Bill Murray has a Christmas special on Netflix.

But it’s one of his more familiar films that I find myself recollecting in the wake of another frustrating 90 minutes.
In Groundhog Day, Murray plays a disenchanted news anchor that finds himself doomed to relive the same day over and over again until he gets it right.
Sound familiar?
Whilst there’s positives to be taken out of our performance, the final narrative was gratingly familiar.
And, given the club’s current ‘for sale’ status, it’s hard to see a change coming without drastic action being taken.
With Benik Afobe again consigned to the bench, it’s fair to assume that the club is planning for life without their star forward. Hark back to pre-season and this scenario would seem potentially riot-inducing but it now seems the only plausible route to improvement.
If it’s to be assumed that Kenny Jackett can only spend what he raises come January, then cashing in on our most prized asset seems like an unavoidable cause of action.
Afobe has struggled to raise the standards of a developing team and probably needs a move away as much as we need the transfer fee it would provide.
It’s clear to see that we are not too far away from being a formidable Championship side. On Friday evening, the team were enterprising going forward and created plenty of chances.
However, we were once again handicapped by an inability to punish the opposition and our unhealthy penchant for amateurish defensive mishaps.
Despite some questionable signings as of late, Kenny Jackett has proven himself to be a fairly shrewd operator in the transfer market and would likely put any windfall from an Afobe sale to good use.
Mike Williamson’s brief Indian summer at Molineux proved that good defenders are on the market and Adam Armstrong and Tom Bradshaw’s exploits in League One exemplify the attacking talent that is prevalent elsewhere in the Football League.
With half the season almost gone and Wolves four points shy of the play-offs, these are the sort of acquisitions we ought to be looking to make. But that can’t happen without bidding adieu to our current No. 10.
Regardless of Kenny’s thoughts on that matter, he’s likely to have been pleased with aspects of Friday’s performance.
It may have been Ethan Ebanks-Landell’s slack marking that allowed Forest back into the game but he gave a solid performance up until that point – if he can iron the mistakes out of his game, he’ll be a very good defender.
Jordan Graham continued his excellent vein of form and already looks set to be a key first team player moving forward. Watching him slalom down the left is a real treat and the prospect of him improving with experience is something that we can all be excited about.
Forecasting where we’ll be at the end of the month is a task that most fortune tellers would shirk at but recent improvements means that cautious optimism can be indulged for at least the time being.
After all, even Phil figured it out in the end.

Agree with all this mate, particularly that we’re ‘not far away from being a formidable side’.
Price and McDonald were both excellent. You can build a team around those two.
Graham was also very good, again. Better in the first half than the second, but still plenty to feel good about as far as he’s concerned.
As Ben observed on Twitter, I think Kenny should take a slab of blame for us not winning the game. It was obvious we were tiring and yet he didn’t make any changes to freshen things up.
Surely bringing on Coady to stiffen up the midfield or Doherty to bolster the defence would have helped the team see out the final 10/15 mins?
I also reckon Afobe is out the door in January. Lets just hope Uncle Steve doesn’t gobble up all the pennies though because Kenny needs a couple of players to give us that punch in the final third.
The Sublime, the Grand, and the Tender, adapted to the most elevated, majestick and moving Words, conspired to transport and charm the ravished Heart and Ear.’
So wrote one reviewer on hearing Handel’s Messiah performed for the first time in Dublin April 13, 1742.
Likewise the Southbank’s performance of Jack Hayward’s Barmy Army both transported and charmed the ravished Heart and Ear of this old man.
On the pitch, there was a fine solo performance of “How beautiful are the feet of him” by Jordan Graham. Iorfa tried his best to break Forest’s bonds asunder with his tireless overlapping runs down the right. Generally, the defence abided the Forest attack if not quite with comfort and joy. Price laboured effectively to sort the sheep from the goats and saved our griefs and sorrows when an errant pass from McDonald meant he had to take a card for the team.
But O Wolves where is thy sting? Up front we were all buzz and no Hallelujah. Behold I tell you a mystery. Kenny decides to play the role of the man with one talent in the parable of the talents and keeps his subs hid. Now there is much wailing and gnashing of teeth. And the voices of the Forest fans tell us what we already know: We’re not singing anymore.
Fc*k*ng brilliant.
Thanks mate. Agree entirely with reference to McDonald and Price, they’re an excellent combination.
I hope that SM keeps his mits off the Afobe sale windfall but unfortunately he wouldn’t be going against type if he did. We’ll just have to wait and see how it plays out.
Fingers crossed we can get three points on Thursday. It’s another winnable game.
More and more fans are coming round to the idea that selling Afobe and using the cash to reinforce the side with 2 or 3 new players may not be a bad thing.
Only snag is that any new players will have to accept wages which fit in with next season’s budget and that will be much reduced with the disappearance of the parachute payments.
Any cheap buys in leagues 1 or 2 available?
Oman isn’t code for Moxey is it ?..you are rolling over re Afobe ..how much worse than the current ownership / management era do you want to put us all through?
In the PL Afobe is worth £20M and we have him on a 3 yr contract ..
It would be swapping him for indifferent players (we got a clutch of them) unless we fluked one…
#family silver ffs
Well said … Fed up of selling all our best players .. It’s like we re trying to climb out of some pool and moxey and his fucking merry men have got their boots on our heads and pushing us back in .Everytime we get what we need to get out .. These bastards make sure it’s gotten rid of .
Adobe can’t get a goal cos we never replaced our winger .. Now we ve got a replacement that’s playing well they’re already talking of selling him and Adobe .
Enough is enough
Keep our good players and get rid of the bastards that keep holding us back
Hang on Steve, I am not saying that I support the idea of selling Afobe – I am just warning those think that if we do sell him that that his transfer money will go to bring in some quality new players. Not a chance! Because of the budget and Moxey’s tight fistedness, any money they do approve for incoming transfers will be spent on League 1 or 2 players.
Omen code for Moxey? What a bloody insult – I hate the bloke and his boss.

I haven’t come round to it, be under no illusion none of the money will go to Jackett excep may be £250,000 for a third rate striker from Hartlepool ( no disrespect intended ) are really happy with that……do you think this will rocket us up league……may be league one next year.
I thought we mostly played pretty well and showed flashes of really good, quick, one-touch passing. Graham looked excellent throughout, both running with the ball and pinpoint crossing and set pieces. The defence looked pretty solid too, but as the second half wore on and we found ourselves unable to get the clinching second goal, I began to get that familiar feeling of foreboding.
How we miss Nouha Dicko. With him and Afobe pulling the trigger and Graham and Henry/Byrne setting them up, this could have been a most enjoyable season. But as so often happens, it’s what might have been. Strange how Dicko’s injury could be the precursor to us losing Benik. Life’s a bitch.
Enjoyed the game though.
Limbo limbo land. KJ is a lame duck at the moment. Until new owners come in and excise the curse of the 2 m’s we are stuck. Realisticly KJ to keep WWFC in the championship in the interim. Feel a bit sorry for KJ in a way because he has not been allowed to develop as he should. On the flip side it may be argued that KJ has been given a reasonable budget but has not really capitalised on it (Rowe, Saville, Coady et al spring to mind).
A lot of you are happy with the sale of Afobe, assuming the money realised will be given to KJ to spend on new players.
Are you fuckin’ serious?
There is no way that red faced scouser is letting any more money loose for anything other than his own personal gain.
It is as obvious as the slime on greasel’s head that Afobe is being kept for the January sales, and all proceeds will be for offshore accounts only.
The usual excuses will be trotted out and no one of any note will be signed.
On a happier note, Thursday’s match against “We all fuckin’ ‘ate Leeds” is being shown at the Richmond Arms pub in Houston.
Any fellow bloggers resident in this area will be warmlywelcomed by Houston Lobo and myself.
Great to see Villa lose again, and the shit throw away a victory in the 96th minute
Ha ha
FO wb
Clive your right about Afobe how can some fans be happy with selling him…………they must be mad….or drunk or both.
Clive, I’m about 850 miles from you. Can you send the Clive Lear Jet to pick me up please. LMAO..
I felt that their goal was coming as it seems did KJ when he said that we needed a second goal as ‘we looked vulnerable’when oh when is that man going to take responsibility for his actions and how we play…
I said that it would take me ages to get over Sako and I just can’t believe that we might have to go through another situation with Afobe who should of started..
He’s such a good player and his current stature
and outlook re Wolves totally epitomises KJs era
he’s almost been mentally run down by the club and now even here some think it’s a forgone exit.
We played yesterday with now again – a typical fragile defence EBL I can’t agree will ever make a good player and was odds on to give them one..
We lack individual performances like Jordan Graham who is a breath of fresh air ..Afobe coming on late must be an instruction as IMO
even KJ couldn’t be that stupid……could he?
Without being bankrolled by a new owner we are left with using Afobes money to re invest but is this acceptable at all?
We are clinging on in our league position by a thread and although this season could be put down to experience this particular fixture at home against a weak Forest side underlines that we are just not good enough to take 3 points that are often begging…
We really need something positive for Xmas..
COYW
Love groundhog day – and a perfect description of the current Wolves scenario.
Was watching in Melbourne with my son and at the 60 minute mark I said – We need the second goal, as we are being too careless with the ball and gifting them opportunities – needed to freshen things up and could have made an argument to sub out any/all of the front four as they had lost the cutting edge (as good as Graham was in the first 60 minutes, he started turning the ball over too). But too little, too late in the subs department and the inevitable result ensued.
Those who think that when Afobe is sold in Jan the resulting Wonga will go to KJ … sorry but you could be classed as deluded. There is not a cat in hells chance that money of any substance will be seen … Nay it will be lost in the myriad of companies such as Bridgemere etc.
The game on Fri highlighted Jackets naivety when with both Graham and Edwards knackered and labouring he didn’t follow Forest s strategy by freshening up with a couple of subs…. Numpty.
It’s all getting too painful now ….. Prolonged years of Championship football beckons while fat Moxey will be expecting some plaudits for his unswerving performance in taking us NO WHERE ……
Brilliant Twixfix………..you’ve made me laugh as well as being spot on !
cheers Paul …. I’m well pissed off by it all …..
I recall last year posting, ” We are a striker away from being a Premiership side”.
The rest is history even though we got said striker.
This year we are a striker away from being a Premiership side!
History will show, we have lost said striker.
Instead I’m left looking forward to:-
Leeds on Thursday,
Wednesday on Sunday,
The Happy Mondays on Friday,
A meal at Tuesdays after watching the Saturdays.
Confused, well join the queue Sky is feckin up my body clock and Kenny is feckin up my Yed.
Good footy on Friday, almost played for two halves but not quite, clock watching again in the second half but not for playing out a 1-0 win but instead waiting to see how close we could come to the 90 minutes before we let them into a game that we pretty much should have won.
Should have won, could have won had KJ put Afobe onto give us a chance of some sorts, could have won if he had put Byrne on to give Henry a rest, could have won had Deslandes been included to replace EBL 5 seconds after he scored.
But that’s just me, I live in cloud cuckoo land, I’m not being paid JCB buckets of money to agree with the shite that comes out of Moxey’s mouth.
Forever Wolves 🙂
Forever frustrated 🙁
12 more sleeps till Christmas, I wonder what Santa has in his Sac for me.
Mmmmm
Is that last sentence an innuendo?
If you remember your Nativity story you’ll know that there was no room at the Innuendo.
I have an idea what’s in his sac, I’m just worried that being a Wolves fan, (I’m going to get shafted again) Ouch! It’s like being back in Prison.
🙂
Mike B…..
.It Might B
But intheendthough you never can tell.
🙂
Well we are a mid-table championship team…
We have a young defense with more youth to come back from injury. Potentially if they all continue to improve then we are well set for 4yrs +
We have a strong combination in midfield with plenty of back up.
Out wide it looks like we have a star in the making. Championship standard on the other side.
No 10. There is dangerous and also Byrne if he is ever allowed to play his natural role and the untested Bright.
Upfront soon to have nowt.
Glass half full but also half empty.
I wonder how long until KJ thinks sod it and gets experience into the youth, to hopefully shape a team for next year. I would prefer to see direction as opposed to trying to push on without the tools (although maybe wait till Jan).
Also with Graham playing so well can’t he bounce em off Grant Holt?! (he’s quite a large target)
Mike B
Nice one.
“Push on without tools” is that also an innuendo?
Talking of Tools, I hear Lee Evans has asked, Nay, pleaded to stay at Bradford and has spoken to KJ who seems to favour the idea.
Looks like the kid has found his level, I’ve knocked him in the past, but I genuinely wish him well.
🙂
With Sako gone and Afobe hovering by the door…..what price Dicko will want to join them ?
Nothing to do with football;I have 2 tickets for Simply Red at Genting Arena,Tuesday 15th Dec with VIP Experience Hospitality(a meal,in other words) and parking pass, cost £190,I’m willing to accept any sensible offer as due to family emergency we cannot attend. If anyone is interested, reply on here and we’ll go from there.I live in Wolves.
One striker away from home is ok, but at home should be two. Just look at the league home form, away form, that says it all
Proactive not naively reactive – that’s the sort of manager that is essential to ensure success in the modern game. Has Kenny ever had an ‘in-depth’ tactics or has he always just gone with the game? Because it’s increasingly beginning to look like “You don’t know what you’re doing”.
I’m not jumping on the ‘Kenny Out’ bandwagon but am becoming totally confused by selections, tactics, on the pitch decision making and the use (or non-use of substitutes). Match of the Day showed Big Sam, who obviously totally understood what was going wrong with his team selection, had the courage and forethought to make a substitution after only 20 minutes in an attempt to change the game; it didn’t work out for him but it did make a difference. And that’s exactly what we need at Wolves, right now, especially at Home – somebody who can come off the bench and make a difference; if only we had a 10 million plus striker sat doing nothing!
Well we all know how lucky Wolves are to have someone like Afobe and how disappointing it will be to see his premature departure in January; so why not try and get the best out of him until then even if it means totally changing the formation to suit him; Kenny could rightly argue that such changes may not work – well the present system certainly isn’t working so something has to change.
To misquote one of my favourite Frank Sinatra songs…
It’s quarter to three and there’s no one awake except little me…
I’ll make my full contribution later on but while I’m laying here not sleeping I have a question to ask…
Why doesn’t the ‘duck heed’ who interviews KJ after the match just come out and ask him:-
Why the Sam hill aren’t you playing Afobe?
If you aren’t playing him because he’s earmarked for transfer why is he even on the bench?
We are adults. If he’s being sold, be honest – we can take it.
It smacks of the smoke and mirrors and half truths that have been coming out of the Molineux mouthpieces since Morgan and Moxey got involved.
And it ends up with us poor suckers feeling betrayed and bloody well pissed off.
Kenny has done a great job getting the fans back onside after the debacle of the last two seasons.
Now there’s a real risk of losing them again.
Just tell us the f@@@ing truth!
I of course mean ‘the debacle of the two seasons before KJ joined us’.
As far as I remember, the last two seasons haven’t been too bad really.
But it WAS early and I WAS tired.
Mr Doogle,
I resent your reference to duck heads.
My vast collection of rubber ducks has absolute loyalty to me and Wolverhampton Wanderers football team, and are in no way associated with any greasy goings on, and I nearly had a revolt when they read your comment.
An apology is required, to calm them down, they are driving me quackers.
Forgive me, I had forgotten your gaggle of feathered friends.
Please give them my apologies and an extra ration of slimy, wriggly worms to compensate for the distress I’ve caused.
Talking about slimy, wriggly worms, there’s a great big one over this side of the water but it would cost too much to transport him to Houston.
My take on the present farcical situation at the Mol is simple
The owner, having tired of his new toy and thrown the proverbial rattle out of the pram – conveniently forgetting assurances made to Sir Jack when being gifted the club — is now concerned only with getting as much dosh out of it all as he can.
Thus his Muppet, the famed Jezzy the Pie Man, has issued instructions to Yes Man Mr. Jackett, that our star striker has to sit on the bench until January, to ensure that he is not injured in the meantime, and thereby threaten a major loss of millions to the great benefactor. [ I would not be at all surprised if sale terms with another club have not already been finalized behind the scenes. ]
Then with Afobe gone, ALL proceeds will remain in the pockets of the owner.
Meanwhile our great recruiter Mr. T. has been instructed to tour the local footie hot beds such as Bilston and Stourport to come up with a replacement who is prepared to play mainly for the glory. This will enable the Pieman to exercise his usual boast of pending hectic activity in the transfer market. If we re really lucky Mr. T may even come up with another ” Midfielder for Tomorrow ” from the Conference, who 3 weeks later we can loan out to Accrington Stanley to gain a bit of experience.
Meanwhile, throughout all of this process Mr Jackett, devoid of any tactical nouse, will continue with his weekly bleating that we are getting better but just cannot seem to be able to score.
Should we laugh or should we cry ?
Mike I could not have put it better my self it nice to know there are other fans out there that can see throught the fog ( I mean bull shit ) that seeps out of Molinuex and Jackett.
So all we want for Christmas is;
1) Morgan to do the decent thing and sell the club on at Christmas for a fair price (Steve – you have made enough out of us ! lets have a Sir Jack moment), so we can keep Afobe and be able to add more quality.
2) Moxey to be sacked, you cannot let the scrooge accountant be part of any new set up.
3) Scrap the rigid wage structure that has held this club back for years (this will take real balls but proper teams in the Prem do pay some players more and as adults they perform together).
So Who ? is going to be our Father Christmas ?
Most Wolves supporters seem to think that getting in more expensive players will make us play better. I wonder what Chelsea fans have to say about that! Really, we know that on their day these players can form a formidable team. What is lacking is consistency. How many times have we read that the team did not fire up for the first 25 mins, or they started well and then just vanished.
I think we need a manager/coach that can get the boys fired up and playing to their best for 90 mins. If they slacken, then replace them with a sub. Would also help to use the players in their accustomed positions. Methinks KJ is not up that standard.
I Think the team played ok against Forest given that we only played 1 up at home and they all put in a “shift” but really is this the best “Wolves” can hope for ?. Better players are most certainly needed if we are to get to the Prem and that does not involve selling your best player’s all the while (to re invest in more average fodder).
Chelsea won the Pl last year….
Here’s another name to light up the Darkness we’re in.
NICU CARNAC.
Guess where he’s plying his trade and scoring for fun.?
Anwers on a postcard to:-

Were you at the Under 18s win against Manchester Utd Stu?
If so, were you able to pass all the bloggers’ Seasonal Greetings on to our esteemed CEO?
And ask him how his consortium was coming together regarding the purchase of our club?
He’s (Greasel) is still trying to work out the best way of dressing up A BAD JOB ……
No Doog I think it was on a match day so couldn’t get.
But,
I know a blogger who will be sitting next to him in the directors box at the FA cup game against West Ham. I shall pass your message to them so he / or she can ask.
It’s not me, but it’s definitely someone with teeth, so Poxey won’t get let off easily.
🙂
Stu – you going West Ham? Let me know as might be going on me own and be nice to meet up. Might even buy you a vodka! Only might mind.
Yes I’m going to the Hammers, I’m on my own too as my usual partner in crime is sitting with Moxey.
Do you need a ticket, Jen de Wolf won’t be going to this one. It would mean uou have to sit next to me, Dohhhh
Let me know.
Hi Stu – sounds good to me. I will email you to firm up details and payment etc.
Price & McDonald were the best players on the pitch & Graham is to the manor born.
It seems perverse to put Afobe on the bench, he’s our best player & best hope of scoring.
It’s either Machiavellian as people have suggested or KJ is trying to hoodwink future buyers?
Or is he saving him for a repeat of last seasons surge? Either way we would love to hear from the horses mouth why he isn’t on the pitch. It smacks of cutting off your nose to spite your face.
In a tight game Wolves were the better side & would’ve won it had we not forgot how to defend deep corners, a player on the line would’ve had a chance to stop the goal.
I still like KJ he’s clearly having to deal with a lot of shit given the constraints on him dictated by the farrago of the current owners bailing out.
I blame Morgan & the board for our lack of progress. With backing & a clear goal & vision we’d be up there with the Brighton’s & Derby’s.
I disagree Ben on your view of selling Afobe, to do what by more 2 nd rate League 1 players we should be looking for a decent partner for Afobe not looking to off load him.
He is the most natural goals scorerer since Bully, and why did Bully score some many………because he had a decent partner in fact in my eyes Mutch was just as much a saviour of Wolves as was Bully and Downing and so on.
Afobe as I have already blogged has been on his own up front most of the season and his so called ” lack of form ” is down to that, poor supply and support and most of all pure frustration.
I’ve looked at some of his goals from last season and I rember being at Wigan away he never came past the half way line he had Dicko he had support are telly me that he is all of a sudden an average player !
I will never understand the thinking behind selling your best player to bu 3 or 4 average to crap players it doesn’t work the proof is right in front of you ie Sako and 4 midfielders and 2 wingers that have replaced hin….NOT !
I take your point Willie and of course would love to see Afobe stay at the club and rediscover his best form but, unfortunately, can’t see either happening. Whether KJ is allowed to reinvest the transfer fee is beyond any of us, there has been next to no communication from the board with regards to our plans for January. However, I would hope that at least some of it will be reinvested in the team and, if that is the case, have faith that Jackett will pull a few rabbits out of his proverbial hat.
Because of his perpetual tinkering this season, I truly believe that people have forgotten what a great job KJ has done since he joined. We were down on our arse in League One and he not only got us promoted convincingly but got us agonisingly close to a play-off spot with a very, very young team – the majority of which was assembled on a shoestring. For me, one or two shrewd signings could make a huge difference to our season. Get Williamson back on a permanent basis (or someone of his ilk) and the defence will look a lot more assured and, as suggested in my review, buy a young and hungry striker from League 1 (or alternatively, a Premier League striker looking for a game) and the nucleus for a late play-off push is there.
None of this is to say that I think we’ll make the top six – quite the opposite. As expressed in my write up on the MK Dons game, I don’t think this team is beyond a relegation battle. It really is make or break in January and, unfortunately, I think that cashing in on Afobe is the only tangible route to improvement. Besides, if he doesn’t go next month then he will in the summer so why risk keeping him and enduring his current form until the end of the season?
Just a thought, totally respect (and share) your thinking.
Ben, people keep mentioning Afobe’s form what people don’t seen to realise is he had no partner been up front on his own most the time.
1. When he has had a partner it’s never the same one two games running so how is he going to strike up an understanding.
2. Jackett has chopped and change formations neary every game,
3. He has changed tactics neary every game.
4. And he has changed players nearly every game.
How is Afobe supposed to get a rhythm going that all stickers need to score goals.
As for Jackett his recruitment if it is his has the last close season been baffling 4 midfielders 3 wingers and a goal keeper.
I’m sorry I have to disagree with you on Jackett as a blogged a few weeks ago hoping he would see sense he has been the architect of most if not all of our problems this season as I’ve said above .
If the signing haven’t been his then he should stand up to so called Director of Football and say so but that Jackett all over he won’t tell us either way.
I bet my Morgage he will go with 1 up front against Leeds, there will be 3 or 4 changes and the tatics well who knows we should have a better points total and that down to Jackett tinkering and short coming which are now coming to the for.
As for what he’s done in the past, it’s just that the past I think more than any other club we live on the past, we should never for get our history no never, but in order to move on no one or nothing is bigger than the club that’s why Liverpool were so successful in the 70s, 80s, and 90s once you have come to the end of your time, it thanks very much your always welcome back there’s the door.
Ben his current form is down to Jackett. And the strewed signing your talking about will cost more than what if any money Morgans going to give Jackett.
All so if Morgans willing to sell Afobe then what about McDonald, Hause and anyone else that will command a decent fee, his not going to reinvest a penny Ben, not a penny there will be no strewed signings he’s grabbing what he can while there’s something to grab !
Just my tuppence worth….
Saw the match on the tele.
What a sad sight is the Mol, a la Morgan.
The terrible colour combinations in the empty stands filled only by ghosts…
Mc Donald, Grahame and Price played well.
Afobe too in his cameo….
The rest ‘flattered to deceive.’
This is in honour of Benny !
Stark reality that in my view every Wolves fan needs to come to grips with is that Morgan is stripping the club of all its assets before he sells (or not, he really doesn’t care).
So yes, there will be an Afobe sale in January, but no, there will be no “reinvestment” in the club to buy other players.
Yes, KJ is out of his depth and lost the plot, but no, there is no point sacking him because nobody better will be hired or will even touch the job.
Steve Morgan has practically destroyed this club. From a team on the verge of making it in the premiership he has managed to destroy all the progress made previously to return us to practically Colin Lee days – a bottom half of the Championship side. Only this time with no prospects of much better. There is no Sir Jack to count on to make things better.
The only hope is to get bought by someone who intends serious spending and rebuilding. Whoever buys this club will need to pretty much start over and regut the squad and start from scratch if the EPL is going to be anywhere on target. After the January sales we will have nobody of Premiership quality left in the squad.
Sorry guys, but this is how I see it. We can keep debating how we could have scored at least another and won all we like, but it’s pointless without the big picture sorted out.
Shame on Morgan and Moxey for their failure, and shame on the board for not acting. This must be the only profession I am aware of where execs can fail and not get fired. True to his word, though, Moxey has definitely delivered on his promise not to “do an Albion”. No doubt, he would have checked their league position and guided us clearly away from such giddy heights.
Good report, tho’ I’d disagree that we ‘created plenty of chances’. For me Friday night could be summed up in 3 words – ‘no cutting edge’. KJ rightly criticised for poor use (yet again) of substitutes. Don’t understand people screaming for Afobe to start given that he was contributing practically nothing in his last few starts, and his body-language was very negative. The performance was fine but we need goals from somewhere. So what to do ? We have to keep the Price-Kmac combo in midfield if only to protect a still inexperienced defence and we need to keep playing with width, preferably on both sides of the pitch. Switch to 4-4-2 ? Personally, I don’t like 4-4-2 – its been around so long teams know how to set up against it – but I don’t see many other options. 4-3-1-2 would mean no width on at least one side (if we keep Price-Kmac togeher). But it would allow us to play Holt-Le Fondre up top with Afobe in behind, so potentially more goalscorers on the pitch. But where would the service come from ? Take a chance on the defence and play 4-1-4-1 ? Answers to these problems are what managers are psid for…over to you KJ.
Regarding Afobe’s probable transfer, surely if he is sold and Morgan pockets the filthy lucre then the asking price for the club should be reduced by same amount, as he is currently a club asset …? Thats assuming the players are listed as assets in the accounts. Anybody know ?
The way we are playing I would question whether any of them are an asset to the club!
I do believe in one thing the fans, numbers may fall, I remember being on the South Bank freezing my nuts off against the mighty Chorely with about 3,500 other poor souls and I also remember being at MK Dons with 8,999 other souls singing my head off in the sunshine and we will bask in the sunshine again the gold tops will glisten in the sun again when I don’t know but they will and Morgan and Moxey will be a distant memory along with the Bhatti brothers consigned to history there part in bringing misery to this great club well and truly noted.
Fuckin hell. What’s happened to Dougie Freedman’s eye brows? Looks like he’s spent the weekend snorting cocaine. Not that I would know anythin about that. A few cans of Red stripe and an ‘interesting’ cigarette in the old JB’S up Dudley listening to the punk disco was as near as it got for me!
Cheesy.
What a feckin picture youv’e painted in my head with the Dougie Freedman quote.
Absolute genius, just so, so funny.
It must be Christmas, that was a cracker.
🙂 🙂 🙂
Don’t forget Sir Jack presided over 15 years out of 16 in the championship. There was no magical period. And as I have said on this blog before he didn’t save the Wolves. It was Wolverhampton council and the builders The Gallaghers who saved Wolves in 1986. Sir Jack took over in 1990 when GrahamTurner had already established us in the 2nd tier. Learn your history folks.
H
Your right Cheesie, the Gallaghers and the then Labour council hardly get a mention Counciler Bird was a big part in getting the council envolved he passed away a good few years ago……. Bless him in fact the hole of the council, Labour, Conservtive and Libs worked together pity they can not do it at national level.
The only thing we can hope for now, is we get a new owner or owner’s who’s got the love and the money to make a fist of this football club ASAP.
Also what they must do is get rid of Poxey because all he’s done at this great football club is to keep us from progressing, for what reason there are many. ie lining his own pockets…
Leeds pose a threat unless we unleash our top striker Afobe come Thursday, regardless if he’s to be sold or not he play from the start.
If he doesn’t start then we know he’s on his way…hope not.UTW
We are the lifeblood of the club, players come and go but we the fans stand in the cold, wet and sup the shite they serve in the bar under the stands that they try to call tea.
Rightly said, “we will be here long after the M&M’s have been ousted out and we will know the truth about legacy they leave”.
I remember the last words my Granddad said to me as he slipped away after 60 years supporting Wolves, “yeth ynbfrrv nh ojn okjngg hbbnmmmk juugg ljhg”
It took me a full ten minutes to put it all together and understand what he meant.
(Your’e kneeling on my oxygen tubing you prick)
Life goes on.
Brilliant Stu, my wife could hear me laughing from the kitchen and my little girl was saying ” what you laughing at daddy………brilliant.
They say if you can laugh in the face of aversity you will succeed, I hope they didn’t mean bird seed !
Time to move on. Get rid of Moxey because he is seen as the catalyst for all of our problems. New broom to consign the m’s to the vacuum. New owners to remove the non entities on the board. Inject a new zest to the fabulous fans who love Wolves as we all do on here. Occasionally we fall out but we all want the same thing. Wolves back where we belong. Making Billy proud as he looks down from the clouds.
I know first team progress may be ‘disappointing’ (master of the understatement, I am) but there is one thing I’d commend Mr Morgan for, following his tenure.
We have such a wealth of talent coming through the Academy now. If only 10% fulfil the promise they show now, it will stand us in good stead over the next decade or so. Personally, I can’t wait to see the likes of Ennis, Ronan,Enobakhare et al joining Iorfa, Graham and Hause in the first team squad. It’s a very pleasing way to run a football club, despite other failings.
Problem is that those players will end up playing top-level football with another club whilst we continue to languish in the Championship, forever being promised ‘jam tomorrow…’
That’s a symptom of English football in the modern era, not just Wolves. The way I see it is, or hope it will be, is that if we can maintain financial good sense, and get ourselves a half-decent owner, we won’t need to sell.
Sure, there will always be players who insist on a move, but I don’t want them here anyway.
I have just opened the 15th December door of my ‘Bad taste joke’ Advent Calendar and StuWolf’s story about his granddad was revealed.
Yesterday it was the one about Anne Frank:-
The last entry in her diary on June 29th:-
“After months of hiding, some welcome light relief. Today it is my birthday. Mama and Papa have bought me a drum kit”.
Being an inquisitive sort of bloke I’m going to have a crafty peek at the last one to see what Christmas has in store……
Oh! That’s interesting! It comes in the form of a headline in the E & S.
‘New owner Moxey reveals his vision for Wolves’.
And instead of a chocolate behind the door there’s a stale, soggy meat pie.
A few weeks ago I said we should be looking to get 13 points from MK, Rotherham, Forest, Leeds and Wednesday – though added that the way we are playing 5 points might be more realistic. Three down and we already have 5 points so anything from Dirty Leeds and Wednesday will be a bonus! Glass half full eh?
My team to play Dirty Leeds:
Ikeme
Iorfa, Batth, EBL, Golbourne
Price, Coady
Byrne, Enobakhare, Graham
Afobe
Subs: Flatt, Doherty, Ronan, Edwards, Henry, Holt, Le Fondre
Team based on pace, excitement, flair etc hence Edwards, Le Fondre and Henry on the bench.
This historic bit of colour film was shot before I was born.
Yes, Clive, they did have colour film before I was born.
Any bloggers remember it?

Watched it Doog spooky I’d give anything to walk round the old Molinuex again walk up through the top of the south bank then walk round to the old Molinuex street stand.
I’m a bit of an Art Deco buff so the old Molinuex was amazing as it was the 20s and 30s when it was really developed and then nothing till the Steve bull stand went up in 1979.
I carnt believe nothing was saved of the Waterloo Rd stand amazing working all round in the once when I was a steward for a couple of seasons the detail was amazing if it was a house it would of been listed.
Cheers.
Don’t talk to me about Art Deco mate.
I love that style. If I had the dosh my house would be full of it.
Football grounds and cinemas were great places to see it.
I remember the first time I went to the old Highbury Stadium, being knocked out by the entrance to the East Stand.
(They had football hooligans in those days as well you know LOL).
Forgot to duck, I know been there myself….ha. Ha.
Perhaps you, me and the DOOGooder should start up a W BAD club? Wolves Bloggers Art Deco club. Me and Mrs Bedford Wolf are huge Art Deco fans too. Anyone else?
Go to Miami Beach, lots there
I like Art Deco not Dale Winton.
Next home match I will invite you all to Cannock on the A5, crazy American Diner, they don’t do Chablis but the art deco furniture it’s like walking back into the Fonz soda cream parlour. Did one at the end of Route 66 in Santa Monica it made the trip it was amazing.
Fascinating colour footage. Pitch looked a bit muddy for May. Was Moxey here then?
Is McDonald injured as he’s not in the team above? Or are fans
second guessing KJ’s selection mystery manoeuvres?
McDonald is Magic, our midfield with Price & Mac is a strong area. On Friday night I thought the only players who didn’t do it on the night were Edwards, Alf & Henry. They huffed & puffed & tried but lacked that je ne sais quoi that gets you the 3 points.
I’d just like to see Afobe for ALF otherwise no changes. Bournemouth chasing Jordan Graham! Morgan could have a very prosperous new year.
5th Yellow card collected by McDonald on Friday night, automatic 1 match ban.
Seems we now have a decent replacement for Sako. Graham looks good though I thought he looked tired around the 65th minute.
A big shout out to MacDonald – he was outstanding. Price also put in a very good performance.
So now we have a winger who can cross a ball I am hoping KJ goes 4-4-2 and plays Holt and Afobe up front. Please Kenny !
Yo, Doogle.
That bloke with the flat cap, buck teeth and Wolves scarf carrying the cup around looks suspiciously like a certain Melksham resident to me.
Could be wrong, but that would be unusual!!
Doog.
My God, the crowd was amazing, if only things were different and our management cared. We have fantasric support and deserve to have full terraces.
Sorry it’s took me so long to answer but we’ve just got back from the Vet’s.
Our dog was having trouble standing lately, so we took him to be examined.
After a tense nervous half hour the Vet came out with our dog in his arms, he had a real worrying look on his face.
He said,” I’m afraid I will have to put your dog down”
I said, “Jesus Christ is it that serious”?
He said, ” No he’s too feckin heavy, your’e overfeeding him”
🙂
As my missus sez to me, you need new material.
Tommy Cooper died a long time ago, and that joke was old then!!
Thank You Very Much.
After tonight’s second division games, we are nine points off a top six place, but only seven above the relegation zone.
Food for thought, greasel, you fat twat.
There only one thing Poxey thinks of……….how’s the Abba song go…….Money…..Money…..Money…!
Moxey says Ron Flowers deserves the honour of being made a Wolves Vice President .
More like the great Ron Flowers is doing Moxey and Morgan a favour, if they really understood and respected the Wolves we wouldn’t be in the state we’re in.
That’s unfair. He also thinks of something else. Cue the musical Oliver and ……’Food Glorious Food’.
Well if we’re all getting into musical mode, here’s my Half a sixpence worth…..
Imagine there’s no Morgan
It’s easy if you try
No teams above us
Below us only shite
Imagine all us Wolves fans living for today
Imagine there’s no Moxey
That isn’t hard to do
A team willing to die for us
No relegation too
Imagine all us Wolves fans living life in peace
You may say I’m a dreamer,
but I’m not the only one
I hope the Reuben’s join us
And the Team will be as one
Imagine no crap loanees
I wonder if you can
No need for Holt’s or Ojo’s
Wolves players to a man
Imagine all us Wolves fans sharing all the world
You may say I’m a dreamer,
but I’m not the only one
Please let the Rueben’s join us
And the Team will play as one
Ah, good old Imogen. Used to like her. A bit like that lady Kenneth Williams once spoke of at one of his book signings. This little old lady brought his book up to the desk where he was sitting signing copies and held it out towards him. “Oh yes dear, what would you like?” said Ken. “Emma Chissett” says the old girl. So Kenneth duly obliges and signs the book “To Emma Chissett, love Kenneth Williams” and hands it back to her. She looks at it and then looks at Kenneth and says in a loud and indignant voice “No! ‘Ow much is is?”.
While we are talking John Lennon songs, here’s one that could have been written about a certain person – I’ll leave you to decide who – and no words have been changed to protect the innocent.
I’m sick and tired of hearing
Things
From uptight-short sighted-
Narrow minded hypocritics
All I want is the truth
Just give me some truth
I’ve had enough of reading
Things
By nuerotic-pyschotic-
Pig headed politicians
All I want is the truth
Just give me some truth
No short haired-yellow bellied
Son of tricky dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard
Soft soap me
With just a pocketful of hope
Money for dope
Money for rope
I’m sick to death of seeing
Things
From tight lipped-
Condescending -mommies little
Chauvinists
All I want is the truth
Just give me some truth
I’ve had enough of watching
Scenes
Of schizophrenic – ego – centric
– paranoic – prima – donnas
All I want is the truth
Just give me some truth
