As the team that the Manic Street Preachers support were strolling to victory, a familiar song lyric entered my head.

‘If you tolerate this, then your children will be next.’
For the sake of my little boy’s happiness I should keep him away from Molineux from now on, scratch his name off a Billy Wright brick and tell him to be more like his mates.
With his Design for Life flawed, Jez Moxey will offer advice on my DNA, while the pitchside adverts will offer an early bird reminder.
The motorcycle emptiness will remain.
As we slid to the most predictable of our 17 defeats to date, the on-field malaise took secondary importance to a question I’ve been suppressing for months.
Namely, what will I do next season?
The fact I’m genuinely unable to justify another season ticket – irrespective of division – on grounds other than hereditary says more about the Morgan era than a 1,000 word letter to his Red Row head office.
With no enjoyment, entertainment or empathy associated with home games anymore, the tough times appear to have prevailed over 25 years of toughness.
It’s not that Dean Saunders’ decisions have prompted the soul searching either. (Pezsko omission apart)
Each decision he made today arrived with enough supporting evidence to justify.
Kevin Foley was disgusting on Tuesday night so he dropped him for Doherty.
Dave Edwards was equally pathetic so he dropped him too.
Sako has looked isolated out wide so he played him centrally.
Roger Johnson has been a consistent performer this season, so he brought him back too.
On paper, the 3-5-2 that followed looked plausible but in reality, it contributed to one of the worst first halves in memory.
The 0-1 scoreline wasn’t the depressing bit either. The disparity in quality was the killer, as if we were back in the Premier League dealing with a Newcastle or Tottenham.
Saunders replaced the pitiful Doumbia and the unfortunate Batth with Doyle and Ebanks-Blake at half time.
The reasons Saunders dropped them in the first place were soon underlined.
Doyle’s eye of the tiger belied deplorable positional instincts to ignore a great cross from Sigurdarson before heading like he was apologising.
After Ikeme made a hash of a Bellamy cross to allow Campbell to bag his second, we found a way back into the game through a deflected Sako free kick.
Minutes later and our only outlet ran 90 yards down the wing and crossed for Ebanks-Blake to tap home.
For a micro-second time stood still, as an elongated FA Cup memory scrolled through my mind.
The pause button released as Don Goodman whipped the ball into the path of a marauding David Kelly…
…His joyous diving header faded as Sylvan Ebanks Blake came back into focus, just in time to scuff apologetically over the bar.
Cue customary ‘why always me’ pose from the hopeless number 9, as Sako cut him the exact same look that Sylvan himself used to reserve for Andy Keogh.
If only Saunders’ obsessive after-match defiance could be replaced with some realism, he’d be earning more sympathy.
To say we should have been 2-up at half-time was just plain wrong.
To say that ‘Everything Must Go’ would have been more appropriate, if not painfully obvious.

Depressing isn’t it?
I’ll renew my season tricket as its something I do with my son. If it wasn’t for that I’d turn my back on them. I’ve been a season ticket holder for 20 years and this is the worst I’ve known it on and off the pitch.
4 5 1 then when we are losing Saunders goes 4 4 2 I have a little I say little sympathy with the players if you keep changing the formation, system 10 minutes or what ever during games, it hardly makes for a settled side. No Cassidy not even on the bench I hope he’s had words with Saunders because to me its by far the most frustrating misuse of talent in years. Saunders says he carnt afford a striker on loan yet we have a young and probably not now after the way he’s been treated, hungry in form or was that’s been benched out of him lad on the books won’t cost us money because we are paying him already and Saunders egnores him and his talent. It’s been proved over the last 6, 7 games that playing 4 5 1 is not going to get results we require so why is he sticking with it. A message to Cassidy get out mate as soon as you can get on to your agent to get you a club that will appreciate your blossoming talent I for one wouldn’t blame you one bit.
But we didn’t play 451?
3 5 11 Sako behind EBanks, still only 1 out and out striker 4 5 1, 2 7 1, 4 3 3 it makes no difference when you play with 1 lone striker in our situation your not going to win games.
Agree with all of the above Ben. I said to my mate at the game today, I understand why he tried 5 at the back, with the hope two energetic full backs would bomb forward. At least he changed it at halftime. Mick would have given it another 20 minutes.
His post match comments will turn people against him if he doesn’t stop talking such bollox. Just tweeted Froggy to have a word. We’ll stick with him if he is more honest in his assessment of games. He has inherited a horrendous mess and people sympathise with that.
I think we may just sneak out of it (maybe I’m in denial), if we just have a go at teams like we did in the second half today.
Siggy impressive again I thought.
I agree with the fact that Saunders can’t necessarily be blamed for results given the mess inherited. Another example of this is QPR. Harry Redknapp is widely considered an excellent manager, but he’s also inherited a terrible mess and despite the money they similarly look doomed.
IF, and I hope it doesn’t come to it, we are relegated, then I think a lot of our crap big earners would leave which in a way would be good. The club would then be able to get new blood, maybe not Premiership quality, but who cares as long as they want to play?
However there is still time to survive, and I dearly hope that we can bring in one or two new faces on loan.
Despite bad performances, a crumb of comfort is that at least Saunders has tried to remedy the defence which is a step in the right direction.
I think we’re stuck with the crap on high wages Ade. Who in their right mind would take them on?
Brilliant piece of writing again Ben.
I too face a similar dilemma for next year.
Do I continue to subject my 11 year old daughter to this, when she is becoming more interested in JLS and One Direction cos the entertainment is better ??
I bleed Gold and Black, but never having had a son to take I thought I could help bring on the next generation.
Morgan, Moxey and The Players are Killing that.
To be honest I really thought we could get something out of the game 2nd half. We should have done too had it not been for Blake’s effort. (Did he miss on purpose).
Cardiff didn’t trouble us much and I cannot put my finger on why the players are performing so poorly.
I was all for sacking Mick, in fact we should have done it sooner, but only if we were going to replace him with someone better.
3 managers later and we still haven’t done that..
I’m angry – never felt like this against my own team, ‘only’ supported them 20 years – I feel totally let down, never seen them this bad & it’s awful – don’t look forward to football at the moment. I used to hate the Albion, mainly just good old rivalry – now it’s just envy. Envious of the way they are run, the way they play – everything about is what I want for my club. However, all I have to look forward to on a Saturday are meaningless, effortless performances by unbothered, half arsed ‘professionals’, a manager who seems way out of his depth and senior club management who don’t have the bollocks to come out and tell people what’s really going on. Thanks Morgan, you prick (no, I don’t believe Moxey is that much to blame, he don’t sign the cheques, Morgan’s got eyes, he can what’s going on) you’ve ruined my club, ruined my weekends, really, ruined a big part of my life.
I dont think Dean Saunders is the way forward but it is Morgan and Moxey who must go into the dock. Considering the money that came into club in the summer they have failed to back there managers and let the fans down. Saunders saying he was struggling to find a loan deal he could afford is an absolute disgrace. They have made the Venky’s who funded the purchase of Jordan Rhodes look like master tacticians. I have tried not to just be a virtual reality boo boy but why should anyone renew there season ticket if they have anything better to do with precious free time.
And money petrol going up gas, electricity if you have kids there are 1000 more things worth spending your hard earned I said hard earned Moxey not that you would know about that there are no big bonus in the public sector no annual pay rise for 3 years could justify it up to now, no more
The club is in desperate need of capable leadership, but unfortunately I see none.
I see executives who just care about lining their pockets and their businesses, I see managers way out of their league, and I see players who have lost their will to fight and their camaraderie to play together.
I see a club who has lost its perspective and respect for the fans who pay their salaries. I see managers, owners and players alike who are too quick to point the finger of blame at one another but nobody ready to step up and be accountable for their actions and mistakes.
I hear way too many pointless words and speeches, and not enough results. I see performances that in any other job would have people fired, but here they get to do it over and over and worse.
The club has more than just lost its way. It’s grown a cancer that now runs so deep there can be no quick fix any more. The only thing to hope for at this stage is that by some miracle of miracles, the few left there who care can pull us out of the dooming relegation ahead by the skins of our teeth so we can then undergo major surgery in summer.
Mr Morgan, Mr Moxey, Mr Saunders, your ship is sinking! Enough drama! Enough excuses! Enough experiments! Get a grip! Your club is falling apart! This is no time for band-aids anymore. No time for crossing our fingers hoping things change. It’s time for cardio-vascular resuscitation. Time to pull out everything you have to stop the calamity of a second relegation.
What are you prepared to do to save this football club from disaster and restore its pride?
The fans are still here ready to support. Ready to follow the club.
LEAD IT!!!!!
Very well said.
Agree but I think it is too late.
It will be a miracle if we avoid relegation.
Good post up to the very last line, where LEAVE IT!!! might be even better than LEAD IT!!!
A quite brilliant summary of our predicament GoWolves, you have put my thoughts in words far better than I could. Having supported Wolves (home and away) for 42 years, this will be my last unless Morgan and Moxey are gone. I will no longer financially back people who are destroying what has been a big part of my life, it will not be easy to do but I feel it must be done. I can see only heartache ahead while these mercenaries are running our club and the bit that hurts and annoys me most is, as you so rightly said, they have no respect or basic understanding of their fans. To Morgan and Moxey we are all a cash cow to be milked dry of every penny, to be fed lies and excuses and then to have our loyalty questioned in a pathetic attempt to sell season tickets. To continue to financially support them would mean selling my conscience down the river and tearing away my self respect, both things that I would happily do if it helped my club. But rather than help, it would only aid our demise, every penny they get now is supporting Morgan’s rape of our club and I am not prepared to be a part of that.
Spot on Waggies LP! Nothing really more to say! It’s no use fannying around, Morgan and Moxey need to get out NOW!!!!!!!! Too much shit has been directed at us by THEM!!!! We need to protest and protest HARD!!!! Against those two and those two alone. The players are dumb asses. Irrelevant at this point in time, as absurd as that sounds. If we go down and Moxey and Morgan fVck off then RESULT – for me. We will find backers, I am sure! FOREVER WOLVES!!!!
I saw Lincoln play Barrow on Saturday with a mate who is an Imps fan.
It was a dismal game but preferable to going to Molineaux and driving back to Norwich feeling like sh**.
Miracle required. Like investment and support for Dean who looks out of his depth.
Miracle senior players to put in some effort.
Miracles don’t and won’t happen.
Dumb and Even Dumber your incompetence has come to fruition.
There is ONE reason and ONE reason only, for the position Wolverhampton Wanderers find themselves in at present. The ONE who sacked M Mc way too late; the ONE who turned down Steve Bruce; the ONE who put Terry Connor in charge; the ONE who sacked SS; the ONE who brought in DS,a manager totally inexperienced for the job in hand.Forget Jez Moxey,he just does what he is told to by his boss. The ONE reason is STEVE MORGAN. Just weigh up the above decisions and you wonder, really wonder how he has got where he has in the business world. If he had been as bad a decision-maker in his business dealings as he has at Wolves,he would have been in the bankruptcy courts years ago and would now be on the streets. I just hope when we are relegated, someone sees an opportunity and buys him out. He,alone has very nearly ruined this famous club. The sooner he leaves the patch, the better.
totally spot on trenchcoat…i said before that my old man (baggie fan) said morgan was the wrong man and would ruin the club….that was just after he robbed sir jack! a football prophet? HE DOESNT CARE ABOUT WOLVERHAMPTON OR THE PEOPLE!
See my note to Waggies LP. You are right, Morgan’s got to go. No two ways. Anyone who thinks he has Wolves at heart is seriously deluded or misguided. With Morgan goes Moxey. After they have gone – I’m sure happy times will be back for the OLD GOLD AND BLACK. Just wish Sir Jack had better foresight back in 2007!
Thought Saunders selection was brave.
At least he left out some of the losers.
I had a choice at about two this afternoon, go out for lunch, or listen to the game.
At 2.20 p.m. I went out.
In my heart of hearts I really hope we avoid relegation.
However, realistically, I cannot see us winning a game, before the end of the season.
The time when we should have changed was after our penultimate season in the Premiership.
That summer Morgan should have thanked Mick, sacked him, and financially backed a new manager.
This would have meant not building the ‘new’ stand I think and Morgan chose the latter.
The best thing about Wolves at the moment is this blog.
I will look forward to the remainder of your reports Ben and Tom, for this season & next ,at obscure places on the map.
Guess, like many fellow Wolves fans, I must distance myself from the chaos, to not get too emotional about it.
Que sera, sera….
We ain’t going to Wembley!
I am behind the team, but as I see loss after loss coming in on the web over here it’s hard to get enthusiastic.
I used to look forward to the opportunity to go and see them on my occasional visits back to the UK, but frankly now I don’t think I would go. Hardly value for money is it?
Every week Thomas and Ben write about poor personal performances, out of form players, and individual mistakes.
WHY don’t more of these losers get dropped and the kids get a game?
I would be so pleased to see 5 or 6 youngsters like Cassidy and Zeli on the team-sheet, and I’m pretty sure they would give it more of a go than many of the ‘first team.’
Great post as usual Ben. On the Manic’s theme, how about some roses in the hospital for Morgan and Moxey; should anything nasty happen to them!
Wouldn’t blame you at all for not renewing next season. I wouldn’t pay to watch that shit myself.
As long as we’ve still got our blog i’ll be happy.
Haven’t seen the Blake miss yet. Was it really that bad?
Just seen it. To be honest, i think that was a bit unlucky. It was coming in at pace and bounced a surprising amount. I know many will disagree.
Nothing unlucky about the defending for their two goals though. Pathetic attempt to intercept by Ikeme for the first. And the second, well. Two go for the same header while the bloke who should have been marking the goal scorer stands in front of him(instead of goal side), ball watching. These blokes don’t do anything else all week except practice playing football and they don’t know the basics of defending i learnt at junior school. It’s pathetic and beyond belief.
poetry ben mate – just wish it wasnt depressing poetry. why buy a season ticket mr morgan ? do you have a couple of days..cos thats just for starters! i wouldnt want to predict next season either cos we COULD just keep falling…how the heck have you YOU YOU allowed this to happen mr morgan. doesnt matter what you do now ..we are finished! just need to decide what part of the stadium to buy in case i forget just what a great part of my life wolves were.
I can’t even be bothered anymore the only way forward i see at the moment is a total rebuild from top to bottom…..only a few would survive the cull…..that’s if they’ve got the balls for the fight in the nether regions of league 1.
I can’t even say i’d rather be down Stafford Rangers cos in my heart of hearts it Wolves and always will be even though my HEART IS BREAKING after every result!
Nevermind the Manic Street Preachers (Amazing band BTW) all i can see is
The Sex Pistols – No Future :- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaHhxRGYjFA

As I’ve said on here before, totally agree with the stick afforded to M & M but a few comments on purely football matters. Although seemingly way out of his depth, Saunders should and I think probably will scrape us out of this fuckin mess. There were some positive signs yesterday and remember we were playing a team streets ahead at the top of the league. Playing 3 centre halves from the start was utter lunacy. I’ve had a few debates with people on here about formations but virtually all defenders at professional level have spent their entire careers playing in a back 4. To expect them to slot effortlessly into a 3 centre half system against the league leaders was madness. They looked lost, as did the rest of the team without any attacking width. Glimmers of hope are that the two young full backs looked no worse than Ward and Foley and I’d happily see Johnson or Batth playing alongside Gorkss. From the second half display, the first two names on my team sheet would be Siggy and Sako wide right and left. Henry and O’Hara are left by default in the middle (Doumbia was shocking). Despite his miss Blake will score goals, I’d just like to see Cassidy given a chance up there with him because Doyle goes from bad to worse. We really should have a team strong enough to stay up there. Whether DS can use it wisely enough I don’t know but I fuckin hope so. I reckon Watford will turn us over but after that this shower really ought to start rolling some teams over. Have some faith because fuck knows we need it right now. Then bring on the summer and time for revolution, starting at the top!
What can I say carl??? read most of the blogs on here and you hit the nail on the head with two comments:
1, I reckon Watford will turn us over but after that this shower really ought to start rolling some teams over
2, Have some faith because fuck knows we need it right now. Then bring on the summer and time for revolution, starting at the top!
I really did not think I would be agreeing with these wise words 8 months ago. What a fakin joke we are
For goodness sake stop worrying everybody!
Good news from Molineux.
Deån says:-
“The Chairman has given me the OK to bring in another player. That may happen Monday or Tuesday”.
Apparently he’s been in contact with Melchester Rovers….
Some chap called ‘Roy’ I think.
In a way, I hate that Siggy has been our best player for 2 games running. Mainly as I’ve been clamouring on about him being a match winner all season and I really wish he’d been given a chance sooner (save for injuries etc.). Unfortunately it looks like him and Sako are going to have to try and win games all on their own.
I didn’t really expect much against Cardiff being where they are in the league. I’m glad Dean tried something different, I’m annoyed it didn’t work, I’m not really surprised it didn’t work and to be honest I don’t think anything he could have done would have worked…
We move on. Again.
We got thrashed by number one this weekend. Next weekend it’s number two. Which, ironically, is what our team seems to have turned into.
League One is calling…
In his interview DS states “I want to put things right for him (Morgan) and for Jez Moxey and for the supporters.”
Unfortunately they are not the same things, we want a football team, and they want large cash pay outs…
I would have appreciated this comment more if the “supporters” had come before M&M.
And therein lies the story of the season…
Ben,
You should not inflict a lifetime of supporting Wolves on your son. The world has moved on since we chose our team to follow. To cope with the heartache of losing and relegation, there has to be an upside of winning matches and trophies. Wolves might do the former occasionally but they will never, in your child’s lifetime, do the latter.
20 years ago I said that if we have children they have to support the wolves otherwise they don’t live here. I wouldn’t do that now.
Let your son chose his own team. Don’t restrict it to England. Don’t worry about going to matches. There is so much Football on TV; Grounds are ½ full anyway these days, the atmosphere has gone. Make sure he picks a top side – Bayern Munich; Real Madrid; Juventus. Teams he can see winning almost every week and likely to win trophies. Flights and tickets occasionally each season will be exciting just for the trip and for the major likelihood that you will see skilled football and a win.
As for yourself, Wolves are costing you a lot of cash and a lot of time. Save the cash; spend it on your son; do something you both know you will enjoy. You will still heartache about Wolves; you’ll still love them just as much; you’ll still celebrate when they win. You’ll get used to not going. And it won’t make a blind bit of difference to whether they lose or not.
I know you fairly well Ben. You’ve made a wise choice already mate so stick to it. In many years to come your lad will thank you for giving him Wolves and you’ll always be able to share it. He’ll never be one of these glory hunting mother fuckers that we all hated at school and still look down upon even though in the footballing world they might be above us.
Never mind picking a top team, why not start locally. There’s some cracking football around the Black Country every week.I went to watch Tipton v Tividale(Midland Football Alliance) on Saturday. It was a bloody belting game between two sides playing excellent football.West Midlands League is also a very high standard.I stopped watching the Pro game 3 years ago and don’t regret it one bit.
With so much money in the bank, it is possible to make some important additions on loan. There must be some unused Premiership striker at a loss of what to do on a Saturday.
Yeah, Campbell springs to mind – oh no – he went to Cardiff didn’t he 🙁
On the playing side just a few observations –
Doumbia is clearly very homesick. Do the humane thing and agree to terminate his contract so he can go home.
Johnson is a bluenose who wants us relegated. Don’t allow him anywhere near the club again.
Robinson is no better than ward. Keep him if you must but it hasn’t stopped the defence letting in goals. Saunders with ward 6 goals in 6 games; with robinson 3 goals in 2.
Batth is a good player for league 1. Let him play for the rest of the season ready for next year.
Cassidy is a decent player for Div1. Let him play too. He WONT save us.
Sigurdsson is a centre forward – the best we’ve got. Play him as such.
Peszko is an attacking right winger. Play him there.
Sako is a good Championship player. Keep him in the side.
Henry, and SEB are past it. Don’t play them again.
Doyle is no good and never has been. Can’t score. Averages 1 goal in 5 games. Don’t pick him again.
O hara is nowhere near the player he thinks he is. I’d offload him if we can.
SEB’s deliberate miss yesterday (how else could it be explained ?) indicates how much this squad hates the club and supporters. They have clearly had some kind of joke bet about how quickly they can get Saunders removed. I wonder who won the Solbakken bet ?
As for DS – does anyone get the impression he plays FM ? When I’ve lost 4 or 5 in a row, I start playing strange formations and players in strange positions. It never works. He’ll ask the assistant manager to pick the team next !!
Towards the end of Wolves most recent first season back in the Prem, as Early Bird approached I decided against renewing my season ticket. It was with a heavy heart but I knew then that was as good as it was going to get. It gives me no satisfaction to be proved right – and I had no idea just how bad it was going to become.
It seems hopeless right now and a dismal future ahead for all who love The Wolves. Just one glimmer of hope – Swansea were in a worst place ten years ago when Swansea people seized the reins. When Morgan finally returns to Merseyside and casts Wolves aside there may just be an opportunity for local people to follow Swansea’s example, returning Wolves to the supporters and planning for a better future. Go away Morgan – give us our club back – we’ll pay you a tenner for it.
Cotswold,I can echo your sentiments. When M Mc came in I thought ‘here we go ‘ and the first 18 months or so it was good. Then the enjoyment started to go;then the boredom set in with me sat there in the B W stand thinking ‘FFS Mick, make them entertain us’. Then we were in the Prem and that was when I really started to lose interest.Apart from the odd match here and there, the time spent in the Prem was shit. After two seasons I thought ‘bollocks to this,I aint paying £500 to watch this bloody rubbish’ and I didn’t renew.Non-League is now my preference and I wont be going back. I started watching Wolves in 1961 and they have always been my team and always will be.It’s just the fact I go to a match to be entertained and Non-League gives me that.
Steve Morgan-i don’t hate you and thank you for your investment, but if you develop homes like you develop a football team, then you would have been broke years ago. Most rich people buy football teams as an exstension of their ego, their heart rules their head, they think it doesn;t but it does. They associate the club as part of themselves, and therefore, treat it in a subjective, rather than an objective way. This leads to poor decision making. Indeed, an anology that has just come to mind is that of a Baron, master of all he surveys, with serfs to do his bid and call. We all need someone in life to bring us to earth. Even Caesar had some one behind him to whisper, ‘thou art mortal.’
Examples of poor decision making are appointing a mate as a manager, of course that always works! Employ a mate to fit your kitchen and when it goes wrong you feel uncomfortable making a tough decision. There has been a Failure to appoint an hard nosed director of football, a buffer between you and the players. It seems to have become all to comfortable there, for players and support staff and it needs a shake up- which is an understatement!
I believe Steve Morgan cares about Wolves, indeed few owners would talk to the fans directly like he has in the past with tears in his eyes, however, you need to make some tough decisions now! Today!! You have to accept that despite your merits running a football club as not been a positive on your CV. You need to appoint a director of football to do it. You need to sack Dean Saunders and compensate him. It’s not his fault but there is now a much better manager in Nigel Adkins on the market. Give Dean the cover of resigning due to differences, like McCleish.Lose face for a mate, we have all done it. You have to accept we are going to be relegated ( we have one of the worse, if not the worst win ratios in the European professional leagues and bookies make us on odds on favourites to go down- anfd they are seldom wrong!) and plan accordingly, because we are not too big to go into League two, let alone one.
It’s sad, but this seems to me the inevitable result. We will lose Doyle, sako, Johnson, Boukari a et al. Give Nigel adkins a good wage and transfer money to get us out of it.
Agree with all you say .. we’ve had some knee jerk managers in days gone by .. appointed on DID WELL IN THEIR PREVIOUS JOB scenario (Mark McGhee, Graham Taylor and others) but yes ATKINS ticks the boxes with his bullish and dynamic style .. still cant understand wyu Saints got shot of him !!
remarkably Paddy Power will give you 6/4 against Wolves being relegated. Lump on – the players are !!!
Fantastic report Ben .. I have to say the your lad seemed downcast by it all too. Many thousands of supporters must be mulling the SHALL I / SHAN’T I question… me included, on whether to renew our season ticket. In 55 years of following me babbies I have never been so torn about it.
I’m annoyed at Moxey for imposing his 11 Mar deadline to pressurize the faithful.
How anyone can financially justify £470 to watch DIV 1 football next year is mind boggling ..
Lets face we will sell our better players and top earners again (after renewal date) despite promises that “we dont have to” bollox. and AGAIN we will have been misled by MOXEY .. just as we were last year!
Mark my words, as someone has previosly commented .. we will be heading for administration when we go down (with our current cost base) and I’m NOT prepared to invest in more MOXEY failures or MORGANS housebuilding programme ..
At the start of the season I was abused by wolves supporters for suggesting that Nottingham Forest could make the playoffs and Wolves may struggle around mid table. The response I received on you tube was thousands of comments calling me an idiot, and saying that Wolves would destroy the league. Welcome to the Npower Championship Wolverhampton! Good luck in League 1 next year I think your going to need it.
Thanks for that Peter.
Would it not have been more appropriate to leave a comment on YouTube, where your story has context?
This just makes you look as petty as those very Wolves supporters you criticise.
p.s. YouTube is a troll’s dream house so if you’re thin-skinned, I’d give it a swerve.
Thomas,
[THIS SECTION OF THE COMMENT HAS BEEN MODERATED]
Your words were deliverd with such passion that I for one believe you would make a good Orator. In fact if you add a top hat to that picture you would look like the greatest orator of all times “Abraham Lincoln”.
Let me contextuliase for you;
“Foreskin and seven seasons ago your owners brought forth upon the fans an ill conceived idea, dedicated to the proposition that all teams are created equal.
Now Wolves are engaged in a relegation battle, testing whether that team so conceived and apparently underperforming can endure.
It is for you the fans, to be dedicated to the unfinished work that the players have thus far been unable to carry out. Sadly rather than being dedicated to the great task before you, the fans blow over like tea cosies in the softest wind of bowel movements.
For a team that has tried in vain, to punch above its weight, under Sun, Wind and Rain, will have a new place in League One, and remain there until you unite with one team, of the people, by the people and for the people.”
Very poor form there, Peter. Your ad hominem attack was disgraceful and totally unnecessary. I am guessing you “liked” your own comment. Can’t imagine too many others here would be with you after your first paragraph.
I hope you can find the fortitude to apologise.
Amazingly pathetic and incredibly childish remark. Mind you, you’re english is extremely good for someone presumably still in short trousers.
If you were hoping to upset Thomas with such infantile nonsense you can forget it. He’s a bit too mature for that little boy.
Thanks guys but don’t worry, I’ve got a thick skin (mainly around my chin it would seem).
His comment was actually quite funny in pseudo-intellectual, I’ve been to the cinema recently, sort of way.
I’ve moderated the first line though for obvious reasons.
It’s surprising we don’t get more WUMs on here, given how easy it is for anyone to add a comment.
Dear Peter.
Please write out 100 times:-
“If I use big words in blogs to try and make clever points I must learn to spell them properly”.
PS. If you can find the one you misspelt you will be half way to making sure you don’t do it again.
Pete you sound well and truly stewed in your own juice mate. I should get out more even if its only down the shitty trees.
It’s great when were winning , we even pick up new ‘fans’. Start losing and the lifeboats are out and the ‘fans’ start jumping ship.
I am beginning to wonder just how much some people on here ‘love’ Wolves. I suspect a lot of fair-weather fans rather than true fans who get behind the team whatever the position they are in.
Blaming Morgan & Moxey is easy but then I suspect not many here are forking out £731,000 per week on wages.
When you love something and things are going wrong you don’t just fall out and leave them in the lurch , let them go their way or do you?
I guess ‘fans’ these days are different to what I was used to. They no longer applaud when the opposing team score a great goal, they boo them instead.
They boo the home team if they don’t win, they boo people because it’s easy to follow the other knobs who do, they boo people because they hear it on the tv and think its great.
I doubt there is nobody more disapointed here than me and it hurts a damn lot but that will not stop me supporting the Wolves.
Take the easy way out – go ‘support’ ManU and wallow in the glory…………
To blame the fat man is not showing disloyalty, this man has made several extremely well versed errors of judgment. He is there to advise the owner and develop a strategy that delivers profit and success, he has failed so must go. Im bored with repeating but here goes again, players with little or no contract left either looking else where or demotivated, sacking a manager and not having a replacement, bringing in a manager with a completely different ethos not backing him and being surprised that we didn adopt a continental style with work horses, bringing in a chest beater who has no experience of this level of club at a time of crisis, when previously (before employing a coach with no experience) saying this job is not for a novice. Now he is left reducing the wage bill as our turnover will soon be below the players wages…
In any other walk of life the CEO would be off enjoying the millions he has taken from the club while we employ a football savy man to gradually address this circus..
Oh #SACK THE FAT MAN
I agree with your main point. We do seem to have a lot of ‘ready to abuse others’ fans. When we have been doing well, they like to berate the opposition, when doing badly, abuse our own players and all levels of management (often with the most outrageous, unsupported comments).
The football has not really been enjoyable to watch at Molineux since the end of McCarthy’s first season, even the promotion season had long ‘dire’ patches.
Venting spleens, letting the bile come out and calling for heads to roll does not help put things right. It just makes the self-indulgent briefly feel better.
Dean Saunders IS doing some of the things many of us wanted (changing the defence and looking for a goalscorer), even if some of his post-match comments are a little myopic. Let’s carry on the work and get that creative midfielder and effective striker! Always Wolves!
Sevlow,
I was just very very sad today but your comments have just made me very angry too. I’m sick of people trying to tell me that they are so much more of a supporter than I am. Noone on here is going to jump ship and support man utd. But ask yourself this if you were 7 years old again and were picking a team to support , would you pick Wolves ? Or did you pick wolves in the late 50’s when they were a man utd ? or maybe in the 70’s in McGarry’s era of success?
I love my wife but it don’t stop me critising her cooking. And I’ve stuck with her for 40 years too.
What does someone have to do to match your love of the club? Hand over all their Salary ? Say nothing as they terminally decline. ? Please let me know.
And just for the record I still clap a good opposition goal or move. It don’t make me popular but I do it anyway. It still doesn’t change the fact that the definition of a good game is that Wolves won.
I love this team so much it hurts. I feel like I’m watching a close relative dying in a home. The doctor keeps telling me they’ll get better soon as I see the life fading away. The nurses are mistreating her but I can’t do anything about it. And her closer relations just sit there waiting for her to die and hand over the last of her money.
DONT TELL ME I DONT LOVE THIS CLUB
Well said Pfredr, Pfder, Pedfr…..Well anyway, very well said.
I bet you didn’t get booked very often!
then why would you tell your son to go hunt for glory?
because you only get one life and you only get to pick your team once – when you are about seven
You have to pick one that might win something otherwise what’s the point in following a team at all ?
20 years ago you could follow your dads team (or any team really) and they could make it right to the top. So you encouraged your kids to carry it on from generation to generation. Not any more. The top 5 clubs will win the premiership for ever. If you are 7 years old now it makes sense to pick one of these clubs or a top european one that you can see on the TV all the time. Chances are these top european teams will have their own league within 20 years anyway.
There should have been a separate European league for the very big clubs a few years ago in my opinion.
The premiership is now a league where only a small minority have any chance of winning it. Their second teams would comfortably survive in the top league.
And it’s not just the league. The top few even dominate the FA CUP as well and even the league cup a lot of the time, even though they treat the whole competition like a joke.
If any of the smaller clubs unearth a gem he’s immediately snaffled up by the big boys.
A European league would be brilliant to watch, supporting the English teams against the rest, and the rest could compete in a national league on a level playing field where wages and transfers would be far more realistic.
These new rules they are bringing in on spending limitations are supposed to make it all fairer but i bet the big boys find a way round them and nothing will really change.
A wage cap would help level the playing field.
As it stands you are right – the same teams will win year in, year out. In this country it’s probably 3 rather than 5, in Spain 2, in Scotland 1, Croatia 1and so on.
Having said that I’d happily settle for mid table mediocrity in the prem and a cup run instead of where we are at the moment.
Sad to say I doubt many kids, given the choice, would chose to support Wolves today. Like you say – we have one choice and if I had it over again I’d still choose Wolves. Pferde sums up beautifully how most of us feel.
Sevlow .. I respect you for your opinion BUT dont suggest that I should jump ship and support ManU!
You quote some unusual stats .. weekly wage bill .. to give balance you should have included the WEEKLY income of around £1.300 million .. you should also have included MOXEY’s annual ave salary of £1.20 million.. He gets very well paid and for that income I for one expect a better contribution to the moving in the right direction responsibility that the CEO has. Didnt he say last year that we should remember where we have come from when we left the PREM .. I cant remember it being from DIV 1 !!
How long have you been a STH? .. assuming that you are.
How long have you been going to matches?
Do you go on your own or is your love of WWFC a family thing?
As I say I respect your opinion BUT I am of the opinion that on this occasion you are seriously presumtious about my and a good many others feelings that we have for our beloved club.
The Painful Truth Son
Yesterday I went with my son who like most children aged 9 follows the premiership elite.
As half time approached the questions and comments started from my 9 year old: This is the 4th time I have been made to come here with you dad, Why do you support such rubbish dad? Why don’t they tackle? Why don’t they shoot? Why don’t they look as good as the other team? Don’t you think it’s a waste of money coming here every week? And the final question can we leave at half time I am so bored of this.
The questions I replied to have been echoing in my head in my head since and overnight I have analysed each question, if you have read this far on my blog, please continue reading and see if you feel like me:
I support this team as I have supported them for 35 years, through thick and thin and its far better to support your local team than follow the glory hunters – The truth is I don’t know why I keep subjecting myself to such misery. I spend hard earned money watching players who earn more in 2 weeks than I do a year. The players, the owners don’t care about me (us) the loyal supporters they are here for the profits nothing else and for me no more. You’re not having another penny from me or my son. I will spend my season ticket money enjoying my afternoons elsewhere,
They don’t tackle or shoot son because they are not interested. They are here for the money, the club means nothing to them and that’s the bottom line.
I have never left a game early before and I never will. The difference being now son we won’t be here again unless things change.
I wanted my son to follow in his dad’s footsteps and support the gold and black, with a heavy heart I actually can’t blame him for looking and supporting elsewhere, I don’t blame him for not wanting to go to Wolves. Mr Morgan & Mr Moxey don’t you realise what you’re doing to our club? We the loyal supporters for many many years are dying bread, the youngsters will support other clubs, such as, dare I say the Baggies, who would blame them.
This has been the darkest 24 hours of my supporting career; I will not let this club ruin my life anymore. My season ticket is now in the bin, not to be used again this season, not to be renewed for next year. Mr Morgan and Moxey I am just one of thousands who cannot take anymore I will reside myself to be an armchair fan and not cross your palms with 40 pieces of silver again.
Don’t let your son support the baggies. They won’t win anything either and could easily be where we are in a few years time. He needs a team that wins things occasionally and wins matches often. There are 5 teams to pick from at the top of the premier and many teams in europe. It will be less painful for you if he supports a european team. You can take an interest yourself then without feeling like you are comitting adultery.
If you insist on a local team then it has to be Villa. Even at their lowest ebbs they are still the most consistent West Midlands side. And they are lucky. They won’t go down. They rarely do.
Thanks for the advise, sadly he is following the red half of Manchester. Typical kid of today but as for reasons said he is not following in his fathers . I hope you listening Mr Morgan???????? another fan lost thanks to your running of the club…
Every game we have played under Saunders we have either drawn or lost 2-1. After the majority of games it has been said we have played the best football and had the best half under Saunders, but we draw or lose. This is a fine line, unfortunately we are always the wrong side of it. I really wish we were the opposite side – winning or drawing.
I’m really hoping Saunders and the players turn it round, but the problem is that they dont believe in themselves that they can, they have no confidence, and with games running out its looking more unlikely that we can turn the corner, I mean we havent so far, so would would that change now? With other teams around us winning and having games in hand on us adds to the negative outlook.
I will always support Wolves, but for once, after nearly 2 decades of being a season ticket holder, I think I’ll pass on the Early Bird and my money will stay in my pocket as I’m paying to watch football and be entertained, and unfortunately the club isn’t delivering and I’m sure Moxey won’t give me a refund. If relegation does occur, I hope the club will have some sense and reduce the ticket prices further, but I serioulsy doubt it as it would be unfair on those few who have taken up the Early Bird, but I live in hope.
Is this what Dean meant by’tinkering’ ?
Last week he snatched defeat out of victory by changing to a defensive formation when we were one up, and this time he set up a strong defensive formation, inviting a team ‘with two premier League strikers’ to attack. Why didn’t he leave Siggy in the middl in the second half – and why not play a real winger in Peszco ?
Still, we do seem to have the makings of a much improved set of players, but maybe too late for survival this season. Watford seem unbeatable at present for a start……….
It’s looking like 51 points may be enough to stay up. The problem we have is where are the 5 wins coming from? I predicted last week that we would be bottom of the league come 5pm next Saturday. It is going to take a monumental effort. 5 wins from 12 games compared to 9 in 34. There is hope following the second half performance against Cardiff but we really do need to win 2 of the next 3 or 4 if we are to have any chance. That would take us to 41 points with 8 remaining. Ten points would then be required. On the bright side, we can still chant ‘We Hate Albion’ next season, unfortunately it will be BURTON.
I think we will win on Friday. Suddenly all the deadlegs will become decent footballers again. On TV see. Lots of (premiership) managers watching wondering how Wolves could be so bad. Play well; get noticed; get picked up cheap when Wolves go down.
It’ll be a one off though. They won’t win 5 in 12.
I see DS has noticed we need 5 from 12 (he had said 6 from 13); and he’s worked out that there are enough matches left. He’s no fool you know. Mind you he said we had too many players; now he’s borrowed 2 more (with one to come) and we’re still losing.
Like so many others on this splendid Blog, I can find plenty to do with my Saturdays, and plenty to spend the season ticket money on without driving two hours over to watch absolute bollucks. It was bad enough getting relegated from the prem last year, the catastrophe this year has been brought on by the owner and inept CEO, the facts speak for themselves.
Whether we stay up or not – frankly I don`t care now, I shall wait a couple of years until I`m 65, then choose to watch matches I may be interested in. I`ll always be a Wolves fan, but do`nt need to watch them, or buy another season ticket, might get my golf clubs out, not really used them since our promotion year.
Moxey really believes a big discount will keep the early bird numbers up – the very thought is an insult to real fans, who have had to put up with his bullshit for so many seasons.
So sadly true.
I will always be a Wolves supporter, so will my wife. Had two daughters who took a passinng interest but have 3 Grandsons here in the USA. Have bought them all the kit spend a fortune on them, taken them to games when in the UK, but they can not get into abject failure. Mr morgan had the chance to build Global goodwill and support. What has he done, made kids who were ready made fans turn their back. As we fade away how many will replace us????
My eldest grandson wanted a soccer shirt for Xmas, qquietly asked my wife to get him a Man U one but dont tell Grandpa. What could i say when his Mom told me he had said its just not much fune supporting Wolves but i dodnt want to upset grandpa.
Morgan either fire moxey or F off yourself. Can you not understand the damage.
I’ve just seen the goal Leigh Griffiths scored for Hibernian on Saturday (check it out on the BBC website). Amazing, absolute class. Doubt if Kevin Doyle could actually kick it that far.
Yet another example of a failure with us(didn’t get a chance anyway) who’s actually a real talent.
Yes Martin – I saw that earlier.
Just a pity that he’s:-
a) A complete arse.
And
b) Not interested in playing for Wolves.
I agree Doog, he is an arse and not somebody i would like to spend time with. However, i WOULD like to see him scoring goals like that in a Wolves shirt which he should be doing as he’s our player.
Good managers can guide young hotheads like him in the right direction, not just give up on them. And to be honest, he was never given any real chance at Wolves, joining a whole list of others who went on to become very good players at other clubs. The likes of Jason Roberts, Keith Andrews, Mark Davies spring to mind.
So i can’t blame him for wanting away. All part of the terrible mismanagement of our club in my opinion.
Yep!
No arguments there.
Have a look at this site.

re the post on 24 Feb at 22:58:37
Mills Wolf has done some research on Stoke while Moxey was there. It makes very interesting and familiar reading.
Most interesting part is where it says that the owner, very unpopular during Moxey’s day, was worshipped post Moxey.
Oh my fucking god. Brilliant piece – As the song goes there may be trouble ahead. It’s obvious the cancer that eats away at our beloved Wolves is that odeous fat slug. Maybe it’s time that SM brings in a Football man and amputate that cretinous Stoke reject. Sorry for these angry fingers.
Thanks for the Link Nemo.
Its reading about Wolves all over again only this happened in Moxey’s last post.
How on earth did he even get considered for the job at Wolves after that ?
Wonder if Morgan has read it ?
Its amazes me that people still think Moxey does a good job ?
People keep saying you shouldn’t overspend in the prem and pay top money for wages because we will end up “doing a Portsmouth”
Well Guess What we are “doing a Portsmouth” anyway
Brilliant Nemo. Everybody on here please ring this link. Moxey’s days must be numbered.
Fans parliament on weds @ 7:30 – surely worth posing some Q’s through members? It’s been announced that Morgan will be there…. We’ve all got some questions right? And they ‘say’ that there but vetted either… Well if you believe that….
Bloody phone I meant ‘they won’t be vetted’ !!
Spot on Ben as is most of the comments by everyone else, but dont lose the faith, we will turn the corner once Saunders has the balls to drop the following for the rest of the season ;
Doyle, Ebanks, Ward, Doyle, Henry, Doumbia and Edwards.
He also has to have the balls to replace them with the kids and loan players. 5 of the above played Sunday and each of them are out of sorts for one reason or another.
COME ON ME BABIES
I have figured out what to do lads, we need to leave the game early as this Coventry fan did, it may be the only way to get out of this mess….we will miss the goals obviously but it might just work???

UTW!!
There is an acrid stench eminating from the once hallowed halls of Molineux, it smells of apathy, greed, disloyalty topped up with a great big serving of self righteousness. It weighs heavy on the very foundations that have supported this great club of ours for over 100 years. Foundations based on loyalty, pride, passion and commitment. They are what distinguishes a good football club from a great one. Once the rot has taken hold these foundations will fail along with our club. We might not own the club on paper but we are certainly not helpless in guiding the club back on to the path of success. There is a fans forum on Wednesday which will be attended by our owner MM, an ideal opportunity to vent your spleen and on Friday a demonstration is being organised before and after the game outside the ground in front of Sky tv. It’s time for peaceful action, it’s time to be heard, it’s time to show how much this club means to us all before we run out of TIME.
were is the forum being held , also can anyone attend,?
7.30 to 9.30pm at the Ground, look on the wolves site, you can tweet or Facebook questions if you are not able to attend and follow proceedings as they happen.
The Boardroom Howlers
Beware the Ides of March! Mollhillnew’s luvies take to the stage …All Howl Caesar!
The scene: Groundhog day in the boardroom. Mollhillnew Owner Navvy, sits totally dejected, looking wistfully looking at an old map of Liverpool FC ground. CEO Roxey – seemingly oblivious to the air of abject depression in the room – comes in looking at his weekly pay check with a big smile on his face and once again singing…
Roxey: (singing)…Flying across the country, And getting fat, Saying everything is groovy, when my tyres are flat…ooh ahh…
Navvy: You’r ehappy Roxey.
Roxey:: Yep! Who wouldn’t be?! It’s pay week, AND the players have given me a big surprise!
Navvy: A surprise! Ad what would that be pray tell Roxey…have they figured out what the white posts on the big rectangle of grass are for?
Roxey: Nope! But the players have decided to stage a production of Shakespeare’s famous play, Julius Caesar!
Navvy: (Groaning) A play!
Roxey: Yes boss – the old guard reckon they’ve had no luck trying to act like professional footballers on a football pitch all season-so they’re taking their act to the theatre stage!. And guess what?
Navvy: (Now with his head in his hands) What?
Roxey: The players have asked ME to play the lead role of Caesar! Good choice eh? What, Caesar being a powerful and glorious leader and me being a powerful and glorious Chief executive Officer – you can see why I got the part can’t you?
Navvy: Er… no…, I don’t.
Roxey: (sounding a little disgruntled) Well anyway, even Beano’s getting in on the act – he’s going to play the part of a bloke called Cinna or some thing.
Navvy: I dunno Roxey – this sounds like its going to cost a bomb to stage!
Moxey: No problem there boss! That big new shed we built at the end of the ground is gonna be virtually empty by the end of the season! AND the ‘old guard’ players reckon they’ve been already rehearsing the play all year – very successfully in several cases – even that bald Danish bloke was in it for a while but left for some reason – there’s no need for rehearsals!
Navvy: (Scatching his head) That bald Danish bloke – bah! Apart from getting in some of the best players we’ve got and winning some games what did he ever do for us?! Anyway how come I haven’t seen any plays being staged at Molehillnew?
Roxey: Dunno boss…but anyway, this play is meant to be a ‘tragedy’ or something…
Navvy: (suddenly brightening up, a sly glint coming to his eye) Ah, by the way, who is playing the part of Brutus in this play?
Roxy: Brutus – who’s he?
Navvy: (Raising his hand theatrically into the air) Ahh…well… Just tell the old guard I will play the part of Brutus in their production Roxey!
Roxey: That’s the spirit boss! It’s going to be great… (clearing his throat)…’Friends, Molehillnew supporters and bricklayers give me your money.’..I mean ‘lend me your ears’.
Navvy:Errh Caesar’s character doesn’t actually say those lines in the play…
Roxey: Oh really! Oh well… So what exactly happens to Caesar in the play boss?
Navvy: Well lets just say erhh…things get worse for Caesar before they get…um, erh…just pass me that paper knife on my desk will you Roxev,
Roxey: Your paper knife?
Navvy: Yes, I need to rehearse!
Well done Ben again great post.Just read all the posts on the blog, some great posts by the fans.
Can’t add anything to whats already been said, but with the parliament coming up this wednesday evening just wondering if you or Thomas are invited, because we need someone accredited to ask the questions we ALL want answers to.
You can imagine the scenario with the panel asking the questions to morgan then moxey answering them all with the spin we’ve all come accustomed to.
Worrying times ahead can’t think of us in div 1 so some serious questions to asked and answers without the spin.UTW.
So many hours spent reading the comments of other bloggers, so much time spent collectively posting our latest thoughts, the seemingly endless creativity and originality displayed by Thomas and Ben and yet it seems to have got us nowhere. As one takes one’s seat, that you never thought you’d vacate, before yet another must win home game, all you can feel is overwhelming disillusionment. Even the familiar notes of ‘hi ho Wolverhampton’ fail to lift spirits currently as one expects further disappointment; so what’s to be done?
Previous experience shows that the questions that need to be asked and answered tend not to voiced at Fans’ Parliaments and so called peaceful protests tend to show fans at their worst as only extreme behaviours attract TV and press coverage. So what’s the best way to get our concerns heard, we’ve got just four days to decide; surely a task within the capability of this blog fraternity
My first post on here, totally agree with all that is being said here, and I too have the same will I / won’t I renew after having a ST for 20 years now. I wonder if someone will ask at the fans parliament if the club would offer a reduction/ refund on early bird purchases if relegation becomes a reality, which seems so real at he moment. It would at least show that the board at least consider the ST holders, instead of expecting us to blindly part with our hard earned cash which seems really disrespectful to the loyal support that our team has always had. We already have to put up with so-called ‘offers’ that we never benefit from. If they said to us renew and if we go down we will refund in line with other league one season ticket pricing, we would still get fans renewing. I look forward to the ticket office telephoning me, I will make sure my point is made, even though I may be wasting my breath.

thanks l.tune, would like to go if i could get in for sure. if not i will go on facebook thks
Had a call at work today from someone at wolves ticket office asking if there was anything he could do or were their any questions re guarding my early bird. Sadly he had no control over playing matters but he did give me a direct line to the ticket office by passing the queues ( had a small laugh ) . Think they might be getting a bit desperate don’t you think.
Mind you I might keep the number for The johnstones paint trophy final
I would to see a zero attendance at the fans forum, to show morgan and greasel how much we think of them.
Trouble is Clive thats what they want, all they would say is we have a fans forum for the fans to air their grievance’s and nobody turns up so how can we answer questions, they’d love that.
UTW.
Great summary Ben. It’s easy, like WM commentators, to be wise after the event but I was honestly pleased when I saw the line-up. Playing top of the league and needing to stay in it, a back-five with wing backs looked worth a shout. Doherty was worth a try. Ward dropped, Kev’nil’ Doyle still dropped, Berra not even on the bench, Foley dropped. At least if it doesn’t work Deano tries something different and at least he changed it at half-time. SS would still be trotting out the same 11 and having one attempt at goal per half. (Incidentally we had a poor first half on 5 Live Extra but we played better than we did on WM).
To Deano’s credit, it’s not taken him long to realise the whole back four needed replacing and he’s done it. He’s giving kids a chance. To quote Saunders: “…we’ve not been getting good results, and the young lads have got fresh minds, fresh legs and enthusiasm. Sometimes that’s what you need to turn things around rather than playing the same players who have had punches on the chin non-stop for two-and-a-half years. Some of them look a bit jaded from it all… Jack isn’t thinking about anything apart from he’s playing for Wolves in a big game. Matt has the same mentality – he’s got no mental baggage and went on the pitch thinking it’s his debut”. The new ‘young and hungry’ revolution may just have started and Amen to that.
Sadly, there is one common denominator in four years of failure on the pitch that continues to dodge the bullet. Four managers, formation changes, different personel, always at the heart of it all, there is one constant waste of a shirt, hidden in plain sight: Karl ‘plus ten’ Henry. I’m going to start calling him Karl ‘with 10’ Henry because it’s basically like playing with 10 men. This team will not properly move forward until we’ve taken the final step of replacing our ever-present captain with a combative central midfielder who can actually pass more than 6 yards. If I was watching a Sunday league team fine but it’s not acceptable at this level. I’m not trying lay all the blame at the door of one man (as useless as he is, it’s not as if HE appointed Terry Connor) but if we’d got Frimpong in place of Henry I suspect we’d have won a game or two by now. And that’s not even casting the net very far. I’m aware Henry wasn’t our worst player on Sunday but frankly being the best defensive midfielder in a Wolves team in their fourth successive relegation campaign really should be telling you something. I know the media likes to brainwash us and we don’t like to think we’ve been brainwashed so some people won’t want to hear it but check out the points per game stats for Karl Henry in the last 3 seasons and you will find they are even worse than Wolves (we averaged 2 points per game in the prem games he missed). I’ll repeat that in case you missed it: Even worse than Wolves. Please find an emergency loan deal somewhere Mr Henry, preferably at Ipswich, and take Kevnil Doyle with you. As long as they are here managers keep getting tempted to play them and it always ends the same way.
Interesting that Arsenal yesterday announced cash reserves of £123.3m but Jez wont reveal ours as its “commercially sensitive” according to him.
Have asked why of a member of the Fans Parliament thats meeting tomorrow. Not holding my breath for an answer!
“League One’s tight battle for room at the top means it is shaping up as Europe’s most excitingly competitive division” – subheading from the the Guardian site article on the current goings in the said division.
Moxey should be delighted using this in the Early Bird campaign, the bastard.
UTW
Two bits of better news from the ‘insanitised’ site.
Doherty showing some positivity and refreshing acceptance of our position.
The under 18s beating the shower up the road.
On another point, I don’t really understand about The fan’s parliament. Who gets to go and will there be anyone from the blog present so we can get a fair and honest report back on proceedings?
the only answer is…. as has been said loads of times is dont attend the home matches. whats the point of protests directed at m+m ? i know we feel we have to be proactive but it will fall on deaf ears once again. just stop going for a few games. no answers will be given at the fans parliament or the right questions asked. just stop for a minute and ask yourself…..why?
I sense a change in the responses to the blog. We appear to have moved from anger to despair and resignation and no wonder. Eight games under Colonel Saunders and no wins. 4 points out of a possible 24 and we were lucky to pick up a couple of them. That equates to 23 points in a season. This is TC all over again. Looking for positives, he has moved to sort out the defence but who is to say that SS wouldn’t have done the same, given the time and financial backing he was promised but which failed to materialise.
This post is prompted by the Kevin Doyle bit in the E&S – it’s opened old wounds a little. He has gone up in my estimation speaking out like this although it’s something we all knew and more positive actions on the pitch before S was sacked would have helped more. I think that when he draws a parallel with Rogers he is spot on the mark. What a disastrous decision SM made when he decided to sack SS and one I personally feel we will regret for a long time. I will always wonder – what if he had been supported with hard cash, was given time to shift out the dead wood and bring in more like Sako, Siggi and Pzesko. What if he was allowed time for what, after all, was a long term plan. As Thomas once said – I felt he had the potential to be our special one. That is what I dared to dream and why not – he was able to compete at the highest level in Europe with a totally unfashionable club.
Doyle admits the players were to blame and if that is the case then Staale shouldn’t have been sacked. He should have been given more time, as KD also admits. It seems obvious that SM & JM didn’t think this was the case. How can you get it so hopelessly wrong?
Doyle’s reaction is sour grapes. He might have an average of 1 goal in 5 games (poor by any standards for a striker) but he’s only scored in 3 of the 30-odd games he’s played for us this season. Now he finds himself justifiably out of favour he’s suddenly feel sorry for SS. Solbakken played the same failures week in week out and when it didn’t work he just did it again. To offset Sako there is Boukari, to offset Sigurdarson there is a homesick, lethargic Doumbia and to offset Pzesko there is Georg Margreitter. Dean Saunders may not be the answer (to think we turned our noses up at Steve Bruce) but Ståle Solbakken certainly wasn’t. We had a chance to make a Premier League appointment when we sacked MM. We appointed TC. Sadly, we’re not in the market for Premier League managers/players anymore. Like it or not, a decent league one manager that recognises dead wood is as good as it’s going to get.
A bit unfair to judge Boukari, Margreitter and Doumbia when the first 2 have hardly played and the latter has had spells of injury and has looked quality in some games but rubbish in others. Realistically our only quality players this season have been Sig and Sako – both Solbakken purchases. Clearly Nouble (and probably Tank) were recruited on the say-so of MM’s scouts.
Solbakken had little choice other than to play the same players week in week out due to injuries. Boukari – played one game and looked useful. I can’t see how you judge a player on that one performance. Margrietter was also injured and since regaining fitness hasn’t had a chance. Pzesko was injured for a long spell and SS didn’t have a fit O’Hara.
Have to agree with Jack – where would we be without Siggy and Sako – both brought in by SS. Doyle is hardly out of favour and I think if you read his piece there is no hint of sour grapes. . . . . . just my opinion.
It’s all about opinions. No offence intended. I have nothing against SS but he was, in my opinion, the wrong man in the wrong place at the wrong time. I wish him well but he was never going to get the money to sign the players he needed so I’m glad he’s gone. We’ve now got a squad full of players whose best Wolves days are behind them, who expect to leave if we get relegated, M&M will be glad to get off the wage bill if we get relegated and consequently have no incentive to keep us up. Siggy was clearly a Solbakken signing but we had a scouting network in Europe under McCarthy so I’m not so sure Sako is one of Solbakken’s. In any case, there’s no disputing the new boys in the team are doing well, as are the kids. Doyle and co are on the way out and glad to be going. Time to move on to the next generation.
