Around 5.30pm on Sunday evening Wolves will reach the pinnacle of their season – the end.
Finally, thankfully, mercifully, it’s over.

A campaign that began with bold aspiration, high hopes and Mick McCarthy, ends with apathy, relegation and an unknown Norwegian called Ståle waiting to take the reigns.
You couldn’t make it up.
But as we look expectantly towards a new era, Wigan continue to bask in the most successful of their club’s history.
The job Roberto Martinez has done since taking over nearly 3 years ago is nothing short of remarkable.
Dead, buried and written-off more times than I care to remember, his side have once again defied the odds (and the pundits) by remaining in the Premier League.
Hats off to them I say.
They’ve never once strayed from their footballing principles and have been handsomely rewarded with 6 wins in their last 8 games.
The Team
I can’t see it being a much different eleven to the side that drew with Everton last weekend. The likes of Foley and Jarvis probably won’t be risked given that there’s sweet diddly squat on the outcome. This would be my preferred side:

Even I look at that side now and think it looks tired. It’s repeating a point that’s been made countless times before, but our options would surely have been significantly stronger with Guedioura and Hammill to choose from. Hopefully Ståle will give those players the crack of the whip they deserve in a gold shirt.
Prediction League
4 people correctly predicted a draw against Everton last time out. However, none got the scoreline.
So it’s a point a piece for Super Kev Doyle, Philly Pete, Exeter Wolf and theDOOGooder.
Big congratulations to Kowloon Wolf who will definitely finish at the top of this year’s Prediction League table. Only a maximum from Exeter Wolf or Ade in China can deny him the title outright this weekend. I’ll make an official announcement in the match report.
And speaking of the match, I think we’re going to end the season appropriately with a defeat.
Wigan will be footloose and fancy free. They’re playing with great confidence at the moment and I think they’ll do enough to get the win. 3-2.
If you’re at the DW on Sunday, have a great time and get behind the lads as you always do. The away support has been top notch all season.
Up The Wolves.

I have a feeling that Wigan might take the foot off the pedal with the relief of relegation… and we might just nick a result, even though they have been exceptional lately!
2-1 Wolves
wolves 6 wigan 1…watch the players up their game now the new boss is watching ….the operation is nearly over and soon we will all wake up..then the pain starts?!
Wolves 2 – 2 Wigan
Very little effected by the outcome of this one. Bring on the championship and some northern away fixtures. Very chuffed Sheffield Wednesday got promoted. I can go see me babbies play here now.
Another utterly uneventful 0-0.
P.S. Genuinely disappointed that TC has not been given the job full-time. Admittedly, results have not been great, but performances were improving and the players seemed right behind him
Imagine the backlash of fans though if he had been appointed! Sort of see where you’re coming from but I don’t think giving TC the job would have worked
1-1 ROGER JOHNSON 50 YARD SCREAMER
1-1. At last it ends.
Wigan 1 Wolves 3.
Now I know TC is not the next manager can hope for a positive result!
No win for Clipboard.
Wigan 3 Wolves1.
Thank god this debacle is over.
Wigan 2 Wolves 2
No wins for TC as he is shoved out of the limelight and thanks for that. You can’t blame him; he is part of our problem but that has now been partly dealt with by Morgan albeit 4 months too late (well more than that, really).
Let’s get it over with and then move on onwards and upwards!
UTW!
W***n 2 Wolves 3. The players are now playing for TC and SS, if that’s not an incentive to put in a bit more than ” just a good shift ” then I don’t know what is.
last chance this season for our boys to show their true ability, but as Thomas says, this team is looking tired – stale even ? Not because of the hard shifts they’ve been putting in, but because I’m tired of watching them fail week after week.
Still, they may be trying harder than Wigan, dunno, but I too will go for 1-3. That’s us to win 3-1.
A draw to end the season, 1-1.
I kind of half-fancy us to pull off a ‘shock’ win. We’ll be playing to impress the future boss (if he’s there?); they’ve got nothing to play for.
But, back to the task at hand. We are poor, tired and down; and the Prediction League forces me to play the percentages as always.
Wigan 1-0 Wolves
Just a quick well done and thank you to Thomas and Ben for…well…. counselling me throughout this debacle. It’s easy to pop a comment on but I appreciate the work that you do and the time it must take. I think what I am trying to say is “I love you”.
Erm…Anyway, 2 apiece. Jarvis and someone else who will be playing somewhere else.
Thanks mate. You’re too kind. We love each of you, our Wolves Blog children, equally (including Clive).
Wigan 3 Wolves 1
before the final game of this abject season, it seems appropriate to give thanks to you for this blog site.
throughout the most miserable of times, you have continued to show a resolute steadfastness to provide the voice of reason. your insights have proved an invaluable release from the illogical and inexplicable goings-on around us. you have continued to remain loyal and committed, as have we all, as we became the laughing stock of the football world. in spite of all the hurt, you have provided a lifeline to the core of true fans who want, hope and pray for better. so, many thanks, and believe in better times around the corner, and a swift and long-term return to the top flight.
Thanks Mike. It’s been a slog of a season. Not always easy to summon the strength to write previews/reports when it’s yet another abject defeat.
Hopefully better times around the corner will make it a more enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
Nothing to play for but pride, yet Wigan are in form. 2-1 loss for us.
Wigan 2 – 1 Wolves. Fletcher to nod a farewell goal. Roll on next season.
this blog has kept me sane when relying on the OTHER sterile sites would have only frustrated me..thanks guys!! my daughter got it spot on when giving her a lift home this afternoon she said “would you really want the wolves to be a top 4 side dad? ” it left me thinking …why not..then you look at all the jonny come lately s at man citeh crying cos they lost a game and the non atmosphre at arse, man u , and the like…..she added the best and most enjoyable games were in the championship adding how we both love how our fans still get behind the team even if losing 5-0 .ok so were not top flight but lets just make a commitment to keep the faith and enjoy the trip!!…god! im coming over soooooo positive!…nurse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks mate. I think we could all do with being a bit more positive, so hopefully the team will do their part in bringing this about.
ditto..thanks for your hard work!! till next season!
I can’t believe i’m saying this, but i’ve never felt so apathetic about a wolves game in my life. To be quite honest i’ll be relieved once this sorry and depressing season is all over. I just don’t think i have the mental strength or the appetite to revert to watching another season of Championshite football, against “hoof it long” Championshite teams in half empty stadiums, when i know full well, we could and should be playing the likes of Utd, City, Arsenal and Spurs etc, not forgetting of course missing out on the Tesco derbies.
With regard to the last day of the season. I’m hoping and praying that Bolton come down with us, purely because of what that jug eared T**t Mark Davies did to us at the mol, the cheating little shit. So i for one hope that cheats don’t prosper, especially at our expense.
Wigan 2-0
I think he actually pulled that stunt against us, W*A and V***A, but I may be mistaken. He dived against us and went down far too easily in the other games. If I’m wrong then I’ll take it back, but I still think he’s a dirty little cheat mind.
Being quite a new boy to the Wolves Blog I would just like to say how much I have enjoyed it and the chance to have a damn good rant without getting arrested. I look forward to next season and having more positive things to say.
Let’s have a 2-0 win to finish up with.
Thanks again boys for your hard work and well chosen words – The boys done good!
Thanks mate and here here on next season bringing better times.
I can’t see us winning so I’ll go for another draw.
Wigan 2-2 Wolves
those were the days my friend we thought this season would never end wed sing and dance forever and a day..we live the life we choose we fight and never lose we are THE WOLVES oh yes we are THE WOLVES!! come on mr dead get us playing proper football!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well with the new manager watching somewhere, and its probably not for the first time, the players will be playing for their jobs next season. So Wigan 1 Wolves 2.
Just hope TC & MM are not recommending which players we need to buy in the summer, mind you if he is big mates with Woy – the new England manager, maybe the list of those new faces is already written, and the list of those going is also done. Happy days, can`t wait for the close season activity.
Lets get this sorry state of affairs over with a nothing game for both teams so lets put this terrible season to bed and get it over and done with.
Totally Crap’s last game in charge so lets be glad for that, but also lets not forget he’s the one who took us down with a lot of help from his mate McIdiot.
I only hope Mr Solbakken dose’nt suffer fools lightly and fucks him off.
Wigan 2 wolves 1….FOJM,FOTC,
Wolves to win, Wigan have been fighting so hard for everything, that they’ll relax now that they’re safe.
Wigan 1-3 Wolves
By the way I think Kightly is injured unfortunately.
Cant see TC getting that elusive win.
Wigan 3 wolves 0
i heard that one of if not the best striker in norway is likely to follow mr dead …..also if nothing else the players wont be so chummy with the boss which was maybe one of the problems…brian clough always got the best from his teams by BEING the boss..
Wigan will be treating their last home match as a celebration and rightly so; their fans will be expecting to finish the season on a high with the traditional ‘lap of honour’ and a win would be the icing on the cake for them. With that situation in place their players should be motivated enough to go for a win. Our tired and unambitious squad are unlikely to ‘step up’ having failed to do so on nearly every previous occasion this season and therefore I’m sticking to my preferred prediction of 3-1 (to Wigan). I hope they’ve packed an extra box of kleenex on the team coach as TC is likely to get very upset at the end knowing he will always be known as Wolves worst ever manager, he may be No.2 again for a while but expect SS to have him selling programmes before next christmas.
Wigan 2-2 Wolves. Hmmm…
really struggling to understand why t c didnt get the job of manager….reckon hell go to man city with all that experience as defence coach
How many times do we get a lead only to surrender it almost immediatly?
Unsure as to why SEB starts in front of Fletcher.
No wins in 13 games for TC – thank goodness the Viking is coming.
Glad the season is over.
What an ironic scoreline…
On another note – bloody hell, was that a f**king awesome Sunday of football! Remarkable! I’m glad our game didn’t matter so that I could enjoy that!
This is the way the season ends…..This is the way the season ends….Not with a bang but a whimper……
Our dried voices, when
We whisper together
Are quiet and meaningless
We are the stuffed men
Ah but next season………….
In the room the people come and go
Talking of Stale and Michaelangelo……
Perhaps the great man had a soft spot for the Wolves!
bolton could be in real trouble next season with 110 million debt… i know we should have spent on the team but lets be glad were not in their position! AND mr morgan lets see if you are true to your word and invest…but please this time lets be a lot wiser! if so..who knows ? ” well never die well never die , wanderers will never die keep the gold flag flying high!!!!”
Thomas and Ben thank you for keeping the blog flowing, in this the most dreadful of seasons.
Let’s hope Mr.S. will instil some basics with the players and get us winning games.
Morgan its time to make good on your promises and I for one am hoping Clipboard finds another position alongside Mad Mick.
Have a good summer fellow Wolves bloggers.
I am off to the Trent Bridge test later this month-hopefully some relief from the last 9 months.
UTW
I’ll echo that – thanks Ben and Thomas for keeping this blog going through such a dreadful and dispiriting season. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading it along with the comments from all the contributors – thanks to them as well. Great stuff.
Let’s look forward to next season with a bit of hope now.
I had call from my mate who went up to the wigan game and what he said the defence was absolutly dia, they have’nt got a clue, only hope our new boss can get rid of them all and start again because they won’t do any good in the championshite with this shite.
He also said that the wolves fans had a go at johnson whilst warming up so what did he do he clapped the wigan fans that really pissed them off,Don’t know why he was on the bench anyway another bollock by Totally Crap again, the sooner he gets fucked off the better the wolves will be.FOJM,FOTC.
johnson is a blue and always willl be! shuld never have signed the dick head! HE and HE alone is the reason we have been relegated!! id sell her for a fiver!!
JUST LOOKED AT THE FINAL TABLE ,12 POINTS FROM SAFETY JUST GOES TO SHOW HOW SHITE WE WAS…..TC MUST GO NOW.
Been with you on that for ages Jon! Totally Clueless will never be a threat to any manager!
In 20 years of premiership, we are the 3rd worse team. We also have the second worse ever goal difference record, one goal behind Derby. Hope all players, coaches 2x managers, board, ceo, owner are proud of their performances over the last 10 months.
TC has identified the problems he just hasnt been able to do anything about them – 3 points from 39 – awesome but not in a good way.
And the players publicly came out and supported TC. They really are a bunch of thick f%^kers.
For god’s sake, they’re hardly gonna come out and say he was poor when he was manager are they? And remember most players know TC well – hardly a bunch of thick f%^kers!!!
TC’s record over a full season would give wolves a total of 8 points.
why not..he was poor . being loyal is a good thing but only someone waking up from a coma would think anything other than his record being poor. feel sorry for the bloke but didnt do himself any favours with what he has been spouting! a real shame he was put in this position but as a coach of over ten yrs why has our defence been crap for all those years?
I want to thank you all for keeping me sane through this long torrid season. Regularly I prayed that some football may break out! Apart from a few moments It was all my fellow wolves and Thomas & Ben that put in the shift. Sorry guys, I think i may have got away with that one!
Keep up the good work….
He’s got no hair but we don’t care Stale Solbakken!
A new era starts today when Stale is introduced to us all. I am hoping to see a complete shake up of the club. I want to see
A team that marks and tackles hard
A team with pace and mobilty
A team that keeps the ball and plays on the deck
A team that has a cutting edge
A team that can shoot with power and accuracy
There are a lot of players in for a shock in my opinion judging by the delusional crap spouted by the likes of our superb LB on the sanitised.
It’s been all too cosy for far too long with the coaches and players happily producing the same inept and inefficient performances. They desperately need a change of mindset and direction. The first thing you need to solve a problem is to recognise you’ve got one.
I don’t know whether SS will succeed but he will provide change which in my opinion is long overdue.
OK Martin,With you on that mate, with all those attributes i reckon in a couple of season we’ll be a challenge for the mighty Citeh.
Joking apart though we need a total clear out from top to bottom, with a few exceptions,we all know who they are.
Time will tell if Morgan’s made the right choice, but Solbakken’s got a job on if he thinks this squad will do him any favours.FOJM,FOTC.
