Wolves upset the odds in this fixture in those plucky underdog years under Mick McCarthy. City weren’t quite as good back then of course.
Then again, neither were we.
This might be the fifth Premier League season Wolves have contested but it’s the first in which you can truly say they’ve arrived – a fact underlined by standing toe-to-toe with the very best.

Of course we were under the cosh at times – that’s to be expected – but this precious point owes as much to finesse and tactical intelligence as it does to those spit and sawdust attributes of our previous top flight triumphs.
Pep’s boys moved the ball with the laser-like precision we all expected, creating space where there didn’t appear to be any and dangerous sighters at will.
But whenever the door swung momentarily open it was routinely slammed shut by a smart interception, a timely block, or most spectacularly, the fingertips of Rui Patricio.
More often than not though, there was no way through in the first place as Nuno’s back five proved impossible for Pythagoras Passing FC to penetrate.
The shape and discipline of the side is to be admired and it’s that organisation out of possession that allows them to sparkle when they’ve got the ball.
It was more direct than usual today, which is understandable against a team built to pick your pocket in dangerous areas of the pitch and exploit the space it creates.
But when long balls were heaved forward Raul Jimenez proved a willing target, winning his share of aerial duels and chasing down the lost causes to bring others into play.
Whether he was unlucky or foolish to find himself about an inch offside for the goal he had chalked off is debatable but you cannot deny he looks an astute addition.
Similarly Joao Moutinho continues to produce the type of understated consistency we fully expected capped with moments of high quality. Case in point, his inch perfect cross for Willy Boly to bundle home.

It probably was a handball, but tough to begrudge the big man his moment after such a colossal performance in defence.
Laporte got the run on him for the equaliser, exploiting the zonal marking system with a perfectly timed run and header to give his side the point they deserved, but the former Porto defender was otherwise faultless delivering by far and away his best Premier League performance to date.
There were other plus points too, like Traore’s explosive cameo that could have won us the game, Jonny’s endless running and Helder Costa finally imposing himself on the big stage.
While the team remain winless from three closely fought encounters, there’s still much to celebrate in the performances. And that, for the moment at least, is enough.

F@@@ing fantastic today
Well done wolves !!
Great to see you yesterday in the NBB Matt, and Bedders with that ear to ear smile, priceless. Nice to see you to Bromto’, told you it would be a walk in the park, Wolves am we.
Nice to see you too felka
Well done for drinking seven thousand pounds worth of beer against Everton
Sorry to hear that your new wolves top has turned out to be a fake
I did not see you yesterday mate as I did not go to the NBB. Hate the place, you can’t hear yourself think. Anyway, brilliant atmosphere today. Hope to catch up with you v Burnley maybe.
Your double then Brompton, would have put money on it, your look alike didn’t bat an eyelid when I called him Brompto’.
Interested in who he was mate. I saw Stu outside the NBB around 1215 but did not go in. Will probably pop in v Burnley game though….. just to show you what I look like lol.
Once seen never forgotten.
That’s strange
We can always hear noises when you think
Wolves were lucky!
City dropped two points!
Really bad luck they hit the woodwork three times!
Wolves had to defend almost the whole match!
I have never heard such utter drivel by so called TV experts since the last time they commentated on a Wolves match.
Where were they last week when we hit the woodwork three times?
Boly handball for our goal?
Bollocks, the replay clearly shows his hand was going down to cushion his fall, a perfectly natural movement.
What about Sterling’s dive to get the free kick they scored from?
No mention of that, and all the other diving they did.
Reigning champions?
My arse.
THEY were lucky today.
WE dropped two points.
A brilliant game to watch, our lads were immense, and outfield, Boly had one of his best games for us, in goal Patricio was brilliant.
How he stopped that shot from Sterling I will never know.
No one hiding today, everyone played really well, proud to be a Wolves fan today, and the twelfth man, well, fuckin’ A!!
Great great time to be a Wolves fan, we are really going places after that display.
FOwb
Are you on Drugs.
And you are who? What is your review of the game?
Yes
Molineux Mollys
Nuno’s Narcotics
And the heady, heavy fumes of Euphoria and pride in supporting my club!
Oh , and bollocks to you!
Usually he is, yes.
Why do you ask?
Yes, the stats don’t lie: Wolves had 11 attempts, 2 attempts on goal. Man City had 18 attempts, six attempts on goal. Man city was the dominant side, but with better shooting the game could have tipped both ways.
I don’t know why but some , well most of the national media seen to want us to fail.
And I know when City first got took over and got going it was the same for them more so because of who there neighbour s are. They just seen to want to gloss over our skill and commitment and obviouse talent and belittle us when ever they get a chance.
Yes we had some good fortune today and SO did City its not often there manager says he is happy with a draw.
The national media will of course focus on how city SHOUD of won, yeah really be we and the players and Nuno know that they will be more than happy going home with a point.
As for the tabloids……well the best use for them is stick them behind the pipe for a runny day when you run out of Andrex……well done everyone 12th man ursume…!
Great result whats really funny is all the Man City fans calling for VAR….
Hilarious

We were fucking great today. Brilliant on the counter. Had the more clear cut chances. Absolutely fuckin proud of the boys. Av a look fuckin Sandwell. Yo am shit.
We hit the bar twice you Clown.
No mention of obvious penalty ?????
Penalty your joking he kicked his own standing leg and fell over. Replayed showed it clearly. Another myopic city fan you were lucky to get the draw
Also when does hitting the bar count?
Show a little respect young man!
And …….. you dropped two points. PMSL.
Same as in the cup game last season, you found it difficult to beat us, taking you 120 minutes and then penalties.
That said I believe you will be champions again this season as you are hard t o beat too. You have an excellent squad and I wish you all the best for the season.
Yes, you hit the bar.
A good team would have scored.
Dry your eyes .
Give us a few years
When I was a lad, if the ball hit your hand, or arm, it was handball. But nowadays, there has to be a deliberate move of the hand to the ball, or the hand must be in an unnatural position for handball to be given. As neither of those criteria applied to Big Willy, it was not handball and thus, a goal. So there.
Other way round for me. When I was a sprogg it was hand to ball for it to be a foul
Maybe we were lads at different times. 🙂
It’s always been the same: handball has to be deliberate and there was no way that was. Having said that, big Wily was offside because of Doherty’s slight touch. Bit of luck, yes, but we had none of that last week.
Just from memory, I disagree about the offside. Boly’s was a diving header, and, when the ball touched Doherty’s head, Willy was clearly behind Matt.
Unfortunately not, if you check the replay, but who cares? He must have scored- it’s in the record books!
It’s a dead issue. But I stick to my guns—even after checking the replay, it looks to me that, at the moment the ball touched Matt’s head, Willy’s dive had not yet taken him in front of Matt, so it was not offside.
Overall though, we played brilliantly. A world class save from Rui and a few near things but otherwise Citeh showed little and we were quick and controlled on the break and steadfast in defense. Everyone played well, even those who have showed little so far this season.
Hearty congrats to all concerned.
My man of the match was Costa he was excellent today after a poor performance at Leicester. He created a few opportunities and made Mendy look stupid a couple of times and forced him back down the pitch to an extent that he wasn’t much of a threat. Nunos tactics were great today and the team as you say were great keeper to centre forward. Bring on West Ham
Well said
I agree , his heroics seemed to have been a bit overlooked
My man of the match too
Could not agree more, mate. I am feeling good about the season. If we play well and impose our system on teams, a la Nuno, then we will do well.
Best of all, there will probably be lots more cracking games like this one to relish.
Good to see you back Jerry.
What’s the story with the narrow boat?
Massive result for us. The Mol was A massive factor. Love it. All the fuckin pundits can fuck off. FUCKIN WOLVES AY WE
If you are allowed to use the F-word continually in your posts(2 on this page alone) I would like to be able to resume posting pictures of scantily clad ladies.
You see mate. This is why punk rock evolved and some people did (and do) find it offensive. It offered an alternative to small c conservatism and put two fingers up to the Establishment. I suggest you shouldn’t come to the next punk all-day er in Wolverhampton because you would probably walk out the door in 10 minutes as the use of the f word is commonplace and no one finds it offensive. I am not the only one on here to use it. If the Blog tells me to stop I will respect that decision. Happy to discuss.
PIL.
Wolves Aye We
Fabulous Dorset. Seen PIL a few times. Last time 2 years ago and in Wolves. Best I have ever seen them. John Lydon was on magnificent form. Played all the stuff from late 70’s to date. Brilliant.
It doesn’t particularly bother me one way or the other but if the F word is commonplace and nobody finds it offensive, doesn’t it rather take away the whole point of using it?
If we are having a debate in 2018 about whether a word is offensive or not. I think it is a bit sad. I find lots of things offensive like Brexit Donald Trump The Tories. But I don’t bleat about it. In my world swearing and the fword don’t mean anything. I live in the deepest Black Country and we don’t care about that. Sorry if folks are upset by it. I thought the PC Brigade were supposed be snowflakes….
I think you’ve missed the point I’m trying to make here Cheesy.
I’m not having a go, I’m definitely not bleating and I am certainly not the PC Brigade.
I use the F word as much as the next man, unless the next man is you or Clive( lol), I was merely attempting to point out that the more a word is used, the less power it has to offend until it becomes virtually meaningless.
It was originally meant to shock and now it doesn’t.
It was more a discussion point rather than an opinion. Sorry if I’ve offended.
Note to self:- It’s a football blog, stick to football.
PS. Donald Trump offends me too.
PPS. Oh! Bum! There I go again.
We hit the bar twice your keeper made saves on the line.
You were dominated for long periods and you had that clown Atkinson on side,
Don’t get me wrong, you didn’t park the Bus and played well but don’t be getting giddy and start claiming a result. What is it two home draws and a defeat. You need to start winning.
You mean your forwards missed goal scoring chances. So no we did well you were poor. As for the ref he fell for sterling’s dive which again the replay clearly showed was exactly that and a 9 out of 10 for artistic impression. So you didn’t deserve the free kick. You could have won and on another day maybe you would but equally we cut you to pieces first half and a less keen forward would have had a tap in.
Draw was a fair result on the day. Look forward to playing you at your place see what we can achieve then after we have settled down and got used to the pace of the Premier league. We intend to measure our progress against you as our yardstick and add you saw we ain’t afraid of you
You seem a typical City fan, with no life.
If you have nothing better to do than go on other club’s blogs and try to pretend your lot deserved to win, I suggest you get out more.
And sitting in mummy’s basement, trolling web and porn sites does not constitute getting out.
Until we meet again, hopefully never, y’all have a nice day.
We hit the bar 3 times last week. Did we get points for that?
Do you get extra points for hitting the bar ???
I was at the game. Pissed and on my way home and on the shitty train to Birmingham. City were class and we held them which is something to be proud of. We are a good team but shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves. Loved today great result let’s smash West Ham
I’m worried chaps. Really worried. We scraped a point against one of the best teams in the world. A point.
Meanwhile, the Vile were unlucky to drop points today. They nearly ended up getting three points. If they had, they’d have closed the gap on us. Alan would have claimed were sliding down and can be caught.
Hold on. What am I thinking. We got a point, held our own easily against one of the best teams in the world. The whole world!!! Remind me, what division are we in?
Exactly and we took the lead and the crowd were so supportive got behind the team and the noise was immense.
Excellent performance from every member of the team, subs included. Great to see Jota and Costa back to something like normal form and keeping Walker and Mendy back in their own half for long periods.
City were also very good as you would expect – dominated possession and caused us problems first half. But for long periods of the second they offered not much more than controlled possession in front of our defence. Where they were very good was in snuffing out many of our attempts to counter-attack in their early stages; sometimes by great anticipation of a pass, sometimes by a little obstruction of a player and sometimes by a simple professional foul.
If the team can’t see that they can not merely compete but can prosper, in this league, after a performance like that then they never will. Personally I can’t wait for the West Ham match.
Jota is not yet up to speed in this division. Gives the ball away too often and whilst last year he wriggled past defenders or got pulled down, this year the better quality defending is taking the ball off him. However he is still a young man with a lot to learn and is improving every game. I would say another couple of games and we will really see what he can do. This is not criticism of Jota as he is my favourite player and I am starting to lick my lips at the thought at what we will do to teams when everyone is up to Premier speed.
Well my 0-3 forecast in favour of Citeh really come unstuck today and there was nobody more delighted by that than myself of course.
An excellent performance from the Wolves today and a deserved result, albeit with the aid of an “illegal” goal and the magnetic appeal of our goalposts.
Hopefully this will have done much to convince our players that they really can achieve great things this season. This was as tough enough a nut to overcome as this season will throw up and they rose to the occasion with aplomb. Onwards and upwards hopefully from hereon, beginning with the next fixture away to oh so tacky Wham. We certainly must not lose that game and, hopefully, will come away with the 3 points.
Wolves ay we alright!!
There’s very little more satisfying than the sound of bleating from someone who thinks that they have the right to win every football game and have any break that’s available.
We were on the wrong side of every piece of luck going last week and today we got a bit of fortune… but matched Citeh in skill and application, and could have won the game.
So, to City fans who have come on this blog, “That’s life baby!”. There’s a new force awakened in the land and we’re coming for you.
There’s a saying “You make your own luck” and we did today.
And we deserved it. Every man in Old Gold was a hero.
As the great Paul Weller once said:- “That’s entertainment” – and it certainly was.
Two very good teams going at it hammer and tongs to win a game.
As we have learned to our cost in the past, statistics mean nothing. It’s the end result that counts.
Oh! Yes, one more thing.
Were there any City fans there today?
I thought I heard a whisper when they scored but, apart from that, all I could hear was the Molineux roar.
The Pack is back!
And I put my money where my mouth is.
I won eighty quid forecasting a draw.
Cheers Citeh!
Bet you still don’t pay for Sue’s dinner!
Can’t open my wallet because of the bad thumb Clive.
I damaged it while thumbing my nose at the pundits who said City would hammer us.
I think it is going to take until October until the pundits in other parts of England realize what we have at Molineux.
In the US, it seemed like the pundits were looking for excuses to explain why City didn’t win, instead of why Wolves put in such a good showing.
Great work by Patricio. Not sure where he learned to kick but I suppose if you are going to hoof it, you are going to lose possession half the time anyway and he is only doing it with his right foot to get the ball out of danger.
Costa looked good again and the commentator here said he was the fastest guy on the pitch. Wonder what he thought when Adama came on.
Anyway, looks like our style is a good match for City’s and now commentators are saying every team should try it against City, not realizing that this is how we play every week, give or take.
For once I agree with everything you say, Tim.
Fuson s 7 year plan to win the premier league will have to be adjusted I think
We will do it within 3
Utw
I thought it one of the best performances I’ve seen by a Wolves team, in 50 years of supporting them.
Our potential is phenomenal, especially as the understanding between Neves and Moutinho grows.
You could not fault any of our players today.
Attack, defence and midfield.
Who cares what other fans or the media think?
Actions speak louder than words and if we continue to progress, Europe in two or three years, will be a reality.
How any Wolves supporter can be angry about anything, after a performance like that is beyond my comprehension….
Will someone explain to me what this new thing is about with players hiking up their shorts to take free-kicks? They look ridiculous.
Will someone also explain to me why an unintentional handball in the opposite box (of which we saw several in the World Cup) will not result in a penalty (because it was unintentional, so it is not classed as a handball) but an unintentional one that scores is a handball? Can’t have it both ways … either all handballs are handballs (period) or all unintentional ones are not (and clearly Boly’s was not, and so his goal is legit).
I too cannot believe the bias of the media. Not that I think it’s personal to Wolves, but they want to side with the “better” teams. Who knows what goes on behind the scenes. Who knows how many of them lost money today betting on City. Last week there was no mention of Wolves’ bad luck and being the better team, and apparently the media missed the 3 times we hit the woodwork. It was all down to not being clinical apparently. Today, however, it wasn’t down to being clinical for City … it was down to bad luck. Again, can’t have it both ways media! Be fair!
And finally, to all those City fans whose heads have blown up out of proportion because finally they won something … don’t forget who you are and where you came from. You’re really nothing but the second Manchester team, always were and always will be, and not so long ago were languishing in the second tier with us. Don’t let your temporary success from the enormous wads of money you have resorted to finally buy some success fool you. This too will pass, and once again, you will return to all you really are: the second Manchester team. 🙂
That apart, I am so happy to swallow my pride today because I never saw this coming and ashamedly predicted a heavy loss for Wolves. So happy to stand corrected.
Team was huge today. The result even bigger because I think this is what the lads needed to steady the nerves and restore confidence.
Onwards and upwards.
Go Wolves!!!
P.S. I still think Costa needs to get lessons from Andy Gray on how to finish 1:1s with the keeper! 🙂
Agreed Costa ghosts past defenders so many times he just needs to learn how to finish.
I refuse to get carried away after 3 games.
Nah feck it, that was Bostin, everyone playing his heart out for the team, the manager, the club and the fans.
It’s testiment to how well we played that Chris from wherever came on here and made comments.
Chris, Pundits, Collymore, we are not getting carried away, we are not rising above our station, we are not claiming the title after 3 games.
What we are is, feckin happy after performing bloody well against the best team in Britain and at the same time helping Liverpool into first place. (Stings eh Chris?)
Moutinho is developing into a great fit for Neves, Costa, Jota and Jiminez are starting to gel, Traore is getting fitter and oh yes we have a Dendocker to feed into the team.
What’s not to like guys and gals.
Bottom of the league next week.
Burnley the week after.
Then the other half of Mancaster.
Oh yes, love the cover of the programme, brilliant artist whoever it was.
I think the Artist is called Louise Cobbold….
Good comment Stu.
Well done boys. Fantastic performance. Molineux was Loud and proud!
Like a few others have said here – we played well, had a couple of lucky moments but took advantage of them (rather than last week when we were clearly the better team but these things went against us).
On the contrary however while I have seen reports (understandably tbf) saying that City might have been unlucky, I have seen several articles complimenting Wolves on how they played, for being positive and trying to attack City rather than rolling over (like Huddersfield and others have done). We are being given respect, no one is going to take us lightly this year.
BTW – Jiminez looks a fantastic pick up. I wasnt convinced based on his goals record but he has (other than Neves) been our best player so far I think
To hear Gary liniker discuss Wolves and praise us on match of the day says it all..
Yep there might of been a possible hand of god goal but City were lucky that our golden boy Neves didn’t break the net whith his chance..what were the odds of that? Patricio ‘s save underlined Mendes correct involvement in the keeper change and Costa prob cemented his place (could of scored too)
Overall after being told we could of apparantly lost 6 nil we can now say we have finally arrived particularly against this lot who I gather had £250M on the bench alone ..
We can now be afraid of no one.
COYW
Couldn’t be prouder.
Now all my mates and work colleagues will understand what I’ve been bleating in about for the last two years.
System worked
I hope loads took advantage of those silly odds yesterday! I had a cheeky bet on a wolves win 11 -1 ( at home against a team in the same league!!!!!) and could back it up with a draw at 4-1 and still doubled my money !
I guess we won’t see those odds again this season though
Utw
The ‘hand of Boly’……have you ever heard such shite. The comparison with our Big Willy and a serial cheater is downright offensive. Talking of cheats I don’t think I have ever watched a Citeh game apart from when they play us. I don’t do the watching all things football as I am only interested in my club. So I was really surprised to see what a cheating twat that geezer Kompany is. Unbelievable cynical cheater that should have been done along with the blatant divers in our box.
As for our guys, immense all of them. I was a bit concerned with Coady’s outings so far and a couple of the others but hopefully they are just in the transition phase.
It seems to be clicking nicely and as for motivation if I was Nuno I would have just stuck a message on the team notice board saying:
“Ladbrokes – Wolves to win 11/1” that in itself would have got me riled with the arrogance of everyone against our Golden Boys.
Finally fair play to Nuno for being Nuno and playing it the Wolves way……best manager in my lifetime by miles….never talks any bollox…..reminds me a bit of Dean Saunders…..
Watch other games Norsk. It might help in spotting our future stars!
Watching the game for a second time today
This time on Spanish tv.. better as can’t understand a word from commentators so just hear the Molineux sound track
First observation
What goes around comes around
Yes Boly goal was hand ball and possibly offside
However…
Company should have been sent off after 11 minutes.. he got his first yellow card then for a premeditated foul on Neves that stopped a counter attack.. but a few minutes before he dragged back Jota by his shirt .. I think an automatic yellow card ??
Yes Silva went down in box but who can prove Neves touched him?
Wanderers were just splendid and in particular Boly and Coady showed they can handle speed of PL.. presume Nuno had a few words there
Patricio..save of the season
Costa.. like I remember him
Yes we’d like more points .. but not only will they come in bunches but crowds will show up wherever we play because we play like WOLVES
Effing Ace
And Molineux is a place no one will look forward to visiting
Oh happy days
No big deal but I watched it for a second time also and it was Jonny that Kompany pulled back, I think.
Still
Watching Spanish tv
Aguero just collapsed in box
Cheating shite
And yes its Kompany not Company
Great to see some fellow bloggers in the cafe west park before the game we were brilliant against a superb side, travelling home down the M5 with other fellow Wolves fans ten cars counted scarfs out of the window. Then to hear Alan Shearer on the radio say Wolves were brilliant today the noise and support was believable.
Woves Aye We
Great to see you too Dorset.
I was brought up as a good catholic boy and after the Wolves game I have the need to make a confession on this site. Firstly it has been many years since I have been to confession father! I admit that I sinned by tipping Wolves to lose 4-1. I am so sorry Father. I promise never ever to do it again !!! Now I know that the team has gelled well and I will always tip positive results (just like Clive). Bless me Father.
You are forgiven my son.
Just say eleven ‘Hail Nunos’ and buy the new home shirt.
1st time I ever predicted a loss & did the lads ever prove me wrong or what!
Amazing game, I think the team is starting to accept the step up & react to it.
So proud of my team!
Big Willies goal I’ve watched it serveral times first it glances the top of his head and then it hits the TOP of his shoulder then it goes in not a hand or arm near it……GOAL simple as…..!
Couldn’t agree more.
If it we’re Aguero’s goal the pundits would have said, “put it down to luck” so we shall do the same.
What goes round, comes round.
Anyone got 1West Ham ticket spare.
10 out of 10 for the whole team yesterday they were immense.
Special mention for Costa, he got through his slow start and was superb.
Also Jonny showed what he was brought in for, no wonder he had to go off with cramp the amount of work he put in.
Funniest thing for me was when they had a corner in the second half. I saw Kompany ghosting in behind our defence. As you do I shouted “watch Kompany” at the top of my voice.
Beside me Stuwolf muttered “never mind Kompany watch Doherty”
Brilliant day!
So proud to be a Wolves fan. We were fantastic, the whole team were superb.
🙂
Onwards and upwards
I predicted a 2-1 win so i am not happy.
Costa should have shot earlier , Jota should have hit the target and Neves …. well… how the hell did he miss that sitter ???? oh and i forgot jimenez strolling into an offside position the silly man !!!
So Citeh one eyed spoilt child we should have scored 5 should you?
Not one of our players took a dive or committed a professional foul unlike your lot.
Wolves are still about a billion pounds worth of players behind Citeh but we most certainly are not a billion miles away from matching them on a football pitch.
Others will copy our style because we are now being seen as trend setters.
We are the team managers with less nous will copy because Nuno and his merry men are finding a new way , we are carrying a different flag, times are changing with the Fosun revolution .
Seven years my arse, this job will be accomplished well before seven years.
coyw.
Abso-bloody-lutely fantastic.
From the defense who have sorted themselves out, to the midfield who held their lines and the forwards who held back the citeh wing backs and made more than a nuisance of themselves. Fantastic.
Good to see Jota and Costa getting to grips with premier defenders. You can train all you like but nothing improves a player like proper combat, and I watched the pair grow into the game and come out the other side, dispelling the reservations I’d started to experience. Very pleasing indeed.
Next is West Aym, and their toxic crowd. We get an early goal down there and we’ll smash ’em.
UTW
Fabulous weekend, fabulous match. For a few minutes I even fantasised about holding them to my 1-0 P/L forecast.
So proud of the Wolves. They more than held their own against the reigning Premier League Champions. And the wall of sound generated around Molineux, WOW!
Awesome day at Molineux yesterday and my first visit for a long time. Boy was that a good game to pick and I noticed so much has changed in a couple of years.
Walking into the stadium the place has been smartened up considerably.
I couldn’t believe the giant TV screens have been fixed.
Molineux was absolutely rocking and it bought a tear to my eye – and what an amazing attendance – 31300 plus. And what an atmosphere !
The place has transformed in a short span of time, but other than the fabulous support from the crowd, the obvious changes were on the pitch.
We were playing one of the top 5 teams in the world and although we rode our luck at times ( nothing more than we deserved after last week ) we never looked out of our depth v City. In fact we looked perfectly at home and where we belong. Our first game was all about just getting it out of the way – against Leicester we were desperately unlucky and yesterday we showed a glimpse of what we are now capable of.
However, we should all listen to Nuno’s wise words. Stay humble, work hard, keep improving.
Do that and who knows how far we can go and what legacy Wolves could build ?
Best 1 all draw I can recall.
Two teams going for a win. One lacking the respect they deserve the other feted in the media and totally in love with themselves.
So much so, that their disbelief in how it was going, they felt entitled to resort to professional fouls and diving. Fortunately the much criticized ref got the penalty calls right but he was fooled by Sterling’s clever fall, which of course led their goal.
All in all contrary to the view of most but not all the media it’s Wolves who are entitled to feel hard done by.
Great atmosphere generated by the home faithful. No moans just passion loud and proud.
Oh by the way I predicted the right score. At last.
First and foremost what a fantastic performance from the lads on the pitch, and equally from the fans on the terrace’s.
I thought all played their part in a really great match, of which we fought them toe to toe even though they had the most possession it’s what you do with it that counts,as said they hit the woodwork three times but we had equally the same chances to score as they did.
Hopefully our next game against the Hammers will get us our first win and keep us in a good position in the league.
Can’t wait for the next home game.UTW.FOWB.
A brilliant performance and a thoroughly deserved result.
This is not the time to single out individual performances, because every member of this team was magnificent. No longer do we have to rely on ‘putting in a shift ‘. We are superbly coached and can actually play to the high quality that enables us to compete with the very best.
The key is the self belief that Nuno has instilled. There is a total commitment that is exhilarating for us fans to experience — and this is only the beginning.
Spotted this on a website.
Nuff said…..
My top-6 supporting friends at the bar complained that they couldn’t hear the live commentary because the crowd was too loud!
I told them it’s because I support a proper football club!
Well done you lot at the Mol!
And wow what a performance by the team!
Great stuff SG Wolf. Been a while since I was in Sydney. 2007 in The Ashes. I remember a German bar up by the Rocks. Lauenbrau two pint jugs. Walked out of their sideways and backwards. Brilliant.
I’m sure you guys have heard this before but it is the first time I have.
It’s not Wolves, it’s Wolvzsh.
Very early days I know but I am predicting where we may finish based on the points per game ratio after 3 games. Last year I said promotion would be sealed by around Cardiff away on 7 th April or Birmingham home 16 April. As it turned out we were promoted the day before the Blues game. Due to Fulham dropping points. Initial calculations show we will be safe after game 35 which is Brighton at home. That would have suggest we would be on about 43 points at that stage. Obviously a couple of wins in the next few games will alter that. We will see.
Theres a piece on the official Wolves web site showing some of our lads being interviewed after watching the movie Alpha.
They all say its good, worth watching, blah, blah, blah.
Dont’t believe them!
I saw it today!
It is utter crap!
Garbage with a capital Trash!
Worst movie of the year, without a doubt.
Supposed to be about Wolves, but not a sight of Nuno, or Neves, or any of them, just a mange ridden German Shepherd and some bloke from 20,000 years ago with designer clothes.
Rubbish
From now on i am replacing f with v. Happy bank hols to all.
And a Happy 85th birthday to Lord Twix of the Fix today!!!
Thanks druggie boy….. not quite the numbers but hey…
Happy birthday Mike!
I hope you’re suitably grateful that we arranged for possibly the best match at Molineux for years to be played specially for you on Saturday.
It took a lot of work behind the scenes you know. These things just don’t happen of their own accord.
Lotsaluv Mark & Sue xxx
Thanks Mark and Sue …. much appreciated… hope to see you soon … best wishes… Mike xx
Our Nuno who art at Molineux, hallowed be thy name.
Thy premier league come.
Thy will be done, on astro-turf as it is in Compton.
Give us each match day our daily Balti pie & a pint and forgive us our lauguage, as we can’t always forgive those who disrespect against us;
and lead us not into the Championship, but deliver us to the Champions League.
For the Prem will become our Kingdom, with the Pack & returned Glory,
For Neves & Ikeme
Ay We.
Proud to have football as my religion & The Mol as my church along with 30,000 disciples
In Nuno (& the WWFC Fam) we trust.
PS, any got any bubbles to take to West Ham ????? Pmsl
Brilliant mate!
That’s cheered me up a bit after yesterday’s experience.
Clutch went pop on the way home, we were towed to Michael Wood services by the AA and then, due to EEU rules which state that drivers can only operate within a 60 mile perimeter, spent 4 and a half hours waiting for another van to turn up.
Don’t recommend it. Michael Wood is a s**t hole.
Reminds me of sandwell.
Where’s your Wolves shirt Doog ???
Doog,
That’s a big dog shite after a great game.
Hope you’re bank holiday is full of sunshine, love & loads of beer.
ATB & UTW
Sorry to read this news mate.
At least the AA van was OldGold and Black…… was it Donchez Dacres btw….
Though we were, of course, also bemoaning our luck at Leicester last week, the City whinger on here would do well to take note of the gracious comments of their manager and captain.
As for the media, the things I’ve read and seen have been largely complimentary about Wolves, but the Sky analysis that we might have done well to buy some Premiership experience could be true (I’m writing from the angle of so many years’ disappointment that I am congenitally unable to believe what’s now happening or that we really will be mid table come the end of the season!!). Shearer reckoned we were brilliant.
And the handball/offside? Well, if it touched Doherty it was so marginal as to be unnoticeable and no-one on the Sky commentary or watching the TV saw the contact with Boly’s arm until they saw it from different angles in playback, so how could the ref be expected to? The general view was that Wolves deserved their point because they played their game and showed tactical, fighting, footballing qualities and weren’t intimidated by playing City. And any good luck just about balanced last week’s bad luck.
UTW.
If anyone wants to relive it, I managed to get a pretty decent Steve Bull’s eye view of Willy Boly’s hand job.

Offside?
Handball?
Quite frankly, who cares?
I see there’s a film going around the interweb of Sergio Aguero smoking a funny pipe thingy.
Could this explain why he kept falling over in the penalty box???
Last weekend, ex Liverpool player and fan Steve McManaman made a widely reported comment on TV saying that he didn’t like Wolves. I wonder if he’s changed his opinion now that Wolves did him and Liverpool a favour by brilliantly stopping title rivals Man City from gaining maximum points on Saturday?
What a plonker.
So what are the current rules? If he doesn’t do it intentionally, is it OK or is it still called back (the handball, not the offside)?
Having listened to and read such positive reaction in the media to Wolves performance against Man City are Wolves in danger of being other fans “second team”?
Leave you all with a few words from The Sex Pistols ‘Never Mind The Bollocks’ Problems. ‘PROBLEMS PROBLEMS PROBLEMS. WHAT YOU GONNA DO. YOU’RE THE PROBLEM.THE PROBLEM IS YOU’. Same now as it was in 1977.sad really. Adios.
Cheesy, you tart!
May I refer you to my reply to your reply to my post about the F word, which I posted after your latest post.
Well, if you can make any sense of that your a better man than me.
But just read it and be sensible.
Doog. I posted that last night in the pub watching Manure getting bashed by Spurs. I had a few beers. I take your point but clearly the puritanical Benny Hill brigade on here have a problem with it. Personally I like to add the odd bit of swearing in to my blogs as I think it adds to the humour. I probably went a bit OTT Saturday night but I had been on the beer all afternoon and was feeling great after we held City to a draw. Any way I have said what I want to say on the matter and move on. All the best COD.
Good man yerself!
We need a bit of humour on the blog, it can get a bit boring continually reading about the exploits of the men in Old Gold.
Did I just say that?
That is sad Chessie really enjoy your posts you are bang on this is 1977.
This is religion cheaply priced.
Vuck Um.
All the best mate.
Wolves Aye We
Thanks for the kind words mate. Appreciated
Cheesey if I’ve understood you correctly you are withdrawing from this Blog. Which would be a great shame.
Too many familiar voices have gone missing, including me, over non-footballing issues: use of the F word, inappropriate images, who are “true” supporters.
Guys and gals, when Wolves are giving us the best football most us can remember let’s stick together. I love this Blog and the variety of views and opinions held.
Remember, Wolves ay we!
Thanks for the comments mate. I am still here!
Great fighting result against one of the top teams in the world. The Boly goal was not a deliberate handball. It was ball to arm. We’re not talking Maradona here. Nevertheless on another day it would not have counted. Raul’s offside position was only inches but I heard that the last touch before Raul’s was a City player, therefore not offside.
The City equaliser from the free kick concerns me more. Sterling saw a leg outstretched and simply fell over it! A dive all day long! But, hardly anyone mentioned it. It is because a certain former Arsenal player has labelled criticism of Sterling (as a diver) being racist?
Hiya Dances … I spotted the slight deflection for Rauls offside goal and initially agreed with what you’ve posted.
However .. I looked up the rules regarding offside and deflections off an opponent… and as I understand it is only NOT offside if the defender actually passes it with intent to an opposing player … basically a deflection doesn’t fit this criteria.. and is therefore still classed as offside.
I know that’s a bummer of an answer. and initially I agreed with your assessment… don’t you just know it that the same will happen against us and some twat of a ref will give a goal…!
Lord Twix. I stand corrected but confused. Deflection = offside. Pass with intent = goal. How do you draw the line between a deflection and a pass? As you say, bummer of an answer. Of course some twat will give it against us when it’s the other way round.
Strange how the diving criticism of Sterling has all but disappeared after the racist banner was raised recently. It’s not as if he’s the only black player in the league. If the dive on Saturday was against a top club I think criticism would be back to normal and he would get slagged off.
