood that one.
Throw (a half-fit) Frimpong into the mix and you’ve got a trio of midfielders all superior to anything we had on the pitch yesterday.
Lunacy.
Despite all these decisions, I WOULD NOT sack the the manager. That’s not the answer.
To get rid now, uproot the entire coaching staff and start again from scratch doesn’t make sense. He hasn’t had a fair crack.
Yes, he is more than partly to blame, but needs the January window and the chance to get his players back from injury.
If we end up relegated, then I’ll hang my hat and say I was totally wrong. But I think he’ll turn it around.
its not if mate but when.
January transfer window…that’s what I keep telling myself. January transfer window… that and O’hAra – for some reason he’s not the saviour in my mind
Agreed Hamlet. Ohara looked good on loan, then has been a bit of a liability, caught out of position lost momentum in games, misread game…. He has a lot of work to do, to fit in this new team.
Surely it’s not just us on here that see the defensive frailties?
I don’t think that it’s time for changing. But time to work on defending
I meant ‘now the saviour’ lol but like I say I dunno why – more than one new player is needed here, whether back from injury or new signing
Ben, your prose was worthy of a James Joyce novel – our football was unworthy of Yootha Joyce.
If we had George and Mildred in defence they couldn’t be any worse.
For the younger of you who don’t know what the Sam Hill I’m talking about, ask your Dad.
For the older gits like me, open a bottle of Oz Shiraz, down it in one and cast your mind back to the teams of yore.
The Doog, Waggy, Kenny Hibbit, big Frank, Johnny Richards, Mike Bailey and all the others who gave us such entertainment and made us feel proud to be Wolves supporters.
I sure as sh*t don’t feel proud at the moment!
George and Mildred? I was thinking more like Terry and June, Doog. And no, I don’t mean John Terry either!
sad act and GINGER pubes describes them perfectly!!!!
MAN , CAN YOU IMAGINE YOOTHA’S FACE AFTER 9 GAMES WITHOUT A WIN ??? SHE WAS FURIOUS AT THE BEST OF TIMES MAN !! BULLDOG CHEWING ACID WASP !!! fwaw !
Morgan the silent one needs to talk to the fans, and he better make it soon.
Either back Stale or piss off and take that fat greasey twat
with him. Sell the club morgan to somebody with ambition.
At the moment I can’t blame the manager, sure he has made some mistakes
but I’m convinced the two at the top are holding the club back.
Not even the special one could do anything with these useless MM
players. Stale has in my opinion got an impossible job.
Lets face it, he has no money, no good decent wage structure, and crap
players who can’t or won’t play the way he wants.
He must be thinking that maybe Cologne was bad, but this place
is fast turning into a mad house.
Like I’ve said before, Moxey said we wouldn’t do an Album@@n,
the only time he has spoken the truth to us long suffering
fans.
I really really really want Morgan to sell this club, and yes to a rich
oil billionaire, or some middle eastern royal family, and don’t care.
All I want is Wolves to bloody win somethin, and to start feeling good
about football again.
Sell up Morgan you parasite…
win something ? A match would be a start.
Totally agree, but I can’t see where this next win its coming from.
Sell the club Morgan you don’t deserve to own it.
thats a FACT!!!!
I think we all appreciate how you feel but I’m not so sure about an Russian oligarch or Arab Sheik.
I know they’ve had a lot of success but, like Wolves, Chelsea are run by someone who doesn’t give a toss for anyone else but himself.
Nobrainovich can do exactly what he wants and the fans can go and hang for all he cares. If he ever decides to walk away with his money Chelsea will be in deep doodoos.
I would like us to be taken over by by a reasonably wealthy British businessman who CARES about the club and is prepared to invest a decent amount in trying to make it successful.
Anyone got Sir Jack’s phone number?
I COMMAND ALL WOLVES FANS TO GO AND BUY LED ZEPPELIN’S ENTIRE CATALOGUE OF ALBUMS SO WE CAN BOOST BOB PLANTS BANK BALANCE AND BOBS YER UNCLE !! BETTER BOB PLANT AS OWNER THAN BOB THE BUILDER !! OR NOT ????? fwaw !!
Already done it mate. Got’em all on vinyl, CD and MP3.
Can’t do any more.
Do you think if we were owned by Bob the singer he’d buy us a stairway to heaven?
LOVE IT !! FOLLOWING WOLVES FROM AFAR INSTEAD OF A LEISURELY STROLL THRU SUNNY WHITMORE REANS TO GET TO THE MOL. IS LEAVING ME DAZED AND CONFUZED MAN !! I JUST CAN’T QUIT YOU WOLVES !!! fwaw !
I’d ask for extra points on the prediction league for predicting guedioura scoring a screamer for the winner but, as everyone predicted the same, inevitable thing. It would seem a bit useless.
What are we to do. We’re a broken club in need of fixing. We’ve got a supposedly great carpenter to do it, but with no tools or material, he’s just sitting on the side waiting.
Turning down frimpong and selling gueds, both higher management decisions that have screwed us over.
Sad times lads, sad times.
Theres nothing left to say. I expect Wolves never to win again before playing Ebbsfleet in the BSQ.
This is the worst team for 30 years and could be worse than Docherty’s boys. I don’t see how anyone can turn this round. The players left are hopeless. MM keeping this lot in the premiership for 2 seasons is now looking like a miracle. Perhaps he was merlin the magician after all.
Are there really 3 teams worse than this ? How on earth are we going to get to 50 points ?
The majority seem to want to keep the manager. If we do then he has to take the majority of the blame when we go down.
IF we go down – IF! 😉
Morgan and Moxey are the ones ultimately to blame if we go down.
If they back the manager with the proper funds we will be ok,
it’s as simple as that, they are killing this club.
Sell Morgan, you ain’t kept your promise to a proper chairman like Sir Jack.
Where is all the money? Where is the £30mill you promised Sir Jack?.
Oh sorry I know where it is, it’s in all these fu@king building projects all around
Wolverhampton.
I hope Stale ain’t going to made a scapegoat once the natives get restless.
I agree with Thomas wouldnt sack Stale yet we would probably spend the next 6 weeks interviewing Peter Reid.
Got to see the match in Aus.
So many things to be upset about (gaping defence, impotent attack etc), but the most worrying thing for me was watching the last 20 minutes without any hope of creating a decent chance – there was nothing to suggest an ounce of creativity from Foley, Ebanks Blake, Forde, Edwards, Pennant, Davis… Probably add Doyle, Sigurdarson and Doumbia to that list too.
If any positive can be taken, i thought it was good to see Sigurdarson get a goal and he looked quite sharp at times. (More than can be said for SEB!!) All in all though, this was just horribly predictable.
I think January will be a telling time and will show the true colours of M&M. Will we get what we so badly need or will we once again be fobbed off with yet another £500k pointless signing that whilst falling neatly into Moxeys chokingly restrictive wage structure will bring nothing of value to the squad!
enough is enough.
lessons never learned; and being a Wolves fan continues to be synonomous with disappointment, frustration, underachievement and wasted passion.
the long term plan is pure bullshit. Unless the master plan is to rebuild completely from the Blue Square Bet Premier. any plan must surely involve winning games? especially against modest opposition. it is ever more patently obvious the manager doesnt know the English game and the team are lost.
a bold appointment, perhaps, but it ain’t working. face up to it and get someone in for January.
ps. you deserve a medal Ben; most would have thrown in the towel.
That second half is up there with the worst performances I’ve ever seen. 2-1 down and not an effort at goal, all as I’m getting soaked at the front of the new stand. One thing is clear, it’s not working at the moment. Millwall on Tuesday, sounds winnable on paper, but they’re the form team and just spanked Blackburn. They’re sure to deliver another one here.
I am by nature an optimist- a glass half full person- but by the end of the second half I felt someone had taken the glass, ground it up and was rubbing it into my eyes. It was so painful to watch.
There are many negatives- Tongo is not a defensive midfielder Sako is not a defensive midfielder Edwards is not a passing or tackling midfielder Pennant is a half hearted midfielder. We can’t keep the ball enough. We can’t pass and move enough. The midfield provides little if any protection for a defence which although resolute and brave has the mobility of table footballers.
Doyle has forgotten how to score. Foley seems to be forgetting how to pass. Davies seems to be regressing as a player.
There are some positives Sako had the beating of Hutton pretty much every time he ventured forward. Sigudarson injected some much needed pace into the attack.
I realise it is tempting to mourn the loss of Milijas and Guediora and what might have been but it is also important to remember what their contribution was when they actually played.
Solbakken needs to implement a plan B until January which will enable us to grind out some results then buy the players to match his plan A. The board need to back him or come up with plan C. The speculation looks like being a lot more exciting than the football.
Well said Danny, your posts are always very incisive.
Just to add that when Guedioura scored, Doumbia had taken the ball into their penalty area and lost it, mainly through lack of support.
Edwards watched as the ball passed him by and then raced back, too late, to cover for Doumbia.
It seemed to me that we were always playing with 9 men as a varying two, were always totally disinterested.
As for their first goal, how could that back four have let their player be onside to receive the ball?
To paraphrase Hamlet:
“Something rotten in the state of Molineux.”
Also, what a monstrosity of a stadium Morgan has built, about as ugly as that photo of him picking his nose.
Ben, the only saving grace about Wolves at the moment is the quality of your match reports! If we had similar quality on the pitch we’d be going places instead of spiralling into obscurity.
Thanks Carl, very kind! I tried to portray the general mood around the place more than a ‘report.’ Everything is just wrong wherever you look. Some things are obvious (like a strict liability rule on showing WBA on every passing plasma) while others require a modicum of business acumen, which Morgan clearly doesn’t have.
Every matchday ‘touchpoint’ leaves a bitter taste in the mouth and serves to alienate. And now the Forest fans are singing ‘your ground’s too big for you.’
I cringe in embarrassment sometimes.
My belief is that Morgan is incapable of feeling these emotions. It’s not in his DNA. If it was, watching WBA wherever I turned simply would not happen.
He even compares a £7 museum admission to a night at the cinema (making a point about value)
He just doesn’t get it.
Mark Davis for Bolton
Adleine Guedioura for Forest
Surely not Andy Keogh for Millwall.
i couldnt take that right now. lol
Mark Davis for Bolton
Adleine Guedioura for Forest
Surely not Andy Keogh for Millwall.
i couldnt take that right now. lol
Well the JD took a battering…..despite a decent nights kip I feel no better about yesterday’s result, we lacked any cutting edge and the game again passed our midfield by, so why don’t we at least give other players we have a run out, can they be any worse??…here is a link to the MK Dons forum, very boring compared to this very polished site I have to say, but none the less it gave a little insight into Zeli’s first 13 minutes for them.
http://www.thezonemk.co.uk/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=107&t=8177
Surely he is worth a place on the bench??….we could put together a fairly decent side with all the loanee’s out at present combined with the raft of players we have chosen to let go!!
Still, what do I know?
UTW
How do you spell deja vu?
Up to third in the table early in the season, then spiralling down to the relegation depths.
This is so much of a repeat of last season that we dont even need to write new blogs, just copy and paste from a year ago.
The big word right now is IF.
If our board had any balls they would fire the manager. Right now.
If it’s good enough for Chelsea and QPR, its good enough for us.
As correctly pointed out above, the shit culled RDM, got Hodgson, and moved onwards and upwards. Kudos to them…………..bastards.
If the board had any balls they would release the purse strings and unleash the money. Nothing talks louder in football than loadsa money.
If the board had any brains they would see the total apathy of the present team, and do something about it.
If the board had any brains they would realize that disgruntled/pissed off/ fuckin’ mad fans will leave in droves and never come back, thus depriving the board of revenue.
Duh, its not fuckin’ rocket science!!!
From what I can see, there is only one happy clapper left on the planet, Hamsterlet, and even you must be admitting to yourself that we are 100% crap, shit and totally useless from top to bottom.
On a much brighter note, Mrs ClivefromHouston and I spent a very pleasant evening at the home of Houston Lobo and family yesterday.
Thank you Pablo, a splendid time was had by all.
This manager is completely clueless just as the last one was.
Solbakken needs to go now. No good waiting again until it’s too late.
Employed on the cheap, Moxey and Morgan have learned nothing from last year.
Solbakken OUT!!! Moxey OUT!!! Morgan OUT!!!
The manager can’t really do anything if he’s got nothing to work with. Giving him the funds and freedom to sign who he wants comes from higher up.
I can’t say I’d have played a different team this weekend from what we’ve got available.
It’s the big M’s you want to be blaming for this. We needed a complete rehaul after the premier ship fiasco and this half arsed attempt is not the way to do it. Moxey and Morgan have a lot to answer for. Solbakken can hardly be blamed for me at the moment.
im not so sure morph…..all we need to do when we think hes got nothing to work with is look at palace….they ve —- all and are second!!!!! nuff said
What decisions has the manager made so far then… Let me see.
David Davis is better than a 70% fit Frimpong.
Stephen Ward has a job for life at Left Back.
Berra is worth another contract now so he must be good.
Fatty Blake is 3 years past his sell by date, but we have a possible new Blake sitting on the Bench who never gets the chance to show if he is good enough or not…
I could go on and there many more.
He is a much to blame as the 2 clowns upstairs.
I’m not going on Tuesday, I can’t watch another game so soon all of this shite football is doing my head in.
Solbakken OUT!!! Moxey OUT!!! Morgan OUT!!!
total frustration players sold better than ones retained worsted tactics (none) worsted squad in gold and black in years
Echo what Thomas said about Guedioura, by far the most composed player in both midfielders. It beggars belief. People point to the transfer window, but what have we been told in the last week? Oh no, reinforcements wouldn’t be fair to Davis, Forde et al, as we turned our nose up at Frimpong. No wins against Millwall, Bristol City and Blues does not bare thinking about, but it’s a realistic possibility.
In all my year,s of watching wolve,s play i don,t think i have felt so bad.we all turn up to support our team every week . Hoping to see us win a game, but now i hope we can just get a draw.there is no skill in our team or passion.there was a time it ment somethink to a player to put on a gold shirt, not any more ?.you don,t stand a chance when the poeple who run and own the club don,t give a toss. They have just put S.S. HAS A FALL GUY WHEN THE SHITE HIT,S THE PAN, JUST LIKE TT, We need to make ourselves heard, not in the ground. but outside and demand to be heard. by M AND M
A quick competition.
Who said:
1. We won’t do an Albion?
2. It will never happen again?
3. There is a direct correlation between the wages a club pays and their position in the Premiership?
4. We are not in the Premiership just to make up the numbers?
Whoever gets the most correct gets to sit next to Moxey on Tuesday.
Whoever gets the fewest correct gets to sit next to Moxey for the rest of the season.
If I got to sit next to him just once, he wouldn’t available to sit by again so I claim the prize.
Can I have a scarf please?
Answers on a postcard. Oops – scarf and postcard in Houston!
Not yet they aint!!!
I understand that Morgan and Moxey are having a meeting next week to decide whether to sack Stale or to back him in the transfer market.
They have been working on the figures and whichever option is likely to be the cheaper is the one they will adopt.
When the first signing of the season was Nouble on a free, it was obvious that they had learned nothing from last year.
Was Stale given the job because they thought he would be a new broom and bring success? It appeared so at first but the longer it goes on the more likely explanation appears to be that he was cheaper than an English manager and he would probably sign cheaper overseas players.
its all been said!! well written again ben…. the two plebs have got to go..we are going to be back where we started in the early 80 s soon….gutted
I thought we were unlucky to go in at half time level. We had several really good chances at the end of the first half and generally played well. Second half a different matter – not sure what Stale says to the team but we were utter rubbish. Foley in particular was awful.
I said it before but Stale was a gamble appointment. I think they’ll give him time.
We always seem to run out of steam in the second half. Staale said earlier in the season that the players were tired but I could never understand why the opposition didn’t seem to tire like we did. Whatever the reason, our second half performances are a major cause for concern.
Great Blog Ben – summed it all up really – the total hopelessness and futility of being a Wolves supporter at this moment in time. Cock up after cock up wherever you turn.
And another thing to bitch about, Thomas.
You need to adios that picture of fatty Blake.
We need a picture that sums up the season so far…..a graveyard perhaps, or a great big pile of dogalbion, or a map of third division grounds, or an effigy of greasel, full of knives.
i ben just wondered ,would it be possible as a body ,to ask for a meeting with morgan . or am i living in cookoo land. or when they do have meeting can anyone go ?
Petition is what we need to show the pair of bastards how we feel, sorry about the swearing.
but saying that i don’t think it would bother them.
The only thing they think about is MONEY.
CORRECT… as i posted yesterday!!
After his goal does Guedioura not celebrate out of respect to his former club? I can’t make my mind up whether it’s either that or he’s just ‘savouring’ the goal.
He said on the Football League show that he didn’t celebrate. So, yes, mark of respect.
Ah right, that’s good to hear at least!
I think the second half showed how big a job Stale has here, pretty much all the players he arrived to just aren’t good enough technically to play a passing style, which is why we play at such a slow tempo and the lack of inteliigence from players like Doyle, Pennant and Ebanks-Blake is why there is no movement from the front men. Sako seems to be the only one who has the mind to roam.
A new RB, LB, a technical centre midfielder (O’hara if he could ever get fit) and a forward who can drop between the lines are desperately needed.
No reason not to bring the young guys out on loan back in January, Ismail, Cassidy and Griffiths all earning rave reviews..
Well said Ben if there where a Pulitzer prize for a blog then you would win hands down old lad.
The old adage says things must get worse befor they get better but where we are concerned the worse gets worse i’m sad to say.
The only bright spark we have the mo is poor old sako trying to do it all on his own, talk about strengthening the side come january i would’nt blame him if his agent said come on and lets get out of here.
Because i can’t see Poxey & Moron giving SS sufficient money to get us out of the shite they’ve
put us in,
Don’t want to talk about the game its to painful and all been said, just hope we can at least get a draw come tuesday night but won’t hold my breath, but as always i’ll be there for now.UTW.
petition’s what we need, but i don’t think it would do any good to the predicament we’re in.
Thanks John. It’s like we’re enduring an endless migraine right now. Trouble is, after I’ve had a lie down in a dark room, the throbbing is still relentless. If any medication is on the way, it won’t be here til January.
the throbbin’ is in yer pants, young lad.
Did you mean the robbin.as nearly christmas.
Like I said on Friday, get your money on a Guedioura/Keogh double.Andy comes to Molineux on Tuesday; put your bloody mortgage on him.
God help us on Tues. I don’t even wish to think about it.
Great Blog Ben, You look as pissed off with it as I feel. For me the Manager is a waste of space and needs culling. WHY .. simply for me because I have seen absolutley no coached improvement in most of the players who wore the shirts on Sat. In fact some of them have gone BACKWRDS in quality. Foley, Edwards, Blake, Ward. The bench brings nothing onto the pitch either, Davis, Forde. The football is dire .. no pace, tempo, determination, attitude to succeed for the fans or the club .. it will be the same again on Tues. For sure the cheapos at the top are equally as guilty with a strangling wage structure and a fail for sure policy of buying on the cheap unproven nuggets that nevr play and eventuallu get loaned out again , only to be sold off .. for what? success at their new club. Depressing Oh God!
Wow, so much doom and gloom and yes it does seem like deja vu. I think it’s time that our dynamic duo come up with the goods, otherwise Ståle is going to be hung out to dry. We are supporters who expect to be treated better, with more respect and honesty by the owner and his side-kick.
The only one who has attempted to converse with us is Ståle as he is a man who knows that the supporters must be kept in the loop however dismal the reports become. At crucial times dumb and dumber disappear from the limelight and this only makes the situation appear possibly worse than it actually is. I do think that the only way to influence SM to listen is to hit his money making schemes in some way, a loss of revenue will only be tolerated for a short while. He is evidently not a football man, never has been and never will be.
I’ll bet he couldn’t believe his luck when he got his money grabbing little mits on WW, and sooner or later he will be exposed as the hard nosed money-maker that he really is. The only problem is that he is a survivor who knows how to keep one step ahead of the opposition and in the process people support his business acumen.
I haven’t seen anything to suggest to me that he has any love for WW other than it has given him opportunities to milk the benefits of being connected with WW. The malaise at WW begins at this level within the club and will always permeate and infect downwards until a clearout becomes a necessity.
Sorry to sound miserable but I really do think that this episode is going to end in tears.
As ever UTW !!!!!
i totally agree….museum charge..says it all really
We have no problem keeping an awful run going, cant ever seem to keep a positive run going for long. The spirit of the team is so much to do with it. The players we have with a few exceptions ie the new ones are losers with a losers mentality ingrained at this stage. Clear shop, you can’t win with losers . Listen up you scouse ignoramus .
i can only agree with the vast majority of blogs..but what we think goes absolutely no-where to changing things because ginger pubes and his pet just dont care!
Having spent most of the last 30 years outside the top flight we finally get there, stay there and then when relegation threatens we sack a manager more or less guaranteed to get us back up. We press the self-destruct button, take the blue- print for promotion and rip it up. Was this the time for revolution? MM gets the blame, SS gets sympathy. He’s the wrong man in the wrong job at the wrong time. It’s clear the problem is the shoestring budget. MM was not backed properly. SS will not be backed properly. SS does not have a plan B. He needs to go because we’re stuck with Morgan and Moxey and we are going down if this is allowed to carry on. Some managers can do well on a shoestring. We need one of those and we need someone with proven success in the Championship. To think we turned our noses up at Steve Bruce. Look at us now. TC was an embarrassing and disatrous appointment that seemed difficult to top. Hats off to Morgan and Moxey. Spectacular.
I bet morgan and moxey cant believe that they had 22000 turn up on saturday to watch the dross they have served up. They will continue on the financial path if we the fans keep accepting it. If only 10000 turned up, they may think twice and invest in players. They think we are dumb, and we are, for accepting this shite.
living in holland i have turkish mates who support fenebache. to protest the fans turned their backs on the pitch for ninety minutes but sang and chanted for the whole game about supporting the club and not the wankers in charge or the under performing players !!! JUST A THOUGHT !! fwaw !
I just hope Messrs Morgan and Moxey actually read your blog,Ben, and then starting thinking about how they can turn things round.Too much ego and pride can be dangerous ,and the people running our club must realise the current situation is serious and they need to act now. If they let things drift we could very easily end up being relegated again. They should either back the manager in Jan or sack him.If they sack him ,this time a replacement should be sounded out and appointed immediately and he should be backed in Jan. The usual ‘do nothing’ or ‘how little can we get away with’ options are not acceptable to the majority of the club’s customer base.
Dream January- frimpong decides we’re worth ditching charlton for, zeli returns and is thrown into action whipping balls into an on fire Cassidy .baath and margereitter find the form of their life , o hara heads to lourdes and is healed with a perfect groin, morgan and Moxey go to african cup of nations and find out its been cancelled and promptly get lost in the jungle never to be seen again…… Ward heads a search party of your choice with the same result , any other dreams can be posted below.
I could do nightmare May…
Wolves are relegated as Blues gain promotion via the play-offs. Walsall are taken over by a multi-millionaire meaning they will trounce us in League 1 as they storm towards the Champtionship.
Villa escape relegation on the final day of the season while Dan Ashworth alters his succession plan to incorporate Albion’s Champion’s League adventure…
The problem is, it all seems scarily feasible at this moment in time…except for the Walsall bit…why would anyone want to buy Walsall?!!!
Nope Raydewolf, that dream sounds good to me.
Oh! On second thoughts, throw in a large lottery win and a small 21 year old Brigitte Bardot!
Beautifully written, almost poetic piece, Ben. It says something when a Wolves match report is so sad.
This is what Moxey on his own for many years, and now joined and ably supported by Morgan, has led us to.
Two years ago our problem left back was a major issue. Now it’s just a minor detail of a complete and utter shambles.
This is what the smirking, smug, self-satisfied CEO, who values cash in the bank far higher than success on the field, is responsible for.
He boasts of a well-run club with low wage costs and a healthy balance sheet. The reality is a football club where, week on week, the opposition support dance with glee whilst Wolves supporters grimace and trudge home in despair.
ENOUGH!!! This man has to go now. He is ripping the heart and soul out of our great club. Moxey must go and Morgan needs to apologise to us fans and to Sir Jack himself, who gave him this great oppurtunity.
Morgan needs to start spending some of his huge fortune on what really matters at a football club…. top footballers on top wages led by a top manager who is free to make the football decisions ably assisted by a top director of football, something we were promised in the first place.
This is now about much more than just a man failing his customers. In an industry where the customers literally love the product, it’s about breaking their hearts.
I, for one, could kill him.
Thomas, is it possible to do a poll on the % of people on this blog who broadly agree wiith these sentiments and if there is a majority who do, to have our feelings passed onto Moxey himself?
moxey OUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MORGAN out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here are some quotes from the time Steve Morgan took over the club:
Sir Jack is making this gift (selling the club to SM for £10) for the benefit of the club and in order to secure the future of the Club on a long term basis.
in Steve Morgan, Sir Jack feels he has finally found someone who not only has the best interests of the club at heart but also has the resources necessary to take over the responsibility for returning the club to its former greatness.
Moxey, meanwhile, told Sky Sports News: “Steve is pleased with what he has seen of the club and how it’s been run (i.e by ME) . He’s also happy with Mick as manager.
“We are a football club and we’re trying to get to the Premier League. There’s going to be investment into the team.
These comments look a bit sick at the moment (I bet Sir Jack is feeling sick as well when he sees what has happened since that day).
Heres the latest Quote from our inspired manager;
‘Wolves players are ‘scared’ says boss
Under-pressure Wolves boss Stale Solbakken today admitted players have become “afraid and scared” after their season hit a new low’.
Scared???? whatever next!!!! You couldn’t make theses excuses up. If they are scared of playing what the hell are they doing in the team. This statement says it all for me.
you just wish he would come out and say that there are players and officials here who cant hack it at this level. At least that would give him some credibility. it would also make some of this team and others involved with our clubhave a good long look at themselves. Stop playing safe Solbakken.
Earlier in the season SS told us the players were tired, now they are “scared”. Do me a favour, Helmand Province is where you get scared – not the Mol on a saturday afternoon.
I’m just wondering what the next excuse will be.
probably that they cant come out after half time cos their mum says theyve gotta eat all their greens …..just spin spin and more spin…there will be a riot soon if ….. i give up!
They would be scared if they where in Afghanistan fighting the taliban thats what being scared is,not trying to play a game of football and being payed a princely sum.
The new manager has a touch of MM about him, won`t change tactics despite not winning for 8 games. MM loved 442 and teams would play 3 in midfield and bypass our midfield, so no wonder our back four are letting in 2 goals a game, with no midfield protector for the defence.
I`m really pleased I missed the game on Saturday, but I will go tomorrow as I need – like all devoted wolves fans – a football fix at the Golden Palace.
The new faces in Jan will be our loaned out kids – lot less expensive than buying all those new players – coming home. I for one are looking for that, particularly once MM comes along to grab one or two of his mates, lets hope Ward & Foley, Berra as well are on MM`s shopping list.
“The new faces in Jan will be our loaned out kids – lot less expensive than buying all those new players”.
Yes, I agree, that makes perfect sense.
Sad to say I am beginning to realize that the team to which I have given total and absolute support and loyalty to, is never going to come good with the current owner and management.
To think 22,000 turned up on just speaks for the potentiol.
For years we have all seen the decions made and scrathched our heads, accepting they knew what thhey were doing and making excuses to justify it.
I have said before if you just do the simple right things good things happen.
I hate to say this if I lived in the UK I would not be attending games at the moment. What they have done is an insult and our only power is to keep money in pocket asnd protest.
This is however and huge negative and would of course play into Moxeys hands. He would then be saying with this level of revenue we are lucky to be in League 2.
Please guys how do we get rid of them?????????????????????
I have two friends, their names are Smith and Wesson.
Men of this “calibre” could help us!!!!
Its the total lack of comment that pisses me of Clive its just insulting.
Sure he owns the team and can do what he wants, but at least be honest about It.
There is an old but true saying, just follow the dollars. I would love to follow the construction $s
sniper? ill do it!!
Spot on.
Well written article.
Cupla well placed banners in the ground tomorrow night ,like “where’s the money gone Steve” might bring a reaction. Wishful thinking.a mention on sky sports news could go a long way.
SS says the team are scared to play.
Of course they are. He’s asking them to play a brand of football that they are totally unable to produce.
If he can’t see that, and the fact that the longer they go on failing to play his way, the worse it’s going to get.
There are three ways out of this:-
1) He has to change his methods to suit the limited talents available
2) The team has to be totally changed – out with the dross, in with some new blood
3) He has to go and be replaced with someone who can motivate and inspire the team
Well actually, there’s a fourth way – we end up relegated again
For those who haven’t seen it..
Even the Daily Mail are starting to question just what on earth is going on at Wolves..
http://footballleagueblog.dailymail.co.uk/2012/11/mondays-talking-point-wolves-going-stale-under-solbakken.html
Solbakken OUT!!! Moxey OUT!!! Morgan OUT!!!
I have supported the team for 60 years!!!! What I witnessed at the last game was disgraceful. There is no leadership, no structure and confusion. The players are not the best. We know that. Buit what they lack in skill should be abundant in passion to play for the Wolves! Where aree the Eddie Clamps? The Ron Flowers? The Hibbits? The Bullys of today. They would die for the supporters. To me there is no discipline, they don’t care what the management or Solbaken think. They don’t respect them. And sadly they don’t seem to respect us. But as a supporter of so many years I will keep hoping ……..
its a sorry mess gaveston isnt it…the whole lot is rotten including those at the top!! and to be honest the way things are robs me of any hope-we are like a spitfire spiraling towards the ground without the ability to pull out!
yeah but i bet moxey still believes its only the nasty wolves fans that think that way…in a way i hope we lose tomorrow if only to rid the club of the two morons!!
Thanks for posting the link Nige – it could have been written by someone on this blog. Interesting that “outsiders” appear to recognise the problem as well – yet our leaders are oblivious to it.
The Daily Mail isn’t allowed within spitting distance of my house – it’s a purveyor of half truths, lies and dross (allegedly – just in case their legal team is reading this).
Ironic then that this article seems to sum up perfectly what’s happening at the Molineux.
I wonder if Steve the builder and the man who ate all the pies – also purveyors of half truths, lies and dross (also allegedly for the same reason) has read it?
Spitting distance? Far too close for my liking.
Muggins here will be at the game tomorrow night. I just hope that we can put a performance in and get a result. But if your an opposing team you will fancy a win at the Wolves at the moment because of our poor form and team. If i don’t sound optimistic it’s because i’m not.
Many people seem to think that if the dynamic duo open the purse in January and some significant signings are made things could well improve significantly.
BUT who is there at Molineux who knows which players to sign. So, IF the purse is opened look out for more players from overseas.
Did anyone else pick up on the irony in Solbakken’s statement regarding Doumbia “hitting the wall” in terms of fitness…unforgivable, in my opinion, for a play we’ve just shelled out £3m for!!
Can someone please remind me of the reason we didn’t get Frimpong in?? Oh, yes…that’s right…I remember…
I just wish there was someone at the club that would tell us the truth.
Just read it – unbelievable, incredible.
So the poor lad is fatigued after a third of the season and he hasn’t started, or has been substituted in, several games.
I cannot believe the crap that is being trotted out. Excuse after excuse, tired, scared, fatigued . . . . . . . . . . . .
Strange he wasn’t fatigued before he got the permanent contract.
Fatigued????
Fatigued???
He runs around a bit several days a week for a few hours, then has to “work’ for 90 minutes, at most twice a week, and the poor little lamb is tired.
Oh dear, must be terrible to have to do all that on such miserable wages as well.
Fatigued.
Take the prick down the job center, or whatever Indian name it is now, and make him sign on and stand in line for several months, then ask the little dear if he’s fatigued now, or better yet make the tosser sit in the stands and watch the dross he serves up as football, then ask him if he needs a few weeks off.
I’d sack the wanker, should never have the privelege (spellin?) of wearing the fabled old gold and black ever again.
That kind of shit really makes my blood boil.
Sack the fucker.
At least Ward hasnt used that excuse……yet.
Quote from Harry Redknapp today at QPR.
“I need 11 people with ability to put effort in. If they don’t they’re not going to play and I’ll get 11 who do.”
“I’m looking for people to graft and work.
“I’ve got no time for people who lose the ball and throw their hands up in the air or stand around with their hands on their hips. We are in a relegation battle.”
How refreshing wonder why we don’t hear quotes like that out of Molineux.
Redknapp’s basically saying that his players should put in a shift! Yes, why not get someone like that in? 😉
you still clapping???
For someone as rich as morgan, i am really surprised at his total lack of customer service, marketing and public relations. He really needs to go on a charm offensive before it is
too late and the fans turn on him. Then he will have something to cry about when his investment is worthless. He is ruining our club with his money making decisions.
Football isn’t fun anymore.
What happens if we lose to Millwall Tomorrow night? If we do that’s 3 points from 27 !
3 from 27!!
In the championship.
And there are still people who think The Manager should stay???
Morgan needs to open that big fat wallet, pay off Solbakken and Moxey, Then get a manger in who can start to sort this mess out.
Hi Nige, which of these players do you think are good enough and should be doing better? I am not suggesting Solbakken is beyond criticism but one of the worst performing teams in the premiership sells its best two players, has players that didn’t get in the team the last time they were in the division and plus injuries to 3-4 first choice players, I am not sure what a new manager would do? This is not a computer game, players walk out on that pitch and are incompetent as they were last season and seasons before that. How Edwards, Berra, Ward have survived for as long as they have is beyond me, but I think you need to see how this team shapes up when Solbakken has had time to assess the squad and surely replace some of these 3rd/4th rate footballers.
Dan – A new manager tries to stamp his way of playing on the team he has available.
If it became patently obvious that they can’t, or won’t, play that way he should practice damage limitation until he has the chance to change the personnel.
He must have assessed the team by now – we all have – and we’ve got pretty good ideas about what they can and can’t do.
Let them play to their relative strengths (?!) until he can get replacements who are more suited to ‘The Continental’, whatever that is, style of playing.
I just don’t know any more. I wanted MMc sacked and wanted TC gone – now I have grave doubts about SS but I wonder if we will be in the same boat if we sack him.
There’s a lot I don’t get – like why a side which wasn’t cut adrift in the prem until TC took over is now wallowing in the lower reaches of the championship. The manager must accept some blame.
Why didn’t we get someone in during the loan window when we are struggling and have injuries and suspensions to cope with? Frimpers was the obvious choice.
I hear daft excuses like players being afraid and tired – get real.
I could drone on but its all been said before – it all feels so “hopeless” like I’ve had the stuffing knocked out of me.
Only two likes for a reason!
That was supposed to be a response to Nige. Can I have Wolves 1 Millwall 0 (Doyle)
As I won’t get back on until after the match
1. 0
I also want to leave my prediction for the Prediction League.
I am really worried that a midfield, possibly without Doumbia and Sako will have no spark at all.
Will it be a brave, backs to the wall fight with steely resolve?
Or a goal to the opposition leading to dropped heads and despair?
Sadly, I predict the latter: Wolves 0 – Millwall 3
