The signing of Nelson Semedo was big for several reasons.
Firstly, it shows that the plan all along was to upgrade on Matt Doherty. Whether or not it works out that way, acquiring Barcelona’s first-choice right-back is a signal of serious intent.

Moreover, it proves the Doherty and Jota departures were never a case of Fosun reigning things in and slowing down progression – quite the opposite.
And while it’s uncomfortable to have dispensed with two proven Premier League talents, the end result is a stronger, more balanced squad.
I’d be surprised if there was any other significant ins or outs now and if this is what we’re working with, I’m confident about the road ahead.
West Ham
The Hammers haven’t yet improved their squad at all in this window.
Tomáš Sou?ek was a smart signing and helped them stay up last season but turning that loan into a permanent deal was never going to be enough to suggest progress.

Selling Grady Diangana to West Brom didn’t do much to lift morale either and back-to-back defeats has already ratcheted up the pressure on the Irons.
That said, they were able to string together a good sequence of results just a few months back to ensure survival and were unlucky to go down late to Arsenal last time out.
A crushing 5-1 cup win over Hull in midweek will also have helped lift some of the gloom, despite David Moyes having to watch from home after going down with Covid.
The Scot will also be missing from the dugout for this one but connected via video link to add another strange twist to an already surreal situation.
I always look at West Ham and feel like there’s a good team somewhere within the group of players they possess but somehow they never seem able to achieve the right balance of quality and effort to get consistency.
That confusion on the pitch is likely a result of the muddled efforts higher up, which is the real problem they need to solve.

The home end
Some comments lifted from the pre-match thread on the Knees Up Mother Brown forum.
We haven’t even scored against this lot for 4 matches straight. I think the 3-5-2 is custom-built for this; it seemed to offer us a bit more energy in the 3rd quarter of the match, vs Arsenal and, hoping against sensible expectation, Moyes/Irvine will be moved to make earlier substitutions, if we stand a chance of maintaining pressure in the oppo’s final third. I’m going full Allardyce here. We win 0-0 and that will do me. We can take the handbrake off at Goodison, to compensate.
I’m normally one of the more optimistic ones… but not against Wolves. They play us off the park every single time. I’m expecting a depressing 90 minutes.
I find Wolves a complete and utter mystery on several levels, which, admittedly is partly attributable to my poor knowledge of non-PL football. Firstly, someone remarked last week how amazing their side is on paper. Yet, I’d only ever heard of 4 of their players prior to them rocking up at Wolves, and many of them just seem to be Portuguese youngsters, and very few of them have any kind of “astonishing” record prior to Wolves. Check out Jimenez’s goalscoring record before Wolves. It was very mediocre. How they’ve performed so well at PL is a mystery (to me), and presumably an example of fantastic scouting. I mean, they’re no Nordveit, Feghouli or Caleri, or any of the other overseas randoms we end up with! Secondly, someone else remarked that they’re just a front for Jorge Mendes’ clients to get them in a gig in English football. But if they’re as good as their PL showings have shown them to be, why wasn’t there a queue for them? Why does Mendes need a front to get them a gig? Are Wolves just lucking out with how good these players are? Thirdly, they have TEN Portuguese players in their squad and only THREE English players, only one of whom is a first-team squad member (unless you also include their reserve goalie). How do they get away with that? Fourthly, why do they never get any injuries? Fifthly, did they really sign a player called Vinagrey? That is all.
Wolves
If you were going to chuck any player straight into the team it would surely be someone with considerable experience at the highest level?

That said, I can easily see Nuno starting with Traore back there and changing it later. If he does play Semedo who does he drop? Neto? Traore? Podence?
City targeted Adama on Monday, swarming all over him when he had the ball in his own half, knowing they could get possession in a good area to launch their own attacks. It worked very well for them.
But when he was further up the pitch they had no answer for his wing play to again underline the area of the pitch he needs to be playing.
If Marcal is out, now is the time for Vinagre to get a good 10 game run. It’s about time we gave this man a proper chance to make the position his own and take his game forward.
Predictions
Nobody correctly guessed the 3-1 scoreline on Monday, but a few did forecast defeat to accumulate points and set the pace early doors in the overall table.
As always if you’d like to join in, simply leave your prediction for this game in the comment section below, which is where you’ll find my best guess.
Up The Wolves!

While five wins in a row against anyone in the Premier League feels fanciful I’m still backing us to win.
The team selection will be very interesting. Nuno will have seen things in that first half against City he didn’t like (albeit with significant improvement in the second). How will he respond?
I think I’d like to see Semedo put straight in and Traore up the top end of the pitch. It’s only a case of when that change happens of course.
And what of Hoever, Vitinha and Fabio? Can any of those players force their way into the team? All will surely be given minutes from the bench in the coming weeks to show what they’ve got.
I am really happy despite two defeats in 3 because it is clear from the Semedo signing thatFosun continue to be committed to building the club and the team despite my worries over the U.K./ China relationship .To buy a player from the Barcelona first team is surely a seminal moment for the club .
It may take a few more games for the evolving new style to get going but the future looks bright .A positive result of some sort on Sunday is needed especially with the run of games to come which can give us some good momentum for the season .
Hope we play normal football in the first half from the start, like against Shieffield. Podence to get the nod over Neto. A good start and we will win comfortably.
To answer the West Ham fan’s question about did we really sign a player called Vinagrey:-
Yes we did (almost).
We thought he would come in very useful when the chips were down.
Typically excellent DG. Made me LOL.
I’m not much into how we do historically against teams or historical stats but given the turmoil that continually seems to haunt West Ham plus their poor league form so far, I can’t see any further than a comfortable win here.
Our lineup should be interesting. I’ve no idea what’s going on at LB, RB should be a no brainer. CM Neves and Moutinho with Donk and Neto being benched allowing Traore to scare the bejaysus out of their defence.
I’m really happy with how our squad has developed. We look balanced and have some decent options off the bench whoever starts.
Probably going to regret saying this but over the 4 games against us West Ham and by far been the worse team I have seen in the Prem and I just don’t get all the hype about Rice. I expect another win. Marcal is a major doubt so I hope Vinagre just relaxes and keeps it simple. The other wing back you have got to expect Semedo to start but this is probably one of the games Adama could play wing back. Also Donck comes back in for me probably for Joao
This should be an entertaining game and one that could go the way of giving Clive from Houston 3 points at last.
Our transfers in show us that Fosun means business and that we should not doubt them, even fleetingly.
NUS on board for 3 more years, hopefully we can rise to the challenges of this ‘project’s and have him in post long term – time will tell, but l am feeling very optimistic these days.
As for Sunday, 3 points all the way.
if we can start the first half like we started the second on Sunday game won before half time 3-0. We have to start Traore up front and start Semedo in at right back.
I would love us to start with a 3-5-2 combo, with Raul and Podence up front and Dendo in Midfield. Then on the hour unleash the beast and Neto upfront into a 3-4-3. That plan has worked well for us in the past. But I think Nuno might know better than an Ozzie Fan 🙂
Really, I feel this is the start of something big for Wolves and if Lemar does what many pundits are saying and joins us, I would bet on Wolves finishing in CL qualifying position. I might even consider making a Clive in my predictions 🙂
In the meantime I believe we will be too good for WH and hopefully a clean sheet for us.
With the arrival of Nelson I can only see one result ! Imagine him linking up with Adama down the right….mind blowing …..cant wait to see it ! and if Lemar comes to Wolves we should definitely be on for top six
COYW
Expecting something big. Pushing my boat out as far as i can. Can’t see anything but a thumping win.
All this silly nonsense about Wolverhampton becoming a Portuguese colony. I’m having none of it. Just because I have changed my name to Prince Henry the Navigator a famous Portuguese discoverer doesn’t mean anything. Just because I have re-named Next Door Neighbours cat after the first man to cross the Equator -Lopes Goncalves in 1473 is inconsequential. In fact the cat has now grown a Nuno style beard and only answers to ‘Here Lopey, come on Lopey’. Well alright I also admit to a scale model leggo building in my garage of Porto’s ‘Jardins Palacio De Cristal’ in homage to Ruben. Apart from all that nothing. Oh and I occasionally wear a Sombrero round Gornal when I go shopping but what is so unusual about that I ask you? Nothing. Nothing at all. Walking up Rua Augusta Street , er sorry Zoar Street, Gornal folks often come up to me and say “you don’t look very Portuguese at all, but your cat does look a bit like Nuno”. I just laugh and point at the Portuguese flag flying from the top of my house. So the conclusion is I have NO OBSESSION with Portugal . Next Door Neighbours cat might have a bit of one but what is wrong with a cat looking like Nuno Espirito Santo? Any way on to the game. West Ham Utd 0 Portuhampton – er sorry Wolves 4.
more madness please !!!!!

Hi Bedders , hope you’re well mate
Lots of love
Hi Matt
Thanks for the message and kind thoughts. To be honest I am struggling at the moment. It’s 9 weeks ago today that my Julie passed away and as we were together for almost 42 years it has had a massive impact on everything. x
Easy to say I know, but stay strong soldier.
Thanks Steve x
Can’t begin to imagine what you’re going through mate.
Our thoughts and love are heading your way.
Thanks Mark & Sue x
Dave,
Jenny & I are sending you all our love and best wishes mate, this is such a shock to Jenny and I and as said by others, “we cannot comprehend your life without the beautiful Julie”.
I hope your boys are getting through this with you as a family, when we all met in that pub down at Charlton a few seasons back, they were great lads and we could see how proud you were of them.
Anything you need Dave, this blog is here for moments like this, please don’t feel like you cannot ask, we are here for you.
X
Thanks Stu and Jenny. Our 4 children (daughter and 3 sons) and their partners and our 4 (soon to be 5) grandchildren have all been wonderfully supportive and have surrounded me with love but it doesn’t stop you feeling all alone and utterly lost. x
Mine and Sue’s thoughts are with you Dave. Still remember the first time we met your lovely lady at The Mount Hotel in Wolves, the bloggers do’s,especially the one at The Novotel where you were just a little bit p****d and the Rod Stewart concert at Molineux. Stay strong mate, you have got the love and support of a hell of alot of people.
Thanks Ian & Sue – appreciated. x
So sorry god bless u
Fucking hell mate …I didn’t even know that had happened .. shit , so sorry to hear that and what a terrible time you must be going through .

Hi Dave, only just picked this up. So sorry to hear your sad news.
Lots of good thoughts and wishes from Dougie and Barbara
Nothing I can say to make things easier for you Dave . Just thinking of you. That’s all.
Fucking hell mate …I didn’t even know that had happened .. shit , so sorry to hear that and what a terrible time you must be going through .
I have not got any words except that I am sorry for that you’ve had such a loss . Truly really sorry bedders ….you’re such a nice bloke , I’m heartbroken for you . What a shit thing to happen .
Your loss is shared by us all – We are Wolves. We are pack. We are a family.
Thank you. Great photo by the way – my first and still all time favourite Wolves player.
Mate if you need to unload Dont bottle it all up . Let it all out mate. Wolves blog is always here for you.
Like the look of your team
I went to see Wolves play West Ham at Upton Park in 1990 where we lost 4.0 – Liam Brady’s last game. I think we’ll return the favour.
Plenty of options for Nuno to dwell on
Some people seem to think Semedo’s addition to the team will somehow add 2 goals to our offensive output.
I doubt it.
Just my opinion.
I would imagine it will give the umpteen defenders they put on Adama something else to think about and free a little space for The Rocketman.
Give the negativty a break, Tim.
Just my opinion.
I’m just adding a dose of realism to your fantasy world.
It’s interesting how you’ve decided to only comment on my comment. Nothing else to offer about the game itself?
A very winnable game after the City match. We need to keep picking up points.
We’ll make a decent win by not conceding a goal from West Ham
I’m not sure how much we can take from the Sheff U game as their form doesn’t seem to be quite where they were last year. And the Citeh game was definitely one of two halves so it’s hard to draw conclusions from that too.
However, we know Wham are in turmoil and should be there for the taking so I’ll be disappointed if we don’t do just that.
I feel Semedo will be in from the start, such are Adama’s shortcomings in defence, and it should be quite a spectacle, seeing Wham trying to counter the sheer pace we have down the right hand side.
Much good news on the Wolves front these past days and I feel the warm glow of confidence and aura of expectation radiating out from my very being at the moment.
It feels good.
Should be as much fun as usual, watching the Wham fans crying in their beer at Nick’s Place, Sunday lunchtime, as their local is Houston Wolves’ local as well, also.
If ever there was a time for a five for Clive, this weekend is it.
Cannot see anything but a rout.
Much love to our good mate Bedders.
A club in turmoil. Unwanted owners , unwanted manager , Covid 19 issues. Go and smash em Wolves.
Raul
Podence
Boly
Neto
With the goals.
Can see the stadium from work , had a ticket for the match that got pulled due to Covid
hopefully it s 5 wins on the bounce
west ham united 1-2 WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS
Not over confident yet, early days
My prediction for Sunday: Dildo Brothers nil, Portugal 2.
Just a few short weeks ago, when Doc was sold, and Nuno hadn’t signed, many fans were calling the Wolves Project under Fosun dead. What a turnaround. What signings. And we ain’t done yet. Fosun are deadly serious about The Project.
For me, the icing on the cake is the Semado signing. We need to free Traore to do what he’s best at, and that is scaring left backs shitless. What he isn’t good at is defending. We saw that at Sheffield and again at home to Man City. He looked brilliant at times against City in the second half, but every run potentially left us exposed at the back.
Finally we can get back to our best form when we looked brilliant against the top teams last season, and Traore was “unplayable”, in the words of Klopp…
West Ham are not a shadow of their best teams of old, which were pretty dam average anyway.
Onwards and upwards.
OK, they haven’t scored against us in the last 4 losses. These things have a tendency to end at some point, but I don’t see us dropping points in this one, so I guess they are going to score… Expect to see Podence start as he appears to be key to unlocking defences.
For me the season starts on Sunday. Fosun have certainly come up with the goods in the last few days.
It might be hard on Neto but I think he will be the one to drop out to make place for Semedo.
God help who ever tries to play left back for Wham, they will probably end up with PTSD after the game. Don’t disagree with Thomas’s team wonder if Dendoncker is the best partner for Neves in a 3-4-3 set up.
Time for some goals me thinks, not quite a Clive but close.
Always worry a bit when we are all so confident as it often seems to be a prelude to a poor display. Sorry but my Chinese mother-in-law always warned against tempting fate.
However the on going problems at West Ham does give for optimism without even giving thought to the reshaping of Wolves squad. Piece in The Times today pointed the finger at Sullivan. Highlighted chopping and changing of playing philosophy and of course managers. Also singled out poor scouting and consequent imbalance in the squad. Contrast that to Wolves under Fosun and Jeff’s steady leadership.
So yes should be a comfortable win for Wolves – fingers crossed.
My track record at this prediction league is hopeless :-). Hoping it’s 3rd time lucky!
Let’s do this Wolves!
Thank goodness we won’t have to watch Adama at wing back again.
Let’s just hope our new signing doesn’t go the way of our nearly new signing – injured after seven minutes.
West Ham are a team that we just have to beat in order to fulfil our growing potential.
Start off quick and convert our chances and we’ll do just that.
And taking a leaf out of Cheesey’s book…
Vamos lá Lobos!
Unlucky not to get anything from City match. We’ll be too strong for the Irons.
Marcel injury is a low, I’m not yet convinced buy Vinagrey he produces moment of brilliance and poor performances in equal measure his crossing tends to be hit and miss he’s not consistent which is probably why he isn’t a regular in the team.
I hope Nelson plays so Adama can cause havoc among West Hams defence I would put the young lad from Liverpool in instead of Vinagrey see how he gets on.
This fixture comes at exactly the right time. We won’t concede either so….
Semedo to start. Jimi and Adama + one from Podders / Netters.
Maybe start with the Donk.
Buying a Barcelona player to replace Doherty is pretty Sic.
The likes of this we have never witnessed at the Golden Palace, £30m ish for a RWB, Moxey would be turning in his gravy.
I don’t believe that a full time first team Barca player cannot adapt to Nuno’s style of play, he must have had to play against many teams that play like us so he should go straight into the team on Sunday.
Reuben Vinagre gave a damn good account of himself against Man City, he was like a Rabid dog salivating on the leash when introduced, it was all but Nuno could do to contain him as he tried to give him last minute instruction, he was so hyped up.
So, all our problems are tied up and boxed off, people on the blog struggling to see who will drop out and make way for the newbies, (what a situation to be in)
So, I’m feeling optimistic on this one, I want to see us tie up our defence allowing the midfield the chance to supply our forwards with class balls to help us start banging in the goals as we all desire.
I feel different to Thomas, I think we will still have some in coming befoe the 5th Oct, we have made up the numbers for the one’s we’ve sold and still need to strengthen the squad.
High scoring game for me, sew up the defence to give the forwards the ball more. “While your’e marching, your’e not fighting”
Let’s not miss out on anything again because of our inability to score like other teams.
West Ham 1
Ruthless Wolves 6
Fill the boxes mate.
Oops Thanks Steve.
Remembering the year we won at Villa then played West Ham during the week and won
3-0 and the owner said they made Wolves look like Brazil
More coming lads…
We’ll bounce back from Monday and are we are now also stronger so ……
Agree with Thomas’s starting line-up though there is also a case for being a little more cautious, bolstering the midfield and unleashing Adama for the final third. The team is very attack minded but ball retention will be key. Hope we are not all being carried away with the new signings and positive vibes on this site etc, WH have some good players too. Narrow win for me.
West Ham did look pretty good against Arsenal tbf. Think it’ll be tough to break them down but they still look so disjointed up top.
Tougher than many on here think in my useless opinion. Wolves to shade it.
COMBs !
Man City were due a win against us and, I’m afraid, so are the Hammers. However West Ham are not exactly as classy. If we are up to our best for ninety minutes we will win. Anything less and who knows; football is a funny game as a great player used to say.
Difficult to see anything other than a comfortable victory against a side in turmoil.
Can’t see anything but a Wolves win
nah …. way to much for the ammers
This is the start of our winning run and staking a claim for our top 6 adventure this season…
COMBambinos!
Thomas says that the sale of Matt Doherty led to us having an improved squad. I disagree.
I don’t care how much Semedo cost or where he’s from, he’s going to have to go some to produce the same stats that Matt did in the last 2 seasons.
Still looks like wheeler-dealing to help Mr Mendes to me. As for this game? Depends which Wolves turn up as per usual. If it’s the first-half against Citeh performance then prepare to get beaten. If it’s the second half performance then we should win. Given all that, I’ll go for a draw.
“I’m forever blowing bubb…..oh damn, the dildo Brothers have used the washing up liquid for lube”
Should be a good day out for the boys. Feeling good about this one.
Very excited about the recent additions. Points for the pickin’.
WGH!
Semedo will take some time to understand and get his timing with Traore . But we should still have enough to win
Fabio trundling into the box, leaping gracefully to meet Adamas scatter-gun accurate cross for the fourth….
Like many on here, I’m confident of a win, but don’t expect it to be easy.
Hope so but WH have fight in them it seems
Looking for a repeat of our first game after Covid return. Controlled clean sheet with a couple of dagger thrusts.
All eyes on the Semedo – Traore express whilst our (currently) secret weapon Dani boy sets up Raul and maybe games one for himself. Then late on a Silva debut goal.
Just checking news items now to see if we can pull Lemar over the line. In My I’d hands that would be a fantastic option.
333 years ago today, 26/9/1687, the Parthenon in Athens was blown to pieces when the Venetians (the away team) hit a lucky lob into the gunpowder stored there.
For this one, I’m seeing “three’s” everywhere: 3rd game, 3rd season, 3 points, a hat trick?, 3 good VARs?
Have I lost my marbles? No, I’ll take the lucky lob 1-0 … a goal in the first three minutes.
We’re their bogey team and long may it continue. They probably are due a goal though so 1-3 for me!
All things point towards a more comfortable game for wolves. Higher possession should see us create plenty of chances.
It is time for Vinagre to show how he’s developed, as we see very little of him. But somehow I really want him to find his place in the team, as I feel it’s an important year for him the way the wolves project is going.
I’m also looking forward to another good display from podence. Impressed with what he’s bringing to our game now.
Some on here also seem keen to label Semedo a flop if he doesn’t get the same stats as doc. Let’s see what he does first. He doesn’t have to score goals or assist to make the team stronger. The right side does look full of strength, pace and skill now. Exciting times!
There are three types of lies
1- lies
2- dam lies
3- statistics
The problem with stats is that in Dohertys case for example, it doesn’t show how many times he was out of position or at fault prior to us conceding?
This is by no means having a dig at Matt cos I loved what he brought to wolves for 10 years, but perhaps if we took a goal away from his tally for each goal he was at fault for, those dam stats would be different?
Maybe somedo won’t get the same amount of goals but could turn out to be much better defensively?
Here’s hoping anyway so good luck to him , personally I can’t wait to see him play
Utw
Thanks for expanding on my points Marney. Very well said. Completely agree we should be a more solid defensive unit with somedo in the team. The back 3 shouldn’t be exposed as much. UTW
This will be tougher than we think,
They are getting desperate but if we keep them from taking the lead early doors, we will come through.
Looking forward to seeing some more of the new recruits,
Come on you wolves
David Moyes wins. That’s what he does.
Except when he’s manager of Man Utd or West Ham.
Was not prepared for the 1st half v Citeh. Hopefully it’s out of the system.
A good (i.e. more than 1 goal) win with a clean sheet and a first view, at some point, of our (almost) 1st choice line-up would make me very happy.
There are a lot of Wolves supporters in Leominster and that’s where Jarod Bowen comes from Via Hull City. We need to keep a close eye on this lad, would he love to score in this one, deffo’ goin to the top, but not with the Iron’s.
Big win for Bedder’s please.
Is that your place Witley???
Looks like that place where you wander to in Witley and have a game of tennis. Ah yes Witley Court. Nice crib.
Work in progress, Stroker. No its Witley Court, ancient monument. Keep your chin up its only a game.
Got to be a win just got to be
In one of my rare trips to the land of Nod for a full 8 hours sleep last night I had a crazy dream, a real crazy dream.
I dreamt that Nuno wanted us to do well in the league then drive on next season for the CL, and he was being backed all the way by Jeff Shi.
It seems that Nuno is not finished in the transfer market and a few surprises were still to be had.
Telles to leave Porto, but sign for Man U.
Vinagre to go to Porto to replace Telles.
Wolves to get Rayan Ait Nouri as LWB.
Tomas Lemar to sign for us.
Paulinho to sign for us.
Wolves to take 3 more youngsters on board for the future.
Then I woke up, shook my head and wrote it down, stared at it a while, thought of our transfer dealings so far and thought, mmmmm not as crazy as it seems.
Then I went up town, passed by the Molineux and spotted the bloody great 5m x 3m tile choice advertisement above the ticket office on the Billy Quiet wall, it looks tacky, sorry but a green 3 m high frog or lizard or whatever it is on the Golden Palace wall looks as bad as the shite’s boiler.
Apropos of nothing to do with WHam game – Home grown players – we need 8 in a squad of 25. Not sure, right now how we get to the 8 but we have until the end of the window. Do we have 8 already who might qualify as home-grown? Guess Buur and Traore will qualify as well as Ruddy, Coady and Kilman….. Then probably pad out the 25 with players from under 23’s and under 18’s????
If we buy them young enough, thy count as home grown, even if they are from other countries.
“…There are other crucial signings, such as Ki-Jana Hoever from Liverpool. Hoever made his debut against Wolves in the FA Cup and has been monitored ever since.
He is only 18 and ticks a number of boxes for Wolves: he is versatile (right wing-back or centre-half), has huge potential and will also count as a homegrown player when he turns 21. ..”
Well I actually predicted a 3-1 scoreline for the recent home game, however the wrong team won it. Still don`t understand why we were pressing so high up the pitch, leaving ourselves so open to be picked off. Last season we defended in depth winning the ball in the middle of our half and the rest they say is history.
So for me tomorrow it will be a 3-1 away win for my black and gold heroes, don`t mind who plays or scores, lets get the 3 points.
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/09/26/nuno-espirito-santo-rebooting-wolves/
How Nuno Espirito Santo is rebooting Wolves
Tim thanks for bringing that article to us. Key parts; Nuno decided on Jota’s departure last season (a move which suited all parties) and Podence ‘s assists already this season compared to Diego’s the whole of last season.
In the words of the famous song…..It’s Diogo, not Diego.
Happy hunting ground for us in the past. If we play like we did against Citeh, in the 2nd half, should be a safe bet.
Someboy mentioned the 4nil at Bradys last game. My overriding memory of being there was Wolves and Hammers fans all singing Stevie Bull must go to Italy!
Bedford Wolf, only know you via this blog, but my heart goes out to you. You are obviously held in high regard by the fellow bloggers.
Well, two weeks in, and it’s already started.
Conspiracy and collusion by the powers that be to stop the title going to anyone outside their pet teams.
Give the title to a Manchester club now.
Just watched manure completely outplayed by Brighton, who hit the woodwork five times.
But, not only was a Brighton penalty overturned, Pogba’s booking rescinded, and the Brighton player booked for diving, they went into 7 minutes of fergietime, when there was only five allotted, and got a penalty, very harshly awarded, after the final whistle had gone!
And also, if the Brighton player got booked for diving in the box, how come little shit stirling didn’t get booked against us, for exactly the same offence?
Double bleedin’ standards already.
Pisses me off.
Nuno should let Adama loose, tell him to go straight into the box every time he gets the ball, and see how many fouls he can draw.
If it’s good enough for the ” so called elite” clubs it’s good enough for us.
Bastards.
I guess there must have been 5 minutes of time wasting and injuries in the lead up to Brighton’s equaliser. Hence another 5 minutes.
It’s almost like the officials saw the error of giving 5 minutes in the first place, as Man U were already winning at that point. God forbid another team try and score. Oh no, best give them another chance, and give a penalty by any means possible. Preferably after the final whistle please, for extra drama.
Nonsense. This is what all other teams have to try and get around to finish in the top 6.
I await our good fortune in the games ahead…… but don’t expect any.
I just watched the overtime and there wasn’t. The only wasted time was Martial getting off of the pitch in the 89th minute, which might have been after the 5 minutes was decided.
Don’ think it was 2 or 3 minutes though so the game should have been called earlier.
There is an agenda. We saw it last season after lockdown. Same now. Be prepared for more shite. Starting tomorrow at the London Stadium.
Wolves ay we
I spotted that too Clive.
Ref blew the whistle, to the letter of the law the game is over, how can VAR then say oh hang on a minute there may have been a hand ball. VAR is there to advise the Ref, Not over rule the final whistle.
We both appear to dislike Man U methinks.
Blimey Chelsea, just how many more gifts are you going to give the baggies? Play this shite against us please.
On to tomorrow:
The referee went to the monitor and decided himself.
28 minutes gone
sandwell 3-0 Chelski
That’s just proved it.
The World’s gone mad.
This has ruined my wikend. Cor believe it.
Sanity restored at sandwell, and you never thought I would ever say that, did you?
Ha ha
Yep . I already hear you singing “3-0 and you fecked up”
Come on Chelsea… only two more to go!!
Very excited for tomorrow, big match to show the rest of the league what we’ve got. The addition of Semedo should be used immediately as I hope to see a from three of Podence, Raul, Traore, followed by donck/ Neves and Joao in the middle. Would love to see 60%+ of possession in this one with Semedo and Marcal flanking down wings. I think Raul keeps his goal tally moving with two more tomorrow , as well as one more from Boly or Saiss off a set piece. 3-0 win as Wolves need to capitalize on an easy stretch of games. COYW.
Should win this, Semendo should start.
Hi Jerry.
Long time no hear mate, we hope you are well.
Nice to have you back buddy.
I thought last season, with the other teams in flux, would be our best chance to get a top 4 place.
I thought this season, with all of the new players these teams have been signing, we wouldn’t have a chance.
Now I’m not so sure.
I’m pretty confident we ‘ll win well against our favourite opponents, so I’ll double my usual prediction.
Unashamedly stolen from my good pal Stu.
Please, please, please, if you go out tonight and see a man wearing an albion shirt, who is walking his dog, show him how to hold onto a lead.
One thing for certain we can’t start any worse than we did against City. Hope he gives Semedo a start, a player of his class should be able to fit in quickly.
Should be a comfortable win but how many times have we thought that only to get a smack in the chops.
Wolves 3 – 1
I hope Adama doesn’t hurt his shoulder playing tennis.
That’s cruel Tim !! What have you got against Adama ??
That’s really very good Tim. Why have I never noticed the resemblance?
I know. I think it is just the angle or something.
……..because there isn’t one?
A comfortable win if we perform like we did in the 2nd half against Citeh.
Semedo at RWB please to free up Traore.
As someone has already said, come on Wolves & win this for Bedders & his family.
COYW
I hope we will win. I think we will win – even though WHU’s run against us has to come to an end sometime. I explain this because, purely for the benefit of the PL, I’m going to forecast a loss. Please forgive me!!.
Nevertheless COYW!
Hammers 1 Wolves 1
These are the games we need to keep winning.
Glad Adama will probably not be playing wing back.
Interested to see how Semedo goes.
First chance to see what Wolves will be up to with the new players.
I hope Semedo plays from the start as Traore needs to be further up the field. I’m also looking forward to seeing what Vitinha can bring to the team.
West Ham are in a bit of a spot at the moment but this match still has banana skin potential. Fingers tightly crossed.
What’s up, Dougie Babe?
Soon be turkey pie time again!
You’ll always be Exiled Wolf to me, Dougie.
and also formerly West Park Wolf.
Very interesting article in The Telegraph today.
It gives a real insight into Nuno’s position in the Wolves set up and how his hand is VERY firmly on the tiller.
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/09/26/nuno-espirito-santo-rebooting-wolves/
If we have true ambitions to be a top 4 team, then we need and should be beating a poor West Ham. All they have is an overrated youngster and an over the hill midfielder. Come on Wolves!
Yes we should but will we? We haven’t played well for more than 20 minutes yet, it was good enough to beat Sheffield and might have earned a draw against City. West Ham were stubborn in defeat against Arsenal and will be the same tonight, we must start well and keep it up , scoring the first goal being key to three points.
Where is Danny boy Podence ?
Wot no Danny? Hope he’s not joining Diogo?
Waited for team news before predicting…. changed from 1-0 to 3-1 ……
Jimi, Neto and Samedo with a wonder 30 metre volley into the top corner…….
Semedo and Adama down the right side, too much for West Ham to handle.
We usually beat them, same again please
Yet another first half where we have been passive and completely lacking in intensity. Starting to get bored of nuno talking about learning and improving because this type of first half performance has Been prevalent for far too long. On performances since lockdown we are kidding ourselves if we feel we are going to seriously challenge for champions league positions.
Absolutely seething.
When we played Boly as a Left Back our defence was awesome. Saiss is a liability ……………. end off.
If we do not turn this game around I will be pissed off. Come on Wolves ….. we are better than this.
Sorry Saiss,
I should not have singled you out, as you were not alone tonight. You were all shit.
well, it comes to something when we hear that we must hand it to the ref for his quick thinking. Well done Martin. But West ham are up for it, and it’ll be difficult to get back into this match.
What’s honing on……….FFS.
That should be ” what’s going on ” my predictive text is up the spout……bit like Wolves at the minute…….?
I’m assuming Podence is injured, as he wasn’t even on the bench!
Shoulder from what they said.
it was reported that he’d had a knock in the last game………..
Half points for getting the score correct but the wrong team?
I forecast 4-0, or actually I forecast 0-4, just as someone said they predicted 3-i against Man City………we’re just not getting it together, are we.
Oh dear oh dear. Can’t recall a worse performance since the Championship. Anyone see any light in that dire show?
That’s Wolves tonight.
Absolutely awful. Nuno has a lot of work on his hands. Moutinho is starting to look his age, slowing everything down to walking pace. Need someone who can move the ball more quickly and get some dynamism into our play. He has been fantastic for us but struggling to remember the last time he really dictated a game for us and neves has been completely emasculated. I think the commentator said it is nearly a year since he last scored for us? And what has happened to Willy Boly?
We’ll Nelson showed his attacking side and that we have signed him from Barcalona but his defending suggests we signed him from Barnett……up grade on Doc……not even close.
Way too soon to judge. Give him a break.
You don’t get time in this league or any league as today’s result has proved .
Having seen videos and read up on him this is his weakness defending it was pointed out in all of them and today proves it now Nuno may be able to work his magic but when you starting from zero it’s a long haul and how many points do we lose on the way.
This is the Premier League not La Liga it s a this strongest league in Europe cannot afford to carry anyone.
Who says the Premier league is stronger than La Liga? Not in my book. The difference is that Barcelona have Messi and are therefore not generally used to defending. When they have to they can come unstuck as per the Bayern game. Semedo is certainly going to get his defensive capabilities tested at Wolves.
Don’t think anyone came out with credit tonight.
Real Madrid Barcalona………….that’s La Liga. The Premier League is recognized as the the best league.
So your say La Liga is stronger because of one player Messi…….!
Sorry Paul but that’s not correct. Weall saw how strong Sevilla are ( they were unlucky not to beat Bayern in the Super Cup) and Atletico had Liverpool’s number in the Champions League. Then there’s Betis, Valencia, Athletic Bilbao, Getafe. All excellent sides. Don’t always believe the hype put out by the British media.
The Premier League is only recognised as the strongest league in the world by those looking to sell it to the wider footballing public and the British press who have a vested interest. Most competitive possibly but recent European exploits suggest it’s not necessarily the best.
Ouch that stung!
Lots of pretty individual stuff but no team performance.
I think a weeks training is much needed.
Let’s hope Marcal and Podence are back soon. Both Vinagre and Neto flatter to deceive. Pretty build up but no end product.
“Nothing to see here. Move on”
We had 2 points at this stage last season.
Just saying.
Look it’s not the end of the world…..but that display was like a team that had no direction look disjointed and at times no idea in the final third and god slow so slow in there build up play midfield was totally out of there depth.
We are clearly in transition but the new bees need to learn fast this is the Premier League the toughest League in the world.
I’ve Bennett’s saying this all summer we need a nasty bastard in midfield.
Why was Podence not even in the squad Liverpool haven’t come in for him I hope..?
Don’t panic.
Shoulder injury.
I will get slated for this but I just think we may have reached our plateau and now we are on the other side. The other side of lockdown suggested as such. Tonight was an absolute travesty. No invention. No chances. Defense all over the place. I will usually stick up for the Wolves but not tonight. Hopeless. Come on Nuno. Prove me wrong.
Come on. Get a grip. We’ve had a bad day at the office that’s all.
If we’re bottom at Christmas expect my written apology.
This all coincides with Bennett leaving the team.
Coincidence?
Yes, a coincidence.
Cheese we don often agree but on this display we do. Vinagrey is a liability he should be no where near the bench never mind the team he was awful as we’re most of the team.
This has been coming if you look at the Stoke and City game the midfield is stagnant the defence is shaky even Boly is having a mare I’m not harping on about Doc but this result shows how important he was he was a big cog to take out of this team his partnership with Coady and his link up play to the attack.
Midfield….what’s happened to Neves he looks the shadow of the player he was plays to deep.
It’s a mess this has been coming the hope it Nuno can sort it out.
That’s alright mate. You are Wolves. I am Wolves. We all want the best for Wolves. No worries.
Hope so. That was not the Wolves we have come to love the last couple of years. Bring it back now !
Very harsh to criticise Semedo, the first two goals were created on the opposite side, give West Ham some credit, they were a lot better than last year and clearly at the moment , we aren’t.
Nuno will fix it but the new faces need to be bedded in, we’re missing Doc and Jonny, our back three are being closed down and don’t like it (or have no options), Moutinho has lost his spark and tonight, Jimenez was isolated or crowded out, Traore was out on a limb and not running past the last defender. There’s a list for starters.
A poor night for the faithful.
Pride comes before a fall and we are collectively guilty of getting way ahead of ourselves these past few days. Champions League? Top 6? Mid table? Just hoping there are three worse teams in the PL than us atm. I will see some positives tomorrow but just now.,…..
Thank god I was here to temper the unbridled optimism and add a dose of common sense.
Sure, I was slagged for doing it but my shoulders are almost as broad as Serena’s so I can handle the abuse.
Yes, I said we were overdue a loss against Man City and West ham just on a statistical basis. I agree that Boly looks out of place on the right, but think the central midfield is chasing shadows at times and has lost some creativity, maybe due to being outnumbered at times. Sometimes I feel we need Dendonker to start in there and to play two up front. It’s easy enough to change to a more attacking option if able than to recover if overrun in my opinion. We are short of cover for Jimenez as the young lad is nowhere near strong enough yet; skilful, I cansee, butthey just gobbled him up in both games…
I disagree. So we saw a thumping tonight, but remain on 3 points. One point more than we had at this stage last season. We finished 7th. I see us finishing 6th this season. One bad game and it all goes tits up? I don’t think so, Wolves ay We.
This has been coming Brompton first Half against City, stoke it’s no surprise to me and many other Wolves fans Nuno’s ripping up the blue prints the system that has served us so we’ll the last 3 seasons he let go a corner stone of that team be his choice or the players .
He says he wants to evolve the team that’s find but to move away from your strengths so much is suicide.
Jut my option.
My starting 11 for Flum
A team with a hangover.
Patricio blameless. Neto threatening. Semedo some nice touches.
Otherwise awful.
2 years ago I thought that Vinagre was a bit special – now he plays like someone who has been told that he is not good enough for 2 years.
