You don’t always get what you deserve.

Just ask Mark Hudson.
The big centre half manfully repelled everything a dominant Wolves side had to offer in the regulation ninety.
But a tired injury time slip and slice later, he’d denied his side what would have been a hard earned point.
It was cruel on the Cardiff skipper yet there can be no doubt Wolves merited the fortune.
For 45 glorious Molineux minutes, the home side subjected the Bluebirds to wave after wave of unrewarded bombardment.
Sako hit the inside of the post from the corner flag, van La Parra headed wide and Doherty could only graze the side netting but the crowd purred at the prowess of Wolves’ zip-zapping possession football.
And whilst yes, conversion rate remains a significant concern, nobody can deny this is a wonderful team playing some of the best football we’ve seen in decades.
Team is the crucial word. This isn’t about a few talented individuals carrying the weak links. This is one to eleven operating as a fluid and cohesive unit. It’s fantastic to watch.
Kenny’s boys didn’t have it all their own way of course and when Cardiff got their act together after the break, it could be argued they carried the greater threat.
They definitely created the clearest chance of the game with Kenywe Jones only able to fire straight at Carl Ikeme from point blank distance. The keeper did well to stand up strong.
Wolves were huffing and puffing by that stage but dutifully stuck to their passing principles and forced the all important mistake.
The finish might have owed much to lady luck, but they again shuffled the ball smartly to McDonald in the crossing position and the law of averages did the rest.
With a whopping 67% share of possession yesterday (incidentally Chelsea only managed 63% against Leicester) it’s clear Wolves always had an element of control.
And any team will do well to get anything at Molineux this season if the home side can replicate that type of ball retention on a consistent basis.
Consistency will perhaps be the greatest challenge of all over a grueling 46 game season.
But nothing we’ve seen so far suggests Wolves won’t continue to get what their performances deserve.

It was noticeable on Wednesday too Thomas….
The Team,
Everyone playing a part in the greater whole.
How about a cheeky loan bid for Danny Welbeck?
That might solve our goal scoring problem.
I swapped some texts with Ben last night about the lack of goals.
My gut instinct is a big unit up front would probably benefit most from the amount of balls we’re getting into the box, hence why it was disappointing we couldn’t lure Wood.
That said Dicko’s all round play is very good and there’s a risk that taking him out could alter the dynamic of what’s a very good team.
I do think the goals will start to come regularly from multiples sources the likes Sako, RvLP, Edwards, Dicko, etc if we continue to have so much ball around the opposition penalty area.
The shape of the team shouldn’t be altered because it’s nicely balanced. It’s just about having a bit of variety as and when we need it.
And of course, if any offers come in for the likes of Sako before the end of August, repelling them at all costs.
So where do you think Clarke fits into all this?
The manager seems very reluctant to bring him on, even with 2 points about to go begging.
Great win – not just 3 points for us but 3 Cardiff can’t get and that may prove vital at the end of the season.
Agree completely with your analysis Thomas.
In fact, right now, despite the lack of goals, really hope we continue with the ‘team’ as it is.
The season is in its infancy and already Wolves have demonstrated they are a ‘class’ act.
We need to ensure, above all else, that we can consolidate and build on the foundation Kenny has created at our club.
Sako is to be linked again to Leicester, sad to see him leave, if he goes to PL. If he stays, he probably will play in PL next season with Wolves, let’s hope he thinks like that as well!

Vargas
In the first 45 minutes Wolves played some of their best football I`ve had the privilege to watch in over 40 years attending the golden palace. Incisive and clever passing, movement and moving forward with pace was a joy to watch, and while the goal was a bit fortunate, it balances maybe the goal and the result at the New York Stadium last week.
The second half was more even, but I think wolves wanted it more, and the ex premier league opposition seemed to believe they only had to turn up to get a result.
The defence is doing it all over again this year against better teams with better players, and Ikeme`s two saves were of the highest order. Rarely have I seen so many smiling faces around Molyneux after a game, you have to believe with KJ that this team is a bit special and can only get better.
I think anything other than a win yesterday would have been a travesty. Cardiff looked rubbish first half and marginally better second, and they are promotion favourites. We can criticise the conversion rate but look at who we have played an their results so far this season. It’s a bit schoolboyish to say, but if Cardiff and Norwich can take maximum points off some of the other teams they’ve played then so can we. That makes us better on paper than many other sides in this division. Let’s see what the “goals for” column says after a few more games. Someone soon will get a stuffing. Very happy right now, great work Kenny & the lads.
As good as we looked in possession yesterday and we made cardiff look very poor I can’t remember their keeper having a save to make which does concern me .
Surely we need someone else up front as Dicko was going wide and there was no-one n the middle to receive the ball, other than that we look really strong and a joy to watch this team
What a fantastic day.
Winning 1 – 0 .. predicting the correct score and meeting up with some fellow bloggers in the Bloggers Bar.
Of course the goal was fortuitous but in my view cancelled out the bad look we had at Rotherham (and we’re a point better off with the luck issues!)
As Mark above says it’s a pleasure to watch and at least we pass the ball forwards and are always probing to find the right path to goal (not continually side to side, back to Ikeme then lump it).
As Thomas says the key to success this campaign will be consistency plus adding a bit more up front options (Morgan and Moxey take note).
Nice also to meet theDOOGooder, the PMDG’er, Brompton Wolf and Thomas at lunch time..
Roll on Blackburn …
If we continue to play the spectacular football we saw in the opening 45 minutes eventually the goals will come some poor side will come to Molineux and find themselves 3 or 4 nothing down at half time it’s coming. That said we do seem to need another striker, Clarke doesn’t appear to be flavour of the month and even I have to think that’s a little concerning given we splashed £1m out for him at the beginning of the year.
I’m always optimistic these days, We’ve played the three relegated sides and haven’t conceded a goal, We we’re extremely unfortunate at Rotherham and we could be sitting on 12 points rather than the impressive 9 we’ve already collected, A few more faces and given the sort of football we’ve been displaying and we’ll be there or there about’s come May.
A bit too early to get carried away imo.
To me the problem in having another striker is that if you play him up top with Dicko, who do you drop ?
I thought Edwards had a fine game yesterday. He has managed to stay fit and his work rate and link up play was first class.
If you drop Dicko then you lose his explosive pace, excellent hold up play and constant harrying of the opposition’s back four.
That said, most balls arrive in the box in the air from our wingers and we obviously lack aerial height with Dicko playing the lone striker. Their centre backs and keeper dealt comfortably with our crosses yesterday.
Let’s give it a few more games to see if we start converting those chances.
UTW!
Maybe one could play Clarke in the hole instead of Edwards. The gain we would gain in the aerial department, we would lose in Edwards work rate. It’s absolutely an interesting alternative at home, when we have so much posession as against Cardiff, playing 4-4-2. Jackett has done it before in the past with success. Why haven’t he done so this season? I think the answer to this question is that we are now playing in the championship, and that we’ve to this point have been uncertain of the team’s strength compared to the level needed to succeed. I strongly believe we still can dominate games at home with two strikers.
The alternative is playing with a complete striker which is both fast and strong in the air. And these kind of players are not easily aquired these days, without spending a lot of money.
With (untried) Tommy Rowe in the mix then this Elusive striker prob would not only get us in the premier but this squad could prob keep us there too…
This was a significant result and with pundits gushing over our play and high possession the Wolves are really doing it give or take this wanted classy front man to help Dicko..
Our defending and defence is now obviously part of KJs strategy as clean sheets mean we only have to score a goal to win..
None of us can be critical of our team that should only get better ..I feel sorry for players who warm up the bench too .. I of all people even feel sorry for Clarke..as for Rickets (Captain (!) last year) ,what must he be feeling..
Ok, so we rotate but there must be some miffed players on the sidelines..
KJs no doubt unrepentant but happy leading us still towards the top teir..
If we play well against Forest when it comes then ill really be a believer..
It’s just a bit too soon at the moment
but it really does seem possible that we all can get our status again..
Fantastic start so far..
COYW
Great win & 3 points on the board.
Early days yet & plenty left to play but all good.
UTW
The key factor in our early season success is the massive confidence which runs throughout this team. Every player believes in his own ability and that of his team mates, and this shines through in the delightful quality of the possession game we play. Whilst the goal conversion rate may be a concern, if we continue to play as we are now doing, the goals will surely come.
Agree with all the comments, unbelievable first 45 minuteS, totally absorbing totally, the new Wolves.
Have you ever seen a left back skinned so many times as Fabio was by Van La Parra – master class first half by him.
Also thought Evans had his best game in old gold shirt, sprayed the ball about and got stuck in.
We do need a striker, as hard working and honest a player Dicho is, he did not get enough shots on goal. I was surprised by KJ not trying another option with 15 or 20 min to go.
Brilliant team performance.
UTW
Thought we would win by more than 1 but just happy with another 3 points on the board. Making my first journey to see a match next weekend. Where is everyone drinking before and after? Be nice to meet some fellow bloggers
what a great first 45 mins only thing missing was goals .its a pleasure to watch KJs wolves a young vibrant together side .Long may it continue .Didnt feel sorry for the sheep******** felt it would have been an injustice if we hadnt taken all 3 points .WOLVES 3 RELAGATED PREM TEAMS A BIG FAT ZERO . lovin it . WOLVES AY WE
How many people wanted 3,4,5 or even 6 signings in the close season as it was assumed the squad could not handle the step up?
Well as only 2 were signed and 1 of them has not started a game yet, me thinks humble pie all round? (Unless Moxey gets to the pie 1st?)
We have had more possession average per game than last season, so in reflection you have to admit that there’s not much difference in skill between the 2 divisions… If anything last season we played better / hungrier teams.
Now onto this season, if we can keep our loan signings to 1 player in the opposition each game like our loan striker yesterday… Then we’ll be alright!
Leeds in the Revie days held firm and stopped everything in it’s tracks with a solid strong defence, (for Billy Bremmner, read Kevin McDonald) but the comparison ends there, Leeds were so boring to watch.
Arsenal of old in the Don Howe days had the same, a great defence which did the job week in week out, bit again they were so boring, again the comparison ends there too.
Wolves have established themselves as a sound, solid, skilful , possession greedy team, but no-one this season can ever say they are boring to watch, the South Bank saw the difference and responded with fantastic voice, in the North Bank they were showing us the way for a while.
As the guys have said above, “we are witnessing better football at Molineux than we have witnessed in 49-50 years or so)
I strongly believe when Rowe comes in as he surely will (he is a class act) we will be firing even more balls into the area, so a tall skilful confident Striker would sew everything up nicely. We are more than covered for injuries with the quality on the bench.
We are a goalscoring striker away from the Premiership,
Come on me Babbies
🙂
I would like to start by quoting (or slightly misquoting) from two classic works:-
“Throw those arms out wide,
One day like this a year will see me right”.
“Bliss was it in that day to be alive,
But to be a Wolves fan was very heaven!”.
So it was yesterday when the Wolves Band of Brothers played another ‘Premiership’ team off the park and a mini meeting of Wolves bloggers had a convivial pre and post match gathering.
You have summed up the game perfectly Thomas.
You couldn’t really pick a player who didn’t give their all for the team and the cause.
A master class in teamwork and tactical nouse.
The one criticism is that we put a hell of a lot of floated crosses into the box and there was quite often nobody on the end of them.
We don’t have a big striker up front, but we do have a guy who is as quick as lightning and a natural goal poacher.
It seems to me that crosses should be driven hard and low. It nullifies the height of the defenders and plays into the hands (or feet) of a small, quick striker.
Just a thought Kenny.
And the attendance was a little disappointing again.
If Cardiff brought a couple of thousand fans, there must have been under 20,000 home supporters.
But apart from that, it was a perfect day.
Great to meet Brompton Wolf, Mr and Mrs Twixfix and Thomas and his two chums, although I didn’t get much of a chance to speak to him.
I was going to ask what has become of the postcard.
But I didn’t, so I’m asking now.
“What’s become of the postcard Thomas?”
The PMDG’er and myself also got to meet another blogger from Wales later on.
Hi Doug, and Mrs Doug.
ExileWolf I think.
On a slightly sourer note.
Did anyone see the coverage of the game on The Football League Show?
Apart from only lasting about a second and a half, it gave the impression that Cardiff had been the better side and were desperately unlucky to lose.
What game were those jerks watching?!
And one last thing.
He did buy us a drink Clive.
And so did Twixfix.
Let’s have more days like this please!
Great to see you both again and all credit to you for making the journey up from Wiltshire to see you’re team. From what the PMDG’er was telling me you fell in love with Wolves when you were studying in the 70’s. I take my hat off to you both. All this time hasn’t eroded your football passion for the Wolves .. it’s strengthened it.
I salute you …..
Nice to see you both again. Next time I am sure I will remember who you are.
you too BW great to see you .. at least I knew who you were !!!!! Joke
Great to see you both again. I enjoyed your company and hope your journey home was fine.
Hi Mark. Yes it was good to see and your good lady wife in the evening. About the game, I did think that Clarke might have come on in the second half, if only to help Dicko out in the middle.
Glad to see you on here mate. Look forward to meeting you again at some game in the future. Hope your return journey was without jams.
From a first half where we absolutely dominated, playing some of the best football I can remember seeing, I would have taken a draw by the end. There is concern about a lack of goals, and rightly so, but we should also remember that Cardiff and Norwich are two of the best, if not the best, sides we will play this season and we have beaten them both. Four games in and we have dominated all of them. And it’s just a work in progress according to Kenny. Exciting times.
Doogooder
The Late Great George Best once said on his ability in reading the ball, “it’s not a case of trying to be where the ball is, it’s where the ball is going to be next”
Methinks that is the problem at Molineux at the moment, the Maestro McDonald and now RVLP are putting some fantastic balls into spaces and unfortunately it appears it was as a bad ball, but it’s a case of the intended recipients failure to read the genius. They were both a delight and pleasure to watch yesterday. When the team gets in Sync with those two after a few games I am of the same opinion as our fellow bloggers, someone is in for a hiding.
Seven days to wait for the next game, thank God for the U21s on Tuesday.
🙂
Nice to see Wolves up there and playing some really beautiful football as well. McDonald so reminds me of Beckenbaur , the way he holds the ball and sprays it round. Other than that the team has gelled well and plays with confidence. I am sure that with a prolific striker on board we can start to dream of nicer things to come. We have to accomodate Dicko because he does a lot of work , running and harassing and all alone up front. The last thing I would like to mention is this…so far so good, and its nice to read all the praise here and everywhere…We have to remind ourselves also that sooner or later we are going to pass through a bad patch..it happens and it happens to everyone…hope that when that comes around we don’t start lambasting the players, the team, and calling for KJ’s head.
I, like the DOOGooder and others, was quite pissed off with the TV coverage. It certainly gave the impression that Cardiff had the upper hand. Come on ….. sort it out!!!
Have not seen the BBC coverrage but the sky sports one I’ve just watched on the top of this blog shows who the top team were, Us!
Great defensive performance it really was, Doherty, Stearman, Batth, Goldbourne & Ikeme were absolutely, to a man, top drawer.
Every member of this current side play their hardest, they all try and are not afraid of getting the ball. What a credit to the manager this team are.
I know its early days & its not the place after 4 games to go over the top, but compare this team with the dross of the previous gaffers & we have travelled a long long way forward.
The last time I saw Wolves play this well was in the Championship winning season with Jarvis & Kightly firing on both wings, & SEB getting on the end of things. That was an excellent team as well, are this team as good? There is promise there, but its early as yet, and a bloody long season ahead.
I echo the smiling faces at the Mol after the game it was a great feeling. Hope that more of the missing fans come back, we need to be up there with Derby & Forest getting 25,000 plus in the ground. The team & the Manager richly deserve a bigger audience.
Gotcha ! Made contact down here in deepest France. Connection very slooooww but enjoyed the report immensely and the positive comments. Keep the faith my friends, all for one and one for all. A quote from the three Jacketeers ? Must say this Bordeaux red is going down very nicely! hic!
really jealous of you .. although I’ll be helping with the French wine consumption figures this week !!
I predicted somewhat optimistically that we would be in the top six come May. Now I feel that is realistic. looking at Derby and Forrest you realise there are some good teams about so there is plenty of work to do. I would also agree about the mutual confidence and the quality of football it produces. The first half yesterday was one of the best I have seen in 40 years. But we need a Plan B forward and, for whatever reason , it seems not to be Mr Clarke. There is a bit more to come from Van la Parra in terms of end product after dazzling full backs but am confident Kenny will have that sorted. Finally it is wonderful to see so many of our players improving – Evans, Golbourne, Edwards, Doherty, even Stearman. In the latter case I put it down partly to the removal of the silly haircut and pantomime beard. It must improve confidence and reduce ridicule.
A fantastic start to the season, great posession yesterday. KMac was sublime and I have to say that Evans
was excellent too. Not long ago, I would have questoned Evan’s place in the team. As everyone has said, the team is what had gelled. I am not that concerned about the conversion rate. As long as we are keeping the ball (KJ’s mantra I think) and creating chances, goals will come. Thomas is right, if a new striker comes in alongsisde Dicko, who will be dropped?
If last season taught me anything, it’s this, Kenny knows best. I am sure that reluctance to disturb the team’s equillibrium is part of the reason that we have only 2 new faces. I feel a bit sorry for Clarke, he has had little chance to make his mark – compared to Cassidy for instace. Yes, we do need a striker, but at the expense of Moxey, and not the team.
I still can’t believe what I am seeing, passing, possesion-based football. I have to say, it is pretty damn good.
I tend to agree with those who say the goals WILL come if we continue to play so well.
As for team selection, it’s great that we have the likes of Jacobs. Ricketts and Henry waiting on the bench, perhaps Eusebio and others too ! In a long season there’ll be injuries, suspensions and tactical changes to be made, so they’ll all get their chances. And goals will come from Doherty, Ricketts and others, as last year, maybe Rowe scores goals ? Certainly don’t drop Dicko; I reckon Kenny is playing Edwards while he’s still fit ; although he’s improved lately, he’d be the one I’d drop if any.
Ive fancied us for the play offs from the off. The problem I see we face is lack of strength in depth and What to do with our scoring situation to take someone out the team lessons the team then we may not play as well or do we risk it to get more goals. We have been fantastic so far but only Blackpool have scored fewer than us. If we want to be serious contenders we have to score more goals.
Agree with all whats been said on previous posts, its obvious we need a striker to score us that 25 goals, but we must be careful not to disrupt the balance that KJ has so successfully
engineered.
The trouble is wages, if he gets another striker in on big wages the other players are going to want the same and we all know what that caused,so in my opinion we should opt for the loan market for the time being and get rid of the dross that’s bleeding our club.
Apart from that we’re doing fine, What a performance especially the first 45 this time we got the just rewards fantastic performance overall..KJ WILL SORT IT OUT.UTW..
Wow! Admittedly, I didn’t think we had what it took to beat Cardiff. Evidently, I stand corrected. Proudly so. Based on this result, one can conclude we can beat any team in this division on a good day. Not just based on the result, actually, but based on what I am hearing from everyone on how they are playing. I wish I was there to see them play!
I do think our scoring abilities up front need to be addressed soon. As the other teams start finding their stride, it’s going to come down to which team takes their chances. We need to start taking ours before we undo all the good work so far.
Meantime, let’s keep winning. May as well 🙂
Go Wolves!
Stu Wolf .’.we are a goal scoring striker away from the premier’
my exact sentiments…do we go for an unknown or spend REAL money ?
say a Carol type ie west ham £15.5m
Would the MMs put there hands in their pockets?
Steve.
I frequent the U21s and last year really enjoyed watching new fresh talent. We have Eusebio, Keita, McAllinden and the enigma that is Clare, what the heck is going on there. Only today Kenny was singing his praises with an added “he hasn’t had the opportunities”. So we do have players who are proving they can score elsewhere but not in the first team, but if they don’t get a shot we will never find out.
I like Sako and Dicko as much as the rest, but drop someone just for a rest even and give these guys a go, we have enough strength in the team to support them, I know this is a gamble, but what an opportunity to find our own piece of Gold in Gold & Black from within. When Dicko or Sako got rested last season they came back like something possessed.
Just my opinion, Kenny knows best and in Kenny I trust. Like everone else I’m loving it and would take 1-0 ‘s all season
🙂
The shit eating grin is back, I think I might even get it tattooed in place!!
The object of the game is to win, by scoring more than the opposition. I’ve said it before and I will now repeat it, no goal is a bad goal, and I don’t care how unlucky the others feel, if the ball goes in off an opponent, head, chest, knee or arse. As long as they cross the line, it is fine by me. We have a solid defense, and we are winning, what’s not to like?
When the fixtures came out, I bet the Norwich, Fulham and Cardiff fans and players were rubbing their hands, thinking easy points from a newly promoted team, with no recent success against Championship opposition.
Well, if they were, a resounding bollocks to them.
Nine points from the first 4 matches, one point off top spot. I will take that all day long, thank you very much.
I don’t give a shit how many, or few, we score, as long as it is more than the other team.
If we win every match 1 – 0, we will be champions.
Peter Broadbent said that our glorious fifties team never thought they would lose, no matter the opposition.
It appears our present bearers of the gold and black standard are of the same mindset.
Long may it continue.
KJ you are doing a fabulous job.
Thank you.
Clive.
Well feckin said squire.
For confirmation to your passionate feelings, read above your comment.
🙂
Well I was at Rotherham last week and to lose 1-0 was an absolute injustice. So I am not complaining about yesterday. Excellent sequence of results against the prem trio. I reckon Blackburn on Sat could be a big test as I had them down as promotion possibilities. Difficult start but coming through with flying colours and not looking poor. KEEP CALM AND WOLVES AY WE !
A quick nip back just to see if this otherwise excellent blog still allows the foul-mouthed neanderthal that is “Clive from Houston” to post.
It does. Very, very sad to see that it does.
I’m out of here again. Goodbye.
Goodbye dylanwolf?
Sorry mate, I hadn’t noticed that you had gone!
Doog
Make excuses for him, He’s one of those “Country members”
Dylanwolf.
Bye Dylan, close the door and lock it as you leave mate,
“A wise man speaks when he has something useful to say.
A fool speaks because he feels he has to say something.”
🙂
Who was Dylanwolf. Never read anything he posted. On the other hand Clive always has something intersesting to say.
Thank you Tipton.
Who is this bloke Clive, is he the one off the Magic roundabout with the stupid hat. Mail me on my personal address, love to hear about this one
🙂
I quite like the handle Neanderthal, I think I will start using it.
In fact, thank you Dylan, your comment was a compliment.
Now if there is a response from you, it will prove you really are still reading this fabulous blog, which again is a compliment to all other bloggers on this site.
Y’all have a nice day.
Well you won’t be missed!!!
Again predicted the wrong score but the correct result, who cares? As long as the lads keep winning I am not bothered with the score. “A 1-0 to the Wolves” song would suit me down to the ground.
Having followed the Wolves for over 60 years I have to say that this team, and it is a team, seems to be one of, if not the best footballing teams we have ever had. KJ only needs to solve the old age problem of getting some body to put the ball in the net and I think we could hold our own in any company.
Tipton,
You are spot on matey, the best Iv’e watched since 1960 wothout a doubt, Stan Cullis may well have to pass the Baton.
🙂
Rumour has it, 21 yr old Chelsea midfielder George Saville having medical at Molineux right now prior to completing transfer.
Could this be another King Kenny coup?
Just got back from a sunny weekend in Barmouth with some fellow Wolves fans. We were all over the moon with the result, The old joke of Wolves being useless is I’m happy to say redundant! Here we now have a TEAM who are all pulling together and I believe a Club doing the right things in the back ground. I said it before but supporting this fantastic club just seems to be getting better with each week please step forward Kenny Jackett the team and club for putting a big smile on the long suffering Wolves fans faces.
Just announced on Sky, Kevin McDonald has been called up by Strachan to play Germany. I shall be getting my tickets for that one, hope he plays.
Well done Maestro, well deserved.
🙂
That’s great news. Particularly apt that he has been called up against Germany.
I said last season that he reminded me a lot of Franz Beckenbauer.
His performances since then have not made me change my mind.
The only downside is that an International game against Germany represents a very big shop window!
Let us keep our collective fingers crossed that he does not get injured!!!
In case he does – I see Kenny has purchased his replacement. I am sure he will be good, only 21 so tons of future potential. I was hoping on a striker first though.
I’ve got the last couple of minutes of the game, including the goal, as seen by me and the PMDG’er, on youtube if anyone is interested.
Good to hear the South Bank in full voice!
http://youtu.be/sGWSqm-ivVA
10 out of 10 for keeping the camera steady whilst having a Wolves organism!!
Great to see such pressure by the lads, at one point 9 in their half, so late in a game when lesser teams would have settled for a point.
Disappointing to see the Billy Quiet with so many empty seats.
Encouraging to see all the grey haired fans surrounding you, Doog!
I think you should be the official blog film maker, go to every game, home and away, since you managed to film just the right part of the game to catch the goal.
Brilliant.
I will send a contribution to the blogbank towards your travel expenses.
Cheers mate!
I will accept the post of official blog film maker as long as you pay my hotel expenses as well.
I can’t really think of any job I’d rather have.
Of course I’d need a few weekends off for the occasional music festival, but I’m sure we can come to some arrangement.
Well I’ll endorse that .. the production of the Bloggers Ball in May convinced me totally .. a very clever man is the DOOGooder …
Thanks for the extract, million times better than the BBC league show and radio WM.
Careful that the fat controller doesn’t work out your position from the video and charge extra.
Onwards and upwards
Thanks DOOG for posting the vid on YouTube. I was sitting about 10 meters to your right by the looks of the video view, but my Dad and I left a few minutes from the end to beat the rush (had to get back to London for 7pm). The bits we missed were perfectly and conveniently caught on camera so cheers. Good to see that we kept possession in the dying minutes. I remember we were just crossing the ring road opposite Kwik-Fit when we heard the roar from the Mol crowd.
Gutted we missed the goal but as everyone else has said, even at 0-0 we’d watched a Wolves masterclass in pass and move, a great match and in the end we got what we deserved. ALL THREE POINTS.
UTW!!
Only too happy to be of assistance VexRob.
Leaving early is a dangerous business when the Wolves are playing.
I hope you’ve learnt your lesson.
🙂 Lesson Learnt!!
Based on recent performances, I won’t be leaving early again. It’s nice to think for a change that late goals are going in our favour. Over recent years the last 5 minutes has so often been about holding on, rather than pushing for that winner and thats something I’m sure we’re all grateful for.
Seen it Doog,
Seen it again and again and again, will never tire or feel guilty of the win under such circumstances. This rectifies the Rotherham result, Hey Clive, perhaps there is God. If there is then Kevin Beckenbaur McDonald is his love child.
🙂
Who is this bloke Clive? (Stuwolf)
I had to read it twice and scroll up as I missed the previous message from the troll to take it in the right way.
I must have skipped past his message the 1st time as my subconscious must have known that dylanwolf did not have much to say.
Anyway.. Back to reading the proper posts!
Shrews Wolf,
Yes your’e right it does look to have a double meaning,
I was that disappointed that he was back, I am always singing the praises of the quality contributions from you guys that I just waded in both feet first to see if there had been ill feeling somewhere in the past as I am a relatively new blogger. Clive e-mailed me to explain that he doesn’t know the guy. This Dylan seems to be of a plank.
As you say, Normal service resumed ASAP..
🙂
Everything about following the Wolves is a pleasure these days, including reading this blog. Even despite that little pointless bit of negativity aimed at the 5-1 from Houston. Who rattled that guy’s cage? I reckon the real Bob Dylan (assuming he’s not a Wolves fan, converted by Rob Plant and now secretly following the blog) would prefer Clive’s humorous and singular posts to such random and intermittent sniping.
Anyway, back on point; it would be a shame to drop Dicko, and if he hits a vein of scoring form comparable to last season’s we’re in for a treat.
However, this far this season there’s been no goals, and not a vast amount of chances. His work rate is phenomenal and he creates lots of room for his team mates and links things up nicely. But you could say that description sounds a bit like Doyle.
Hopefully either Dicko’s scoring touch will return soon or King Kenny will pluck another gem out of thin air before the month’s out, as I a 20+ goal contribution from a striker would surely see this team ply their trade in the top league next term.
Even with the group 3 strain on resources, I’m sure Morgan will be aware of this, and if the right man becomes available we’ll get him.
While I’m on a late night feel good ramble about the Wolves, this kid from Chelski sounds promising. Hopefully he’ll be a big part of our glorious new future.
Enjoy the good times while they’re here folks, all things must pass.
UTW
Who is this Clive fella you are all talking about. The only geezer from Houston I know is a Neanderthal!
UTW/FOWB
If I keep getting likened to a shit fan, I will have to come over there, beat you about the head with my club, drag your women by the hair back to my cave, and feed them to my pet T Rex!!
Okay. But I don’t get the …. likened to a shit fan bit!!
What a plonker I am………likening a shit fan to Neanderthals is an insult to Neanderthals.
Enuff.
Move on.
New topic….please!!!
New Topic: Saville
I was truly believing that a striker was coming our way as a priority. I now see we have got Saville, a young Chelsea midfielder in on a 3 year deal with an option of a further year. As Kenny knew him while at Millwall and has therefore bought him, I will believe that he is going to be good, if not immediately, then certainly for the future – back up for MacDonald?
I still want to see a striker inbound though.
Thoughts?
I hate this chap Neanderthal. Now that Chap Clive From Houston I have lots of time for him, being a regular contributor, a top chap all round, and knows his favorite score 5-1 what else.
Please can we snub this pre-historic interloper just in case it sends the universe out of kilter and all things Wolves start to change, Clive Ay We should be the cry from us all, followed by a FOWB.
As for muppets that come and go, stick with the latter and we’ll all be happy
AmberW01f.
Thank you for those kind words, could not have written them better meself!
Neanderthal is quite a compliment as it shows that it came from a weaker variant that looks up to you Clive.
You should get an “F” tattoo on one as cheek and “W B” on the other, then moon for our neighbours… (Not saying that you have such a big ass that they can see that far)… But you could post em a pic!
I Think Therefore I Yam… yam
How do you know I haven’t already got said tattoos?
Has Scooped been talking?
George Saville Chelsea 21 year old midfielder just signed 3 year deal with optionfpr further 1year.
🙂
Sounds good doesn’t it?
Saville, long blond locks………..OH SHIT!
lol – yeah, but bought by our Kenny – so should not be a worry!!!
Now then, now then
🙂
Just testing the new image upload function I’ve added to the comments section with the George Saville signing picture. Hopefully it works fine. Use it responsibly lads.
There’s a ‘Browse’ button underneath the comment form. Simple click that, add the picture from your computer and then type your comment and submit as normal.
Brilliant initiative Thomas.
Was good to see you on Saturday, but I apologise for not getting round to chatting mate.
Maybe next time fella.
Thanks mate.
It’s me who should be apologising for lack of effort. Didn’t feel myself Saturday and had 100 things going on, but no excuse.
Just sent Doog an email to say next time we should do a post-game meetup and maybe do a mini pub-crawl (*alcohol not mandatory for all). Would be a good laugh.
Like that idea – a lot. Could work out a tad cheaper too, as whilst the pint(s) were exceptional, at £3.90 a go found me having to visit the cash point again.
Joking aside, I like the idea, but as I have not lived in Wolverhampton since I left in 1973, I will have to leave it up to you to show us the local haunts.
See you soon mate.
This is friggin brillo, Thomas, me boy.
You do realize you have opened a mega can of Pandoras box though, don’t you??!!
Just testing to see how this works lol
Anyone remember this? A tad before my time:
Oh! yes, I remember it well!
That’s me on the left of the picture, filming the lads.
Just sending you all a pic so you know who to look out for if I ever meet you! COYW!!!!!!
Great result and looks like another shrewd signing from Kenny.
Oh I think I’ll test this picture thingy thing thing.
Yea works well.
Ha pic wrong way round I’ll get it right next time.
Just thinking of what could be the 3 across midfield, but it sounds like a classy burger chain address.
McDonald, Saville Rowe.
I think therefore I Yam… yam
Saville Rowe Price seems to fit better!
Looks like we’ll be STREETS ahead this season, the team has been well TAILORED and SEEMS (okay I’m getting desperate) that Savilles play SUITs our STYLE!
Okay I’m done!
I think therefore I Yam…. Yam
Adding a quote I found today(saddo or what)
I thought it was worth addition as it sums our team up this season.
“Winning isn’t so important, but trying is”
🙂
Thos is the Best picture I could find.
Will master the spelling in time, (for Thos see This) oops.
🙂
That picture takes me back to one of the best (excuse the pun) games I ever saw. – admittedly only the highlights – on a Sunday afternoon back in 1976.
I’m sure you remember it, but the younger ones amongst us might not.
Fulham had somehow persuaded George Best, Rodney Marsh and Bobby Moore to sign for them and they played out a 4-1 win over Hereford.
It represents, for me, everything that is good about football and encapsulates the feeling of pure joy in playing the game that is sadly missing in a lot of sides today.
Best and Marsh were absolutely brilliant that day and, considering George had probably drunk several vats of spirit ten minutes before kick off, his fitness level was incredible.
Sadly, the partnership didn’t last long but, Jeez! while it did it was a something to see!
For anyone who hasn’t seen it, the highlights are on Youtube.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0KLrwmUDg0
I was actually at that game Doog, the one in the picture not the Hereford game.
Bloody hell, September 1976, I was only just 25. Best, Marsh and Moore might have been playing for Fulham, but I was there to see the mighty Wolves, Richards, Dougan, Munro, Bailey et al.
I was living in Bournemouth at the time so I can’t remember how I got there. I do remember the score was 0-0 though and George Best didn’t get a sniff. I think we had been relegated from division 1 the year before but we went on from there to win the league and immediately return to our rightful place at the top table.
I am really enjoying things under King Kenny, but that was the team that I will always love the most.
The reason I used that one is, there is my Grandson’s Godfather Steve Daley on tne same pitch as Rodders, Best & Moore. Alongside them is Geoff Palmer, when I lived in Cannock I used to go to every match home and away with Geoff’s brother Roger who was my mucker. Love the memory.
Best was the Best of the Best as they say in TopGun.
Onwards & Upwards
🙂
Wow, Steve Daley who was sold for a British transfer record in 1979.
I seem to remember they used the money to buy Andy Gray.
Martin
We’ve just come in from the U21s at Telford against Bolton, we attended most matches last season. King Kenny sits a few seats from us and during the break he took the time to have photos with my Grandkids and then spent quality time with loads of supporters and family members of the U21 kids. He got rid of the Academy coaches last year and brought Rob Edwards and the other guy, (sorry his name slips my mind), but the difference in the play from last season to this is likened to the transformation we see with the first team, it is so polished compared
with last year, no high long balls, playing it at their feet and wanting the ball, Wolves deservedly won 1-0,
But my point here is, you could see Kenny’s influence. He is changing not just the first team but right to the heart of the club in the youngsters. Young Connor Hunte played a stormer, another RVLP. Ibraham Kieta a tall 6′ plus player with a talent that is a pleasure to see and Bancassi playing really well. Happy Days all round.
🙂
Thanks for taking the trouble to post that Stu. Very interesting and heartening to hear.
I’d be interested to know your thoughts on Declan Weeks. I saw him in Ireland in the friendly against Bohemians and was very impressed.Whether his size will be a problem I don’t know but, heh, Messi’squite good isn’t he?
Yes, Edwards is the U18 boss and Scott Sellars is running the U21’s. It’s great to hear we’re playing good football throughout the club. Since the team of our youth, I don’t think any of our teams have played great football. Even with the good ones, It was more down to quality keepers, defenders and goalscorers in my opinion.
I really do think the club is planning for the long term now and the future ‘s so exciting.
If you do go regularly, I for one would be interested to hear opinions on the youngsters, so more of the same please.
Declan Weeks played his socks off last night, my wife commented straight away on the lad, he’s certainly not scared to get stuck in and can like Goldbourne hold a ball and then take em on. To strengthen what I wrote last night, Iv’e been on the Wolves site and Scott Cellars gave a great interview that make me think we’re here for a long time this time. As I’m talking to you now and as with the other great bloggers on here, we chat away about this and that, last night Kenny was doing the same, he takes time and speaks to all that approach him. This is a good manager, he respects the fans, he makes his team speak with the fans.
The difference in the U21s from May this year is unreal, fast forward 3 Months and 60% of the would genuinely fill the gaps that may occur from illness or injury in the first team.
I don’t know if you live locally, but if you do then these lads are well worth our support, I’ve seen 400 there some nights and the way the lads ate playing I feel confident we shall see those numbers in the future.
It’s great being a Wolves fan at the moment.
🙂
Never lived within 100 miles of Wolvo I’m afraid and from next Monday it’s going to be 2000 miles when we move to Cyprus!
Going to get back for some first team games though.
Blimey, north or south Cyprus, very cheap housing on the Turkish side. But, that’s no excuse, ClIve came in from Houston.
Get Wiziwig on your PC and you can get most of Wolves games all the season, although my Son in the Highlands said, “they did’nt show this weeks” very strange,,,,,
You think so youm Yam Yam
And very jealous of you, I am am
🙂
South StuWolf, midway between Limassol and Paphos.
Looking forward to the Reading game anyway, it’s on Sky. It’s on my wife’s birthday so that should save me having to take her out for a meal!
My new truck….I hope!
If you double click on the pic, you can read my personalized license plate!
Already did. You can take it off and put on a better motor too.

you know what FORD stands for don’t you?
First On Race Day.

Clive is it true what they say about the bigger the car the smaller the ……
Wolves WILL beat Blackburn 5-1.
FOWB
OK you lot.
Here’s my test picture.
Taken at the Glastonbury Extravaganza a few weeks ago, the night we watched the God of Rock perform with his Sensational Space Shifters.
The significance of the photo is that it was taken right next to half a dozen drunken Baggies fans who were not too happy at the unfurling of the flag.
The PMDG’er soon sorted them out though.
Great result need to sort out the issue re: miss chances lets find out if Clarke,Dicko works or McA Clarke or McA Dicko because sooner or later we will be punished for not taking our chances.
Pic from Express & Star… Danny appears very “proud”!
Could it be that Batth is longer in the shower?
I think therefore I Yam
My test photo. Slowing up, couldn’t finish it in one go !!!
One thing I failed to mention in previous posts but I noticed that in the first half when we were most dominant, a big % of our threat came from the right where Van La Parra was causing their left back lots of trouble. He skinned him more times than I can remember, and the left back gave away free kicks and generally found the wing play from Doherty and VLP too much to handle. It was an absolute pleasure to watch, time and time again, their left back just didn’t know how to cope. However, in the 2nd half VLP hardly got the ball and we seemed a bit less of a threat. Did anyone else notice this?
Rumour has it we’re looking at Andy Delort of Tours FC in France, take a look at the Express & Star
video on Wolves news now. Reminds me of a certain Mr S Bull
And look what he did for the club.
🙂
So a forward line up of 3 French guys (the French Connection is getting stronger), supported by 2 new midfielders…
FCUK meets Saville Rowe?
Does Kenny wants a smarter Jacket?
After last weeks game, KJ said we looked classy at times… Seems we’ll be looking really upmarket now.
Oh please stop me someone… please!
So the rumours are true….
Never mind new French strikers.
Morgan & Moxey are going to do the Ice Bucket challenge on the pitch before the Blackburn match.
That should put a few extra thousand on the gate.
Fantastic news just read that Ohara has had contract terminated by mutual consent! At last the overpaid don’t care can’t take any more money out of the coffers.
Sutton Coldfield Wolf… You are shitting me…
That is fantastic news…
Things are continually moving in the right direction… I’m sure the other big earners will find clubs on loan if no one comes in for them.
Good news about O’Hara both for the club and himself. I was really excited when we signed him and I’m really surprised at the way it all panned out, but at least he smashed a beauty in against the Sh#t whilst he was here.
