The final home fixture in this catastrophic season perfectly befitted the occasion, neatly summing up our miserable campaign inside 90 minutes of painfully dull football.
A bright start, a brief flicker of promise before ultimately descending into complete farce.

If that second half is what TC defines as ‘progress’, I’ll pass thanks.
With our attack completely blunted for the last half an hour, the only thing missing was the customary defensive brainwave to hand the opposition the points they seemed to so desperately crave.
Credit to the back four and indeed the team for that. They defended manfully from the start and made sure that a good Everton side were made to work for their chances.
Elokobi got the biggest cheer of the day, bouncing on to replace the stricken Christophe Berra and capping a fine cameo with a beautifully executed bicycle kick.
Lovely stuff George.
But when the highlight of an afternoon’s football is two drunkards lolloping onto the pitch with a paper cutout of the FA Cup and the South Bank pretending we scored a goal, you know something isn’t quite right.
And as has so often been the case, the quality of the chants emanating from behind the goal was in no way matched by the quality out on the pitch.
Without the forward thrust of Matt Jarvis at their disposal, this Wolves team just appear clueless about how to forge any sort of opening.
Henry and Edwards huffed and puffed in the center of midfield but neither have the vision or technique to open the gates.
The same can be said of the effervescent Stephen Hunt, who showed trademark tenacity but offered little to the game as an attacking force – save for scooping over a rare Wolves chance after an even rarer passing move.
Michael Kightly was also muted. Every time he had the ball he seemed to determined to scamper inside rather than attacking the line, always running into traffic and losing possession. Much more should be expected of him.
Fletcher and Doyle, starved of any real service were dominated by Jagielka on the odd occasion the ball did squirm into the Everton half. You’ll never convince me that they have or ever will forge a fruitful partnership.
In the last two games we’ve seen the major predicament that faces this group of players.
They can either play as they did against Swansea, creating chances but leaving themselves wide open at the back or, as they did yesterday, sit in and make life difficult for the opposition without offering anything going forward.
And as we know, in order to win football matches, you have to strike a balance between attack and defence, which is something that’s currently beyond TC and Wolves as a team.
Surely this much is obvious to our chairman? Or maybe not.
The fans crave decisive leadership and the sense that someone upstairs in our club realises these most fundamental of issues.
Instead, we were rewarded for a season of loyal support with a half-baked lap of honour and silence from the top brass.
Like I say, a befitting conclusion.

Well what an anti-climax that was. I read all the posts on here and almost everyone is anti Moxey including myself. We all go on about how we should force him out of the club, hold demonstrations, start petitions etc, etc.
We, as supporters do not have the ear of our owner, nor do we have a voice inside the club. So the only occasion we have to let our feelings be known is inside the ground on match day. Yesterday, being our final home game of the season was our last opportunity to voice our wishes and let Morgan know we aren’t prepared to be walked all over, shit on and blatantly lied to by the greasy weasel any more.
Now try as we might, (my two mates and myself) to get the anti Moxey chants in to full voice we failed miserably. Those around us were completely apathetic and non responsive to the cause. Yes there were some anti Moxey chants but if every one detests the man as much as they claim on all the blogs and message boards we should have been at it with venom for the 90 minutes and beyond. I honestly believe he is the root of all evil within the club. HE’S A BEAN COUNTER FFS. You could write on the back of a postage stamp with a felt tipped pen everything he knows about football and yet he’s the man morgan leaves to run the club. Let him count beans if we have to but F*** me anyone with a modicum of common sense can see we need a man with a football brain/background running the football side of things.
It completely pissed me off that the South Bank were more intent on singing about going to Barnsley or the left side singing over the right side and the middle. Good humoured banter between the supporters i know but Morgan must have been sitting up in the directors box thinking “hey we’ve got away with this, the fans are in good humour, we’re not getting an overbearing amount of flack, everything’s quite jovial. Great, we’ll just carry on as we are then….. Jezzer can stay, I’ll invest my money in Redrow, the club can have a poxey little transfer budget and these numpties will keep giving me their dosh to boot. Hey ho, happy days and every things tickety boo.
Well guys all i can say is we missed the boat yesterday big time.
So i ask you all hand on heart, how can we post messages on here saying Moxey is the cancer that must be cut out of our club or complain about how we’ve been lied to and shit on when we aren’t prepared to do anything constructive about it? Are all the FOJM signatures on here purely added to gain favour with other posters or are we really when push comes to shove prepared to stand up for what we believe to be best for our club?
For me judging by yesterdays Jovial and convivial atmosphere, i have to say i think not. After one of the most depressing, embarrassing, shameful and humiliating seasons we’ve had to endure. It would appear we will still be prepared to roll over, have our bellies tickled and take what ever’s shit’s coming and believe me judging by the boards performance this season its coming big time and in very large quantities.
Yosser, whilst I genuinely do have sympathy with you, the last thing that we (the fans – the true owners of this club) should be doing is criticising each other. All fans want the best for the club but we decide how best to take it forward.
Me personally I think supporting the TEAM DURING the match is what I should be doing and I think that is what the SB (in particular) did yesterday – there was precious little footballing to be admired so we concentrated on self-depreciation and our legendary humour.
I think the SB was correctly waiting for the ‘lap of appreciation’ to be undertaken and then listen to what was said before venting (if venting was required – no mistakes I expected to as I was waiting for the same old arrogant spin and guff from M&M) – but we never had that opportunity (I’ve posted already on that shambles already) – at that time I think most fans were like me – lets just “fuck it and go”!
I think the next few weeks are vital for the club to restore a connection with the fans – I’m not sure we will get it because for all Moxey’s ‘best football administrator’ tag it is painfully obvious that PR and media/fans relationship at the club is woeful – at that I think is something that needs to be addressed urgently alongside the overhaul of the footballing side of the club.
And just think when I’m at Wigan next Sunday I can be loud and proud as Bolton are relegated with us – now that’s something to smile about 🙂
Admire your point of view ‘Wonderwolvesboy’ but I think Moxey and Morgan are relying completely on fans taking the attitude you are to promote their latest business venture, transmuting ‘Wolves into “Redrow Wanderers.”
After all, with ‘Wolves’ fans ‘legendary sense of humour’, they can get away with anything and the fans will continue lining their pockets, as they ‘joke’ the team down the leagues.
Absolutely spot on robin
Hang on a minute wolveswonderboy and allow me to clear something up. My post wasn’t in any way intended as a criticism of any other wolves fan. Every one in the ground yesterday had paid their money the same as you and i had and it was entirely up to each and everyone of them to support the team as they saw fit.
My anoyance stems from me, having read many many posts on several message boards claiming that Moxey was going to get his just deserts from the masses due to his shambolic handling of our plight this season. So, that was what i had expected to happen and i was fully prepared to vent my anger along with them. As it was the discontent never really transpired and as is my perogative i’ll admit i was pissed off about it. My opinion is that our down fall is due to Moxey. That is just my opinion of course. Other supporters are of the opinion that Mick McCarthy is entirely to blame and to some extent i would agree with that. However McCarthy had an ally in the board room in Moxey, and it was largely down to Moxeys backing that he stayed well past his sell by date. So for me, Moxey is the most culpable of all involved and for that reason i want him out of our club.
You say in your post wolveswonderboy and i quote:
“All fans want the best for the club but we decide how best to take it forward”
Thats a fair comment mate but now that the home season is over and we wont be going to Molineux again untill next season. Can i with respect, ask you how you think we can take it forward then?
Yosser, I’m sure it wasn’t meant but it struck me and having re-read it stills strikes me as criticism of the fans:
“Those around us were completely apathetic and non responsive to the cause.”
“It completely pissed me off that the South Bank were more intent on singing about going to Barnsley or the left side singing over the right side and the middle.”
That’s where I disagree with you. I genuinely think the Southbank was correct yesterday in doing the only thing that they could do yesterday which was to say ‘nothing on the pitch for us to sing about’ and ‘no point slagging off the Club because that that won’t help the players’ – so what else is left other than taking the piss out of everything including ourselves?
Don’t get me wrong, I hate Moxey with a passion – I don’t buy this ‘he’s only doing his job’ bollocks or this ‘he’s running the club well’ – I think he’s a big reason why the club has alienated the fans, I think we are well and truly screwed by him far far too often, I think he sets the parameters as to what is acceptable in terms of transfers and salaries (and that is the real cause of our demise, given that even TC continues to tell us ‘we lack quality’), I think his public pronunciations are mainly arrogant spin and nonsense but for the duration of the game I prefer to concentrate on the game and supporting the team. I too was waiting for the ‘lap of appreciation’ and I thought it was for the players to appreciate the fans support and then after that was the time to vent – but as I said it just didn’t happen.
In term of taking the club forward Morgan should either sack Moxey or limit his influence. Morgan should sort out the PR at the club because it is abysmal – that would be where I would start but at the end of it all no matter what I’ll be there next season because Wolves are my club – have been since I was 5 and will be till I die – like I’m sure you will be.
As I’m writing this I’m listening to the Blackburn game (Wigan have just scored and its getting nasty at Ewood Park with things being thrown onto the pitch – I can honestly say that I preferred the fans approach at the Molineux.
I think you should get over it Yosser and look forward to next season. I imagine I’ll get a big virtual slap in the face for saying this, but we’re in pretty good shape as a club, we can look forward to the next few years, and generally the fat greasy weasel’s done a pretty good job, (having presided over our most successful spell for 30 years). This is largely thanks to Sir Jack and generally sensible financial management since he left. Granted, Moxey is a fat greasy overpaid weasel and we don’t have to like him, but the same is true for most MDs. The there were two alternative big mistakes made this year – (a) Morgan sacking Mick after the shit defeat (probably resisted by weasel) and (b) Morgan not sacking Mick after we stayed up at the end of last season (probably Moxey’s influence, but SM carries the can).
Come on me babbies!!!
I agree with you Yosser.
Not at the game, but surprised the fans did not let the board know, of their dissatisfaction.
The whole season has been a farce.
The board are asking the fans to support them not the club.
Perhaps we should be renamed “Redrow Wanderers” for this is the club we are supporting at the moment not “Wolverhampton Wanderers”.
The empty seats on MOTD show I am not alone in this thought.
At least TC admitted, in his interview, that he’d failed in his brief to keep us up.
What amazes me is that Moxey and Morgan obviously thought he was capable of doing that, which shows again their lack of ‘ footballling brainpower.’
It is the end of the season and I am sure that if the present set-up continues, I shall be watching “Redrow Wanderers” slump down the leagues, as Mr Morgan builds more homes at Molineux for the ‘rich’.
Can we do anything other than diminishingly ‘hope’ Morgan will change the structure?
What really boils my piss is the Express & Star’s idle acceptance of the clubs stance on a new manager and in particular, the line that an appointment will not be made until after the play-offs.
Why?! Jez Moxey BLAMED play-off victory for our relegation in 03/04 as it prevented pre season planning.
Ten years on and the fat twat is allowing the exact same scenario to occur, yet in a completely self inflicted manner.
And get this, better still, the club have knocked back the Ferguson Jnr rumours as they ‘havent started interviewing!’
So despite sacking Mick THREE MONTHS ago, WBA have, in all likelihood, started interviewing for a new manager before we have.
You just can’t make it up.
The excuses of 03/04 just typical Moxey spin – one or more of the managers involved in the play offs is probably a target – other managers could also become available in a summer of potential managerial reshuffle.
Agree about the E&S – really really lazy journalism throughout this debacle. Surely Tim Nash can’t be picking up a wage? Why are they not asking the obvious questions, challenging the board on their incompetence etc.
One of the articles that really wound me up stated that the ‘Conner had support from the board as they are keen to maintain continuity’.
Continuity ???? WTF is that about????
Bring back David Instone
Continuity obviously means more of the same old shit.
Well having said that Ben,Am i to think there is a petition brewing, after the no speech or apology from MORGAN,&co for the indignation we have suffered this season.FOJM,FOTC.
Can anyone tell me why that prat Johnson was on the bench after what he’s done.also why
did’nt Totally Crap play a few more of our younger pros to give them some much needed experience all be it only for one match.
Congratulations to TC and the team for avoiding joint worst run of home defeats in the Premier League. This proud record still held by McCarthy on 10 with McCarthy (4)/Connor (5) on 9. Maybe I’m in a minority here but I don’t understand why Moxey is taking all this flak from so many. Only one person to blame for the shit we are in and thats MICK MCCARTHY !!!!!!
Yes Morgan made a very serious mistake for not getting rid at end of last season. I suppose you can call is misguided loyalty. Reckon it will be 3/4 years for us to recover from the damage he has inflicted. Congratulations also to Charlie Mulgrew for player of the year award
in Scotland. What a fucking disaster McCarthy was ! Read on one post that he was best manager for 25 years. So how would you rate this seasons team against 2003/04 under David Jones ?
Despite how shitty things are right now, McCarthy left the team in a better state than how Hoddle had left the club but unfortunately he was not able to take us up to where we wanted to be. He was by no means ‘a fucking disaster’ but the board showing too much faith in him has mean that Wolves have taken a big step back… hopefully we can come back stronger but that’s up to the board!
It remains to be seen how much damage McCarthy has inflicted though – we still have a squad capable of automatic promotion and we need a manager who can get that out of the players AND establish us in the PL!
Time will tell Hamlet, would not waste your pocket money on betting on a quick return though. Don’t forget we will be competing against two better teams who will be relegated with us and several other clubs that will fancy their chances next season.
I’ve started this with the intention of being angry at everybody connected with the club for what has happened this season but having read the other comments I really don’t think I can be arsed to say any more – except that I am disappointed and depressed!
Quote from the Greasel in the brum mail-
“The quality of football in recent games has been of a higher standard than what came before. The tweaks to tactics made by Terry Connor since taking the helm have helped to improve the level of performance and encouraged an attractive style of play which has come to the fore over the last month.”
So Connor it is then!
“The quality of football in recent games has been of a higher standard than what came before. …….. an attractive style of play which has come to the fore over the last month.”
Yes, i thought that watching yesterday’s game. A point at home, courtesy of two perfectly good Everton goals being disallowed and not one shot on target by the home team.
We should be so grateful for such a wonderful improvement.
Time for all supporters to go on a sabbitcal and leave the managers and players to it. They’re already in a world of there own anyway.
The players all seem to want TC to get the job and they’re the ones out on the pitch so why don’t we trust them? I really think if we keep the squad other than the obvious sales of fletcher, Jarvis and Stearman then we’ll be promoted by next March.
They aren’t exactly going to slate TC in the press are they? I agree that we can get promoted again with the squad we have but I don’t think that TC can do that…
And who’s gonna pay for Stearman? Any club that comes after him can take Roger Johnson instead! 😛
Hamlet you have to have confidence to be promoted.
Saying we have a squad of players capable of promotion is naive.
We have a squad of players with no confidence and we have no manager.
Do you seriously think Blackburn, Bolton, the other play off clubs plus the promoted teams, Sheffield Wednesday stand out, are going to beaten by Wolves with TC in charge???
No.
It will not be easy and our only hope of promotion is to get a new, very good manager in quickly to sort out the wheat from the chaff and rebuild the team…….
Not with TC in charge – but if confindence is the only problem then a change of manager could bring that about… I don’t want TC in charge next season – don’t think there are many fans who do!
I’m under no allusions as to how hard the Championship will be but I still believe we can come straight back up
Hi Hamlet, me again. Have you actually been to a Wolves match yet ?
No, I’m too far away. I dare say that Clive hasn’t been to a Wolves match either if you’re suggesting my opinion doesn’t matter because of that – but no-one can argue how crap we’ve been this season!
But then again, look at last season – we played some decent stuff then! That’s why I think this team is capable but something went very wrong this season – we went stale under McCarthy, RoJo being made captain – whatever it was it needs to be fixed!
Trust them? Fucking trust them?
The only thing you can trust them to do is fuck up, time and time again.
You have half the Irish squad ( that’s a joke in itself ) running around like headless chickens, trying to not get injured lest they miss the Eoros, and the other lot Are headless chickens, clueless, brainless and useless.
If that lot is retained, then we will be out of the Championship by march, out the bottom into division3.
You haven’t seen a lot of The Wolves this season, have you?
Trust….ha,ha,ha.
Trust them? They’re the 3rd worst team in premier league history for gods sake! I have more trust in Darren Day saying he’s a monogonous, faithful partner whose never shagged a tart in his life.
What a joke! Trust? give me strength
Working on something positive to say watch this space !
Two words sum up Terry Connor for me: Integrity and Courage
Deluded and winless would be my two words, personally.
Useless and clueless would be my two words, personally.
There are only two words i want to sum up a Wolves manager,
WINS MATCHES!!!!!!
How about these two “fall guy”
Two worrds from me,FUCK OFF.
So, as per our illustrious reporter the biggest cheer of the day went to the introduction of a Full Back who it was apparent wasn’t good enough to make the grade as a Championship Full back when we were playing there, let alone as a Premier League Full Back.
Add to that he’s been kept out the side when fit by a converted Striker who’s actually pretty useless in his own right.
Surely the clues are all there aren’t they as to why we are so f*cking useless and in the pickle we find ourselves?!
pissing in a force ten gale is what it is ….and all our grumbles and groans- what will they achieve ? sod all ..might as well not bother posting anymore cos what difference will it make ? sod all..i agree with everything you said yosser mate ..having such little work puts a stop to being able to get to many games which is where we can voice our grievances but too much apathy means you feel like you are on your own..the board dont care for passionate fans which is why the corporates in the north bank will be in there cos all they care about is whats in the sarnies and how clean the toilets are! they wont protest or slag off the board-true fans are being marginalised and ignored till we stop going so they can do whatever makes them loads of money ! they dont want us there and probably like us either hence the silence …think of arsenal , chelsea , man u , fulham….no atmosphere no dissenting voices….very few real fans …..whats the point?
Old Goldy welcome to The World of Moron and Greaseball-where they make the rules and mugs pay for it.
Totally agree with Yosser and make no apologies for using a clown analogy about Clipboard.
Laughing stock and shambles is what we are and it hurts.
Yesterday was unreal.
I have loved these blogs for eons and yet find myself drawing away from the seemingly constant negativity that reflects a nation in years of recession…
I’m unable to post again on a blog that commentors refer to Terry as ‘Coco’ as in the clown, even in jest.
I won’t be missed. I don’t mind. I love the wolves, my son lost a tooth defending their honour this season and his Grandad’s. Salut!
Up the Gold n Black. Salut!!!
sad you feel that way….terry was put in this winless position by mr morgan to cover up his and her terrible handling of all the problems this season. that said either the printed pages of drivel he has reportedly spoken are lying or the pr dept. at wolves have made him walk the plank for them or has really spoken them ..i dont know but it has only further angered the fans. without the truth we can only decide from what is put out there…i do agree though he doesnt deserve the jibes as anyone given the chance to manage a club they have worked at for so long would want the job… never in all my years has this club been in such a mess as now and in such danger of losing its fans.
Why are you unable to post again?
Someone chopped your fingers off?
Unwilling I understand, unable I sympthize.
If you read back through all the blogs since Connor was appointed, you will see that most of us have given the poor bloke a lot of slack, and have not ganged up on him.
I think most of us agree he was left in an untenable situation, and no one in their right mind is going to say “I am not the man for the job” and walk away from another 3 months employment, especially in these not so good economic times.
No, the blame for the last 3 1/2 months dire performances rests squarely on the shoulders of our so called stars.
They should have collecvtively manned up and improved their game and results. All this bollocks on the sanitized site from them about how much they want “TC” to stay, and he’s a great guy, and all that crap, is just that, crap.
They certainly haven’t played like they are in love with him, have they???
I said all along we have the players to stay up, but not the management or coaching staff.
They should all be got rid of, as not fit for intended use, past their sell by date, etc etc etc.
Please don’t leave the blog, Miss Wolves, we will miss you.
Surely Ms Wolves, the constant negativity reflects the negative results and performances of our team throughout a truly awful season.
I think everybody on here loves the Wolves. But that doesn’t neccesarily mean liking or admiring those who at present are paid to manage or represent our great club.
They are not Wolves, they are just employees who have been paid well and done a very poor job for the money.
Everyone of them would jump ship for more money to stay in the premiership while all of us will be stuck with the team we love.
Have to agree with Ms Wolves there is a lot of negativity and just plain abuse. We havent gone into administration or sold all our best players – i am sure there will be changes in the summer and will probably go into next season as one of the favourites for promotion.Only 7 of the 43 clubs that have played in the premier league been ever present.
The negativity and abuse comes with the territory but it does make me laugh a bit when the same fans demand respect.
You really think they respect us-you are either Moxyfied or Coco’d.
All of this dreadful season was utterly avoidable-what do the fans know?
Morgan’s silence says it all-after all he blasted the players-no respect there either.
Respect has to be earned.
I can understand that unfortunately but the anger is more than understandable…personally I’m sticking around because the blogs are top-notch and there’ll be a time when this place becomes more positive again! 😉
Glad this miserable season is nearly over, football is supposed to enjoyable not bloody torturous.
I hear the United Nations are going to invade Wolverhampton (of course with the Yanks in charge), and arrest the Dictator that is Moxey for crimes against running a football club the wrong way, and making the fans watch football that can only be described as putting them through Chinese water torture.
Very sad to see what is going on at my club, has there ever been a time when the gulf between the fans and the board been so wide, I honestly don’t think so.
Time for Morgan to man up and grow some balls, I’m so sick of saying that about Morgan, he’s bloody pathetic, but not as greedy or pathetic as Moxey, but he’s fast catching Moxey up….
Lot of protests at Blackburn tonight looks like things going to turn sour for them.Wouldnt bet on them having a quick return to the Premier.
Though I had to work this Bank Holiday, I did manage to listen to the end of the West Ham v Cardiff match; I have no real interest in either team but it did act as a little therapy after yesterday’s excuse for PL football at the Molineux. It sounded like something I wanted to be part of again, perhaps there’s a slim chance that Wolves could be involved in a play-off battle this time next year when the focus would be ‘the football being played on the pitch’ rather than the endless off pitch unpleasantness. Concentrating on this will help me through the long summer months, whatever is going on at the Golden Palace.
This is difficult to write after such a awful season but I am determined that this post be positive and optimistic for a change!
The fans said we didnt need or want the new stand. We needed to invest in the team or we would be relegated. The fans said mick should have gone a lot earlier or else we would be relegated. The fans said connor
was the wrong person or we would be relegated. What do, we, the fans know about football
Johnson and Ohara were a bigger waste of money than the new stand.
Totally agree pass and move. Johnson, having a drink problem and being a disruptive influence and o’hara constantly injured throughout his career. Looks like the wolves scouting team did a fine job on due diligence on these two players before we signed them
Agreed wolves4ever scouting been bit of a disaster but i think Micks outmoded tactics contributed to this ( wasnt he offerred Victor Moses but didnt want him ! )
It’s true that there’s a lot of negativity, but there isn’t all that much to be happy about is there?
We’ve seen our club stumble towards relegation all season, with bad decision following bad.
I think what makes it worse is that we can’t rely on the management to make the right decisions for next season – I for one will be watching the close season carefully and hoping, nay praying, that some of the obvious wrongs will be put right!
Spot on Ade. I think a vast majority of fans have lost HOPE. We can’t see how things can improve under this regime and their peculiar DNA. Curbishley didn’t like the look of it so why should any other intelligent manager? That’s if they’re actually looking for anyone else. All this spinning of Connor’s achievements makes me even doubt that.
The one time when we had an upbeat period of blogs was when McCarthy was sacked. A lot of us thought, ‘at last we can change direction and start moving forward’. We had hope again which, as usual, was immediately destroyed this time with the recruitment debacle and the ‘non appointment’.
Compare the bile coming from the stands at Ewood Park with Molineux on Sunday. I think Wolves fans keep amazingly positive considering the extent of the incompetence at our club.
On a personal note, how did you come to work in China and what’s it like living there. Just curious if you don’t mind me asking.
Hi Martin,
I went to China over 5 years ago now, originally to take a ‘year working holiday’ and teach English just as a laugh and to see a bit of the world.
But then the recession hit and when I returned I quickly saw that there weren’t many decent opportunities about so I scarpered back over there as I’d made some friends and life was relatively carefree.
The good thing about the expat life is that you meet a lot of people doing all kinds of cool stuff and from every country imaginable – so as long as you’re prepared to put yourself out there I think there are many opportunities to be had. A lot of people just get talking over a beer and a good job can manifest itself!
Also I mentioned it’s carefree – living costs are lower, people mainly leave you to get one with what you want to do, it’s pretty safe (as long as you don’t cause trouble and/or criticise the government openly and pubicly). You don’t pay much/any tax and if, like me, you’re close to Hong Kong, you can nip across the border and get some much-needed civilisation!
Now I’m the marketing manager for a website selling ladies dresses and lingerie worldwide and I married a fantastic Chinese girl, so I think life has in those respects been better for me than it could have been in Blighty!
That said, life can be hard as China really doesn’t bear a lot of similarities to home and it’s tough to do interesting stuff as I think it’s pretty boring as there’s just not so much to do. This has a lot to do with education there and control – people simply aren’t educated to be very wide-thinking, so most locals just stay at home and save money.
Also people generally don’t speak English and they are kind of rude by our standards (not to say that they ARE rude people, but culturally expectations of manners etc are much lower). Racism can also be a problem, as many locals don’t like foreigners at all – not necessarily because they’re prejudiced, but because they’re uneducated and ignorant and so are just not used to new people and things.
Oh…it’s VERY polluted, so not advisable as a holiday destination for asthmatics!
Are you thinking about visiting or even working in China?
Very interesting Ade….
Been a traveller all my life.
Very interseting, thanks Ade.
I was just curious really. China’s a bit of a mystery in lots of ways and i guessed it must be very different living there. Sounds like you’ve settled in well and i suppose you speak the language by now, your wife being chinese and all. What is the chinese for ‘I’ve got a headache’ by the way?
No plans to visit though and certainly not to work. I’m retired now and i stick to gentle and relaxing hols these days, mainly Cyprus in the winter. Us old boys have to take it steady you know.
Anyway, good luck out there and keep those interesting posts coming in.
No plans to visit though and certainly not to work. I’m retired now and i stick to gentle and relaxing hols these days, mainly Cyprus in the winter.
Martin now that this god awful season is almost over unless you have a specific reason for going to Cyprus try the Canary Isles from experience constantly higher temperature and more sunshine from Nov – March.
Hi somebloke. Yeah i think you’re right, the weather is probably better. Still generally very nice in Cyprus, although it can get cold in Jan and Feb at night. So this year we are coming back in mid Jan (to our c/heating and insulation) and going out again in March.
We went three years ago and instantly made a load of friends so we go back to the same place each winter( Pissouri between Limassol and Pathos). We just love it there and we get really good deals on renting places with a car thrown in. And the social life is,shall we say, LIVELY!
The only downside was that i had access to every Wolves game live on t.v. which, as you can imagine, was rather stressful. And watching telly from behind the settee is not terribly comfortable. Still, won’t have to worry about that next year will i?
i can pretty much echo what you say Ade, only my choice of destination was Canada. I live in a buoyant economy in a city that was recently voted one of the best places in the world to live and raise a family. There are some difficulties as you metion – dealing with a different culture can be a challenge at times, and forever repeating what you say because you have an accent. But on a whole life away from Blighty is magnificent!
Now if only they could do something about the sport over here……….
On the game. Despite the early kick-off, I fell asleep on about 60 minutes. Says it all. Looks like I didn’t miss a lot. Kightly was laughably bad. Hunt was ok but offers too little going forward. That was our width gone then.
As for the midfield – Edwards was busy but too deep.
Karl Henry was on the park? Was he? Seriously?
By our recent standards, the defence did quite well all told, despite the offside trap failing which should by rights have led to a goal being given for Everton.
Off the park, the tea leaves suggest that TC is going to be given a few games at least next season (perhaps the rationale is to let him try to register his first-ever win as a manager to help adorn his CV – certainly it doesn’t seem to be being done for the wider good of the club).
One more game and this misery of a season is all over. Thank goodness.
“That’s if they’re actually looking for anyone else. All this spinning of Connor’s achievements makes me even doubt that”.
My sentiments exactly. I fail to see the reason for waiting until the end of the season when TCs tenure has been such a disaster.
TCs achievements amount to 4 draws in 12 matches. That has hardly set the premiership alight. When he took over we were right in the mix and had a good chance of survival. A few games later, and well before the season was over, we were sunk without trace. That’s hardly a CV to impress potential employers. . . . . . . . but if you read some of the things that have been written it appears to have impressed JM. What am I missing????????????
I sat and watched that Blackburn/Wigan game last night, and was highly impressed with Wigan’s style of play.
No so called superstars, yet constant running, passing and good movement.
OK, the only player in Blackburn colors likely to score was the chicken, but even so, Wigan played them off the park.
I wish we could get Martinez, he seems a class act, especially with the muted way he celebrated their survival goal.
Yes, they have an owner who actually did keep his manager after a vote of confidence earlier in the season.
You may wanna take a book out of that leaf, greasel.
Clive are you actually suggesting that Greasel should have kept McCarthy?!?! Interesting change in your view from 13 games ago big fella!
NNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I meant find a manager who knows how to get his team to actually play real football, and then stick with him.
Obviously McDickwadhead does not fall into that category.
However, the difference between Dave Whelan and greasel is that the former actually knows a little bit about football.
How ironic that the team to finally kick Blackburn down is owned by a former Blackburn player, who broke his leg, whilst playing for Blackburn, against Wolves in the 1960 FA Cup Final.
A certain Mr. Derek Dougan also played for Blackburn that day, after handing in a transfer request on the eve of the game, and look how he ended up in Wolves folklore!!
Thank fook for that, I thought you’d gone soft in the head – it does happen to me of a certain age, especially in Texas!
Yeah, it’s this heat.
Frys what few brain cells I got left.
Y’all be excited to know that Houston’s very own Dynamo sahcah team opens it’s brand new stadium on Saturday.
Built from scratch in just over a year, it has a mega capacity of 22,000, and is the first purpose built sahcah stadium in a major metroplex in this country…..or so the bullshit in the local rag sez.
It will be filled with brain dead screaming Mexicans, eating tacos and beans, blowing those trumpet things from South Africa.
This ex Pat will be far away, lazing on the Florida Gulf Coast beaches of Santa Maria Island, getting a few rays, watching the dolphins cavort in the surf, the pelicans skimming the mirror like ocean, and getting plenty of margaritas down me neck!!
It’s a hard life!!!
so what you are saying is no then clive? go on you love mick really….
Fair play Clive, that was a good one about the chicken.
West Brom are in talks with Claudio Ranieri less than a week after losing Roy Hodgson to England. We, on the other hand, are waiting around like a teenage adolescent at a school dance, waiting for a girl, any girl, to bat her eyelids and show an interest. It’s been three months since Mick received his marching orders, but we’re still seemingly no closer to getting a new manager (unless the board has already decided to stick with TC, which would be disastrous). Is this the most incompetent board we’ve ever had at Molineux? It’s a yes from me!
yeah and we will end up with the fat bird!! oh sorry shes our ceo…!
Nowthe good news.
Clipbored has met with Moron about the job.
What the **** is going on?
Well if thats true Moron & Poxey are surely taking the piss out of ALL US FANS.
3 Points out of a possible 36 fucking unbelievable. we ain’t going anywhere with load of shite running our club all he’s interested is that fucking redrow building site at compton.
i think wolverhampton council should withdraw the planing permission on the development at compton and put a stop to the money making prat.
We’ve only got our selves to blame,we should have vented our anger at the lousey bastards.
because we did’nt he thought we can do what we want and when we want,so just a day after our last home game the sly pair of bastards to summon Totally Crap up to his hotel in cheshire.Think its time for that petition and try to get some answer’s if we can believe anything they tell us.FOSM,FOJM,FOTC.
yes ..petition !!! but i still think a protest outside the ground with some tv pepes there is the way to go! cos believe me moxey will not hear what is needed to be shouted otherwise!
Someone could grab hold of greasel, knock all his teeth out and put seats in his mouth.
He then could appoint himself team coach.
Well i’m ready willing and ABLE When ever it can be organised, lets see how many will do it ,
if the number’s are there then perhaps we will prevail,I’m a wolves supporter but not a POXEY OR TC SUPPORTER,AND MORON IS A RED AND ALWAYS WILL BE.
Well, that’s worked for Blackburn hasn’t it?
Why has he got the sack ? if not he will be,at least they had the bollocks to protest.
I agree with Johnok – fans constantly whinge and moan on this forum, but when it comes to match day, they sing a few amusing songs but show little, if any, animosity towards the board. In comparison, Blackburn supporters have made it clear all season how they feel about being mismanaged by an incompetent gaffer and board.
It might make little difference to how the club is run, but Wolves fans at least have to let Moxey and Morgan know how they feel, either by demonstrating or not turning up next season. It really is that simple.
Well Rob, I know enough fans who won’t be turning up next season already. Fans with more DNA coursing through their poor souls than I could ever understand.
There’s an entire row in front of me who will not be there next season and they’ve been in their seats since I moved to the Billy Wright upper in the mid 90s.
These are supporters with hundreds of years of fanatisim between them, who can recollect an Eddie Clamp tackle and a Dave Wagstaffe piss-take like they’re giddy whippersnappers again.
All those memories, all that golden water under the bridge and their final recollection of an unconditional love affair is a mournful glance at an empty director’s box.
Losing supporters like them, who held their father’s hands tight on the North Bank when Peter Broadbent dazzled brightest, is reprehensible enough.
Making premeditated advances to boot them up the arse as they wearily shuffle out is nothing short of disgusting.
aint it sad that it has come to all this? no one is listening cos it needs to be shouted from the rooftops!!!
i also watched Broadbent, Clamp, Wagstaffe etc. Couldn’t go to cup final in 1960 but managed to see Wolves previous week beat Chelsea 5-1 at Stamford Bridge. Took up early bird but will not go if Connor gets appointed, even if I cant get a refund. Never felt such despair in all my years following my club.
Eddie Clamp – now there’s a blast from the past. He’d make Ron Harris and Skinner Normanton look soft. The aftershock from his tackles could be felt in Yorkshire. Goodness only knows what would have happened if Drogba got hit by one of his tackles – probably shatter into a thousand pieces.
Then there was Ron Flowers, Bill Slater and Billy Wright. Gerry Harris could tackle a bit too.
Eddie Clamp eh, brings a tear to my eye – just like it did to the b*gg*rs he tackled.
After years spent following the Wolves, seasoned supporters no longer have the heart to watch their team. What a sad state of affairs. In less than one season, we have endured enough embarassment and misery to last a lifetime. And for that I hold Jez Moxey, Mick McCarthy and Steve Morgan fully responsible. To the fans who will still turn up come rain or shine next season, you are a credit to a club that, quite frankly, doesn’t deserve you.
I’ve not early birdied like many and at the match people were saying that they would go for refunds if
Clipboard was given the job.
Will they carry out this threat?
If this happens there is a worse scenario which is the eventual sacking of Clipboard and ANOTHER shambles appointing someone else and lets face it Morgan is painting himself into a corner here.
I’m more than happy to go with the petition and also be part of lobbying the Council.
My only hope is that Morgan is showing “loyalty” to TC and that he will not be appointed-but my experience of this season is another car crash is on the very near horizon.
I agree with Thomas in thanking those two everton fans who brought some laughter into the turgid 90 minutes. Our left flank was an absolute joke, slow and even slower, Ward and Hunt, both offer nothing and did nothing the whole match. Oh again of course.
My own gesture to Moxey & Morgan is not renewing my season ticket, nor my car park season ticket. That the only way to get something done i`m afraid, hurt the pair financially, stay away in despair and disgust at the crass cockup of this season.
When the tills stop taking the money, then they may listen, and if TC gets the job, they may as well move the first team fixtures to the Bucks Head, as well as the reserves.
our great club run so badly with a shiny fat thingy treating us with contempt …and i thought the emerdale storylines were far fetched!…(my wife tells me!)
Emmerdale Farm?
Is that still on?
Thought it had been bulldozed and had condos built by Redrow!
You’ll be telling me next The Rovers Return (there’s a good name for a Blackburn pub, ha, ha ) is still run by Bette Lynch, and Ken is still shagging Dreary.
dreary..now theres a name for moxey. what would we be called though to follow the rovers return? the bloody bastard wanderer; wandering in the footballing desert for probably 40 seasons! then lo from across the midlands came donkey and donkey was in charge cos he was not costly and he did take us down and around and around and around!!
what are you smoking?????
got some gear from donkey following his trip to holland…chocolate fags?
You got that wrong Clive. It was Mike Baldwin shagging Dreary !
clive shagging moxey????? got to wipe that image!!!!
I’m not sure I totally believe all the posts above; like everyone else I feel angry and annoyed but I know it is no use me saying that I will not be back at the Molineux next season as I would give in before the first match kicked off. The summer months are long enough without Wolves football, there is no way I could go without during the autumn as well. I am usually counting the days until the pre-season fixtures never mind the first league match; I was there the last time we played Hereford United in the lowest league and I’m sure I would be there again no matter who was the manager. I have no desire to see TC appointed permanently but M & M are not going to isolate me; TC may have been with the club 13 years but I’ve been there over 40 years and intend to be there after all the current fools are long gone.
Hopefully Morgans being disingenuous, which suits him and Greaseball. If he is not and
Clipboard IS appointed then we have got a much bigger problem.
Is it The Gala Troughing tomorrow? Will TC be unveiled?
Think I am going to shut down the blog till Thursday.
Oh I forgot he is supposed to be in Holland scouting, for exactly what?
Answers on a postcard!
for some more weed for the chuckle brothers..and boy does it feel like theyve been smoking it this season..thoroughly embarrased throughout the season and preparing to be birched mentally and put in the stocks so i can be totally humiliated too! totally understand ledbury lupus but not sure youll have many people sitting near you next season..watch out for the tumbleweed!
Old Goldy they haven’t been on the weed that is for sure.
If they had been smoking, then things would be better!
In 1981 I lived in Venice California, no Internet nor mobile phones.
Only info on Wolves was a tiny Monday column on British football in the L.A. Times, for which I’d avidly seek our result.
Could our possible slump down the leagues under Morgan Moxey and TC, lead to a ‘digital’ disappearance of our beloved club, like when I lived in Venice?
Possible.
However, until it is set in stone I shall continue to dream that Morgan has a plan to win us back.
The season will end and he will sack Moxey and TC and bring in a good, young, hungry manager under a director of football.
Such is my frustration with the silence am thinking of emailing Robert Plant to see if he is under a vow of silence too!
now thats a good idea…surely he MUST carry some influence and watching his face at the birmingham cup game says he does care
did you send rock god planty an e-mail? would love to know what he really thinks about mr clueless, shiny fat one and donkey..Plant for manager-wonder what players hed sign?
Not yet.
We have a mutual friend from Ibiza, who is visiting London and says he will give me his email address.
I will see him in the next day or two & let you know.
nice one..would be great to know what he really thinks of this debacle..
Heard there was a scheduled Board meeting today at Molineux.
Anyone wanna guess what they talked about…….
What to put on the new wraps in the new bistro??
How much they can charge for a wrap??
Should they use the fair trade ingredients like the CO-OP ????
Should Robert Plant cut his hair???
What about Beer??
What brands should we stock in the new Bar that can make us the most money???
Can we finance the building of a new block at Fetherstone prision and call it it the redrow block???
We could even use red bricks???
Any other Business????
Morgan OUT!!! Moxey OUT!!! TC OUT!!! Johnson OUT!!!
Appointing Clipbored so he can be unveiled-hope not.
Just need to dot the “i’s” and cross the “t’s” now
http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2012/05/08/wolves-interview-terry-connors-for-managers-job/
Well at least they haven’t block-booked a lavish suite in a central London hotel this time. 😐
Johnson to Norwich-you heard it here first.
johnson to alcatraz would be more suitable..and make him swim back to the mainland with a crate of beer strapped to his back in case he gets the shakes!!!! CAPTAIN ….whatever!!!!!!!!!!!
That fat bastard greasel has now reached a new low in ripping off the fans.
The new kit is always unveiled at the end of season dinner bollocks.
This year, the fat twat is waiting until July, to coincide with the opening of the new megastore.
Why?
Coz , a) He wants to deflect as much shit as possible at the end of season dinner bollocks, as this is just another way of making the fans cough up more money to watch second rate football, and this season’s wounds are still very raw,
and b) There is still the store in Dudley Street, so why wait until July? See above, wants to minimize any backlash.
I say fuck him, and the disgraceful team with their woeful performances this season, they should be made to wear second hand strip, as a cost cutting exercise, but mainly as a badge of shame for how the fans were treated this season.
yeah a pink strip would suffice and some lovely high heels and a gucci handbag for the players and send the new kit to poor countries for free!
One observation on the sanitised site(apart from how appaling it is).
I rarely go on it but i have noticed lately that i have to click on it TWICE to get in. Has anybody else experienced this?
I was wondering whether this an attempt to hide the dwaining interest of fans or do you think it’s just a technical thing? It’s probably cock-up rather than conspiracy but i don’t trust that Moxey bugger.
I have to click 3 times before anything opens, and then it’s the usual tripe.
Interesting, it was always just one click.
Anyway, just double clicked in and it actually has something worth reading in the fan’s parliament minutes. Moxey almost apologises a couple of times. That surely means they’re worried about revenue loss.
Read this, guys,, quite interesting.
Taken off Electronic Telegraph about Cardiff City.
“As is usual at this time of year, Cardiff City Football Club directors and key stakeholders are in talks to review all operational aspects of the club as a means to ensure our long-term success, prosperity and sustainability.
“This wide-ranging annual review process is multi-faceted and incorporates plans to continually build the most competitive team possible going forward, deal with historical issues and continue to positively develop the infrastructure of the club.
“We would like to assure supporters that any decisions will include the long-term interests of our supporters, our community and the survival and development of Cardiff City Football Club in a highly competitive and modern sporting industry.
“As a club we also appreciate the importance of our history, along with our position within the community. We fully recognise the legitimate interests of the fans, supporters and media in the affairs of the club and their right to information in respect of the same.”
“We fully recognise the legitimate interest of the fans”
Words we will NEVER hear uttered by greasel.
Not to disagree with you Clive on the fat controller, but using Cardiff as an example of a well run transparent club is a bit far. Cardiff have flirted with financial melt down more than once in the last 2 or 3 years because of there heavy spending on failing players. Both our club and theirs talk bull on being well run and in the long term interest of the fans.
That said FOJM, FOTC!
Also apparently Cardiff’s new Malaysian owners want to change the clubs kit to red and emblem to a Dragon to make it more identifiable in the east Asian market! So much for listening and communicating with the fans.
theyre welsh and they know they are!!
morgan is……………………..the invisible man..can you believe he wasnt at the fans parliament-doesnt have the stomach for the rough!! sir jack PLEASE BUY THE CLUB BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! while there is still something left………….
I hope sir jack ‘s got a buy back clause, because this red faced two faced bastard is not interested in this club and definitely not us fans.FOSM,FOJM,FOTC,
would love sir jack to return and kick no balls and shiny face up the arse ..sick to the back teeth of this pantomime!!
If I remember rightly the players used to say how wonderful Mick was. Now Terry is in charge they tell us that things have improved. Does this mean that Mick wasn’t really so wonderful after all (were they telling lies) OR that Terry is even more wonderful?
Don’t worry! Terry Connor won’t be the new manager. Steve Morgan is a tough business man who wants to be a winner and he won’t tolerate failure.
There is no chance of Terry getting the job (though he will probably stay in a lower job because of his loyalty) and I think there is a 50/50 chance of Jez getting the sack. It was only Jez who prevented Mick getting the sack earlier which will count against him together with his other failures and he will only survive if Morgan thinks he is good on the financial side.
Steve was landed with Jez Moxey and Mick McCarthy by Sir Jack and he left them alone because everything went well for a time but now it has started to go wrong I believe that Steve will sort it out and put into place the set up he wants.
we can but hope…
This has been my first season’s foray into the murky underworld that is the Wolves Blog and I must admit that the experience has been a rather pleasant surprise for me even allowing for the rather varied, sometimes contentious but diverse opinions put forward from what appears to be the four corners of the world. Originally from W’field and attending the Mol’ for the first time in 62/63, my love for everything WW was initially nurtured on well intentioned stories of the 50’s era.
Work took me away to Wales in ’82, followed by season tickets for quite a few years for myself and one of my boys. Later my boys’ weekends were times of their football or rugby or both which meant my excursions back to Wolves became less and less but that enthusiasm and interest never dimmed. There were highs but far more lows for the Wolves, finally ending in the low point which is this season.
Fans haven’t changed in all these years because deep down for them the club comes first. What has changed is the way that clubs are structured, organised and financed, quite often by people who have no experience of football and/or what it means to the fans. Players, coaches and managers come and go but fans remain, maybe quieter or more vocal than usual, possibly a little bit thinner on the ground but they must and will be heard, unfortunately whether they are listened to is another matter.
Keep up the good work, keep blogging. The message does get through, even though it will never be admitted by the people concerned.
As ever keep the faith, UTW !!!
NB….Wi**n 2 Wolves 3 and welcome to the CH, B****n, see you next season.
After wide spread news that the bookies had suspended all betting on our new manager last week, after Darren Ferguson had been installed as the 1-4 on favourite. Well, i’ve just checked again and ffs, Ferguson has now been relegated to second favourite @ 11-2 behind………….. Wait for it………………….Ståle Solbakken @ 1-2 on.
Ståle f*****g who did you say? Exactly my reaction anyway. I’ve never even heard of him before today. are the bookies just taking the piss?
Here’s the link if you’re interested.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ståle Solbakken
oops sorry chaps, buggered the link up.
here it is again.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St%C3%A5le_Solbakken
By the way, if you think i speak with forked tongue and am making it up, check it out here.
http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/wolves-specials/next-permanent-manager
hes not dead..no..he is alive!!
Someone’s having a laugh at our expense again !!
Stalle is Norwegian and was Manager of the Year. He’s got a pacemaker fitted.
He should be cheap.
Yosser6
Having read just now the fans parliament minutes http://www.wolves.co.uk/page/FansParliament/0,,10307~2764661,00.html
and reading Moxey’s comments “As a generic point, we have decided we have to say less in trying to explain more…” I wish to apologise to you and all Wolves fans for my earlier posts where I suggested that fans publicly protesting about the club was counter productive and not the best course of action. Having read this complete tosh, all power to your elbow. The bloke is a knob, Morgan is a bigger knob for keeping him and if as fans (in the pure commercial sense read fans as consumers) we are treated with this disdain then we should revolt – this nonsense from the club just needs to stop now – someone please pass me a pitchfork!!
Just read the Fans parliament,no answers as usual, whats the point having a parliament when
he won’t answer the questions put to him,it seems to me he’s hiding something it stinks i can smell it even in wednesfield.FOJM,FOSM.FOTC.
PR excercise for Greaseball-showing he listens. Bollocks.
wolveswonderboy, no apology needed mate, what ever your opinion was/is, is as valid as anyone else’s and you are perfectly entitled to it. If you change your opinion then that is your perogative to do so.
If i can clear up one point though mate. It was never my intention to protest against the club. It’s the club that’s in our blood, each and everyone of us. It’s the club that unites us all in the desire to see Wolverhampton Wanderers as successful as the club can possibly be. My intention was to slag off Moxey as loudly and as furiously as possible. Moxey is an employee of the club. a piss poor, arrogant, under performing employee at that.
its a complete farce and i have had enough ….watched europa final and boy what a lesson in how the game should be played!! premier league best in europe…..no way! its just where all the money is!! apparently the winners of the play off final now recieve 60 million !!!!!!! reverse to league one and i bet those teams must be gobsmacked with how unfair the way the money is filtered down the leagues …
I agree and don’t forget the team that got stuffed 3-0 ran rings round Man U previously.
On another Channel, Holloway’s Blackpool were passing the ball around with consommate ease and creating endlees chances against a Blues team who we found unpenetrable in two cup games.
Nowhere near the facilities or money we’ve got, just a coach who knows what modern football is all about. It’s no good keeping TC at the club in any capacity. We need a complete overhaul of our coaching staff and methods.
Yes, you’ve got to hand it to Holloway for getting Blackpool to the play off final with the lack of resources he has.
What A joke Of an Awards Do…..
Fletcher wouldn’t have scored 2 thirds of his goals without Jarvis…..
The fan of the season an 83 year old woman who doesn’t know or care or understand about the difference between PL and Championship. She just loves going every week and seeing the children waving the Gold and Black flags….
And to top it all the fans vote the Goalkeeper as the player of the season…?
Oh how the baggies fans are gonna love that !
Who on earth votes a goalkeeper as player of the season…
Still there was plenty of beer there for Johnson to enjoy..
Morgan OUT!!! Moxey OUT!!! TC OUT!!! Johnson OUT!!!
“Fletcher wouldn’t have scored 2/3rds of his goals without Jarvis.”
Just for the craic, I decided to check this. You find that it is closer to 1/3rd than 2/3rds. All quotes are from the BBC match reports.
Blackburn 1-2 Wolves: ‘But Wolves hit back straight away as Steven Fletcher headed home Matt Jarvis’s cross at the far post’ – 1/1 = 100%
Liverpool 2-1 Wolves: ‘… although Steven Fletcher cut the deficit for Wolves, tucking in Stephen Hunt’s cross, the home side held on’ – 1/2 = 50%
Wolves 1-2 Newcastle: ‘Fletcher did give his side hope with three minutes remaining when he scored from Hammill’s cross …’ – 1/3 = 33%
Wolves 2-1 Sunderland: ‘Westwood got a hand to Fletcher’s header from another fine Jarvis cross, but could not keep it out.’ – 2/4 = 50%
‘Wolves completed the turnaround with Fletcher’s second nine minutes later. The Black Cats claimed handball against O’Hara as the striker took control in the area, but he did not waste time as he shoot low past Westwood.’ – 2/5 = 40%
Man U 4-1 Wolves: ‘Wolves got themselves back in the game shortly after half-time as Matt Jarvis crossed from the left for Fletcher’ – 3/6 = 50%
Arsenal 1-1 Wolves: ‘A corner from the left was half cleared to Hunt on the edge of the box and his deflected effort was diverted past Wojciech Szczesny by the head of Fletcher.’ – 3/7 = 42%
Bolton 1-1 Wolves: ‘Having already hit the bar, Wolves equalised after the break when Steven Fletcher headed in a Matt Jarvis cross.’ – 4/8 = 50%
Spurs 1-1 Wolves: ‘Steven Fletcher put the visitors ahead with their first attack, prodding home from close range after Brad Friedel parried a Roger Johnson header.’ 4/9 = 45%
Swansea 4-4 Wolves: ‘ … the visitors pulled a goal back as the Swansea defence dozed, allowing an unmarked Fletcher to head home from Doyle’s cross.’ 4/10 = 40%
Forgot his 11th goal! how remiss …
Wolves 1-5 WBA: ‘Wolves found themselves level at the break when Fletcher combined brilliantly with Ebanks-Blake and shot first time past Ben Foster’ 4/11 = 36%
Not quite 2/3rds then, is it?
Yea That’s right…
I meant to put a third… but got carried away.. too much beer ! like Johnson..
Morgan OUT!!! Moxey OUT!!! TC OUT!!! Johnson OUT!!!
and i bet the board all patted themselves on the back for another financially successful season!! wonderful wolves?
Who exactly goes to these TROUGH-INS. Strange Moron able to say loads about what he is doing and War Chests-read piggy-bank-when there are “guests” paying over inflated money to have Johnson on their table quaffing like there is no tomorrow-in his case there isn”t.
No doubt Greaseball was pressing the flesh-sounds disgusting.
FOMORON,GREASEBALL,BALDRICKANDTROUGH-INS.
Johnson and O’Hara allegedly completely out of their heads last nt. Disgrace!
Like a normal day at the office for them, then!!!
protest protest protest?!
If i had been as god damn awful as Johnson was last seaon i would probably go permanently on the piss.
Oops – season over but not over, one more game to look forward too !
Just seen sanitised site pictures of The Celebration of Relegation.
Surprisingly no pics of Baldric and O’Icantplay.
Jim White of Sky Sports reporting.
Reporting what? Morgan’s War Chest Piggy Bank-only money to spend will be small part
of incoming transfer fees-What an absolute sham.
Yet another case of greasel greed, and morgan’s arrogance.
Last season, two days before our last match, when we could easily have been relegated, morgans pens the contract to re develop the stadium, when going into the championship would have dealt a major blow to his income.
This year, obviously due to cheapness, greasel schedules the end of season dinner for a date before the season is over!
What, tell me, would have happened had we not already been relegated, and our Premiership survival rested on getting a win at Wigan?
Would all the players have been sent home at 9?
Would they all have been told to lay off the booze?
It just beggars belief at the total mindless stupidity of those at the top.
Where is the wicked witch of the west with her new broom?
You’re mistaken Clive – the season’s been over for months.
THIS CLUB IS A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good reports about Stalle from my mate who remembers him from Copenhagen FC.
Hope we can get something sorted soon for all our mental health!
Is the championship the best league to bring a foreign coach into that hasn’t managed in english football before? What will he know about Barnsley, etc? To me it just smacks of cost cutting again. We won’t pay the compensation for a MacKay , Hughton, Holloway or Poyet. That and they probably won’t agree to come on our terms of selling some of our ‘better’ players for half decent money and buying players for a pittance. Also they would want to bring their backroom teams whereas our Norwegian friend would probably come alone thus allowing us to keep clipboard on his rolling 10 year contract. Moxey is a fat fuckin disgrace.
£100+ for ticket to last night event. Outpricing probably 99% of true fans. I am beginning to despise everything with regards this current regime
wouldnt want any nasty people pissing on his parade now would he? amazing he stood there and apologised in front of just them….should be called morgan no balls!
PETITION,PETITION,PETITON.
Well if all is true what was said last night at the Relegation awards evening, why if he felt so bad did he wait until its all over to say how sorry they all are for how the season has gone.
why did’nt he make some sort of statement when he had a chance to save our season after sacking Mc Idiot and putting Totally crap incharge for 13 games.
Now he wants to invest in a very good treasure chest or does he mean to fill his treasure chest with the proceeds from the player’s he sells?
Why did’nt he have the guts to come and talk to the masses when we wanted some sort of guidance to what was happening at our club, then perhaps we would have had more patience.
The next step is whether you believe him or is it just spin off POXEY.FOJM,FOTC.MORGAN I hope its you telling the truth.
As we all know, the manager is the most important position within a football club. Good quality managers are always in demand and dont come cheap. Last night moron talked the talk, now its time to walk the walk. talk is cheap. The recruitment of our next manager will tell us everything we need to know about moron the man, and how he really feels
about wolves. If he goes for a cheap untried manager (TC) he can get fucked and i hope all fans return season tickets. If he spends some money, getting a good proven manager, buying them out of their existing contract as good managers tend to be employed, i will support him next year
Just heard the Norwegian chap has got the job…done deal!
…i really don’t know what i think..
Have you been on the cider ??
Interesting, if leftfield. He’s a proven winner though – albeit in Denmark.
Half a dozen bloggers on this site just keep spewing the same bile every half hour.
Indeed so, but that’s what keeps the blog ticking over. It’s up to the rest of us to try to bring a certain sanity to those bloggers who occasionally go over the top but nevertheless need an opportunity to vent their feelings and anger. Their opinions need to be aired even if we may not agree with them. Don’t forget we’re all WW supporters on this blog.
Was that a sly dig at me?
If so, thank you!!
Fame at last!!!
Think I’ll apply for manager’s job.
Too late Clive beaten too it by Stale!
does seem a bit like that but at least its not like the sterile club site….and you can say what you like….its not china at least
Hey, I resemble that remark!
Give me Shenzhen over Tipton any day!! 😀
Old Goldy
Got a response last night:
“Dear Robin
Lance forwarded the email. It won’t be TC, all I can say at the moment,
best wishes
Robert.”
cheers robin ..at least he cares enough to reply…thanks for doing that mate!
Confirmed in the press Solakken manager TC asisstant. Either masterstroke or diaster I just don’t know
Could be fun by the sounds of it… who knows
http://www.thenational.ae/sport/football/stale-solbakken-likes-nothing-more-than-to-stir-it-up
Well who saw that coming? Solbakken eh? Foreign manager at the Wolves? La di da! Looking forward to the spelling of that on the comment boards!
Seems to be a big bolshy character a la MM, hopefully not from the same tactical school tho (oh hang on, sorry, hopefully from ANY tactical school!). Has played kick n rush with the crazy gang, but also played and managed at high levels across Europe and even played at a World Cup!
Im interested to hear everyone’s judgement, but will reserve my own until I see who he buys, who he plays and how we play.
Innocent till proven guilty!
Spelling: Maybe we’ll just call him ‘Stale’: easy to spell, easy to remember, like the style of football he’ll have us playing? Hope not though.
Solbakken it is!
Better than TC…….
Agreed – most anything would be an improvement.
and after he was raised from the dead he was called” stale”…and lo, donkey after returning from 40 seasons going round and round did become “a number two” …thus wolfy did return with false teeth…
Being reported Stale Solbakken is about to be announced Wolves new manager.I believe he has already been written off in some quarters – i know little about him and will have to wait and see.
Stale Solbakken is Norwegian
He manages the Wolves
We’re gonna get promoted
Playing pass and move
And Morgan is investing
In brand new playing staff
Let’s hope they can play good football
Who cares if they can graft
Where’s Solbakken’s
Where’s Solbakken’s
Where’s Solbakken’s defibrillator?
Once upon a time we had a gaffer
Didn’t even win a single game
Then we went and hired a bald Norwegian
But nobody knew how to say his name
These are the days my friends
Let’s hope the season ends
With Wolves back in the top flight
We sing the songs we choose
We fight and never lose
We are the Wolves
Oh yes we are the Wolves
This fits lovely if you sing it to ” Those were the days my friend…. ” by Mary Hopkin, try it.
This sings rather well to ” those were the days my friend ” by Mary Hopkins. Try it.
Oops I sent that twice, I’d better have another pint or maybe I’d better go to bed.
There’s some big hype around this Norwegian chap – as the optimist I am I’ll believe it! Just waiting for the official website to confirm it…
Dont know what to make of stale. The media are loving his name i.e. Wolves have gone stale. Brilliant. Another piss take. This could be a stroke of genius from moron and i am very surprised, but am more than willing to give him all the support. My big concern is that TC is goin to be kept on as his right hand man, with the spin being TC knows the league, knows the players and will help him. What has TC got over the club. What secrets does he know. How can we get through 4/5 managers and he still keeps his job. I like TC the bloke, but we need a clear out of all coaching staff, esp TC.
Has anyone ever seen TC and jez moxey wife in the same room? Stranger things have happened!!!
Been swotting up on old Stale quite like what ive read.Might not do him any harm to be written off before he starts (bit soon for SS OUT not cofirmed yet).
I am actually quite happy with this appointment. He has a reputation for wanting to play boring football but I don’t think that’s justified. Being a Dane living in Copenhagen, I have seen a lot of FC Copenhagen games and in his later years they played very attractive football. Also he managed to put his footprint on the team and he has had major role in building the football team which is now by far the best in Scandinavia – among other things beating Man U and Celtic and drawing with Barcelona in the CL group stages.
My worry will be, however, that I don’t think he is very good at blooding the youngsters. I don’t know his track record in Cologne but at first glance, I don’t see this appointment as being very much in line with the young and hungry policy.
But I still believe that this is a good appointment.
And, may I add, he is a man who puts a lot of weight on discipline and players acting professionally. And he has a temper.
Players lacking a displined approach to their jobs are already on their way out, I am sure. I won’t mention any so I haven’t forgotten any.
What the F**K is Morgan playing at..
The Danish league is probably slightly more competitive than the Blue Square premier..
We get to Keep TC and all the other clowns.. That helped get us relegated.
Forgive me, but surely when a club sacks a manager. The idea is to bring in a manager who is better?? Remind me why we sacked McCarthy,
Hardly the big impressive clear out of dead wood we were hoping for is it..
Maybe we win a few next season and all will look good, But you have to give this manager at least one season, by which time it could be too late and look out Walsall we could be coming for you.
According to the press he impressed Morgan at the interview… Wow.
I could do that, its not saying I’ll get you back in the premier league though.
What about the timing…. Just before all the managers who move clubs come onto the market..
Must admit Morgan does not fill me with all hope at all for the future. He along with Moxey have no idea whatsoever about football.
What happened to the Director of Football idea???
I won’t be returning my season tickets though. I simply have to go and watch.
I am expecting Morgan that this team will excite me and get us back up, as like you I am a bad loser.
Wolverhampton.. EXPECTS…
Morgan OUT!!! Moxey OUT!!! TC OUT!!! Johnson OUT!!!
Nige, I will be very surprised if ‘Stale’, is any ‘staler’ than MM or TC !
I actually don’t agree at all with any of this, Nige. I may even be inclined to think that you don’t know anything about Ståle or his record as a coach. He is good fit for us and the state, that we are in.
On your points: It is difficult to compare leagues but I believe that FC Copenhagen would perform quite well in the PL. The current squad is better than our current squad is my opinion.
On keeping TC et al.: Ståle will bring in his own team – if approved by M&M. He was not allowed to do that in Cologne but was stuck with a staff that was deframented and disagreed about everything.
Better than Mick: Well, tactically he is very astute and he will surely tighten up the defense which is top priority at the moment. I am not sure a man like Kevin Keegan would be the right choice for us given our current defensive record. Ståle fits the bill perfectly in that respect. When he took over FC Copenhagen in 2006 they were often accused of playing boring football but he never the less managed 3 out of 4 championships if I remember correctly. And the football improved immensely during his reign – read my post above.
On the deadwood: Ståle goes about everything about his team very carefully. He will thoroughly assess each and every player and decide whether they are able to work under him. He will dispose of any player he does not think he can work with. Good news is that Roger Johnson will be out the door. Bad news is that Ward may get a look in as he is excellent at putting he head down and fight for his place. That of course depends on whether Ståle believes he is good enough – and that is fair enough I suppose.
I agree we could still use a DoF though. But I also think that we should applaud the board in making a quick decision of a new manager and actually appoint a manager with a decent track record – thoufh it is outside the UK.
So much negativity on the E&S site – comments that he’s on the cheap etc etc. How the hell does anyone apart from M&M and SS know what he’s costing? What it must be like to be privy to such information. How can you be so negative when the guy hasn’t even taken over?
I’d never heard of Stale until yesterday. The more I learn about him, the more I like. I feel we’ve been given a bit of a lift, that we can feel more positive than we have in ages. I really thought TC had his name on the manager’s door and feared that Reid, Bruce or Megson was waiting in the wings if his abysmal record continued in the championship.
He hasn’t taken over yet but it’s got to be better than TC. I welcome someone with a bit of a record – not just in Scandinavia but in the champions league.
Credit to Morgan, (and possibly JM), they’ve been keeping this under wraps and must have moved pretty fast when he became available. The guy has been given pre season to work with the players and to do a little wheeling and dealing.
Time will tell but every journey starts with the first step.
this is so much closer to my thoughts on the matter than the negative clap trap spouted immediately above.
if you go into a situation expecting to find shit, then everything you look at will be shit, and you will continue to be a miserable bastard for the rest of your life.
Fickle an’it the word……
He an’it even in the post yet and already he is the messiah..
Of course he was cheap. He was out of work.
Being successful at one club in one league which isn’t the strongest in the world dont mean anything.
I’m hearing lots of pundits talking about shitty long ball football.. He cant handle the pressure in the german league from the press. Fall outs with his boss and his players.
It don’t all sound Rosie…
Yes I will give him the benefit of the doubt till we see results.
But Morgan and Moxey don’t become heros overnight.. they are not out of this by a long way yet.
Morgan OUT!!! Moxey OUT!!! TC OUT!!! Johnson OUT!!!
I think we need to give S.S. a chance.
ATM, we are assuming that TC will continue in some role and also Moxey, but it may not be the case.
It appears to be Morgan rather than Moxey’s appointment.
Thank God we have got someone and not someone like Megson or Bruce.
Not sure how others feel, but personally am relieved that something concrete has finally occurred in the footballing realm, rather than the building trade, as regards Wolves.
Am sure, from reading about him that he will get our defence working and certainly won’t be intimidated by the likes of Johnson or O’Hara.
On wards and upwards!
