October 21 2015 was the date we’d all been waiting for.

Flying cars, self-tying trainers and hovering skateboards was the adrenalin-fuelled prophecy, but sadly over at Molineux there was nothing half as progressive.
Not so much Back to the Future, but back.
Back to the dark recesses of our endless failed seasons, in a performance to suggest that the near distant future isn’t worth looking at, let alone the year 2040, which is too horrific to contemplate.
Faded, ripped old banners of Billy Wright and Bill Slater will billow from a decaying old monument, a smattering of old souls will be buffeted by the wind and Jez Moxey will still sit in the best seat in a crumbling old house, regaling his remaining few friends of the good old days in the Championship, when gags included ‘not doing a West Bromwich Albion’ and qualifying for Europe. How they all laughed.
Last night’s 2-0 defeat to Brentford was so regressive, so clueless and so frighteningly inept that it actually transcended subsequent debates about team selection, the league table, or forthcoming fixtures with Middlesbrough and Blues.
Played out to mortified eyes – mingled with swathes of empty seats – it actually acted as a bolt of lightning on the South Bank clock, spiralling us to a future when scenarios like this are the norm.
What for players like Leigh Griffiths and Michael Jacobs from 2013, never mind a Keith Curle or an Allan Neilsen from a Colin Lee era.
Adam le Fondre, a marginal improvement on Tomasz Frankowski, wouldn’t keep John Paskin out of a 1990 side.
James Henry, on last night’s performance, could only clean Tim Steele’s boots in 1989.
And so ponderous were McDonald and Coady that Nigel Vaughan and Phil Robinson would have breezed in and around them back in Staw Distribution shadow striped shirts.
As it was, Brentford right back Alan McCormack emasculated the pair of them as a makeshift midfielder in the most depressing sight of the entire night.
The bald Irishman is 31 apparently, making him literally unattainable to a hapless club like Wolves, who still adorn the walls of the Molineux stands with past legends, but bastardise their legacies in the corporate seats inside.
We don’t sign experience. We don’t sign anybody come to think of it, only a deal to emblazon yet more Red Row branding on a digital scoreboard on a stand that bears Steve Bull’s name.
What Steve Morgan has done to this once great club isn’t naïve or misguided…
…It is sick.
While the latest instalment of this increasingly grim storyline was playing out on the pitch, Kenny Jackett stood with his hands in his pockets, resigned.
His fizzy bottle-of-pop coach Joe Gallen was flat.
The ground was empty, the team was spiritless and the substitutions mattered little because the future has been set.
And as the boos shook my seven-year-old son to the soles of his little trainers, I really can’t bear to look at it.

Grim. And, as a mid to bottom of the table team, any decent players will be hoovered out of us in the transfer window at less than their true value.
What Steve Morgan has done to this club is ‘sick’? Last season we missed out on the playoffs with a points total that would have achieved automatic promotion in some seasons. Yes we are missing key players from that team, but not all of the losses are self-inflicted – Dicko missing the rest of the season is the sort of injury you can’t legislate for, and we all knew Sako deserved to play in the Prem and that replacing him would not be straightforward.
We’re having a bad time of it at the moment, and I was as horrified by this result as anyone. But let’s have a bit of perspective.
gallant effort trying to put a positive spin there but i believe the truth lies a little closer to the author’s view. Morgan clearly knew he was on the brink of leaving, and even though we had three years to plan for Sakos departure he left as though it had been a big surprise. stearman was sold at morgan/moxeys request for a quick boost to the bank and incomings… well, im afraid a couple of cheap unknowns or loanees was all that could be mustered,
Kenny is up against it for sure, and far from him being given the sack (which I do not think should happen) I think he is more likely to walk at the end of this season.
What a complete comedy club we are.
After watching them out play Fulham I was gob smacked at last night’s abject performance. I must single out Coady who was a disgrace. Out of his position, out of touch and must surely be out of the team next time. Ominously, Macca’s back looks an issue but the whole midfield went AWOL. So how can the manager not see that? If that means sitting higher up with a radio to the bench then do it Kenny. 18000 poor souls could see it from kick off to final whistle. For the first time I for one am having real doubts about KJ. I hope he proves me wrong.
Spot on Ben.
My glass is normally half full, but after last night’s totally inept performance it was less than half empty.
All of that plus a 270 mile round trip made worse by endless road closures and diversions meant getting home at 1am FFS. So bad that I am close to going to the Madejski to support the Mighty Royals – maybe not, but will someone in authority at the Mol please do something to sort this mess out?
Moxey and Morgan need to get out of town quick, before I lead the peasants’ revolt and have both their heads on a stake!
How much worse is this situation going to get?
COYW!
The most inept performance I ever witnessed. The first half lacklustre, no impetus, no fight, no drive, no attack……no nothing. The second half very marginally better due to the substitutions which only goes to show that Jackett got the tactics wrong to begin with. Price should be first pick on the team sheet – he has belief, he has spirit and he fights, yet here he was left out!
We were watching two very poor, mediocre, even inept teams and we were the weaker -we lost – as simple as that. I don’t see where we go from here – the current team are relegation material on last nights’ showing. The defence is shambolic – I would really like to get to the bottom of the Stearman saga. If ever he was needed it was last night. Did Jackettt have a say and agree the Stearman transfer or was it forced upon him? The most senseless transaction of the decade!
Our midfield was totally over-run until the second half subs, and our attack absent. Our best hope of a goal, Benik, played either far too deep or out on the right wing.
I just don’t see the logic. The whole team was poor, even the keeper’s handling was inept – though to his credit there was one brilliant save at the death.
We’ve lost 3 key players in Sako, Dicko and Stearman and without them we are simply relegation fodder. The January transfer window cannot come quickly enough if we are to survive this mess. The Summer intake so far has been a complete waste of money thus far and no improvement on players already here, so don’t hold your breath……
I don’t know if I can bring myself to watch the Boro game last night was so inept.
In the eloquent words of Jim Royle – Wolverhampton Wanderers Molyneux Fortress – MY ARSE!!!
I’ve got my tickets for Saturday, but on last nights showing, I may not bother to make the trip. Brentford, for chrissakes. Walked all over us. At the Mol. Hard to take it in really.
What’s gone wrong??? I watched the whole of the Fulham game on their website and we marmalized ’em. Quick, incisive passing, great movement off the ball and a solid, organized defence. All qualities completely absent from last nights abject capitulation. It’s no coincidence that teams seem to save their ‘best performance of the season’ for when they’re playing us. You can only play as well as the other team will let you, and we, all too often, simply give ’em the ball and let ’em get on with it.
Rubbish. Pathetic. Chronic. Use any derogatory adjective you like and it’ll fit last night’s debacle.
I’ll still be there on Saturday though. 🙁
The only positive from last night was that I listened to it on the radio and so I don’t have the mental scars other supporters must have after watching it, or even worse paying to watch it. I watched the Derby game and thought it couldn’t get worse, how wrong I was. Any manager how tries to pretend there were positive points for Wolves in that game last night is treating Wolves fans as idiots and living in denial. Any fan that goes to another game until the players start to at least and try to earn their wages is an idiot. Benik Afobe will be offered a nice, inflated wage in Janurary and Steve Morgan will be offered fifteen million and if I were them, I would take it.
The problem comes from the top.
The Chairman has given up.
Everyone knows, players included, the CEO doesn’t care about football.
Our transfer policy reflects this.
Is it the Head Coach Mr Jackett? – His hands are tied by the Board.
There is disinterest.
It must be hard to play for a club whose owner doesn’t care.
He’s ok as long as it is cheap.
Winning and losing are secondary to his costs.
How do you motivate yourself under those circumstances?
Blame KJ ? – He is a bit of a yes man but no decent manager will come and work for Moxey and Morgan, so I think he will remain.
The sooner someone with ambition buys the club the better…
We may be waiting a long time…..
Replacing KJ with Rodgers would be like replacing Rodgers with Klopp, I’m just saying. KJ is usually a good manager though, but he just hasn’t the right players to succeed. What do we do? Buy new players or a new manager? I’m just saying.
My glass in normally never less than 3/4s full.
Last night I arrived on the button just as they were singing Hi Ho Silver Lining as Wednesday is my Grandson’s footy training night. I left with 7 minutes on the clock along with hundreds streaming out alongside me, purely and simply because I was feeling proper embarrassed. There was not one good performance from the original 11 starters, it was shambolic, shameless and a miserable game of football to watch.
In truth and I mean this sincerely, my Six year old grandson played better than any of that shower of charlatans in Gold and Black. He recieved a fantastic cross from one of his little mates about chest height, he rose up spun round and volleyed into the back of the net. His little face was a treat, he looked over to see if we were looking and a great smile beamed across his face. To be honest in all truthfulness I couldn’t bear to look any of the Wolves players in the face, I may have said something I would regret, (like good game, well played)
What a laughing stock they were, not one player turned up they all took a night off.
Walking back to the car a little old dear, ardent Wolves fans bent double with Arthritis was scurrying home and she said exactly what was running through my mind for the 83 minutes of the game, ” win or lose those guys get paid” they don’t give a shit” her words not mine.
We were robbed.
But the trouble is it was by our own team.
Anyone that comes on this blog and say’s we’re over reacting, I suggest a trip to Specsavers to have the rose tint removed from those glasses.
We were diabolical. I am now slipping into the KJ doubters camp, he just does not have an answer. Please for God’s sake don’t quote how unlucky and how close we were last year, we were very feckin lucky in a lot of matches that we rode our luck to win last season.
Roll on the January window, you can well and truly forget that.
It’s onwards and backwards again guys & gals, it’s going to be a long, long season.
Thank God Iv’e got my gender change op to look forward to.

Fortress Molineux indeed!
The trouble is that, no matter how thick the walls or how deep the moat, if there is someone inside who can’t be bothered to lock the postern gate, the fortress will fall.
And if that someone (or some two in this case) don’t care about the well being of the garrison, then the defenders will lose heart or defect.
And the fortress will fall.
As a saddo Lord of The Rings fan with a very short attention span, I’ve often looked at teams over the years and thought which characters from LoTR would fit which player.
The Doog would have been Aragorn of course.
Waggy would be Legolas, light footed and able to run over the deepest and softest layer of snow (or mud).
Bully would have definitely been Boromir, all Biff bash bosh and up yours you blue and white shirted orc!
If you know the book you can have hours (or minutes anyway) of fun doing this.
If you don’t know the book, or couldn’t give a toss about it you’ve probably already stopped reading.
But the two who most fit their mythical characters are Morgan and Moxey.
The scouser is Saruman, the white wizard who seemed to be a goody but was corrupted by the thirst for power and turned into an evil bugger intent on despoiling all that was once beautiful.
And Mr Moxey is Grima Wormtongue, the archetypal sycophant, flatterer, liar, and manipulator.
Together they tried to rule Middle Earth but were both eventually thrown out of their stronghold and destroyed by the powers of good.
But that was fantasy. We’re dealing with the real thing here.
Anybody want two tickets for Saturday?
After mulling over our present predicament and plumbing the depths of depression I’ve decided that I’m a glass empty sort of chap after all.
After all, if you don’t empty your glass, you can’t refill it.
And I believe it’s your round.
See you Saturday.
Blob the builder is more of a Smaug to me, lording over and hoarding his ill gotten gains.
( and his two dragon exes dovetail into the analogy nicely!)
greasel is far too evil to be Wormtongue, he is the epitome of Sauron, an all seeing (he thinks) eye, vastly superior in his ivory tower, with an army of slaves way beneath him.
He needs to read the book and see how it ends.
For me, Bully and Mutchy would be Frodo and Sam
Skipper Mike Bailey, Gimli.
I agree about Waggy and Doog, with Kenny Hibbitt and John Richards our Merry and Pippin.
Frank Munro would be great as Boromir
But, sadly, over the last 35 years or so, we have never found our Gandalf, someone to guide us, our own wizard.
With regards to last night, the only good thing to be said is…………………………………
While i agree on all Morgans shortcomings which is now rapidly turning the club into a shambles i dont really believe Kenny is a top manager at this level. Although we have not spent much it has still been spent badly and is still more than the top 3 clubs have spent put together. He has now had around 6 seasons managing in the championship without ever getting closer than a sniff at the top 6. There are a lot of managers around in and out of work who have got promoted from this division.
Not calling for his head the current ownership probably isnt capable of bringing in anyone better but i am not a believer either. ( If you still believe KJ is the right man then doesnt that imply M&M did in fact get something right ?).
Wow, what a shower of s**t that was. I drove up from London genuinely expecting a battling performance to right the wrongs of Sunday. KJ’s “Fortress Molineux” call requires slightly more effort than “here are the keys, make yourself at home, don’t mind us”. I drove home very disappointed wondering why I’d bothered if the players couldn’t be arsed to even try to win. It’s ok, I know the answer, its because I’ve always been a Wolves fan and always will be. However, I pay my money to be entertained either by a win (by any means) or a battling draw/defeat, not to watch 11 ***ts stroll around as though they can’t possibly lose and then resign themselves to defeat immediately they let a goal in. These are some of the questions I asked on my drive home:
Why, when we did put a pass into their box was it always a high cross? ALF and BA looked like midgets amongst their defence (not that BA found himself in the box much as he seemed intent on being a defensive midfielder for large parts of the game) whom gleefully cleared every opportunity?
Why does DB insist on taking the ball from the keeper and hoofing it forward when his ability to find a Wolves player appears to be less than 50%?
Why can’t James Henry get 25% of his shots from outside the area on target?
What is wrong with Golborne?
Why is it Ojo only seems to play 1 decent game in 3? & Why is he picked for the 2 games after he has a good performance?
If Coady is better than Price then the statistical modelling deployed by WWFC is fundamentally flawed. Will they release the data to prove it?
I don’t want answers but I do expect so much better than the rubbish served up last night. I’m sorely tempted to turn my back on the game on Saturday if they fail to try but I suspect I’ll be evicted considering my seat position if I do.
This blog is cathartic & that’s exactly what you need after watching what was a totally inept display from professional footballers.
I can only exempt Jack Price & maybe Afobe from condemnation. I cannot believe the lack of pressing, the lack of shape, the lack of heart, & the complete lack of respect for the paying fans, unless you’re from Brentford.
We were a crock of shite last night. Hope Edwards is fit for Saturday, he definitely has heart.
But until the coaches work out how we’re going to play then we’ll continue to be vulnerable & easy to beat.
There was no system no way of patterned play last night. That’s down to poor coaching. Their first goal came because we gave away space & let them play at will.
Picking the right players would help but I was most in despair about how we played the game. It looked like a bunch of kids playing a kick around in the park.
Press, press is the message from the front to the back. And defend your goal for your life.
Last night as bad as anything Saunders, Connor& Solbaken served
up. Disgusted from the Billy Wright!
For those of us brought up on the Wolves of the ’70’s the last 35 years have been very hard to take. Years and millions spent labouring to get out of the Championship. Flirtations with the lower divisions and occasional bankruptcies. Managers have come and gone and none has ever looked like establishing a legacy such as Shankly, Ferguson, and even Dario Gradi. Managers who have been seen as ‘revolutionaries’ at other clubs (McGhee at Leicester, Solbakken at Copenhagen) come to Molineux and fall flat on their faces. Managers considered to be ‘a safe pair of hands’ (Taylor, McCarthy) forget to bring their gloves.
What is the reason ? Probably there are many. Appointing Jonathan Hayward as Chairman was probably as big a mistake as Jack ever made. Until he appointed Moxey as CEO. The lack of on-field progress under Moxey is scandalous. In the 15 years he has been at the club we have been to the Premiership twice, but always struggled, and spent a sobering season in the 3rd Division. Otherwise its been a series of mind-numbingly repetitious fixtures in the Championship. The club may be secure financially off the pitch, but crowds of thousands are not going to turn up to admire our state of the art academy or the re-developed North Bank. Without success on the pitch the club becomes nothing but an empty financial vehicle – a business – devoted to keeping people in employment. The best paid of which is, of course, Moxey himself. Reports indicate that even in the season we went down to the 3rd division, Moxey still took home 500.000 in salary. Good money if you can get it and enough to buy you a nice lifestyle in Congleton where, I believe, he resides.
Of course, having set up this cash-cow to ensure his luxurious lifestyle Moxey is not going to quit. As he pointed out at the announcement of Morgan selling, he is paid to take this abuse. No he’s going nowhere. But maybe he can explain to me, ‘cos I sure don’t understand, why Wolves, which has far bigger average gates and more TV income than Brentford not to mention the continuing parachute payments, can end up being played off the park in our own stadium by such a relatively poorly resourced club?
I’m dreading the next two matches. As John Cleese said (in ‘Clockwise’);
“Its not the despair. I can take the despair. Its the hope I can’t stand”
That is one of THE great quotes in the history of the moving picture and should really replace the “Out of darkness…” one as the Wolves motto.
And the one that should be adopted by Wolves fans everywhere and aimed at the hierarchy is from another one of my all time favourite films.
“Don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining”.
After last night and the way I feel right now I might stay up the boozer Saturday and watch NZ v South Africa in the rugby. But by the time it gets round to Saturday morning I just know where I will be come 3 o’clock. I was saying last night during the match that I haven’t seen a top 6 top flight Wolves side since 1979/80 when I was a spotty kid. As middle age gently takes hold I am beginning to think I never will again (mega rich oil billionaire new owner excepted)…
Wolves Dogger how long are you going to blame Steve Morgan and not mention the real cause Kenny Jackett. If you cannot give balanced blogs and keep harping on about Morgan just pack up now.
Why has,nt Jackett commented, protested or on principle resigned his job if Morgan and Moxey have restricted him ay ? Is he weak and spineless
Who selected and played that shower last night Morgan or Moxey ay ?
Who provided the formation and tactics Morgan or Moxey ay ?
Who were the shower on the pitch playing for Morgan or Moxey ?
The manager has reached his level after an impressive Wolves start, as he did when walking out at Swansea and Millwall.
Give Coot the Boot NOW and get in Nigel Pearson before someone else does.
You Dogger writing a blog you should see the wood from the trees but you don,t you plank.
Keep blaming Morgan thats the level of you and your sheep. Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalux
Dear Garry Gonzalez
Can you please explain ‘Wolves Dogger’? ay?
Moooooooooooooooo!
I have to say, Iv’e been a scrabble fan all my life and on this great blog site Iv’e had the ultimate Eureka moment.
I spotted something truly remarkable, if you play around with the words Garry Gonzales, it spells out ” I’m a complete arsehole of the first order”
Anyone else spot anything similar you can make????
Nice one Shirley T.
Oh! Sorry. I forgot I mustn’t call you Shirley.
Airplane! Or maybe Aircrash in our current situation.
What about ” ragy rong lezza ” , in other words an angry female who bats for the other side and is consistently factually incorrect. Just about sums up his, sorry her, blogs.
That anyone should be surprised at these unfolding events is beyond my reasoning. The result of having a non interested owner and a cheapskate CEO was entirely predictable. In effect we have ended up with a group of very average players, many of whom are of no better than Div one ability. We have zero experience, nor any real leadership. We have no team– just a shambolic group of individuals who are so badly coached that they give the impression of having just met prior to the game.
To get all of this in proper perspective, we were last night thrashed by a very poor team who themselves will likely struggle against relegation. Yet we somehow contrived to make them look half decent. Our non performance was inexcusable, a total disgrace.
Let`s be real. The issue now is not the implications of the long term ownership of the club, but of getting the players we are stuck with sufficiently organised and motivated so we can actually survive in this division. I for one increasingly doubt that Mr Jackett has the ability to do this.
It’s as if KJ can’t stand and be counted..or he’s too much of a favourite here…
He picks the team..he trains them(or should do)big lol and it is his responsibility to address failings as in – ‘come and get us Wolves’ in the first 20mins goal give away …and even if we pull one back we auto give one away again..
I’m sick of his what we did what we should of done because he hasn’t the ability to put it right..
He meddles with a successful team and then changes it..
He is a first division Manager..full stop.
I know I’ve mentioned big Sam who’s gone but tell me all could ANYONE here believe he would of done the things that KJ has done..
We have problems with Morgan ..sure but listen to me , we really have problems with Jacket too..
We lost to Brentford yes Brentford for Christ sake not Barcelona..
To me it was all about driving the team forward not only to win but with tactics and a strategy that would outfox their manager..
He must be pissing himself laughing..
We all know that it’s very unlikely that we could be relegated but we also all know that the playoffs barring a Miricle is just a pipe dream..
Then there is the problem of keeping Afobe……
Misery …you are back (yet again)
“He is a first division Manager..full stop.”
Isn’t that good? I think he is a League One manager.
You know what I meant…he certainly is not a PL manager or a championship manager..
Spot on with your assessment of the lack of managing / coaching ability. Is it any wonder that players are demotivated and confused, when the coach changes his team selection, his ideas and playing method as often as I change my socks ?
By the way just look at B`ham City. No resources. No cash. But a manger who has got average guys playing well beyond their individual capabilities. They are a team playing for each other, with belief and with growing confidence. Now wouldn`t that be nice for us to see ! !
However, I think your dead wrong in your confidence that we will not have to fight a relegation battle. If our major playing shortcomings are not rapidly addressed we could very quickly be down there in the bottom three.
Mike, I think you should change your socks more than once or twice a week.
He doesn’t change around the players too much. The defense is the same almost every time. And then we have Afobe and Le Fondre. There are some rotation in midfield, which I think is necessary. When we lose he has to do changes, and it’s also important to rest some of the players. What’s the meaning with having competition if we play the exact same team every time?
Before the season Jackett told the media he wanted a plan B. He went for a diamond, playing more central as plan A, and a plan B where the focused on wing play. I haven’t really noticed any big in game changes in strategy other than substitutions of wingers (too subtile change of play, I reckon). A team of professional players should cope with such minor strategic changes. It’s not rocket changes.

Interesting information from Companies House today. On Monday this week Steve Morgan resigned as a director. In his place Mr Ashley Martin Lewis was appointed. His occupation is a Finance Director with a connection to Morgan’s company Bridgemere.
I assumed that Morgan would stay as a director until the club was sold even though he was no longer chairman. He’s obviously bailed out completely and put his own man in (to keep an eye on Moxey?).
A spicy thread ! At least KJ is carving out a unique niche in Championship history. In a division notorious for rapid change he must easily be overall the longest serving manager never to be promoted or relegated, in the play offs, sacked or linked to any other job – sail on Kenny boy.
In the first half we seemed to be pioneering a new tactic called the false midfield. Unfortunately having no one playing in midfield did not confuse Brentford for long and they found they could move the ball from their goal to ours with relative ease in fact their first goal was the result of a series of passes that must have reached double figures and was reminiscent of the 1970’s Brazilian team. Another curious tactic is when Baath passes to McDonald who then passes back to Baath who then hits it up field to the opposition. It could work possibly if Baath kicked the ball higher and rather like a rugby union player ran after it with the rest of the team behind him. Do we practice set pieces? Corners free kicks throw ins all had that random quality I associate with a pinball machine. It was hard to watch but like passing car crash it was it hard to look away. I suppose if it’s true you learn a lot from your mistakes than last night must be worth a shelf load of encyclopaedias. With the Southbank as mute as swans and Brentford fans positively operatic in their ecstasy, four words kept ringing in my ears Our Pride Your joy Our Pride Your joy Our Pride Your joy Our Pride Your joy Our Pride Your joy Our Pride Your joy Our Pride Your joy Our Pride Your joy Our Pride Your joy Our Pride Your joy
Something smells here. This is the same squad that played well against Fulham, and beat Huddersfield by three in a tight game. They even looked half decent for twenty minutes in the first half at Derby, but by all accounts they were both witless and aimless last night. We can all have an off day, but from what people have described here the performance, or lack of it, was something special. Somethings gone on to cause this which clearly they don’t want the fans to hear about.
Many moons ago Wanderers travelled to Southampton and were pasted 9 – 3. Appears they stayed overnight in an hotel and a certain wing-half took a small fortune off his team-mates in a card school. He was transferred out of the club within six weeks. I think there’s more than meets the eye in last night’s fiasco………..
Midfield wanderer,
It’s you mate!
Or should I say, the lack of you.
Because on Sunday and last night there was no midfield at wanderers.
Great post buddy, somethings definitely amiss somewhere at the Mol.
I did spot two of the Batthi brothers hanging around the ground with tape measures, perhaps Asda want a bigger carpark.
I find the swing from playing the way we did against Fulham and Huddersfield to last night’s debacle almost incomprehensible . In such a short space of time we have gone from potential top 6 ( I personally never thought we were good enough by the way) to likely bottom 6 .
Is there any other club that has such wild swings in form? I don’t think so. Why us then?
When the manager doesn’t appear to know his best side or system and keeps changing them every game, that might be one reason. Coady in for Price was as baffling as it was utterly ridiculous .
Kenny seems to like to blame others but it is his responsibility to get them up for a game.
I assumed that the Fulham and Uddersfield games signalled an upturn in spirit and fortune. I had assumed that those who reported that contracts and transfer stuff had unsettled the squad were right. I had expected that the Price/Macca partnership had proved its worth and Coady would not just walk back in. Like everyone else, I’d expected this was the sort of game to take by the scruff of the neck. I’d assumed that professionals worth their salt would bounce back and have something to prove after Derby. I had hoped that our young squad might just show what youngsters given their chance could achieve, whilst often saying we needed wily experience. I was WRONG on all counts, m’lud. Assumption, expectation and hope………all dangerous and in serious danger of deep recession.
November has come early this year.
And I wondered how long it would be before someone mentioned Pearson. Pearson, Moxey and Morgan – now there’s a trio to reckon with. And despair over.
Some fans say that Kenny has “lost the dressing room”. Or could it be trouble at mill? Could gambling losses or something similar be a factor?
History can repeat itself. When things went wrong for us in the PL it later came out that several of the players had each lost a small fortune investing in the Ponzi scheme run by MIchael McIndoe. That sort of thing can seriously demoralise a tight-knit bunch of players, such as in a football first team squad.
Downbeat KJ in his pre-match compulsory interview for Wolves site.
With Dominic Iorfa out on Saturday because of 5 bookings, we have 4 fit defenders at the club.
Wonder whose fault that is? It’s pretty incredible, indeed amazing that for football reasons we may at some point have to play 3 at the back.
There’s something awry here, I don’t think anyone would be surprised at anything that came out of the club after the eve of game sale of Stearman, & then Mr Big bowing out after an altercation with disgruntled fans.
Bets for what’s next? I’d go for Jackett going, either of his own will or pushed.
An outside bet could be we beat Middlesborough 6-0, & then go on to paste Blues by the same score the week after, prompting Mr Big to come back to the fold promising a treasure trove for new players & a video screen.
Morgan has chucked in the towel. I won’t repeat the arguments as to why this is a good thing as I and others have stated them many times on here. He is absolutely culpable for why we find ourselves where we are but he is not the only one. Moxey is also guilty as charged. Him remaining in post is breathtaking but is hardly surprising given the lapdog eunuchs who comprise our board. I pray to God that they are all swept away by the new owners. I have been an advocate of jackett and I am not going to call for his head now but I have to say I’m worried. Yes, he has not been backed properly but what little money he has had has been largely wasted and we now have an unbalanced squad with lots of very average players e.g savile, Rowe, Cody etc. and his constant changing of the team and some of his selections are baffling. If what he has purchased is as a result of the much vaunted Kevin thelwells recruitment policy then he too should be summarily dismissed. If we only purchase players that are “better than what we have”, I’m the next pope. I’m also sceptical of these great kids. To me they look like they might be decent championship players in the fullness of time but they are not Robbie Keane or Joleon lescott. If we are basing expectations of success on iorfa, house, etc then I’m afraid we are over hyping them, they are simply not that good.
Ewe r welcome dogger

Hugely disappointing to say the least. A potential 6 hour ish round trip from Devon turned into a nightmare 8 hours and the display wasn’t much better. I doubt Wolves gained a fan last night after taking my 8 year old to his first ever football match. Poor lad wanted to go home after his soggy half time burger and I couldn’t blame him. Honestly can’t remember witnessing such a dire and boring display? It was also my first game in a few years and I won’t be rushing back any time soon. I won the tickets courtesy of skyBet and wish I hadn’t. Let’s hope an improvement is just around the corner or it could become a very long season.
P.S. Thomas- I saw you at the pedestrian crossing (I think?) near the ground prior to kick off and recognised your face. I think I stared a little then ran off in a rush to collect my tickets. Sorry I never said hello. Keep up the good work with the blog.
Devon.
Two seasons ago I took my three Grandchildren to a game. At half time the eldest boy and his sister wanted some sweets, so I took them down and did the deed.
My wife told me that while we were away, the little one whispered in her ear, “Nanny, don’t tell granddad but this is rubbish”
How right he proved to be.
Out of the Mouths of Babe’s!
I only take him now if he’s been really naughty 🙂
I’m not yet a KJ doubter but would suggest if we need someone who can get a silk purse from a sows ear, look no further than down the road.Gary Rowett. What he’s done with a shower of the brown stuff is nothing short of remarkable.
But then why the hell would Rowett come to us? If KJ did go (and I haven’t yet lost faith – the causes of the situation aren’t just down to him) maybe the next on the Burton management conveyor would be a candidate – Jimmy Floyd, unlikely as that might have seemed a few years ago.
Here’s what we do Saturday against mighty Boro. 1. Reduce the size of our goal by 2 foot 2. We play Ikeme AND Martinez in goal 3. We play with 14 players 4. Boro can only have 9 5. We have a 2 goal start 6. Boro goalie has to have a blindfold 7. We are allowed a penalty for any foul in Boro half. 8. SEB is resigned on emergency loan and a burger bar is installed in the back of Boro net to encourage SEB predatory instincts …. I feel this should ensure at least a draw and kick start the season.
A brilliant post. I can`t stop laughing. The sad thing is that what you said as a joike is actually true ! !
Do you realise Iorfa is suspended on Saturday so we have 4 defenders to choose from so no defenders on the bench? We all know that kids need to be rotated and it certainly looks as if Hause needs a break. Coady was shocking and after Price came on he pushed further forward with Afobe on the wing..Baffling. Why didn’t we put Bright up front? It couldn’t have gotten any worse.
Let’s hope Edwards is fit and we can go back to one up front rather than play total football with MacDonald at centre half and Afobe in defensive midfield.
Will get worried when Leeds are higher in the table.
Those were the days
I’ve just spent the last hour reading fellow bloggers comments on last nights diabolical display or lack of one.
I’m beginning to think KJ is cracking under the pressure and if we do lose the next two games I think he’ll walk.
I know he’s had restraints but he bought in players who imo are not as good as what we had already, so imo he’s wasted what he’s been given in buying cheap players hoping they would make the grade, with that its clouded his judgement in the way he sets up his side .
I think he’s trying to accommodate players who really aren’t good enough with that he allows Afobe to play where he wants instead of playing him where he can do the most damage and that is up front, the part he played so well last term.
KJ has gotta back to basics and stick to a settled side and formation when possible.
4-4-2 .with changes from the starting line up of last night.
Worried about the next 2 games.UTW.
What can I say that hasn’t already been said. We need a miracle of biblical proportions if we are going to even survive and THAT’S not an over reaction any one who was there last night will testify to that and here why.
Come January Afobe will go to the Premier and McDonald will probably go to as well if not to a team in the top 6 of the championship and who will going to replace them the like of Coady and RVP up front and that’s all the creativity gone from the team bearing in mind it looks as though we need to score at least 3 goals a game to stand a chance of winning……………………we’re FUCKED oh well a trip to Southend on a Tuesday in January’s not that bad…..the fair will still be on !
Life is cruel – a few weeks ago we were feeling like our team was going to be in the Champions League final in a couple of years, instead we are brought down to earth and would willingly accept staying in this division.
The joys of being a Wolves fan…………a bit like my ex wife……….hot one minute then as cold as ice…………you never know/knew where you stood………….
It won’t change, the yo-yo life is with us for good.
I tell you what guys and gals, this blog if full of deep rooted passion.
If only we could bottle it and drop feed it to the players, We Would win the Champions league in a couple of years. I know Brompto, “it will take three”
One of the main reasons I love the Wolves is the fans banter, thank god that is consistent. Now all we need is the team to be the same, Kenny actually came out and said it this morning.
Finally found the Auto correct And the predictive text. So I hope that my blogs will now read as I intended them to.
Sorry guys, it’s been a pain but hopefully that’s it cured.
