A power cut in Wolverhampton threatened to see this game postponed just two hours before kick-off.
Sadly for us, whilst electricity returned to Molineux, someone forgot to flip the ‘ON’ switch to Mick McCarthy’s brain.
That is the only possible explanation I can muster for this limp, snivelling, absurd excuse for a performance; the blame for which lies squarely at the feet of our manager.
Whilst individual performances can certainly be condemned (I’ll get to them in a minute), we’d lost this game before a ball was even kicked.

Now, I knew that QPR were going to play 5 in midfield. Every supporter in the uncovered North Bank knew it. So surely Mick knew it?
Evidently not.
Why else would he fail to do a single thing to combat the extra man that the visitors used to such devastating effect in the middle of the park?
Even before Neil Warnock’s side deservedly moved into an eight minute the lead, the warning signs had been there. We were dominated from the very first kick.
Yet there our manager stood on the touchline, stubbornly refusing to make the changes we so desperately needed, knowing he’d have to accept he’d made a terrible mistake with his initial team selection.
After five minutes, Milijas or Guedioura should have been on for Elokobi and the team reconfigured to go like-for-like with QPR’s shape.
Would this have won us the game? Maybe, maybe not.
Would it have made us more competitive? Unquestionably.
Even after the second goal went in, this still would have been the change anyone with a shred of common sense would have made.
But instead, we persisted with a rigid 442, shelling long balls up to our forwards in the hope of benefiting from a fortuitous knockdown.
How embarrassing.
QPR were excellent and the quality they’ve invested in will serve them well in the Premiership, but they’re far from the purring Rolls Royce we made them look for long spells in this one.
You can critcise the players all day long, but they’re simply not good enough to play with the handicap of one less player in midfield. We’ve seen it time and time again so why do we not learn the lesson?
I’m repeating myself now, but I just simply cannot understand the logic behind Mick’s team selection.
And it’s not just the shape either, it’s the personnel.
A good manager doesn’t make two changes when only one is necessary, but that’s exactly what ours did.
With Fletcher out, instead of just slotting in a proven extra midfielder or having faith in Vokes from the start, he disrupted a settled back four to accommodate a hapless Elokobi in the team.
I know I’m speaking with the gift of hindsight, but that was always going to be the wrong decision. Always.
George was terrible in his 45 minute cameo, simply unable to cope with the pace and movement of Wright-Phillips. In possession, he was equally woeful, slicing the ball out of play in trademark style to sum up a miserable first start.
He was ably supported by an overwhelmed central midfield and two wide players that failed to impact the game in the slightest.
Kightly continues to shirk creative responsibility, always looking for the simple pass and refusing to take on his man in the fearless manner that was once his greatest asset. It’s a sad sight.
Jarvis was constantly surrounded, but on the one occasion he wriggled free thanks to Luke Young slipping over, he somehow contrived to slice the ball out of play, squandering the best attacking position we’d occupied all game. Unforgivable.
Doyle, Ward and Vokes all failed to register a single meaningful effort on goal, starved of service and unable to conjure anything by themselves.
Certainly, without the presence and invention of Fletcher, we lacked a focal point and looked achingly pedestrian, reinforcing the widely held belief that we emerged from the transfer window at least one player short.
Stearman, Berra and Johnson all huffed and puffed but largely disappointed. Still, I find it somewhat difficult to berate them too much simply because they weren’t given adequate protection from the wave of onrushing midfielders.
One thing Mick did get spot on was his after match analysis, naming Wayne Hennessey as the only player to emerge with any sort of credit.
The Welshman did little wrong and a spectacular early save from a Shaun Derry header should have provided the wake-up call to his manager that changes were urgently needed.
Instead, that let-off was merely a taster of the misery that was to follow.
Misery, that in my opinion, could have been avoided.

Mick’s brain doesn’t have an “ON” switch.
The rest of the blog is right on the money.
You will start berating Johnson eventually. He played just as badly as everyone else (well maybe apart from the risible Elokobi and Henry) and he looks to be losing heart.
What I cannot understand is why Milijas has rarely been used. In my opinion he is far better than o’hara and henry. It’s stupid. Not once have I seen a game he has started without a few decent passes and a decent long range effort.
Also I was impressed with Sam Vokes’ mobility and danger in the air, granted his passes weren’t up to scratch, but he was our biggest threat when he came on, I’m hoping to see more from him.
I know I may be biased because I love the guy (as a player), but for the first half i hardly remember hearing someone else’s name than Kightly and for some reason also Ward. Kights was far, FAR better than Jarvis, I think he should have been given the second half as well. You may be right that he always took the easy way out with his passes, but our entire team was dominated and he was the only one that actually got the ball into dangerous positions.
Elokobi was not in shape. I used to find his beefyness endearing, but his main role consisted of jumping on top of guys and kicking them in the back. Vokes wasn’t really much to look at as I’m not sure he actually kept possession of the ball other than just directly giving it away, but my stream was falling apart at this point so I can’t be sure. Henry still is crap, he gave away far to many freekicks, he needs to cool down.
And WHERE is O’Haras confidence? Is he being told by Mick only to play boring passes to the nearest fellow? He used to be able to drive the ball with speed and control and sometimes lunging off that powershot, but he never does anymore.
Must be a bromance – I thought Kites was terrible.
At least Jarvis beat his man a few times.
I’m a Henry fan but if you look at their third goal he turns his back on play in the box, a quite staggering piece of unprofessionalism
We need a pacy forward and better tactics ward shoild of been left where he was obviously and barton is a quality player but needs peggin down a level or ten just because hes paid obcene amounts of doh he thinks hes a philosoher and i cant stand his bravado it would of been good for him to not of been signed by anyone because of his adhd but there is always othere peoplelike him with more money than brains willing to waste there cash
QPR are no mugs, they outplayed newcastle in the previous game. They simply out muscled us in midfield.
I am no expert on tactics or formation, but one thing i new before the game started was it would be very cruel to play Elokobi against Wright Phillips.
Ward at left back could have had its problems but his link play with jarvis and attacking threat are far more effective.
At home i am happy to play a 4 4 2 with our best team (which includes Fletcher), but with ebanks blake out as well i think a 4 5 1. Defence the same, guediora or milijas added to midfield.
I think its to early to make a call on Kightly with match fitness a major factor. I know how good he can be and lets hope he finds the form he had a few years ago, for me on form hes better than Jarvis.
One bad game, apart from that we have played really well.
Fletcher back from injury and bring on Liverpool.
UTW.
To me the problem is MM.
He is stubborn and ‘over’ loyal to bad players.
Last year Milijas was one of our best players.
It is obvious MM doesn’t like him otherwise he’d play him.
Our manager puts his own prejudices above the good of the club.
Misplaced loyalty might cost relegation.
Joey Barton’s comment on twitter is spot on.
The problem is that I believe under another manager our players would improve. Both O’Hara and Johnson seem worse than when they arrived. As for that Terry Connor with his ‘clipboard’, why doesn’t he get up to date and go digital, get an i-pad!
On the other hand there is the dreadful suspicion that our lack of business in the transfer market is due to the ‘cost’ of rebuilding the stadium and Morgan, owing to the ‘recession’, having to ‘cutback’, even if it means we go down….
Hope MM makes me eat my words against Liverpool…..
Very poor performance.
We need to start getting in teams faces again. We seem to have lost the ability to close down and harass players. We stood off them and let them play. I agree with comments about reverting to 4-5-1 and bringing in Milijas, it seems so obvious. A win against Millwall will be a confidence boost – a loss will be bad!
God that was just embarrassing.
For me, with our current squad if Fletch or Doyle is injured we have to go 4-5-1. MM clearly does not rate Vokes as he doesn’t start with him.
I’m hoping that this was a blip and we don’t get anymore injuries.
What a disgrace. The fact that moving Stephen Ward out of defence is something to bemoan says it all. Ok, he’s had a good start, but he’s not Ashley Cole and let’s not pretend he would have shackled SWP. The whole thing is ridiculous, there should have been striking cover bought in. Vokes and Ward up front aren’t good enough for this league nor at the moment is Kightly, but Mick will persist because of performances they put in three years ago. Sometimes he is too loyal for his own good, and as said above, to the cost of the team. If they aren’t good enough, they shouldn’t play – simple.
For people wondering why there’s no Milijas, it’s because he’s got the hump and dared to question MM. That’s why we tried to flog him last month. I don’t agree that he’s better than O’Hara anyway.
Here, here – spot on Rich.
Add Hamill to that ‘cold shoulder’ Milijas list too – Kightly and Adlene looked a million miles away from being up to the pace of the game (and I love Adlene!)
Agree with much of what’s been said. Not aggressive enough without the ball, not incisive or inventive enough with it. A combination of daft formation and team selection, exacerbated by pig headed stubbornness from MM costing us massively.
I also think that these are the same guys we were all drooling over a short while ago, that the club and team are as strong as they have been in my 20 odd years as a fan, and that over the course of the season there will be at least 3 worse teams than us.
Worrying signs from the 3 promoted teams and rovers who all won this weekend, it’s far from a foregone conclusion who will go down. But, when the chips are down, we’ve always had a habit of rising to the occasion under McCarthy’s stewardship, and hopefully the game at Anfield will be another instance.
Having said all that, the mixture of stupidity, naivety, and dogmatic arrogance that saw us try to overcome an energetic 3 man midfield including a pumped up Barton (who, for all his failings as a human being is still a formidable player) with Henry the clogger and O’Hara (who is obviously carrying some psychological impediment at the moment) was worthy of a managerial Darwin award.
Back to the drawing board please Mick. Must do better.
UTW
Agree 100% with yer blog, Thomas me boy.
Only two words to add, and I’ve been repeating them for over a year:
” McCarthy Out”
Can’t argue with much that as been said already, Hunt is the key to playing 4 4 2 as he comes inside to cover with Fletcher or Doyle dropping wide. Now if Hunt is not fit then he should not be on the bench so clearly Mick as to go back to 4 5 1 . At least he admitted he got it wrong bit thats no excuse it won’t take many non performances like that to have another relegation battle. I still think we needed at least two more players in the window , Kites should be getting up to speed on loan , we don’t have quality cover ,and one or two will never be prem players ( Elokobi, berra) .
Enough has already been said about the terrible playing and tactics so I won’t add anything there – we were awful!
It’s a good thing we had a good start to give us a cushion between safety and relegation struggle though – as long as we get back to winning points when we face Newcastle (unlikely to get anything from Liverpool!)
Liverpool are gonna be rocked now! Hopefully next week is the best time to play them.
Yeah, they were, but Wolves don’t exactly have momentum right now… still, if MM gets his tactics right against Liverpool this time…
Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Some of us called for a 4-1-4-1 in the predictions though…
Completely agree and don’t accept view of posters like Tim saying it’s hindsight. An obvious mistake.
A few thoughts:
Read somewhere Mick has been quoted saying: “we were poor, including me”. Suggests he accepts the tactical error.
In the past, Mick has spoken of importance of ‘matching up’. Abandoned that idea.
It’s not as if he is completely anti 4-5-1 having played it lots. But you have to think, if he won’t now do it when 4-4-2 means either Vokes or breaking up back four then when will he?
Mick speaks of Henry & O’Hara being a well balanced partnership. I disagree. They are quite sluggish. It’s a worry.
Hopefully this is the end of the left-back debate. Most of our chances come through Jarvis and he relies on his full-back to get him the ball. Elokobi can’t do it.
Sad to see Kightly like this. He never had silky skills but seemed to play with that non-league enthusiasm that unsettled opponents. If he can’t get that back then he’s a shadow of his best.
I hope Hammill, Milijas, Foley etc see this + Millwall as a chance to give Mick something to think about.
? Did Wolves play on Saturday. If they did I went to the Wolves ground and didn’t see see them play. What I saw as a Sunday League team playing. “Pathetic”
I’ve been reading Barton’s comments and as much as I dislike the prat, what he says rings true. Henry has always talked himself up and talked Wolves up and all it does is fire up the opposition. I for one am not interested in what Henry says, i’m only interested in what he does on the pitch and at the moment he’s not doing much. So Henry if you can’t do it on the pitch please shut the f##k up.
We were taught a lesson yesterday hopefully we learned something from it.
Thomas, I’m so glad you didn’t come back with a ‘look at the positives’ or ‘it could be worse’ kind of post. You’re saying exactly what we’re all thinking. Hopefully someone at the club will come across the post and comments.
If anyone at the club makes a big thing out of Barton’s gestures and comments, they need a kick in the balls.
Yes, we all know Barton is a thug and should be in jail, but what he did on the pitch, gesturing 3 – 0 right at the end, is only what we would have done in a similar situation.
What he said and did pales in comparison to the wind up the so called Wolves team did to us as fans.
They are the ones who should be twittering their apologies, and we are the ones who should NOT turn up on Tuesday.
I know I won’t be there, and neither should anyone else, just to let them know that was one of the worst displays in the history of the club, for which there are absolutely no excuses.
FOMM
I ‘tweeted’ Joey Barton earlier asking if he would like to be our manager for his insight into Henry!
A good analysis and it is unfair to dismiss what you say as the wisdom of hindsight. Putting Ward upfront was a mistake. Not putting the mistake right before half time was another mistake. The tactic of hitting the ball long and hoping was depressing and must stop. We must stop giving the ball away so easily, the passing must improve, the movement must improve. Johnson needs to calm down and concentrate on organising the defence.
If you had bought that game at Curry’s you would be returning it and asking for your money back under the trades description act. I think we all deserve 100plus loyalty points for sitting through 90 minutes of that. If the ingenuity used to extract money from “loyal” supporters was matched by ingenuity on the pitch we would be a top four team.
Thomas i think you are to kind, what a load of shite that was total disgrace.
could’nt believe what i was watching abject to say the least.
why did he change the defence just because he’s, lost one player through
injury he decided disrupt the old lot.ward is not a striker he’s just about got
through playing left back at a struggle.
like i have said in previous blogs we lack strength in depth in a lot of positions that also means in management and coaching.
with only one new signing this term ,Johnson,we look well short for this
campaign
Mr Morgan hope you take stock of what you are seeing its going to be a long
cold winter on this poor showing against QPR.
I hope he proves me wrong,If he’s still here.hope he’s not.
A penny for the thoughts of Adam Hammill? Last season he saw every man and his dog get a run on the wing ahead of him. This season he’s rightly seen Jarvis and Hunt start ahead of him but has now already seen an embarrassingly half fit Kightly start ahead of him and Foley (our best right back by a million miles-please MM play him there!) and now Guedioura (a damn good cental midfielder) get brought on ahead of him. The kid isn’t that bad is he?
As for the team in general, I think it’s time for MM to get back to basics and pick who he thinks are his best players for each position. E.g. Foley right back, Ward left back, and so on. Forget form and favourites, we need our best players in every position. If we get an injury, pick the next best player for that position. Don’t take a bloke from somewhere else in the team that’s doing ok and have to make two changes. Sounds really simplistic but surely it is isn’t that hard is it?!
I agree that Hammill seems to be inconceivably low in the pecking order and that this must be corrected.
That said Hammill did little to endear himself to McCarthy in the short cameo he enjoyed against Spurs, his push leading to the free kick that killed the game for Wolves.
I think a Milijas + Hammill + O’Hara combination gives us the most quality in midfield – don’t get me started on Karl Henry’s recent performances!
The problem is that we didn’t invest in any competition for Henry over the summer. O’Hara and Milijas have far more quality but would surely get over run as a partnership. Alternatives are Guedioura (question marks defensively) and Foley (Must play right back!)
What about Foley in the holding midfield role? He played there for Ireland against Italy didn’t he?
it’s not the worst option in the world but it’s square pegs in round holes again. i think foley is by far our best right back and should be playing there.
I agree with Carl 100%. Where is the competition for the mediocre Henry.
That lack of transfer activity has been our biggest mistake.
4-1-4-1
At the moment that is for me:
WH
Stearman/Foley, Berra, Johnson, Ward
Henry
Jarvis Milijas O’Hara Hunt(if fit)
Doyle
Solidity, mobility (flanks + doyle), creativity (milijas/ohara/jarvis),
When you think about it we have one injury to a first XI player: Fletcher.
And Mick’s reaction to that is to think his choice is between Elokobi and Vokes?
Why not bring in Milijas, Guedioura, Hammill or Foley instead? Yes you change the shape a little but for god sake those four players are AT LEAST one division ahead of Elokobi and Vokes in terms of ability to play football.
Agreed. And even if his decision is between Elekobi and Vokes, at least play the one that would just mean one change!
Agreed.
Foley seems out of favour for some reason; still don’t understand Stears at right back. Please explain?!
Nor me after Saturday – he was a shambles.
Thomas – I was about to come on here and explode about the errors Mick made – I think you’ve summarised it perfectly. Lets hope he learns, despite what happened being blatantly obvious to everyone but him.
The one redeeming factor from this weekend is that Mick seemed to acknowledge he made mistakes – don’t expect to see Elokobi again for a long time and Kightly similarly so.
The saving grace is that we have a winnable game on Tuesday, where hopefully some of those players mentioned through this blog take the opportunity to demonstrate why they should start against Liverpool.
Nenad Milijas please stand up! You have massive support from the fans…
…and let’s hope Fletch is fit.
Despite the pathetic managing and performance, we’re in mid table so to say McCarthy out is ridiculous because I’d certainly take that at the end of the season. Also anyone backing Barton over Henry should take a hard look at themselves as a Wolves fan. Barton may be a better footballer, but Henry’s ten times the bloke, and probably someone you’d rather have in the dressing room. And staying away from games is also ridiculous. You back your team in times of trouble, because if the management’s bad maybe the fans can drive them on. Terrible performance, but we need to forget it and move on.
Rich I agree with your assessment. I’m a Mick McCarthy fan and we’ll learn from this. We’ll be better on Tuesday and next week.
However, if we play 4-4-2 we can’t afford Karl Henry dithering outside of our own 18 yard box and continually playing short passes sideways or backwards, often putting team-mates into difficulty. I think Mick knows this, but doesn’t seen an alternative in either Milijas or Foley or Guediora, which I struggle with.
We do need to back our team – it annoyed me that early boos for Joey Barton were misinterpreted by the TV coverage.
UTW
People wanted MM out after the Tottenham game where we played well! There are people who’d love any excuse to criticise him!
Besides Clive, I mean! 🙂
We are mid table right now, whoopdee do.
We were top for a couple of hours after 3 games, again, whoopdee do.
If we keep performing like Saturday we will be in the bottom 2 before Xmas, and doomed by March.
How many times does it have to be said, McDickwad has no fuckin’ clue about tactics, and should be fucked off now along with clipboard.
We know his siege mentality, you only have to look back at the last 2 seasons, he will not drop his faves and he will not change.
He is taking the piss for another season and he needs to go right now.
In 2009 you posted a blog, Thomas, identifying left back, Ward and Elokobi as problems.
WE’VE STILL GOT THE SAME FRIGGIN’ TEAM !!!!!!!!!!!!
How the hell are we gonna improve if we don’t get fresh faces in, give the young ‘uns a chance, and change our tactics.
How much longer is Morgan going to sit in his office watching ” bad days”?
I’m fuckin’ annoyed!!!!!
FOMM
Who was our best outfield player, once again Clive 😉
Our best outfield player was Hammill, he didn’t put a foot wrong.
There was no one “best’ yesterday, they were all shit.
If you are on about Ward, how did he miss from 3 feet away?
Face it, no one can hold up their head with any pride from that crap turn out.
I also thought Milijas, Foley and De Vries were faultless 😀
Quite shockingly, only two of the (outfield) players I thought put the effort in. Ward and Kightly. Ward was much better at left back, and atleast in his half up front he tried to move the ball. Kightly was the same, but nothing came off for him and he is still way short of match fitness. Would a loan spell be best for him?
And if we play like we did against Fulham we’ll finish in Europe.. I do agree with some of what you say, to a less stronger extent! It’s where we go from here that matters and I don’t think sacking the manager is the answer.
And if my auntie had bollocks she’d be my uncle.
What crap, we are nowhere near to scoring another goal, let alone winning a game, and haven’t looked likely to for the last 3 games.
Admit it, we have a poor squad, and a fuckin’ clueless manager.
FOMM
Aside from the appalling tactics, it was interesting watching the reaction of the players. McCarthy was lost on the touchline. I was watching RJ – there really didn’t seem to be much talk from him.
Wonder how he’ll go about picking the team for Monday night? Wholesale changes or give the team that’ll run out against Liverpool some time on the pitch? Because god know it needs to look different to the one that was out yesterday.
it was simply Pathetic..hopefully a one off
Spot on blog Thomas.
I thought the reason we won the first 2 games playing 442 was that the wingers tucked in and played deeper, leaving Henry to provide some protection for the back four, and some bodies for Ohara to pass to.
It was back to really playing 424 with our wingers isolated and as Thomas said QPR waltzing through our overwhelmed midfeld.
Ever since MM became manager he fails to grasp a three man midfield or more will over whelm our two man midfield.
Every other comment about our lack of depth is dead right, I would add this, Ward up front is a joke, an absolute passenger whose only contribution was to miss aheader from 3 yeards, he is not good enough, yet MM`s other weakness of picking his favourites is an ongoing disgrace.
Dreadful performance and Mick got his tactics totally wrong. Hopefully he can learn from his mistakes, he has done in the past.
I can see us going to 451 at Anfield, especially if Fletcher still isn’t fit. We look like we need someone to help Jamie O’Hara out on the ball, Nenad could be the man and let Henry do the dirty work.
As Rich said, we need to moe on and back the boys.
Does anybody know whats happened to Zubar,he’s nowhere to be seen.
he can do us a job at leftback or somewhere he’s agood footballer,or as he been deafed out for saying something out of turn.,How many more times
must we endure our manager’s dimwit tactics before Morgan gets the message..HE A’NT TAKING US ANYWHERE SOON.
Zubar is injured.
Just a few games in the Premiership and Warnock’s team looks like Barcelona compared to us.
Outplayed and outclassed by the team, outwitted by the manager. And that’s not Man U, that’s frigging Quuens Park Rangers in their first few premiership games. That’s the reality of where our team is now and i see no reason to expect any significant improvement under this management.
Louie you day :
“Dreadful performance and Mick got his tactics totally wrong. Hopefully he can learn from his mistakes, he has done in the past.”
Can you be more specific?
When has MM admitted he made a mistake and learnt from it?
Not since he’s been at Wolves.
He puts his prejudices and bias before the good of the club.
He is limited and limits the team.
It is blatantly obvious.
I’d like to be wrong but again and again, MM proves by his actions that people like Clive, are correct in their analysis.
Henry says on the sanitized site that all the players were at four or five out of ten against QPR.
How does he get to that high rating. If there were a minus number, that’s what they deserve.
And he also says that pre match, McDickwad told them they have to be at a level 7 performance!!
So, our intrepid manager is telling his team to play at 30% below their best?
Is there any good reason for this, or is he trying to lose matches, taking the piss out of us at the same time?
I rest my case.
FOMM
The goal keeper and Ward might get a five – the rest would be lucky to get two from what I saw.
We were beaten by the tenth minute.
Absolute garbage.
Harsh blog – but totally true Thomas.
With the players we have fit and QPR playing five in midfield surely a 4-5-1 formation was what was required. Bring in Milijas and push O’Hara forward anyone?
As for the individual performances they were all bad, but I would like to single out..
Big George – SWP’s first touch was to spin around him like he wasn’t there and it didn’t get much better. Even though Ward played well at LB in the second half it just shows that we did need to strengthen in this position during the transfer window.
Kightly – did nothing for me, he ran around closing down but didn’t make a single telling contribution to the team. He lacks the pace to beat a man and cant pick a pass either. To be fair he looks short of fitness and it’s the managers fault for picking him.
O’Hara – still to have a good game this season in my eyes. He seems to just play first time passes back to the defenders or Henry as he is not finding the space required to have time to pick his pass.
Stearman – what on earth was he playing at? Calamity play at times.
Three other poor decisions by the manager:
Hunt on the bench against a Warnock team with Barton in the midfield? Surely we needed his fight? The only saviour here can be that he wasn’t fully fit.
Adlene doesn’t look anywhere near fit enough to be on the bench much as I love his style of play. Also he keeps putting him on the right when he should be down the middle.
Taking off Jarvis – ok he wasn’t having a great game, but he showed he could beat their defenders (and then hit row z!!!) so he gave us a chance.
QPR deserved to win as we were rubbish. For all the b*llocks I wish Barton had been wearing a gold shirt on Saturday!
I`m still pissed off about Saturday. I say Clive`s mum could have looked ok at left back in the 2nd half, QPR sat back and didn`t need to break sweat with the 2-0 lead. Absolute debacle, if it wasn`t for the fact that I got from Nottingham to Wolverhampton for only £15 thanks to my newly acquired senior rail card, then I`d say bollu*cks to going Tuesday night simply because it can`t be that bad again. Can it?
Oh yes it can! It was as bad as, erm, three home games ago when funnily enough, we went 3 down pretty quickly in ‘that’ glorious defeat. No silver lining to this one though. Just more evidence that we should have strengthened in the window, as we are only one player different to last season’s agonising survival.
I see Emnes scored again for Boro. Why not put in a proper bid for him? Or match Blackburn’s bid for Dann? Or even – heaven forbid – keep Mairehoffer.
If al we are going to do is lump it 50 yards forward all game in the most regid, regressive formation I have ever had the misfortune of seeing, then he’d be a better bet.
Thr gulf in class on Saturday was bigger than any game I have ever seen in 25 years – including Barnsley 0-5 in 1990.
Yet against Fulham we were as good as I can remember.
We HAVE to get Fletcher fit and fast. Then hope and pray no other player gets injured.
Oh, and can anyone remember Doyle’s last shot on target?
QPR away 4th Feb.
I want to be there to see Henry and Barton at 40 paces.
I’m over it to be honest. I thought about the lows and the highs of the previous blog and you know what – I’m sick of having a suspected heart attack at the end of every other game.
Lets move on. Its one game. Lets have a more judgemental look at Christmas and not get too excited.
The big question is why do we have bad games to teams like QPR at home ?
why because we a’nt got strength in depth.
What team will he put out tomorrow?i would put the same team out just to
see how well or bad they play after the no show on saturday..Still think he
should resign if he’s got any morality left,or he’s mugging the club and should be SACKED befor its to late…
MM completely cocked up with his tactics and team selection on Saturday, but that doesn`t fully explain why every single player had a bad game.
Allow me a thought on that. MM reminds me of a bloke who runs a team of 9 year olds, and plays his son every week even though all the other players know he is shite.
At every opportunity he puts his son into different positions where he is even more inept, therby pi**ing off all the other boys in the team, who are so fed up with the favouritism and poor management they frankly couldn`t give a toss.
Short of scoring own goals like the Arsenal defence what else can they do. That could have been WWFC on Saturday. Mijas and now Hammill apparently have upset `dad` by asking him why they can`t get a game. Well its because he has to play Ward anywhere, at all costs, ahead of everyone else, and the poor lad is just not upto it. The day MM loses the dressing room he is finished, well, on Saturdays lack of effort and shambolic performance I wonder how close we are to that.
I like that MGD well said, surely MR Morgan is watching the dross we’er watching no doubt, but what does he do or say nothing..
And as for losing the dressing room the sooner the better and his job..
Wolves were crap. The cracks showed last week against Tottenham when we were crap in midfield. Then QPR, yes that’s right QP F***king R, completely exposed us. I just can’t believe we were so crap in ALL departments. My early season elation has evaporated, now I think were doomed. I hope Moxey is still happy he saved a few million by not buying LB & CB in the transfer season. Incompetent slob!
