It’s fitting that a goalkeeper, as much as anyone else, helped Wolves secure this precious opening day win.
While Carl Ikeme was in our thoughts, John Ruddy’s faultless performance between the sticks ensured the big occasion went poignantly to plan.
The former Norwich man’s starfish dive was enough to distract Martin Braithwaite from equalising just before the break and he was quick off his line in the second to sniff out the threat of Britt Assombalonga.
Much of the attention surrounding the construction of this Wolves team is focused further up the pitch, but he could yet prove the most valuable addition.
I was impressed with the defence in front of him too which looked organised, compact and tough to breakdown.
Yes, Boro got through a few times in the second half, but the three center halves, the wing backs and two holding midfielders generally snuffed most things out.
Boly is a huge acquisition in more ways than one, towering over everyone and continually dominating in the air. You couldn’t get a more perfectly suited Championship center half.
Miranda found life harder up against the busy Assombalonga, but I liked his tenacious, no-quarter-given approach. He never let up once.
Coady, Neves and Saiss forming that defensive triangle in the center of the pitch were all disciplined and effective.
Neves played several sumptuous passes, was tough in the tackle and even got forward to occupy decent shooting positions.
There’s more to come from our record signing though. Some teams will come and sit deeper and I expect him to excel in those contests.
Saiss is a player I’ve never been convinced about, but there’s no doubting he’ll thrive in this system and the Moroccan was as good as anyone today.
Bonatini looked very useful for an hour and I was disappointed to see him go off so early.
He was prepared to put his body in the way, scrap for the ball and then demonstrate the kind of touch you’d expect from a Brazilian to bring others into the game.
The goal looked simple but he still had to show composure to slot it away and lord knows we’ve seen Wolves players miss those over the years.
Comparatively Dicko was a yard off the pace in his thirty minute run out so it’s good we’ve managed to reinforce. One more to come you would expect before August is done.
Enobakhare did what Enobakhare does, teasing you with all those silky twists and turns but ultimately failing to deliver.
He was unlucky with that second half dribble and toe bunt that the keeper got down to save, but could have played smarter passes from good positions on several occasions. I like him but I want to see that potential fully realised.
Jota was just as nimble, gliding past people and playing neat give and go football all afternoon. Again, he should come to the fore against lesser opposition.
The wing-backs were both rock solid defensively but didn’t bomb on as often as I’d hoped to give us that much needed width in the final third.
I like both Doherty and Douglas though and think they will be tough to dislodge on the evidence of pre-season and this morale boosting win.
There are 45 tough challenges to navigate and things can go sour all too quickly in this division.
But at the very least, this was a very good start.

Yes first in so here are my thoughts
Were gonna win the league
Were gonna win the league
Were gonna win the league
Good to read your report so quickly filed Tom. Onward and upward now, with Cav and Costa to come back, hopefully Zyro too. The defence seems really sound, it’s goals we need now. I do hope for his sake that Dicko can find his form again, but Bonatini seems to be a good prospect.
Never thought we’d be fielding a Brazilian striker, and with the strong Portugese element, it’s a whole new ball game !
As many had previously said & me included I couldn’t wait for 3.00pm today.
Never before can I recall the potential that we have this season.
A great win was the outcome, but more importantly we played a very good team, with a decent forward line up that were snuffed out for most of the time.
The old guard & the new guard all need a pat on the back.
A great start with a continued hope & expectation and the sun shined too.
Man of the match – all of them.
Chuffed fekin chuffed………
I hope Wolves ends up buying Sam Gallagher if they choose to recruit a British striker – a bit sceptical to Rhodes. I think we could find a better striker abroad, get more value for the money, especially for 8 mill.
Hassan or Aboubakar would suit us well.
Great start , in what will be a tough campaign, and 3 points on the board from a difficult opener against Middlesbrough.
I was well impressed with the 3 central defenders and the towering strengths of Miranda and Bolly we’re equalled by a polished performance from Captain Coady…..no nonsense defending and building from the back going forward.
All in all a good start and a good examination, well handled, from The Boro.
Bright continues to frustrate with sometimes poor choices on the final ball …but clearly this lad is talented.
Let’s not forget Bonatini on a cool and clinical finish and some more game time for him, Neves and Jota can only benefit the Pack.
Exciting to think also that Costa, Cav and Marshall are still to come in ..it’s looking good .
Great to meet up with the usual mobsters and well done to Wolfstroker for coming up from Plymouthish, London Wolves Loyal and Bedford wolf.
Another big test next week at Derby… roll on
And Brompto! Lol
Liked what I saw today, not panicking in possession and passing the ball well. First game, lots to do yet, but I am excited and what lies ahead.
Good to see you Mike, and Lilian, Stu and Jen, Steve, Matt, Dave, Shaun, Whitley Snr and shame I miised Dougie and Barbara.
See you at Hull hopefully.
And not forgetting Ian and Sue, who I also did not manage to see.
Sorry but forgot to mention Brompton Wolf, down from North Yorks and the Newark Wolves…..
Two questions.
1) IS the pitch wider or narrower than last year?
2) why do they sometimes hoof the ball out from the goalie and other times pass it out on the ground? I thought Nun wanted to bring it out on the ground. Was it because Boro were better at slowing down the on the ground approach so they just Micked it (see what I did there)?
Great write up Thomas, these should be the norm if this is the standard of footy we have to come.
Totally agree reference Bright, he does my feckin head in, he has it in there but that final unleashing of a hammer foot is just alluding him. Pass the feckin ball FFS Bright.
A Ruddy good display saw us collect all 3 points when a draw might have been fairer but who cares at this stage when we had all of seven debutants for a league match. Have we ever had so many first starters since our first ever league game against Villa in 1888? Anoraks out there might like to research!
I have it on good authority that Bright isn’t exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer which may explain his painfully slow, often incorrect decision making which could possibly stifle his undoubted talent. There again such a disability didn’t stop a certain granny fancier from the north west.
Nice to see the pitch has been widened by around 5 yards (you had me worried Stu and thankfully you had incorrect information on this occasion).
Let’s see how we get on away now. Forget Yeovil in midweek as they let in 8 today so will probably go away with a clean sheet!
Don’t think you have to go back that far Sea Pigeon. Try 1985 Brentford. I’m sure there are a few of us on here still remember that game. Think we had almost a full team of debutants
im forever whinging but not today, apart from an incredibly tense last 15 mins or so I thoroughly enjoyed this match and whilst yes boro had chances, so did we and a 3-2 victory would have still been fair to us. oh, and we did it with Costa still to return !
The stadium rocked, the fans were perfect and the tribute in south bank one to savour
Santo was calm and collected in his pre mtach interview and on the touchline too … a better script you would have struggled to write.
we look the business.
its a long long season, but for now im gonna just sit back and soak up this wonderful feeling.
HI HO WOLVERHAMPTON !
Bright explains why we need that striker and Dicko is a gonner anyway for me he’s out of contention..
We look stronger at the back inc Ruddy it’s
still a bit nerve racking with Boro s missed chances..
Roll on Costa but I fear thst Jordan Graham will be left out of the new regime which would be a shame ..
We should of had a penalty !!
We should have had a penalty yes, but we did not concede and as we scored we won lol. Both of us must be happy today. I know I am. Loved how we played and it will only get better, as as you say, when we get another striker in and when our injured guys return, we are gonna smash it.
Yeovil in the cup next, and seeing as they let 8 in today, I am worried lol
Kudos to Wolvestv
It was just like being there, all atmosphere, fabulous crowd noise, and to top it all, no inane commentary.
So refreshing to see our football team actually playing football.
Everyone can hold their head up high with this performance.
Yes even Bright, who has to learn how to shoot.
Middlesbro were boringly competent, will beat their fair share of lesser teams, but had no flair.
I was in front of my computer, ooing and awing at some of our slick interplay.
Was looking at times for a Barcelona badge on the shirts!!
And you cannot beat a Big Willy at the back!
Extremely excited about what is to come from this lot.
And, Mr Doogle, your boy Edwards was on the pitch for about 20 mins, and nearly touched the ball once!!
A very happy camper in Texas!!
FOwb
Yes, Big Willy was really up for it today.
A win
3 points
Clean sheet
Packed house
And a correct score for me get in!!!!!
Some of those moves today were simply Barcaesque, I have not seen a Wolves team pass with such confidence and another first was not seeing a panicky defence all flustered with the fans in desperate mode hanging on for the last 20 mins. Add to all this the arrogant ‘we,re nailed on champions, Boro’ taking such a tumble on day 1 (welcome back to the Championship by the way) and what a great start. The TV connection worked great and just in time because that is a team packed with flair. One more striker in and we should be sorted. Only 1 game down but what a difference to be a Wolves team with real hope. As many have said, a long old season with hopefully a few Prem scalps along the way in 2 cup runs because any of the Premiership teams players who will have seen that today will not fancy coming to the Mol. Good start by the fans as well even though some of the final thirds play was begging for a quicker release of the ball into a danger area, no moaning and groaning.
There will be much harder games ahead when we line up against teams that will try to kick this team off the pitch, if as a group they are hard enough to play against thuggish teams then the season really does bode well. Very early days but the winning culture has to start somewhere – “Wim a big club ay we”
As usual a good analysis. Interesting what people think but I feel 343 is a difficult system to break down, albeit a system which won’t produce us a plithera of goals. Back 3 never pulled out of shape and being protected by the 4 in front of them. Only downside of system is wing backs have to be fit as butchers dogs
A great, and well deserved result.
Let`s not underestimate the significance of the Bonatini strike. Yes, it came from a big Boro mistake, but he did what all quality strikers do. He kept his cool, and made it count decisively. We haven`t had anyone do this for far too long. When he gets fully fit he could become a potent force.
But another quality striker is surely essential if we are capitalize on the wealth of talent running throughout the side..Bright is a great budding talent, but he is not yet ready. Surely a loan spell is right for him at this stage of his career. Dicko is simply not good enough, and never will be. We should stop making excuses for a guy who is nothing more than a Divsion 1 performer.
One word regarding Saiss. The guy is unrecognizable from the hesitant, inconsistent player of last season. Now, playing in a system he clearly understands and having been given a specific specific role, he has really come into his own. For the first time we are seeing the high quality player he was touted to be when he first arrived. Saiss dovetails superbly with the outstanding Neves , and will in my view become a significant contributor to our success as the season unwinds.
Must disagree with the Dicko comment, we should support all our players and to suggest that he “nothing more than a Division (Division) 1 player” is disappointing, hope he gets 20 goals this season, but also agree that we need another striker UTW
Seconded! Let ‘s hope Dicko can make a full recovery! But 100% fitness is very important both for his speed and his non-stop approach to the game. In my opinion, when firing on all cylinders, Dicko is one of the best strikers in the Championship. Hang in there, Nouha!
Yes. The transfer rumors circulating around a Rhodes move to Wolves are silly. He’s not better than the players we have. Why buy a squad player for 10 mill? And Shef W. bought him for a month ago. One of the most annoying transfer rumors in ages.
WolvesTV is great although I am not sure that the family appreciated me yelling at the computer at 1am in the morning.
Great result and a promising start. I thought the team looked really good in the first half and then defended resolutely in a tougher 2nd half.
A good season coming up me thinks.
Great to read the positivity on here. But it’s about time we had a season to look forward to. Onwards and upwards.
Great result. Finally we have genuine quality to compete.Onwards and upwards
Absolutely fantastic performance today, so proud of all the lads. Few legs going towards the end but the fitness will get better as we progress. Lovely, simply lovley.
Based on the commentary we bossed the first half and with quality stuff. Less so in second half but hey these are games you win somehow if you want to be up top.
Maybe I missed something about Wolves TV but couldn’t get picture on iPad or iPhone .. sent them a nastygram and got reply that you need desktop computer to get game .. now you tell me?
So most of my five quid up the swanee
Whatever …feeling
like a point at Derby gets us off to neat start
And many teams will yield us three
I can’t remember where I learnt it, Marin, but I did know I had to use my laptop. I think it’s hidden in the explanations somewhere!
I had a bit of trouble too. Just before kick-off and again after about 85 mins the picture froze. I went back to the Wolves site and, both times, I had automatically been logged out! I logged back in and rejoined Wolves TV, and the game proceeded with no other major problem.
Not quite as smooth as the Foxes game though. In each half I guess I missed about 30 secs about half-a-dozen times. Reception was perfect for the goal though.
Still, Marin, if you feel the explanation was not clear enough, ask for your money back. Wolves seem anxious to create good relations with the fans.
I won’t bother because I saw most of the game fine.
Thanks NL
I’ll chat to tv folk … meantime commentary and blank screen turned it into radio coverage
My stream worked perfectly fine and I did see on the website that you could only stream internationally on to your desktop. I did that and then connected my laptop to the 55 inch. Picture wasn’t great blown up like that and I would have liked commentary to aquaint myself to the new players but still great to have the opportunity to see the game live…. Great result and so pumped for the rest of the season now….Come on you Wolves
What can I say: Finally a team we can be proud of! Haven’t felt this way for so many years under the “dark ages” of the Morgan and Moxey regime. Kudos to Fosun for their vision and thank you for breathing new life into our club. Truly a case of out of darkness, finally, light!
Miles to go, I know, but hey, this first step feels so good. And it’s gonna get better.
Keep it up Wolves! More of the same please!
Go Wolves
Top marks to the Boro fans who held up a 20 foot banner supporting Carl Ikeme, brilliant gesture, equally nice was Gabby Agbonlahor (sorry Gabby can’t spell your name mate) holding up a shirt with Carl on when he scored.
Football coming together.
The Boro fans sent a shiver down my spine, nice touch guys.
If we can just get Jon Jo Shelvey to eat humble pie, we’re getting there as a species.
MOUTHWATERING, SUBLIME , BALANCED …. Oh my god , did anyone else try the new steak and mushy pea pie ?
Absolutely outstanding
No fucking wonder all these foreign players are flocking to wolves
Fantastic wolves ! Well done !
What a great start to the season, didn’t manage to get there but followed it on the net.
The only way now is upwards from what I can see, yes we need another C/F but have absolute confidence in Fosun to produce. Enjoyed the pub last night taking the piss out of the Villa supporters in there.
As an aside did anyone else note the snide comments on Sky re the shock result at the MOl. Wolves had the cheek to beat Boro!! Up yours Pruton & Co.
We are on our way.
Thank goodness SkyTV messed up. No wonder they are shocked at our win. Their first two televised games were bore draws. Imagine overlooking the clash of the two heavyweight title contenders at
Molineux. The non-televised kickoff at 3pm before a fired up full house was just what we wanted to build on the confidence of the Leicester result. That was for Carl…
I forecast 2-1 to us. A clean-sheet win is even better. I fancy our chances of beating Derby. When was the last time I could say that with confidence about Derby? I’m trying to remember. Still trying.
Listened to the match via TalkSport. Sounded like a decent game though I was a bit nervous in the last 10 mins!
Leo took the goal very well, Have seen so many players mess up a chance like that, well done Leo!
The highlights on Chan 5 and Sky seemed to show more of boro’s moves than ours which gave a different version to what I listened to.
Nuno obviously see’s something in Bright. He is young and hungry and if only he can get the final touch sorted he will be so good. I trust Nuno to get him sorted.
Well done Wolves!
Lucky socks, lucky pants, new shirt (replica 1960 FA Cup final), new trainers (don’t EVER go in JD Sports to buy trainers unless you want to lose an hour of your life you’ll never get back and send your blood pressure rocketing) I set off at 1030 for the 2 hour drive that somehow took 2 hours 45 minutes – do you know there is a section of motorway with ‘roadworks’ (never seen anyone working) and a 50mph limit that lasts over 20 miles that’s been like that for almost 3 years!
I listened to Ace, A-Ha, Adam & The Ants, Albert Hammond, The Applejacks, The Archies, Arctic Monkeys and Aswad on my playlist on my phone (must find out how to change it from alphabetical listing or I’ll never get to hear La Grange by ZZ Top unless I do a 20+ hour car journey) and parked up around 115pm.
After a quick burger I collected my free scarf and hit the North Bank bar to be greeted by Barry & Shaun (Witley & Son), Steve (Brompton) and Matt (London Wolves Loyal) – if anyone is thinking of going to Venice don’t ask London! – and not long after were joined by Steve (Wolfstroker), Stu & Jen (StuWolf & Mrs) and Mike & Lillian (Twixfix & Mrs).
In my seat bathed in glorious sunshine and regretting leaving my sunglasses in the car by 2.45pm.
Met up with Ian & Sue (Newark Wolves) at half time. So I’d met 11 bloggers on the day, brilliant and so much better than my years of being Billy No Mates when I used to go on my own.
The match was pretty much exactly as described by Thomas’s excellent report. I was particularly impressed by Ruddy, Boly (what a beast!), Douglas, Neves and Bonatini. To beat the ore-season favourites so relatively comfortably (despite the Channel 5 highlights that made it look like we’d snatched a win despite being overrun) and to do so without the likes of Costa and Cavaleiro was mightily impressive.
The journey home was a breeze and only took 1 hour 50 so was home by 6.55om and tucking into my Indian takeaway by 7pm.
On the way home I listened to Bachman Turner Overdrive, Bad Company, Be Bop Deluxe, Beatles, The Bellamy Brothers, Bill Withers, Billy Bragg – well you get the idea.
Will be going to Cardiff at home on 19th and, hopefully, Brentford away on 26th when I hope to meet up with London Wolves Loyal to hear more about Venice.
OODCL
Forgot the picture
Portugal shirt. Good idea.
Excellent comprehensive report Thomas, agree with every word.
Perhaps we conceded Boro too much space in the latter stages of the game, but this looks like a confident, well drilled, organised side.
Early days of course but it’s very promising. Tough to pick a man of the match, maybe Ruddy who showed massive confidence & command of his area.
29,000+ suggests that the fans are sensing somethings happening at the Golden Palace. Looking back on last season & the often haphazard style of play suggests we have come a long way.
Here’s to another 87 points or so & glory & success. I can only hope.
A 30mile traffic jam on the M5 meant a big diversion, closed roads and a herd of cows, but it was all worth it to see this spectacle.
The pre-match atmosphere crackled with expectation inside Molineux and our hopes were fully realised as our new look team replicated their emphatic win over Leicester the previous week. It wasn’t easy though as Boro pushed us hard in the last 20mins and only a combination of poor finishing and excellent goalkeeping kept our noses in front. But that’s all part of the game.
The first half, however, belonged to us and Bonatini’s debut goal was no more than we deserved.
With our injured/suspended players returning, we can only improve further and it will be an interesting conundrum for opposition managers to decide how they can field enough defenders to keep our scary front line at bay.
Have to agree with London regarding the quality of the pies. I sampled the Balti variety and it was much improved over examples from previous seasons. It must be because the pieman has departed. He was saving all the best for himself.
Great to see fellow bloggers for a pre-match pint in the North Bank and also Exiled and Barbara post-match in the same venue. It all makes for a smashing day out.

O and U
Every piece Iv’e read since the win suggests a little heavy legs in the second half, what we must also remember is, that this IS the first time they’ve played a full 90 under Nuno. Every game in the pre-season saw a complete new team on in the second half, even the Leicester match, they only completed 60 minutes at best. So great result all things comsidering.
Nuno and Mr ruddy take a bow.
And now EVERYONE else take a bow.
Well done lads.
I predicted a loss and I AM a tosser .
I really thought it was too early for us to play what should have been the toughest home game of the season so with that one out of the way it will all be a doddle from now on.
You know what ? I really do think we have got it.. AT last.
Beat Derby lads and shove it down the throats of those arrogant know bugger all so called experts on sky.
YES YES YES WE HAVE ARRIVED !!!
FOWB
Don’t be so hard on yourself Spikeyboy.
Every Wolves player comfortable on the ball, need I say more.
Yes it was great to see wolves play proper football and pass the ball not aimless hoof, just need to add andre gray and we are sorted IMO. Even got Ruben Neves autograph, still star struck at 65.
I was one of those who was disappointed that Jacket had been let go without being given a chance to work with quality players. I was also one of those who felt that after just six months Lambert had not been given enough time. So how do I explain that in 6 weeks Nuno has imprinted a definite effective style of play and found a playing position for Coady that has already tripled his value? I can’t! Just magnificent world class visionary coaching and communicating ability. He is the best in world standard terms since Cullis. He is also calm and despite the quality of the opposition was prepared to let Bright develop his experience. How many other coaches would have opted for Mason, Sicko, Edwards or some other ‘safe’ pair of experienced hands in that position. Now we need to trust Nuno’s experience. Bright will only play bit parts this season and just to get that into perspective I think Cav and Graham will not be first choice until injuries to others kick in. But who knows Bright could be one for the future.
See your point Jackomac but it should be remembered we’ve spent between 40 and 50 mill on some high quality players since KJ was picking his team, as well as many loanees. I admire NES greatly but he does enjoy that advantage.
Greatly enjoyed the performance and more importantly the result. This despite Wolves managing to sell the same seat to two people one of whom was me. No I’m not going ga ga,even the brusque steward agreed I was in the right place but made me give it up because “season ticket holders have precedence” Thank you the man whose mate could n’ t make it and came to my rescue. All this during the game as the usurper (a very polite man courteous enough to apologise – not his fault) was late arriving.
Despite all this impressed with the effort and discipline shown by the players. Doubts over whether they are hard enough for the championship dispelled, especially by Miranda and Big Willy.
I think we have a real chance of promotion.
I do a wierd little thing when I’m watching, listening to wolves live , at the point of time added on I stand and pace until the final whistle! Don’t ask me why but it started during our last premier league season when I could watch every game live and with points being so precious if we were drawing or even winning! The stress must have got to me , well last night even though I lost my $10 to wolves tv because I couldn’t get a picture, i was so confident of us holding out I made a quick cuppa so convinced was I that the points were safe , and this against one of the best defensive units in the division!
Most reports today are about how boro failed to win , or what went wrong for.,,,boro !! Well that suits me fine to stay under the radar as much as possible, Iv officially been fosuned , and if I could , I would just get them to stick my $10 in the carl ikemy luekemia fund
Loving this season already
Utmw
Marney,
I had something similar happen when watching the Peterborough game which we cancelled because er indoors was poorly.
The problem with mine was, I had not put the caital letter at the beginning of my password.
Just a thought, and worth a try.
Had a similar thing happen while watching the Leicester game. Logged me out of the system near the beginning of the second half and took a long time for me to get back in.
Also, it was mentioned somewhere that you could only watch the game on a PC rather than an Apple or Android phone/tablet.
Not sure why they changed that.
Cheers stu , will give it a go next week
Refreshing football, comfortable on the ball in most areas, like most of the posts stated.Bright has a lot to learn in front of goal, but it will come i’m sure.
Boly was immense at the back, nice to see someone who’s cool and can pass a ball.
Ruddy is a great acquisition especially on a free,he made some fantastic saves to give us the 3 points.
Overall I thought we deserved the points.
Early days yet,but as curtain razer i’m very happy with the team and things will get better when Costa Cav get back.
Also I hope NES keeps faith with Jordan Graham because i thik he’s a great talent and it would be a shame to let him go on loan.UTW.
One of the most enjoyable 90+ minutes I’ve experienced in years!
A proper team of skilled artists playing, in perfect harmony, some classic stuff.
The whole crowd of getting on for 30,000 was rocking all the way through and shouted and stamped for more at the end.
That was the Brian Wilson concert… How was the football?
Quite good by the sounds of things.
I’m getting really excited about the Cardiff game. Nuno seems to be a man who can walk the walk without finding it necessary to talk the talk.
That’s fine by me.
And the PMDG’er is now resigned to not being able to watch the ‘best buns in football’ between the sticks for a while (hurry back though Carl because she needs her fix of eye candy).
She is now talking about being able to experience in the flesh Big Willy thrusting his way up and down the channels.
I don’t quite know what she means but it sounds good to me!
I will predict that Bonatini will get a lot of those goals. I have noticed over the years that players in England don’t seem to be able to cut off a lot of passes that are within range.
Bonatini anticipated that pass and cut it off perfectly.
I bet he gets 4 or 5 of them from that kind of thing throughout the season.
Great quote from Nuno in The Observer today:
“It was a tough game,” Nuno said after the final whistle. “A tough game but a good game. We had a very good first half when we controlled the game and we did not suffer too much in the second. We were facing a good squad but we were organised as a defence at the right moments.
“I said last week we were ready. But we are still not the final project. This is the line we want from the boys, always progress.
“Every day is a chance to learn. It is about us, building an idea, building a team, a strong squad. So that no matter who we face we will always be Wolves.”
Wow! How inspirational is that!
4 years ago today, we lost the legend that was David Wagstaffe. I had so many happy memories at my beloved Molineux due to his skill with a ball and an eye for a pinpoint pass.
RIP David Wagstaffe, (Waggy)
We coined the term “Twisted Blood” when he ran rings round the Albion full back, John Kaye, two seasons running down on their patch.
Sadly missed, greatest winger ever.
A cracking player and a joy to watch – RIP Waggy
Yes, Waggy is much missed.
His misfortune was to be playing at the height of his powers when Alf Ramsey was into his ‘Wingless Wonders’ phase.
Otherwise, he would surely have gained 50+ England caps.
A travesty!!
Yes, couldn’t agree more GD. With any other manager he’d have been a regular.
Great win yesterday – a different and nice way to start a season.
A classic ‘game of two halves’ nicely streamed by WolvesTV (albeit with a bit of camera-shake just before half-time). Great to see us passing the ball out from the back, not only when in space but even when under severe pressure. Love the 3-4-3 set up, but my one concern is that in each of our last 3 matches (Jablonec, Leicester, Boro’) their managers have managed to largely negate it as an attacking approach after half-time. So Nuno has to find a ‘Plan B’ for us, but its a bit unfair to expect him to come up with that just yet as we’re still trying to perfect ‘Plan A’.
Still, no complaints here – 3 points from one of our toughest fixtures of the season.
I should think ‘Plan B’ will be the introduction of the 4 or 5 top class forwards we have waiting in the wings . Wings , ha, geddit ? They’ll be a force beyond negation !
As someone who subscribed for several years to the old WolvesPlayer service, I read with interest the problems some are having with the new WolvesTV.
I’ve had a few niggles with WolvesTV myself but look at it like this. All I got with Player was audio commentary, match highlights some days later and a few peripheral videos. With WolvesTV I get all this plus full match replay and the ability for our ex-pat fans to watch live.
It’s a new service and teething troubles are only to be expected. What it proves to me is that our new owners really are doing their absolute best for we fans and after years of being taken for granted, at last we are being treated like valued customers. And I like it very much.
What I mean is, we should cut ’em a little slack and I’m sure they’ll iron out the wrinkles.
Does someone know if it is possible to watch Wolvestv on pc’s with Linux OS? One of the requirements according to the information on the Wolves.co.uk is windows OS.
I’m sure someone does Karlir, but not me.
Well folks, not been long home but thank you Wolves for a fab birthday weekend. We had a nightmare two and a half hour journey to Wolvo which is why we didn’t meet up with some of you bloggers. Stayed in our hotel room to avoid the thunderstorm so only got to The North Bank bar when most of you had left about 2:30pm. Nice to see Stu & Jen outside and as always, it was lovely to meet up with Bedders inside the ground. London Wolves, it was me that said hello and shook your hand outside the North Bank but not sure if you knew who I was mate. Thought the game was great, Boly and Ruddy were fab. Still think we need another striker though. At one point Boro had Gestede, Bamford & WombleZombie (whatever his name is) and they still couldn’t score. I really think that this is the year. Moving on from the game, me and Sue went to our usual post match Chinese restaurant. We were minding our own business when the chap on the next table said “you are Newark Wolves aren’t you, can I have a selfie?”. I said, “no problem Jeff, my pleasure”. Apparantley Toyah Wilcox had told him that Wingy from Newark is always up for a selfie. Attached is the said picture of me and Jeff and thank you to all you bloggers for the birthday messages. This IS the year.
Jammy twat that Jeff Shi, how lucky is he.
He regularly reads this blog and I bet he shit his cacks when he saw Newark Wolf sitting next to him. I’m thinking of inviting him to the Next bloggers ball, I bet he’d be overawed but we’d look after him.
What about inviting me to the bloggers ball Stu ? I could bring my selfie mates Toyah and Jeff with me.
Your’e too aloof mate, first year you wouldn’t sit with us, last season you decided to go and watch Bay City Rollers.
I was hoping to ask you if you would talk to Big Jeff for us, with your clout you could swing it for us.
Swap aloof for fat kid and Sue who had never met you guys before and Bay City Rollers for Bruno Mars and you are about right Stu. Have to say though that you are the best bunch of football fans on this blog EVER !
You’re not swapping Sue for anything, she’s a nice lady.
You’re not kidding anyone boy, Bruno Mars my Anorak, it was Bay City Rollers.
Shang a lang

Apparently Newark is the one on the right.
Waggy. What a player. The thinnest ankles you’ll ever see but equally one of the hardest shots you’d ever see too. Remember the UEFA Cup final 2nd leg when his goal flew past Pat Jennings from 30 yards, hit the stanchion and rebounded out so fast some in the crowd didn’t even realise it had gone in. Whenever my Dad took me to see Wolves play when I were nowt but a lad he’d always say Waggy was really good and used to tell me to watch him closely and learn. Had the pleasure of meeting him when he was Steward at some social club in Wolverhampton – no idea what club – and chatted to him for about 2 hours all about his career, his time at Wolves, football in general – it was magical. He loved a drink and a cigarette and as a player was so nervous before games he’d disappear into the toilet and have several fags just before running out onto the pitch and playing 90 minutes of searingly cracking entertaining football.
R.I.P. great man. Never to be forgotten and ALWAYS in my ‘Wolves All Time XI’.
Absolutely one of the all time greatest to wear the old gold shirt. Or any other shirt for that matter.
Just loved watching that; lovely football. I did feel ‘boro were a much better side than many think and with some luck could have stolen the points. I think we shook them with our quality and swift closing down first half. They may have edged the second half but the sheer quality of our defending saw us through. Enobkhare is still only a teen and is a considerable talent imv. Coaching is improving him; in the first half he was moving the ball quickly and intelligently. Second half as he tired he returned to type. This league is never less than difficult and will always be a hard slog, but I will love watching these guys play. Great times so let’s enjoy fully.
The press seemed to focus on Boro being unlucky.
This wasn’t the match I watched, in the first half Wolves completely dominated the match and in the second half we tired and defended deep but very effectively.
Long may we keep under the radar and surpise teams.
It normally takes the ‘experts’ several matches before they catch on to whats going on.
Wolves are 3/1 to beat Derby well worth a punt on current form.
And a special word of praise to London Wolves Loyal, Matt the Jagtank driver, for wearing a Portugal shirt!
Good job their national colours are not blue and white or he would have looked a bigger plonker than he is!!!
FOwb
Eu nunca me vestirel como uma boceta de albion
Buying the shirt is one thing but learning the language is above and beyond the call of duty… :-))
Talking like that, you may get a brush (brosch) with the law.
A good win ……BUT yeah there’s always a BUT if the Boro defender hadn’t made such a bad back pass we would have drew 0.0 because the build up play was brilliant lovely little triangles all over the pitch but when it came to the final third we had no idea.
From the North Bank upper tier where I was sat time and time again the first half the ball was being pass beau fully A CROSS the pitch yeah A CROSS the new lad up on his own did his best but either the ball wasn’t being passed to him FIRST time or he got tied of waiting watching the ball go a cross the pitch that he missed timed his run or just didn’t bother.
Secound half again was more of the same beautifull triangle passes across the pitch but, espeailly when Diko came on it was like last season all over again balls up to his head his neck and so on.
We won yes but it was down to a big stroke of luck make no mistake we will not get the luck we got for the goal in every match. The ref was abysmal as usual and we had a stone wall pen.
I get what Nuno is trying to do play football but that not always possible or advisable in the Championship. Playing one up front for me is a no no you need two also how many times the secound half we won the ball back in defence then gave it away because Dicko was on his own and unable to keep it.
People will say I’m being over critical but a good few fans around me were saying the same..!
Paul,
Your being over critical, lol.
I’m in NU3, where do you sit?
M96 Stu. I know it’s the first game of the season and we are a work in progress from the back to midfield yeah brilliant but from midfield to our lone striker well we need either to get the midfield up quicker to support the lone striker or play 2 up front.
Dicko was totally isolated when he came on because the midfield were not getting up to support him. He’s at his best when he has a partner if we continue to play him up front on his own then we are not be playing to his strengths and he will be lucky to get into double figures.
That goes for who Evers up front on there own we won’t win games 1.0 all the times as solid as the back line looks .
Paul – we are not going to play 2 up front. The last time we did for a whole season was 9 years ago. Jackett tried it in Lge 1 but then abandoned it at Christmas in favour of 4231, If you look at all the top teams at the moment none of them play with two up front. Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Man C, Man U, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona etc. All teams nowadays, rightly or wrongly, play with one central striker regardless of whether they are playing 343, 4231, 433 or whatever.
I get where you are coming from but the chances of us using a twin striker partnership like Dougan/Richards, Bull/Mutch or even Iwelumo/Ebanks-Blake are about as good as televised live football being scrapped or advertising on shirts being banned.
And if we get back to the Prem, are we going to look back and say “if we weren’t so lucky against Boro….”?
No? Didn’t think so.
By the way, what other pearls of wisdom are you going to come out with mate? What was it you said last season, something about you being naked if Costa was ever to put a Wolves shirt on again……
I was at the game I don’t know if you were or not as I’ve said that’s JUST my option and observations and as I’ve also said we are a work in progress and Nuno seems to be aware of we’re we need to improve.
As for Costa I’m glad he’s staying although if he wasn’t injured who knows. I’m not purporting to be all knowing I’m just giving my options isnt that what this Bloggs all about…..I don’t expect you or anyone else to agree with me or care to be honest.
It was the first game and yeah Nunos not a miracle worker he has got them playing as a unit the passing is better than I’ve seen for years and the defence seems solid, we are as I have said a work in progress and I’m sure he will get it right.
So if there lad hadn’t made a mistake it would have been 0.0 wouldn’t it………..we didn’t score any more goals did we….wasn’t it 1.0 win.
Clean sheet & 3 points. Great start & solid foundation to build on.
Seasons looking positive
I hope you continue with good luck. I am a fanatic fan of FC Porto and Ruben Neves has always been my favorite player since the youth ranks of the club. It’s a big buy for your club, just like Boly, a powerful and untamed central defender. Wolverhampton have gained a new adept. Go Wolves! Good luck from Portugal!
Your’e too aloof mate, first year you wouldn’t sit with us, last season you decided to go and watch Bay City Rollers.
I was hoping to ask you if you would talk to Big Jeff for us, with your clout you could swing it for us.
Obrigado Paulo,
I went as a guest of your team to FCPorto’s game with Manchester United with your club doctor Serralva Alves, he was a friend of mine who worked alongside me in Porto.
We have all spotted that Ruben Neves is something special and thank you and your club for him, he will just keep getting better and better.
Boa Noiht
🙂
Boa noite!
And now, on to Derby!
Don’t forget the cup game versus Yeovil Tuesday. A good opportunity for The players not involved against Middlesbrough to shine. Cavaleiro, Dicko (or Mason), Jordan Graham, Zyro, Price, Batth, Hause, Norris, just to mention a few.
Important to win one of the cups and qualify for Europe :=)))
Great call KJK,
Should be a stroll in the park, but watch for the shenanigans of kicking us up in the air….
They’ll be smarting from their weekend result, but this should be an extended pre-season option for Nuno…
He’s going to have to rotate during this season so why not test the likes of the names above…
I’d settle for a good cup run with a repeat day out at Anfield
COMB
Cavaleiro is suspended until Saturday.
Could be a dangerous game. Will be physical like against Peterborough and Shrewsbury. They lost 8 something against Luton on Saturday so will want to win back some pride. I would put on Danny Batth, Bennet, Price, Edwards, Mason, Zyro. Don’t risk our first teamers. Should still win it with that lot
Paulo,
I hope you come on our blog again, you can give us the low down on players.
What’s your opinion of Tiquinho Soares, rumour has it we are to buy him in the next few days.
No way, i think! He’s our lead forward. He’s not a technical portent, but it is surgical in the end. Porto has already sold André Silva to Milan. Soares is a key player and, with Aboubakar, form a powerful pair in the front. I do not say that can not happen, because FC Porto is under the control of UEFA, in financial fair play, but to sell someone, it will probably be Danilo.
If Soares would come, you would love him!
Obrigado,
I’m not saying we have bought heavily into Portuguese players, but we were flying Portuguese flags in our crowd on Saturday and there were 8 -10 Porto fans all with Neves on their shirts on our terraces. My family name is Alves so I always receive a warm welcome in Portugal.
We will take Danilo and Soares please. His fellow team mates are years ahead of our old players.
Highlights of the day for me: 1.The reception for the Carl video screen announcement 2.The exemplary observation of it by the Boro fans 3.John Ruddy 4.The composure shown by the Brazilian chap for the goal 5.The lack of panic on the ball 6.The pass from Neves from the edge of his own box to the right corner flag – simply class 7.Loads of beer 8.Finding out the Hull manager is called ‘SLUTSKY’ 9.The Hull equaliser greeted by loud appreciation in the George Wallis 10.WE WON!….. THOSE WERE THE DAYS MY FRIEND AND THE ARE COMING BACK.Liked the idea of the Portugal shirt. Maybe we should get a big Portugal flag with WOLVES BLOG written on it. FWAW. FOWB. AV. BC.
With all these crazy transfer fees, sometimes its the free transfers that are the key, and Ruddy in goal was top class on Saturday, some very good saves and looked very assured throughout.
As I thought our set up means we won`t let many goals in, although its not every game that the opposition right back will gift us a goal chance, but so what its pressure that caused the error.
We may not score a bag load of goals, but our set up is ideal for away games, hit teams on the break with pace and movement, so I`m looking forward to Derby and another three points.
What a fabulous experience at the Mol on Saturday, the first of many such wonderful Saturdays this season.
Hi Paulo I am going to olhao for a fortnight in September if you fancy a pint .
We can start the Porto wolves supporters club.
Actually its started already I think.
Go Porto.
P.s got any more players we can borrow.
LOL.
You will enjoy your stay. Algarve is great at any time of the year. Unfortunately, I live almost in the other end of the country, in Aveiro, also a city that deserves to be visited.
If you come to this side, I’ll pay you a Maldita, a delicious craft beer.
We stayed in Aveiro for much of Euro 2004, a great base for matches in Guimaraes, Porto, Braga and Leiria. Aveira’s a beautiful town, reminded me a bit of a mini-Venice, and nice beaches but the water was sooooo cold…Food was also great but I don’t remember Maldita
It’s new.
And yes, the north coast has beautiful beaches, but the water is extremely cold.
http://cervejamaldita.pt/
– Iorfa impresses: “There were impressive performances throughout the side, debutants Garner and Iorfa impressed their new home supporters, while Ward also caught the eye in central midfield.” Quote from match report.
– Iorfa played wing back for Ipswich which lined up in a 3-5-2.
And an excellent assist from Duckens Nazon for Coventry, after showing off some fine dribbling skills.
At last, thanks to Wolves TV I was able to watch a game or half a game (lost the picture just as teams came out and got it back at half time). Its all been said really, we looked impressive and defended very well 2nd half, brilliant passing even from within our own penalty area we played short triangles to move the ball up field. Some great log balls too, not just hoofed up the field, played right in to the space for us to run on too.
Sais took a lot of stick last season but the new coaching staff spotted his talent and he looks really at home now. Bright desperately needs a season on loan somewhere to learn how to make correct decisions. Dicko was well off the pace and I can not see him regaining his touch from the past and Edwards came on and then disappeared in the crowd. Impressive first game and lots more to come as they blend in with experience.
Wolves TV, very good quality, no commentary but that’s not a bad thing. I lost picture just as they came out first half but that is probably due to our ancient system here in New Zealand, its about as good as it was in UK in 1843, but second half was great. After the game there is 10 minute highlights available with commentary, so not bad for £5.
Is there any other club in the land that has the amount of negative waves emanating from their fans, especially at the beginning of the season, and after an excellent team performance against the supposed favourites to win the league, and having key players missing, and seven debutants?
Get fuckin’ over yourselves!
What more do you want?
Three points.
A clean sheet.
I will take 1 -0 every week, thank you very much.
Leeds used to do it, 1-0, shut up shop, league championship, job done.
Bollocks to what other team’s fans think.
Nuno said it in his post match interview with the E & S dickhead.
I don’t care what others think, we are ( Fans and Players) The Wolves Pack.
Fuckin’ A.
I love this bloke, his style, his players and his system.
We are going to cream everyone this season.
Watch the movie Kelly’s heroes.
STOP WITH THE NEGATIVE WAVES!!!
” it’s a mother beautiful bridge and it will be there ” not negative Clive just my observations it was said about the pre: season games that the midfield to the attack needed working on and I’m SURE Nuno is aware of that.
Get another striker in and then we will have the option of playing two up front in this League you need to mix it up you need a plan B if plan A not working, that’s all I’m saying.
The passing was a joy to watch from the back to midfield we just need to work on midfield to attack.
Houston, they are the ones with the problem. One-nils took Leeds all the way to the semi-finals of the Champion’s League. Nowt wrong with 1-0.
We are being seriously talked about …a few don’t like our latent intentions lol

Albion fan, send him Boro’s e-mail address.
Most of our players are from Porto, tell him,” it snows in the mountains in Spain 40 miles to the East of Porto”, they ski there. We don’t have any ski slopes near us and we still play football in the winter, so why won’t our newbies be able to?. This article tells me, the tossers are taking us seriously.
We’ve not even finished buying yet what’s wrong with them, got players coming in this week.
They need to get a life and get over it.
Taxi for Jack Price.
Steve – that’s interesting. The article with the silly cartoon pictures next to it was written by some bloke called Chris Dunlavy and appeared in Sunday’s edition of the Football League newspaper which I buy each Sunday (well ok then, I buy whenever we win!). I bought it yesterday of course and read the article and was so incensed by the negativity as well as some major inaccuracies that I emailed the paper to express my views.
Yeovil at mol tomorrow night hope zyro and Graham start need some game time
Think mason will be off on loan somewhere or sold hopefully he will never make it especially in our new formation plus the fact he isn’t good enough
Would be nice for a league cup run play a few u23 in it too
Up the wolves
I’m confident that this season we’ll do a lot better in the League Cup. Recent seasons have seen us lose to teams in lower divisions, just as we beat Liverpool then lose to Burton.
I don’t expect that sort of thing this year, quality and consistency all the way !
We’ll beat Yeovil easily, will be good to see what more depth we have in the squad.
I’m starting to think a certain Blogger on here is writing the player ratings for the E&S.
How else can you explain this?
Willy Boly – who I thought was one of the game’s outstanding performers and who played the whole 90 minutes gets a score of 6/10
Dave Edwards – who only came on with 12 minutes to go, hardly touched the ball at all and whose first contribution was to shin the ball into touch when attempting a volleyed pass also gets a score of 6/10
DOOGooder – have you taken up a sideline working for the E&S on the quiet?
Shhh!
Don’t tell anyone.
It earns me a bit of extra pocket money and I get to share my sandwiches with Tim Spiers.
That’s why your so thin. You told us you were poorly, I bet that was to deflect the shame of us knowing your mate is TS.
Bedford it’s not me cannot get blamed for that and yeah had to laugh re: Dangerous’s first touch into top tier Steve Bull stand…….classic.
Gotta agree Beds,Boly was class all game,One little mistake that’s all I saw.
Wolves v Yeovil
Possible team?
Norris
Bennett Batth Deslandes
Graham Price Edwards Vinagre
Zyro Dicko Ronan
No too shabby?
Anyone got any news on the injured players – Hause, Ofusu-Ayeh, Marshall and Costa – in terms of when any might be back?
The silence from the new regime regarding injured players is deafening. I’m not sure why and I’m not sure I like it very much.
Costa4 weeks they are saying.
Fantastic start by the lads, i have a feeling we are in for a great season, fingers crossed.
Wonder if anybody can help, is Wolves TV worth subscribing to and what do you get for your money, cheers and up the Wolves!
Bognor, I paid for and watched Wolves tv, and it was perfect.
I turned on my pc about 30 minutes before kick off, watched Steve Daley interviewing on the pitch, and then the camera wandered all over the place, much as I would have done if I had been sitting in the Billy Quiet.
There was no commentary, no instant replays, and the sound and visual quality was excellent.
A fiver very well spent.
I don’t know, however, if you can get what I watched in the UK.
Hope you can coz it’s well worth the money, better than a $2000.00 trip over!!
I would think whether it’s worth It depends on where you live Bognor. I’m in Devon so it’s a long hike for me to get to games so definitely worth it for me.
Where are you? 🙂
Hi Wolfstroker, yes live in Bognor so a long way from the Mol, do you get live radio and full coverage (Tv of the match) later on the day it is played, cheers for your help
Live audio on the day Bogner but full TV coverage is a few days later. Contractual restrictions I think. The audio is good though. Mikey Burrows getting all over excited.
Defense and central midfield again looked largely solid, disciplined and organised.
However, as was the case with all the pre-season games with the exception of Leicester, we created very little offensively.
There are three reasons for this:
1) Central midfield pairing predominantly sit deep and offer protection to defense – meaning that they offer little further up the field.
2) While the wing-backs are good wide outlets, they are not wingers and we consequently pose very little threat from wide areas.
3) With the exception of Costa, Graham and Marshall (all of whom are not in contention at the moment and have not had a proper pre-season) – as promising as Bright and Cav are, they offer very little meaningful end product as forwards (i.e. creating goalscoring opportunities and scoring goals).
Result: Very little threat from central midfield and wide areas + very little meaningful end product from forwards = MINIMAL OFFENSIVE CREATIVITY AND THREAT.
Dave agree totally mate but don’t say it to loud or you will be accused of being to critical and a doom and gloom merchant….I suggest a lot of fans seen what you and I seen in that the link up play from midfield to attack needs working on.
I wouldn’t take too much notice of Houston, mate – it’s his usual shtick to become aggressive and verbal towards those he disagrees with or who dare challenge him or his merry men.
While there’s certainly early promise from the boys (defensive organisation), there’s nothing wrong with qualifying this by commenting on areas that are not yet as they need to be if we’re gonna challenge this season.
And if that’s a case of pot and kettle I don’t know what is.
Or even Not!!
Don’t recall seeing aggressive and verbal.
Still, as Basil used to say to Sybil…..You know best.
Hey come on Houston you know your default is “you are all idiots and I am right and I can shout loudest and my merry men will back me”
well being as one is not supposed to be able to argue with a closed mind………………
Trust me Cotswold, what Clive says is almost always tongue in cheek. And he’s got a huge tongue, so I’m told.
Some fair points Dave but we’re still settling in. The consensus at the Boro end is mainly that we were the better team. In spite of relegation, Boro have been a defensively strong team for many years. Scoring has been their downfall and they went all out to rectify that against us. Last year’s Wolves side would have caved in against such opposition.
Cav scored a cracker against Leicester. Young Bright is an exciting talent and the goals will come. He was felled in the area on Saturday after his trademark trickery and we should have had a penalty.
I’d say a pretty good result all round.
I agree that last season’s lot would have caved in on Saturday, which is why I praised the defense/central midfield protection; it gives us hope of defensive solidity for the season ahead – which makes a nice change!
I also agree that the new manager and players are still settling in and that Cav scored a great goal last week. However, can I see Cav and Bright – for all their promise – providing meaningful end product this season? No, I don’t. Do you?
Yes I do see Cav providing meaningful end product. He had moments of brilliance last season but was infuriatingly inconsistent. Costa was the same in early season remember. Watch Cav develop under Nuno’s coaching methods. Regarding Bright, he’s just an exciting prospect at the moment but if anyone get him there it’s Nuno.
Nuno is building from the back and the results are apparent. Two clean sheets against top sides. The offensive threat will follow.
I hope you’re right, mate – for, if Cav or/and Bright do offer consistent meaningful end product this season, I’ll be very surprised.
I’ts plain to see he’s building from the back and that greater emphasis will hopefully soon begin to be placed on the final third of the field – however, my point is that with Costa, Marshall and Graham being/having been out injured, I don’t see where the consistent end product is coming from, particularly in the wide forward positions.
Furthermore, with the wingbacks offering limited threat from wide areas and the CM two playing very deep – I don’t see how this situation will markedly change until messers Costa, Graham and Marshall do return (and even when Graham and Marshall are hopefully back fully fit, I have a feeling they won’t be utilised in the positions they can be most effective).
Steve I agree up until the goal and after we played great football across the pitch and back and when Diko came on he was having to deal with balls up to him around his head and neck and because he was on his own.
When the ball came out frome defence it rarely went to him and when it did he had no one in support so Boro regained possession which is why we were under so much pressure the last 15, 20 min……..why else were the home fans whistling for the final whistle…….because we were under so much pressure that’s why..!
Back late last night after an excellent weekend in Wolverhampton. It was so good to get back to Molineux and see our new guys, inc. Nuno, in action. I was pleased with what I saw but, even better, it’s the knowing that there is more to come.
Barbara and I were sorry to have missed alll the Bloggers in the North Bank Bar pre-match but it was good to catch up with Wolfstroker there post-match.
Looking forward to doing it all again shortly – possibly next month.
Thanks Clive much appreciated!
There are still spaces on coach for Derby, free travel for DSA members, email wolvesdsa@hotmail.co.uk for further details
I think if you read up on Nuno’s track record he has built success on a solid defence, midfield possession and patiently waiting for opportunities to cut lose with a killer pass. He hassles opposition into making mistakes when they are in possession and then counter attacks. This is not Keegan football and we will need to be patient. From Saturday the big development that he will see required is not giving the ball away so easy. That led to us losing control towards the end of the game as we tired. It will be different to watch and it may mean that with less cut and thrust that the Mol crowd is quoted till they get used to it. But it will be full of quality and I’m sure it will lead to success.
I’m lovin it.
Someone’s warming to us at least.

We’ll always have the knockers i’m afraid ,but who cares we’re used to it.
Hope we have the LAST LOFF.UTW
It would be interesting to know how many teams in the Championship are playing with one up front…….did Newcastle, Brighton and Huddersfield ….?
Hi Stu,
Thanks for posting the Brum Mail article as I’d never have seen it otherwise.
Whilst I’d prefer to go under the radar of the Chumpionshit League, the write is splendidly accurate.
Sky may have their millions but to hear the Piddleborer had lost the game rather than we’d won was bolox
Letting Nuno sort the back & midfield out first seems the sensible approach, yes I’d like to win every game 5:0 but I’d take a shite load of 0 against to start.
This team are still learning each other nuances, they will win and/or draw considerably more than lose and I’d stick with the formula being employed thus far.
We’ve wanted, no dreamed of this situation for many years, but this feels better to me than the start of either of the successful campaigns when we won promotion.
And as Clive has said a few times, our new owner (not Jeff) will splash the cash to keep us there this time round.
C O Y F W
If yo ay excited by now yo ay wi it. This is our time. NUNO gonna tek us promised land no fucking problem. Fuck off ya doom fuckin mongers Wolves ay we!
Imbibed a modicum of alcohol, possibly, Cheesey old pal???
