Credit to the 10 that remained on the pitch last night.
I thought they acquitted themselves admirably given the wholly unpleasant scenario they were faced with.
By the end I would argue 3-0 actually flattered Arsenal, given the overall balance of play and the chances we carved out with a man less.

Sure, the Gunners put their foot on the brake after bagging a quickfire second, but Wolves at least made a semi-competitive game of it, which deserves some level of recognition.
Kevin Doyle, controversially recalled to the starting eleven, thrived in the familiarity of the lone-striker role. He was also desperately unlucky not to score, denied only by a superb Wojciech Szczesny save, tipping his looping header just past the post.
Kightly and Jarvis offered able support down the flanks and their energy levels were also crucial in keeping the score down to a respectable level at the other end.
Karl Henry never tossed in the towel either and vigorously protected the back four as Arsenal constantly probed to pick a way through.
Above each of these players though, I have to single out Ronald Zubar. I thought the mercurial Frenchman was fantastic.
Watching him defend so resolutely and still have the energy to gallop forward and ask questions of the Arsenal defence was something special I thought.
If we can maintain the Zubar/Kightly partnership next season, I think that’s one area of the team we don’t have to worry about.
But what of the early penalty incident that effectively ended the contest before it even started?
Having seen it back a few times now, I find it difficult to lambaste the referee too much. However much he tried not to, Bassong does stumble into the back of Walcott and if he gives the penalty, I don’t think the man in black has a choice about sending the defender off.
Many will no doubt disagree.
Why both van Persie and Walcott took it upon themselves to taunt the crowd after plundering their early goals is anyone’s guess. Completely unnecessary given the situation.
For Walcott to then applaud all four sides of the ground when he was substituted, as if to say ‘I’m the bigger man’ is nothing short of ridiculous. He went down in my estimation.
Of course, none of this really matters though. We were down before kick-off and we would still have been down at full-time, whatever the outcome.
But a modicum of comfort can at least be taken from some long overdue pride in the shirt.
At this stage of such a terrible season, what else is there?

I agree completely Thomas.
At least we played ‘admirably’ but rather sad that a 3-0 defeat should be looked at,
as something of a crumb of comfort.
I wonder whether Kightly and Zubar will be with us next season?
There are several clubs I’m sure, in the lower half of the league, who will see the potential in them, as Premiership players.
Other such as Hennessey, Jarvis, Milijas, Fletcher, Doyle and Henry, fall into this category.
Unless the ‘board’ show some ambition and pick a ‘manager’ who tempts them to stay,
I can see us starting next season in a similar position, squad wise, to when Hoddle left.
Still an encouraging performance but I doubt we will get another point this season.
Agree, Robin, there could be a mass exodus without a respected manger, non dithering purses.
If these guys have a reasonable length of their contract still to run then don’t allow them to leave. Lets not get rid of our best players – we’ll just have to replace them. There is a core of talent in the club which we need to hold onto if we are to make a swift return to the premiership.
I would like to see how the present squad would have performed under a manager like O’Neill . . . . or Curbishley. At least give the new manager the opportunity to hold onto those players he feels have the quality to be part of the club’s future. I think you’ve named most of them.
Agree Thomas thought it was a decent performance by 10 men against a Premier league team in form and with all the tricks – as a fan i dont see the point in being negative about everything all time anyway.
I’m ashamed to say I left at half time.
I’ve never done it before and I watched the rest in the pub in town. I just couldn’t stomach it.
And as usual, we looked great at 2 nil down. Kightly and Zoobs are good shouts to get the plaudits.
RVP and Walcott… well, lets leave them to it. Walcott had a dig – we gave him pelters as Alan Brazil would say – he gave it back. I saw it more of a “Goodbye, you won’t see me for a while”
Our club has been ripped apart in 3 months and I couldn’t help looking at the new stand and thinking “I’d stay with that amount of seats”.
Ho hum. I didn’t expect a win or anything like it but again, it was the manner – the ref made a decision that could have made the game more entertaining. He chose to suck off Arsene Wenger…..who was the ref again…? I didn’t catch his name – I suppose many people didn’t as he is obviously trying to get his way up the FA ladder.
I thought we played with great heart and I would like to thank the players for not lying down last night. Zubar played with his heart all over his shirt and Henry showed Johnson how to be a captain. I thought the south bank were in good form apart from the chanting of you don’t know what you’re doing when Davies was taken off. I think TC’s options were limited. The sending off was unnecessary and ruined the game as a contest. The FA needs to reconsider this rule. I want to see skilful players protected but I want to see a contest. But enough negativity, 37 points will be enough.
First home match I’ve been able to go to for a long time, my dad relinquishing his season ticket to me for the evening. South bank was in terrific form and I have to say I enjoyed it despite the scoreline. Great battling spirit and a few flashes of what i thought was the skill that would keep us in the premier league earlier in the season.
Michael Kightly and Zubar were phenomenal. I think kights is the man we absolutely have to hold on to. Jarvis will go but maintaining kights and zubes should be top priority.
To perform how they did with just 10 men and the knowledge that we’re essentially already relegated. I think 3-0 is a small victory on our part.
Get us a good manager and bring on the championship!
Adding some praise for Karl Henry too. Great passion from him. Completely deserves to wear that captains armband
Wolves 0 Arsenal 3
That is what is now in the stats book, forever.
No amount of we played well or any other plaudits will change the fact that we lost, again.
Now to the performance.
Are we not rose colouredly looking at so called pride, when it is blatently obvious that the penny has finally dropped with our “players”, and they are upping their performances to try and impress their next employer?
I have said all this season that we have the players in the squad to keep us up.
However, we have never had a manager to get the best out of these players, who consequently lost all faith, stopped performing, and now, when it’s too late, have decided to start playing to their potential.
If they had been true professionals they would have been playing at or near their full potential every match, and we would by now be safely in mid table, or higher.
Any of them who express even the slightest hint of want awayness should be fucked off forthwith, and replaced with players who really want to stay and fight next season.
Messrs Johnson and Ward, you are excused from this scenario, you are not wanted or needed ever again.
FOWB
Told ya – they’d do it for themselves eventually…. X
I disagree – the players were never good enough to keep us up. A Championship squad heading straight back to where it belongs!
With each week that passes the club is sinking deeper and deeper into the Barry White.
Don’t forget this week’s procrastination is next week’s panic…………….
How is a 0 – 3 home loss a decent performance?
The embarrassment continues.
Mark agree. My worry is clear out will start before we have a new Manager. Given the crassness and gross incompetence that took place last time, I am not hopeful.
If greaseball is on his way who will be negotiating?
New boss could find a Hoddle esque position.
Think Kightley will stay can’t think anyone would want to take him on with his injuries.
Jarvis will go with Doyle, Fletcher and O’Hara. Henners to Wengerland.
Hopefully most expensive sub(not used) Johnson will hopefully FO.
Need swift and decisive action-is this too much to hope for?
Clipboard looks and sounds depressed. Moron the silence is deafening
FOJM, SM, TC AND JOHNSON.
There are always some who want the embarrasment to continue anyway.
Pass the snorkel
And the iceberg!!
Fitting that it’s the 100th anniv of SS Titanic going down, but they managed time to film a movie about it, we are sinking too fast for that!!
I agree wholeheartedly with Thomas’s comments. Why van Persie and Walcott couldn’t celebrate in front of their own supporters is beyond me.
What upset me most last night, though, was the South Bank’s reaction to David Davis being substituted. Connor needed to bring another defender on so one of the midfield players had to go. If it had been me, it would have been Dave Edwards, but if it had been me, Edwards wouldn’t have been in the team in the first place.
But why have a go at Connor when he needs our support? The poor guy had to do something, he’s doing his best and, yeah, his best isn’t good enough. He didn’t ask to be a premier league manager, the board appointed him and he’s honourably trying to see it through. He’s probably longing for the season to end like the rest of us.
Adrian u say of TC : “He didn’t ask to be a premier league manager”
How do you know?
He must have had a choice….
If he had been manager material surely before the ‘offer’ from morgan and moxey, he’d have had other ‘offers’.
He ‘accepted’ being a ‘premier league manager’ and has failed miserably.
Like the board his ego is bigger than the good of Wolves.
I have no pity for him at all….
Came up with arsenal last night, ref was biased towards us and should have only given a yellow card for the pen. I’ve gotta say , you wolves fans are a credit to your club for your backing despite the position you find yourself in. All the best from us gooners be in it the premier or championship next year. The premier league needs fans like yours . Respect to you all and good luck
trying so hard to be positive but really struggling.. only silence from above!! arrogance or embarrasment?? i reckon the latter but reckon more embarrasment to come…….really thought we were pushing on in the prem but no, we got a stand instead-thanks but no thanks..didnt need one or want one-just improving the team was what i wanted ..instead , put it in reverse and end up back in the championship..thats me finished being positive!
Before the game i thought we would get a right old drubbing,6 0r 7 nil,but was pleased we only conceeded 3,but i thought they toyed with us for a time until we decided to have a go
our self.
Like everyone else i thought the jumped up ref was trying to make a name for himself with the sending off of which i thought was really harsh.
Nice words from the gooner Mark, but EVERY Ref are biased towards ALL bottom clubs and thats been proven with stats.
Time now to settle with whats coming, and that means a NEW MANAGER IN NOW.just hope it
is’nt that bag of shit f##kin megson who was at the game again last night,if he is appointed
manager here i will be taking my season ticket back for a refund, just don’t trust that slimy
greasey bastard POXEY,Because thats the sort of thing he’d do to take the piss out of us wolves fans.I hope MORGAN NOW realizes what a mug he’s been for putting up with the crap job POXEY’S done, i bet if he was running one of his building projects he would’nt last the morning so WHY should WE.FOJM,FOTC.NOW
I think you need to get your computer looked at mate, the caps lock button appears to be sticking.
WHY’S THAT THEN,SORRY ABOUT THAT MUST REMEMBER TO CLICK IT OFF,OOP’S done it
again.I think i must be a METAPHRAST…FOSKD.
Can anyone tell me one, just one, positive thing wolves have done this season. Because I cant think of even one good thing.
Sacking Mick.
Just everything surrounding it was wrong… timing, post sacking recruitment, PR…..
The tactics and team selection for Millwall at home were excellent.
What happened with B’ham game then.?.Another lesser side.
I think Henry has made us look like a far more solid team in the last couple of games. I reckon if he’d stayed fit/not got suspended, we’d still be in with a fighting chance. At least the players look like they are actually trying now.
Kightly has been excellent the last few games, hope we hold onto him.
Hope the fat greasy weasel has learnt from his mistakes and has some decent candidates lined up. Hopefully they are doing stuff behind the scenes and not just sitting on their arses like when they sacked Mick.
Oh, and Johnson can fuck off. I hope he never plays for us again.
Like i said, must get rid of POXEY first or else its more heartache.FOJM.FOTC.
Great quote from the Mail yesterday. Our esteemed Chief Exec gave them a quote that whatever happens this season its all part of our plans to cement our position in the Premiership. Their reporter wrote “Not even Baldrick ever came up with such a cunning plan”.
How much longer must we suffer at the hands of this useless, incompetent oaf???
Wolves fans have to look to next season, but the ugly rumours about Megson won`t go away.
For super keV doyle.
WE ALL LOVE WOLVES, WE ALL LOVE WOLVES WE ALL LOVE WOLVES WE ALL LOVE WOLVES.
Morgan do the honourable thing and relieve Mr Moxey of his post please.
Every team that ginger twat megson has been at always ended the same way. He starts well, doesnt change up tactics, starts losing, blames the fans, blames the players (who turn on him) – at which point the chairman sacks him. Every single team. He cant see any personal wrong doing and never accepts tactical/managment faults – sound familiar????
I’d rather have bruce..,hell even TC or MM again.
Please Wolves dont screw this up. Go get curbs, big sam or lee clarke (experience or freshness),
A couple of years back i was dumbfounded by McCarthy’s failure to deal with with a very obvious weakness at left back. It didn’t make sense, it wasn’t logical. Everybody could see we needed to improve that position. It was something we could afford to do and it was in the club’s interests but still nothing was done.
Two years on and we are in such a mess, on and off the pitch, that the Ward debate is almost now a meaningless irrelevance. Except in one way. It was a very early indicator that there are hidden agendas at the club. How else do you explain?…
Hanging onto average Championship players instead of moving them on and gradually relacing them with genuine Premiership class.
Ripping down a pefectly decent stand and creating a monster we didn’t need ahead of strengthening a vulnerable team.
Moxey’s £1.1 wages for running the club on a dangerous (now fatal) shoestring.
Being unable to attract any decent manager to what should in many ways be a very attractive job. (The Wolves DNA. If you think you’re going to run the teamon a footballing basis, DO NOT APPLY!)
Talking about who are next manager might be seems to me a pointless exercise. Until we have a management whose absolute priorities are the team and the supporters, i can’t see any manager being successful.
Did anyone else see Clapboard on BBC Midlands last evening, a more deluded individual I have yet to see or hear. He has not got the balls to resign Morgan does not have the balls to sack poxey. Not in over 50 years as a supporter has our once great club been in such a mess. If there are not changes all over the whole structure of the club we will be lucky to finish in the top half of the championship or division two as it is known by us oldies.
Perhaps we should start a self-help group we could take it in turns to say how ashamed and embarrassed we are to be Wolves fans and if anybody goes in for self denial we can slap them down and ask them what planet they are from…….or we could do it on line……
I thought that’s what this was….
If I hear a lot of slapping, some other sport comes to mind…………….!!!!!
