The things is, Leeds weren’t very good.
That makes this inept, clumsy, one-paced performance all the more difficult to stomach.
With 20 minutes left when Silvio poked the ball into his own net following Matt Doherty’s horror show, why did it feel like there was no way back?
Probably because Wolves couldn’t complete two successive passes, let alone find a way to break down a resilient, albeit rarely threatened back four.
Even when they went direct the usually reliable Bodvarsson flapped and flailed, unable to reach his usual superhuman standards.
The dream of 442 with the Icelander alongside Nouha Dicko made for a grim reality, with the latter still some way off match sharpness.
Costa and Teixiera shone occasionally but were guilty of trademark physical weakness and poor decision making.
In their defence, Wolves’ build up play was so laboured and one-dimensional it meant playmakers were rarely able to get up the pitch and occupy meaningful positions.
Edwards was combative and Saiss tidy but neither dictated the play or offered a meaningful platform to work from.
In short, Zenga’s selection and tactics didn’t work.
And with just a single point from that last 15 available, patience is wearing thin with a manager who continues to bemoan misfortune rather than the shortcomings of his team.
We’ve spent most of the season pointing to early mistakes, but it was a second half vanishing act that cost us today.
Wolves simply didn’t re-emerge after the break and without any sort of consistency over 90 minutes, it’s difficult to see how this team can be successful.
Accompanying these hot and cold performances is a lack of identity.
How do we characterise Zenga’s team?
Do they press? Do they pass? Do they look to go wide and get crosses in? Are they direct? Are they compact defensively? Do they break quickly?
They’re everything and none of these things at different times and that’s a problem. The game plan is neither obvious or decisive.
The Italian says he’s 100% sure things will improve and after this limp outing, it’s hard to believe he’ll be wrong.
But will better be enough?
Increasingly, I’m not so sure.

If ever there was a blue print on what not to do when you take over a club…….I’m sorry Wolves are it.
Three months in and I don’t know who is responsible for the shambles we are in. Is Walt is is Mendez is it Jeff is it the invisable man the call the director of football.
Questions for Jeff next fans Parlament.
Did Walt chose theses players.
Does Walt have full control over player recruitment if not why not.
Did Walt agree to being kept out the loop re: player recruitment.
If Walt does chose the players we buy who does.
What is Mendez role in player recruitment .
I’m sorry but its a joke Jeff and that not a pun………just when I thought the club I love and worship couldn’t be run ant worse then Forsun show up ……I’m sorry peps but it has to be said.
When Walt was appointed where did Jeff and the board get there advice from…….Morgan and Moxey must be in A&E because they are laughing so much………….fuckin shambles.
No, Walt did not choose these players.
I believe you, but do you have a credible source for that statement ?
I’m sure it was stated by someone.
If he was choosing the players, he would be called the manager, wouldn’t he.
He may have a say in the players but he does not have full control.
they say rats are first to leave a sinking ship and it was a little surprising when king rat himself, jezza decided to terminate his contract early … did he see something we did not … who knows … but your diagnosis is right – what a complete shower this has been.
as Tim states, no zenga had no say in the signings, mendes is pulling the strings, and i wonder how much he pocketed from the 7 million for “ivan a clue” cavaleiro… also, zenga wasnt even first choice, a knee jerk reaction to lopetegui choosing spain over us at the last minute.
there has been two, maybe three decent performances thus far as we head into november. pathetic.
Believe it or not i’ve just been to my local pub and there was an oompah band there. On reflection this seems an apt analogy for this wolves display. Lots of huffing and puffing but very little tune. I have long been uncomfortable about how Kenny was treated…. a dignified competent stoic character who performed wonders in austere and turbalent times, then jettisoned for a bit on unsubstantial glitter with no track record. If things are left asvthey srevwell Rothrrhsm finishbahead of us? Do we have owners with no clue or sense of his history, like Blackburn or Charlton owners?
Despite his telly-genic utterances and appearance, Zenga is not the man. ‘Dugley’ big Sam is on the market, get him while hes still there…if he’ll come.
You want someone who was fired for his immoral behaviour to be the next Wolves manager?
I think the feeling and it has been said many times before, it’s an experienced manager with championship experience that we need, and as it stands at the moment that is a very short list.
I think we missed the boat with date I say it Steve Bruce?
Let’s face it, a newspaper would find something to put on their front page from most of the managers in the league if they sat down to a few dinners with them. Sam is perfect for the job. Someone will have him, why not us.
I was one of those questioning if these young and promising, with undoubtly great potential, could make an impact in championship. Partly they’ve performed decently individually. As a team unit on the other hand they haven’t – consistently. Mason was our goalscorer early on in the season – he has somehow disappeared, and since then we’ve struggled scoring goals. A 4-4-2 formation may be the solution. It is perhaps a bit naive and believe that a switch of formation over night will bring us success. I think we have to wait a couple of matches before we can say if it is a beneficial change of formation.
For me yes…..if by any chance Big Sam (apparently a Wolves supporter) could be persuaded to come to the Wolves grab him with both hands. Zenga is n’t working which is a shame but shot happens so let’s move on .
I can’t see Zenga being at Wolves by Xmas. The board are probably already lining up a replacement. Who’s available though?
As a lifelong Wolves fan and I Was at the match, I agree Leeds were not at their best today, but they were far superior though in terms of work rate and desire and it is hard to take. From today onwards I am supporting leeds as their fans are more supportive than ours….it is very hard not to admire them. Leeds leeds leeds. ?
There’s a difference between support and giving your option I wil carry on supporting Wolves till the day I die, but if I think there’s something wrong with the way my clubs being run ill say so ……..just like the fans of the team you now surpposidly support……..enjoy!
Steve Bruce has 7 points in three games and Warnock has 6 in two games, is WZ the right man for the job with only 1 in 5 ? Is it far fetched to think fate has made Big Sam available at the right time ? Just saying that’s all !
Please see my earlier post.
It’s not working is it. They say money can’t buy you love – well apparently it can’t buy you a football team either, if you don’t know what you are doing. I think Jeff Shi got taken advantage of by Mendez who sold him a bunch of damaged goods for a premium, and capped it with a last minute change of Walter as manager. If Big Sam is available, I say get him now, and give him money to buy in Jan. Otherwise I fear we may be talking about a different division to play in next year, and it’s not the Premier League!
It’s about time Amanda Cape rose from her slumbers and crowed “I told you so”.
We were all delusional and in for a rude awakening.
Bing Walt rubbish and gone by Christmas.
New owners but same old same old.
She might have been tedious, rude and crass but might yet be proved right.
You’re quite correct Thomas.
We are a club with no identity and no real plan.
I suspect that Mr Zenger is living on borrowed time.
If he doesn’t get his, and our, act together soon, he will be on his Vespa.
Bing Walt?
Who he?
As a life long Leeds fan , I was at the game today . I wished that I hadn’t worn my shorts as my fellow supporters kept touching my arse .
It was then that I came to realise that even though wolves were very poor today, everything about them is far superior to us and from now on I’m going to be a wolves fan .
Up the wolves !
Anyway .. as much as I wanted him to do well … zenga out of his depth , he will be gone before Blackburn .
We have great wingers and good strikers but create absolutely nothing
Let’s not fuck about with this Olympiacos dude ( Silvio ) or what ever his name is.
Big Sam is free . Let’s go and get the best manager we never had .
We ve all got something to prove eh ? !
Good point Matt. Are you going to Blackpool
Hiya brompton .. at the moment I’m saying no .. been to a lot of games lately and brownie points running low ( – and the bully Tommo 30 yr dinner coming up as well )
So I doubt it mate but I’m not saying definitely no , just maybe not … or shall I ?
Could do though , not sure.. possibly.
No coach is needed for Olympiacos to win. The system is so deeply corrupted that the referees will never let them lose. So it’s clear that you can’t judge a coach who permanently wins coaching Olympiacos. As for Europe, well it’s a sick story
Every team we play seems to come with a well thought out game plan. Players understand the system and their roles within it. They work together and complement each other. Leeds are a fine example. Not very good but well organized. Compare that to Wolves — seemingly a group of strangers turning up on the day who appear never to have met beforehand, and have no concept of team tactics and objectives. Is it any wonder that we cannot get results ?
Walt may well be very enthusiastic, and a very nice man. But its not hard to see why he has not exactly enjoyed a stellar coaching career. It is surely time for him to quit making endless excuses for downright poor individual and collective performances, and to accept responsibility for the weekly tripe we are having to put up with. Put up or shut up time is here for him.
Over at Villa Mr Bruce has already managed to begin to turn things round, with 7 points from a possible 9, despite inheriting a dispirited, abject bunch of losers. Surely Mr Jeff must now be getting the message that a proven, experience coach is essential if we are to progress. Big Sam is available. He may be unsavory to some, but he has proven he can get it done. We could do a lot worse.
We have become a team that can’t score and we are a team that continually concedes goals.
What a mess.. add the Portuguese influence with aquired players without championship experience (and) an inexperienced manager too ..well, that’s why we are 18TH and loosing points like crazy.
Logically we need to score and not concede obviously and know what to do against these clubs..we are specializing in loosing to the lower league teams (and becoming one of them too)
As I’ve said before all our games are on a perpetual knife edge..
I really rate Zenga as a person but his inexperience here is now staring us all in the face..
I am calling for Sam ..just think how it would be so so different plus we now have the money for him to use.
He would on behalf of Fosun keep Mendes in check too and give us some real direction.
If Big Sam goes elsewhere then what an opportunity missed to put all this right…
We are not safe enough in the current set up overall and we haven’t a hope in hell at the moment to get promoted.
That’s the main plan …. so,Fosun do something and don’t look an opportunity to correct the situation go to waste .
The fans need you to show the difference between the old regime and now..and that quantum difference needs to be proven.
We should of drawn today with a Costa equaliser ..that should of been the real result but even that would of still confirmed we are heading for a crisis..
Bang on mate. So true. I was trying to be sarcastic on the last thread but when I posted it it read as though I had been watching a different game.
We are certainly on a slippery slope unless with turn this round. And I fear that that can only happen with a new man in charge . HELLO Sam, fancy popping down the road mate?
This thread could become the Big Sam appeal..
I agree Steve but think Big Sam would be a backward step.
In the modern era the English manager is a little out of depth.
Look at the Premiership.
Wolves is going through a complete overall whether we like it or not.
At least the new owners have money, but are probably more concerned about ‘virtual’ support, in China and Asia.
I think they will give WZ, (despite him looking a little lost), till Xmas.
Have patience and don’t panic.
Great to see the report up right away. Agree with every word Thomas says about the enigma that is Wolves.
But one word sums up today’s game garbage.
We were lucky to have Kenny and the reaction to him moving on shows how delusional the club’s fans were. People were starry eyed at Zenga after he applauded the fans a few times but he’s tactically vacant, which is proving pretty significant. A relegation scrap awaits…lucky we got rid of that bloke who managed two record breaking points tallies in a row and played pretty good football on the way.
You people worry too much.
Well said Tim.
Some of the conclusions are verging on psychedelic!
I’m really sorry for those who have been going to these last few games with precious little reward.
For my part I’m not yet in the Zenga out camp, still preferring to see where things stand post-Christmas. Promotion this season was always going to be a bit of a tall order.
I’m less of a Big Sam champion following his England adventure.
Going forward, whoever is in charge needs to have total say so on team recruitment.
Interesting times ahead.
Maybe I don’t know much about football, but it seems to me that too much credit/blame is attributed to the manager. No matter what tactics or plans he has for each game, if the players do not perform to their best, then surely the blame must lie with the players. If the forwards cannot hit the target on at least 75% of their shots, there must be something wrong with them. If they cannot get at least 80% of their passes to their own team mate, then surely they are not good enough to be in the team. We were all screaming for a 442 formation to team up Bod/Dicko. Well he did it – and it didn’t seem to work. We are all quite clever as what should have been done AFTER the game.
What’s the answer? Who the hell knows! I know that the standard of the football we have been playing this season is more attractive than the last couple of years, unfortunately it is not so effective. Ultimately, sit tight, it’s gonna be a rough ride!
You said it all with your own questions Vic.
Football a game of numbers…….
A TWO hour drive to the Mol. in expectation.
442 Nouha + Jon Dadi up front, Tex + Costa bombing down the wings and for what??????
Rob Green didn’t have ONE save to make!!!
ONE defensive error (Doherty) ONE opposition goal. Leeds are a poor side for heaven’s sake,
and a TWO hour diive home so, so disappointed.
ONE point out of FIFTEEEN – lets face it that’s relegation form.
Walter + Fosun and a transfer budget of ZILLIONS……….
Kenny Jackett and a transfer budget of MINUS THREE MILLION, the enforced sale of previous seasons player of the year.
Now for all of you who castigated him so badly on this forum (like MM before that)) do you really think Jackett would have made such a pigs ear with all the supposed talent now available?
And now we clamour for a proven championship manager like corrupt Sam Allardice – you couldn’t make it up.
As I’ve already said, when Walt was appointed the elephant in the room was ” who is he?” And he has NO championship experience! Now everyone was think it and a few said I bet you included BUT we were willing to give it a go.
But it just isn’t working, and regarding Jackett yes lovely bloke but lost the plot big time towards the end and we new owners was always going to be relieved of the managers job.
Also who knew the Mendez influence would be so far reaching, as I’ve said if Walt did not chose the players then it not his fault, but just like Jackett should have he should stand up to Mendez or who ever pulling the strings and say, hold on I’m getting slatted but its not my fault.
There is a surreal TV drama in your post Paul…
The game was poor today, I so hoped that Dicko (not yet fit) and Bod (still injured?) would cut it. Bod has been great up until yesterday.
I think Wolves/Zenga have had bad luck, poor referee decisions etc, so I have some sympathy left. Last week vs Villa we created many chances, but could not score. Yesterday, we didn’t turn up in midfield. I like Costa and Tex, but where is Jack Price? Saiss is good too. The only new recruit that is bad is Cav – not a striker and not worth 7M. He could be good, but that might take too long.
No thanks to big Sam. We will be getting a new boss I am sure, but not him. Most of the PL successful teams have European managers. Leicester won promotion in style. We need Jeff Shi to get the right man and sort our the recruitment in Jan – Walt may be out of the loop. I would like to see Thelwell gone and Mendez have less influence in future.
As many have said – who knows what will happen, but Walt, sadly IMO, will be history very soon. Many of us were hopeful, but feared that this might happen.
In cases like this, one can blame the manager *if* he is/was responsible for the signings. He is responsible for selection and tactics and he did OK whilst everyone was on honeymoon. The bottom line is that the squad rotation is not working. There is no stable spine or core to rotate players around.
We probably have enough skilled players, but we do need a plan other than panic or capitulate.
I’m old enough to remember when English men were called Walter. We all know the abbreviation for that name, it’s Wally.
When the takeover took place I thought that we would lose our identity and our tradition. That’s the way it is for me. We seem to have a horde of average foreign players who never play eg Jon and Glavon and apart from Ronaldo and Carvaleho when did a Portuguese player hack it in England?
I have lost the heart and lost the desire but forever a fan.
Lose next week and Wally more, he’ll be gone.,,,,,,,,
Jack Price was sitting in the stands in the family area signing autographs and looking 100% fit.
For me he has always been first name on the team sheet.
Good to see you yesterday jerryd
Pity about the game eh !
I say we sit it out till Christmas and then see were we are then.
we might have a turnaround soon otherwise WZ might heading for the door
Up the Wolves!!
On paper the team that was picked with perhaps the exception of Silvio was the team most fans would have gone for themselves – confidence seems low and we seem to have too many players who shrink into their shell – we need a dominant character to bring the team out aka paul ince, denis Irwin days – perhaps big sam could do it from the sidelines
agreed – i messaged exactly that when i saw the teamsheet … i was also glad that iorfa had been binned, but little did i know that doherty was going to take up the comedy defender role.
No team is ever relegated in October. I’m certainly not in the Zenga out camp. We need some continuity and a little patience. Ive seen Walter change games with tactical substitutions at Rotherham, put out a side that wiped the floor with Newcastle and came close at Huddersfield. We had a great performance at Villa to, away at blues also….Zenga shows passion and animation on the sidelines. The instant success brigade need to reign it in and give Zenga and the players time to show what they are about. This team will not be relegated. This team does have potential and will do better. Whether Jeff Shi and Fosun have the patience to stick with their formula remains to be seen.
Normally I take quite a rational stance with things and am not quick to judge or slate. But I have an uneasy feeling about this. I was always very careful to call for Jackett to go as he had at least earned himself time following success from 2013-15, before the owners cut off the funds.
But here, I’m worried. I’ve been uneasy since Zenga was appointed. We shouldn’t (but naturally will) judge him on his past but so many short stays in so many locations should get alarm bells ringing. I’m increasingly thinking it’s time for him to go, look at the up turn seen by Villa & Cardiff… If Jackett’s Rotherham go above us, that says it all! Yesterday had the feel of a manager disconnected from his players and a group calling out for leadership and clear thinking. How Jack Price has been so sidelined is beyond me… But I am biased as he’s my favourite Wolves player.
On a side note that’ll make Wolves fans smile/despair, I was thinking about how we are always the club against which former players score or other players end droughts. So are we surprised that we as a club have managed to get worse after an injections of millions of pounds from abroad? It seems such a Wolves thing to do – have the excitement of a takeover, then ignore experience that is needed for this league by appointing a completely random manager & signing random players, and be bottom three by Christmas*.
*That latter scenario is still pending, but seeing as the others have happened, don’t bet against it. Unless we act now.
common sense says give zenga time, he had no say in players and very little time pre season, he – like the 12 recruits – also has no experience in the championship…
but right away you then have to ask yourself who the hell created such a situation?
Fosuns ownership is starting to look like a spoilt 4 year old being given 200 quid in a massive toy store, who subsequently goes on to buy a dozen playsets from all his favourite brands and then wonders why the pieces dont fit together.
we have the blind leading the blind … and to top it off, even the ever reliable defence from last season in particular Batth and Iorfa (and doherty after yesterdays display) have lost it.
As Germanwolf states we should have got a manager with experience (or kept Kenny) but we didnt, so million dollar question is how long do we give Zenga. Many fans it seems think we’ve given him long enough already.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3862916/Manchester-United-set-recall-Cameron-Borthwick-Jackson-lack-game-time-loan-Wolves.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490
A few thoughts.
1. I still feel the blame mainly lies with Mendes and Shi. When Lopetegui as manager fell through Zenga was a rushed second option. Many of the players would have been lined up prior to his appointment and even when he came to the club, how much say will he have had? Where is Mendes, he has been to all of one game. He is using our club to offload some of his players when they can’t make the grade at Benfica or wherever. He has no interest in Wolves. The Fosun Group are clueless about how to run a club, thinking money will buy them a ticket to the Premiership.
2. Having too many players is not helping Zenga build a cohesive unit. Look at the players not even making the bench for Leeds- Iorfa, Wallace, Saville, Borthwick-Jackson and Jack Price for Gods sake. That excludes the injured Mason , Evans, Graham, Williamson and Zyro. Also what about all the talented youngsters we have that will never even get near the bench, let alone the team. Where is there the incentive for them to stay long term at Wolves. So what is the point of the academy now?
Zenga is having to making changes to the team to keep the 25 players in first team squad happy. If you take the defence, apart from Batth and Ikeme the rest are being shuffled about like a pack of cards. Hause, Iorfa, Doherty, Silvio, Borthwick-Jackson and Coady. How can you get any understanding? Did Walt want so many options, l doubt it very much. It must be almost impossible keeping the dressing room happy.
3. He is still finding his feet in the Championship and should be given more time. We have shown flashes of brilliance i.e. Newcastle away and the 2nd half against Villa. We all know we need more consistency. Most fans were calling for Dicko to be paired with Bodvarrson so it was worth trying. It is no surprise he does not know his best team or formation yet with the size of the squad.
4. The calls for Allardyce are a waste of time. There is the obvious problem of the baggage he carries but also l think he will lie low for several months before going back into management and that could well be abroad. Who else is out there?
Before kick off I took a picture on my phone of the pitch and sent it to my Wolves son in Dubai where he lives. I do this every game. I captioned the picture – cold, grey and miserable. Prophetic words as it turned out as our two hour drive home was exactly that. I was cold, we are both grey and were both decidedly miserable with only news of Liverpool going 2-0 up to raise our spirits.
Two rumours worried me too. Firstly that WZ’s wife, coincidentally, lives in Dubai and so he flies off to see her every week. A distraction from the business in hand maybe? Secondly that WZ does not tell the players who is in the starting team until they arrive at the ground a couple of hours before kick off. Maybe hard for players to focus and concentrate on a game plan if they don’t know the team so close to 3pm?
In other news Bakary Sako is still not getting any game time at Palace and Benik Afobe plays just the occasional last few minutes at Ballmouth. Both know this division and the club and both were big hits. Time for a return? Sam Allardyce might just agree.
Allardice? Afobe? NO! NO! NO! to those two – Afobe’s attitude when he wanted out absolutely stank and he can’t even start for Bournemouth at the mo”. Allardice should not be allowed back into football for being so greedy.
Backary? Maybe, if we could get him back on loan.
Yesterday Dirty Leeds just bullied us all afternoon – just like Ipswich did and then Matt gilt wraps their goal by losing possession instead of putting it into Row Z.
We lost at Brighton with a similar schoolboy error by Iorfa not stopping the cross.
Small margins in this league, although Brighton were far superior to us.
UTW!
In fairness Afobe was a striker being played out of position in midfield under a poor coach in Jackett and with promises made to him by Morgan and Moxey – like sparing no expense in replacing Sako – being broken before his eyes. I’d be pretty peed off too and wondering what I was doing there. As for banning Allardyce then you’d also have to ban, or have banned, Clough, Venables, Redknapp, Revie, Ferguson, Sven and many, many more. There are no morals or principles in football any more, sadly, and money talks. If we do not take Sam – and maybe now isn’t the time as still early days for WZ, then someone else will. Like Steve Bruce he knows how to get teams promoted out of this division.
Agree 100% with Honleywolf, excellent points made.
Steve Bruce inherited a Premier League team who wouldn’t play for DeMatteo, so obvs they have bucked up now. Likewise Rotherham, were better than the table showed.
No to Big Sam, no, no, no, we need to show some patience, Dicko is not yet match sharp, and we have plenty, maybe too many as some are saying, of options for Walter to use. When the injured players are fit, and adding the youngsters like Bright and Ennis, we must have three teams to put out !
I too was delighted to see the team sheet yesterday, and disappointed to reach half time at nil nil.
But when did Edwards ever ‘dictate the play’ ! It’s in the midfield where we need to improve. We’re missing skillful players like Golborne and McDonald, but they’re gone and the new players need to step up.
Give Walter and the lads time – if the imports don’t improve he’ll drop them, eventually find a winning combination.
Keep the faith !
Agree with Thomas’s summary. Leeds were very poor. Wolves (with the exception of Dave Edwards who performed like a captain without the armband) played like they expected to win at a canter but at some point decided to turn it into a walk. No urgency, no effort to make things happen off the ball, no appetite to match Leeds physically. Without these, Wolves are going nowhere but down. For their part Leeds looked woeful in front of goal. The visitors didn’t look in any danger of conceding or scoring but we duly obliged by gift-wrapping a goal for them. If both sides could have taken 0 points from this it would have been a fair reflection.
Leeds were stronger than us, at times it was is if there defenders swatted us away and we struggled to find a way to get through.
Awful from Doherty who had a poor game. He was also caught out of position for their chance that hit the bar and offered little going forward.
Equally frustrating was Hause. I’m always hearing he’s the next big thing but apparently that doesn’t include the basic tasks of passing and controlling the ball.
Texeira also frustrating. Got it to an exciting position probably once in the whole game.
We’re such a confusing team at the moment. After the Villa game I was full of positivity but two poor performances have followed and there looks to be no light at the end of the tunnel.
For me it’s all about game plan and tactics, how can we play 442 when we revert to 5 in defence, inviting them to attack consequently losing our shape with no outlet for counterattack. No creation in midfield no partnerships across the park.Iceman should have led the line the target man with Dicho in the hole not the other way round as was the case. Why is it we seem to employ coaches with obvious limitations?
Not to worried Jeff/Fosun have only just taken over still pleased the stagnation of last season has gone although even now there is still a bit of a whiff. The deal should have gone through sooner and if KJ had gone a week earlier kMac might still be at the club. If WZ cant get the organisation and togetherness needed for this division they will move on.
I do like the idea of big Sam the England fiasco was unfortunate but the Telegraph went after him. If he was a middle class chappie making his fortune in merchant banking or importing from foreign sweatshops they would have left him alone.
I really don’t know what to think at the minute.
In the summer I was nervous of the recruitment policy of both players and manager. I kept remembering the Solbakken season and hoping that history wouldn’t repeat itself. Unfortunately things are now starting to follow a very similar pattern.
On the one hand I don’t believe in chopping and changing managers, I think you need to give somebody at least a season before you can make any real judgement. But on the other hand I was never sure about Zenga when he got the job and I’m getting less convinced by the week. I know some on here like him because he uses three substitutes and jumps up and down a lot but I just don’t see it. I’m not convinced he’s as good as Jackett, McCarthy or even Solbakken for that matter. I really hope he proves me wrong. I’d be happy if he did.
But the problems run deeper. We need an experienced CEO and board who know about English football. Not Thelwell. Not Butti. Not Mendes. Not Jeff Shi. Fosun are an investment and asset management company – they know bugger all about football.
At the minute I really don’t know what’s going to happen next.
I think we all got excited by the takeover prospect Newt. We saw a lot of players (mostly midfielders) coming in that seemed the goods on YouTube! Personally I don’t think you need to be a genius as a manager. You need to make sure you get the best out of the players you have – consistently. I think we now realise that (A): the highlight reels on YouTube were just that!.Highlights. (B) We never really strengthened our defense. (C) We did not strengthen the attack enough. When all our players play to their standard, we are a great team. As soon as a couple are below par, we fall to pieces. Come Jan I am sure we shall see an investment in a couple of proven goal scorers and a couple of decent centre backs. The rest will fall into place. I just think managers are over rated. Mourinho is meant to be one of the best. Was it his fault Utd got hammered yesterday? At least this team will keep us all chatting 🙂
Right from Day 1 I expressed on this site my scepticism about Zenga’s appointment. And I don’t claim this was particularly insightful of me. I just looked at his abysmal record. The whole cock-eyed set-up with Mendes and buying in bulk was also not too difficult to regard with dour Black Country pessimism.
And as I’ve also remarked here before, it’s just plain idiotic of Zenga to get the players in 4 hours before kick-off to gee them up for the game. I’m sure if I’d had 4 hours of him sounding off and gesticulating in my face I’d be as drained as the players habitually look.
Your Wolves tenure, Mr Zenga, will fit with the rest of your CV. Sad but true.
I had an interesting conversation last night with……………Jeff Shi ! My wife and I stayed over in Wolves last night and went out for a meal to The Queens Cantonese on Queen Street as we always do. As we were eating I noticed a group of Chinese people at a table in the far corner. I said to Sue that it was Jeff Shi although the proprietor wasn’t sure until he googled him. I wouldn’t be rude and aproach him while he was eating so I waited until he had finished and made for the exit. He shook my hand and said that he is finding it hard and there is a long way to go. What was for sure though – he wasn’t a happy man. I think Walter’s days may be numbered.
Getting worried now, we should be picking up points. One in fifteen is abysmal. When I saw the team sheet before the game I was quietly optimistic, but today I’m depressed. Silly for a 64 year old to be depressed over a football team, but it never goes away. Like riding a bike or swimming in the river.
Zenga won’t last if relegation looks more likely after the next 2 games.
Interesting feature in the Programme for every game is the players Q&A on what they would do as coach.
Jack Price’s answers about first name on the team sheet; Joe Mason. Is that a dig at the coach? Also Jack may have a genuine view? Last name on the teamsheet is always Doherty. That was prescient given his calamity yesterday.
The question is, is zenga better than what we had?
Jackett got a lot of flack in his last season but what he did in the first two deserves more credit.
When given the cash to spend jackett always got good value, it was when he was forced to scour the bargain basement that it became more hit and miss. We have buckets of money and have really only picked up one player that looks consistently good enough for this level in the bod. Everyone else much like our manager has flashes of brilliance but is intimately inept.
I wouldn’t advocate big Sam personally think you can’t be successful long term playing his kind of hoof it tactics it’s good for a bottom 6 team in the premier league but it reaches its limit as shown by mad Mick. Once your in the big league it’s too late to change style. We should look to get a footballing manager in, give them free reign to build a possession based team and build from there, it will take longer, but when we get up we will be far more effective.
I don’t think a manager should be judged after 14 games!!
It’s going to take time. Isn’t that obvious?
And by the way, this is the Championship not League One. It’s a tough league with an established squad let alone a brand new one.
Come on lads.. see sense. We’re not even at Christmas yet.
The problem is Kford, we seem to be getting worse, not better.
Mystifying that we didn’t invest heavily in a proven goalscorer and commanding centre-half and for that I think we have to blame Thelwell. I’ve been enjoying the football better under Zenga and Fosun. Zenga should get more time IMHO but if we lose to Blackburn in front of the TV cameras I fear his time will be up and a new Mendes man will be in.
Will Zenga, will Zenga, will Zenga Make it to December,December,December oooohhh oooohhhhh…….
It’s a result based game and results are getting worse. It’s a no brainer
So what did a trip up from London to watch Wolves yesterday tell me?
1. Virgin Trains Wi-fi is crap and almost non-existent.
2 Virgin Trains are overcrowded.
3. The Clarendon has been gutted and is being “modernised”. I started to sup regularly in The Clarendon in 1964 and part of it’s current charm is that it’s hardly changed since the 1960’s. Thank goodness the Combermere hadn’t changed.
4. Leeds played like a team and played for each other. Wolves played like a bunch of individuals who each hoped that one of the other blokes would have a stroke of genius and score a goal. There was no rhyme or reason to what they did.
5. When Bodvarsson is taken out (or not playing) then Wolves are rudderless and lost at sea. This used to happen in Jackett times when sides sat on McDonald.
6. Kyle Bartley had Jon Dadi (and anyone else who came near him) in his pocket. He’s the type of commanding centre-back we’re sorely missing (he’s ex-Arsenal and on loan from Swansea).
7. Leeds had a game plan and played to it. They were after a draw. Even before the goal went in Leeds throw-ins were taking 30- 45 seconds from the ball going out to coming back in. Longer for goal kicks. Whenever Wolves started to get a head of steam a Leeds player went down and needed at least two minutes treatment. They just broke up the run of play on a continuous basis. Frustrating, but very effective, and fair does to them.
8. I couldn’t figure out what Wolves game plan was – maybe ‘let’s suck it and see’.
9. It was sad to watch Hause almost fall apart before our eyes in the last 15 minutes – his confidence was completely shot, but by then Zenga had his three subs on.
10. Zenga needs time to make it work – but to be a consistent side like Brighton takes time.
11. Allardyce – do we have no scruples??? Or are Ethics merely a County what’s East of West Ham?
our title sponsor is a loan shark – if that answers your concerns about ethics 🙂
Read the Oliver Holt bit in The Mail on Sunday re Allardyce.
Seems like he was only explaining the rule as it stands not offering advice on how to get round it.
Big Sam sacked because the old farts at the FA got cold feet.
We should take him like a shot if we get the chance.
Agreed regarding The Combemere. 🙂
If, as we understand, Jorge Mendes pulls the transfer strings at Wolves nowadays, then you can all give up on Big Sam or any other proven British ‘MANAGER’ taking the reins at Molineux. They won’t work under those conditions.
Our performances become ever more disappointing after such an encouraging first few games, achieved largely with the old guard plus Bod Tex and Costa. It’s not about time to gel. It’s about commitment from the players, tactics by the manager and a sensible transfer policy. Bruce’s Villa haven’t needed time to gel.
I really want Walt to succeed but increasingly fear the worst.
By the way. We’ll never know for sure but if KJ had been funded for 4 or 5 top quality additions, we’d be in a far healthier position than we are.
I was all for Zenga but his chequered CV and his inexperience in the Championship are starting to look very ominous. The “too good to go down” card is too dangerous to play. I personally think Zenga will turn things around but it’s not my money on the line. We may have again missed a trick in not hiring Steve Bruce.
Also I don’t think mr shi is going to give w z until December
He sanctioned all that fosum money on bad advice … he now looks bad and I dont know his standing within the organization but how secure would his position be if bad judgement cost the company millions .?
Apparently miracles of management can’t be guaranteed even by the likes of Pep ans Jose !
I’m reading the, majority of your reviews
And patience is a word keep.propping up
If we go another 3 to 4 games without scoring let alone picking up.points we,will be in the, shit
I don’t want to leave it too late getting in a new manager and going down again!!!
I like Zenga but Zenga is getting paid to do his job
I don’t get paid for supporting wolves, but I have to put up with a lot of,shit
I can’t give you answers if to get rid or,stay put with Zenga or,name a replacement but I’m getting a bit worried, we arnt even scoring bloody goals now. Up the wolves from a very pissed of,wolves fan
Just looking at WZ record, he’s already been with us longer than 8 of the clubs he’s managed!
So he’s done well to last this long by his standards. Personally I can’t see how he will turn it round. Not sure what the answer is, too many player changes, no-pre season, players not up to speed etc… or a combination of everything.
On the bright side, I don’t think Fosun will be too alarmed to try a new plan/manger. Remember they don’t know how to run a football club so their’s inevitable teething involved, but I don’t think they’ll shut up shop and run us on a shoe string like some owners do when they get there fingers burnt. I do have faith they’ll keep plugging away to get this to work.
Interestingly I was trying to read Fosun’s internal literature to find something about Wolves and we are barely mentioned. The only thing that mentioned us, just said in one sentence ‘Fosun have bought WWFC who are at best a second tier club’ and that was it. I think we are perceived as very small fry in their business world, and not even advertising us a major investment for them. I think 25+ million investments in players is nothing to them tbh.
I don’t think Zenga will last until Xmas, but don’t panic because we have very good owners who won’t give up at the first hurdle.
Paul cook makes a good point.
During the first few weeks of the new regime everyone was excited about the new players being drafted in, the manager was an ex Italian international (albeit a goalie!) and all in the Molineux garden was rosy.
The season began and we had a decent start, top six and finding our feet in some stuttering games transformed by Walters decisive half time talks and willingness to change the side with the subs. So far so good.
Then came Barnsley.
I don’t know why, but since that result (and the typical Wolves response of nailing mighty Newcastle on their own coal heap) we just seem to have bled confidence and even more concerning, appear to have lost team cohesion.
Like Cooky, this concerns me greatly.
Now I don’t want to see us panicking and rushing to ex England managers (anybody remember Graham Failure and Glenn Twaddle?) but we have GOT to be aware of the depressing fact that the players appear to becoming immune to Walter’s team talks and dare I say it, even Bod seemed to come down to the level of his compadres on Saturday, with a display well down on his normal heroics.
Now I’m willing to accept this as a one-off or the classic ‘bad day at the office, but while I’m no panic merchant, I don’t believe in burying my head in the sand either.
The good thing is that we’ve been in much worse scrapes and what don’t kill ya….etc.
Anyway, I’ve exhausted my cliché quota for one day.
UTW
Vincent Kompany.
Going to get regular footie at the Etihad?
No
Proven leader?
Yes
Injury susceptible?
Yes
Worth taking a gamble on?
Most definitely.
Together with Bastian Schwiensteiger, who is out of favour at the other Manchester club, I think we should show our seriousness by getting these two, on loan at least.
We need to get IN the Prem, and worry about Prem quality players once we are there.
The older heads will know they will be stop gaps, but will also get well paid, so could do a job then move on.
We don’t know if Jeff reads this blog, and we don’t know how much, if any, face he is losing because of our form.
Hopefully you read this, young sir, and are reminded of that old adage, which I just made up, about a footballer spurned by a club is a footballer with a grudge and a point to prove.
The two mentioned above might well fit into that category, and could do a lot of good down the Mol.
FOwb
Kompany & Schwiensteiger? Come January 1st these guys will probably be available, but on loan to the Championship? No way. They don’t need to drop a division. If they’re unwanted at their clubs, they will be sold, not lent out. If by some miracle we go up this season, then we could attract players of their calibre and situation.
Get real Clive.Been drinking some strong American pale ale recently? Pre season plenty of players who have never even heard of the Championship were mentioned as potential signings and I see its happening again.
While out for a meal this weekend I was asked which Wolves player that I’d seen would I like to parachute into the current team to make the difference. After a bit of headscratching I decided it would have to be Mike Bailey. Now there was a true captain, a manager on the field and an excellent player to boot who drove the team from midfield. We are currently overrun with midfielders but none unfortunately who can get a grip of the game and none either who can pass with any degree of accuracy on a consistent basis. On the other hand we’ve got a few who can run with the ball, maybe beat a player but then lose the ball when running up a blind alley. Then there’s the defence (oh my, at least one of the four seemingly makes a blunder that leads to a goal in every game ) and a shot shy attack.
Others may not be worried but I am. The scattergun approach to our summer acquisitions is coming home to roost. No one to my mind sat down and analysed the priority positions requiring strengthening. More likely it was let’s get lots of continentals in as they are bound to be better than the bunch we’ve inherited.Well not necessarily so!
Strong American Ale is a bit like Scottish goalkeepers, or Military Intelligence……………..an oxymoron.
(And Wolves defense, come to think of it!!)
Now if you had said strong American Craft beer, then that’s more like it.
And yes, I have been drinking some, but not today.
Why cant our owners think outside the box?
If they are prepared to pay the wages, why not borrow some unused talent?
The clubs who own them can still sell them down the road.
And, playing in the Second Division would keep them match fit, and might even get them a bigger transfer fee.
Shop window and all that.
We got nothing to lose by asking, have we?
Just coz it aint bin dunn before dough meen it cor be dunn now, do it???
fowb
I agree with you totally Clive.
Vincent Kompany is just whom we need.
I am sure Jeff Shi can offer him as good a salary as anyone and with his strong, experienced presence in the centre of our defence, we’d make the play offs.
Not to mention the German chap.
Fosun could buy us an undefeated run from the transfer window till the end of the season.
Passion is not enough. Otherwise is enough to hire fans instead of professional coaches.
Not passion is important to be a coach, but knowledge… and WZ is a second-rate, low quality coach.
Just check his CV.
According to the Express & Star, Zenga is away in Dubai on a family visit, AGAIN. Last time it was actually unauthorised. Since that unauthorised incident we have gained one point only. Relegation form. The extra strain on Zenga of being far away from his family may be too much for Wolves.
I know Big Sam is a bit toxic, and his liability for a ban may be a factor against him, but we could hardly hire a better coach for promotion. Soundings could be taken on the potential ban to determine if concerns are real or not. A Portuguese coach called Marco Silva is also mentioned, but with our backs against the wall I want a real ass-kicking done-it-all Brit. Malky Mackay is another possibility, but is he too toxic?
Bollocks to what Allardyce has done before, the only thing that matters is what he does for Wolves, if he joins us.
Football authorities talking about morals and ethics, whilst the Blatter spectre is still fresh in everyone’s minds?
Gimme a break!
Scruples, morals and ethics have been in the bog ‘ole since Abramovich started the financial nonsense at Chelsea.
Money is all that matters, and we need to get with the programme.
Fosun are here, lets join the fuckin’ party!!
I want to see Wolves performing at the highest level, and I don’t give a shit how we get there!
Who can honestly say we would not celebrate a Prem title, however we got it?
On that note, perhaps we should appoint Brompto, he seems to know his way around the rules!!
I was thinking over the weekend and I’m now of the mind that if a really good manager is available and interested, maybe Wolves should go for it. Look at what Liverpool are doing now to a large part because of their manager (, I would think).
I’m not saying to change just for the sake of change but if a budding superstar manager is available and would be willing to go to Wolves, it might be a good move to snap them up.
What about this Marco Silva guy from Portugal?
Does he have a good record or would he be a big gamble, too?
I think Wolves have to look to get a manager that non-English players would be attracted by. In the Premier League, most of their new players will be foreign.
Very interesting interview with Dangerous Dave in E and S tonite. Talks of showing passion. Desire.Putting in tackles BUT this needs to be shown in addition to ‘talent’. When you get a senior pro like Dave Edwards ( who to be honest knows what Wolves is all about) saying basic things like this tends to suggest all is not well in the big scheme of things.
On a positive note (I always like a positive note) the under 23s beat Norwich U23s tonight at Carrow Road. On another positive note, there’s been no sign of the delightful Amanda recently. She must be bored.
Perhaps she’s been run over by a bus. Probably the 27A from Gornal to Dudley (via Wolverhampton). In a round about way.
Many supporters seem to favour a change of manager at Wolves. Why is it that when things are not going right, the manager is the first person to replace. Surely wouldn’t it make more sense to see where we are lacking on the field and try to rectify THAT problem? I think we all agree that a decent goal scorer and a couple of solid defenders would improve the situation considerably. Would a new manager ensure there are more shots on target? would he make sure there are no defensive blunders? Would he make sure there are no passes going astray? Would the standard of the football played at Mol improve? I just hope we won’t go into another session or replacing umpteen managers over a short period of time when really there seems to be more urgent problems to sort out. Just saying.
I’m in the camp of us not rushing to change the manager, the football we are playing under Zenga interests me a lot more than watching KJ’s sides. We had a good run in Div1 but as Iv’e said many times we should have done with that team and the players were playing at there level then. The new crop of players are far better than what we had and the football they play more entertaining IMO.
It is stating the bleeding obvious that we need two decent full backs and a couple of decent strikers who know how to slot the ball in the oninon sack. We all mooted thIs when we were buying the 13 new players, why buy so many midfielders when we needed proven goalscorers and folk to stop goals leaking in.
I don’t blame Zenga for that, this is what he has inherited and he has to wake up smell the coffee and deal with it. I am judging him on his tactical nous and his coaching styles, how he gets his team to perform on the pitch, which at the moment is being spoilt by individual errors all along the back four and the front row who can’t score.
We don’t have anyone to stick the ball away at the moment and can’t seem to buy a goal. At the same time we are letting crazy school boy errors cost us vital points, all is not lost it’s only October and I can be patient for a little longer, but Walt needs to get his shit together because people are showing their feelings by staying away or teeming out of the ground when they see how hopeless it is out on the pitch as soon as a goal goes against us.
Fosun will know the problem, Walter knows the probelem and us the paying punters will certaimly tell them. I’m as pissed off as the next guy but I want to see if he can get it sorted before going through the hoop again with a new manager who has to discover his best team and then get them to gel and play his style of football. But that same new manager as it has been said time and time again on this thread will still have four piss poor defenders and no proven strikers apart from Dicko, I feel also that Jon Dadi is feeling it at the moment and his last couple of games have been poor by his high standards.
Come on Fosun, there’s talent out there being sold, Kompany and Schwienstieger would dominate this team and league, this would take the pressure off the midfield and forwards who could surge forward like other teams do to us and cause such havoc.
So there you have it Fosun, simple.
Two new proven strikers and a whole new back four or two central defenders at least, to stop the rot and bring the crowds back.
Spot on Stu.
But Fosun have lost patience (see Walt’s sacking below)
Personally, I would have given him until Christmas with an agreed replacement waiting in the wings.
Shades of the 2Ms with Solbakken?
UTW!
Same was in Italy,
After a defeat WZ flies to Dubai despite President asked him to not fly in that difficult moment.
his passion and commitment to the job is limited to press conferences
I might be very much mistaken but isn’t today a very special day?
I think that a very special person first graced the World with his presence umptynine years ago this very day.
Surely we must all wish him the best on this most hallowed of all days.
Many happy returns to the great man!
Come to think of it, I reckon it might be Clive’s birthday as well.
What a coincidence.
The only defence fans seem able to mount is a noble call for patience. This is about as useful as the players backing him off the pitch. Cannot see him lasting 2 more games without a victory and i have my doubts whether he wil get one. He justs seems to be expecting the flair players to deliver the results and everything else can take care of itself. Aint going to happen.
Express & Star reporting Zenga has been sacked.
No comment from club yet.
So is BBC Sport!
And Sky sports.
Onwards and Backwards.
To coin another 90s pop song ” Whoop there it is” No dilly dally, no waiting till January transfer window closes, done and dusted. Thank you Walter for semi steadying the ship in our transition, we all suspected this was a temporary appoint after all. Know please get a manager with English league experience and who’s worthy of this club.
I have to say I’m not surprised Zenga is gone. Fosun are ambitious. They will not put up with an under-performing coach who flies to Dubai for a family jolly, against advice, when the team are down and out. The club and the fans deserve absolute commitment and dedication.
Thomas. You were right. Zenga is a loose cannon with a short-attention span. Charismatic, yes, rough diamond, yes, exciting, yes. But a safe pair of hands who can put a promotion challenge together in the Championship, NO…
Not really that unexpected I`m afraid. Its a results based business, and it was going tits up.
On the other hand, a great quiz question. On whose 65th birthday was Walter Zenga fired?
Happy birthday Clive.
The new manager has probably been appointed already, just waiting for the dust to settle. Could wwfc be Big Sam`s greatest challenge……..!!
Living in a hotel going back to Dubai Portuguese players that get kicked ..we can’t score goals and we concede like a sieve..
Even Walters passion can’t get through all this ..he was one of the most likeable in the shortest amount of time ..but tears on the floor and the show goes on..
Is you know who getting ready or has Mendes done a pre-strike ..I’m not so sure this time and I believe the Chinese read all the fans media threads too inc this one.
Oh ..happy b day fence man !!! historic in someways then…!
So it’s goodbye Walter Zenga after what must be one of the shortest tenures in our club’s long and distinguished history.
Should he have been given more time? Personally, I feel he was already on borrowed time and to give him more would be time wasted on someone who was proving himself to be, shall I say, ill-equipped for the job. Lovely fellah absolutely, but our team has been gradually going down the tubes. From the early season victory over Reading and the euphoria that generated, it has been downhill all the way apart from a half here and a half there. Not enough to match our new ambition.
I sincerely hope that Fosun have a suitable replacement lined up already and they give them both the tools and the freedom to do the job successfully.
I see we’ve waited until Steve Bruce has got a job before sacking Zenga so there isn’t an ideal candidate with a proven track record at promotion readily available.
Unless perhaps the stage is set for the boyhood Wolves fan from the Wrens Nest to save the day…?
Nah, probably some bloke from Portugal or Greece already lined up.
So who’s next for the poisoned chalice that is wolves?
Big Sam? Doubt he’d be happy letting somebody else choose transfer targets after all that would cut into his “ahem” cut. Plus do we really want the return of hoof it football (admittedly after zenga it would be good to have some sort of agreed style of play).
Curbishley? Surely not after this many years? Sherwood? Di Matteo.
One things, for sure it probably won’t be who we’re expecting!
Pity about Walter. Was good at times. But one good game every four does not get you very far.
So here we are bottom half with a lot of foreign players and most on loan. DJview, I been here before…Dean Saunders is available…
Come on Jeff get some good advice. If you haven’t already.
I believe Jeff will be reluctant to make a quick decision now. There is likely to be a longer recruitment process with the Sporting Director involved.Zenga was Jeff’s ‘Dean Saunders moment’.
What did I tell you Saturday after the match when you hadn’t got past Birmingham you Bedford lot, bags packed, Sam Alladyce was a contender.
You were right and Mike (BOG) was wrong. But then again when is he ever right?
I don’t think it will be a domestic manager, I think Fosun will get someone bigger from Europe.
I’m hopeful and very wishful it’s AVB (Portugese, out of work, on Mendes’s books, young ambitious..)
I really hope it isn’t AVB. He was an unmitigated disaster at Chelsea and then the same at Spurs. All my Chelsea and Spurs mates hated him at the time. Remember when Spurs lost 5-2 at Arsenal and he came out and said Spurs were the better team, had controlled the game from start to finish and deserved to have won? He is deluded – a legend in his own front room only.
A list of ideas being bandied about, but just been told AVB is in favour??????
We were shocked with Zenga’s appointment so I’m expecting the same with the next one. Anyone know Mendes’s number so we can give him a call.
http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/wolves-next-manager-eight-candidates-12075991
It’s never boring being a Wolves fan is it?
Allardyce 10/10
Silva 4/10
Villas-Boas -0/10
Giggs 5/10
Ayerstaten 1/10
Pearson 3/10
If we want promotion then it has to be Sam Allardyce. Similar mould – managerially not morally – to Cullis, McGarry and Turner. We need some English grit and experience to go with our skilful foreign legion.
Mendez’s number is 10%.
I can’t say I’m surprised, 1 point in 15 is simply not good enough and despite the players claims yesterday that they fully support Zenga, it was pretty clear that the situation was untenable.
WZ was an odd choice, a very chequered CV with little to no notable success and most likely a knee-jerk reaction to Lopetegui taking the Spain job, but for whatever reason he failed to enhance his reputation at Wolves. Perhaps the circumstances were simply too difficult, no pre-season, no scouting, no experience of the Championship, no clue who his best XI was.
I feel for him but I’m sure he’ll be working again before too long.
Who will be next? I think it’s clear that we need a Manager with Championship experience. It’s a tough league to get out of as our record over the last 30 years shows.
I don’t think Fosun will touch Big Sam, he’s too toxic at the moment and we simply don’t know what further punishments await him.
I’d take Harry Redknapp if he could be persuaded to drive further North than London but as that seems an impossible task I suspect he won’t be the next manager.
The Special One, another Mendez manager, might be available soon but I think he’d see us as too difficult a challenge and wouldn’t risk further harming his already damaged reputation.
I’m sure names will come forward over the coming days and I probably won’t have heard of too many of them. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that whoever gets the job can instill a winning formula into the team. There is a lot of individual talent throughout the squad and it needs someone who can collect it all together and put us back on a winning way.
Changes at Molineux
Manager : Clive from Houston
Coach : The DOOGooder
Fitness Coach : Stu Wolf
Head of Communications : Ben & Thomas
Sorted.
You’re a man of impeccable taste and judgement sir.
Always said so.
I can do merchandise ………. if you want
Recent reports suggest that Big Sam did not actually do anything wrong and his sacking was a panic decision. He explained the rules on ‘third party ownership’ and discussed how people had circumvented them in the past. That – to my mind- is not breaking any rules. He also made it clear that any payments for ‘speaking tours’ would have to be cleared through the F.A. before he could commit to anything. Bottom line is – do we want to be promoted or not???
If we do then we need an experienced Championship manager and there is only one obvious candidate. It’s time to end all the ‘moral/toxic’ bollocks and appoint Big Sam!!!
Whether we seriously want promotion or not, Fosun have certainly set their stall out with this sacking. Success or nothing. Good for Wolves fans but hard on managers. But feck em, they get paid shed loads more than we ever shall.
Agreed stu. This is a cold hard business decision and the only question is: who is the best bet to get us promoted? To my mind there is only one candidate. We have put up with too much mealy mouthed bollocks from SM/JM etc over the last 10 years and we now have the opportunity to end all those miserable times. Let’s hope Fosun get it right this time.
Rock on Bedford ..
We need a canny manager who can see what to do and he can see good..
WestHam was an example but this time he’s got some real dosh behind him..
I can’t see anyone better ..More so he’s available.. should grasp the job with both hands after all the other crap…
Perhaps we can save each other …
(and he likes a pint and a packet of scratchings..)
Lots of news today. Firstly, my. Bro has been moved from the critical care list so things are looking better. He is still not out of it yet but he is strong.
Secondly, bye Zenga thanks for trying
And last but not least, happy birthday Clive
Thanks, ugly
Glad yer Bro is improving
Bugger Clive
Bugger Zenga
We wish your Brother a speedy return to normal mate.
Well maybe not bugger Clive, after all, it is HIS 65th BIRTHDAY today.
And I did phone him, just at a reasonable time, (broke my feckin Scottish heart)
That should say *Fosun and **looming. Thanks, autocorrect.
