I still vividly remember the day Sylvan Ebanks-Blake signed for Wolves.

Procrastinating on BBC Sport, as I often did in the tediously boring job I held back then, the story had just broken.
Excitedly, I shared the bulletin with a Blackburn-supporting colleague sat opposite. He smirked dismissively from his Premier League pedestal and said, ‘Fatty Blake? I wouldn’t expect much.’
For 18 joyously smug months he was unstoppable, averaging better than a goal every two games, including the best Wolves goal I’ve ever seen:
But promotion and the arrival of Kevin Doyle signaled a rapid downturn in both fortune and form.
Pushed down the pecking order as Mick McCarthy decided (correctly) that a one striker approach was the route to safety, he was often held in reserve.
On the rare occasion he did play, more cautious, defence-minded tactics left him isolated, which for a striker who’d previously feasted on endless crosses and dangerous knockdowns was a massive adjustment. Confidence dwindled.
It was also apparent from game one that the dream partnership of Doyle/Ebanks-Blake was a non-starter. Unlike the devastating double-act he’d formed with Chris Iwelumo just a year previous, their contrasting styles simply weren’t compatible.
He scored 2 goals that season (although one of those was against Blackburn) from 27 appearances.
7 goals the following year and just 1 in the season we were relegated suggests SEB just couldn’t cut it at that level.
Who could argue? A striker that averaged 25 goals a season in the Championship netting just 10 times in three top flight seasons.
As the goals dried up, his overall contribution to the team, which was never significant, came under scrutiny.
“He’s too slow.”
“He doesn’t work hard enough.”
“He’s been at the Big Macs again.”
For me though, the equation was always very simple. Put balls into the box and a physical presence alongside him and the goals would come, whatever the level of opposition. Otherwise, don’t bother.
There’s no point shelling long balls up to him or asking him to play with his back to goal thirty yards from the opposition’s penalty area. He is what he is, a striker that comes alive inside the box.
Back in the Championship comfort zone, he continued to find the net on a semi-regular basis. Despite the decrepit form of the team, he hit 15 to end as our top scorer.
There’s a valid theory that we might have avoided a second relegation had Ebanks-Blake’s season not been ended prematurely at St. Andrew’s, where his Wolves career finished how it started, with his name on the scoresheet.
Whether or not that’s true, five and a half years and some 64 goals later, I can safely say that fatty fulfilled expectations.

Agreed.
Class act, good enough for the PL if the team was set up to suit him.
So sad he’s gone.
I’ve only ever really loved 3 wolves players.
Bully, Matty Murray and SEB.
So so disappointed.
agreed but id add paul ince to that….bring him back and sack pie face
I agree KWolf – a sad day. I wish SEB all the best for the future.
Nah nah nah nah na na na! Ebanks blake is wolves number 9. Good luck Sylvan! 🙂 Legend
Agree with the above, he gave me some of the better moments as a Wolves fan. Loved the guy.
One minor thing I’d say in his defence in the Premier League – his seven goals in 2010/11 came in 1308 minutes, basically a shade over 14 full games.
Just think how much worse it would have been if not for Sylvan. Good luck mate, wherever you play.
Sad to see him leave.
His chance in the Prem never really materialised after the pre season injury.
For me he is just another potentiol that Wolves could have developed further.
If you havent got it when you arrive there is nobody at Mol who is going to make you better.
Sad, in another team with a diferent set up he could develop so much more.
That goal against Charlton is one of the best I have ever seen by any player. It still gives me goosepimples when I watch it. He has good times and bad times in a Wolves shirt but he was one of my favourites over the past few years. I wish him a speedy recovery from his broken leg and hope to see him banging the goals in again soon. Best of luck SEB and thanks for the memories 🙂
Definetly a short term loss. With Griffiths lined up to replace him, his absence will insure that Griffiths get enough starts to shine and improve. Griffiths is as good as Ebank is now, with greater potential.
It is time for him to try something new. A fresh environment will do him good. Good luck to Ebanks Blake. I’m sure he’ll do a fantastic job as a goalscorer if he finds the right club.
Thomas ,I agree with your assessment of SEB.No doubt the injury at Brum was a bitter blow and just as he was getting into goalscoring form.Confidence is a big factor with Ebanks. The question you have not covered though is how the hell have we let his contract run out.I posted many times on the E and S site last summer that his contract needed sorting out.We had just sold a striker for £12m,yet we were unable or unwilling to extend the contract of the only natural striker on our books(ignoring Griffiths). SEB himself said he was not the sort of person to go knocking on the door looking for a new contract. This is just one example of many errors of judgement from the owner and chief executive. We will miss him next season, unless they can bring in a decent natural goalscorer, and they are hard to find and don’t come cheap.
Nail squarely on the head for me. We have an owner and CEO who think they are so bloody clever but yet time after time screw up big time. They and they alone are totally responsible for the mess we are in. There are no excuses but they keep coughing them out. What you see is what they have done. Yet they think they are so bloody clever, but never ever learn. Trust me we are going to go straight on down the same road. Last season they said they had put in place a team that should have been competitive in the Championship…………. stupid of us we actually thought they wanted promotion.
This year he is putting together a team to compete in the third tier. They will fail again.
I seriously wonder what there goal is.
Moxey will be saying soon SEB had made up his mind and we could not keep him.
Treated properly and coached properly he would have been superb for us, in fact we could have built the line around him. The players are not blameless far from it but look at the shit Coaching they have seen over the past years. They know better than we do that it is a lost cause with no ambition.
All the playing staff decisions so far are 100% finacial. What a strange co incidence that everyone whose contract expired was not good enough for us.
I just find it amaxing how all these players, like the top scorer in Scot Prem are not good enough for us???
Mr Morgan fire fat arse or sell the club.
Few would know better than SEB what horseshit is going on behind the scenes and I wouldnt be surprised one bit if he’s had enough and more than happy to get out … Great player for us, but surely he has served more than his fair share of time under the chuckle brothers…
Will miss his goals and the superb nicknames he’s collected over the years, ALL THE BEST Blakesy!
SEB will be missed next season, who else was better for us? Glad Edwards is staying – I like him and I think he’ll be one of our key players next season, injuries permitting. Elokobi again if fit will be at a level where he’ll flourish. I hope the new head coach gets us fitter though – we just ran out of juice too many times last season, particularly under Solbakken.
IF is a small but very big word. IF my mom had balls she’d be my Dad. If Edwards/Elekobi had stayed fit much more over the last few seasons they would have contributed a lot more to the football club. As it is, they’re both so injury prone it’s ridiculous (especially Edwards). As likeable as I’m sure they both are, and equally I’m sure they’re also both on a lot less money than those that we’ve released, I’d sooner see the back of these pair as well.Other than the young lads, I’m amazed we’ve chosen to keep any of this shower of shit on!
exquisitely said ! 4 names we desperately need out the door and fast
• J Moxey
• R Johnson
• J Ohara
• K Henry
According to Martin Swain on twitter tonight ‘Jez Moxey is going nowhere’.
Of course not, if he had any talent and integrity he would have resigned by now. The fact that he has not tells me a lot about him. He knows he is not talented and could not get a similar position.
Capable guys, who have bad luck or find themselves in similar position have the integrity and confidence to do the right thing.
The only way he will leave is if Morgan fires him. I just have to suspect that somehow one way or another Moxey has woven himself into the set up legally or financially to the extent its tough to get rid. Rememeber how tangled it was when Sir Jack sold, something went on then. There is more to this than meets the eye, but I dodnt think he is just an employee.
Sir jack did many woderful things for us, but his biggest mistake was the day he hired that fat arsed bastard.
My favourite player in recent years at the Wolves – represents a lot of happy memories for me as a Wolves fan – sorely missed, although even if he was offered a contract, couldn’t see him signing, not at this level. People gave him jip about his weight, but for the most part in his time at the Molineux, he answered with bags of goals – 61 in 177 games, that in itself doesn’t tell the whole story, obviously more prolific in the championship – SEB, I will miss you terribly… Wolves I need a new hero…
Just found this: http://bit.ly/YP4tpB – another view on SEB, not too dissimilar…
Very, very sorry to see SEB leave. If that header had gone in v West Ham in our first game back in the PL, if he hadn’t picked up an injury so early that season, if further injuries hadn’t prevented him from playing alongside Fletcher more…the story could have been oh so different. So many ‘ifs’. I still think he could do a job in the top flight. Maybe his goal/chance ratio isn’t as high as some of the top strikers but if a team plays to his strengths (which, as Thomas points out, we continually failed to do) he’ll get goals. Gutted that it won’t be with us but I wish him well.
Thanks for the memories seb probably the best out an out poacher we have had since bully. Can’t help feeling he’ll go on to score against us in future! Really hope he goes to a championship or premier outfit as he’d tear up league 1.
That season with him big Chris, kights and Jarvis in full flow was magic!
Thanks for the memories sylvan, could see you do a job for Norwich beside holt , or at stoke. Get well soon.
SEB represents some of the better times spent watching Wolves in recent years, he’s had me off my feet more times than most of his playing colleagues and is definitely the family’s favourite. Disappointing that he never found his form in the PL but once he lost his wing-man Andy Keogh (another favourite who I was disappointed to see let go) he was never the same.
No point living in the past I guess, as Freddie used to sing “there’s got to be some good times ahead”
Sad to see Seb go, but there was no way we were going to keep him.
Griffiths 1 year extension. he has already expressed his desire to play elsewhere. the extra 1 year is so we can get some value for him. If he doesn’t get sold in the close season he’s not going to be a happy bunny, (fits in well with a few others). Can’t see him putting on the Old Gold shirt again.
Realistically we have to get the wage bill down. So these dealings reported to day were inevitable and won’t be the last before we appoint moxeys assistant (gofer)
50 backroom staff cuts. or just Moxey. Saving would be about the same. Positive effect would be 100 fold.
Whichever Championship side gets him on a free is getting a bargain – he’ll bang them in!
At least we have taken the 1 year option on Griffiths, hopefully he will prove a good replacement IF he’s not sold.
Also, I notice Bassong was player of the season for Norwich: http://www.soccernews.com/bassong-crowned-norwich%C2%B4s-player-of-the-season/120222/?utm_source=feedly
I wasn’t convinced with him when he played for us, but this perhaps shows that Wolves in the Prem under Mick/Morgan & Moxey/Connor was a vacuum which sucked all of the skill and endeavour out of even good players.
I’ve recently spoken to sylvan . And he is gutted to have not even been offered a contract I think he may have stayed with us if they would have spoken to him.
I think its a shame but its time to move on ….apart from the dunces upstairs who are probably more deserving of being given the boot. as usual though they will pat each other on the back and then sack the poor sods in the menial jobs like the people who really don’t deserve to be gone…shame on moxey and shame on you morgan..
I’m pretty sure we’ll see Seb banging in the goals at championship level at least. Just one more example of a player under achieving and not developing at Molineux; there really is something seriously wrong at the club. Another asset given away for free while we’re stuck with the likes of Henry for another 3 years. Well done Moxey you really are good.
As for Griffiths replacing him, no chance in my opinion. Wolves were always going to extend his contract because he’s worth quite a lot of money(developed at another club in a way that wouldn’t have happened with us) and Moxey likes money. He doesn’t want to play for us and he’ll be sold, probably before the season starts.
Couldn’t agree more mate. Very little chance of him coming back down here. We were always going to take up the option to extend his contract to protect our own financial interest. However, he hates this club and aint going to wanna come back down here in a hurry, he seems a pretty stubborn bastard as well! We may even end up loaning him out to the prem for a season to get his value up before flogging him. Can’t see us ever seeing him in gold and black though.
Not so much hates this club, but hates this country. Have seen him a few times and he would have hardly scored in Championship. Might get a few in Div 1 if defenders are stupid enough to give him time to set himself. Tight mark him and he’s useless. Rattle him and he hides.
Get a few hundred thousand quid for him and be grateful.
Mmm, think you’re being a bit harsh on him there. I think the blokes a total tosser but he looks like he’s come on a lot this year and is well on the road to becoming a bloody good striker. Centre forwards sometimes need a bit of attitude and he’s certainly got that! If we sold him for a couple of hundred thousand quid as you suggest we’d be bloody stupid!
Yeah and he’s scored a few screamers from free kicks as well. They’d go in whatever league he was in.
Well said Martin, seen it repeatedly good players come in and soon lose there edge, mediocre players move on and suddenly blossom. Something very very wrong.
The one thing and only the one thing Moxey has said that is right is that they did expect these players to do better.
Yes they should have done, so Mr Moxey who and what is that rotten apple. Sure they are well paid but to succeed today you have to give 100% and be well trained and organised and have some team spirit. The old sayings lead from the front and success breeds success are so true. When players see crap leadership and ambition the rot sets in.
As Victor used to say Please for the love of God go.
you know what this really is ! A BLEEDING BOOT- SALE and I bet moxey is loving it ! hes like scrooge counting his pennies….. we NEED to send him a “ghost of Christmas past and future” id pay to see that !
Looking forward to hopefully seeing mcalinden and Ismail etc playing regularly next year. We’ll see if Cassidy repeats his league 1 form with us.
Dont worry we will soon coach that habit of goal scoring out of him.
I have just read this article:
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-city-fast-tracking-patrick-vieira-1897246
Now that’s what you call forward planning. The other end of the scale to us as all we do is fight fires.
With my hand firmly on my heart I don’t think we are going to end up with anyone worth having. There you go I’ve said it. Now let those two tossers prove me wrong.
Think M and Fatman just light fires and then don’t have a clue about putting
them out.
I guess it’s commendable to see some fans putting a brave face on, looking for any positives to life in league 1 … and that is exactly what jez and steve will be counting on next season… sadly the more you keep putting money in their hands the longer they will stick about.
it’s not sour grapes, its a very serious situation, our club is being rinsed … whilst there’s money to go round the two self serving pariahs will keep sucking us dry.
Interesting article about Ebanks’ potential successor;
http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/football/sun-shines-on-leigh.21095858
Surely we’ve had enough disruptive influences recently without Griffiths. Take the money and run – then start praying we appoint a manager who knows how to spend it sensibly.
Heard Phil Brown on the radio at the playoffs yesterday saying he can’t believe the number and quality of players either free or out of contract. This is the pooll we should be fishing in. Sadly, we have no fishermen yet engaged – just one effing great whale.
What money Hibs are penniless…. this is a lose / lose situation for us ..
The painful fact is he is going now we are a THIRD TIER CLUB.
Seb scored goals but elevating him to the great category is over the top.
Wolves great players for me apart from Bully are the ones who
performed in the top league.
Good luck to Seb. I am more concerned with sorting out again the mess
Pork pieman and the players have got us in. Into the 3rd week and names added
on a daily basis. Does this remind us of anything?
So as someone mentioned, we soon head into the third week without an anouncement.
Dont get me wrong take your time and get it right, BUT what makes me real uneasy is:
1: The said at out set they were going to take their time well Moxey always does because he never seems prepared. Its like they feel they can take as long as they like because they said so not because they need to. The tosser has probably done buggar all so far.
2: There should be no club in the league better prepared to fid a new manager, was obvious to them that Saunders was a mistake months ago and according to previous statements (lies) they have previouslly scoured the world and interviewed many suitable people.
Sorry this all stinks again, delays while Moxey makes all the football personal decisions for next year and we here once again its too late.
Disgusting and clueless.
If only these twerps realised how much we would respect and support honesty.
I think it’s pretty obvious why we seemingly haven’t made any progress in the manager search in the last couple of weeks isn’t it? The fat fucker had a month long holiday booked at the end of the season and he wasn’t cancelling that for anything! All inclusive I’d like to bet. Still there’s hope because he’s due back any day now, sent home early if rumours are to be believed-for repeated abuse of the all u can eat buffet!
When I wrote this it was taking the piss. I didn’t seriously think that our esteemed CEO, who earns more in a month than most of us earn in 5 years, had fucked off on holiday at a time when the most important decision that our club is taking in its recent history needs to be made. Truly unbelievable.
Congratulations to Yeovil, taking our place in the Championship, always had a soft spot for them.
Now that is a team of achievers.
Just to put things into perspective Mr Morgan. I was in UK in 2003 driving back from a wonderful week with friends in Cornwall.
Just let me remind you Mr Morgan and primarily Mr Moxey, this was the summer we were all anticipating Wolves first season in the Prem. Supposedly our rightful place and the promised land.
Anyway as I drove up the M5 that was the weekend that Yeovil played their very first Football League match.
Ten years later they replace us and stand head and shoulders above us in the League.
Quite honestly Mr Morgan what further evidence and proof do you need to underline that Mr Moxey is a complete failure. Dont keep telling me how wonderful he is I can see for myself. The most respected CEO in Football, yes cos everyone knows he is destroying a rival. In case you had not noticed it is a competitive sport. They will tell you anything.
You have to fire him or sell the club to someone who will.
Well done Yeovil.
Yes Yoevil, we’re now below them & only £24 million pounds difference in the wage bills. Gary Johnson in the Observer speaking about their just under £1 million pound wage bill.
On SEB, he was just getting to top form again when he got an injury, with him Kightly, Jarvis, Fletcher & Craddock gone that’s the cream of the crop at Wolves all out. No-one will shed too many tears at Berra’s going but Gorkks was not much better was he?
Jody was sorely missed as when he got injured we did not look as strong again defensively. He also had an air of professional calm & dignity that’s tough to see in a lot of the flash car brigade left. Hunt also was our top player in the last games, but why Saunders moved him from out wide to the centre to facilitate Ward only he knows.
Talking to a Blues fan mate about Steve Bruce, who he only had qualified praise for, l said well who has been a better manager than him there recently? Alex McLeish! At the risk of massive negatives, I wonder if he has crossed the thoughts of our selection team?
Oh & Leigh Griffiths sounds horrific from the article mentioned above! There could be fireworks in the dressing room with him around. The new Wolves boss, if we ever get one, will need to have plenty about him to deal with the mess he’s been left.
I wonder if Morgan & Moxey will have the cheek to announce Thelwell as the new boss & head coach as others have hinted at. This selection business looks suspiciously like the fantasy search for McCarthy’s replacement.
I was on the e+s website and saw wolves were offering 14 quid for a family to enter the museum ….can you actually believe they are still charging US to witness OUR clubs history BEFORE the ugly sisters were anywhere near OUR club …. its like adding insult to the injury thrust on us from themselves..IDIOTS !!!!!!!!!!!! CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT INSTALLMENT FROM THE BIG TOP !
and it maybe a good idea to replace the “hi ho silver lining” with (if anyone can remember) theme tune of “rhubarb and custard ” cartoon !
So it seems we have a new set up!
New Director of Football = Moxey
New Head Coach = Dullwell
Cannot see Griffiths staying with us & thanks SEB
Everything said about Seb on this thread has some validity which perhaps sums his career at Wolves up. Having been away for a few days i was keen to catch up on the progress of the search for the right man. Cant quite put my finger on it but seems somehow just bloody odd. Jacket still favourite – has anyone been favourite for this long without being appointed ? Behind him a battle of the old gits who want one more pay cheque. Then there comes a layer media invention
….throwing in names and making the process look like what it purports to be but which it somehow isnt at all. Who have we actually approached ? What was the identikit and why does nobody seem to fit it ?
Ps goldy guess i had sort of forgotten the theme tune of ruhbarb and custard forever thanks.
but colin now you remember it …..it somehow seems so bloody apt ! we probably will end up with a cartoon character as manager – mr magoo most probably 🙂
How about Captain Pugwash plus bloody good tune to run out to.
only problem I can see is we are sinking…. and captain pugwash stayed afloat..how about a thousand leagues under the sea !
Master Bates for Head Coach!
Think it’s time for fans to congregate at Molineaux and get this shambles in the press.Pieman and Dullwell are taking the piss.
Most “names” mentioned are out of work so they will not be on their hols……
Identikit….more like paint by numbers.
To be honest it is time to at least make every one aware and send a message to the owner.
Its about all fans can do, apart from staying away which is the negative approach.
I’ve returned from my weekend of debauchery in the Big City and I’m raring to blog!
Clapton was on excellent form at The Albert Hall and we quite like the sound of Gary Clark Junior who was the support act.
Back to the Wolves.
I’ve just read a couple of things on the E&S website.
Ebanks-Blake didn’t fancy football in Division 3, so him not being offered a new contract was a bit of a done deal by the sounds of things.
Fair enough, and all the best to him wherever he ends up.
The other thing is that Chris Powell could be in the mix for the Head Coach job.
I have to say that I do like the sound of that.
I suspect the reason that he interests Scrooge and Fat Scrooge is that he is used to working with virtually no money to spend but it could be that they have unwittingly stumbled upon a little gem here.
I think of all the names in the frame – and I think that a couple of others could do a job – his would give me the most hope for the future.
A good bloke with a good football head on him.
Powell would do for me.
With the clowns running the show it is not going to make too much difference anyway.
I always expected SEB would leave anyway, players recognize whan clubs lack any ambition or proper direction. Not having a Coach to enthuse or persaude him would have made it an easy choice.
I’m with you on that one DOOGooder, I like the look of Chirs Powell.
breaking news !!! its all micks fault – everyone did as they were told then did they ? who was in charge mick…. or was it the board ? can any more crap be spouted from the top? I think maybe alfs right .. this is all going to end so very badly and just sitting around seems wrong waiting for cagney and lacey to screw up again!!
ive spoken to lots of Charlton fans and theyre saying powell is going no-where . why would he want to come to a team worse than Yeovil! (no offence yovelites- hope you do well)
So it’s Micks fault? Ok so what has the fat man been doing for his million pound? Surely everyone can see that a CEO us the place the buck stops… If he believed in mick and mick failed then its the CEOs fault if he didn’t believe and didn’t support Mick it’s th CEOs fault that goes with the job and the burger tokens….. He must go
Sack the fat man for a brighter future
Its outragous to utter that bollocks about Micks fault.
Most of us knew Micks limits and that he should have gone long before he did, what we did not anticipate was that he would be replaced by such crap ever since. We thought we would get better.
I fear the same dissappointment this time.
Fat arse is killing us and thinks the whole world will wait to suit him.
I think it gives us an insight at how completely and utterly useless the board really is !!! once again as ive said many times they are looking for a scapegoat so the attention is off them and their complete balls up.. I think that they all need to be shown the door – not just the players but that’s not going to happen is it ?
What a feeble attempt at deflecting the blame for the demise of our football club.Blame the players and now blame Mick McCarthy. The Board members would be unable to criticise McCarthy openly, because that would almost certainly breach the confidentiality agreement they signed when Mick was sacked. It would apply both ways ie both for the club and the ex manager, but not an ex Director who had left long before McCarthy was sacked. So an interview is arranged by Martin Swain with Kevin Threlfall to convey the message,it was all down to Mick,Jez is a great CEO(despite getting two clubs relegated to the third division) and Steve will get things right. There was some common sense mentioned as well ,ie we all know and have said so for years,a Director of Football is needed who reports directly to Steve Morgan. I think most Wolves fans will see this for what it is, a weak effort to divert responsibility away from the Owner and CEO.On the main point that evidently they were afraid of McCarthy, they clearly were not afraid to not sign many of Mick’s main transfer targets,Dann,Moses,James McCarthy,Carroll,Ba,Clyne and Gardner etc.On the point that £80m was spent and it only got us relegated twice, perhaps someone should tell Kelvin Threlfall they sold the better players and only spent half the money recieved on replacements ,that is what got us relegated last season. Also you would expect a proper interview looking at the reasons for our decline, might well have considered the effect of spending £26m on infrastructure projects. Since Sept 2011 the club has been net sellers of footballers.Selling your best players and not replacing them is a very good way of getting relegated.
Chris Powell would be fine but is he going to turn his back on Charlton and drop down a divison. Also if he reads Wolves website he will see someone already seems to be running the team (Dulwell&Foxey). Would anyone in there right mind want to work with them ?
If Jacket was nailed on like the london media first thought surely it should have happened by now. Looking at all the odds the value bet could still be Steve Davis – but who knows what they are doing.
There is another thing about the Martin Swain interview, even the figure quoted is questionable. He quotesThrelfall as saying in Mick’s time’ the figures are £85m net spend on players’. Yet according to Steve Morgan at the fans pariament meeting in Feb this year, the net spend in his five years at the club for player transfers and loan fees was £36m.The two figures are difficult to reconcile,Mick didn’t spend much in his first year before Morgan arrived ,certainly less than the money from the sale of Lescott. There is also the question, from where did an ex Director get this list of signings and transfer history, also referred to in the article?Has this information been provided by someone from the club and is now being used to smear Mick McCarthy’s reputation ?
i need a list of the number of colors i need to finish my 2 wolves picture as my paints have all dried up and i want to finish the picture can you help?
There comes a time when there is no place left to hide.
Moxeys yours arrived some time ago. Please do the honorable thing. If you are half as good as Morgan says you should have absolutley no problem getting a better position.
Please please fall on your sword (The thought of that isnt pretty).
Mr Morgan please just hire in or maybe you already got one, a competent Chief Accountant and a Director of Football who reports to you and runs the club.
Please please remember you own a sacred institution at least 35,000 people love and care about. Most importantly it is called a Football Club, not your Post office Savings account.
Fix it or piss of, and no more stupid leaked statements please.
I have posted for ages that the problem lay at the board. Look on wolves website and see the names and companies on the board. They are from construction or finance. The only one to have any experience is moxey from stoke. Morgan should shoulder 100% of the blame. He choses who he wants on the board. Threlfall – what the fuck does he know about football. He made his money from sweet shops which he sold to tesco. His money got him close to sir jack and morgan. Any business that fails like wolves are, the board gets the chop. Not one board member has left. Disgraceful. And it is morgan who sits on top of this big pile of steaming horse shit. Do you all think dickhead threlfall did this article off his own back, or was it authourised by the board. By the way his car with number plate KT1 is always in the players carpark on match days. This article stinks, and totally sums up the disgusting state of affairs presided over by morgan and moxey. I cant wait for them to get their cuppance!
‘He made his money from sweet shops’
I understand he made most of his money from selling lung cancer – the ‘Supercigs’ chain.
I am sure if the Wolves are interested in Chris Powell and the money is right and the terms suitable eg, working to a plan, young players and suitable additions to our squad. I would think he would be interested in the job. Of course Charlon fans would not want to lose such a valuable asset. I did say before I think the club want Kenny Jackett just hope I will be proved wrong.
Seems at the most important time at our club the our CEO is on holiday. The only person to have been interviewed is Kenny Jackett, but expect an appointment by the end of the week. Does that mean our CEO is not involved in the interview process or that they know who they want and have done since day 1
The only way forwad is to look at all aspects of the running of our club. See where we are going wrong and and take steps to improve us and get us back to where we all want to be. A winning team of young players and good football and the fans will respond likewise. Public relationship at the moment is sadly lacking. Give the fans football we can enjoy, get the ticket prices right and we will be getting 20,000+. Make budget for 15,000 at home games and we will be on our way. Also if the club are in contention for pronotion Mr Morgan will be able to dip into his own pocket for extra investment he can do so under the new regulations. Nice to dream.
Great and positive thoughts.
I still think Wolves has huge potentiol if properly run.
I can not bring myself to beleive that Mr Moxey is the right man, in fact it is obvious he is not, but what more can we do than hope that at long last he has got it right.
I fear his big problem is that just because they have now involved a Football man of whatever calibre, it takes the pressure of him. It does not seem to matter how good someone is as long as they have the right name.
Once again the only choice we have is to hope they get it right this time.
It certainly tells us a lot though that in the time of the clubs biggest crisis he pisses of on vacation. Now we know why he said we will take our time. He just does not give a fig.
Are we going Downing ?
No way! I’m not working under Moxey.
The interview with Threlfall is a public relations exercise designed to take the heat off Moxey and (less so) Morgan. Nonetheless, it highlights the void that we can all see – a Director of Football at Board level who knows the sport, knows the players and has good contacts within the game.
Di Canio is highlighting the problem of immature player behavior at Sunderland – something we have seen a lot of at Wolves over the years. The better clubs check out a player’s personality/character before signing them. They also check out players’ vulnerability to injury – something we seem to have completely lost track of over the years. All of this should be done by an efficient D of F – but no accountant is qualified to do it.
Breaking news Moxey back off his Hols.
Thank God Pieman has returned to sort out the mess he has created.
You can hear the sighs from the people of Florida now he has left.
Looking forward to the BS shovelling and ridiculous press statements…..
Dullwell has already made sure that Excuse and Slur have been fed.
Completely underwhelmed by the “process”.
nice one alf mate ….theres nothing more to add. muppets !
Anyone fancy Pulis – hes just got the chop from Stoke
Not me really – a Mick McCarthy type manager who had more money to spend. Notice Sheff Utd have sort permission to speak to Stuart McCall dont they know jacket, warlock and Maclarench are out of work and available on the cheap.
I don’t know whether I fancy him or not – but I do fancy that Stoke will live to regret getting rid of him just like Charlton did with Curbishley.
When a small club like Stoke start saying “He’s taken us as far as he can” they are in trouble.
He’s taken you much further than you ever could have dreamed of you idiots.
Time to wake up and smell the coffee!
Agreed Doog, sometimes there is no doubt these Chairmen start beliving their own Bullshit. See it time and again just like our CEo if i say it i must be right. As my daughter says “And who made you God?”
I think he would be safe hands which is all we can really hope for. Not inspiring football but safe hands woud do it for me right now.
it is pretty obvious they are in no hurry, no sense of urgencey at Mol.
A sensible post DOOGooder does seem to be the case now that fans and sometimes chairmen will demand change even though the chances are they will jeopardise there Premier league status. Personally i am quite pleased Davis appears to be leading the race where we are now we need to start a new era with new blood – though wether this can happen under M&M remains to be seen. I also understand there are other Wolves fans who would like a bigger name or a manager with more experience even if there careers now are on the downward side of the curve.
This Steve Davis that Moxey and Morgan are looking at: can we be certain it’s the bloke from Crewe and not the old snooker player? I’m not so sure ;0)
Is it just me or does Steve Davis look like MM after a nose job?
Should have gone to SpecSavers ?
Steve Davis Steve Davis Steve Davis get him now and when we do every wolves fan to a man support him. This could be the start of something good if we are brave and get him.
Very sad day… Goodbye to a legend… :'(
Dullwell: Had a nice holiday , boss?
Moxey : Yes, where’s the short list.
Dullwell: here you are
Moxey: This blank where are the names?
Dullwell : I called like you said but they all said F— Off I’m not working for those pricks.
Moxey: Dullwell get me a list just put some names on it, Morgans due any minute
Dullwell: I’ll include Pulis that will look good.
Later
Moxey: there you go Steve there’s a lot of quality on this list
Morgan: well done Dullwell always knew we made the right decision in
Appointing you.
Moxey: RIght we always do
Later
Moxey: Dullwell get on the phone to Davis at Crewe and Powell at Charlton.
Offer both the job and let me talk terms
Dullwell: What about Steve
Moxey: I’m in charge.
Yep, lets not laught to much its probably closer to the truth than we imagine.
Interesting to read E&S this afternoon – headline ‘Davis cool on Molineux link’ with no picture. When you read the article it seems rather it is the club and the E&S who are cool on Davis. Looks like they havent approached Crewe or Davis and they are anxious to get the more experienced candidates back in the frame.
I for one am a bit disappointed by this. Managerial careers in football tend to follow a curve Sir Alex was almost unique in retiring at the top. Then look at who we are talking about Jacket, an unprepossesing figure who has attracted no interest while at Millwall, Maclaren, almost a comic figure in football now who has only lasted around 6 months in his last 3 jobs and lastly Coyle an old bitter adversary whose career has also been on the slide.
Lets face it we have got to sell the club to the likes of Davis, why would he leave the safety of his present club for us. With our past history of hire them and sack them, hostile supporters, players who just don’t want to. We need to make an approach and sell the best of wolves to him, give him a contract for 4 years and full control on buying and selling, fans have got to go for him big time, everyone wanting him to come and give him 100 % support. The alternative is the yesterday bunch of usual suspects who are out of jobs because they didn’t cut the mustard. For gods sake go for him and give him a chance, what’s the worse that can happen, we don’t lose so many balls out of the stadium.
I think Davis would probably love to have a go at the Wolves job. He is just doing things the right way he has a contract at Crewe and it is up to Wolves to act first. Sheff Utd have made a request to speak to Stuart Mcall they dont seem remotely interested in Jacket et al.
General Patten would do a good job.
Can’t see anyone wanting the job after speaking to The Marx Brothers.
Who in their right mind would want to come into this mess, on the salary
that will be offered and as many limitations that you could count on 10 fingers.
I see we have had loads of offers for THE DROSS…………
There may be one or two offers now Palace are in the Prem.
